Mike Wright
Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers Podcast coming to you from the fantasyjocks.com studios with your hosts, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore and Mike Wright.
Andy Holloway
I don't know. I don't know if I can do this today. This is maybe the strangest beginning to a show in the history of shows. Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers Podcast.
Mike Wright
You gotta get onto the YouTubes and see this.
Andy Holloway
I don't know. Yeah, I have to describe this to our listeners out there. I am sitting at the table here attempting to host a fantasy football podcast. Across from me in the second strangest thing in the room, across from me with a paper bag over his head is Mike the Fantasy Hitman. Right. Mike, how are you this. This fine day?
Mike Wright
I'm doing excellence. I wanted to have a big reveal for the Foot Clan, who were incredibly generous with helping out my aunt with, with her medical bills, fixing up her teeth and I mean, I.
Andy Holloway
So your hair has been cut?
Mike Wright
My hair has been cut off. I gave a little teaser on the Twitter sphere so we can get what this is. You're the. The captain.
Andy Holloway
I'm gonna.
Mike Wright
You're gonna get to it right away.
Andy Holloway
We're gonna get to it right away because I have to explain these stuff. The most strange thing.
Mike Wright
Are we getting a good shot of this? Brooks?
Andy Holloway
Mike is going to reveal his haircut or his lack of a mop, so. And your hair is gone. My hair is gone for the most part.
Mike Wright
It looks.
Andy Holloway
It looks mighty fine.
Mike Wright
Well, thank you.
Andy Holloway
Looks better than Jason looks today, I'll tell you that right now. The other news. Hey, Jason. Jason. Jason could not be with us this morning. It is a no.
Mike Wright
He is. Ask him a question.
Andy Holloway
Jason, how you doing? Yeah. Because only on this show would you find a. This is to scale in place of Jason. Today is a two scale grizzly bear.
Mike Wright
Yep.
Andy Holloway
Because I don't know. I don't know why instead of Jason here this morning, he had some things he had to attend to. So Mike and I are holding down the fort. In his place is a full cardboard cutout of a grizzly bear. And because, I mean, Jason is the grizzly bear of the show he's the hairiest.
Mike Wright
Just as good.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, the takes will be scary, just like a grizzly bear is scary. The grizzly bear is very hairy. Jason's the most likely to hibernate of the three of us.
Mike Wright
Yes, that's true.
Andy Holloway
On a regular basis now he's got that bushy beard too. So if you hear any hot takes, that's. That's Jason. So we are going to talk fantasy football on the show today. I promise you that this is going to be a good one. We're going to talk rookies, we're going to talk fantasy football news. We're going to answer listener questions. We have some new information for everybody out there. We have a bunch of new articles on the website, including articles on rookie wide receivers by Keaton Dinlay, QB landing spot article, tier based drafting article on the website. We are big proponents of drafting based on tiers and so that's what you'll find in the ultimate draft kit and our new cheat sheets in the ultimate draft kit and we'll talk about that as well. So it's going to be a fun one. Mike and I holding down the fort. Mike, where do you find the fantasy footballers on the Twitter sphere at the ffballers.
Mike Wright
You can follow Andy at Andy Holloway if you want to follow the fantasy bear over here at Jason ffl and you can find me at fhitman.
Andy Holloway
There are only so many cardboard cutouts you can get overnight on Amazon prime, you see, and this one made the most sense to us when it arrived today. I was very impressed. All right, quick question, Mike. This is one that's been on my mind. A lot of people doing rookie drafts, a lot of people wanting to know the future. Right. I mean, I have had so many posts on Twitter. What kind of year is Dalvin Cook going to have? Where do you rank Leonard Fournette? And my question is this. Who's your favorite rookie that is not projected to be a first round rookie draft pick? Right. Fantasy pros just recently did a mock draft, a rookie mock draft. So we'll use that as our baseline there. So the first round, okay, the first round of that draft you had Corey Davis and Christian McCaffrey and Joe Mixon, Leonard Fournette, John Ross, Dalvin Cook, Mike Williams, O.J. howard, Alvin Kamara, Kareem Hunt, Samajp Ryan and then Evan Ingram, who you snagged in our rookie draft in the second round, late second round somehow, but he goes in the first round here. So second round and beyond, who's the rookie that you just Plain, like the most that you'd spend some of that, you know, offseason fab money on.
Mike Wright
There's, there's quite a few rookies, so I like the landing spot. I'm gonna, I'm gonna jump up here.
Andy Holloway
With a. I don't know your answer. I have no clue.
Mike Wright
It's true. He was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts. He goes by the name Marlon Mack.
Andy Holloway
Dick, Dick, Dick, Dick. Marlon Mack. Oh, yes, the Billy Joel reference, of course. So you like Marlon Mack?
Mike Wright
Yeah, I like Marlon Mack. I like the talent, I like the athleticism.
Andy Holloway
Scat back.
Mike Wright
I think that he could be big enough to be more than just a scat back for them. And Frank Gore should be retiring after this season. I mean, that's absolutely a question mark. His contract only runs through 2017 and landing spots, offense. It's so important to where these, these running backs end up because you can get a guy who by the NFL standards, they believe he's an incredibly talented guy like Todd Gurley. He ends up in a situation that is just the pits for fantasy. And then on the opposite is a guy like Marlon Mack here. He fell in the draft, middle round pick, but he ends up on a very, very high powered offense and could be in line for a large workload. Not necessarily this year, but we're talking dynasty here. So you got to think a little bit longer term.
Andy Holloway
Okay. All right. I am answering this question.
Mike Wright
I hope you go with the guy that you drafted because I left him for you.
Andy Holloway
Sure, yeah. And you're talking about Joe Williams. I am, yeah. I am going more short term in this answer. I was thinking more in the context of like, hey, what situation do I love the potential of happening this year? Right. Because here's what I do. There goes my pen. Here's what I do believe. I believe that's that one of these second round running backs is going to end up in a situation that is just plain spectacular.
Mike Wright
And when I round rookies. Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Second round rookie running backs and saw Joe Williams is in that equation. Right. I think Joe Williams has the potential to really by mid season be the guy in San Francisco. I think Shanahan loves him. I think Shanahan wants somebody else back there and somebody to grow with that team. Another guy, two other players, Jamal Williams and Deontay Foreman, both of them could end up in incredible situations this year depending on the health of Lamar Miller. And then Jamal Williams could be the back in Green Bay by a quarter through the season in terms of first and second down work on that team. So I think one of those three guys ends up in a Jordan Howard esque, really nice situation this year. It's just impossible to predict, you know, with injuries and things like that. So I'll go with Joe Williams because I think they're the team that is most, you know, willing to hand those keys off to somebody younger as they rebuild. You know, nobody's expecting San Francisco to compete this year. Right. With Brian Hoyer and injured Carlos Hyde and the team with all the holes that it has and how bad they were last year, to me it's a lot harder. The other two teams are playoff teams. The packers and Houston are both playoff teams. So handing the keys to a rookie, unlikely in those situations. So I'll go with Joe Williams. I like Joe Williams. I traded up in our dynasty draft to snag him, throw him on the bench. Dejuan Harris was just cut today from the San Francisco backfield. So now they only have like 14 other guys.
Mike Wright
Mike Davis is gone as well because they got picked up by Seattle today.
Andy Holloway
Right. And they traded for bibs, I think during the draft. And you have Gore and you have Kyle Juszczyk, but I'm sorry, I'm going way back. No Hyde.
Mike Wright
Okay.
Andy Holloway
They only do four letter running.
Mike Wright
And for Deontay Foreman, because I love to look at, for these rookie running backs and rookies in general, I love to look at the contract situation. Lamar Miller was given a hefty contract for running back. It was very front loaded. And if they want to after the 2017 season, it would be a $2 million dead cap hit to remove his contract from the books. So that which is. He's a certainly feasible if Lamar Miller falters this season.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, he's one of those players that can go either way this year where Lamar Miller. You gave so much of the benefit of the doubt to guys like lamar Miller and DeAndre Hopkins last year because the year was just disheveled on the offensive side of the ball. Disheveled equals Brock Oswald.
Mike Wright
So who's very good at shoveling, by the way.
Andy Holloway
But now you've invested in. Yeah, he is very structured man, very strong long arms. But now you've invested in a rookie. Somebody that look, I mean they had Alfred Alfred Blue had what, over 100 carries last year. And so there's opportunity to be had there. And if Lamar Miller goes down all of a sudden Deontay Foreman should headline a run first offense. All right, so Mike, let you know where to find us on Twitter. We're also on YouTube. The website is the fantasy footballers.com and.
Mike Wright
You got to check out the beginning of this show. If it sounded like chaos at the.
Andy Holloway
Beginning, can you do a zoom in on Jason here? Brooks, can you. There he is.
Mike Wright
What is.
Andy Holloway
There's. There's Brooks or I'm sorry, there's Jason. It's incredible. Hot takes from Jason. All right, let's get into the news.
Mike Wright
News and notes from around the league.
Andy Holloway
I knew it was going to be a strange show. Oh, one thing I forgot to mention. At the top of the show, there are a number of new shirts. Over@shopballers.com we've got some an I love Michael Keaton shirt on there, some fantasy football shirts and some new fantasy footballers shirts. So check it out@shopballers.com I know the I love Michael Keaton personal favorite. Demand is very high. So. All right, several things to talk about in the news. I'm going to start with a rumor and then I'm going to get into these news. But I want to bring up this Mark Ingram situation because fantasy owners all over the world. With the signing of Adrian Peterson and then the drafting of Alvin Camara, the panic in the streets for Mark Ingram is high. And it should be.
Mike Wright
I took a temperature of the Bushes.
Andy Holloway
Okay. The Bushes are scorching.
Mike Wright
They're like an apex of a fever.
Andy Holloway
Okay. I don't know what any of that meant.
Mike Wright
Very concerned.
Andy Holloway
Very concerned.
Mike Wright
Bushes are worried.
Andy Holloway
Well, if the Bushes are the Saints, then marking or might be on the way out of the bushes.
Mike Wright
You're familiar with the movie the Happenings, right?
Andy Holloway
That was a terrible movie.
Mike Wright
Well, in the Happening, the. The trees start taking revenge. That's what the Bushes want to do. They want to take a revenge on Sean Payton and the Saints coaching staff.
Andy Holloway
You following any of this, Brooks? Are you with. A little bit. Okay, here's the deal. A rumor today. So Max Unger. So that's news. Max Unger underwent foot surgery this past weekend. It's very doubtful the Max Unger center for the Saints will be available to start the year. So rumors have now abounded from multiple sources about a potential Mark Ingram for Jason Kelsey, right, center for the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles have several centers available, and the Saints are in need. And the Saints, for whatever reason, clearly have a problem with Mark Ingram, maybe in a similar fashion that they did with Brandon Cooks, where Peyton did everything he could last year. But Hightower on the field, despite the production levels of Mark Ingram, something in the attitude department doesn't work. Now. You've got Adrian Peterson, you got Alvin Camara. You've restocked a little bit. Is Travers Cadet still on that roster?
Mike Wright
Yes, he is.
Andy Holloway
He is. So you have. You have. You could ship him out if you don't like him.
Mike Wright
So. Well, you're counting very much on Adrian Peterson. If you send Ingram out and you.
Andy Holloway
Look at Philadelphia's backfield and you say, where is it? Like, where is the guy? Right.
Mike Wright
As of right now, it's still Ryan Matthews.
Andy Holloway
Mark Ingram, let's say he lands in Philadelphia. I guess that explains your feelings.
Mike Wright
I would be very excited. I am part of the Free Ingram movement and him going to Philadelphia, they need him.
Andy Holloway
They need him bad.
Mike Wright
They can use Mark Ingram.
Andy Holloway
He can catch the ball. He's been very efficient. He's been a great runner the last couple of years in New Orleans. And for whatever reason, he's on the out. So for. From a fantasy perspective, shoot up the ranks.
Mike Wright
Yeah, he'd be a one for me if he went to Philadelphia. Wow. Wow.
Andy Holloway
Okay, so we'll monitor that. Nothing definite of any sort. Right now. Here's some big news. Now. We.
Mike Wright
This is big news.
Andy Holloway
We mentioned this on, I believe our fantasy election voting show a long time ago. ESPN is changing their DST scoring. And it's good. It's real good, folks. If you have played on ESPN up until now, one of the biggest pet peeves that I've ever had with their scoring system is this circumstance, right? Let's say I have the Kansas City Chiefs defense and Alex Smith.
Mike Wright
Well, this is a terrible example because.
Andy Holloway
Alex Smith never does this. But let's just stay with here. I. Let's say I have the Chiefs defense and they're shutting out the Steelers and Alex Smith and the offense for Kansas City's on the field and Alex Smith throws the ball and it's tipped in the air and a Pittsburgh DB grabs it and runs it in for a touchdown. Up until this moment in time, that counted against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Mike Wright
It's ridiculous.
Andy Holloway
Counted against their defense and their special team. They're not on the field. They had nothing to do with the play. And so what this did was it caused problems, especially. Here's a real good example. Jacksonville had a very respectable defense last year, but I was afraid to play him because if Blake Bortles threw a pick six or two, it goes against their defense. No more. It's gone. ESPN has changed that. Now. Defense, special teams will no longer be docked for points surrendered by the team's offense. This is a great change. Bravo. Hooray. That's me clapping for whoever's running and.
Mike Wright
Possibly bigger news is they are moving. ESPN is moving towards the future and PPR will now be their default scoring system. If you create a new league, this is. Don't freak out. They're not changing your league. Your league can be run however you want, but when you start a new league, PPR will be the default scoring. As to say PPR is now standard.
Andy Holloway
Sure.
Mike Wright
So in a few years, that's like.
Andy Holloway
The worst way you could have said. I know, but it's the norm.
Mike Wright
That's. That's the way it's going to be.
Andy Holloway
Standard is no longer standard.
Mike Wright
Well, in, in a few years, I imagine we'll be saying, okay, this is standard scoring or is this non ppr?
Andy Holloway
Oh, I see what you're saying. Yeah, that makes sense. I mean, look, we are big proponents of a half point per reception. Yeah, they were.
Mike Wright
They. They overshot what they should have done by half a point.
Andy Holloway
We've been trying. We did our best. But if it. Now, if you had to choose between standard and ppr, I'm taking a ppr. That's exciting as well. In smokin J. Cudi news, he announced his retirement from the NFL after 11 seasons. Will be joining Fox Sports. What are you expecting from the Jay Cutler Tony Romo battle in the broadcast booth? Who wins that one?
Mike Wright
Who wins? This is, this is extremely interesting because.
Andy Holloway
My money's on Jay Cuddy.
Mike Wright
Jay Cutler is not known for his body language on the field. He's known for looking a little frumpy and grumpy.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, frumpy is a good word.
Mike Wright
But I mean, I've heard that the man can have an electric personality when he unleashes it, and he's going to have to. Meanwhile, Tony Romo is taking over for Phil Sims. So Romo is going right into the big lights, which could be a bad thing. Maybe he's not prepared for that. While Jay Cutler going to earn his.
Andy Holloway
Way up, Tony Romo is America's broadcaster. He might be a little. I wonder how friendly he'll be. He may be too friendly. Jay Cutler will let something fly. He won't care if it's intercepted. Don't care. All right, what else is going on? Jets wide receiver Robbie Anderson, who was a flash in the pan last year, was arrested on in Miami on Sunday. I believe he'll be the fourth jet to have an offseason suspension. He may be cut for all we know. This is not looking good. Charged with resisting arrest and violence of obstruction of justice. Big news on the I don't Think people realize this? Brooks, you're a, you're a Dallas Cowboy fan. Now, there's, there's talk of Jonathan Cooper ending up as the starting left guard. And if you don't know Jonathan Cooper was, is. Was. Both are, Both are accurate. I believe he was the sixth overall pick to the Arizona Cardinals. This was the year that I believe Eric Fisher came out.
Mike Wright
I believe that is correct.
Andy Holloway
I think there were three offensive lines. Luke Joel, Eric Fisher. Who's the tackle on?
Mike Wright
Johnson.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, Lane Johnson is what I meant. But anyway, he was a flop cut by the Cardinals. Believe he was cut by.
Mike Wright
No, we traded him to the Patriots.
Andy Holloway
Patriots cut him, Patriots got him. And then he's been cut since then. Now all of a sudden you have an unproven player, Jonathan Cooper that could end up at left guard. This can't be good for the offensive line situation that we considered so perfect in Dallas.
Mike Wright
Yeah, certainly not. But it's a little too early for me.
Andy Holloway
You have great stability around it. It's just one of those things where I don't know when something changes and you're moving somebody too. I mean, I believe they're moving Lael Collins to the right tackle position. So something to pay attention to see what that line looks like this offseason. So we're going to answer some questions spanning dynasty keepers, commish questions, listener questions. This show is all about you and your league, your questions. And we want to answer them here on the show today. Before we do that, I want to thank Pristine Auction, great friends of the show. Mike Wright
Oh, yeah, of course he is.
Andy Holloway
You know me. I'm just making sure. The last time we talked about this deal, someone thought I said 100 balloons, not 100 balloons from Blowflow. Prolonged. That's expensive to ship 100 balloons, I imagine.
Mike Wright
Or no, if they're deflated, it'd be very cheap.
Andy Holloway
That'd be a really crappy gift. Here, mom, here's 100 deflated balloons. Blow them up and celebrate. Have a day. Have a day. All right, let's get into the mailbag.
Mike Wright
Mailbag, yes.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, you are. This is a heck of a show. Who would have thought Jason brings stability to the podcast? He doesn't. He's.
Mike Wright
Well, he's like an anchor.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, a lot of. Lot of, like, weight.
Mike Wright
Girth.
Andy Holloway
Oh, my gosh, we are rough. Jason is a close friend. Hey, Brooks, is this voicemail good to play here?
Mike Wright
Oh, yeah.
Andy Holloway
All right. Hey, if you have a question, you want to submit it to the Fantasy footballers podcast, go to the website. Under the More tab, there is a submit a question button. You can send your questions into the show. You can visit us on Twitter the FFballers, or you can dial our voicemail hotline, 302-464-TFFB. We're going to start off with a voicemail question from the listeners and I'm pulling that up right now. Brooks says it's good, so I'm gonna go with it.
Mike Wright
Everyone loves ranking stuff. I was wondering what your guys. Mount Rushmore of fantasy football players all time. Is LT on there? Maybe Peyton Manning? Maybe Sammy Watkins.
Andy Holloway
Oh, wait, no, he's terrible.
Mike Wright
No, I'd love to hear what you guys think. And I just want to thank you.
Andy Holloway
Love the podcast and have a great year. Okay. That. What's really funny is, Mike, what does my piece of paper say?
Mike Wright
Right here you have LT and Peyton.
Andy Holloway
So he asked the question. The first two names I wrote down were LT and Peyton Manning.
Mike Wright
Yes.
Andy Holloway
I think Marvin Harrison comes to mind.
Mike Wright
Sure.
Andy Holloway
He could be in that pantheon, that Mount Rushmore group.
Mike Wright
I'm gonna put Randy Moss on there as well.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Despite Tom Brady probably belongs on there. It's just.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Because he's had one of the best overall seasons. The consistency, the longevity, those are the names that come to mind for me. Do you have anybody else popping into your head? I mean some of the greats played before the prime fantasy football era, which means pre computer. Sure. Yeah. If you. If you had to, you know, mail it in with a newspaper, then it's probably not. You're not making the list necessarily.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Lt is the champ.
Mike Wright
I mean that was back in the day when it was you would getting a bare knuckle fight with your friends to get the 101.
Andy Holloway
I was gonna say that's when the 101 meant everything.
Mike Wright
Yeah. Did you get the 101 carry you? Good news, guys. I won my league.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Yeah. So what do you have? 30 touchdowns one year.
Mike Wright
It was bananas.
Andy Holloway
All right, question coming in here. Keeper question from Phil and Fresno. The show is great. Thanks. He says, I just bought the UD can. I can't wait to dominate the season. You're gonna love it. We are very excited about the UDK this year. All right. Keep two of the following players. Amari Cooper, DeMarco, Murray, Allen Robinson, Marshawn lynch or Greg Olson. It's a half point per reception league and they can be two chosen from the same position. So what two would you keep out of that group, Mike? And a half point league.
Mike Wright
And why Murray's locked for me.
Andy Holloway
He is locked for me too, because.
Mike Wright
He'S on A run first team with an actual good quarterback. It's like I think of Houston and the Titans as a very similar structure except one team has Marcus Mariota and the other one does not. So Murray, and he's still the lead guy to me. So DeMarco Murray is a lock and I'm probably. Man, I'm looking at the two Raiders here.
Andy Holloway
I'm taking Amari.
Mike Wright
You taking. I.
Andy Holloway
Were you thinking him over? You were thinking Lynch?
Mike Wright
I was just considering it. But I do lean Amari Cooper, who.
Andy Holloway
I'd go with the balance and have one of each in that.
Mike Wright
Oh, and the good news with Amari Cooper is, you know that at least you're getting a good player who he could absolutely take the leap this year and become a great.
Andy Holloway
I have demarco Murray as my sixth overall running back this year in half point per reception leagues, just behind David Johnson, lev Bell, Zeke LaShawn McCoy, Melvin Gordon.
Mike Wright
So yeah, he's in that shady tier for me.
Andy Holloway
Sure, sure. Absolutely. All right, let's move on here. Dynasty trade. Oh, by the way, I wanted to run this by you, Mike. I saw a Dynasty mock draft. This is post rookies. Right. And it was curious. Yeah. What do you think? Odell Beckham Jr. Went after Mike Evans. Mike Evans was the number one pick in this draft. And the justification for that pick, it was surprising. Was the quarterback situation.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
There's a long term stability of Jameis Winston in Tampa versus Eli Manning. And what could be. I mean, if he flops this year with that. Those offensive pieces around him.
Mike Wright
Winston.
Andy Holloway
No, no, no, no. If Eli Manning flops with those pieces around him, all of a sudden you're looking at New York has to find a new quarterback and they're in a situation that the Cardinals are going to be in at the end of the year. The Saints are going to be in in a couple years. That's why Michael Thomas, while I love him, I'd love him a lot more if he had Andrew Luck as his quarterback.
Mike Wright
Yeah, yeah. That's very fair. How much of it is Michael Thomas and how much is Drew Brees?
Andy Holloway
Yeah. And how hard. And we know how hard it is to replace those guys. Not everybody ends up with a Dak Prescott or Russell Wilson in the fourth round.
Mike Wright
Man, I would.
Andy Holloway
I take, I would take Odell Beckham jr.
Mike Wright
Still Beckham. It's still Beckham for me. But I understand. I would not get mad at someone if they were. If they wanted to argue that Evans should be the 101. I just, I, I firmly believe it. Would be. It's Beckham.
Andy Holloway
If you had made that same argument last year with Blake Bortles and Alan Robinson, you would have been really sad you didn't take Oda Beckham Jr. Dynasty question from Dave. Now, here's the irony. He's in Mount Rushmore. So we just talked about the Mount Rushmore and now he's in Mount Rushmore.
Mike Wright
Like in the nose.
Andy Holloway
Did Brooks. Did you set this up? Brooks, are you trying to take. Is this a Kevin Bacon thing where you're connecting every question to each other?
Mike Wright
I did not.
Andy Holloway
Been listening for just over a year. Never missed a podcast. Every trade question, dynasty standard scoring, two wide receiver, two running back in a flex. All right, here's the trade. Carlos Hyde and Stefan Diggs for Todd Gurley and Amir Abdullah. It's a no. That's a no brainer for me. That is a no brainer. I would do that. I'd rather have Gurley and Amir Abdullah.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I believe that. I. Yeah. I'm going to make this trade just in hope. Oh, man.
Andy Holloway
Todd Gurley is still a great dynasty asset as of today at the right position.
Mike Wright
Yes, as of today he is.
Andy Holloway
But the argument then is you. You're holding on tightly to Stefan Diggs because you can't see. Do you see Carlos Hyde as a long term dynasty play?
Mike Wright
I think that Carlos Hyde still has long term value. As in. I mean, his. I think his days are likely numbered in San Francisco. But that doesn't mean the end of Carlos Hyde. He's a. I think he's a very good player one. Granted, he falls in that list of guys I like who can't stay on the field. But you could say the same thing for Diggs and Amir Abdullah. They just. No one can stay healthy. And if I made this trade for Gurley and Abdullah, I would try to flip Gurley pretty quickly afterwards.
Andy Holloway
You're going to regret that. Mike, do you know where you have Gurley so far this year?
Mike Wright
Yes, I think that he still ended up currently as like my 13.
Andy Holloway
Oh, I'll take that from you. From a hater.
Mike Wright
Yeah. And I mean, I've got him. I don't like him.
Andy Holloway
I've got him at the niner spot.
Mike Wright
I don't like him there.
Andy Holloway
I got him pushing and pulling with Marshawn lynch this year in Redraft. All right, this one comes in from Shocky in Higgins. Where do you think Higgins is? I have no clue where Higgins is.
Mike Wright
Dang it. There's something is standing on my head as a Higgins.
Andy Holloway
Standing on your Head.
Mike Wright
No standing out. There's a reference in here somewhere.
Andy Holloway
He did say standing on his head.
Mike Wright
Did I? You did.
Andy Holloway
I don't know where Higgins is. If I click Google Maps, Higgins is.
Mike Wright
Moving on.
Andy Holloway
Texas. Higgins, Texas.
Mike Wright
My name is Shockey. After the beauty. Jeremy Shockey. Question is now the draft us has settled, who do I keep? 14 team 4 player, keeper, half point PPR, Beckham, Hilton, Howard are locks. All right, so we're just picking one. Decide between Johnny Stewart, Rashard Matthews, Willie Snead and CJ Pro size. He also. He traded away some things so he needs to get this right. So Stewart, Richard, Snead or Prosise, half point PPR. Who you got?
Andy Holloway
14 teamer and his locks are Howard, Hilton and OBJ. Is that Jordan Howard then?
Mike Wright
Yes.
Andy Holloway
Man, I. God, it's really hard. It's really. I guess Willie Snead.
Mike Wright
Yeah, the guy I want.
Andy Holloway
Willie Sneed's the pick.
Mike Wright
The one I want is Willie Snead. But you also are running into a.
Andy Holloway
It's not pro size or Matthews for me. So between John Stewart and speed in.
Mike Wright
A half point, you. You do need to consider the position scarcity. You're in a 14 team 4 keeper. If you're only keeping the one running back and you go with Hilton, Beckham and Snead, you're okay. I just, I don't know. I like that.
Andy Holloway
So go Jonathan Stewart then. Because if he has OBJ and Hilton, he's already got two wide outs. You said the depth, the position scarcity. I mean Jonathan Stewart take the touchdowns. I don't, I don't know if the.
Mike Wright
Touchdowns are going to be there for Jonathan Stewart this year. I know they were there last year, but go two years ago. They weren't there.
Andy Holloway
No, I know it's not. I don't like any of the picks. Like none of them jump off his.
Mike Wright
Yeah. So I'm just. I don't love anybody either, so. Or the one I like the most is Snead. So I'm just going to take the guy.
Andy Holloway
Like I think he's the highest upside of the four. So David in Gaithersburg, Maryland, keep two as round one and two picks. Keeper one, David Johnson. Well, yeah, that's done. Keeper two, C.J. anderson, Adrian Peterson, Matt Ryan, Thomas Rawls or Eddie Lacy. Do you keep any of those for second round value? I guess you have to pick one.
Mike Wright
The answer is no. But if I have to pick one.
Andy Holloway
I'm going to take Adrian Peterson on that saints offense over C.J. anderson. And with those rumors Abounding about Mark.
Mike Wright
Ingram, that that would change things drastically for me. It's a PPR though. Oh man, it's absolutely between Anderson and Adrian Peterson for me. I just, I'm very concerned that Peterson is done and.
Andy Holloway
Well then, then what side, which one are you taking?
Mike Wright
Eileen Anderson.
Andy Holloway
Do you want to split the difference for us? Brooks Peterson or CJ Anderson this year?
Mike Wright
I go, cj.
Andy Holloway
All right. All right. Here's a question from David in Wisconsin. In grading players, how would you weigh a player's past results in eight talents like a 40 yard dash, broad jump, etc. And projected future?
Mike Wright
Sure. So basically just how do we rank our players? How do we stat out guys? And I will tell you, I can't give you an exact numeric value of how much those things weigh, but everything is factored into when you're looking at a player. Their past production, coaching changes, offensive player changes on the team, what are their actual, what's their ceiling athletically, age trends from season to seasons, watching them on tape. Because there are things that, that don't, that show up on tape that don't show up in the actual athletic measurables. I mean there's, there are so many things to factor when you're, when you're ranking a guy.
Andy Holloway
I'll give an example because we've been doing obviously all of our detailed statistical projections for every player at every position because that's part of the udk. You get access on the website to the free rankings right now and our consensus rankings, but that doesn't include the in depth stat numbers behind each player. When I was projecting a guy like so devonte Parker came across my statistical to do list today. Right. I'm looking at devonte Parker and I'm saying we don't have a long track record with devonte Parker. Right. Like you don't have a long period of trends. You have some film, you have two different offensive coordinators, two different head coaches for devonte Parker over the last two years. So I start to look at another piece of that whole puzzle for me was a comp for devonte Parker. What's his role in the offense going to be and what player historically do I compare that to? And for me with devontae Parker specifically, I was looking back to some of the early Vincent Jackson years in San Diego as another piece of the puzzle for statting him out a low reception type of high impact, larger yards per catch type of guy. And so that was one of the things I used to try to stat that player. But all of those things that Mike just talked about, they factor in. And at some point there's the intangible things too. You know how you think this player like Mark Ingram relates to the coaching staff? What's the risk this player can fall out of favor with a team? What's the risk that. I mean, you just brought up the situation with Ben Jarvis Green Ellis from a few years ago.
Mike Wright
Yes. Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Tell everybody about what you were talking about.
Mike Wright
So we were talking about, well, where do you have Joe Mixon? And I mean if you want to go follow draft Twitter and all of us, we want Joe Mixon to be the three down guy. Immediately you think, well, Jeremy Hill has been trending down since his rookie year. Gio Bernard is coming off an acl. But go back to Gio Bernard's rookie season. He was a second round pick. The exact same draft capital was spent on him. The team had Ben Jarvis, Green Ellis in front of Gio Bernard and he was awful, just awful. But Marvin Lewis continued to play him, continued to give him more touches than Giovanni Bernard. Now Gio still managed to be effective and was a solid fantasy play his rookie year. But Marvin Lewis doesn't like rookies. He's proven this year and year in and year out. You look at Tyler or Tyler Boyd.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Last year people wanted it. The draft capital on Boyd said, okay, they're going to play him right away. Nope.
Andy Holloway
What's the first thing out of the mouth of Marvin Lewis about Joe Mixon this offseason?
Mike Wright
I don't know. What is it?
Andy Holloway
Not in shape.
Mike Wright
Oh, oh, yes. Yeah, we already have that.
Andy Holloway
Not in shape.
Mike Wright
So while I want to love mixing, this is what we're talking about. When you're, when you're ranking a guy, how does a coach use his rookies? That factors in heavily.
Andy Holloway
Right. All right, what's the next question we have here?
Mike Wright
One man keeper, Tyler Cheek.
Andy Holloway
All right, go ahead, you read it.
Mike Wright
Love the show, guys. I did not bring home the hashtag foot clan title last year, but it's not stopped me from listening. Well, thank you. Thank you, Tyler. Thank you for persevering. I'm in a one man keeper. I have Melvin Gordon and Devontae Freeman. Who do I keep? Both are amazing value. This is a standard scoring league. One keeper, Melvin Gorder.
Andy Holloway
Goiter. Melvin's Goiter.
Mike Wright
Melvin Gordon or Devonte Freeman.
Andy Holloway
Wow. I'm standard league, right?
Mike Wright
I'm taking, I'm taking Freeman.
Andy Holloway
Great. I'm taking Melvin Gordon. I just, I have him raised higher.
Mike Wright
Sorry, standard league.
Andy Holloway
I'm going to take Melvin Gordon. They've done nothing to make me think that his workloads changing this year.
Mike Wright
Is Jason got a tiebreaker for us? I was going to say I believe that Jason.
Andy Holloway
Wait, no, no, no. He just growls today. Today he's just been growling. So I.
Mike Wright
Look, he's got Freeman ranked higher.
Andy Holloway
So there's two ways to look at it. You can freak out about making the right decision, or you can realize you have two great situations here. I love both guys. They're both in my top 10. So, Brooks, who do you have?
Mike Wright
Freeman.
Andy Holloway
All right, all right. Need one or two of three potential keepers here. That's what we're on, right? Charlie, Charlie, Charlie in New Jersey must keep one. Can keep a second. Shady for a second round pick. Dak for a tenth, Heaven for an eleven. Ooh, give me Tevin and Shady. Absolutely no doubt about it.
Mike Wright
I mean, the Dak, that's for a late quarterback, you know, 10th round, that's, that's good. But it's also, it's a 10 team keeper. So you devalue quarterback even more. And unless for some reason, Charlie, this was a two quarterback league and you did not tell us about it, if that's the case, then Dak would be in, would be one of the keepers. But Shady and Coleman, that's great value.
Andy Holloway
June in Chicago says two keeper league, full ppr. Who do you keep? Gurley, Rawls, Henry Riddick, Arab, Fitz, Ty or Tate.
Mike Wright
Wow.
Andy Holloway
Full ppr. Welcome to the party. It's not Rawls. It's not Henry Hilton is in. I want to say this for the first time in 2017 breaking news. Not the last time. The first time, really like Golden Tate this year.
Mike Wright
I don't blame you. Like Golden Tate, I do not blame you.
Andy Holloway
Really wish I hadn't said that for the sake of like one of our leagues that I'm in that.
Mike Wright
Do you have an offer?
Andy Holloway
I'm gonna go poking for him. No, not yet. I was gotta make the offer before you. I know it's all about the people here, Mike. It's not about my team. But in case you only listen to this one part. I hate Golden Tate. Just hate. I love Golden Tate. I mean, he's guaranteed, barring a problem with his health, 90 plus reception. It's just locked. Just locked and loaded.
Mike Wright
Which PPR? That's tremendous.
Andy Holloway
But that being said, who do you take? I don't know if it's golden tape.
Mike Wright
I mean, I'd love to have Riddick in a full point ppr. I mean, that's That's a huge uptick for running back. Although, what's the workload?
Andy Holloway
Yeah. With Abdullah, that's going to be.
Mike Wright
If Abdullah can play 16 games, which. That's also a question in itself. You have to keep Hilton. Even though he's not a prototypical PPR.
Andy Holloway
He's still up over 80 catches last.
Mike Wright
Year, but he's great. I wish he would just scored a little bit more touchdowns, a couple more, but. But he's still in and between Tate, and I will consider Fitz as well.
Andy Holloway
Well, you got to be considering Alan Robinson, too. I mean, he. He still is up over 80 receptions as well.
Mike Wright
Yeah. What if Fitz led the league last year? Right?
Andy Holloway
109. 109 for Larry Fitzgerald.
Mike Wright
Man, I'm going to go.
Andy Holloway
Oh, I'm going to take Gurley and I'm going to take Hilton.
Mike Wright
Gross. Yeah, you got to jump in here with that. Gurley.
Andy Holloway
43 receptions last year for Todd Gurley. Position scarcity is still an issue. All right.
Mike Wright
That's what I'll say.
Andy Holloway
All right, whatever.
Mike Wright
Dunbar, a coach who likes to use a 2 running.
Andy Holloway
You might as well just say. If you say Lance Dunbar's name, you might as well say stress fracture.
Mike Wright
No, he's back.
Andy Holloway
Oh, he's back. He's been back multiple times.
Mike Wright
He's back, baby. You just.
Andy Holloway
You cannot not project an injured guy for a great year.
Mike Wright
What do I do?
Andy Holloway
Right. When am I going to hear you actually say, like, oh, man, this guy. This guy can't stay healthy. Don't draft him. Is that ever going to happen?
Mike Wright
No.
Andy Holloway
Oh, my goodness. Never.
Mike Wright
Never.
Andy Holloway
I'm going to be honest with you right now. I looked down at the tv, at the TV monitor. I kind of got scared for a second. I forgot. I forgot there was a gigantic bear in the studio, and I did a double take, wondering what was wrong. Like, I'm a little bit afraid. And this thing is humongous. Like the scale of a grizzly bear. Very large.
Mike Wright
Okay, I'm going Hilton, and I'm going to go Tate. That's tough. That's a very tough one.
Andy Holloway
It is. John and Jackson has a question. Has Marcus Mariota received enough help at the wide receiver position in the draft to help balance his fantasy value with the potential mobility issues that accompanied his injury last season?
Mike Wright
P.S.
Andy Holloway
The voice of public opinion is amazing. Voice of public opinion. What are your thoughts on this one? Oh, crap. Has he received enough help? I guess the question of has he received enough help is are we going to get 16 games instead of eight good ones from Marcus Mariota?
Mike Wright
That's an excellent question. I think he's gotten a huge upgrade. You talk one of the biggest winners of the draft.
Andy Holloway
This was a clean fracture, right? I mean, a clean. Yeah, he'll be like, fracture. I'm not worried about mobility.
Mike Wright
No, he's going to be back. But they've added Davis, which they went all in on him with a top five pick, and then Taywan Taylor and they've. Who is a slot wide receiver. And they accompanied that by saying we're going to run 3 wide more often than we did last year, which I know we talked about.
Andy Holloway
There's still Murray, there's still a run for Lainey Walker, but they're going to.
Mike Wright
Throw more and I think the balance will be a little bit closer than it was last year, but I love it. I think that both of those are good receivers and I think that Corey Davis can transcend into being a great wide receiver in time.
Andy Holloway
Year one, though, what is Corey Davis, Year one, I think that enough of a difference maker to make Mariota more stable.
Mike Wright
I think so.
Andy Holloway
Okay.
Mike Wright
I think so.
Andy Holloway
All right. Thad in St. Louis wants to know your preferred draft spot. Mike, personal preference here. What's the. Because there's no right or wrong answer necessarily. Although, you know, I have my, my strong opinion here where I want to be able to draft one of those top three premier running backs. I'm all about the running back in the first round.
Mike Wright
You're all about those three guys in.
Andy Holloway
The first place, specifically David Johnson, Ezekiel Elliott and Le'Veon Bell.
Mike Wright
Yeah. And I would say every year it changes a little bit because I want to just make sure that I'm in that top tier of player. And for, for me, this year, as of right now, it's the six, you know, the three running backs Andy mentioned then Brown, Beckham, Julio Jones. And it's a lot of people throw.
Andy Holloway
Mike Evans in that group and I don't. Yeah.
Mike Wright
And you're so. I love Mike Evans very much.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, you do. Way, way too much.
Mike Wright
But he's just, he's not in my, in that top, top tier for me. So this year, as of right now, I want to be in the top six.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. And I'll say preferred. I'll say top three preferred. So here's a good transition question here. Ryan in New York asked about safe and risky players. Who do we think are the riskiest players and safest players currently being drafted in the first two rounds in the upcoming season in terms of fantasy production and why for me, I look two names that jump off are safest being a guy like Antonio Brown.
Mike Wright
Yes.
Andy Holloway
And riskiest being a guy like Todd Gurley going in the first two rounds because you had a bad year. There might be a riskier player though.
Mike Wright
I'm pulling it up.
Andy Holloway
Is Devonte Adams going in the first two rounds?
Mike Wright
I'm jumping in here to fantasy football calculator and let's see. No, Adams is in a third round.
Andy Holloway
Or give me some second round players.
Mike Wright
Do you want. Should I switch to PPR scoring because it's the new standard?
Andy Holloway
Sure.
Mike Wright
All right, I'm pulling that up.
Andy Holloway
Standard's the new PPR though. Right.
Mike Wright
So riskiest guys in the top two rounds. I think I agree that Todd Gurley for me is the standout as.
Andy Holloway
What about Marshawn Lynch? Is he going in the top two rounds?
Mike Wright
I don't think he has filtered his way up.
Andy Holloway
Do you think he will?
Mike Wright
Maybe into the back of the second and if he's in the back of the second, no freaking way am I jumping in on that. I haven't projected high but that's. That's a risky endeavor.
Andy Holloway
You're a an enigma, Mike, because you love the injured guys with high potential. But you just acted really freaked out about Marshawn Lynch. Where's your risk when it comes push comes to shove. Where are you taking that?
Mike Wright
Will I take Marshawn Lynch? I'll take him above Gurley, but I won't take. I will unlikely to take either in the second round.
Andy Holloway
All right, I'll tell you this for sure.
Mike Wright
I'm not taking Todd Gurley in the second round. So that means I would not take Marshawn lynch in the second round. She did some logic for you.
Andy Holloway
There you go. Patrick in Linton, Indiana. Last question. I have thought about drafting a quarterback, tight end, defense, kicker.
Mike Wright
But as in the same team, one.
Andy Holloway
Qb, tight end, defense, kicker. Yeah. I'm confused by this question because he says my qb, tight end, defense kicker are all in different bye weeks. How do you feel about that strategy? You see that question there?
Mike Wright
Who are we talking about?
Andy Holloway
This is Patrick in Linden, Linton, Indiana. Hey, I don't understand that one. So I'm going to move on to Brendan in Lawrence. I keep Lev Bell for a first this year, which I plan to do. We always do a draft position competition and so my question is should I hashtag trust the process and tank to get a later first rounder and an earlier second rounder to ensure getting a top notch receiver to pair Bell with or just try in the competition you.
Mike Wright
Play to Win the game.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
I do not. Do not tank. Do not tank. There's things happen. You find late round gems, people get injured. What you have on paper to start the beginning of the year is. That's not what's going to happen.
Andy Holloway
No, it isn't.
Mike Wright
You need to be ready. You need to build your foundation in the draft, but you need to be ready to adapt in the season. And I'm not, I'm not doing that. It's just this is the. For the, for the strategy of. For Dynasty players. You think, man, you're selling everything. You want all youth, you want all rookies. In three years, I'm just going to keep building and building and I'm going to build this monster Juggernaut team. You will be. You're building the. What is that the Babylon? Am I. Is that the right reference? I know Tower of Babel.
Andy Holloway
Okay.
Mike Wright
The Tower, they just keep building and building and for nothing. For nothing. It would never get there. You're chasing the end of a rainbow if you go that way.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, no, I get what you're saying now. Didn't get the Babylon part, but you got. Oh, I made the Tower of Babel.
Mike Wright
I think it's Tower of Babel. And then I mixed it a little with Babylon 5 there. Tower of Babylon 5. There's a new show. I just passed it.
Andy Holloway
All right.
Mike Wright
There's a bear in this room and it's throwing off all my mojo.
Andy Holloway
All right, that is it for today's show. Thanks for listening to the Fantasy Footballers podcast here. Subscribe on itunes. Leave us reviews. Let us know how we can make the show better for you. We have a lot in store for the listeners of this show. This offseason. We're going to be getting into things like sleepers and breakouts, busts and values. We're going to talk and keep you up to date on which players are moving up and down the ADP boards. So that's average draft position. What are the trends, so to speak? Right? Like if a trade happens, if Mark Ingram goes to Philly, you're going to see a big movement on that board and the implications for that. Another thing we want to look at is, you know, maybe some of the dynasty implications of the rookies that were being drafted. How did they hurt other guys? You know, a Joe Williams in San Francisco. How does that affect Carlos Hyde long term in Dynasty? Joe Mixon in Cincinnati. So we're going to get into that and a whole lot more. A bunch of mock draft episodes. It'll be jam packed. I can promise you that. If you want to take part in our community, check out jointhefoot.com Otherwise, we'll see you on Thursday. Stay tuned. We're going to do a show after the show.

Episode Title: Fantasy Football Podcast 2017 - Rookie Steals, Keeper Quandaries, and Bears. Oh my!
Release Date: May 9, 2017
Hosts: Andy Holloway, Jason Moore (represented by a cardboard cutout), and Mike "The Fantasy Hitman" Wright
The episode kicks off with a humorous and chaotic start as Mike Wright joins Andy Holloway with a playful twist—sporting a paper bag over his head. Andy remarks on the unusual setup:
Andy Holloway [01:00]: "I am sitting at the table here attempting to host a fantasy football podcast. Across from me with a paper bag over his head is Mike the Fantasy Hitman."
Mike gleefully reveals his new look, highlighting his recent haircut:
Mike Wright [01:25]: "My hair has been cut off. It looks mighty fine."
Andy humorously contrasts his own hair situation with Jason Moore's absence, substituting him with a "two scale grizzly bear" cardboard cutout:
Andy Holloway [02:22]: "In place of Jason, today is a two scale grizzly bear."
This lighthearted banter sets a relaxed and entertaining tone for the episode.
The hosts delve into the topic of identifying undervalued rookies who might not be first-round picks but offer substantial fantasy value. Andy poses the question:
Andy Holloway [05:26]: "Who’s your favorite rookie that is not projected to be a first-round rookie draft pick?"
Mike Wright advocates for Marlon Mack of the Indianapolis Colts, emphasizing his talent and the favorable landing spot:
Mike Wright [05:32]: "I like Marlon Mack. I think that he could be big enough to be more than just a scat back for them."
Andy, however, leans towards Joe Williams from the San Francisco 49ers, citing his potential mid-season emergence:
Andy Holloway [07:00]: "I’ll go with Joe Williams because I think they’re the team that is most willing to hand those keys off to somebody younger as they rebuild."
The discussion highlights the importance of team dynamics and offensive strategies in evaluating rookie potential.
A significant rumor emerges regarding Mark Ingram, with speculation about him possibly moving to the Philadelphia Eagles due to the New Orleans Saints' center injury issues:
Andy Holloway [11:29]: "Rumors have now abounded from multiple sources about a potential Mark Ingram for Jason Kelsey, right center for the Philadelphia Eagles."
Mike Wright expresses excitement about Ingram potentially enhancing the Eagles' backfield:
Mike Wright [13:32]: "They can use Mark Ingram. He can catch the ball. He’s been very efficient."
A major update for fantasy players comes as ESPN announces changes to their Defense/Special Teams (DST) scoring:
Andy Holloway [13:55]: "ESPN is changing their DST scoring. Defense, special teams will no longer be docked for points surrendered by the team's offense."
This change eliminates the issue where a team's offensive mistakes previously negatively impacted their fantasy DST performance.
Further solidifying the shift towards a Passive Reception (PPR) scoring system, ESPN now sets PPR as the default for new leagues:
Andy Holloway [15:22]: "Now, Defense, special teams will no longer be docked... PPR will now be their default scoring system."
The hosts acknowledge this as a positive move, aligning with their advocacy for tier-based drafting and half-point per reception leagues.
Marshawn Lynch announces his retirement from the NFL, transitioning to a broadcasting role with Fox Sports. The hosts speculate on his potential on-air dynamics with Tony Romo:
Andy Holloway [16:10]: "What are you expecting from the Jay Cutler Tony Romo battle in the broadcast booth? Who wins that one?"
Andy humorously predicts:
Andy Holloway [16:41]: "My money’s on Jay Cuddy."
Robbie Anderson, a wide receiver for the New York Jets, faces legal troubles with an arrest in Miami:
Andy Holloway [17:12]: "Jets wide receiver Robbie Anderson... charged with resisting arrest and violence of obstruction of justice."
Additionally, uncertainty looms over the Dallas Cowboys' offensive line with Jonathan Cooper potentially replacing other linemen:
Andy Holloway [18:08]: "Patriots cut him, Patriots got him. And then he's been cut since then... Jonathan Cooper could end up at left guard."
A listener named Brandon inquires about the "Mount Rushmore" of all-time fantasy football players:
Brandon [22:41]: "Everyone loves ranking stuff. I was wondering what your guys Mount Rushmore of fantasy football players all time is."
Andy Holloway and Mike Wright discuss iconic players, with Andy listing LT and Peyton Manning, while Mike adds legends like Randy Moss and touches on modern greats like Tom Brady.
Andy Holloway [23:10]: "The first two names I wrote down were LT and Peyton Manning."
Another listener, Phil from Fresno, presents a keeper dilemma:
Phil [24:39]: "I have to keep two of the following players: Amari Cooper, DeMarco Murray, Allen Robinson, Marshawn Lynch, or Greg Olson. It's a half point per reception league."
Mike Wright and Andy Holloway debate the merits, ultimately recommending keeping DeMarco Murray and Amari Cooper for their strong performance and team situations.
Mike Wright [24:41]: "DeMarco Murray is a lock and I'm probably... leaning Amari Cooper."
A listener asks about the wisdom of trading Carlos Hyde and Stefon Diggs for Todd Gurley and Amir Johnson:
Dave [27:17]: "Carlos Hyde and Stefan Diggs for Todd Gurley and Amir Abdullah. It's a no?"
Both hosts concur that acquiring Todd Gurley and Amir Johnson is a favorable move, emphasizing Gurley's value as a dynasty asset despite some reservations about long-term stability.
Andy Holloway [27:48]: "I'd go with Gurley and Amir Abdullah."
Listener Ryan from New York seeks opinions on the safest and riskiest players to draft in the first two rounds:
Ryan [35:09]: "Who do we think are the riskiest players and safest players currently being drafted in the first two rounds?"
Andy identifies Antonio Brown as a safe bet and Todd Gurley as risky due to his inconsistent performance that year:
Andy Holloway [44:24]: "Safest being a guy like Antonio Brown. Riskiest being a guy like Todd Gurley going in the first two rounds."
Thad from St. Louis asks about preferred draft positions:
Thad [43:18]: "What's your preferred draft spot?"
Mike Wright expresses a preference to be within the top six to secure premier running backs:
Mike Wright [43:20]: "This year, as of right now, I want to be in the top six."
Andy Holloway aligns slightly differently, preferring a top-three spot to ensure acquiring elite running backs:
Andy Holloway [43:23]: "I'll say top three preferred."
The episode wraps up with the hosts teasing upcoming content, including sleeper picks, breakout players, and mock drafts. They encourage listeners to join their community at jointhefoot.com and follow them on Twitter for ongoing updates.
Andy Holloway [49:07]: "We are going to be getting into things like sleepers and breakouts, busts and values... a bunch of mock draft episodes."
