Foreign to the Fantasy Footballers Podcast with your hosts, Andy Holloway and Mike Wright.
B
Oh, yes. Oh, yes. The football week of last week is over. I don't. What week was that? Week six.
A
This week six.
B
It is October 14th. Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers Podcast. Your. Your regular co host, Andy Holloway is on a much deserved vacation with his family. So I searched and scoured the. The podcast waiver wire and unluckily, I was very low on the priority list. So we came up with my good friend Nicholas Vance.
A
Thank you. Thank you. Your fabid wasn't enough. You could have gotten so much better.
B
But Nick. Nick is in the league with Andy and I and he fills in occasionally when we do these podcasts and he gives his. His ideas and he's really here to.
A
To fill in the void.
B
Fill it. Fill the void and talk about how great I am and how much he agrees with everything I say.
A
You're the best.
B
So I'll start this. I'm a. I had an idea. And since Andy's here too, he can't say no. So we're locking this in.
A
Okay.
B
I came up with a new name for myself.
A
Let's hear it.
B
I'm Mike Wright. The Fantasy Hitman.
A
The Fantasy Hitman.
B
That's right. Because I. I looked around, you know, like, a lot of guys have some cool nicknames, right? It's not usually the coolest thing to nickname yourself, but I just did.
A
Yeah, I think that takes away all street cred from the set.
B
It doesn't matter. People will never know.
A
That's true. Fantasy.
B
Fantasy Hitman.
A
All right, so.
B
And yeah, like I said, Andy is not here to stop it. So how did your week go? How'd your fantasy week go?
A
It's been a lot like the way the whole year has been for me. Downward spiral of terrible bad choices, injuries. I have never had a year this bad. I'm currently one in four or one in five. Yeah, one and five. Always say week six, though. Yeah, one in five. It's not going great. We're, of course, in a keeper league. I'm not ready to sell the farm yet, but it's one miles away.
B
We are a keeper league and also a draft pick can be traded. It went well for me. I ended up winning. I got to do the. The magical. I was up four or five points with. I had San Francisco's defense going into Monday.
A
That's right.
B
And we've had some debacles in our league with people getting negative points, so I pulled them. I said I'm taking no chances of Course, I should have left them in and got all those delicious points that they put up. So let's move around to. Let's move to some news and notes, news and notes from around the league. Let's hit the injury report. The bloodbath continued this week.
A
It's brutal.
B
It was. It was pretty bad. Victor Cruz out for the season. Torn patellar tendon. Darren Sprouls, slight MCL tears. What? They're saying he might miss two weeks, and I'm not sure if that two weeks means his bye week, which is coming up, and then another week.
A
Right? I don't know.
B
They did not clarify.
A
I wouldn't be surprised to see him in after the buy, but I guess it depends on what.
B
He is a tough man, right?
A
Have they done an MRI on that yet?
B
Yeah, I think that's where we came up with the slight LCL tear. I'm not. I. But I'm not positive yet. Steven Ridley, he's gone acl. Eddie Royal left the game with a rib injury that we need to monitor that. Theo Riddick aggravated his hamstring, which. Detroit. I think Reggie Bush is scheduled to play this week, but if not, I mean. Joy Bell, load him up again.
A
Yeah.
B
Corduroyl Patterson claims he's not playing healthy, AKA I'm doing terrible because I'm hurt. I've heard. I've heard that before. I've used that before.
A
His hips don't lie, man.
B
Or do they? Fozzie Whitaker. Yeah. Injured his quad. Jonathan Stewart, I think is back. Marvin Jones puts on the IR that just kept getting worse and worse throughout the week. And now he's gone.
A
Yep.
B
Compounded by AJ Green's mysterious toe. Who AJ Green himself said, I don't think I'm playing this week. And then Coach Lewis. Oh, yeah, he might play. What does this really work? Like when coaches say, hey, you know, he's. He. He might play then. Because they want the other team to have to prepare, but.
A
Yeah, I mean, you're forcing somebody to prepare for a scenario that they would have prepared for, regardless.
B
Yeah. I don't know. I just think you sound stupid.
A
I agree. And it hurts us all in the fantasy world.
B
Yeah, it sure does. Marvin Lewis, think of the. Think of the fans, think of the children. Think of who pays your check. I mean, I guess technically the owner does, but.
A
Right.
B
We give money to the owner is annoying. And marino.
A
Yep. Another IR.
B
What happened? You know what, Mr. Dolphins fan?
A
Yeah. I'm a huge Miami Dolphins fan. Went almost the whole game, didn't he? Didn't look hurt. And I didn't think anything of it. Yeah, he's done for. For the year. Acl.
B
That was a big blow for me.
A
Yes.
B
And apparently he tore the ACL in. In on a play. He waved for Lamar Miller to come in and then waved him out.
A
Yeah.
B
And proceeded to play the next snap with. With the torn acl.
A
Yeah.
B
So no Sean Moreno. His man card has increased in size.
A
Yep.
B
That is.
A
That's a tough person.
B
A beastly thing. So what. What do we got next on our docket? Oh, let's move to some. Some stud muffins.
A
This week's fantasy stud muffins.
B
So this week you heard it here first, folks, on the fantasy footballers. Joe Flacco. My goodness. Joe Flacco. Five touchdowns in the first quarter.
A
Bonkers.
B
That is. That is some stunning analysis.
A
Yes. I was floored. I did not expect that to happen out of that game. I was completely stunned.
B
Because you did not buy into the fantasy footballers.
A
I did not.
B
You guys start of the week.
A
Yep.
B
And he went. So. He went nuts. Five touchdowns in the first quarter. I think he can actually continue this. So. Because what we do with the stud muffins is we try and think, could this player continue this? And I think Joe Flacco is gonna have a. He's set up for another decent week. I can't remember his gonna say, I.
A
Don'T have a schedule in front.
B
I have it in front. He's playing the Falcons.
A
Okay.
B
Gross. So. Yeah. And he. I believe it's at home. So Flacco could possibly have another game. It was very disappointing that they. Why would you not go?
A
For the record, I. I've never. I always would. I always would.
B
I don't get. I don't. It's you. You've got five touchdowns. You just have to get to seven to tie it. You got three quarters. Hey, I. I would. I would pour it on.
A
I mean, I get that there's a respect and not ring, you know, running up the score, but I.
B
To me. And I. I understand that the angle of that. But to me, go for. These are. These aren't. It's not college.
A
Right.
B
These are grown men who are being paid lots of money to do this.
A
True.
B
So maybe play some defense if you don't want people to embarrass you by throwing five touchdowns in the first quarter. Welcome. I wish I had the welcome back button. Cameron Newton, no joke.
A
Back at his prime or looking like his prime.
B
Vintage.
A
Yeah, Vintage Newton.
B
And as we. Or if you're in the fantasy community, you Know that vintage Newton, that's a top five quarterback.
A
Absolutely.
B
With his. The problem with him all year has been his ankle. He. He ran, I think over 10 times for over 100 yards and a score, which is what elevates him beyond other quarterbacks who can't do that.
A
Exactly.
B
Because you have the. You can throw for 50 yards and get two points or he can run for 50 yards and get five points.
A
Right.
B
Which he still throws and he runs. So I think he. I'm not completely convinced that he's back, but I'm.
A
I don't know how long of a run this is going to be. I would like to see him back completely like this next week and week after. But. Wow. Do you have his schedule?
B
Yeah. The Panthers are playing. Why don't I know this one? Panther. They're playing the Packers.
A
Okay. That. Yeah.
B
So it's a good matchup. And I. I think that he might be back also. Welcome back Thomas Brady. We buried him.
A
Yeah, I buried him.
B
And then.
A
I mean, as. I have to respect the guy, obviously as a Dolphins fan, I'm not gonna like the guy, but I didn't think that he was gonna come back.
B
And I don't know. Now that's two games in a row right. Where he is produced and Gronk is getting healthier. Although Gronk did have a little scare in the game, but he seemed just fine. I have. I still have a hard time buying completely back into Brady where. I mean, if he's on the waiver wire, you got to pick him up.
A
Right.
B
And. Yeah, man, I don't know. I think he's maybe back, but that they're a tricky offense and they lost Ridley, so.
A
That is true.
B
Maybe they're gonna throw. Brandon Oliver continued. He delivered on the waiver wire hype and he had over 100 yards of touchdown. Darren McFadden.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah. Run DMC.
A
My bench warmer. That was a good choice. Should I start Stephen Jackson? Yeah, I think I will.
B
Sperano. He said, I'm gonna run the ball. And they ran decent.
A
They did it.
B
It also helps when Derek Carr is throwing four touchdown.
A
That is chances.
B
But I. Darren McFadden. I don't know. He's. He's back. He. I don't think he really left my radar, but he was pretty low on the list. Yeah, but he is. He's increased.
A
I want to say he didn't have great week before the buy. I just can't remember the exact points, but the was.
B
MJD has been a complete letdown.
A
Right.
B
And it's McFadden's job. I, I think maybe he's on the rise because I, I like Derek Carr. I like what's happening for that team. I like Andre Holmes a lot.
A
Yeah.
B
But he. So move on. Muhammad Sanu.
A
Yeah, that guy.
B
Look, if you go back and look in Sanu's numbers, he has been a fantasy monster.
A
Yeah.
B
I think he has one dud this this year. And it all arrows pointing up for Sanu. No AJ Green this week. Unless you're Marvin Lewis and you think your guy with a torn ligament or whatever's in his toe. And so Sanu is. Hopefully you picked him up because he, I'm sure he's long gone. And then I, this is one's unfortunate for me because I just, I don't like him. And not like, not I don't like him as a person, but. Well, I don't like his stupid touchdown dance.
A
Yeah, I agree with that.
B
But the volcano finally erupted. Ty Hilton destroyed for 223 yards and a touchdown. And probably should have had another one, except he got swiped, he got grazed and I don't know, I just, I was not high on him. I'm still not, I'm still, I'm not.
A
Convinced that that's going to be a long term thing. A lot of targets still on the Colts. Oh, we'll see there.
B
It has been building for the past couple weeks.
A
Right.
B
But he wasn't home and.
A
Wait, no, that was in Houston.
B
That was in Houston. Yeah. He was in a dome.
A
That's.
B
That's more what I meant to say. Because Cy Hilton outside is useless.
A
It's true.
B
But in a dome he does produce. And at home especially, even though it wasn't at home. Whatever.
A
Right.
B
All right. Everyone's maybe favorite because I think the new segments. The favorite segment. But the.
A
This is my favorite.
B
Maybe it's your favorite segment. Let's talk about poop.
A
Pooped in his big boy pants. Pooped his big boy pants. Oh.
B
So first on the list, Shane Vereen. Ugh. Yeah. You got Ridley's out. You still can't produce.
A
No.
B
So I guess we can talk about the, the New England running backs at this time. So we got Shane Vereen. So the backups to take over for Ridley, you got Bolden and James White. Is that right? I think I say his name right. I'm staying away.
A
Yeah. I wouldn't buy into this.
B
If I have Vereen, I guess I'm still gonna hold him and hope that his value goes up.
A
But do you start him this week.
B
Man. After that poop. Who are they playing? The. Checking out the schedule. Okay. Oh, of course. Their Thursday night against the Jets.
A
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
B
So I think I am starting him just because of Thursday Night Massacre.
A
Yep. Is that in New England too, or.
B
Yeah, I think so. So the. And just another psa. Please give her a Thursday Night Football. Although last week turned. I'm so. They were so happy because it turned into a game, but that thing was a blowout forever. And then Fitzmagic did not have enough Fitzmagic.
A
Yeah, I mean, I like the football week to be spread out like this. I just don't like it to be every Thursday at this rate.
B
I mean, I just want the quality to improve.
A
Exactly. You're not only rushed on fantasy, but furthermore, every player is not as well prepared. We're seeing all these home team blowouts week after week, like you said, minus this last week, which still that turned out to be a great game. Luckily. I don't know. I'm torn.
B
Yeah. And that's just selfish of us for thinking of fantasy.
A
But I did.
B
I had a friend of mine who was asking me about some guys for Sunday and he was. Because he was asking about Floyd, who I ranted about. I loved Floyd this week, but we weren't sure at this time if Palmer or Stanton were going to play. And he had Hopkins. I was like, you have to put Hopkins in because we don't know right now if Floyd. Even though Floyd was my start of the week, I just. Because I thought Stanton was going to get cleared sooner. And it just. It was a mess. And he couldn't use him right. Because he was forced. His hand was forced to. To avoid that. Avoid Weapon X. Logan Thomas. Man, that guy's not ready.
A
Speaking of Hopkins also pants be pooped.
B
Oh, yes. Yeah. And then I felt really bad for telling my friend to play Hopkins. Oh, yeah. He did not produce. There was a lot of points scored and Hopkins didn't want. And Hopkins, did you. So did you analyze the last play where the Fitzpatrick fumbled?
A
No, not in its entirety.
B
Oh, my goodness. And DeAndre Hopkins is. He just freezes. The fumble could have been his, but he made a complete business decision of. I'm not getting in there. But if you go back and you watch the film, it looks like he could have gotten the ball, but he does this. I'm trying to get the fumble.
A
Oh, no. There it goes.
B
Yeah. And then Indy recovers. He's like, oh, drats. If only I had been closer. But the two defenders, I mean, they just like a cheeseburger on the ground. They're just diving at it. And Hopkins is like, no, he's vegan.
A
I don't know if that's true. It's not an insult either way.
B
No, it worked for the. Whatever the metaphor I was using. I put this one in because I think it needs to be talked about. This guy didn't play and pooped his pants. Terrence West. He has been surpassed by the Crow.
A
Yep.
B
I love Crowell. I've. I've talked about it many times. But it. It's official now. It's no longer speculation. Terrence west was big benched.
A
Yep.
B
For an undrafted rookie to start this year.
A
I was pretty high on Terrence west, too.
B
Yes, I was. Because we didn't really know about Crowell.
A
True.
B
Until that first game when he scored twice.
A
Yep.
B
So I think Terrence west is droppable.
A
Oh, absolutely.
B
I have no reason to keep him on a bench. Storm Johnson sucked. As expected.
A
Yep.
B
Big Ben. What do we do about Big Ben?
A
That is, It's a surprising week to week thing for me because he had.
B
Two great matchups in a row. Jaguars then Browns. And he sucked.
A
He had the game against Carolina before.
B
That too, where he was good.
A
Yeah.
B
But I'm saying he's had two great matchups and is not produced.
A
Oh, I see what you're saying.
B
And he did score. He's massive garbage yesterday. So it's somewhat saved his fantasy day and mine.
A
Right.
B
But I just, I. Big Ben is a. He is an enigma of. You think his matchups are good and then he doesn't produce his matchups bad. He has a great game.
A
Exactly.
B
So I don't know if I trust him very much. And then we'll talk about one more. Larry Danelle. That's another really bad game.
A
Yes.
B
For the, The Giants tight end. And although I believe he had a touchdown that was called back on a sketchy penalty. Yeah, but are you bailing on him? What do you think?
A
I'm a little indifferent on that one, to be honest.
B
Don't know yet.
A
Yeah, I, I, Yeah, I still need to see more. For sure. I haven't been completely on either, so it's okay. That's the level of indifference I have towards it.
B
I am, I'm for sure not dropping him yet. With Victor Cruz out, you would think that his targets have to increase unless ODB is going to pick him up. I love that. I didn't come up with that one, but I love it. Yeah, that's Beckham. Odb. That Is amazing.
A
Yep. I guess one more to talk about as far as the poop and pants. This isn't going to be a consistent thing out of him but Russell Wilson really struggled against, I mean in our league, 10 points or something like that. Yeah. This is one of his. I think this is the first home game of his where he did not put up multiple touchdowns.
B
That's very possible. I'm not sure on that.
A
I'm not 100% on that.
B
But that was a very surprising game.
A
Yeah.
B
Especially fantasy wise and Seattle. They apparently forgot that Marshawn lynch was on their team.
A
No joke.
B
Like we should keep throwing the boy. You know you have one, one of the best running backs in the league. Give him the ball.
A
Maybe he didn't want to be embarrassed in front of demarco Murray.
B
It's possible Murray's bones are going to explode in his body.
A
I fear for it because Dallas is going to rely on him heavily throughout the rest of the season and. And at some point I'm fear for an injury for him. I don't want it to happen but.
B
Yeah, we never want it to happen.
A
But you know, he's carrying the weight of that football team.
B
There's no way it can't happen.
A
Right.
B
Let's move to the waiver wire.
A
Put me in coach.
B
So we. Oh, I don't. Did. I didn't do this part where Andy and I are fantasy correspondents that we do write ups for fantasypros.com which is a fantastic resource for everybody out there to get information. All kinds of information really. Anything you're looking for in the week, they'll have it available and they weekly will put out their waiver wire. Top waiver wire targets. So we grabbed their target or their target list and we're going to go through some of these guys talk about if we actually like them, if we agree with them or not. And number one on the list is ODB. Odell Beckham Jr. And I probably agree.
A
Yeah.
B
With this as the number one.
A
It's number one.
B
It's a strange. Strange is the wrong word. It's a light waiver wire week. Especially after last week's humongous. Right. We had. Well. And we had three potentially huge targets.
A
True.
B
Odell Beckham, he should be a starter now. Cruz is gone for the year.
A
Pretty much any receiver right now for the Giants I feel has an equal shot to take over that number.
B
Right. I think Reuben Randle takes a bump as well. So maybe he's out there in your league. But the Crow number two Good girl. Oh, yes. He is one Ben Tate injury away from being a running back. 1.
A
Do you think Ben Tate gets hurt again?
B
Do I love Chipotle burritos.
A
You did have a. I did go bowl. You went bowl.
B
I was. I'm watching the carbs.
A
Oh.
B
I got, I got a football game tonight. So I want to be light.
A
Fair enough.
B
But the answer to that is yes.
A
Yeah.
B
And it. So a Ben Tate injury would not shock. It wouldn't shock Ben Tate.
A
No.
B
That's how much like I can't believe I got injured again. No. Ben Tate would go. Oh yeah, we were due. It's been a couple weeks since I got hurt. Brandon Bolden, we talked about him. Andre Holmes. I mentioned him.
A
Yeah.
B
I. Third year receiver Derek Carr is persevering in the midst of just an awful situation.
A
Yeah.
B
New coach. The Raiders is just a toilet.
A
Well, they've flat out said that Brown is not going to be a full time coach. Like he's the. This is it for him. So. Well, the very little motivation that that team has to.
B
Yeah. I don't. I don't get the mid season coach firing. I feel like it makes your franchise look even worse than you already are.
A
Right.
B
So where they were. They were neck and neck of. Who is the worst right now of Jacksonville and the Raiders. And then the Raiders did the coach move. So I just, I think far less of them that they. I feel like they have no idea what they're doing where the Jaguars or at least maybe they're building like. Oh, they haven't fired anything. Maybe they're building.
A
They haven't built in a long time.
B
It's like our road construction.
A
Yeah. It's any road in Scottsdale three years later.
B
Oh, there's they. They repaired the street lights.
A
They widened the crosswalk.
B
I like Andre Holmes.
A
I did too. I'm a little bit bigger right now on James Jones if he's available in any waiver wires which isn't likely but.
B
That is very fair.
A
He's getting more targets anyways at the time being.
B
And James, James Jones does have the pedigree.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah. But Andre Holmes has tons of talent. Third year. I totally buy into third year receivers. I think that's if they're gonna blow up, that's when they do it.
A
Right.
B
So also on the list, Devonte Adams. We talked about him last week. Cesar Schwartz had a pretty good week talking about the injury guys. So Cecil Schwartz is. He gets injured while he's taking a nap.
A
He does. I'm sure he just wakes Up.
B
Oh, my hamstring.
A
Should have stretched so hard.
B
Storm Johnson. The Jaguars just cannot run.
A
No.
B
Let's see if there's anyone else who I really. Brandon lefell, I think that is an interesting name. The Patriots wide out. He's had a couple of big games. Tom Brady, it looks like he is and this is not a surprising thing, but Tom Brady I believe. I believe he hears the media when the media is burying him and he says f you, I'm Tom Brady and he's. I'm going to throw four touchdown passes.
A
Yeah.
B
So it would not. It seems like lafail is growing into the top deep target. So he. He's probably worth a.
A
He's worth grabbing.
B
He's worth rostering. Absolutely. Anybody else from the in the whole list is available@fantasypros.com and I think that. I think that's. I. Oh, Jason Morrow, he had. He finally had a pretty decent game. The. The jets tight end.
A
Oh, that's right.
B
And I actually I think we are talking about him a little bit later. But let's hit our starts of the week.
A
Starts of the week.
B
So my starts of end. Our good friend Nicholas is going to be playing the role of Andrew Holloway today and he will. He has Andy's picks. So these are not endorsed by.
A
These are not my picks.
B
These are not endorsed by Nick.
A
I don't disagree with all of these but these are not my picks.
B
And if in case it isn't obvious our starts of the week we are trying to take guys who they're not obvious top five guys. Even though I used Julius Thomas kind of cheated there a little bit.
A
Right.
B
But we're trying to take guys who we think are on the outside and could be on the inside. It's so nice. All right. For me quarterback this week I got Carson Palmer, he's playing the Raiders and I'm actually I'm going with two.
A
Okay.
B
Derek Carr against the Cardinals. Now what's funny and I imagine this is for. For other people as well but we're. I'm an Arizona guy. I love the Cardinals. I watch every snap and our defense is based banged up despite what happened when Cousins imploded. We give up huge plays. That's so that's back to back weeks where we've had huge plays. Andre Holmes, it will not shock me if Andre Holmes gets a big one this week and we don't have a pass rush. The only way Arizona can rush the passer is by sending five or six guys and when that happens the court as long as the Quarterback is competent. He's going to find the open person. But it's funny seeing where I was watching NFL Network and they're talking, man, we like that Arizona defense. Like, did you guys watch the game? I don't think you did because they sucked for three quarters of the game.
A
They did come back to close it.
B
Yeah, they did. They did close it down. But I think that had a little more to do with Kirk Cousins and the in Washington.
A
Right.
B
Than it did the defense. But I'm playing either of those guys again. Play Derek Carr at your own risk because that is stepping out on the ledge, even for me.
A
Right.
B
But I have. I have a strange feeling that there's going to be some fantasy points scored in that matchup. Running back. I'm taking Pierre Thomas. Pierre Thomas against the Lions.
A
Yeah.
B
I don't think you can run on the Lions. The. They're going to have to rely on Drew Brees and they're going to have to check it down.
A
Yep.
B
So I'm looking for eight plus catches from Thomas this week.
A
Oh, yeah. And this would be big, especially if you're in a PPR league.
B
Oh, yeah, absolutely. And I think it's that way. Even the Ingram's coming back allegedly this week. I just. I think that. I don't know. I think Thomas is going to have a big game. My wide receiver. I'm taking Kelvin.
A
Yeah.
B
Kelvin Benjamin. He's playing against the Saints who I just talked about, I believe with. With, excuse me, Cam Newton coming back to his full strength. That just. That makes things so much better for his and much easier for his wide receivers. The only downside is Cam Newton. The only person that Cam Newton loves more than Kelvin Benjamin is Cam Newton. The. When he gets in the five, he loves to call his own number.
A
Oh, of course.
B
So he can do his Superman. I like when he does it. Yeah. And if I was him, I'll do it too.
A
But with. With his. With Cam Newton success last week, being able to run it, this is going to open up the passing game more anyways and Stevens is going to be forced to do a QB contain on him. So. So, I mean, there is the hope for that as well.
B
Yeah. And that's what I believe. And Benjamin's huge red zone end zone guy. I am going to my tight end. He's back. I'm taking Jordan Reed. As long as he is still healthy, he's another guy who gets hurt when he takes a nap. Yeah, they're playing. Washington's playing the Titans this week and we weren't sure. Because Niles Paul has been playing well. How much, how much action would Jordan Reed actually get now? He was eased in. He didn't play an incredible amount of snaps.
A
Right.
B
But he led the team in targets. Kirk Cousins is still the quarterback. What is this Colt McCoy nonsense? Are you kidding me?
A
Just make that mess here.
B
I understand that Cousins is not winning, right. But really, Colt McCoy, this is what this is. Your plan is ridiculous.
A
The Redskins, Cousins.
B
Cousins throws to his tight end a lot and Jordan Reed is a very talented pass catching tight end. So I'm taking him for defensive streamers. I like the, the mantra. Who are the Jaguars playing?
A
That's.
B
Yeah, it's going to work. Again, it's the Browns. The Browns are decent. They have a good, they have a decent defense. And I'm also going to take the Bills against the Vikings. So in your best Andy impersonation, give his, give his reads and, or his starts and I'll talk a little bit about him.
A
I should have worked better to make a better caricature voice of him, but I've got like zero. So I'm gonna choose for quarterback Kirk Cousins, who's playing against the Titans.
B
That sounds like Conan O'Brien's little boy.
A
Voice, like a lollipop.
B
But what's, what's funnier is that is a spot on impression of Andy.
A
I know. Is it weird? Like zero time or effort? So I don't disagree with the Kirk Cousins thing. The Titans minus week one, they haven't had a great secondary defense at all.
B
They stink.
A
They don't rush the passer enough or they can't get to him enough. Better to say. And the fact that it was as close as it was against Jacksonville. I think Kirk Cousins is going to have a great day against Titans. Yes.
B
I would completely agree with this pick for a streamer. Cousins, I mean, yeah, he's turning the ball over. He's also putting up huge fantasy numbers.
A
Yeah.
B
So fantasy people like, pay attention. Kirk Cousins is. Yeah, he is scoring a lot of points.
A
Well, he reminds me of Romo of last year.
B
Yeah.
A
You're still putting up points. You're still throwing like two to three interceptions, but you're still putting up points.
B
And those interceptions suck because you're like, man, I could have had six more points.
A
Right.
B
But he's, he's still putting up great numbers. Who's your, who's your running back, Andy?
A
My running back would be Fred Jackson versus the Minnesota Vikings. This one I, I don't necessarily disagree with at all. It's Vikings Line. That's basically it. Like you're gonna be able to get through it.
B
The Vikings is. They are a mess right now. Their, their defense is actually not. It's not terrible. But the, their offense is not been doing very well.
A
Well, that. And you can see almost every game at the point where the defense is just realizing we're not playing for anything. Right.
B
And what I'm saying, where the offense is so bad that it puts the defense in a terrible position.
A
Exactly.
B
And Fred Jackson, he's the man in Buffalo.
A
Yeah.
B
He's. I think in our league format, he's even a top 10 running back. He's the third down guy. He scores the touchdowns. And so I think that's a, That's a good safe pick.
A
I agree.
B
Who do you got?
A
A Buffalo fan. But it's.
B
Yeah.
A
Oh yeah. I would absolutely agree with it.
B
I'm a. Minnesota is my second team. Right. I mean they have hurt me, hurt me deep.
A
So for my wide receiver, I choose Marquise Colston playing against the Lions. And this one I actually totally agree on. I'm huge on Colston this week. I'm starting in myself, so I like.
B
Colston this week as well. And you got. Jimmy Graham is not going to play.
A
No.
B
He's out with his mystery shoulder injury. And the, The Lions are a good.
A
Defense, but they're actually particularly good against the pass too.
B
Yeah, there's. I don't know. I. But that's one of those. I think the gut calls where you just. You feel like that the target, the Jimmy Graham targets have to go somewhere.
A
Right.
B
And I don't think the Brandon Cooks trickery is going to work against the Lions. The bubble screens, short quick passes. I just, I don't, I don't think that's gonna work. I think the, the dumps to Thomas and then hitting Colston for a mid range right in the mid range is going to be the, the bread and butter for the Saints this week.
A
That's pretty much my exact thoughts. And that's why I'm flying on Colston for Andy's tight end. He picks Jay Samaro. Pat, our Patriots playing against the Patriots.
B
He just. You ruined it because you said he, you're.
A
Oh, yeah, that's right. That's supposed to be Andy's voice. Whoops.
B
It was a mirage. Your cover is blown.
A
Andy is not here. That was a lie to you guys.
B
Now Jason Maro, this. He's going on. He is flying on this one, by the way. Let's just take a couple seconds. Andy, I did Pretty well. Andy crushed it.
A
Yeah.
B
On his starts of the week he had Flacco, Tory Smith. Who did he have as running back? Joy Bell.
A
Oh yeah.
B
And his D. I think his D was good. We both missed on tight end. But Owen. How does. How do the Ravens throw five touchdowns and Owen Daniels gets nothing. That's beside the point. But so dap dap of the hat. Dippity dap to Andy who crushed it. So I will believe him. On Jason Morrow against the Patriots, the Jets have Eric Decker.
A
True.
B
And that's it. But there's so I. Maybe. Maybe he scores the.
A
I mean this isn't even. As a Dolphins fan. I just don't tend to trust jets players at all.
B
That is understandable there.
A
I mean there's. It depends on what your waivers look like. There's a handful of other tight ends that I would go with because essentially it's going to be touchdown or bust for most of them anyway.
B
Right. That's. That's a usual tight end thing.
A
Yeah.
B
But Amaro is talented and I agree. It's possible that last week was kind of the. The. If you believe in the breakout win and then they just keep surging afterwards. Very possible.
A
That'll be soon.
B
And now I'm sorry that you have to make this next read.
A
For my defense, I will pick the Chicago Bears versus the Miami Dolphins. This one I can't even necessarily disagree with either.
B
No.
A
Sean Marino is done for. I'm actually. I had debated putting in the Bears defense against the Dolphins for this one. I can't. I won't. But that is the worst.
B
When you have to do that, it's bad.
A
Here you are Sunday. Exciting to watch every snap from your favorite team and at the same time you're rooting.
B
Yeah. Then they throw a pick six and you're like yay. No.
A
Yay.
B
No. And then you rip your face off.
A
Right, Exactly. And I have to go real life fan before I'm fantasy fan. Bears are not a bad choice at all. It's going to be up to Tannehill to actually pass the ball from here on out. Miller is going to probably average maybe 4 or 5 yards of carry then.
B
That's not bad though.
A
No, it's not bad. But that what'll happen is they'll. Dolphins will end up behind and have to pass it for pretty much the rest though.
B
Yeah, maybe. I think Miller's actually a good play this week. The Bears are not the best rushing.
A
Defense, so I don't remember where they rank on that. But yep, that's Andy's picks.
B
All right, let's take on the world.
A
The fantasy footballers versus the world.
B
All right, so the. The way this game is played, this is essentially a start. And sit where we. We'll debate, we'll test our knowledge and then we will. Between two players, do you want player A or player B? And then we will look at the consensus on fantasyprose.com and see where the experts aligned their opinion and what I do. I don't know the answers to any of these questions. I don't know who the experts have chosen.
A
I'm glad I did not know the rules to this game. I would have totally.
B
You would have cheated.
A
Just scoured everyone.
B
Let's say. I'm so smart.
A
That's not in the spirit.
B
And what I do is I try and get real life, real questions that people could be dealing with and that are close. So let's. Let's start the game. So first we have ODB, Odell Beckham Jr. Vs. James Jones. Now Beckham is playing the Cowboys and James Jones is playing the Cardinals.
A
That's right.
B
Who would you start?
A
I'm a little bit higher on James Jones right now. Don't have a great reason to that.
B
No, that's fair. That's fair. The Cowboys have been hot and I've explained what I believe of the Cardinals defense.
A
Right.
B
So I'm gonna go. I'm gonna lean James Jones on this one. So let's pull it up. The experts have spoken. 64% take ODB.
A
Oh, well, I mean, not even close.
B
Yeah, it's somewhat close. But the. There. When you. A nice thing of fantasy prose is then they tell you which experts pick.
A
Who and where they're from, where they write for.
B
And as you play the game, you're going to find some experts who you tend to agree with. You think you like their opinions. Kind of like me and me, the fantasy hitman. The best opinions in the business. But the. I will. I will say in our defense, the guys, the experts on the James Jones side, those are guys that I like.
A
Okay.
B
Not that I dislike the other guys, but these are guys that I really like. So I'm calling that a. I'm taking a victory. So the experts have taken odb. Next on the list we got Pierre Garcon or Sammy Watkins. Garcon against the Titans, Watkins against the Vikings.
A
Yeah.
B
See, I try and make them tough.
A
Yeah, no, this one's a tough one.
B
And Garcon was much of a no show last week.
A
That's very.
B
He got the garbage. Not Garbage. But he got the late touchdown.
A
Right. I'm gonna go with Garcon over the Titans, mostly because of their secondary.
B
And I will go with Sammy Watkins and the police officer who throws him the ball. Have you seen these pictures of Orton lately?
A
You nailed it. I didn't even think about that.
B
It is amazing. So I think if you look like a police officer, then you get a couple police officer from the seventies. Oh, the experts agree with you. 64%. Pierre Garcon.
A
Okay.
B
So Sammy Watkins. 36%. Man, these. That was much closer in the. In last week's. But these are still not terrible.
A
Yeah.
B
At least I haven't hit the 70% where it's just ridiculous. So the experts agree. They would play Pierre Garcon. All right, move to number three. Okay. I did it again, which is really funny. This one is Kelvin Benjamin versus the packers or Ty Hilton against the Bengals. And Kelvin Benjamin made my starts of the week. I did this last week with Floyd. And there must be some subconscious things going on. So I'm going Kelvin Benjamin.
A
Okay. I'm going to agree on Kelvin Benjamin. I think the Ty Hilton thing is kind of a fluke.
B
All right, let's pull it up. Dun dun. The Experts have spoken. 61%. Kelvin Benjamin.
A
Okay.
B
So the experts lean with us there. I see some names that I like that are on the Ty Hilton bandwagon. It's. It's just so hard for me to get behind Ty with his. He is generally boom bust guy.
A
Yeah.
B
And a very combustible one.
A
And I had the fortunateness of playing against.
B
Yeah, you did. The old Thursday explosion.
A
Yep.
B
Oh, which. Talk about ruining your weekend on Thursday.
A
Yeah. Great. I'm gonna lose fantasy this week. The rest of it hasn't even happened.
B
All right, this is now because we're assuming he plays.
A
Right.
B
Ronnie Hillman against the Niners, Reggie Bush against the Saints. This one's. Now that I look at, this one probably is not as close as I initially thought, but we'll find out.
A
Now, I don't want to get this wrong, but I think I'm going to go with Reggie Bush against going Bush.
B
I'm going to go Hillman. And what I now actually think is going to be a landslide. Nope, not. It's much closer than I thought. 61% Hillman.
A
Okay.
B
So not bad. Hillman might be a good time that we should mention this. Hillman was the guy.
A
Yeah.
B
The. We weren't sure who it was going to be because they had the three backs. And you never know with the Broncos. But Hillman got. He got the lion's share the carries and surprisingly enough, Thompson was the backup. Thompson, C.J. anderson, I think got one snap.
A
Yeah.
B
And so don't worry about C.J. anderson. I might gamble on putting Thompson on my roster because who knows how long Hillman will stay in favor.
A
It's true. And if you have the spot, it's worth it. I'm also right. Like this matchup, like 49ers D lines, nothing to gawk at by any means. They can stop a run. I don't know where they rank at that right now. I don't have that stat right in front of me. But yeah, I can. I can definitely see Hillman having a good day. And he's definitely the back to have from Denver.
B
From Denver. All right, last one of taking fantasy footballers versus the world. Larry Fitzgerald versus the Raiders or Keenan Allen versus the Chiefs. Larry Fitzgerald had, I think his best game of the year last week.
A
That is, he looked.
B
He looked good. Keenan Allen has been bad. Yeah, he is not. And what's so crazy about Keenan Allen's disappearance is Philip Rivers is dominating.
A
Yeah, he's one of the best quarterbacks in the league right now.
B
He is just dominating. And I think maybe some of what's going on is he's just finding whoever he. Maybe his vision is working on all cylinders right now where he's finding the open guy, making the correct pass instead of force feeding. He's not going Stafford with Calvin Johnson right of where Calvin Johnson's the first, second, third and fourth read. Rivers is actually going through his progressions and maybe Keenan Allen's not getting open. I don't necessarily know what's going on. He. Allen, he was pretty touchdown dependent last year.
A
Right.
B
He still had some good yardage games, but. So back to the game. Larry Fitzgerald, Keenan Allen, who do you got?
A
I'm gonna go with Fitzgerald. I think that game, Arizona versus Oakland is going to be a shootout.
B
I agree. I'm going to take Larry Fitzgerald because I want to. No, I think he's the better pick. Yeah, this one is. This is the closest one of all. Larry Fitzgerald, 54%. Ooh, got a good one in there. So 54% to 46% right now. I don't know if these change throughout the week. I doubt it.
A
I mean, Fitzgerald hasn't had a great season.
B
No, he is not.
A
It's. I mean, after last week and even showed some positive signs from the week before, I think that it could be on it. Yeah.
B
Part of Fitzgerald problem is much like Michael Floyd is the quarterback.
A
Right.
B
Injuries and carousels that's been going on, which is. It's nice to have the quarterback carousel at least be carried by injuries. Unlike the Wizard Hunt years, where it was. Where Skelton.
A
Yeah. Revolving door.
B
No Max hall of thinking. You can turn any guy off the street. Like, I think week. Week seven or something. They called up into the stands, and they said, hey, fan in seat seven, row 42, you're up. And then he got to take some snips, so. All right, let's hit.
A
Probably had a better future than Max.
B
Oh, Max Hall. Yeah, Max. Max Hall's not doing so well right now. You can look that up if you.
A
Want, but who knew you could fall so hard from, like, the second step of a ladder?
B
Oh, Max.
A
That was uncalled for, but M. Max Hall.
B
All right, let's. Let's go to the mailbags. We got a couple questions.
A
Mailbag.
B
We got questions from our. Our 25 listeners.
A
Nice.
B
But they keep sending them in, so we got to answer them. First up, our buddy Keith. He says he's asking a trade question. Do I? True. I like this one even more now that I'm looking of interest. Do we trade Eddie Lacy and Mohammed Sanu for Jamal Charles? Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Yeah. So here's what we will break down. Sanu is on fire.
A
Yeah.
B
He's the guy now for Andy Dalton. Andy Dalton has. Has been a. He is a monogamous quarterback.
A
That's very true.
B
He finds. He finds his bromance on the field, and he sticks with it.
A
Anu can end up at least second or third ring for first or third.
B
And for all the. For all the hype and excitement following one game of Eddie Lacy being back.
A
Right.
B
And now he. The other Eddie Lacy's back.
A
Yeah, maybe.
B
And lots of James Stark snaps. So would you trade that pair for Jamal Charles, who is. His season has actually been a bit up and down as well.
A
Yes. I think it is a completely fair trade, but with AJ Green out, I think you have to keep Sanu for the time being. And Lacey's a serviceable back. Yeah, that's what I would stick with.
B
Yeah.
A
The value of Charles is there.
B
If you have other receivers who you are okay with, then I'm gonna make the trade. Yeah, but it's funny that Mohammed Sanu is the tipping point for this. A guy you grabbed off of waivers. You're like, I'm not trading that guy.
A
Yeah, but. So I. I mean, I guess here is your chance to get the value for him. Because that's a.
B
That's also a very good point.
A
Right. Right now. You could sell him high and that.
B
This is a. This is difficult because the. I always like to have the best player in the trade, and that's Jamal Charles.
A
Yeah.
B
But I think I might ride out Lacy and Sanu, just see how it goes. All right. Next email. That was not a very good transition.
A
Next email.
B
Our friend Christian says for the rest of. Who's better rest of season. Oh, Andy is not here. Andy would love this question. Rest of season, Ben Tate or Andre Ellington? Both. Who were. These were darlings.
A
Yeah.
B
Fantasy darlings at the start of the season for Andy.
A
Yep.
B
So who do you. Who are you taking the rest of the season?
A
I mean, I went as far as drafting Terrence west, so, I mean, not until far late.
B
I guess that. Yeah.
A
Ben Tate's gonna get hurt again. I'm going with Andre Ellington.
B
Ben Tate has looked. He's looked good. He. It was a bit of a slow start against Pittsburgh. The Crow was actually outperforming him. But then Ben take out the goal line carries. Ellington has had this foot thing which we're not hearing anymore about the foot. And he seems okay. I'm going to take Ellington.
A
Yeah.
B
I'm going to take Ellington for the rest of the season.
A
I think it's a combination of Crow and injury.
B
It's the. It's close, but yeah, it's the. The Ben Tate injury wheel that you spin every single week. All right, next email. Our friend and loyal listener, Randall. Man, these. These are good questions.
A
These are.
B
Should I trade Jeremy hill for Jerick McKinnon now? Jerick McKinnon we haven't really talked much about. We probably should have talked about him earlier. It seemed like.
A
What is all that rattle they're redoing the A.C.
B
Jerick McKinnon. The. Yeah. We're not sure if it's permanent.
A
Right.
B
But last week the guard changed. Matt. Matt Slowman, Plotter Asiata got usurped by Jerick McKinnon. McKinnon got the. The bulk of the carries. And Jeremy Hill is. He's actually had. He said, fine standalone value in our league format. He's averaging 10 points a week.
A
Yeah.
B
Which for a lower end running back, that's fine. Maybe a flex play.
A
Yeah.
B
However, Geo, he hurt his shoulder. It looked pretty bad. He came back in the game, so we think he's okay. We haven't heard anything else, but if Gio Bernard goes down to me, Jeremy Hill is an instant running back. One.
A
Absolutely. So Running back two minimum.
B
So if you. If you have the. If you have Geo on your team, there's no way you make this trade. But let's say you do not. You used to have Jeremy Hill. Are you going to tell. Are you going to hold on to him with that lottery ticket or are you going to pick up the. The other scratcher of Jericho?
A
Yeah, I mean both of these are gambles. I actually really like Jeremy Hill. I think that right now it would be worth getting Jerick just with Jeremy not with Jeremy Hill not starting. I think right now you have the chance to get more out of Jerk.
B
Yeah. If you don't have Geo. If you have Geo, you're not trading Jeremy Hill.
A
But hold on to your handcuff if you.
B
If you do not. I think I'm going to take the chance on McKinnon turning into something.
A
Right.
B
I think it's not that we weren't sure of this but the. But Peterson is. He's not playing this year and then watch he's going to.
A
We're all like this Justin breaking.
B
We're all. Peterson is done. And then for the fantasy playoffs, whoever held on to him, it just gets an automatic win. But I'm going with Jerick McKinnon. And our last email of the day from Anthony is a trade question. Would you trade Matt Ryan, Fred Jackson and the aforementioned Jerick McKinnon? So it's a three bagger. Matt Ryan, Fred Jackson, Jerick McKinnon four Big Ben and Lashawn McCoy.
A
I think that's another quarterback. Maybe Big Ben to me should be like waiver fuel. Like just somebody to get.
B
He's off your quarterback one list.
A
Yeah, exactly. I don't have. I mean you, you know this personally from our conversations. I'm not huge into quarterbacks because once you go out of the top eight, six even like the point differential is not huge. It's a week to week thing. So I would personally hold on to Matt Ryan, fred Jackson and McKinnon. Shady McCoy or I mean, yeah, Shane McCoy's wonderful but there's more value you can get in there.
B
Now. This is surprisingly close for me. Matt Ryan. I have, I have growing concerns for Matt Ryan in Atlanta. The O line is in shambles. He seems to only be good at home, which is 50% of your game.
A
Right? That is a good point.
B
Oh man. I really like Fred Jackson as an RB2 McKinnon.
A
This might be worth just getting Sean McCoy.
B
That's what I'm saying here. The, the downgrade from Matt Ryan to.
A
Big Ben is completely tolerable in my opinion.
B
Yeah. I don't. At the beginning of the year, it seemed unfathomable. Right. But I think now it might not be too bad. And you can also find streamers.
A
Right.
B
And yeah, I'm taking Big Ben and Shady.
A
Yeah, I think I'm changing my. So I can. So I can plug.
B
I can plug Shady in. I got that RB1 super stud who seems to be back.
A
Yeah, maybe.
B
I don't know, but Sprols is out.
A
Yeah.
B
Also, yeah, I'm taking Lashawn McCoy.
A
You, you, I flip flop. I'm going to the Shady side.
B
There's nothing wrong with being on the Shady side.
A
No, not at all. And yeah, with Big Ben, take him, run with him is your choice. There's other quarterbacks available as well, right?
B
Yes. I'm almost throwing him out of the trade, not even really worrying about him. All right, that'll wrap up your first edition of the Fantasy Footballers. How did it feel?
A
Felt pretty good.

Trade Eddie Lacy and Mohammed Sanu for Jamal Charles?
Ben Tate vs. Andre Ellington for the Rest of the Season?
Trade Jeremy Hill for Jerick McKinnon?
