To the Fantasy Footballers podcast, coming to you from Draft.com Studios with your hosts, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore and Mike Wright.
Andy Holloway
Oh, it's time to talk week two. Welcome into the Fantasy Footballers Podcast. I am Andy Holloway, joined as always by Mike the Fantasy Hitman. Right.
Mike Wright
I'm over here.
Andy Holloway
And Jason Moore.
Jason Moore
Oh, hey, guys.
Andy Holloway
Welcome in. It's gonna be a great show.
Jason Moore
What are you guys doing here?
Mike Wright
I didn't see you there.
Jason Moore
Oh, man.
Andy Holloway
We gather together each and every day to talk fantasy football, to get you primed and ready to win and make your friends sad.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
And that's what it's all about.
Mike Wright
And learning about zebras. We all learned something yesterday.
Andy Holloway
We did. We did. And Jason, I think, learned the most.
Jason Moore
Yeah. I didn't retain hardly any of it, though, which is par for the course.
Andy Holloway
So what did you learn, though? Do you remember that?
Jason Moore
I learned that zebras are angry animals. You don't ride them, that you're not allowed to ride because they won't allow it.
Andy Holloway
They don't permit it.
Jason Moore
Yeah. They say.
Andy Holloway
And that's really a lesson in life. If something doesn't want you to write it, you don't write it. That's a solid.
Mike Wright
And that's. That's why I tell Jason every. Every week, get off my back. Yeah, I'm tired of carrying you.
Andy Holloway
Oh, the more you know. Welcome in Fantasy Forecast. On the show today, we'll preview, I believe we'll get to six, seven of the matchups for week two. We'll get to our starts of the week for week number two and Jason's boom boom kicker as well. We'll get, we'll get into the rest of the matchups tomorrow. Follow us on Twitter @The FF Ballers. Subscribe on YouTube, YouTube.com/the fantasy footballers. Click the bell and you'll be notified when Mike goes live every Sunday morning with Sunday Live. It's great. It's an opportunity for last minute news analysis. Start sit advice. Mike hops on the live stream and gives you last minute advice.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I love it because I get to connect directly with the listeners of the show and talk through process where a bajillion start sit questions are coming to us every single day. And even if I answer that question on Twitter with a one word answer, there's no context to how I'm thinking about doing it. So that's, that's what I love about Sunday morning is I'll get those start sit questions and I'll say, this is why I would play this player or this is why I would play that player.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
And the rubber meets the road on Sunday morning. You got to put them in the lineup. You don't get to say, oh, I'm going to just wait for more news. It's time you'll be making decisions right there. Quick question of the day, guys. This one comes in from Aaron in Chicago. Hey, guys, love the show. I am new to trading players. How do you determine what reasonable trade is a reasonable trade offer or whether I should accept? I don't want to be the person who is wasting other people's times with ridiculous trades. So what advice do you have for Aaron in Chicago?
Mike Wright
So the step number one is you ask yourself, does this trade actually make the other team better or does it just make my team better? Because if it's one of those trades where you go, man, it's gonna be great if they accept this because my team is gonna be so much better. I, and I'm going to win and dominate this trade, then it's a bad offer. You're not, it's not gonna happen. We all, we all have the delusions of grandeur that when we send the trade offer of, ooh, Josh Gordon just blew up. I'm gonna trade him for Antonio Brown right now. It's gonna be fantastic. It's not gonna happen. The way I look at a trade is when I'm putting it together, I'm taking all parties into account. And then right before I send that trade offer, I'm a little bit hesitant, I'm a little bit nervous to send this offer because I believe they will accept it. And that way I know we're both winning, but I still believe that I'm helping my team more than I am hurting it by losing a player.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I agree with that. I mean, if you're talking about offering trades, there's a big problem where you come in too weak and you don't get a trade to go through. If you're being offered the trade, it's much more simple. You simply look at your roster and say, does this improve my starters and does it wreck my depth? And generally speaking, this is a broad, not universal rule. But when there is a two for one trade, where you're trading two players for one better player, the better player is usually the side you want. Yes. And things that aren't taken into account are in those situations, the team getting the two players has to drop someone. The team getting the one better player gets to pick someone up in addition off the waivers. And I'm going to throw this out there. These two gentlemen don't know, But I. Look, I've been against this for a long, long time, philosophically. And yesterday I came to the conclusion that it's a tool that I think people want, that people need, that people could utilize. And I don't know when, but we are going to develop a trade. What are you doing, Tool? I'm put. Look, if I put it out here in the podcast, then we have to do it. I believe we should have.
Mike Wright
What are you doing to us?
Jason Moore
A trade tool on our website to help us maximize value or at least be able to see, you know, what's a good trade, what's a bad trade. I don't know how long it's going.
Mike Wright
To be coming in 2022.
Jason Moore
It's not.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I think we can get there. Yeah.
Mike Wright
Okay.
Andy Holloway
I think you can learn how to code.
Jason Moore
I'm working on it right now.
Andy Holloway
In the next few years. All right, let's get into the news.
Jason Moore
News and notes from around.
Andy Holloway
Rex Burkheadt is in the concussion protocol, but was spotted in pads on Wednesday doing individual drills.
Mike Wright
Yeah. The fact that he's already in pads certainly suggests that he's quickly moving through the process. We didn't even know that. The general public did not know that Rex Burkhead was in the concussion protocol, but certainly seems like he's going to play.
Andy Holloway
We were debating this in the studio a little bit yesterday. I'm worried about Rex Burkheadt because you have the variable of Bill Belichick. You have the variable of multiple people in the backfield and you have Rex Burkheadt proving him to self, proving himself to be very, very injury prone. Already hurting camp now concussion. Sony Michelle's a first round pick and if there's one person on this podcast that has reiterated to me over and over and over again the first round pick running backs they play.
Mike Wright
Yep.
Andy Holloway
It's been Mike.
Mike Wright
Absolutely.
Andy Holloway
So what's your concern level about long term viability of Rex Burkhead?
Mike Wright
It's wherever it was entering the season, which is. I still believe in Rex Burkhead long term. Why I liked Rex Burkhead is when he was doing his damage and in that stretch where he was actually healthy and he was a running back one during that time Dion Lewis was still getting more carries than he was getting. He's. He profiles as the goal line back. Sure, Sony Michelle could take it and that's. That's the big issue. Does, does do they move to Sony Michelle at the goal line? Because then Rex Burkhead takes a massive hit. Jeremy Hill is out for the season with a torn acl. He was kind of the, the. The X factor of will he take the. The short yardage or the goal line roll away from Rex Burkhead. But Rex Burkhead is still an excellent pass catcher. He's the, he is the most well rounded running back on the team.
Andy Holloway
A lot of hype about how integral they view. So you're still optimistic?
Mike Wright
Yes, I am.
Jason Moore
And Sony Michelle is still practicing limited but he said that he is preparing as if he's going to play this week.
Andy Holloway
If Rex Burkhead misses. Oh, week two against Jacksonville. Tough defense. The only way that Saquon made a fantasy day was one big play against him. The rest of the day didn't have a lot of room to work. How, where do you put Sony Michelle this week?
Jason Moore
If he starts and rexes out.
Andy Holloway
If he starts and rexes out and we get to see him for the first time and he's, you know him.
Jason Moore
And James White, I'd probably have him. I'm guessing because we don't know, you know, his health and how much they would utilize him. I'd have him around running back 20.
Andy Holloway
Oh, I'm on board with that.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
I'd say he's a strong two.
Andy Holloway
If that's the case, they expect Leonard Fournette. So Josina Anderson from ESPN says she expects Leonard Fournette with the hamstring injury to play on Sunday. We'll keep you up to date. Tomorrow we have in and out. We'll see.
Mike Wright
Yeah, Mike, we will see.
Andy Holloway
Mike Vrabel, head coach of the Tennessee Titans, said that barring a setback, Marcus Mariota should be good to go for Week two against the Texans. This is very good news for pass catchers and Corey Davis.
Mike Wright
Tennessee, this is huge. It's huge news for Corey Davis, who was already a target monster. Then you lose Marcus Mariota's previous favorite target from multiple years of Delaney Walker.
Andy Holloway
So this is crucial for last week, Mariota went out. He had Blaine Gabbard for half of that game.
Mike Wright
Look, the blonde bombshell is not getting it done.
Andy Holloway
He was a target monster. Corey Davis, 13 targets, only caught six of them. Do you view that as a buy low opportunity? Because efficiency is going to go up. Mariota will be out there. Do you think that Corey Davis is somebody that you could buy that has, you know, he doesn't have a shine to him yet, right?
Jason Moore
Yeah. I mean, he's a guy that coming into the draft you could argue was a value if you believe he's going to hit. Now, the injury to Mariota does still concern me in the sense that, you know, we've seen his poor play when he's hampered by injuries. And so if his accuracy is off, it's not going to be good. But if you told me, you know, imagine, imagine the week before the season, Delaney Walker goes down, Corey Davis's skyrocketed. Would have skyrocketed. Absolutely. So this is, I think, I think you called a good shot there, Andy. You go see if the Corey Davis owner is disinterested in his Week one performance.
Andy Holloway
Kyle Shanahan is not sure if Marquis Goodwin is going to play in week two. You had Dante Pettis last week, two for 61 and a touchdown. He's a player that's impressed all of us here. Opportunity could be showing itself because you also have a situation now where, yes, you have Matt Breida and you have Alfred Morris, but they're not the past catching weapon that Jerick McKinnon was. There are targets that have opened up Simply because Jerick McKinnon is now out for the season. You saw it last week. Matt Breida, one catch.
Mike Wright
Yep.
Andy Holloway
George Kittle had opportunity. Dante Pettis could be flexworthy this week if Marquis Gooden is out.
Mike Wright
I 100% agree with that. The Lions got manhandled by a rookie quarterback playing for the Jets.
Andy Holloway
Yes.
Mike Wright
I mean, that's not to besmirch the jets, but things haven't been going well for that franchise. And they came in and they looked like they were playing a college team. The way that they handled the Lions.
Andy Holloway
You know what's interesting about the jets is Jermaine Curse is going to be returning as well. Like that wide receiver court with a healthy Quincy Anunois suddenly looks very good. Very interesting.
Mike Wright
Yes.
Andy Holloway
Prior Anunwa Anderson Curse and Bilal Powell out of the backfield.
Mike Wright
Yeah, very interesting, very interesting.
Andy Holloway
Aaron Rodgers called his injury a sprained knee. No commitment to the Vikings game. We'll update you tomorrow. David Johnson limited in practice, doesn't seem to be a concern about his availability. Same with DeAndre Hopkins. Otherwise, Kenneth Dixon big news is the big news. Kenneth Dixon, running back for the Baltimore Ravens who had 15 carries last week to Alex Collins seven. He's been placed on the injured reserve.
Jason Moore
Alex Collins is a target. To me, very similar. If Kenneth Dixon had gone on the IR one week earlier prior to the start of the NFL season, I would have been all in on Alex Collins because now his role is secure. If he fumbles or if, you know, he's not getting it done. That wafer thin loyalty to him is kind of just. It has to be there now.
Andy Holloway
Thin way. Fair thin wayfair. I don't know that reference out there.
Mike Wright
Yeah. I love that you went with the word wafer along with Alex Collins though. We talked about him on the waiver show. That saying Buck Allen needs to be added for your team.
Andy Holloway
Starting to look even better if you.
Mike Wright
Said, eh, I'm going to pass for now on Buck Allen. If he's still on your waiver wire, you need to add him.
Andy Holloway
I have waiver regrets of not grabbing Buck Allen.
Jason Moore
I'm spending too much.
Andy Holloway
No, I understand. I spent a lot on Kittle. That was a team decision.
Mike Wright
You went. I went Beverly Hills.
Andy Holloway
I know. I feel like I almost did our listeners a disservice with my expenditures there. But that, that should illustrate the fact that every league is different. What you're trying to do in every league is different. And that's why we can't just tell you go spend $20.
Mike Wright
Right.
Andy Holloway
If you're in a league where you look for the record, the second team bid 40.
Mike Wright
On Kittle.
Andy Holloway
On Kittle. So I don't get Kittle if I don't bid 44. It was a high spin.
Mike Wright
Well, you could have done 41.
Andy Holloway
That is true. Mike. Thank you.
Mike Wright
Or 42.
Andy Holloway
I don't want to talk to you anymore. Here's the thing. I bought Philip Lindsay in that league and I regret not buying Buck Allen for cheaper. Yeah. Because later in the day you find Out. You know that you didn't have that information. No, I didn't. But I also after it happened, I'm going, man, should I have gone Buck Allen? And then that got pushed a little further. So a reminder, look, it's Thursday will be, you know, the Thursday night game is tonight. Make sure that you take your Thursday night players out of your flex spot and put them in a dedicated roster spot. This gives you flexibility for all the injuries that we'll be talking about. So if you have a guy, let's say you are committed to playing, you're playing Alex Collins. Yeah. You're playing Alex Collins. He should be in your running back spot tonight, not your flex.
Jason Moore
Even, even Buck Allen is a better example. Because the thing is, is if he is the worst on your roster, get. That doesn't mean he has to be in the flex. Get. If he's going to play tonight, he.
Mike Wright
Does more, fewer points.
Jason Moore
Put him in the running back position. So that should. That other running back or, you know, whatever position you're moving them to get injured between now and Sunday, you have more flexibility in that flex position. I made this mistake. I started Devonta Freeman in the flex spot last week. Yeah.
Mike Wright
Week one. It's real easy to do it.
Jason Moore
Yeah. And I was. And listeners were like, wait, I thought you're always telling us. I was like, thank you. That's a good reminder. Get your Thursday night players out of the flex and into the position.
Andy Holloway
Sesame street, everybody makes mistakes. Everybody makes mistakes.
Mike Wright
That's one of their mottos.
Andy Holloway
It's just one of the things I remember learning as a small child from Sesame street and it served me well, Mike. It's proven very true in my life. All right, without further ado, let's get into these matchups.
Jason Moore
Fantasy forecast.
Andy Holloway
All right. Excited to talk about Week 2 matchups. It's just nice to have one week in the books to see what teams are doing. Let's talk about the Panthers traveling to Atlanta to take on the Falcons. Falcons are six point favorites at home in this game. The Panthers are 1 and oh, the Falcons are 0 and 1. Let's talk about the upside for the Carolina offense in this matchup. The Panthers did not show us a lot on offense last week. They were at home against Dallas. It was a low scoring affair. What are your thoughts on this Panthers offense and who benefits the most from Greg Olson missing?
Jason Moore
From Greg Olson missing. I think the primary beneficiary is Christian McCaffrey. He should be the lead here. I mean, Christian McCaffrey would be all three of our starts of the week if he wasn't obvious and everyone is starting Christian McCaffrey, we don't usually talk him up. Talk about the primary guys, but with the injuries to the Atlanta Falcons, their two best linebackers, their two best defenders are done. Done for the season. Yeah.
Andy Holloway
One linebacker, one safety, and they were.
Jason Moore
Already a team that really struggled to pass catching running backs. So Christian McCaffrey, despite the offensive line concerns for the Panthers, fire him up with extreme confidence.
Andy Holloway
With Greg olson Last year, McCaffrey averaged five targets, 3.9 catches, 36.7 yards, and.14 touchdowns per game. Without Greg Olson, those numbers jumped up to eight targets a game, six catches a game, 44 yards a game, and.44 touchdowns per game. It was a massive leap with no Greg Olson on the field. Not to mention they already, you know, you have the evolution of a young rookie.
Mike Wright
Yeah. The other massive upgrade was Devin Funches. If you take a look at the 17 games, one from this year in, oh, last year, full season, and the.
Andy Holloway
Game from Devin Escrumptious.
Mike Wright
Devin Escrumptious, of course, the most jumped in the most delicious waiver wire ad of last year. He jumps up nearly five PPR points a game when Greg Olson is out of the lineup. So I'm.
Jason Moore
He's the replacement of the big target. When you want to fire a ball, you know you're Cam Newton. You want to fire a rocket into a tight window and you're just looking for a big body and Greg Olson isn't there. It's functions and if you look at the snap percentages and the utilization and targets from week one and in preseason, the fears that I know I had, I thought DJ Moore was going to come in and, and right off the bat take over the number one wide receiver role. It is not happening that quick. Clearly Funches is going to be the number one this season. So yeah, Funches and McCaffrey.
Andy Holloway
Would you rather, let's say Marquis Goodwin misses. Would you rather flex Devin Funches in this game on the road or Dante Pettis, like between those two?
Mike Wright
Sure, that's. That's a great question.
Andy Holloway
I'd probably go Funches.
Jason Moore
I do as well.
Mike Wright
I would too. I think it's a much more safer play. But Pettis has. He's got a ceiling.
Andy Holloway
He's got the eyebrow factor.
Mike Wright
Yes, but I would still play Funches.
Andy Holloway
All right, Atlanta. This should be interesting. Matt Ryan struggled in week one. Julio Jones had 19 targets in week one. You don't have questions about starting Julio Jones. You do wonder about the health and utilization of Devonta Freeman. Jason, you have him in league of record. I saw him on your bench.
Jason Moore
Yeah, until. Until we get great practice reports. I'm.
Mike Wright
He sat out Wednesday.
Jason Moore
Exactly. I'm saying, you know, until he's practicing in full. He was hampered a little bit last year with a similar injury and it affected the play. So, you know, most, most of the times, I think if for most people, if Freeman is active, you're still going to start him. He's too involved. He's probably too high a draft pick. You're going to have to roll with Freeman if you have the luxury of having, I don't know, let's say a super dominant, unbelievable team that is better than everyone else in your league and you can bench Freeman like I can, then I would do that.
Andy Holloway
Now, by dominant, you technically mean winless, right?
Jason Moore
Yes.
Andy Holloway
Just to be.
Jason Moore
I do mean. Oh, and one.
Andy Holloway
It is so hard to troll when you're on one.
Jason Moore
It is so hard, even though you.
Andy Holloway
Probably have a right to it makes it very difficult. You got to feel confident in Cam Newton this week, by the way. I mean, Cam New right now we all have him as our fourth ranked wide quarterback on the week. The only players that we have ranked ahead of him right now, Big Ben against Kansas City, Drew Brees against Cleveland, and Deshaun Watts.
Jason Moore
I think the real question in this game that people might have is Matt Ryan. There's no chance, no chance I'm starting Matt Ryan. Carolina's defense looked very solid, which a.
Mike Wright
Hot take in my opinion, to say bench him. They're six point favorites at home.
Jason Moore
Right.
Andy Holloway
I question it a little bit. I definitely like Matt Ryan next week, but I don't know if I want to. You got better options this week.
Jason Moore
It's not to say that Matt Ryan can't explode at home. He's got great weapons. But it is to say that there are so many, so many great quarterback.
Mike Wright
Matt Ryan or Tyrod Taylor.
Jason Moore
Tyrod Taylor.
Mike Wright
Okay. That makes it pretty easy.
Jason Moore
Exactly. Because he's available.
Andy Holloway
The interesting thing, Matt Ryan the next three weeks is at home. It's Carolina, New Orleans, Cincinnati, all at home. So we'll see what Matt Ryan's made up for this season. We might see that over the next three weeks.
Mike Wright
Sure.
Andy Holloway
Entirely.
Mike Wright
Yep.
Jason Moore
All right, before we get to our next matchup, want to tell everybody about Pristine Auction? They are the only place to go if you want to get signed. Authentic signatures on the coolest gear. We've got them all around our studio. What do we got up on the Wall. We got aj, AJ Green. We got signed helmets, signed Florida footballs, signed photos. We've got them everywhere. And when people come in and see these signed jerseys, they just think, how did you amass this collection of unfathomable signed jerseys?
Mike Wright
And they say, hey, Scrooge McDuck, I.
Jason Moore
Know they're thinking you're diving into money pits. They don't realize on this auction you can, you can win these jerseys so cheap. Stephon Diggs jersey under $100 yesterday. Todd Gurley signed Rams jersey under $100 yesterday. Hundreds of daily auctions. Check them out. You will love it. It's Pristine Auction. Mike Wright
Life's an event. We have the tickets.
Andy Holloway
Everyone makes mistakes. That's what I said earlier. And let's talk about the Bills.
Mike Wright
I'm glad you said multiple, as in mistakes.
Andy Holloway
Plural. Yes, plural. Mistakes. Look, the Chargers and Bills, they're going to play football this week and it's going to happen in Buffalo. The bills are seven and a half point. Home underdogs.
Jason Moore
Wow.
Andy Holloway
43 point over under, which is not high. They're not expecting. Vegas being. They're not expecting a lot of points coming from the Bills. From the Bill.
Jason Moore
Yeah. I took the Chargers to cover here.
Andy Holloway
Last week was a disaster. It was Nathan Peterman's fault. Last year was the Nathan Peterman experiment against the Chargers. The five interceptions and a half.
Mike Wright
They're pretty bummed, I've heard.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
They thought Peterman was going to start.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
The Chargers are disappointed.
Jason Moore
Chargers are pissed at the Ravens.
Andy Holloway
You can start your Philip Rivers. You're going to start your Melvin Gordon.
Mike Wright
Yep.
Andy Holloway
By the way, Melvin Gordon, 41 receiving yards per game since week 11 of last season. That is the fifth most in football.
Mike Wright
I've been trying. I've been telling Jason for years, look, Melvin Gordon is. Is a fantasy beast.
Andy Holloway
If a regular running back, you know, flexes one arm with his running ability and then you flex the other arm with your receiving ability, there's only a few that, that do the double flex.
Mike Wright
This is very true.
Andy Holloway
And Melvin's a double flex guy.
Jason Moore
Yeah. Keenan Allen is an obvious must start. This is the matchup last year that he began his Insane run with 12 receptions, 159 yards and two touchdowns. I feel like there's not a charger I'm not starting. Right.
Andy Holloway
People want to know, though, would you flex Austin Eckler? Would you flex Tyrell Williams? Would you flex Mike Williams?
Mike Wright
Eckler, no. He got the touchdown. I get it on the big play, but he played about 26% of the snaps. I'm not trusting a fantasy asset who's getting on the field. That little.
Jason Moore
Right. That's what I was going to say. I'm not flexing Eckler. I am definitely flexing Mike Williams, and I'm okay with Tyrell.
Andy Holloway
What about the fact that this game could become a blowout and Austin Eckler may garbage time it up?
Jason Moore
That's fair. That's absolutely a fair assertation.
Andy Holloway
But if you're in a pinch, you'd play Lindsey this week over Austin Eckler.
Mike Wright
Yes, I would.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Okay. On the Bill side, Josh Allen gets the start. Rookie quarterback.
Mike Wright
A new hope.
Andy Holloway
A new hope.
Jason Moore
A much better hope. And that's saying something because we've, you know, I know Mike and I, they.
Andy Holloway
Should have called that movie Some Hope.
Jason Moore
We've been, we've been anti Josh Allen. He's very inaccurate college prospect, but he has an unfathomably powerful arm. And for fantasy purposes, the reason why I, you know, I'm anti Josh Allen as an NFL quarterback prospect, but not as a fantasy quarterback prospect because he has great rushing ability and will need to with that offensive line. This matchup isn't the best because they've got, you know, they've still got one of the best corners in the league, but thankfully for his sake and the Bills, Joey Bosa is out this coming week. So the pass rush should be only insane instead of murderous.
Andy Holloway
It's not going to be as bad. This week is not going to be as bad for Buffalo in general. It's going to be a better week for Lashawn McCoy. It's going to be a better week for Kelvin Benjamin. Josh Allen. If you're going to make your first start of the year, you'd get to do it at home. The Chargers got eviscerated by Pat Mahomes last week. I'm not expecting a fantasy start worthy week from Josh Allen. I'm expecting competence. I'm expecting him to be able to look. He's looked better than advertised for the majority of his snaps in preseason and the regular season this year. He put one right on the numbers last week to Kelvin Benjamin moved the ball down the field. I'm not saying get excited for fantasy. I'm just saying that the game flow and ability for the offense to move the ball is going to benefit McCoy and Benjamin.
Jason Moore
Are you willing to take a shot and put Benjamin in your flex this week?
Andy Holloway
I would play Calvin Benjamin in my flex this week over Dante Pettis. Over. Yeah. Yeah. I would.
Jason Moore
I would not.
Mike Wright
I would not either.
Jason Moore
Okay.
Mike Wright
And then the Dante Pettis thing, of course is subjective. Subjective to Marquis. Good one. Being out. That's how we're talking about Pettis. I want people to understand.
Andy Holloway
But I think, I think Calvin Benjamin puts up a double digit fantasy week this week. I do. And I'm willing to bet.
Jason Moore
Yeah. Yeah. I'm pointing Waterbed.
Andy Holloway
I know that that's not a place that most people want to live.
Mike Wright
Even with a touchdown, he's still. He could struggle to get there.
Andy Holloway
I think he. We'll see. We'll see. Okay. I think that the Chargers are going to score and this is going to be Josh Allen slinging the ball around.
Mike Wright
I agree. The Chargers will score good. But the Ravens scored a lot too.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
It didn't mean Buffalo did anything.
Andy Holloway
No. But Josh Allen was playing for a part of the game.
Mike Wright
Sure.
Andy Holloway
All right. The Vikings take on the Packers. I'm excited.
Mike Wright
Yes.
Andy Holloway
About this interdivisional matchup. We don't have the Vegas Line, we don't have the Vegas over under because they don't know if Aaron Rodgers is going to play yet. That is obviously all the fantasy implications for the Green Bay side of the ball. It's pretty heavily dependent on Aaron Rodgers 100%.
Mike Wright
So reliance on Aaron Rodgers.
Andy Holloway
Let's talk about what we saw from the Vikings offense last week. Kirk Cousins look good. Stefan Diggs and Adam Thielen look great. Dalvin Cook was the surprise. Dalvin Cook coming out. And this was not a timeshare. This was not a underutilization of Dalvin Cook to protect him. I was wrong about that in week one. I thought that this was the Dalvin Cook you might see in week four, week five. And it was a game that they had, you know, it was fairly close. So there, you know, there's something to be said about that. But Dalvin Cook impressed me with his, you know, rushing and passing ability. And Latavius Murray looked like a backup.
Jason Moore
Right.
Mike Wright
The receiving is what saved Alvin Cook this past week for fantasy. You had six receptions for 55 yards, but the rushing. And while I agree when you were watching him, the eye test said, okay, well, David Cook is at least back, but 16 for 40.
Andy Holloway
He looked like it was similar to Kenyan Drake, though. It was where like Drake's numbers weren't amazing, but you kind of. You got a picture of what they wanted to do with him.
Mike Wright
Yes. That's what I'm talking about. Where if you can go out and make a trade offer right now for Dalvin Cook. Because he didn't blow the socks up. Because he didn't blow up. But the usage was there and that was what was important for week one on Dalvin Cook.
Jason Moore
Yeah, yeah. I mean, but everybody is starting Dalvin Cook. They should be starting Dalvin Cook. The person I'm most afraid of right now from the Minnesota Vikings side is Kyle Rudolph. Kyle Rudolph. Kyle Rudolph.
Andy Holloway
One reception last week.
Jason Moore
Not looked at much. And, you know, maybe it was because he wasn't really needed. And what we did see was it's ironic because he was still like a top five tight end last week because he got the one touchdown. So, so frustrating tight ends last week. But he'll be. I think that that is what he's going to be this season. He's going to be a Jimmy Graham.
Mike Wright
Back to the old Kyle Rudolph.
Jason Moore
Back to the. Yeah, the red nose, red zone reindeer. Red zone reindeer in Kyle Rudolph. And if he gets a touchdown, you'll be happy. If he doesn't, you won't. That being said, you Know, look, if the packers have Rodgers and they're scoring and the Vikings have to come down and score and they're going tit for tat, that, that's good news for Kyle Rudolph. I would still be willing to start him. But in general, like he is a guy, if I had that, I am absolutely trying to shop to see if on the back of a touchdown a week one where he is one of the top tight ends, can I swap him for someone else.
Andy Holloway
And yeah, the trade you look for there is you look to package Kyle Rudolph with a wide receiver, three to go get a tight end that you're more confident in. Somebody at the upper echelon. That's right. Because then you fill the need for the other team. You give them somebody that flashed last week, like, I don't know, trade D Jacks plus Kyle Rudolph to go get Evan Ingram. Something like that.
Jason Moore
Exactly. Do you think you could trade Robbie Anderson and Kyle Rudolph for Jordan Reed? Do you think that would.
Andy Holloway
That might work.
Jason Moore
Both had a touchdown last week.
Andy Holloway
So I should say this, by the way, since week 11 of last year, the packers have given up the most touchdowns through the air in the NFL.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
So you're starting up all your Vikings, even on the road.
Mike Wright
I'm starting them up, but I was. I will still say yet again, this is a different secondary playing for the Green Bay Packers. I want to talk real quick about the Vikings dst.
Andy Holloway
Okay.
Mike Wright
Clearly if Deshaun Kizer is the quarterback for the packers, they're the number one ranked DST of the week. Even, even on the road. But are you nervous at all to play the Vikings against Aaron Rodgers?
Jason Moore
I am not.
Mike Wright
It's a hobbled Aaron Rodgers at best.
Jason Moore
And that's, that's why this is not. Look, Aaron Rodgers came back. He was on one leg last week, pumped up with adrenaline from the injury and the.
Mike Wright
Probably a lot more than that adrenaline. Wink, wink.
Jason Moore
Right. And had this unbelievable comeback. But the Minnesota defense is so good that if you're going to tell me Aaron Rodgers is going to torch the Minnesota defense while hobbled, I'm skeptical enough to where I think that, you know, what other options are you going to put in? You know, that's the thing is that this week I don't feel like there are great waiver wire defenses to play. So I'm willing to roll out Minnesota either way. One way I'm excited and one way I'm going to be nervous.
Mike Wright
We'll say since I'm Looking at, since 2014, Aaron Rodgers against the Vikings, the Vikings can can put up a fight he in fantasy football this is not a don't start Aaron Rodgers. But Rogers at on teams that are not the vikings averages nearly 27 ppr points a week that drops down to 22 now I don't that doesn't seem substantial but it really is a four point drop per average is the Vikings they can put up a fight.
Andy Holloway
All right let's talk about the packers side of the ball. Give me the with Aaron without Aaron start set.
Jason Moore
Devonte Adams is going to be a with or without. Yes to me he proved last year that with and without Aaron Rodgers he's the number one. He's okay. It's not a great matchup for him.
Mike Wright
It's like you too.
Jason Moore
Yeah it's. It's not. It's not a great matchup for him. If Aaron Rodgers is in I still like Randall Cobb. I think that Minnesota usually actually locks down the wide receiver one Aaron Rodgers will probably be in shotgun more. He'll have Jamal Williams in to protect more than run and Randall Cobb will be the primary beneficiary.
Andy Holloway
All right, let's move on Brown Saints in New Orleans. The Saints got torched last week by Ryan Fitzpatrick. It wasn't good. It wasn't pretty. It was bad. I love my Browns in this game. They're going on the road in the dome.
Mike Wright
Vegas does not.
Andy Holloway
No rain. No. The Saints are nine point favorites but it is a 49 and a half point over under.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Tyrod Taylor. Look, I was talking to Kyle Borgnoni. Did I say that right? Brooks, you need to say his name.
Mike Wright
Doesn't matter.
Andy Holloway
I know. I want to know though. I want to know.
Mike Wright
You mispronounce sounds right.
Andy Holloway
Borgignoni.
Mike Wright
I gotta admit.
Andy Holloway
I call him Kyle Borg. K. Borg.
Jason Moore
Borg.
Andy Holloway
Listen, he broke this down for us. In 2017 the Saints gave up the fourth most rushing yards to quarterbacks including the highest yards per carry. Last week Tyrod Taylor was a top 12 quarterback in the rain with under 200 passing yards. That's all you need to know.
Jason Moore
I had a really hard time deciding between my start of the week and Tyrod Taylor. I mean I did too.
Andy Holloway
And I'm in a position where I'm starting Big Ben in my league of record over signing and playing Tyrod. But I love Tyrod this week you can start Jarvis Landry. We'll talk about Josh Gordon. I love Josh Gordon this week.
Mike Wright
So then let's. Let's talk about Carlos Hyde. While the Saints were a fantasy point factory for the wide receiver position for Tampa Bay. Peyton Barber, meanwhile, was held down. Maybe that was a product of the wide receivers going honey baked ham everywhere.
Jason Moore
It's really hard to run the ball for yards when you already threw it. When you're throwing zone from the 35 yard line. Like the New Orleans Saints last year, even when they had a good defense, I brought this up last week. They weren't great against the run. That was actually where he beat them. Now the script flipped. I think, I think Carlos, great play, solid RB2. Yes.
Andy Holloway
He had 23 touches last week. You don't bench 23 touches.
Jason Moore
He is the clear cut, 100% starter. Nick Chubb. This, this is, this is kind of what we talked about early in the off season, that this could be a DeMarco Murray, Derek Henry situation. The team goes out, spends a lot of money on Carlos Hyde, then they spend a high draft pick on a highly touted running back and you think, oh, the veteran is going to be washed. The veteran is going to be overtaken by the rookie. It's not happening. This is the Carlos Hyde.
Mike Wright
Let me ask you this really hypothetical out of nowhere question.
Jason Moore
Would you asking for a friend.
Mike Wright
No, I mean this. I'm just, I'm just spitballing off the top of my head. Would you play Carlos Hyde or would you. If he's cleared, would you play Rex Burkhead?
Andy Holloway
I would play Carlos Hyde.
Jason Moore
I would as well. Oof.
Mike Wright
Okay.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
All right, look, I, that answers that question.
Andy Holloway
This is, this might be a question from nowhere.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
This might be a season long pump the brakes on Rex Burkhead. The way things are trending right now, even if he's cleared, it's like you just got concussed.
Mike Wright
Right.
Andy Holloway
Don't feel good about that. On the saint side of the ball, you're starting Breeze, Camara and Thomas. Those are done deals. We don't need to talk about them. It's Ted Ginn that I want to talk about is Ben Watson. Those are the two kind of up in the air opportunities. Ginn last week looked integral to this offense. I think the Browns put up some points in this game. I think Ginn is somebody that you can look at in deeper leagues and in flex situations.
Jason Moore
I would have no problem flexing Ginn. I think he's a solid start again at home. Drew Brees is great in that dome. Ted Ginn is. Yeah. I mean, there's no reason. There's no.
Andy Holloway
Cam Meredith could be active this week.
Jason Moore
Yes. But there's no data or film to suggest that Ted Ginn has lost anything from either talent or opportunity. So Ted Ginn is a great start here. If you're telling me there's an almost 50 point over under from Vegas Guinner Pettis.
Mike Wright
The career of Ted Ginn is so fascinating.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
From first round busts.
Andy Holloway
Yes.
Mike Wright
To mid career breakout.
Jason Moore
You realize that he gives Philip Dorsett hope.
Mike Wright
He was drafted in 2007. Yeah, he's still around.
Jason Moore
What's crazy is these speedster guys, they don't really lose their speed.
Andy Holloway
Sean Jackson, Ted Ginny, similar situation around, still fast.
Mike Wright
Good for you, Ted Ginn.
Andy Holloway
All right, we're going to move on. Let's move on to Pittsburgh. The 1 and O Chiefs travel on the road to Pittsburgh to face the 001 Steelers. Steelers are four point favorites.
Mike Wright
Judge, I'm going to need a ruling on that one.
Jason Moore
Tell me that's the right stuff. Man.
Andy Holloway
I'm laughing over Steelers and Brown songs.
Mike Wright
You fell for that?
Jason Moore
Oh yeah.
Mike Wright
I'm disappointed, Brooks.
Jason Moore
I'm shocked that you're not madly in love with that one, Mike. This is a Mike Wright wheelhouse.
Andy Holloway
I kind of agree with Jason on this one.
Mike Wright
Well, maybe I'm mad because I didn't think of it.
Andy Holloway
The Steelers, four point favorites, 52 and a half point over under I.
Mike Wright
And now I'm doing the new kids dance under the desk.
Andy Holloway
The Steelers in this game. Big Ben has QB1 potential. He is, he's a. Start him up. He's a. He's a monster this week. Big Ben, James Conner, Antonio Brown, Juju. I feel great about the entire Pittsburgh offense.
Mike Wright
What about the Vance dance?
Andy Holloway
I'm not doing the Vans dance. He just returned to practice.
Mike Wright
Yeah, he's going to play.
Andy Holloway
Sure. But Jesse James was involved last week.
Mike Wright
Because there was no Vance dance.
Andy Holloway
No, no, no. One playoff game does not establish Vance's role in the offense. No. Sorry. No.
Mike Wright
That's sad.
Jason Moore
The question here. So I know you pumped the brakes on Patrick Mahomes, Andy. I disagree. I think Mahomes is. I mean certainly pump it on the 42 point fantasy finish of last week. This is a game where you have two.
Andy Holloway
I'm in the minority on that.
Jason Moore
I view. I view both of these teams pretty similar in the fact that their defenses are hurt from what they were a year ago. Their offenses are better than what they were a year ago. Vegas agrees with a 52 and a half point line of total points going up in this game. I think this is going to be another back and forth shootout. There's every single player I want with the exception of one big question. Mark to me, and that is if you drafted Sammy Watkins in the sixth or seventh round, are you okay flexing him this week in a matchup that should be good for him?
Andy Holloway
No, I'm not. Okay flexing him on the road with Pat Mahomes. No, I'm not. And to speak to the Mahomes thing and give you our rankings right now, which you can get on the website, the fancy footballers.com, you can go to the Start sit tool. You can see where we're ranking players. Jason has pat Mahomes at 6. Mike has him at 9. I have him at 13. Reading what I saw from Pat Mahomes last week and knowing the fact that this Steelers defense is motivated, they're at home. They have the highest sack rate in the league since the start of 2017. I have a feeling that the intimidation factor of that game for Pat Mahomes, it's just going to be there, it's going to be present, and maybe he overcomes it. He's riskier to me. That's why he's ranked where he's at.
Jason Moore
I will say this, that was the first real game for Pat Mahomes with starters. So there is film for the Steelers to go off of. You know, a lot of times it's the week two that I always want to play the defense against a rookie quarterback. And this is kind of that situation.
Andy Holloway
This just feels like a potential growing pain for Pat Mahomes. That's why I have him there. So you asked about Sammy Watkins. Do you guys agree with that assessment where I said I don't feel comfortable playing him in this game?
Mike Wright
I'm okay playing him as that third option simply because I'm buying into the points. I'm buying into.
Andy Holloway
But if you had to flex Kelsey or Watkins, you're flexing Kelsey.
Jason Moore
Yes.
Mike Wright
Yeah, but. But you have made a mistake if you're flexing Kelsey because then he means you have two tight ends.
Andy Holloway
All right, starts of the week momentarily. But the Eagles take on the Buccaneers. Let's talk about this matchup before we get into the starts of the week. The Eagles with Nick Foles. It's been confirmed. Carson Wentz is not starting. So now you get the Nick Foles fantasy machine.
Jason Moore
Could you could get that? I mean, he's. He's put up huge fantasy.
Mike Wright
He is a hot machine.
Andy Holloway
You got a. Oh, that. That's what he is.
Jason Moore
That is exactly what Nick Foles is.
Mike Wright
You can get triple sevens.
Jason Moore
Him and Ryan Fitzpatrick are just. You're pulling that lever and going, come home.
Mike Wright
But More frequently. You're just dumping money into it.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
And getting nothing out.
Andy Holloway
So what are you going to get out of this game? Tampa looked pretty impressive last week on offense, but on defense, you know, Drew Brees picked him apart. What do you think? Who can you count on?
Jason Moore
You can count on Nelson Aguilar in full point leagues because he was the clear cut target. I also think it's not out of the realm of possibility for Mike Wallace to have a big game. He was open and missed on a couple of deep passes. I think Tampa Bay's defense is nowhere near as good as Atlanta's was, at least last week. So this is an. This is a much better opportunity for the Eagles to come out and score fantasy points. I think, you know, Nelson Aguilar, Zach Ertz, Mike Wallace. I think I'm actually fine starting them all three this week. Which, which leads me to believe that, you know, I don't know, maybe we'll get at least two sevens on that slot machine now.
Mike Wright
Jai Coach Doug Peterson said speaking to last week, Jay was nursing a little bit of a lower body injury for a couple weeks. He wanted to make sure that he was good to get him into the game flow and of course then said after the game happened and JI hit a monster second half, he said, we're going to use Jay Jai more. Are you buying into that or are you buying into. This is just Doug Peterson talking after a big game from his running back and we're still stuck in a full three to four running back committee.
Andy Holloway
I think what you saw last game was the worst case scenario for a giant.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
So I do buy into it. I think he was clearly the best running back on the field. Darren Sprols didn't do anything other than go out there for the snaps. I mean, he really wasn't productive. Corey Clement, he's going to spell J Ajayi. He might be in there in the red zone. I think Ajayi is the. He's the safest play on this Eagles offense this week.
Jason Moore
Yeah. You know, a little insight, peel the curtain back here to the fantasy footballers. There are certain things that happen where we get a very entertaining view from Brooks. But when you talk Jay Ajayi up. Oh, I can hear it. You can hear the smile that goes from here.
Mike Wright
I hear the saliva.
Jason Moore
Brooks, because he is. He is j a jackling like a maniac back there.
Mike Wright
He's just back there going, yes.
Andy Holloway
Hey, Brooks. Yeah. How you doing?
Jason Moore
Great.
Andy Holloway
You know, you and I face off in our dynasty league this week. Yeah, I'm aware. Yeah. You ready for this?
Jason Moore
Ready to. One of you has jj, right? Yes.
Andy Holloway
Brooks has jj.
Mike Wright
Yeah, of course he does.
Jason Moore
I will throw Sproules out as another. If you're in a PPR league, I think this matchup is better than the Falcons, so you could do worse.
Andy Holloway
Peyton Barber last week one of the biggest workloads of any running back in terms of percentage of running back snaps. Ronald Jones was inactive. I don't know if that'll happen again. I would suspect most likely. Barber looked okay.
Mike Wright
Right.
Andy Holloway
You can fire him up in this game against the Eagles defense. That's troublesome.
Mike Wright
It's a volume play. It's not by any stretch, not an upside. This is not a delicious matchup for. For the Barber. The Eagles defense is very stout against what Peyton Barber does. Well.
Jason Moore
Yeah. I worry about Barber this week. If I can. If I can bench him. If I've got that luxury. I would.
Mike Wright
And you might because he was a.
Jason Moore
You know, he's a later pick.
Mike Wright
9Th round pick.
Andy Holloway
All right. Chris Godwin.
Jason Moore
Yes. Yeah.
Mike Wright
Yes. Yeah. Yeah.
Jason Moore
I don't think D Jacks plays this week.
Mike Wright
I don't either.
Jason Moore
Official. And if Djax does not play with Ryan Fitzpatrick, who utilizes the wide receivers over the tight ends. I love Chris Godwin. Even though it's a difficult matchup. They're just going to. They're going to need him. And I think he's a. Think he is that level of talent.
Andy Holloway
All right, you guys ready for starts?
Mike Wright
I'm ready.
Jason Moore
Starts of the week.
Andy Holloway
All right, Week two, starts of the week. Let's kick it off with the wide receiver position.
Jason Moore
Oh, curveball.
Andy Holloway
And I'm going to start with.
Mike Wright
You're just doing that so you can start with yours.
Andy Holloway
That is correct. Josh Gordon. Lay it on me taking on the Saints. I'm going to ride this Saints wave here. Gordon's first game back was last week. You know, from a. A limited.
Mike Wright
Tumultuous. Tumultuous.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. That sounded like a wrong word, Mike. Tumultuous.
Mike Wright
I got it. Don't worry.
Andy Holloway
Sorry to think about tarantulas.
Jason Moore
Oh, let's not go there, gentlemen, because.
Mike Wright
Then it turns into tarantulas.
Jason Moore
Tarantula.
Andy Holloway
Jason doesn't like his spiders. I'm going to ride this wave. The Saints got destroyed on the deep ball last week. Gordon is still a dominating physical force. And what's ironic is I made this selection yesterday. I think Haley takes deep shots with Gordon. Gordon has averaged 18.5 yards per reception on his 19 catches since week 11 of last season.
Mike Wright
That's very good.
Andy Holloway
That is fourth best of 68 wide receivers in the NFL. The Saints have allowed 13.5 yards per reception since week 11 of last season. That is the second worst in the league and Tampa proved it last week.
Mike Wright
Right.
Andy Holloway
Gordon is a manhandler of dbs. He's going to have his opportunities and just before the show started got a little sleeper alert that Hugh Jackson said. Look, he's going to get more targets this week too. Last week he turned into fantasy relevant game with the touchdown in the rain in his first game back. Josh Gordon is the start of the week.
Mike Wright
I can get behind it. I think now is the time for Josh Gordon and the Cleveland Browns are going to need him.
Andy Holloway
Hey Brooks, you know who does Josh Gordon playing against you in Dynasty League?
Jason Moore
I'm guessing Andy.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, probably. Yeah, it's me.
Mike Wright
Yeah, probably. All right. My wide receiver start of the week alluded to how much I like this player in the matchups but Devin S. Scrumptious. Oh, Devin S. Scrumptious. Last year. Last year with Greg Olson missing the majority of the year, he shot up to a 22% target share.
Andy Holloway
What are the odds that Greg Olson loves that drop so much?
Mike Wright
Oh, he's doing it for the show.
Andy Holloway
He's worried that like he's just probably.
Jason Moore
Not probably, I would say decently high.
Mike Wright
I was going to go at least 0% but the matchup doesn't terrify me. He is, he is the go to wide receiver for Cam Newton and he still remains that in my opinion. So if, if right now we're on Thursday, if you can go steal Devin Funches for cheap and you need a wide receiver three Because I was not like many, like many fantasy players, I was not interested in Devin Funches coming into the season coming into draft season because his numbers were going to regress. But the injury to Greg Olson has forced the issue. It's going to force the targets to the Giant Devin Funches.
Jason Moore
All right, my mine isn't even a start of the week. Mine is a star of the week. A star has been born. It's juju Smith Schuster. Look, I was a believer coming into this draft season and I can't take a Week 1 victory lap by any means. But we have continued.
Andy Holloway
Well you can and you probably will.
Jason Moore
I'm going to.
Andy Holloway
But you're not going to do it.
Jason Moore
Look, he continued the role and here's why. I like him more than the metrics, right? Because I talked about this a lot in the off season. It was a heart versus head thing with juju because the head and the metric said he was too efficient.
Andy Holloway
He should regress like Tyree Kill or Alvin Camara.
Jason Moore
But it's the film side with juju that just makes me go. He's. He's better than the other guys on the field. He looks like a star. He's doing this at such a young age. It's unbelievable. Last week in the rain, in a run heavy formation. Who's on the field 75% of the time that's going to go up this week in a high scoring matchup. Juju is just a great player. You love Big Ben at home. Part of the reason why is because Juju is going to get a 70 yard touchdown. Whoa.
Andy Holloway
I don't disagree. Juju gives you what Odell Beckham gives you. You can give him a little crossing route, you give him a little underneath route and he can turn the edge and turn it into a 70 yard touchdown. And that leads right into the quarterback start of the week. Big ban against Kansas City. I'm starting him over. Just about everyone this week agreed.
Jason Moore
Are you worried about the elbow?
Andy Holloway
Not at all. Not even 1%. He missed practice. They gave him a day off. He's fine. It's a bruise. Happened on the last play of the game. Big Ben's going to light it up this week. If he doesn't, I'll be surprised. I'll be very, very surprised.
Mike Wright
All right. I'm also going with the bounce back candidate. I'm taking a very handsome start of the week.
Andy Holloway
Wasn't so handsome last week.
Mike Wright
No, but we were expecting that on the road against the Minnesota Vikings. But this is perfect. This is the perfect situation.
Andy Holloway
Man. In the iron mask situation last year.
Mike Wright
Yeah, we had to.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
He's gone from that to full Leo DiCaprio levels of handsome. He's removing the mask because he gets to face the Detroit Lions. I've. I talked about how they were destroyed by the jets rookie cornerback Sam Darnold, who we have been. We've been advised that we may need to refer to him as Donald Schwarzenegger.
Andy Holloway
It's under consideration.
Mike Wright
So I'm throwing that out. Yeah, Folklan, let me know. Do we latch onto that one?
Jason Moore
Stay strong, Sam.
Mike Wright
Do we latch on or not?
Jason Moore
Catch the bottom. It's a bomb. Get down.
Mike Wright
Why would you get. You don't want him to get down.
Jason Moore
I'll go deep down.
Andy Holloway
It's a bomb, you idiot.
Mike Wright
Jimmy Garoppolo is a fantastic start this week.
Andy Holloway
Okay, Jimmy Handsome. Jason, who's your start of the week.
Mike Wright
At the quarterback position. Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Is it Arnold Schwarzenegger?
Jason Moore
It's not Darnold Schwarzenegger. I'm going to wa several, several weeks, maybe a season before. It's Darnold as a start of the week. He's more of a streamer. My start of the week this week is very safe. I'm going safe with Alex Smith. I think that the floor of Alex Smith this year, he is the fire.
Mike Wright
Extinguisher for your building.
Jason Moore
He is.
Andy Holloway
Don't stick me with dialing, Steve.
Jason Moore
He's a quarterback one this. I mean I agree with you. There's just his rushing floor is high and the matchups. The thing is with this specific matchup, it's so perfect for what Alex Smith does, his tools, his weapons. I'm stacking him with another player we'll talk about in a second. So I'll get into more specifics on the stats but Jordan Reed is going to be fantastic. The weapons, the Colts defense is not going to be able to stop correct this offense at all. And it's going to be Alex Smith going out there rushing for 30 yards, passing for 252 touchdowns. And at the end of the week you're going to go, man, I should have just started Alex Smith, he's so safe. This other guy looked like a great big blow up opportunity, but he was risky.
Andy Holloway
Alex Smith or Pat Mahomes?
Jason Moore
Yeah. That's a perfect matchup. And that my answer to that would be dependent upon the team I'm playing. If I'm playing a juggernaut, then I would go Pat Mahomes because I think there's a chance Pat Mahomes has 350 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. But if I have a good roster, I look like I'm, you know, near even or favored in my matchup. I'd much rather have Alex Smith in that situation.
Andy Holloway
Good context for that decision.
Mike Wright
I've also made a decision.
Andy Holloway
Oh there's.
Mike Wright
There's no way we're possibly dropping Darnold. Schwarzenegger getting to do all the ridiculous impressions.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
So that it's not really up for debate.
Mike Wright
No.
Jason Moore
And no need to weigh in.
Andy Holloway
Just final, final answer. We are adding it to the. Adding it to the lexicon. All right. Jason, why don't you just start up with your running back.
Jason Moore
Awesome.
Andy Holloway
Because tie him together.
Jason Moore
I. If you have Chris Thompson, don't be an idiot. Start him. Okay. Because Chris Thompson is one of those players that is very often searched. Who should I start? Chris Thompson or blank? Chris Thompson or blank?
Mike Wright
Because it never Feels.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
I mean, it never feels cozy.
Andy Holloway
11 touches doesn't feel cozy.
Jason Moore
Right.
Andy Holloway
But those touches go for a lot of yards.
Jason Moore
Exactly. Chris Thompson leads the league in both yards per reception and yards after contact on reception. Guess who.
Andy Holloway
And yards poured out.
Jason Moore
Guess who is the worst at those two categories since the beginning of defensively. Defensively, it's the Colts.
Andy Holloway
Oh, you don't say.
Jason Moore
This is a matchup made in heaven. How Chris Thompson, when they get around the 20s, doesn't have a little 15 yard dump off screen pass, touchdown to this specific defense. It's just a guy. I mean, let's make.
Andy Holloway
Let's make room for two in that heaven. I've got Adrian Peterson against the same Colts as my start of the week. Mixon just destroyed them. I'm going to stay in the flames because the defense is getting burned and Peterson's rejuvenated. The line is great. It's early in the season. I'm going to combo him with Chris Thompson. Jason, would you start either one?
Jason Moore
Not only would I start either one.
Andy Holloway
You start both together.
Jason Moore
If I had these two guys, I'd be fine. This is, you know, sometimes when you had the Tevin Coleman, Devonta Freeman situation, we would recommend, hey, you can. If even on one roster, you can start both. You can start both these guys.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I'm with you.
Mike Wright
All right. I'm taking a risk here.
Andy Holloway
I can see that.
Mike Wright
I'm taking a risk because this man is firmly entrenched in an RBC, a heavy RBC, but I firmly believe in Royce Freeman, Denver Broncos running back. This week. He gets. He's at home. It projects to be a very positive game script for what he can do because they are taking on the Oakland Raiders, who were just gobbled alive by Todd Gurley. Now, granted, Gurley does that to a lot of teams, but it was a very strong performance for Gurley. Very poor on the rushing defensive side of the ball.
Andy Holloway
This game in Denver.
Jason Moore
Yes.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I like that.
Jason Moore
So.
Mike Wright
And Brad Evans, good friend of the show, he tweeted out this past week, Royce Freeman was against eight plus man fronts over 66% of the time. That is an outrageous number. An outrageous number to fact to face a stacked box. And yet he still ran 15 times for 71 carries. I talked about on Monday how Seattle knew what they were going to do at the end of the game and they couldn't stop Royce Freeman. Strong opportunity for a touchdown because we were disappointed in week one. But 15 for 71 with a touchdown, you're extremely happy with fantasy performance.
Andy Holloway
Not to hijack the start of the week. But do you feel because of those reasons that you can also flex a Philip Lindsay in this game or no?
Mike Wright
Yeah, I'd be willing to play Lindsay.
Andy Holloway
But you feel real confident in Royce Freeman.
Jason Moore
Yes. You know, one of the interesting things about Philip Lindsay you're talking about the game is at home. I am curious to see if the utilization changes. Home and road. As stupid as this sounds, when I went back and watched all the replays and was researching Lindsey Moore from this last week, I. I realized what a Denver like. I did not really have an intimate knowledge of Philip Lindsay's background until this week. And he is a Denver guy. He grew up there.
Mike Wright
He was, oh, he got that hometown.
Jason Moore
Booth from eighth grade. He got in the Denver Broncos future star program and was played college in Colorado.
Andy Holloway
I mean, well, he's undrafted too, right?
Jason Moore
Undrafted. He's just a local guy.
Andy Holloway
He just decided, I'm only going to play for one team. I'm not going to get drafted. I'm going to go be a youth undrafted free agent.
Jason Moore
And so it was one of those things where it's like, you know, hometown crowd, hometown get up. I want to see how do they use him and how does he perform when he's out of.
Andy Holloway
It will be a very interesting week too for Philip Lindsey.
Mike Wright
Yes, it will.
Andy Holloway
And his potential at the tight end. I'm going with Ricky Seals Jones. Oh, I'm going part two here. Look, I know people were disappointed last week, but you've heard us talk all week about how bad the tight end situation was. And I don't think you need to get pushed away. 92% of snaps the Rams got absolutely cooked last week. 180 yards at the tight end position, pun intended. Jason pumped the brakes on Larry Fitzgerald and the, you know, Sam Bradford. I listened to an interview him this morning, an interview with him this morning, and he was talking about his inaccuracy last last week. And it was all built around the fact that he said, look, you're inaccurate when you don't know where to go with the ball. And he didn't know where to go with the ball at the time. There's a lack of confidence in his receiving core. Chad Williams, Christian Kirk, the youngsters. The one person that you saw him have a rapport with in preseason was Ricky Seals Jones and the opportunity for them. Look, this is a 12 and a half point game. You might be throwing the ball from the second quarter on. Yeah, I think there's just a volume like even the dump off Game in the second half of the season or in the second half of the game. I think Ricky Seals Jones is a guaranteed tight end four through six this week.
Mike Wright
Ooh, I do. That's hot.
Andy Holloway
Start of the week.
Jason Moore
That's.
Andy Holloway
There you go.
Mike Wright
All right. I'm coming with two. Oh, no, I'm coming with a rhyme because I felt like if they rhyme.
Andy Holloway
You can have two. That's the rule.
Mike Wright
Well, and I want to give a real actionable start of the week. And this is a player that some people have and they want confidence in him, and that is Jack Doyle.
Andy Holloway
Baby hands.
Mike Wright
Baby hands. I still have confidence in Jack Doyle, especially if you're talking the Doyle Ebron split. He was out there far, far more running way more routes than Eric Ebron. I know Ebron got the touchdown because the defender completely fell asleep, but he was still 10 targets this past weekend, seven for 60. It could have been more, except for his little bitty baby hands where he fumbled on the game winning the possible game winning draw.
Andy Holloway
They're just so small.
Jason Moore
They are. I mean, this is the problem.
Andy Holloway
They're like baby Josh's.
Mike Wright
Yeah. Little, little bitty baby hands. But I actually like him. He's. The matchup is great. Taking on Washington. The reason we liked RSJ last week is Washington is porous against the tight end position. But I wanted to call my shot here. I'm going. Bringing the stack. Doyle and Boyle. Wow, guys, I've just calling the shot on Nick Boyle, tight end for the Baltimore Ravens. The Bengals just gave up over 100 yards tonight's game.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
To Jack Doyle and company and Boyle was 3 for 40 this past week. I think he has a great chance at a touchdown.
Jason Moore
So Boyle goes off tonight. Just the commentators are going. Who thought Nick Boyle would be this involved?
Andy Holloway
You want to be your scream at.
Jason Moore
The TV and go, Mike. Right.
Mike Wright
And if he fades into the. Into the distance, just don't. Don't remember that this happened.
Jason Moore
Just start Jackdaw.
Andy Holloway
Can I ask you a quick question, by the way? Is it better to have the boils or the bezels?
Jason Moore
Ooh, I would rather have beezels than boils. If you have boils all over your body, they're bigger, right? Yeah. Boils have to be bigger.
Andy Holloway
They have to be popped.
Jason Moore
Just think about the plate.
Mike Wright
Oh, man.
Andy Holloway
You have to pop a boil.
Jason Moore
Bezels are tiny. Boils are big.
Andy Holloway
Just to be clear. Just to be absolutely, perfectly clear.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
You think Boyle might pop tonight?
Mike Wright
Yes.
Andy Holloway
Okay, Jason, finish up our starts of the week.
Jason Moore
Look, I'm Going with George Kittle. We all saw.
Mike Wright
And it's gonna be gross if he does.
Jason Moore
We all saw. Yeah, the Kittle get down. This one's got the Kittle's pox from.
Andy Holloway
Oh, goodness.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I mean, we're going to need.
Mike Wright
A ruling from the judge on that one.
Andy Holloway
Just move on.
Jason Moore
All right. George Kittle was everybody's favorite waiver wire pickup this week for good reason.
Andy Holloway
Certainly mine.
Jason Moore
Yes, certainly yours. For good reason. His involvement down the field, the routes that he was running. Not every route is created equal. You can have 10 targets and have a ton of routes and be Ryan Grant, where you're basically not going down the field. Or you can be George Kittle, which were gronky and level routes super far down the field. He missed a couple catches that he should have had. The matchup is great.
Andy Holloway
Second most yards after the catch for tight ends this year. That's what I love. He's a yak man.
Mike Wright
He's also an air yards man, which is fantastic.
Jason Moore
He's a beast. I mean, he was drafted to be this. He's on an offense at home now that should do well. If Goodwin is out, it only bodes heavier in the favor of needing to target Kittle. So I think anybody that picked up George Kittle this week, and maybe they picked him up as a stash because they thought he was good enough, but they've got a good tight end. I think you can start Kittle.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Look, the Lions are the second worst team in the NFL and giving up yards after the catch to the tight end position. And Kittle does it. Well, I'm all about it.
Mike Wright
Yep.
Andy Holloway
But more importantly.
Jason Moore
Oh, Jason Moore's ironclad, locked and loaded, 100% guaranteed. Boom boom kicker of the week. Last week's boom boom was a kick in the nuts. This week will be better with the Saints kicker, Will Lutz.
Mike Wright
Your parents must be so proud.
Jason Moore
They're so proud of me. They're like, look, that's. That's my boy.
Andy Holloway

Fantasy Footballers Podcast Summary Episode: Starts of the Week, Wk 2 Matchups, Boils + Beasles Release Date: September 13, 2018
In this episode of the Fantasy Footballers Podcast, hosts Andy Holloway, Jason Moore, and Mike "The Fantasy Hitman" Wright delve into Week 2 matchups, discuss optimal player starts, and address listener questions regarding trades. The trio provides in-depth analysis, strategic insights, and actionable advice to help fantasy managers optimize their lineups and trades.
A listener from Chicago, Aaron, posed a question about determining reasonable trade offers to avoid wasting other managers' time with unbalanced deals.
Mike Wright offered the following advice:
"[04:16] So the step number one is you ask yourself, does this trade actually make the other team better or does it just make my team better? Because if it's one of those trades where you go, man, it's gonna be great if they accept this because my team is gonna be so much better. I, and I'm going to win and dominate this trade, then it's a bad offer."
Mike emphasized the importance of crafting trades that benefit both teams to increase the likelihood of acceptance. He further advised considering all parties involved and ensuring that the trade doesn't disproportionately favor one team over the other.
Jason Moore concurred, adding insights on multi-player trades:
"[05:22] …when there is a two for one trade, where you're trading two players for one better player, the better player is usually the side you want."
He highlighted that such trades should improve the starter positions without compromising roster depth, advising managers to evaluate the overall impact rather than just the immediate benefits.
Andy Holloway raised concerns about Patriots' running back Rex Burkhead being in concussion protocol:
"[07:13] Rex Burkhead is in the concussion protocol, but was spotted in pads on Wednesday doing individual drills."
Mike Wright remained optimistic about Burkhead's role:
"[08:14] It's wherever it was entering the season, which is… I still believe in Rex Burkhead long term."
He acknowledged Burkhead's versatility as a pass-catcher and his potential impact when fully healthy, though he noted concerns about Sony Michel potentially taking on a larger role in goal-line situations.
Andy Holloway shared updates on Marcus Mariota’s availability:
"[10:09] Marcus Mariota should be good to go for Week two against the Texans."
This development was seen as positive for pass-catching options like Corey Davis. Jason Moore suggested that Davis could represent a buy-low opportunity given Mariota's potential impact on his targets.
The discussion shifted to Bills' rookie quarterback Josh Allen and his upcoming start against the Texans. Andy Holloway expressed cautious optimism:
"[27:05] I'm expecting competence. I'm expecting him to be able to look."
He anticipated that the game script would favor running backs like Lashawn McCoy and Kelvin Benjamin over Allen himself, though Jason Moore maintained a slightly more optimistic view on Allen's fantasy potential.
A major focus was the interdivisional matchup between the Vikings and Packers, hinging on Aaron Rodgers' participation.
Andy Holloway highlighted the Vikings' offensive performance from Week 1 and Dalvin Cook's emerging role:
"[29:39] …Dalvin Cook was the surprise. …he impressed me with his, you know, rushing and passing ability."
Jason Moore discussed the potential trade value of Cook, noting his consistent usage and performance despite some early-season reservations.
Mike Wright addressed concerns about tight end Kyle Rudolph’s reliability, suggesting that managers consider trading him for more dependable options after an inconsistent Week 1 performance.
The Panthers face the Falcons as six-point favorites. With Falcons' Greg Olsen sidelined, Jason Moore identified Christian McCaffrey and Devin Funches as primary beneficiaries:
"[17:24] From Greg Olson missing. I think the primary beneficiary is Christian McCaffrey. … Christian McCaffrey would be all three of our starts of the week if he wasn't obvious."
Andy Holloway underscored McCaffrey’s increased targets and Funches' elevated role due to Olsen's absence, highlighting their potential for significant fantasy contributions.
In this high-profile matchup, the hosts debated whether to start Patrick Mahomes or Ben Roethlisberger (Big Ben).
Jason Moore rated Mahomes higher, suggesting his explosive potential despite the Steelers' motivated defense:
"[41:52] …I view this as another back and forth shootout. There's every single player I want with the exception of one big question."
Conversely, Andy Holloway expressed concern over Mahomes facing a formidable Steelers defense:
"[43:12] reading what I saw from Pat Mahomes last week and knowing the fact that this Steelers defense is motivated, … I think that, you know, what other options are you going to put in?"
The discussion highlighted the balance between Mahomes' high ceiling and the safety of starting Big Ben against a struggling Chiefs defense.
With Nick Foles confirmed to start for the Eagles, the conversation turned to his fantasy prospects against the Buccaneers' defense.
Jason Moore recommended Eduardo Aguilar and Mike Wallace as reliable targets:
"[44:56] You can count on Nelson Aguilar in full point leagues because he was the clear cut target. … I think Chad Williams, the youngsters. The one person that you saw him have a rapport with in preseason was Ricky Seals Jones and the opportunity for them."
Mike Wright discussed running backs Jay Ajayi and Darren Sproles, favoring Ajayi's potential over Sproles' predictable usage:
"[46:06] So I think Ricky Seals Jones is a guaranteed tight end four through six this week."
The hosts shared their recommended starts across various positions, emphasizing matchups and player performance projections.
Andy Holloway: Josh Gordon
"[48:51] …Gordon is a manhandler of DBs. He's going to have his opportunities…"
Mike Wright: Devin Funches
"[50:29] …Devin Funches … has shot up nearly five PPR points a game when Greg Olsen is out."
Jason Moore: Juju Smith-Schuster
"[51:39] …he just looks like a star. … Juju is just a great player."
Andy Holloway: Ben Roethlisberger (Big Ben)
"[53:26] Big Ben is going to light it up this week."
Mike Wright: Jimmy Garoppolo
"[54:53] Jimmy Garoppolo is a fantastic start this week."
Jason Moore: Alex Smith
"[55:19] He's a quarterback one this. … a star of the week."
Andy Holloway: Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson
"[57:08] …Adrian Peterson against the same Colts as my start of the week. … Chris Thompson leads the league in both yards per reception and yards after contact on reception."
Mike Wright: Royce Freeman
"[58:22] …Royce Freeman, Denver Broncos running back. … he ran 15 times for 71 yards and a touchdown."
Jason Moore: Chris Thompson and Juju Smith-Schuster
"[58:36] …he leads the league in both yards per reception and yards after contact on reception."
Andy Holloway: Ricky Seals-Jones
"[62:11] …Ricky Seals-Jones is a guaranteed tight end four through six this week."
Mike Wright: Jack Doyle
"[62:24] …Jack Doyle, especially if you're talking the Doyle Ebron split."
Jason Moore: George Kittle
"[63:57] …George Kittle was everybody's favorite waiver wire pickup this week for good reason."
"[65:47] Boom boom kicker of the week. Last week's boom boom was a kick in the nuts. This week will be better with the Saints kicker, Will Lutz."
The Fantasy Footballers provided comprehensive insights into Week 2 matchups, player performances, and strategic starts. They emphasized the importance of understanding matchups, player roles, and injury impacts to make informed decisions. The hosts concluded by reminding listeners of upcoming episodes for further matchup analysis and fantasy football advice.
