To the Fantasy Footballers Podcast with your hosts, Andy Holloway and Mike Wright. Welcome to the show.
Andy Holloway
Howdy. Howdy. All you hep cats, all you discount double checkers. Oh, yeah.
Mike Wright
Might want to stay at a single chance.
Andy Holloway
Check. Yeah. Don't double check unless you want to be out for the season.
Mike Wright
You double check your acl.
Andy Holloway
Ouch, man. That's not a highlight. That's a low light from the weekend of football.
Mike Wright
Or as the Arizona Cardinal fans call it, we call that grammatic ing.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. After the bill Gramatica. I just made a field goal and my career's over. Celebration. Yeah. Don't get hurt while you're celebrating. It doesn't look so. You know, he said he has no regrets too.
Mike Wright
That's.
Andy Holloway
Everybody celebrates.
Mike Wright
He should have a lot.
Andy Holloway
Everybody celebrates.
Mike Wright
I think the. The new rule should be for a celebration. Maybe you keep your feet on the ground.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Don't discount. Double check Aaron Rodgers or. Yeah, you might. I know the end up on the ground.
Mike Wright
That eliminates them. The chest bump, which is. I don't know. I like that one.
Andy Holloway
I'm sure Roger Goodell will take that away soon enough.
Mike Wright
Yeah, probably. I know. I've always been a big fan of the jump high five from like the 1980s.
Andy Holloway
Nice.
Mike Wright
Big fan.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Well, welcome to the fourth week.
Mike Wright
Have we even said the show name yet?
Andy Holloway
No. Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers. This is Andy Holloway with my.
Mike Wright
I'm Mike Wright.
Andy Holloway
There you go.
Mike Wright
I think this is. It's week four, but it's only our third show. But that doesn't really matter. It's week four of the NFL.
Andy Holloway
Attention to that. Yeah, we. We brought you the latest in fantasy football last week, bringing it again today. Gonna give you some news notes from around the league, give you some waiver wire information, some starts, some sits, gonna answer some questions.
Mike Wright
We are gonna try a little bit of a different format from last week. Felt like we had a little bit too much information to cram into one show, so we're gonna try and limit it.
Andy Holloway
Before we give you what's really important.
Mike Wright
We up our show count because we are. We are doing this for the love.
Andy Holloway
For the love. So if we got more listeners, we got more people, then we'll do it.
Mike Wright
For the love of money, right?
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Or just if you beg us to, we'll do it as well. We like talking fantasy football as long as there are people to talk to. So if you have a question, don't hesitate to send that in to the fantasy footballersmail.com or you can go to our website at the fantasy footballers.com and submit the question there. We also have a Facebook page now.
Mike Wright
Did you know that? I do. I liked it.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. So if you are on Facebook, find us the fantasy footballers and come like the page. Submit your questions and we will answer them and then you will.
Mike Wright
In the order that we get them right.
Andy Holloway
And you will win your league. So that is. That is one of the perks of listening to our show.
Mike Wright
That is 100% accurate.
Andy Holloway
All right. You want to get into it?
Mike Wright
Yeah, let's do it. News and notes from around the league.
Andy Holloway
All right, so let's talk a little bit about what happened this last week. Something stick out for you in the fantasy world?
Mike Wright
Well, it's got to be that. That the. The monstrosity. In a good way. That was that Eagles Redskins game.
Andy Holloway
That was a fantasy bonanza.
Mike Wright
Oh, that was a feast.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
For anyone who had any shares in that game. Unless you are the LeSean McCoy owner. Sorry.
Andy Holloway
So weird to have a bonanza. That or Darren Sprols after the week before.
Mike Wright
Well, I mean I don't. I'm not. I'm not sure who of the Sprouls owners was. Was starting him over. More quality. Right guy.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. The running game wasn't there for Philly, but Nick Foles was and he's one of the stars of the week for sure.
Mike Wright
That guy. And I watched. I watched that whole game because I was trying to check out my. My shares of. Of captain Kirk Cousins because I wanted to see what was happening. But man falls when he got lit up first. First he got hurt and then he got Warnered which I will refer to it as on that.
Andy Holloway
As in Kurt Warner. Yes, as in blindside block.
Mike Wright
The completely unnecessary. I'm just gonna take a shot at the quarterback because I can. Brutal who he. And he got flagged for that. Which I mean, I guess you should.
Andy Holloway
That doesn't take away the pain.
Mike Wright
No.
Andy Holloway
In his shoulder and the.
Mike Wright
In the. The pick didn't was. It was a drop. So that was all for it. But I mean I. My.
Andy Holloway
For a high scoring game, Foles tore it up. But Ertz, McCoy, Sproles.
Mike Wright
Yes.
Andy Holloway
Those are some painful. But yeah, I mean there was. That was definitely one of the headliner games you had. You had the Seattle Denver game, which was something of a sadness for a lot of the Denver player owners because some people didn't start Peyton Manning, some people didn't start their studs. They worried about Emmanuel Sanders because Welker was coming back and that proved to be a mistake. If you benched Emmanuel Sanders, who is off to a great start this year. But Marshawn lynch owners were happy certainly.
Mike Wright
Especially with the overtime gift.
Andy Holloway
Isn't that just beautiful when you, when you need some extra points and a game goes to overtime like that?
Mike Wright
Yeah, I was and that was very conflicted for me as the Cardinal fan where with them going to overtime and desiring a Marshawn lynch touchdown but not wanting them to lose.
Andy Holloway
Seattle, yes. Seattle not winning. Well, it should give a little bit of hope that maybe Seattle can be challenged this year. And obviously Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, they're the number one and number two fantasy quarterback backs again this year. Oh wait, no, that's Ryan. Matt Ryan and Andrew Luck are the top two fantasy quarterbacks right now. Andrew Luck is slinging touchdowns like a villain.
Mike Wright
He is. What was that? What was that? The movie with Emilio and Charlie where they're the garbage men with men at work.
Andy Holloway
You're gonna have to take this one all by yourself.
Mike Wright
I can't remember the name of them but my, my reference is just. They just seem to be just garbage man.
Andy Holloway
Wait, who does?
Mike Wright
Andrew Lux.
Andy Holloway
Touchdowns, I don't think you know, when Trent Richardson cannot run the ball into the end zone, it certainly affects things so.
Mike Wright
And I don't, man, that's just the way that it's coming off to me. I mean you can't take. He's played well and Trent Richardson sucks and Bradshaw is a, is a good pass catching back. So it makes sense that that's how the touchdowns are coming. But I mean they ran it up on the Jaguars.
Andy Holloway
So from a stud standpoint, we have some wide receivers that had great weeks and I want to ask you which guys you think are sticking around.
Mike Wright
Okay.
Andy Holloway
Now obviously Julio Jones had a monster.
Mike Wright
That guy. He will. He's done after this week. Yeah.
Andy Holloway
I was gonna say not much question to him, but sell high. Julio Jones is he odds on favorite to be top the top three.
Mike Wright
He was coming, coming into the season. He was in my top three. Where and which is it would be Calvin, DEZ and Julio. And to me it, to me any.
Andy Holloway
Any of those guys could.
Mike Wright
Yeah. Where, where people are when people ask me, I would advise like don't take Calvin in the first round because to.
Andy Holloway
Me if you get one of those.
Mike Wright
If you just get one of those.
Andy Holloway
Guys, you're perfectly fine.
Mike Wright
So take a running back or whatever.
Andy Holloway
I can agree with.
Mike Wright
So they're just really interchangeable. You don't know for sure who's going to be the number one overall. And Julio is looking nice.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Touchdown in half of a game.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
And another guy, a couple guys worth talking about too and seeing their long. What's their long term value is the two wide outs from Washington that now have a revitalized passing game under the pocket passer Kirk Cousins. The dislocated ankle of Mr. RG3 has kind of put to bed any controversy there. And now we have big weeks from both of those guys this week.
Mike Wright
So I think it's good to point out Jay Gruden. Wow. I wouldn't say he's my favorite coach. I think that a coach should never try to fit his, his players into a scheme like don't, don't force your players to change how they play like he was trying to do to Griffin, which I think Griffin is a very talented guy. But that problem is gone now because Kirk Cousins is the perfect mold for his. What he wants to do offensively. And let us not forget what success he had with the Red Rocket in Cincinnati.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. He has a history of putting fantasy quarterbacks into a position or quarterbacks in a position where relevant.
Mike Wright
I don't think Andy Dalton is the best talent or anywhere I would put him. I don't maybe in the middle as far as talented quarterbacks, but for his system he was great.
Andy Holloway
And Kirk Cousins came out and albeit against a poorest secondary in Philadelphia. He was in Philadelphia and put up 429 or 427 yards, three touchdowns, a monstrous only one pick. Monstrous fantasy game.
Mike Wright
And Roy Helou shafted him. In my fantasy Roy Lou is a.
Andy Holloway
Lot slower than I thought.
Mike Wright
I thought Lou was really fast.
Andy Holloway
Well, he wasn't. What we're talking about is the 80 yard touchdown he would have had down.
Mike Wright
The sideline had he got chased down.
Andy Holloway
Your grandmother. Yeah. But big week from Kirk Cousins. So the question is, do you play Kirk Cousins going forward? Is he a top 12 quarterback this week for sure. And then he's got Seattle and Arizona after that. So that might be.
Mike Wright
That's where you're going to find out what can he actually do?
Andy Holloway
Yeah, that'll be tough. And that that game is at least home against Seattle. But Kirk Cousins, he has made Pierre Garcon into a PPR monster last which he already.
Mike Wright
We already knew Garcon was.
Andy Holloway
Well, he had that capability. But because we saw him last year. Yeah. The question was will he do it consistently with Griffin or not and this year and under Gruden.
Mike Wright
So what do you think now with Cousins throwing? Do you think he is back to that?
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I think, I think you have Kind of a. To be honest, a really similar situation to me to Reggie Wayne and Ty Hilton. Okay. Maybe last year where Wayne is in the garcon mold. Route runner, ppr, third downs, possession guy and Hilton is that boomer bust. So I still think you're going to see low reception totals from D jacks and probably big plays. But both guys are absolutely start worthy and I'd like to see, I think moving forward they're, they're good values at the wide receiver position.
Mike Wright
I would say I am scorching hot for Pierre Garcon.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
And I'll give myself a lukewarm on dj. I'm still. I. I would lean to agree with you more than not. But I'm just, I'm not 100% sold.
Andy Holloway
All right, well let's, let's talk about a couple of the running backs that kind of stood out this week. We have Le'Veon Bell continues to look really good as does DeMarco Murray.
Mike Wright
Yeah. And Le'Veon Bell, I think I can't remember the exact number but he did something that has not been accomplished for a very long time which was. What's that was an 80 plus yard run that did not result.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. And he still put up a monstrous.
Mike Wright
Fantasy week which we going into the year. I think a concern for Bell with, with especially because of the blunt conspiracy of what kind of touchdown value does Le'Veon Bell have. And he. It's very low at the moment but I think we've. I think the committee is. Is put to sleep done with that.
Andy Holloway
It's hard to say anybody's looked better than very hard him on the field and DeMarco Murray on the field right now.
Mike Wright
Yeah, Murray. But Murray does have the itis at the moment.
Andy Holloway
So let's, let's go and move on towards a section we like to call.
Mike Wright
Pooped in his big boy pants.
Andy Holloway
Oh yeah, sure.
Mike Wright
To be everyone's.
Andy Holloway
Why don't you explain this section to our listeners here.
Mike Wright
He pooped in his big boy pants is where we take a look at some players who would be considered top their starters.
Andy Holloway
The really hard part of fantasy football. Oh, these guys that you just knew.
Mike Wright
Were studs and then they.
Andy Holloway
Yep. Then they pooped in their big boy pants and didn't put up the performance you needed and you probably lost if you started them. So let's go through some of them.
Mike Wright
Let's start. So at quarterback, the sloppiest poop of the week was. Was to Matthew Stafford. 246 yards. Not bad. That's not good for staffing.
Andy Holloway
I mean, it's whatever.
Mike Wright
But zero touchdowns, two picks, one fumble.
Andy Holloway
Not man, that game did not pan out the way prognosticators saw it going.
Mike Wright
We thought big points were coming from both sides.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. I mean, because really, you can put Aaron Rodgers into this.
Mike Wright
Yeah, he was up for consideration.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Andy Dalton's another guy who. No touchdowns now last week. So some of these big names, I mean, those three guys are in the top five last year at the quarterback position and all three of of them ended up pooping their pants this week.
Mike Wright
So who do you got at running back?
Andy Holloway
Well, it shames me because I'm such an advocate for this man, but Eddie Lacy has just not performed. No, he's got a three week bowel movement going on here. That's just.
Mike Wright
He's constipated.
Andy Holloway
Oh, he is. The running game is constipated in Green Bay. Everything's constipated in Green Bay. And he's not helping the cause. And for all the people who, myself included, made big moves to get him high in the draft since his price was high. But there is hope. Did you know that?
Mike Wright
Oh, please, educate me on this.
Andy Holloway
There is hope because Eddie Lacey has had three of the most difficult run matchups and three kind of awkward situations to start. Now. This is the positive spin. If you're a Lacey owner, please, I'm begging you right now, don't sell low on Eddie Lacy because the value you're going to get for him is disgusting compared to what you paid for him. Okay. In week one, he had the concussion issue, played a Seattle defense that's kind of known for playing defense. And he still put up. He still put up eight or nine fantasy points in week two. They went down 21 to three against the Jets. Limited carries. McCarthy.
Mike Wright
Jets are great run defense.
Andy Holloway
They're great run defense. McCarthy came out and said they need to get in the ball more. And then Lacey decided to reward that endorsement by fumbling the first carry of the game this past week against another good run defense in Detroit. So here's the benchmark for Lacy next week. Chicago Bears defense, a game that Lacey has to perform in. If you see him struggle next week, if he struggles, start to panic, you'll start to panic and start to worry about James Starks eating into his carries because they have to get the run game going if they're going to get Aaron Rodgers in that offense going. So Eddie Lacy pooped his big boy pants this week. Who else?
Mike Wright
You got a wide receiver through some fault of his own some fault of injury, injuries and penalties. But Brandon Marshall, one catch, six yards.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. If you were one of those guys going into Monday Night Football hoping that he put you over the top, he did not. And you probably screamed into your pillow if you watched him catch the touchdown pass that he caught last night and had it called back with an irrelevant illegal hands to the face by an offensive lineman. So Marshall did not perform. I. What are your thoughts on him? Because he's kind of venturing into the category that. Well see Allison, Jeffrey had a good game so I'm not as worried about him. But he's venturing into this category of like CJ Spiller last year where Marshall plays no matter what and that is good unless he plays no matter what and is hurt. So do you have any concern or is this just an abnormality slash? He missed seven minutes of game time last night coming off the field going into the trainers room I would say yeah.
Mike Wright
Because we were all riding. You were still coasting off of that three touchdown game which if. If you remember that's really what he did. He just happened to catch three touchdowns and touchdowns.
Andy Holloway
It.
Mike Wright
If you. If you've played fantasy football for any touchdowns are the hardest to predict.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Of the game.
Andy Holloway
Absolutely.
Mike Wright
And so that it. An ankle injury does carry some concern for season long if he keeps playing through it. But I would say as a wariometer I would be at a four so I'm not.
Andy Holloway
Well their bot is not till week nine either so he does not have a reprieve coming. So let's hope he gets healthy. He will have a short week to prepare as well this as they go into Green Bay. So keep your eye. Or actually as Green Bay comes to Chicago. So keep your eye on that as well. Any other thoughts on the. On pooping duds of the week?
Mike Wright
Pooping. We. I put. I put Ertz. Zach Ertz in here because I think he was.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I would say all of those. Those three Philly guys probably right.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
LaShawn McCoy certainly didn't do much for owners but he's.
Mike Wright
I think he still crossed the ten point thresh.
Andy Holloway
No, he had a really, really bad week. Yeah, it wasn't even close. He. Well, lucky for him three points. Oh let me check here. He's oh my 3.1 19 carries for 22 yards. No catches out of the back. So we had a little bit of the concussion scare in that game if you remember. So that's something to worry about. But.
Mike Wright
But that's a sloppy. Yeah, that's a Sloppy one.
Andy Holloway
So let's, let's move on here and.
Mike Wright
Put me in coach.
Andy Holloway
Let's talk some waivers, let's talk some waiver wire. Let's get you some players on your team so you can come in maybe recover from some of these injuries we've seen. And who do you like this week?
Mike Wright
Who looks like let's go with the juicy position.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Okay.
Mike Wright
With running back. Hopefully you listen to our podc last week when I was on the podium for Donald Brown.
Andy Holloway
Yes. Now Donald Brown received downtown a few carries this week.
Mike Wright
Yeah, he didn't do a ton of them ton with the carries but he the. The Danny Woodhead injury makes my proclamation look a lot better than it did. But when a guy is getting that kind of volume good things are going to happen fantasy wise and he's got.
Andy Holloway
Reminds me a lot of years ago when Cedric Benson was getting huge quantity and good things are going to happen like you said.
Mike Wright
And he had a great matchup this week against the Jaguars.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. And he's up to about 90% owned so he's probably not a free agent option for many of you but he's looking really good if you picked him up last week in terms of other guys that are looking up.
Mike Wright
Trending up but trending.
Andy Holloway
Alfred Blue has to be in the discussion.
Mike Wright
Hopefully hopefully running back.
Andy Holloway
You are a Texas.
Mike Wright
Yes. Yeah, sorry back up for the Texans. Hopefully you scour the news to and you heard that Foster was highly questionable and then was actually inactive and you were proactive and grabbed him.
Andy Holloway
Blue is available in almost every league right now.
Mike Wright
Okay.
Andy Holloway
He's only 3% owned. Well then so he is a must acquire running back.
Mike Wright
Why he's I think he is an average talent but the system. O'Brien likes one back. He's. He seems to be old school in that thought process. That which I if you have the guy who's the talent can do it. I agree with it because I think the, the. The positives are going one back are let them get in the game flow, let them see what's happening, let them adjust to what is happening and eventually.
Andy Holloway
They'Re gonna get into a rhythm.
Mike Wright
It's like if you watch. No, no, no no. This isn't a funny movie I was gonna say but. But Adrian Peterson, while he does do damage in the first half he. Whenever I'm watching it it tends to be the second half because the defense is worn down from just from trying to tackle him and him figuring things out. So that's where the one back benefit comes. If you have A guy who can hold up.
Andy Holloway
So Alfred Blue has a chance to step into Hootie. Who possibly a long, long term role.
Mike Wright
I would, I will venture this week.
Andy Holloway
With the chance of Foster re injuring himself.
Mike Wright
And Foster's hamstrings as we know are Stephen Jackson like.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, he's. He's getting the workload and it's, it's. What did they say today? That it's been a couple month of an issue for him? Yeah, well, he had kind of a career issue.
Mike Wright
I think he had it in training camp and I don't know. He gave the dude 50 plus carries in two weeks. For a guy who already has a bum, bum muscles and just. And he already has lots of mileage on those tires.
Andy Holloway
Right.
Mike Wright
So I.
Andy Holloway
So Alfred Blue somebody to pick up. I like that. Let's talk Ravens backfield for a second.
Mike Wright
Let's do it.
Andy Holloway
In case you were a Ray Rice former owner, a current Bernard Pierce owner, a current Justin Forset owner, a man that we start.
Mike Wright
We mentioned this man last week.
Andy Holloway
Big Z Lorenzo Tally Fierron. I don't even know how to pronounce.
Mike Wright
Taliaferro.
Andy Holloway
Taliaferro.
Mike Wright
Taliaferro.
Andy Holloway
Well, we've been talking about him. We've been wondering when his time is gonna come because that John Harbaugh led team does not like Bernard Pierce.
Mike Wright
They don't. And now he's hurt.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
And I think what we were. What I wanted to watch last week was if they got in a goal line. Did, did Lorenzo get a carry? Yeah, well, Bernard Pierce, he decided that he just wasn't going to play at all. So he gave him an opportunity and Lorenzo looked pretty good.
Andy Holloway
They were happy with his performance. I think he was 18 for 91 with a touchdown.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
And he.
Mike Wright
And he had a 34 set, a 30 plus yard run.
Andy Holloway
See, people last week were coming up to me going, oh my gosh, Justin Forset is just going to blow up this week. And I said no. I said no because Justin Forsett's a known commodity in the NFL.
Mike Wright
Right.
Andy Holloway
He's been around the block. He's a reliable change of pace running back. He is not a between the tackles runner and he has not ever proven he can do that. And so when a guy like this that you spend a draft pick on comes in and performs, I would not be surprised if Lorenzo maintains a fairly significant role the rest of the season. So go out.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I would absolutely grab him.
Andy Holloway
So what, what are you talking fab dollars with him? How confident are you with.
Mike Wright
I am depending on your situation. But probably 15% is what I would.
Andy Holloway
Of your fab budget that you have left.
Mike Wright
I would look at. Well, I'm saying 15% of 100, not necessarily what you have left. So. But about 50 if you have. If you started with a hundred, I would put about 15 bucks on because we're not sure that he's going to take the job. That's. Pierce could come in and screw everything up.
Andy Holloway
He's probably available in your league so he's worth a flyer especially at the running back position, which is a desperation position.
Mike Wright
But it was sounding today like the Pierce injury will at least be this week as well.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
So if Zo comes in and has another mediocre to strong game, I don't. There's no reason to look back.
Andy Holloway
So is he a start for you this week even though he's got Carolina.
Mike Wright
If Pierce is out?
Andy Holloway
Yes, he is. Okay. So there's some running backs I think some guys not too worry too much about is. Don't. Don't be the guy that runs to the waiver wire and signs Joe McKnight.
Mike Wright
No, no.
Andy Holloway
That's a enigmatic performance. A couple catches for touchdowns. Only got one carry.
Mike Wright
That was very coonian.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. John Kuhn got to qualify that one.
Mike Wright
By being too obscure.
Andy Holloway
No, but then. But then Jamal Charles will be back this week. Another guy. You know, we talked about Lacy already. If you need. If Starks is on the wire, you might want to handcuff your Lacy ownership with Starks so that you don't freak out too much. And then another guy just to keep your eye on. He's probably not available. But D'Angelo Williams is a pretty good start this week.
Mike Wright
Yes.
Andy Holloway
Because Mike Tolbert's hurt.
Mike Wright
They're all. And Tolbert.
Andy Holloway
Tolbert's on IR to return, so Stewart probably will be. And then they're not running 0. 0 runs for Cam Newton last week because of his ribs. So.
Mike Wright
And he's banged up even more now.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, the only. They do have Baltimore this week. But. But Williams is a viable RB2 this week. I think so. How about wide receivers? If you're hurting, who's the guy that you can go out and pick up? Well, is there anybody that you're really excited about?
Mike Wright
I think that. Well, I'm not sure how. What his ownership is because I think Jordan Matthews was drafted. He might have been dropped.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, he's actually. He's barely owned. He's almost 4%. Well then it's Jordan Matthews eight for 59 and two touchdowns, which was mostly Jordan. Yeah.
Mike Wright
Yeah, that was that one game. And I know Riley Cooper just. I haven't even heard his name at all this year. Who. Exactly. So if Jordan. It wouldn't take. I don't. Would not surprise me if in a few weeks Jordan Matthews has either taken his job or at least made the case that they need to go three wide and he's gonna get some. That's. That's a. They. They run a lot of plays, they score a lot of points. So I like Jordan Matthews. I man.
Andy Holloway
Now, now some of the other names of guys that have been pretty good so far are on by this week. So names like John Brown and Brian Quick are guys that you could snag but also aren't.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
You better have start for you this week.
Mike Wright
You better have a spot.
Andy Holloway
Right.
Mike Wright
Because they're not instantly impactful for you.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
So what are your thoughts on Allen Robinson?
Andy Holloway
Oh, probably Jaguars. Probably in line with the rest of my thoughts on Jacksonville in general. I do think that his. He gets a bump up. You know he started this past week. The staff likes him and Bortles is coming into play and Target monster. Yeah, yeah, they like him there. He was a 7 for 79 last week. We'll have to see the progress of, you know, short scored as well. And I, I'm just not too excited about that passing offense because I think you're going to get into a situation where Bortles might provide a little bit of a spark but at the same time he's a rookie and he's coming in into San Diego this next week. So. Yes, I don't think Alan Robinson is the guy that you necessarily need to stash right now.
Mike Wright
Now for me, I, I like target targets.
Andy Holloway
Right. For sure.
Mike Wright
And with Bo, I think Bortle just the Bortles show now he's in even though they didn't want to play him. Henny forced Bortles to come in and so I would not, I would not overlook Alan Robinson. I wouldn't go crazy.
Andy Holloway
And I just think you're going to see a rotation between him and Hearns and Shorts in relevance and leave when he. Yeah, I mean because Robinson had seven catches. Hearns, he didn't do much. He only scored a touchdown 63 yarder. But he scored a touchdown.
Mike Wright
It seems to be what he does.
Andy Holloway
So yeah, Jacksonville is a scary, scary place.
Mike Wright
I'm looking at and Toby, I think.
Andy Holloway
Out of those guys he's the guy.
Mike Wright
And Toby Gearhart owners the don't jump off the ledge just yet. I think Bortles is going to. Maybe not significantly, but he'll at least increase the value of Gerhardt.
Andy Holloway
Can we not talk about Jacksonville anymore?
Mike Wright
But they're the, they're terrible. They're good.
Andy Holloway
I don't want to talk about. Oh, wait. Because I predicted them to be good.
Mike Wright
Yeah, yeah. When you, when you put, when you put bets on the line that Jaguars are gonna be good.
Andy Holloway
You know, I just, I really believed in Gus Bradley and he has got, he's got nothing in that deck of cards. I mean, just nothing.
Mike Wright
So let's move on.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, let's move on. At the quarterback position.
Mike Wright
That was the doors opening.
Andy Holloway
Was that for Captain. Captain Kirk. Oh, are you giving him a new moniker?
Mike Wright
Oh, man, if I. Captain Kirk. If I had the Star Trek music or a phaser sound effect or. Oh, now I should have lived with that. Let's redo. Set phasers to stun.
Andy Holloway
Oh, my goodness.
Mike Wright
Captain Kirk.
Andy Holloway
Did you be more on his bandwagon? Well, when you've got a guy that throws for 427 yards with a pass, a pass. Heavy offense, pocket heavy, good wide receivers, he's probably gone. But if he's there, I think he's out there right now. I think most, most people, I would.
Mike Wright
Say even if you don't need a quarterback, someone's gonna want him.
Andy Holloway
Let me give you some. Let me give you some Kirk Cousins questions. All right. You ready for this?
Mike Wright
Ready.
Andy Holloway
We'll call this the Kirk Cousins around here. Kirk Cousins or Andy Dalton the rest of the year?
Mike Wright
Cousins.
Andy Holloway
Kirk Cousins or Russell Wilson the rest of the year?
Mike Wright
Ooh, Wilson. Cousins. Cousins.
Andy Holloway
What? All right. Kirk Cousins or Tom Brady the rest of the year?
Mike Wright
Oh, Cousins.
Andy Holloway
Kirk Cousins or Drew Brees the rest of the year.
Mike Wright
Brees.
Andy Holloway
All right, so there is a line. Captain Kirk cannot ride, has to perform a little bit longer. What about him? Or Romo if you're a Roma owner. Are you.
Mike Wright
You're a Romo owner. You. You are picking him up as some protection. I think Romo's gonna.
Andy Holloway
He's coming into form a little bit.
Mike Wright
But you. I would get protection.
Andy Holloway
Another. Another guy that's just performing pretty well fantasy wise again this year. 7th ranked fantasy quarterback is Philip Rivers.
Mike Wright
But he's not available.
Andy Holloway
No, he's not available. I was just saying. I'm just looking at this list of guys. I, I'd say Cousins, Cousins or Rivers. I got a little distracted. Okay.
Mike Wright
Okay. I would.
Andy Holloway
Rivers was a stud again this week.
Mike Wright
I still take Rivers.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Okay. All right. Well, at quarterback. Anybody else? Not really. Anybody worth starting in a 12 to 14 team league. No, a couple guys coming into, you know, Eli Manning had a better week and Mike Glennon's taking over that role with him. You have Bridgewater taking over. The rookies are coming into play now, right? Yeah, Bridgewater and Castle broke his foot.
Mike Wright
Or his ankle or something.
Andy Holloway
He's done probably to the joy of.
Mike Wright
I don't know. We'll see on Bridgewater. But yeah.
Andy Holloway
So cool. That's your waiver wire.
Mike Wright
Let's talk streamers real quick.
Andy Holloway
Oh, for defense.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
All right. So you need a defense to start this week. Who's your top four?
Mike Wright
The top four guys who I like that I think should be available. Number one is the Chargers. You have to play the Chargers.
Andy Holloway
If they're there with Jaguars, Jaguar offense.
Mike Wright
Then the other three, I like Dolphins, Lions and Bills.
Andy Holloway
All right, so there's some streamers for you if you need a defense to start. I. We could talk really quickly, philosophically on defenses. I have seen this happen more and more this year than I have other years. The teams that have one of the top five or six defenses in the league. Seattle. Right. Cincinnati, Carolina, San Francisco. These guys that are perennial good defenses. I've seen those teams in fantasy football get. Pay the price for not streaming defenses more than ever.
Mike Wright
Oh. With the. They think their defense is match well.
Andy Holloway
Or they don't want to drop them and so they play. Yeah. Match up proof. You play Seattle, you play Carol. I mean if you played Carolina's D this last week, you got negative eight. Now, I'm not saying that was a perfectly easy thing to see against Pittsburgh, but I have seen, I mean Seattle a couple weeks ago, negative three against San Diego. I just sometimes think that it's better to take a defense that's playing a poor offense if it's a middle of the road defense and stream it than it is to be stuck with. I mean, am I off here? Is completely disagree.
Mike Wright
I. I ride the stream. Yeah. I mean almost every single.
Andy Holloway
And what that takes is not being a lazy fantasy owner. Yeah. Means you have to sign guys every week you do. Well, if you want to win, you're gonna do that. If you don't want to win, you can play, you know, San Francisco's D and ignore the fact that they're a dumpster fire right now. So let's move on.
Mike Wright
Fantasy forecast.
Andy Holloway
All right, let's enter some answer. Ander.
Mike Wright
Ander.
Andy Holloway
Ander.
Mike Wright
Mr.
Andy Holloway
Acres. David Akers. No, let's answer some questions from the world of fantasy football.
Mike Wright
Just from around the world.
Andy Holloway
Let's Answer some questions that people have here. What's. What do you got there? Why don't we take turns answer.
Mike Wright
Okay, I will, I will. I will ask, would you trade Terence west for Wes Welker?
Andy Holloway
So I'm the Terrence west owner. Would I trade him for West Walker? Obviously that the first qualification there is what does my team look like? I guess I will take that and say I need a wide receiver if I'm being proposed that question. So, yes, I think Terrence West's value is on the way out in terms of startability. He's got a buy this week, as does West Walker. But Terrence west is going to be part of a committee in Cleveland starting in week five. Ben Tate's returning Crowell ran better than Terrence west this past week. And so if I was in that situation and I needed a wide receiver, yeah, I take a chance on West Welker and I'd pull the trigger on that trade and kind of cash in on the Terrence west value.
Mike Wright
I agree. I would move West. I think he's going into a three person timeshare and I don't know Wes Welker. As long as he doesn't get hit in the head, he's gonna have tremendous value.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Let me, let me ask you this question here. This is an interesting one because of the names involved. Would you drop Larry Fitzgerald, Drop to waiver wire for Brian quick. Would you make that change? Oh, Larry Fitzgerald had another very poor week.
Mike Wright
I would not.
Andy Holloway
Okay, if we're talking so you're not bailing.
Mike Wright
We're talking real strategy. No, there's no way I would drop him. I would try and package Larry.
Andy Holloway
Don't lose the name value of Larry Fitzgerald.
Mike Wright
He's. Someone will still trade for him if you're including something else with him. But if, if, if we're talking, these are the only options. Drop Larry to pick up quick. I'm still not doing it.
Andy Holloway
Okay. What else do we have?
Mike Wright
A. So a trade question.
Andy Holloway
A trade question.
Mike Wright
The. The up and comer who's been labeled as Gronkian by some Travis Kelsey and.
Andy Holloway
Tight end for the tight end for the Chiefs.
Mike Wright
So would you trade Kelsey and Mike Evans for Keenan Allen?
Andy Holloway
Would I trade Kelsey and Evans for Keenan Allen? Allen's off to a slow start.
Mike Wright
Yes. Which is why I think the only reason why this trade would. Could be looked at.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. If you're not starting Kelsey, this is a fine trade for me. I actually would be on board for that. I think this is probably a good time to buy Allen, he was one of my potential start of the weeks this week, actually, as San Diego faces Jacksonville at home. And Allen's had some tough matchups. He's gone up against the Seattle and Arizona defenses, which are stellar and stout and at a minimum don't give up a lot of points. So I think this is the week that Allen breaks out. And so, yeah, if you had these assets, I would definitely unload them for Keenan Allen.
Mike Wright
Now. I, I want Kelsey and Evans on my team.
Andy Holloway
I think, Kelsey, you would not do this.
Mike Wright
No, I would not. I think Kelsey is. I believe he's joking. I believe he's on the way up. His snaps are increasing. Andy Reid's, I think he's a smart guy. He's. He knows he has to get him in there. He's got to figure out a way to scheme and do it. And oddly enough, I think Mike Evans value is about to go up with Mike Glennon coming in.
Andy Holloway
It's possible, but I think, yeah, I mean that, that's an upside versus yous know, buy low opportunity.
Mike Wright
Right.
Andy Holloway
So, yeah, that's some good thoughts. Let me ask you this question. A lot of people are in this situation. They have a player called Adrian Peterson. Maybe you've heard of him?
Mike Wright
Yeah, I'm in there.
Andy Holloway
If you're in a league that doesn't have, you know, he's on suspended right now.
Mike Wright
Correct.
Andy Holloway
And so he's taken up a bench spot for a lot of, a lot of teams and those are valuable, especially as injuries come, as bye weeks come. Would you drop Adrian Peterson? And I mean, I know I'm asking you this. You have Adrian Peterson in a league or two.
Mike Wright
Our league is a little different because ours is a keeper league.
Andy Holloway
Right.
Mike Wright
If you're in a keeper league, you do not.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. If you're in a redraft league, which most people are, would you drop Adrian Peterson or would you hold out?
Mike Wright
If I am in a redraft league, let's say five, maybe six bench spots, I'm gonna hold him at least one more week. With all this, with the, the whispers in the wind of his legal team pushing for expedited trial, maybe he, maybe he takes a plea bargain and then he gets a. We don't know then what his suspension looks at is, is his suspension automatically six games. Are the two games that he's already missed taken into account and he gets a four game suspension. So I would still wait on Adrian Peterson. He's just too good.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, that's tough. I think it really just is gonna depend on the makeup of that person's team. If they're pretty desperate for that spot, I don't blame you for dropping him, but that's tough to do. That's just really hard.
Mike Wright
Let's say your team is. You're an above average team. You're two and one. Maybe you're three. Zero and someone drops Peterson. I'm picking him up.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, because you want.
Mike Wright
You can already. You can absorb a couple losses. And then if Peterson comes back, I mean, you're. You're looking at being a team that maybe you drafted lynch in the first or second round, whatever, whenever you got him. And you're looking at lynch and Adrian Peterson, or maybe you're demonic.
Andy Holloway
O'Murray, owner I know that they want him back. I just. From what I'm reading, he doesn't. I don't think he understands the legal process that's taking place. And he will receive punishment from the league, and I think that's the issue that's. Well, I in hand here.
Mike Wright
He. Let's say he. Somehow his legal team is able to force an expedited trial.
Andy Holloway
You're saying he's exonerated?
Mike Wright
Yeah, let's say that takes a month.
Andy Holloway
I mean, I still think he's. I still think he'll face punishment from the league, and I hate to say that because. But the league is not paying mind to due process in its entirety. It's going to pay mine to its image and to what takes place with his players. And. Yeah, it's possible, but. Yeah, yeah, that's. That's a tough question. I think. I think it really depends on your team.
Mike Wright
All right, let's go. Let's go. One more. One more trade question.
Andy Holloway
Okay.
Mike Wright
Drew Brees and Marquis. Colston 4. Captain Kirk and Jeremy Macklin.
Andy Holloway
Drew Brees and Marquis coast. And for Kirk Cousins and Jeremy Macklin, I do not come close to making that trade for the.
Mike Wright
You're keeping Breeze?
Andy Holloway
I'm keeping Breeze and Marcus Colson, even.
Mike Wright
Though Breeze has been very medium down the road. Quarterback?
Andy Holloway
Yes, absolutely. We've seen guys flash in the pan like Kirk Cousins is flashing right now, and we've seen it probably 20 times over the last three years, right. Where a guy comes out and, you know, if you ask me this question in four weeks and Kirk Cousins is the next Nick Foles instead of the next John Kitna, then maybe my answer is different, but.
Mike Wright
And you're getting Macklin over Colston.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, And I don't. I don't think that that gap is that big. So I think that that Colton we.
Mike Wright
Were talking about Colston. I put up zero points two weeks ago.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, he scored a touchdown this past week. And I still. I still hold on to the. The value piece of that trade is. Is Drew Breeze. I don't. I don't give them up yet. Not yet. Sorry.
Mike Wright
All right.
Andy Holloway
Not for Captain Kirk yet. Do we want to do any more?
Mike Wright
My phasers are set to kill. I've just upgraded, by the way.
Andy Holloway
I don't know.
Mike Wright
I don't know if I'm. I have.
Andy Holloway
Were you gonna try to do a Captain Kirk impression?
Mike Wright
No, I was trying to. I was trying to force myself to say I would make that trade, but I. I don't know if I can.
Andy Holloway
Your answer is no. I'm taking.
Mike Wright
I'm taking Breeze and Coulston.
Andy Holloway
Okay. Well, you sold it pretty good. You made me thinking I'm stupid for a second. I was like, I'm sticking to my guns here. So do we want to do a few more questions or how?
Mike Wright
I think we do. Let's.
Andy Holloway
We're getting towards the end. All right, let's. Let's move on to start of the week. All right. Hey, who's your start of the week?
Mike Wright
My start of the week Better not.
Andy Holloway
Be a guy I'm by is Andy Dalton. Oh, Beast.
Mike Wright
My start of the week is old Muscles from. Oh, he's not from Brussels.
Andy Holloway
Where's muscles?
Mike Wright
Colin Kaepernick, quarterback from the San Francisco 49ers.
Andy Holloway
Here's what Colin spelled out to me.
Mike Wright
This is what he did last week to a good Cardinal defense. He was 29 for 37. 245. Your 245 yards. Yards. He had a touchdown pass. And the good news, he started to run again. 13 for 54.
Andy Holloway
Now I see difference maker right there.
Mike Wright
So in that 54 yards, how many passing yards does that equate? Because that's five points. So 125.
Andy Holloway
That's 125 passing yards on top of first standard league, pretty much, right? Yes. On top of what he threw for.
Mike Wright
And they have. I think they've been embarrassed. They were upset with the officiating, and they have a great matchup at home after being embarrassed. They're playing Philadelphia, who clearly just gave it up to Captain Kirk last week. Philly is 26th in defense, allowing 386 yards a game and 26 points.
Andy Holloway
Colin Kaepernick, start of the week.
Mike Wright
I'm starting Colon. Kaepernick.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I'm having a hard time with my start of the week. I don't.
Mike Wright
I don't this is Andy's. Maybe I'm going to start of the week.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I'm actually going to. I'm gonna change my start of the week.
Mike Wright
Oh, yes. Mid show change.
Andy Holloway
Please do this. Let me say this. I was my start of the week was gonna be Eddie Lacy and that's bold because he's been. He's been the sit of the last three weeks. I made a joke this week that he is going to report to the team very soon and that he is still in camp because that's about the production he's given. So I do think Eddie Lacy is a really good start this week against the Bears. The packers have come out and said their run game has got to improve and I think they're going to feed the rock to him. But the question is, will he drop it? However, I'm going to make my start of the week a one Brandon Cooks.
Mike Wright
Ooh.
Andy Holloway
Because I like the way that this is shaping up for New Orleans. They're going to be indoors in Dallas primetime game. They need to get their offense together. And Dallas's defense, although it's been good so far this year, I think you saw in the first half of the St. Louis game, it is also vulnerable.
Mike Wright
We saw Austin Davis, third string, hanging it up.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. I would not be surprised to see double digit catches from Brandon Cooks this week as well as a touchdown from the shifty Brandon Cooks. So he is my start of the week.
Mike Wright
The PPR players who listen to our podcast probably just pooped a little bit when you heard.
Andy Holloway
They heard double out of excitement.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
See, it's confusing because poop is just a little. It's a bad thing for the players to do. It's a good thing for the owners to do. Is that what you're saying? If you own a guy and you poop a little bit, that's a good thing because that means you're excited.
Mike Wright
We're talking. We're talking poop volume.
Andy Holloway
Oh, so it's a bunch like Eddie Lacy. That's too much.
Mike Wright
Too much.
Andy Holloway
But if it's okay, this is too much. Something we're gonna have to really work out over the next few weeks on the show.
Mike Wright
Too much doo doo.
Andy Holloway
Too much doo doo. Yeah. So those are our starts. Colin Kaepernick and Brandon Cooks. Like it sounds good. So any concluding thoughts before we wrap it up here this week?
Mike Wright
Heading into week four, I got nothing.
Andy Holloway
Thursday night game, Giants and Redskins coming up.
Mike Wright
I'm actually excited for this. Why?
Andy Holloway
Because you have Captain Kirk?
Mike Wright
Because my phasers have set to Annihilation.
Andy Holloway
Oh, we're gonna have to add some sound effects just to satiate your Star Trek.
Mike Wright
Even if he sucks, I'm gonna start playing sound effects.
Andy Holloway
That's right. So, hey, if you enjoyed the show, write us a review on itunes.
