To the Fantasy Footballers Podcast with your hosts, Andy Holloway and Mike Wright. Oh, welcome.
A
What's going on?
B
The Fantasy Footballers podcast. It is November 4, 2014. I am Mike the Fantasy Hitman.
A
Right.
B
I. I kept forgetting to call myself that.
A
Yeah, that's not how nicknames work.
B
Well, no one's gonna call me it if I don't start using it myself.
A
You're supposed to tell me to call you that. Hey, this is Mike the Fantasy Hitman, right?
B
Yeah, and my co host is Andrew Holloway.
A
Oh man, I thought you were gonna drop me a sweet nickname.
B
Andrew lost this hairy Holloway haircut.
A
Haircut. Did you get a haircut? No, that's not gonna work. Every week I did. I actually got a haircut and the barber cut my ear with a straight razor.
B
What?
A
And I didn't notice it had a bush league. I got home and I had this drip of blood down my ear and I'm like, I paid to have a man cut.
B
That is a nightmare zone.
A
Yeah, you know, you go in there, it's supposed to be a fancy haircut with a straight razor and they cut you to bits. So you're gonna cut to bits. Man, my fantasy. My whole mood is different when I lose in our. I understand youh know, you win if you're out there. You're probably like us where you've got an important league. Now we're in a couple different leagues, but there's one that we just, you know, care a lot about. And I lost this week and I thought I was going to win and.
B
Why, why did you lose?
A
Because of Big Ben Rothenberg. Oh my God.
B
You and many other people.
A
Big Fantasy Ben showed up to play again. Six touchdowns, two weeks in a row.
B
Yeah, that's. That's an NFL record. 12 touchdowns in two games.
A
Those are games that you see like once a career, not twice.
B
Those are games you see when you're. You're playing Madden on Xbox.
A
Right, right. But anyways, yeah, that, that was a crazy game. But you ready to get into it?
B
Yeah, just one, One quick little. Want to toot my horn here. I got. We've, we've been writing for fantasypros.com doing fantasy correspondent work, but I got called up to the big leagues this week and I have a featured article on there where I.
A
Check it out.
B
Yeah, check it out. Or I go over some Week 10 waiver fill ins for this week and there's going to be one about defensive streaming as well. Hopefully that'll be up.
A
So yeah, check it out on fantasy pros.com. we should, we should tell you where you can find us too.
B
Oh yes, you can find local the.

B
Yeah, let's get into it.
A
All right.
B
News and notes from around the league. Yeah, let's start with some, some injuries, not too bad this, this week. What we got, I think the big one, the big one was Nick Foles, quarterback of the Eagles. Fractured or broken collarbone. I can't remember exactly how they put it, but it looks like he will be out for the year and possibly the playoffs if the Eagles were to make it. Say Mark Sanchez will be taking over for Nick Foles.
A
Yes. Arian Foster, another big one. Yeah. Fantasy monster this year when healthy he went out with an injury but the report is that he, they have a bye week. Houston has a bye week this week. So the report is that he's not going to miss time after that. But it certainly is disconcerting for a guy that's had muscle and hamstring issues.
B
It was a groin, this was the.
A
Groin, groin injury, hamstring.
B
And when, when he, when it happened it was a non contact and he was very visibly upset because he knew he hurt himself and he slammed his helmet down and I personally am not buying that. He's guaranteed to be back after the bye week.
A
So make arrangements. If you need Alfred Blue, go grab him.
B
Which we will talk about him coming up. Lamar Miller, running back for the Dolphins. He left the game with an AC joint. They're saying he's going to try and play next week, which I heard that.
A
This morning as well would be, that's.
B
That would be a feat for a running back.
A
He did practice today. He did some things in practice today.
B
So I think that's going to be a difficult injury for, for a running back to play with, but sounds like he's going to give it a go.
A
All right. Philip Rivers mercifully hurt his hand.
B
Yeah. Did he. Was that his hand or his ego that game?
A
I have a, we have a really close friend who's a die hard Charger fan and halfway through this game I just sent him a text and I said, hey, I'm not trying to rub it in, but what in the world is happening to the Chargers? How is this happening. And bad to worse, they did come out and they said Philip Rivers was not pulled from the game because of his hand. It probably had something to do with the 37 to nothing score.
B
And even. Even better for that, the. The die hard Charger fan was. Was playing me in fantasy this week and he had Philip Rivers hurts.
A
You did it.
B
Nope. And let's see Ronnie Hillman. We'll just bust out the last two. Ronnie Hillman tweaked his ankle in the Patriots Bronco game, but he went back in and was a beast. And Wes Welker left with a back injury after he got. He took a pretty good shot.
A
They're saying he's day to day with a chance of maybe missing this upcoming week and coming back in week 11. So you're probably not counting on Welker at this point.
B
You hopefully weren't counting. I was unfortunately counting on him.
A
It's so sad because you see the writing on the wall.
B
Yeah.
A
His career is coming to an end. So one other big piece of news out there you go. That sounded so realistic. Yeah. One big piece of news is the Adrian Peterson news coming down today that he's reached a plea agreement that will essentially end the legal components of his case. So it'll be up to the NFL to decide if there's going to be further plea agreement and punishment.
B
Very important to note, not that we are legal experts of any. Any means, but what he pleaded guilty to, I believe was a reckless assault or something of that kind. But the. There is nothing about misdemeanor.
A
Reckless misdemeanor.
B
Yeah. So there's nothing about hitting a minor, nothing about a domestic that means it didn't happen. Well, I'm not saying that, but I know.
A
I think for the implications of the punishment from the NFL, you say they.
B
Can'T say, well, you did this, even though your court case was resolved, that you were guilty for this. I think that's a fuzzy line that they're going to have to figure out. Hopefully. We didn't really. We haven't really talked about Peterson lately.
A
But we were at least eight weeks.
B
Yeah. So. And the standard domestic suspension is six games. Not that he's not technically suspended. He's still getting paid. So it's hard to know what the league is gonna do, and it's hard to know what the Vikings are gonna do. But what we had talked about on this podcast was I thought the worst thing that could happen for Jerick McKinnon and Matt Aziata is the Vikings to win, because I think if they win the Vikings, it's. It's a weird business decision, but you almost have to bring him back because he improves your team. And the NFL four and five.
A
Right now, the NFL one two in.
B
A row, business of winning. And I think the Lions and the packers are. They tied with six wins. Am I right?
A
I got distracted by the NFL power rankings.
B
Oh, that happened again. The Cardinals.
A
I just had to go see where our Cardinals were, so that's not fair, man. How do we stay at number two when.
B
Because the Patriots beat the Broncos.
A
If we would have beaten the Cowboys with Romo, we would have moved up.
B
That's.
A
All right. That's totally distracting.
B
But anyway, so I believe that. I think Green Bay and. And the Lions are both tied with six wins apiece.
A
I'll verify now that I'm distracted.
B
So that would put the Vikings two games.
A
It's actually Detroit six and two, Green base, five and three.
B
Okay, so, I mean, they're only two games out.
A
Yep.
B
So they're still in the division race.
A
They are currently the ninth seed in the playoff standing. So. Yes. Well within striking distance. Green Bay is just on the outside.
B
So if. If Peterson gets cleared by the NFL, I feel like the Vikings have to put him back in.
A
It's very possible.
B
So maybe it. Oh. So we'll get to talking about him, I guess, for. And when we talk about adding players.
A
Sure.
B
He's probably dropped, but let's. Let's talk about some good stuff. This week's fantasy stud muffins.
A
Quite a few muffins. Yeah. You want to start us off, studly? Sure.
B
I snuck him on the list just because he's been gone for a while.
A
Yeah, there was a Marshawn lynch sighting. If you don't know who Marshawn lynch is, he's the running back for the Seattle Seahawks.
B
You might not have known from the last couple of weeks, but, yeah, a.
A
Couple touchdowns for old lynch back to normal.
B
That was the. This was the game we had talked about where if he had failed against Oakland, I was jumping off the bridge.
A
But luckily, you're here to step back. Still casting with us.
B
And we're gonna. We're gonna keep riding Lynch. Matt Haziat is back on the list.
A
He's a three touch. If he scores a touchdown, he scores.
B
Three is disgusting. 10 for 26 with three touchdowns.
A
And poor McKinnon. Jerick McKinnon still has no touchdowns as an NFL running back, which is. You mix that with this Peterson news, and you got to be worried about McKinnon moving forward.
B
I do not see Ozieda duplicating this moving forward. So I'm not looking for him to repeat his muffiny ways.
A
There you go. Mark Ingram, he had a what I thought was good, not great night. He was a.
B
It's a great fantasy.
A
It's a Great fantasy night. 30 carries for 100 yards and two touchdowns. The Saints were unabashedly committed to the run.
B
They were.
A
And he was the only guy who could do it. It wasn't going to be Travis Cadet and Pierre Thomas and Kyrie Robinson are out. So Ingram put, you know, for. For. Yeah, that was a good game. It was a really good game. So two touchdowns, 30 carries. What do we think moving forward?
B
I. Because they've.
A
They've come out and they've said it's likely to go back to. They're not going to give them 30 every week.
B
However, from what I'm hearing the Pierre Thomas and Robinson aren't likely to play again next week. So if, if it's still Ingram and. And Cadet, you got to roll the Ingram show out there.
A
And he does look different. He looks like a different running back heading into free agency.
B
So he's sprightly. My man. I wish I. Man, I wish I had some trumpet fanfare for this one. Jeremy Hill, who was been one of.
A
My guys, he's one of your dudes.
B
I touted him before drafts and I drafted him in every single one of my teams. I, I have Jeremy Hill. He went out with a monster performance against Jacksonville. 24 carries for 154 yards and two touchdowns and he had a catch for nine yards. Now people will say, oh, it was Jacksonville. Jacksonville's defense has been playing pretty well, especially against the run. So for Hill to come out and dominate this way, including a 60 yard touchdown run where he put the Okie Doke on the safety and made him look like a fool and then carried him into the end zone. It. The. The Bengals look good with their, with their running game. They got a little bit back on track. Gio has been out. Geo is reportedly out again for Thursday's game against.
A
Keep rolling, Jeremy.
B
So you throw Hill out there. He is a. He is the reason why you handcuff when you. When you have talent like that behind the starter.
A
Absolutely. Denard Robinson, move to your guy. Denard Robinson. Yeah. You know what happens? 3. Third time is a charm. He's come out and He's. He's put three consecutive solid performances together. 17 for 94 and a touchdown, a couple catches for 10 yards. He's the guy. Yeah, he's the guy in Jacksonville and he keeps producing at a very high clip in terms of yards per carry.
B
The I will admit, defeat you did not believe on Denard Robinson, which I.
A
Don'T blame you, but he's performed so far.
B
The one caveat then.
A
This is miniature.
B
This is a very miniature small aside. Toby Gerhardt actually looked like Toby Gerhardt.
A
Probably because Toby Gerhardt belongs in a backup role. Maybe that's how he looks like Toby Gerhardt.
B
And Toby Gerhardt also had that really bad injury week one and he thought he could play through it. But we know that running backs can't play through ankle injuries. Maybe he's healed up now that he set out the last couple weeks. But I'm not jumping back on the Toby Gearhart bandwagon. I just wanted people to know he still exists. Yeah, he exists and he looks healthier, but it's still Denard Robinson. There'd be no reason to change back at this point. Julian Edelman, he showed up again.
A
Yeah, he's. You know, it's hard to count on a specific receiver in New England.
B
Yeah, especially Edelman. He is. He had all but disappeared for a couple weeks. If you have him as a. I would say a wide receiver. 3. There's no doubt I'm still plan throwing him in there.
A
Yeah. It was nice to see him involved again. Nine for 89 and a touchdown. And then he had. He had a punt return touch. Yes. So he had one of each.
B
Yeah. But if he's my two, that's sketchy @ best. Alan Hearns showed up again since. For the first time, I think since week two with another monster game. I still prefer Robinson in that. Allen Robinson. Yes. Thank you.
A
Mike Evans came out seven for 124 and two touchdowns on 11 targets. He looked the part. You're seeing a lot of these rookie wide receivers actually come into their own a little bit. You saw last night, Odell Beckham Jr.
B
He looked pretty good.
A
He looked like the best receiver on that team. Mike Evans had his biggest game now. Vincent Jackson wasn't ignored. He had 12 targets. But the touchdowns went to Evans in this one. And actually the passing offense was somewhat proficient.
B
So what. How do you feel about Evans knowing that they're talking about going Back to Josh McCown? Does that change how you feel about him?
A
No, because how I feel about him is not. I'm not gung ho just because of this performance.
B
Right.
A
I think he is a. He's as relevant as that passing game is, which is Blows with the wind a little bit. Sometimes Glenn can throw, sometimes he can't.
B
He had a great game before he got hurt. I can't remember what his injury was, but he was. I think he missed. Wait, did he even miss the game?
A
I don't think he missed the game, but he.
B
You could tell he was hurt. He was still hampered from it, so. Evans is actually a guy I. That I'm starting to like more and more.
A
And if you have the opportunity to kind of, you know, you're seeing the same thing with Sammy Watkins, too, right? Where these, you know, first six, seven games, these guys are not.
B
They're not up to speed.
A
They're just becoming acclimated with the system. And so when they get the trust of the offensive coordinator, more plays called their way, those type of things, you know, I don't. I like Evans this week against Atlanta, regardless of who's starting if. Yeah, you know, and he doesn't have. I mean, he's got the Redskins and the Bears as the next two games, so. Yeah, take a flyer on him. I'm not going to crown him as a wide receiver. Two locked in the rest of the year, but he's on his way.
B
You know, the locker room headache.
A
That's ironic.
B
Yeah. See, that's. See what I did there?
A
Percy Harvin, he's the locker room migraine.
B
11 for 129. And with a quarterback of Michael Vick, who actually looked like a competent quarterback. So what do we do with Percy Harvin?
A
You play him okay. As a wide receiver. Three. I mean, he. Obviously, they want to get him in the mix. I don't know what he did on the ground. Did he get carries in this game? I think he at least got one. I'm gonna check on that. But that. That's the other nice thing about him is he gets involved in some gimmicky plays.
B
Yeah, he does do that.
A
And they're gonna use him. I mean, they need to use their toy and he's a toy. So I thought. I think he's a wide receiver three right now. And you wait and see what they do with that running back.
B
You had to expect them to use him. Why would you trade for a guy and not use him?
A
Yeah, I thought his upside was going to be better. I mean, I said it. He's going to be better in New York than it was in Seattle, just based on the proficiency and the offense.
B
Quantity instead of quality for him.
A
It reminds me of how they used him in Minnesota, to be honest. Yeah, that's Fair. I mean, he was the first. He was in third read for about a whole year.
B
So, yeah, he was a great fantasy player in Minnesota.
A
Charles Clay, tight end for three golf tight end rundowns. You want to take care of those?
B
Yeah. Five for 65 and one. He almost had a second one. I like Charles Clay. I like this resurgence because the I've. I'm on that Tannehill bandwagon. I've been driving that for a few weeks now. And he looks. He looked fantastic. This week is tough because they have the Lions, but. And it's on the road, so. But there's a lot of teams by. It's BI NATO 3 by Apocalypse Week or for the third time. So Clay, you could do worse. I would say for a bye week, fill in than Charles Clay. Is this Michael or Mikal?
A
I don't even know this Michael Rivera.
B
Michael. I know Rivera, but. So he scored twice on Seattle.
A
He's actually been targeted a lot the last two weeks by car. So he's somebody who. He's not an athletic. Athletically gifted tight end. He actually reminds me of Brandon Myers as far as his usefulness in Oakland, but they're targeting him. So again, another guy you could do worse with. I like Rivera more than I do guys like Amaro, so. And then Chase Ford for Minnesota.
B
Yeah.
A
I'm gonna say Tennessee. The tight end for Minnesota had five for 66 and a touchdown.
B
Although the only reason I put him on the list was Kyle Rudolph.
A
Yeah. He's coming back there.
B
Minnesota's on by this week. The following week is rudolph's target for return 11. And Ford has actually had two good weeks back to back. He didn't score the last week. But if this is a. Yeah. If you're tight usage.
A
Yeah.
B
Of tight ending and you're.
A
It is with. Yeah.
B
And if your. Your tight end is. Say he's not the strongest. This. This is the week to pick up Rudolph. You have to do it now because you're not going to get him next week. And you can get him probably super cheap this week.
A
Week. Yeah. If you. Bridgewater Bridge. Bridgewater's gonna lean all over him.
B
Yep. So let's. Let's talk about. Pooped in his big boy pants. That was me frowning.
A
Yeah. Some. Some negatives on the week. Let me come out right away and say I. You know, I. I don't like to admit defeat, but, man, I swung and missed with Cam Newton this week. Oh, he just had an awful game. Really. I mean, if you watched.
B
He looked bad.
A
Good. He Looked disconnected, he looked inaccurate. And you know what's funny is two weeks ago he had one of the most accurate games of his career and it was all over the map and you know he ran the ball a little bit and scored.
B
Yeah.
A
But if he is going to throw for 150 yards in the air to these hodgepodge and you know he had Jericho Khatri a poster out wide open for a touchdown. He back footed the throw. Not disciplined, not making the throws you want to see from a quarterback. And so Cam Newton had a really bad week.
B
The now the reason I did not like Cam Newton going into the week was I knew his offensive line was in big trouble. They had an undrafted rookie starting at left tackle and I think I believe it was four, four starters or are out for that for that line in that week. And that's just. We've seen it with Matt Ryan. No matter how good you are as a quarterback, if you're off, if your line can't protect you for a three step drop, you're just, you won't have success.
A
Absolutely. Yeah. And so moving forward because what we like to do with this section is to look at these guys that struggled this week and say hey do we expect that trend to continue? Do you need to make an adjustment to your lineup? What do we think about them on the way out? And so for Cam Newton I think you have to put him in the. I'm encouraged by the amount of rushing yards he has but you have to put him in the can't trust category for quarterbacks.
B
Absolutely. He's, he's not a guy who I'm starting until I feel more some confidence in that line. Philip Rivers who we talked about, who he. I don't know about.
A
Just an enigma.
B
It is to me it's an enigma. It's the west coast had to go to the east for an early game. The Dolphins have a fantastic defense. All those things combined and I don't know about your scoring format but in ours Philip Rivers the quarterback finished with negative points.
A
Not good. Chris Ivory came out and laid an egg 8 for 22 more carries went to Chris Johnson this week.
B
Now the more production. The savvy owner has looked at Chris Ivory's last couple weeks and saw the.
A
Fool'S gold there that touchdown dependent.
B
Yeah his, his attempts and yards while were more. I think they were closer to maybe 12 for 40 or so but he was getting touchdowns. So you take those touchdowns out of those games and his, his fantasy numbers look really similar to they did this week.
A
Yes I want you to wave goodbye to this next guy.
B
Yeah, he was, he was my running back start of the week. I thought, I thought he was going to be able to finish it off.
A
Sign time to say farewell to a one, a slow Brandon Oliver. 13 for 19.
B
Goodbye.
A
Goodbye, my friend. Goodbye, my love. Yeah. If you've watched Brandon Oliver, it's pretty obvious that he is a capable but not elite running back talent. And you have Ryan Matthews and Donald Brown back in the mix and Brandon Oliver's fantasy relevance is gone. So I don't know if I drop him, but probably.
B
I probably would. I believe San Diego's on by this week and people forget how good Ryan Matthews was, especially last year. I mean, he got hurt really, really early in this year where people don't like Ryan Matthews because he's not typically in on third downs. But when. If you're talking about a guy who's one of those first, second down guys, he is. He's got to be at the top of the list.
A
For me, the big thing for Ryan Matthews, to me, is that entire offense is predicated on actually having an efficient running game. When they lost Matthews and they lost Woodhead, they got the one boost from Oliver.
B
Against Oakland, he had two good games. He crushed the jets too, in the.
A
Second half of that game.
B
Yeah, I think maybe he did it.
A
In the air, though. Well, my point is he got. They got a couple of good running games, but that offense has struggled without efficient use. So they use. Ryan Matthews is the point. So let's just skip this next guy. No, Ben Tate has had your boy.
B
Your boy.
A
Yeah, he's killing me. He's killing me. If you were a Ben Tate owner this week, you wanted to shoot yourself.
B
Because you got to read that line, man.
A
Yeah. Ken carries for three yards.
B
Now I'm.
A
Are you a math whiz?
B
Well, I'll say I'm not a very large. I'm an average sized male and I think you put me in pads and you give me 10 attempts, I'm gonna get you more than three yards.
A
I don't know. Alex Mack is gone and man, does Binte look bad. He actually almost salvaged his fantasy day. He had 4 for 29 through the air. If so, if you're in a half bad, half ppr, PPR league, then he had a goal line carry that seemed like he was gonna, you know, break the double digit barrier and he just lost three yards.
B
And not to mention. So let's talk about his future. Terrence west, who was a healthy scratch a couple Weeks ago was the. He was the back in the second half of the game, and he scored through the air. And here's the problem with the Browns. We'll talk about West. I don't mind taking a gamble on it, but if you look, you're going to be able to find polar opposite news on every single guy in that backfield. You'll find.
A
What I just realized.
B
What's.
A
That is their offensive coordinator is Kyle Shanahan, who may have been. May have kind of inherited the trait that his father is known for in fantasy football, which is.
B
That is fair.
A
Which, I mean, if you knew. Mike Shanahan was always known for. For taking a running back from nowhere, turning fantasy relevant and just as quickly putting him on the bench. And now you have three capable running backs in Cleveland, but you don't have a good idea of who's going to get the bulk of the carries. Before last week, coach Mike Petton came out and said, we got to get Isaiah Carell. Mark Harry's more involved. How many carries did he have?
B
I think he had a goose egg.
A
Zero.
B
Yeah.
A
So who knows?
B
It's a clown show.
A
It is.
B
And I always want. I always want to root for Cleveland. Yeah.
A
It's that, like, puppy with three legs thing.
B
Yeah. They have a winning record. They have a big game. Big division game with Cincinnati this week.
A
How do you see that shaking out? Is Josh Gordon back yet? No. Yeah, not soon enough.
B
I don't know. I actually think that I'm interested in that game, which is strange.
A
Is it in Cleveland?
B
That one? I cannot tell you. I can double check. It's in Cincinnati.
A
Yeah. I don't think they're gonna win that one.
B
All right, so moving on.
A
Fly through a few.
B
Yeah. Smith has had three poor fantasy games in a row.
A
You talked about that on the podcast last week. That. Yeah, he's kind of market correcting.
B
Yeah. And I don't see it. He'll probably. He probably has maybe one or two big games left, but I don't see him producing like he did at the beginning of the year when people were thinking they had a steal of the draft. Kelvin Benjamin had a terrible game because Cam Newton had a terrible game. But Benjamin also dropped a touchdown.
A
He was targeted a ton, too.
B
Yeah. He dropped a touchdown for the second week in a row.
A
I think he's still safe as a wide receiver, too.
B
Terrence Williams, that's. He's just getting market Correction. He had two for 19, Mike.
A
He also has no Tony Romo.
B
Yeah. Mike Wallace, the. His 3 for 50. Which I think is a little surprising considering the beat down that the Dolphins put on.
A
He's been. He's another guy that's been like, he's the ivory of the wide receivers. He has had to touch them every week, and it's about time he didn't get one.
B
Andre Johnson was 2 for 12. And these Texans are maddening me that that's not the John Men. That's as in driving me crazy because I have a friend and he asked me every week, which Texan do I play? And I get it wrong every week.
A
Between Johnson and Hopkins.
B
Yeah. Because he's in a ppr.
A
So I thought, oh, Hopkins had a great game.
B
Hopkins had a huge game. And last time I told him to play Hopkins, that's when Andre Johnson had his huge game. And I don't know, I was. I thought I was.
A
You don't know what you're doing. You shouldn't run a podcast.
B
Hey, that's just two guys having a good time. Antonio Gates had a terrible game because Philip Rivers had a terrible, terrible game. And Greg Olson had a terrible game because Cam Newton had a terrible game. And that's two in a row for Greg Olson.
A
Worried.
B
I'm starting to be concerned.
A
All right.
B
About Olson.
A
He also doesn't have the pedigree of being a consistent every week.
B
That's what concerns me. Yeah, I will say, and maybe it could be a bias because I want him to do well because I own him. But my eyes, at least when watching the game felt like he was the most reliable receiver in that game. He had, I think, four targets. And the fourth, the. The one he didn't catch, was not catchable. It just. His hands look great, but he also did have to block a lot because the line was so bad.
A
Yeah. So that's a tough situation.
B
It's like Jason Whitten where he's just. He's blocking, so he's not getting any kind of production. So let's. Let's talk about some. Talk about some new guys. Let me in, coach. Oh, let's talk about the waiver wire.
A
So let's do it.
B
As we mentioned, we are correspondence for fantasy Pros Calm, which is a fantastic fantasy tool on the Internets where you can get. You can get all kinds of information. They have rankings there, and what they do is they take experts from all over the fantasy football world. They average them out, they get consensus picks. So you're not just relying on one source. They have start sit questions. I mean, they have really. It's a one stop Shop, let's say that it's a one stop shop and every week they put out, they take I think four experts and they ask them about the waiver wire and then the. They kind of average out what these people think for waiver pickups. So we grab that list and sitting on top of the list is Alfred Blue.
A
I guess I'm not surprised because of the opportunity that could be coming his way. But we've seen the Alfred Blue show. It's been okay. It reminds me of the Brandon Oliver show, which was okay, had a good run, had a. I don't know. I wouldn't call the Brandon Oliver experience experiment a success.
B
That's fair.
A
He probably won some people, some games that first game. But yes, if you are the Foster owner and Blue is out there first off, what do you make an effort? Yeah. What are you doing? You know, you've met Arian Foster before, right? So Alfred Blue is at the top of the list. You also have, if we're just talking running backs in the waiver relevance. Charles Sims is the guy we talked about last week. Probably not enough. He's a guy that I think you know and I can stand alone on this if I need to, but let.
B
Me hear what you have to say.
A
In my opinion, Charles Sims is one of those guys that could be the fantasy difference maker for playoffs. He's a guy who's been on waivers. He's a guy that the coaching staff loves and he's a pass catching running back as well. And I just think he has the opportunity to come in and make a monster impact. Not necessarily this week. This week should be his first week that he's active, but I'm talking about two, three weeks out. Weeks 14, 15, 16. I think Charles Simms is a guy you have to, you might be starting now.
B
For me, I would. I've been a big make it Rainey.
A
Sure guy all year. They like him.
B
And what's hard for me to, to sift through is every time Rainey gets the opportunity he produces, you know, he did in the Atlanta game. He had two fumbles where Lovey Smith did his best. Bill Belichick. Yeah, I'm gonna banish you because you fumbled the ball once, which I think the first banishing related, it worked into the second one he got in his head, which is why you don't bench these guys for making one mistake. And so it's, I think, I think they're moving past Doug Martin. They've seen that he is, is not the guy who we thought he was And I think it's difficult when you. They have to weigh winning games versus do they find out what they have in the guy that they.
A
They don't need. They need to play. Charles Sims.
B
Yeah. You still have to win games. He's on his first year of a good contract, but you still have to win or the. The boss. Your. The guy who writes your checks gets mad at you.
A
Yeah.
B
So I don't know exact. I would still pick him up. Absolutely. But I. I think Bobby Rainey's the guy.
A
He is. He is the guy. Right now. Martin is a. I think in a firm third right now. Yeah, I would agree with that. Just. Just where he is on the depth chart. Let me actually, I'm gonna read through some of these names and then let's just pick out a couple and talk about them. But the consensus list here for fantasy process. Alfred Blue at number one. Terrence west, like we said, he had a productive game for Cleveland at number two. And Alan Robinson.
B
Love him.
A
Wide receiver.
B
I love Alan Robinson.
A
Alan Robinson's the guy that's like. It's like chasing points. Every time you sign him, he has a bad game. Every time he's on the waiver bar, he has a good one.
B
Charles Sims, he gets targets, man.
A
They actually have Isaiah Crowell for whatever reason up top. For me, I'd stay away because you have no idea. Yeah. Jarvis Landry for Miami had a good game. Jordan Matthews for Philadelphia had a good game. Daniel Thomas is up the list. This is more so.
B
I think he got hurt.
A
This got pushed because. Well, not him, but Miller. Yeah, Miller got hurt. So Daniel Thomas is on that list. Kenny Britt, 92% of snaps. I don't mind him. Haziata, get him off the list. A reaction to the three touchdown week. And then you had Damian Williams, Kenny Stills, Owen Daniels, Greg Jennings, Charles Clay and a few other guys. You know, there's some missing names on this.
B
I like. Yeah. There. Which we'll get to those.
A
Bryant is not on this list.
B
Really? Maybe his ownership is too high.
A
Yeah, perhaps.
B
I think they. I think they go 40%. Yahoo.
A
Is their threshold ownership percentage. Yes, 40%.
B
I kind of like the. Taking a flyer on Greg Jennings. The. I know he's on his bio. I just.
A
Based on the Patterson frustration or what.
B
Yeah. And I just. Jennings is. He's good man. He's a good wide receiver. And as Bridgewater gets more and more comfortable, they're going to get Rudolph back. Which teams will have to pay attention. McKinnon has been coming in lately. There could be a special someone who might return to the Vikings. Oh, we already talked about.
A
Yeah.
B
So Adrian Peterson could be back. And this just in.
A
He truly regrets the incident.
B
Yeah. And this just in. I think it's fine. Is $4,000. Well, that's not our job. We're not in charge of that.
A
It's just fun sometimes.
B
And so I, I kind of like Greg Jennings more than those. If Bryant was on this list, I would talk about him again, which I did last week. But I like him. I like Jennings. Then two names that we found highly suspicious that were missing from this were Mark Sanchez and Adrian Peterson.
A
Peterson was absent certainly because he's probably owned in any non redraft. If you're in a redraft league and.
B
He'S sitting there, I guarantee he's on the wire for almost every redraft league.
A
Yeah, that's what I mean. In redraft leagues he is. If he's in a dynasty league, something like that, he's still taken. But yeah, you can grab Peterson on the off chance he plays. Sanchez is coming into an offense in which you know, he's Mark Sanchez, but up to this point he's produced in an offenses made to produce. Foles has been having a really bad.
B
Year and still having.
A
And still having a fantasy relevant year. So yeah, those are two guys missing. I mentioned Martavius Bryant who produced again, like you said, his ownership percentage might be up, but I still think he's available in quite a few leagues. I know he's available in one of ours. The other name, the only other name on the list I'll just mention briefly is Kenny Brett. He did score this week and he's getting. He's essentially their one.
B
He has to be now.
A
So depending on matchups, if it's a game, you think St. Louis is throwing the ball a lot. He is a spot start worthy guy there.
B
I was gonna say try. I was trying to find something else to say, but I've ran out of things to say. So let's. Let's move it on.
A
All right. Let's move it on down the road.
B
Starts of the week. Wow.
A
You like how I delayed that while I found the button?
B
That was the. Let me figure out.
A
Click the button. I wasn't ready. My wife was texting me about what time our football game was tonight, so.
B
That's right.
A
Is that relevant to our podcast list?
B
Not only are we fantasy football expert analysts, we are flag football people.
A
We are players is the word.
B
We are grown men who play flag football.
A
Hey now it's competitive and all right.
B
Starts of the week now with this, if you are a new listener. We're trying to find guys who have.
A
A lower ownership, lower star percentage.
B
Yes. So. And they're not high up in the rankings. They're not obvious. And then we talk about. These are guys who might help you out this week. So at quarterback we just talked about. I'm taking Mark Sanchez.
A
He is fumble the.
B
But the butt fumble.
A
Butt fumble.
B
He's playing the Panthers who are they ranked 26th against the quarterback for fantasy. In six of nine games they've allowed multiple touchdowns to the quarterback. Their defense is not good. We've talked about the. We just talked about Eagles are a high powered offense now. I am not completely on the Mark Sanchez bandwagon. I don't think he's all of a sudden going to be magically great. But the Chip Kelly system seems so friendly to a quarterback that it's hard to not take the chance that on Sanchez especially versus the Panthers.
A
I'm going to go with Derek Carr this week.
B
Yes.
A
Derek Carr.
B
Yes.
A
He does not have what would be a good matchup defensively. You know, Denver is a good defense but what you see with games like this is Denver is actually giving up the 20. I guess this would be the third most fantasy points to quarterbacks because of a lot of garbage time teams playing. Denver have to hurl the ball around and Derek Carr is a hurler. He likes to sling it around the field. So I like Derek Carr as a, you know, emergency.
B
Oh, a low level stream.
A
Sure.
B
Now is it just me? I don't know how much of the Seattle games you watched. Does it look like Derek Carr's wearing eyeliner?
A
Always does.
B
Does he?
A
It always looks that way. I don't know why. I completely agree.
B
Does he just have the world's thickest eyelashes?
A
I don't know. Like he looks like he is doing Halloween all year long.
B
When I got a close up I was like, what is going on?
A
The raccoon.
B
Running back now his, his ownership percentage is probably higher and this is what. What is going on?
A
Like looking at pictures of him and I can't be sure if he's. He looks like he's wearing eyeliner.
B
Yeah.
A
I'm talking like college, like final senior photo looking picture. He looks like he's wearing eyeliner. What's going on? Like a family. Did we discover something?
B
Yes. It's breaking news. Look up David Carr. Does he have it too?
A
I am, I'm looking.
B
Okay. So my running back.
A
This is more important than anything we've been doing so far.
B
Like I said, he's probably owned but Jeremy Hill, because I felt I was allowed to do this because he's been my guy for the entire year and he just exploded all over the Jaguars and he takes on the Browns, who are 22nd versus running backs. And I have a little note here that says I love Jeremy Hill.
A
I. I'm gonna not let you get too high on your horse here, Captain. Gio Bernard's injured. I mean that.
B
Well, that's why he's in. That's why he is fighting week. Because Geo.
A
Well, that's good. I'm just saying the I loved Hill part, you know, I love fortune since the beginning. And he's getting an opportunity now that Gio's gone to perform. I'm gonna go with Ronnie Hillman this week. Oakland is pretty awful against the run. There should be piles of opportunities for Hillman to eat again. So if you got Ronnie Hillman, don't be afraid to put him back out there. Even when Monte Ball comes back. I think Ronnie Hillman's a guy that's going to have a role.
B
Yeah, that's a good question. The Monte Ball should be back sometime soon. I don't think it's this week. But do you think so you think Hillman holds that job?
A
I do. I think Hillman holds the job in a. You might see something somewhat reminiscent to Bradshaw Richardson right now. Okay, I could see that. I think Hillman has shown speed to the edge in a way that has dramatically affected that offense. And it's something that, you know, he's run hard and he scored. He scored. And Monte Ball is not special. I've been saying, if as much as you love Hill, I hate Monte Ball.
B
That's true. I can vouch for that. So would maybe even. We're looking at last year's Denver, but instead of Moreno, it's Hillman. So maybe the Hillman.
A
I think. Exactly.
B
Hillman ball split. Ball split.
A
I think Ball will get the goal line carries. But you saw Juwan Thompson do that a couple weeks ago. And in that offense, it's not. It's not impactful enough to Ronnie Hillman to make him irrelevant. It's. It'll make you frustrated that he's not getting it all. But I would expect Hillman to have a prominent role.
B
All right. A wide receiver. I am taking the shot. This is quite bold on the fantasy draft. Darling. Who has been garbage. Justin Hunter. Tennessee is taking on the Baltimore Ravens, who did not have a very good week against the Steelers last week.
A
I'm fine with this. I think Hunter's a good play now.
B
Their 30th against the wide receiver, which I'm sure has a lot to do with last week. But if you look at their numbers, they've actually given up excellent production to the wide receiver position all year. Jimmy Smith, I don't believe he's playing again. Am I correct in this? Have you heard otherwise?
A
I have not heard otherwise and that is troublesome.
B
Old. Well, not. Oh, I guess he's not old, but young man. Mustachio selfie.
A
Yeah. He coming off a buy.
B
He likes to sling it. Yeah. In the bye week, get him a little more time.
A
And Hunter was actually good the week before.
B
Right. And he. He plays. He plays tons of snaps. So I'm. I like Justin.
A
Yeah. I'm going to go out on a limb here and I'm going to give my start of the week to Michael Crabtree. What are you doing? This guy Crabtree, he's overdue. He is overdue. He got three consecutive goal line looks. Hey, you played the overdue card with Whitten. I'm playing it with Crabtree. He just has not put together one of those monster games this year. But you know, New Orleans, San Francisco. Should be a shootout in New Orleans. 27 first to pass. I'm taking Crabtree. Take it to the bank.
B
You take it to the. When you play guys who are. Do you end up with Doo Doo?
A
We'll see. Come back next week and find out. There's got to be some kind of Crabtree bet we can make. Oh, why did I bring that up?
B
There should be. I don't know what it would be. Tight end. I'm playing Heath Bar Miller. That's not it. That's not his.
A
Heath Miller was going to be my start of the week. But you stolen.
B
The jets are awful. They are 30th versus the tight end. Big Ben in fuego. Is in fuego.
A
Yeah, that's what I said.
B
I just said that the dude cannot be stopped. If you've. If you watched him play the, the accuracy and the touch that Big Ben has right now, he is. He is in a zone that is reserved for Peyton Manning. Yeah, like old Peyton.
A
Right?
B
Wait, when I say old, I mean young. So.
A
Right.
B
Old. Young Peyton Manning. He. So I've got Miller. I've to have a great game.
A
Yeah, I've got. I'm going to go with Larry Donnell this week. Seattle's been oddly bad against tight ends.
B
This year because I think just because of touchdowns.
A
Yeah. And that's something that Danelle specializes in. The running game isn't really there for the Giants, but you did see Eli throw the ball a ton last week. So I'm just going to. You know, Danelle had a couple drops. I like Danelle as a streamer this week.
B
Speaking of Eli Manning, we.
A
Sucks.
B
We had a bet last week, so.
A
I wanted to get another bet going.
B
Where it was a Cam Newton versus Eli Manning. I had Eli Manning. And this just goes to show that sometimes you have to. You have to walk your own path because the experts were 90% in favor of Cam Newton.
A
We. We should do.
B
And I was in the 10%.
A
Yeah, you were. You were. You gotta go your own way. We should do a bet between our start of the weeks every week. Pick one of them.
B
Hey, that's a. That's not a bad idea.
A
So what about Ronnie Hill and Jeremy Hill this week? The hell versus the Hellman? The hell versus the Hellman.
B
That is a very interesting bet and I would say that favors you strongly. But I will take both starting. I know. I'll take it.
A
All right. I'm not scared.
B
We need we hit. Look up what the. The start sit is on fancy pros. The start sit of Hillman versus Hill. Okay, let me see what the percentage.
A
Let me do that.
B
So we, we do water bets with each other where we. The loser gets doused in water in a hilarious way. We're. I believe we're gonna record 70.
A
30 for Hillman. Yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
Do you want a couple points?
B
Yeah, give me three. I was gonna say five. If you give me five points, I'll give you three. Four.
A
You were just gonna take it straight up?
B
Yeah.
A
Take my generosity.
B
Four.
A
Three and a half.
B
Three and a half. All right, three and a half.
A
All right, 3 1/2 points.
B
That's such a bad.
A
Hillman versus Hill. No, it isn't. It's not. Jeremy Hill, much better week than Hillman last week.
B
Not much better. Slightly better, actually.
A
If I go to PPR, it's 73. 27.
B
Yeah. So let's talk about defense.
A
Well, no, no, you were. Hold on real quick. You were going to talk about the water bet and then you got distracted. So.
B
So I said we make bets and then the loser gets water thrown on the bat.
A
And what I was going to say is the next five star review we get, if somebody leaves a five star review before our next show on itunes, we'll release video of the water bet and me getting doused. How about that?
B
That's Good.
A
Me getting destroyed by. Me spinning the wheel of water and getting destroyed by the water.
B
There you go.
A
And then if I win this week, I'll do it right back.
B
That's true. So defense. I'm taking the Cardinals. They're available in 40%, I think more than 40% of ESPN leagues. They're playing the St. Louis Rams, who are not very good on offense. And the Cardinals have a very good defense. And of five of eight games, St. Louis has given up double digits to two defenses. So I'm taking the Cardinals this week.
A
And I'm gonna go with the Ravens at home against Tennessee. They just got embarrassed. They. I just don't. It's more about what I don't like about Tennessee and the fact the Ravens are at home. Tennessee gives up 23rd or this basically the ninth most points to fantasy defenses. So I'm gonna go with the Ravens because they're available in about 71% of leagues.
B
Oh, that's a lot.
A
Hey, it is.
B
Hey, let's. Let's take on the world.
A
Let's do it.
B
The fantasy footballers versus the world.
A
Yeah, pump that up.
B
So this is a start sit game that we like to play where I go to fantasy pros and I grab some commonly asked questions for.
A
We should be arguing for opposite sides on this. Well, I mean, if we. I mean, if they're close.
B
Well, then we would have to.
A
And then see who's right or see who's in the majority.
B
Well, the, the hopes is that all of these are close because I. Yeah, wait. My initial gut reaction when I grab the. The question is, oh, that looks pretty close. And I. You. Hopefully it's under 70%. I like it in the 60s or 50s. 50s is the best.
A
So you're talking about two guys that are facing off and start sit question. Would you rather start in this first example? It's Eric Decker or Brandon Cooks.
B
No, Eric Decker is playing the Steelers and Brandon Cooks is playing the 49ers. And when I got done at this, you'll see there's a theme of. There's actually a lot of the 49ers Saints, but these are questions that need to be answered.
A
Yes. Yes. So if you're in this situation, Eric Decker or Brandon Cooks, this one is not that close to me.
B
Really.
A
No, I, I take Eric Decker. I have Eric Decker the whole way.
B
Hmm. That is interesting because. So the jets are. So they play the Steelers and Palomalu is out. Ryan Shazir is out. Decker did score and Cooks is coming off a bad week and you'll have.
A
To pick one, man. Pick one.
B
Well, it's not just pick one. People want to hear why we're picking them. They're not just.
A
You haven't said why you're picking them.
B
Well, I was just talking it out, man. All right, so I'm taking Brandon Cooks.
A
All right, let's do it. Let's take a look at. I do have it pulled up. The consensus has Eric Decker at 60.
B
Okay, that's fair. That's not bad.
A
Not too shabby.
B
All right, next on the list, we have Reuben Randall. Sir Drops a lot versus Harsh versus Alan Robinson And Reuben Randall. They're taking on the Seahawks and Alan Robinson is taking on Dallas. Over in London. London town.
A
I am going to go with Ruben Randall.
B
Oh, gross.
A
I know.
B
Explain yourself.
A
I think that the attention is going ODB's way and Randall is a reliable. I just think. I'm just taking this. He's reliable.
B
Reliable. Dropping it.
A
No, he had one drop yesterday.
B
He just.
A
Randall is a good for 6 for 60. I. In a comparative thing, I'm not saying I love Ruben Randall. I'm saying I like him more than Alan Robinson this week, which obviously you're not going to take Ruben Randall because you just said gross. And you love Alan Robinson.
B
I do love Alan Robinson.
A
I feel like we should be betting this one. We should double. We should double down here. Let's bet again.
B
All right.
A
Alan Robinson versus Ruben Randall.
B
Got to keep track. We will.
A
We got memories. All right. All right. You want to know what fantasy pro.
B
I do.
A
I just clicked it. 70% have Ruben Randall.
B
That's fine.
A
I know because I got wet last time. It was that kind of person.
B
You got wet when it was 90%.
A
I know. The next one on our list. Oh, we got more Saints.
B
We got a character we've already talked about.
A
Yeah. Michael Crabtree and Marquis Colson. I think you already know who I'm going with. Michael Crabtree.
B
Yes. Colston has been very hot. Cold.
A
Cold.
B
Ston. I need, like, a clown nose.
A
Yeah.
B
But I'm going to take Crabtree.
A
7426. 74% of experts agree. Michael Crabtree's gonna. Yeah, we'll see the next one on our list. What is this? Like, this is the wide receiver start set of the world.
B
That's all it is. Yeah, they all look good.
A
Larry Fitzgerald or Percy Harvin.
B
That's a good question.
A
It is a good question. I just think players. I mean, if you're in an all wide receiver league, these are really relevant.
B
To you, these are all lower level wide receivers, and these are guys that you could potentially have both of them on your team.
A
I agree. I'm going to go with Larry Fitzgerald.
B
Larry Fitzgerald is playing the Rams. Percy Harvin's playing the Steelers.
A
Who are you going with?
B
Oh, man. With Percy Harvin getting all those targets and being force fed, my heart wants to go Fitzgerald, but I think I'm gonna have to lean Harvin. It would take, I believe, a Fitzgerald touchdown to have him outscore Harvin.
A
Yeah, for me, I like the momentum I've seen in the targeting of Larry Fitzgerald. I think they've moved the ball.
B
He's gotten more.
A
Yeah, they realize he's pretty good. Hall of famer. 70. 30 is the number. 70% say Larry Fitzgerald against St. Louis.
B
So the experts are very pretty polar.
A
And they all agree with me on every single one. So that's, you know, makes sense.
B
It worked out last week.
A
Shut up.
B
All right.
A
You finally. You finally departed on wide receivers here. I think this is a good one. Frank Gore against the Saints or Joy Bell against Miami.
B
2. Very underperforming.
A
Yeah, I'm taking Gore. I noticed I took everybody on the left side of this list because you.
B
Saw their name first. You just.
A
No, no, I just. Obviously me and the experts all agree I'm going with Gore.
B
The. I would go. I'll lean Frank Gore as well. I think Reggie Bush is supposed to be back, you know, with Theo Riddick. Those. Those fellas taken the. The passing downs away from Joic Bell, and Joic Bell has been disappointing. And Miami has a pretty, pretty good defense. I don't know if you know this.
A
I do. However, the experts think Joy Bell's gonna have a better game. 57% say joy bell.
B
There we go.
A
Over Frank Gore.
B
So well, that was a bit of a failure of versus the world.
A
No, it's not a failure at all. The. Those are still relevant questions. We just had a lot of wide receivers in there, but pretty good. Pretty good. I think people are, you know, at this time of the year, everyone wants to. I do this all the time, too, and I've learned this over the years in fantasy. So I'm going to drop some knowledge on you.
B
Yes.
A
Go with that first decision you make. Unless some big breaking news comes out that changes it. I really believe that you go. If you're struggling with it and you listen to the podcast and you hear something that makes sense, then go with it. But if you are sure, even if we tell you otherwise, if you're sure. I say go with it because more often than not in fantasy, I notice that if I'm flipping guys in and out all week long in somewhat of a paranoid panic, am I playing the right guy? I end up playing the wrong guy.
B
It's like a test. When you're, when you're taking a, one of those school tests, they say always, always go with your first answer. So it's usually right.
A
I agree. Go with your gut.
B
I say go with, go with Mike Wright's analysis.
A
There you go. Or go with us.
B
The hitman's analysis.
A
There you go. So no, that's pretty good. Let's. Let's hit the mailbag.
B
Mailbag.
A
Oh, yes. Oh, yeah.
B
We need. And you know what? He probably wouldn't cost that much if we could get like David Lee Roth in here.
A
Just probably wouldn't cost that much for.
B
Every drop just at the end.
A
Are you aware of how much not money we're making from this podcast?
B
We're talking about David Lee Roth, though.
A
Oh, okay. So.
B
But after every drop just happens to.
A
Change in your pocket, that would be pretty awesome. We'd move up the charts. Five star reviews would be flying in.
B
It's the Fantasy Footballers featuring David Lee Roth. Get it done. All right, so the mailbag. This is where our listeners write into, right into us. And they want to know what we have to say.
A
And don't forget the rules.
B
Yes, the rules.
A
We don't ask any questions pretty much anymore if you don't put in a unique name.
B
Yeah, we don't want to know your real name. Put in a funny name. But you know, I will note this, try and remember what, what funny name you wrote in so you know that your question got read if you find.
A
Oh, that's a good point.
B
And remember your question.
A
Yeah, well, you know, if the question's getting answered, the question's getting answered. So why don't we take turns on some of these and talk about them?
B
All right, so coming in from Filthy Phil, philanthropist.
A
I can't even pronounce that.
B
That's. He must be a no Effects fan. That's a band. That's a punk band. You probably are not cool enough to know, hey, man. But 17 year old Mike enjoys that reference very much. He has a waiver question. Would you pick up Mike Evans, Owen Daniels or Martavis Bryant? Ooh, Andy. Andy Holloway, fantasy footballer, has his index finger up and the rest of his fingers covering his mouth in deep thought.
A
So I'm going to give some interesting advice on this one. It is a Good question. For me, Owen Daniels is not a consideration, but looking at Evans and Bryant is. This is a tough decision. And here's what. Here's a little tip. When you're in this situation, two guys you really like, because I like both these guys, I would look at their matchup this week and look at who you think is going to look really good on the waiver wire next week. Because if you like Evans long term, but Bryant's going to have the bigger week this week, you're not going to have a chance to get Brian again the rest of the year. So just keep in mind, look a little bit more long term in terms of what things will look like on the waiver wire next week. That's what I would say. So for me, this is really tough. I'm going to go with Mike Evans because he has a dedicated number two role in that offense.
B
That was exactly what I was going to say.
A
That's my choice.
B
I really like Bryant. I do think he's going to establish himself as that number two. But for now, he's still splitting snaps with Marcus Wheaton even though he's been scoring multiple touchdowns every single game. So I would lean Mike Evans because he is the number two receiver.
A
Evans, Brian Daniels. That's what I.
B
That's. That's exactly how I would do it.
A
So let me pull. Pull another one up here. We got. Down with the stream, Sniss.
B
Down with the streamness, man.
A
Oh, my goodness.
B
Keep going.
A
This is a defensive question, and I cannot possibly focus if I have Rage against the Machine in my head.
B
Rage against the machine.
A
Wait, what did you say?
B
Oh, my goodness. It's disturbed.
A
Oh, yeah, that's right. Oh, here I was, like, pondering it. This is why Philly, filthy. Whatever your name was.
B
Filthy Phil, philanthropist. This is why you're apparently 75 years old.
A
I can get a couple mixed up. They're both older songs.
B
Turn down that rock and roll music. It's too loud.
A
Pocket full of shells.
B
That. That would be raging as. I know.
A
I know it is.
B
All right, look, let me put my.
A
Glasses up on my face. Sorry, I'm. You know.
B
Well, we gotta wrap up because the buffet opens up here pretty soon.
A
Oh, my gosh.
B
You know, read the man's question.
A
Yeah, I'm reading.
B
I guess we don't know.
A
Yeah. Because we have this stupid rule about our emails. Green Bay versus the Bears, Bills versus the Chiefs or Bengals versus the Browns? Bears. Bills. Browns. Okay, so Green Bay versus the Bears, Bills versus the Chiefs, Bengals versus the Browns.
B
I would what is happening?
A
I am going Bengals, Bills, Packers.
B
I'm gonna go Bills. Banger. Bangers.
A
Bangers.
B
Bills. Bengals.
A
Bengals.
B
Green Bay Bills. The Bills at home versus the Chiefs.
A
He went with the better statistical defense over the better matchup. Probably.
B
Yeah. I still don't believe in the Chiefs too much. The Bills are at home. They're coming off the bye, and I don't know, they have a. They have a good defense with a very good run defense. And if you shut down the run on the Chiefs, I'm not believing that Alex Smith can overcome that.
A
I think that's pretty fair. That's a good team.
B
And they get turnovers and sacks and things like that.
A
Word. Word.
B
All right, next question is Wally White.
A
Why is everybody's names three names?
B
Because. I don't know, maybe it's the rule of three. Man. Things are funnier in threes.
A
Let's answer some questions.
B
Wally. Wally walks in free.
A
No, Yeah, I got it. Go on.
B
Oh, I thought that was a good one.
A
That's Rage against the Machines lead singer's name. I know. I know who that is.
B
This is a tight end start. Heath Miller versus the Jets. Hehe. Heath Miller and the jets versus.
A
You're becoming a caricature or stud.
B
Julius Thomas versus Oakland.
A
Julius. Julius, Julius, Julius, Julius.
B
You're staying with player studs.
A
Yeah, I am. This is the equivalent of saying Heath Miller versus the jets or Jimmy Graham versus the 49ers. I mean, I'm playing the stud.
B
I don't think it's anywhere close to Jimmy Graham.
A
What you're saying, because Graham's easier to play or harder easier. Okay.
B
If it's Graham, it's no question.
A
And Thomas got like two targets last week. He caught them both and he scored a touchdown.
B
Right. But that he's not getting targets and he's not getting catches. If he doesn't get a touchdown, he's.
A
I think Walker's out. And Julius is huge this week.
B
Yeah. So I would. I mean, you got. It's hard to sit your stud. Even if Heath Miller is a guy I really, really like this week you still have to go with your top.
A
Guy fantasy pros numbers. You want to guess probably in the 90s, 100 to nothing.
B
Okay, there you go.
A
So. But yeah, he does have the question and we're answering it for him.
B
So you just made Wally. Wally feel like a Molly moron.
A
All right, next question from Charles Sims. Because we always get a question from an actual athlete once a week.
B
Man.
A
We are just the words getting out.
B
Cam Newton.
A
We have those six five star reviews.
B
We did downgrade though from, from Cam Newton to Charles Sims.
A
Maybe not in my opinion. Charles Sims versus Atlanta or Trey Mason versus Arizona. This is a really good question. Both guys are. It's a good question. But for me if Sims is active, I'm taking a chance with him against Atlanta. I'm not really messing with Trey Mason and the three headed RBBC against Arizona.
B
I'll say. I actually think the RBBC is, is not three headed. I think Troy Mason maybe two but Mason still got the bulk. True, true carries. So to me this is actually a quantity versus a that's fair. A very stout running defense and an unknown versus a garbage defense.
A
So you're going Mason.
B
Oh man.
A
It if the numbers are overwhelming on this one too. If you look at fantasy pros, I.
B
Haven'T looked at it yet but I, I have to take the guy who I know is gonna get the carries. Even if the matchup is really hard. Just hope he squeezes in a touchdown. So I'm taking Trey Mason.
A
Yeah. Yeah. Good call. Trey Mason. With 94% of experts agreeing. One more final.
B
Our final question. I don't, I don't know how this, this guy emailed in.
A
I don't know how one house Twitter he come. It comes across on Twitter.
B
Well how did he type first of all which this is getting into all sorts of things that we should not be talking about because I just keep going. I just figured it out. I am digging a giant hole and I will never get out. But this email email comes in from Arian Fosters groin.
A
What? What? We've gotten emails from his hammy before but never his groin.
B
So his groin. Well he's, his groin is on by this week and we all, we all know much how much Aaron Foster loves fantasy football. He does. He spoke glowingly of it many, many times. He has a wide receiver. A PPR question. Do you take Golden Tate versus Miami or ODB versus Seattle? Calvin Johnson is supposed to be back. Does that take some of the shine off of Golden Tate?
A
This is a pretty brutal one. Who would you go with if it's your team?
B
Oh man. If it's my team in ppr.
A
Oh, so full ppr. I actually go, I'm gonna go back.
B
You can take Beckham. I, I think I would lean Beckham because I don't like Ruben Randle. I agree with you on the garbage time and he's just, he's gonna get targets and I think Calvin Johnson. Stafford will see Calvin Johnson on the field and he sees nobody else once Calvin's on the field. So I'm gonna lean. Odb.
A
All right, well, that's it for the mailbag section and this edition of the Fantasy Footballers Podcast. I am Andy and that's Mike the Hitman. Self titled. Self titled. Hey, Right.
B

Episode Title: Fantasy Football Podcast for Week 9/10
Release Date: November 4, 2014
Hosts: Andy Holloway and Mike "The Fantasy Hitman" Wright
Podcast: The Fantasy Footballers
In this engaging episode of The Fantasy Footballers, hosts Andy Holloway and Mike "The Fantasy Hitman" Wright dive deep into Week 9/10 of the NFL season, offering expert analysis, strong opinions, and actionable advice to help listeners dominate their fantasy leagues. Skipping the usual fluff, they focus on crucial updates, player evaluations, waiver wire gems, and interactive listener questions, all peppered with their trademark humor and camaraderie.
The hosts kick off the episode by discussing significant injuries impacting fantasy lineups:
Nick Foles (Eagles QB):
Mike: "[03:06] The big one was Nick Foles, quarterback of the Eagles. Fractured or broken collarbone. It looks like he will be out for the year and possibly the playoffs if the Eagles make it. Mark Sanchez is set to take over."
Foles' injury could have profound implications for both the Eagles' season and fantasy owners reliant on him.
Arian Foster (Houston RB):
Andy: "[04:55] Arian Foster, another big one. He's dealing with a groin and hamstring injury but is expected to return post-bye week. Fantasy managers should prepare for potential downtime."
Lamar Miller (Dolphins RB):
Mike: "[04:24] Lamar Miller left the game with an AC joint injury but is likely to play next week after practicing. A challenging injury for a running back, but hopeful for minimal missed games."
Philip Rivers (Chargers QB):
Andy: "[05:00] Rivers hurt his hand, but it's speculated that the Chargers kept him in the game due to the lopsided score. This directly affected fantasy matchups."
Ronnie Hillman (Patriots RB) and Wes Welker (Patriots WR):
Mike: "[05:38] Hillman tweaked his ankle but returned strong, while Welker left with a back injury, making him day-to-day and unreliable for fantasy owners."
A significant non-injury update involves Adrian Peterson:
The hosts highlight standout players who have been pivotal in recent weeks:
Mark Ingram (Saints RB):
Andy: "[10:45] Ingram had a stellar game with 30 carries, 100 yards, and two touchdowns, showcasing his role as a primary back in a run-heavy Saints offense."
Jeremy Hill (Bengals RB):
Mike: "[11:47] Hill delivered a monster performance with 24 carries, 154 yards, and two touchdowns, highlighting his explosive potential against weaker run defenses."
Denard Robinson (Jaguars RB):
Mike: "[13:12] Robinson has been consistent with three solid performances, averaging 94 yards and a touchdown, making him a reliable fantasy asset."
Julian Edelman (Patriots WR):
Andy: "[14:12] Edelman re-emerged with 89 yards and a touchdown, though his inconsistency makes him a borderline starter."
Mike Evans (Buccaneers WR):
Andy: "[15:00] Evans exploded with 124 yards and two touchdowns, reflecting his growing importance in Tampa Bay's receiving corps."
Percy Harvin (Ravens WR):
Mike: "[17:07] Harvin posted 129 yards and a touchdown, proving his versatility and value despite inconsistent usage."
Mark Sanchez (Eagles):
Mike: "[39:10] Sanchez faces the Panthers, a team ranked 26th against QBs. Despite recent struggles, the Eagles' offense remains QB-friendly, making Sanchez a viable start."
Derek Carr (Raiders):
Andy: "[39:06] Carr against Denver’s defense could yield decent fantasy points due to Denver's tendency to allow yards during garbage time. Recommended as an emergency QB."
Ronnie Hillman (Patriots):
Mike: "[42:27] Hillman is expected to maintain a prominent role against Oakland, who struggle against the run. Despite Monte Ball's potential return, Hillman's speed and opportunities make him a solid start."
Trey Mason (Arizona):
Andy: "[65:32] Facing a tough run defense, Mason offers quantity over quality. If active, he's a safer pick than competing options."
Larry Fitzgerald (Ravens):
Andy: "[54:33] Fitzgerald is matched against St. Louis, who have a weak defense. With 70% of experts favoring him, he's a reliable start."
Michael Crabtree (Saints):
Andy: "[53:55] Crabtree hasn't delivered monster games yet but is overdue for a breakout. Poised for high targets in a potentially shootout game against San Francisco."
Heath Miller (Jets):
Mike: "[45:42] Miller faces a Jets defense ranked last against tight ends. With Big Ben performing exceptionally, Miller is a smart start due to high matchup upside."
Larry Donnell (Giants):
Andy: "[46:24] Donnell is targeted frequently in a pass-heavy Giants offense. Consistent usage makes him a worthy start."
Cardinals Defense:
Mike: "[48:19] Facing the struggling St. Louis Rams offense, the Cardinals boast a strong defensive unit, making them a top defense start."
Ravens Defense:
Andy: "[49:11] Ravens play Tennessee, who have a middling run defense. Their solid overall defense is a favorable start option."
The hosts recommend undervalued players available on waivers who could provide significant fantasy value:
Alfred Blue (RB, Dolphins):
Mike: "[31:02] Blue is the top waiver pick due to his potential increased role following Foster's bye week. Despite past inconsistencies, his opportunity makes him a worthwhile pickup."
Charles Sims (RB, Falcons):
Andy: "[31:59] Sims is highlighted as a potential difference-maker in playoff weeks with his pass-catching ability and favorable matchups in the coming weeks."
Bobby Rainey (RB, Bills):
Mike: "[32:37] Rainey's consistent performance when given the opportunity makes him a prime waiver target, especially with the Bills valuing a strong running game."
Greg Jennings (WR, Cardinals):
Andy: "[35:36] Jennings offers reliable production and could be a key contributor, especially if his quarterback situation stabilizes."
Listeners submitted questions about optimal player starts and waiver pickups, which the hosts addressed with insightful advice:
Pick Between Mike Evans, Owen Daniels, and Martavis Bryant:
Andy: "[59:47] Recommends Mike Evans due to his dedicated role, despite Bryant's impressive touchdowns."
Mike: "[60:42] Agrees with Evans, noting Bryant's split usage but emphasizing Evans' consistency as a number two receiver."
Start/Sit Scenarios:
Andy: "[51:15] Chooses Eric Decker over Brandon Cooks based on matchup and recent performance."
Mike: "[52:15] Selects Ruben Randall over Alan Robinson for reliability despite Robinson's popularity."
Additional Scenarios:
The hosts debated various start/sit questions, ultimately advising listeners to trust their initial decisions unless significant news dictates a change. They emphasized the importance of consistency and favorable matchups in making informed choices.
Notable Quotes:
Andy [57:38]: "I really believe that you go. If you're struggling with it and you listen to the podcast and you hear something that makes sense, then go with it."
