Andy Holloway
Oh, alcohol, man. It's gonna be a good one.
Jason Moore
It's gonna be a bad one.
Andy Holloway
Fedora watch is on. Found one.
Jason Moore
To all our YouTube subscribers out there, I would like to personally issue an apology and know that I hate myself as much as you hate me right now.
Andy Holloway
While you're watching.
Mike Wright
Your glasses are so fogged. You look like you're wearing a monocle.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. With the fedora.
Jason Moore
Here's a little insight. Fookland. Right before we started this episode, we.
Andy Holloway
Were, we were laughing pretty hard.
Jason Moore
We were laughing. We just, we started it like twice and I just, I was laughing too hard. I couldn't stop.
Andy Holloway
It's just one of those days. I think it all started when I looked at the monitors and saw you in a fedora.
Jason Moore
Yeah, I look like the world's most punch.
Andy Holloway
What is it with your head and hats? Why doesn't it work? Why don't they work together?
Jason Moore
I don't know. Like, it doesn't matter if it's a baseball hat. I mean, I could ruin. To cap.
Andy Holloway
This fedora looks small to me. Based on your. Your proportions. I don't know, but it's calling me fat. Not on purpose, but probably. Welcome in to the Fantasy footballers for Tuesday, February 19th. It's gonna be a good one. We've got a great quick question, a ton of questions from the listeners from the Foot Clan that we're gonna answer on the show today. And it's gonna be fun. We're gonna have a good time. And Jason, you only have one more contractually obligated day that you have to.
Jason Moore
Wear this before the burning.
Andy Holloway
You're gonna burn it on camera?
Jason Moore
Oh, sure. Yeah, absolutely. This thing is not standing the test of time.
Mike Wright
That's such a waste of a great hat.
Jason Moore
I'll sign it and give it to you Mike. And you may have this wonderful.
Mike Wright
No, we should. You need to sign that. And some lucky foot clan member gets.
Jason Moore
To win your super lucky. You're going to be.
Andy Holloway
So for whatever reason, it reminds me of like the suit that the guy wear like Jim Carrey wears in the mask.
Jason Moore
Yeah, no, I.
Andy Holloway
The pinstripes.
Jason Moore
I need a nice pinstripe suit to match this hat.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, that's.
Mike Wright
That's why it looks bad for Thursday.
Andy Holloway
All right, here's a quick question of the day. By the way. You can follow us on twitter@the ffballers on YouTube. YouTube.com the fantasy footballers. Check out the fedora. Please stay subscribed. After you do that. Instagram.com fantasy footballers. You can listen over on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, ad free on Stitcher Premium or wherever you listen to podcasts. We appreciate each and every one of you hanging out with us through this extended bye week as we head into free agency and the NFL draft and whatever new things Antonio Brown is going to tweet. All of the above. That's why we're here.
Mike Wright
That guy, man.
Andy Holloway
All right. Last week we answered a quick question about teardrop candidates. So we talked about guys that we thought might drop down a tier based on their performance. So who is a running back that you could see that you could see making a tier jump in 2018. And maybe one of you guys can start by just kind of reemphasizing tiers and how that factors in?
Mike Wright
Sure. Well, that's how we recommend people draft. That's how we. We break guys down in our rankings in the ultimate draft kit, which by the way, you could pre order that right now, get some cool extra stuff if you want to get in early. But the tier is guys that are going to score around the same amount of points. And the top tier running back clearly is more value than any other piece in fantasy football. So we're talking about guys that. These specifically, I think are guys that are right now considered tier two, tier three, tier four. Yeah.
Andy Holloway
So who's in tier one for you right now? Let's lay that out. That'll help.
Mike Wright
That's a great question.
Andy Holloway
Todd Gurley, Saquon, Saquon Barkley, Ezekiel Elliott.
Jason Moore
Yes, those three for sure. Depending on news, I could even see arguing for Christian McCaffrey to be in that team. He's on the cusp.
Mike Wright
And then depending on what New Orleans does, Alvin Camara would be tier one.
Andy Holloway
All right, so we're talking about a running back each of us picked a running back that we think could jump from maybe tier three to tier two, maybe tier two to tier one, something like that. So, Jason, why don't you kick it off with a name that we were talking about this morning?
Jason Moore
Yeah, we've been talking about him because I think he's going to be criminally undervalued. And when I looked up the very early adp, he's going in the first fourth round. So his. I think he will jump way higher than that tier. It's a guy that in his actual playing as the starter, he's pretty much been running back one every single year that he's been the starter, and that is Devonta Freeman, who got injured last year. Everybody who drafted him was disappointed, thought, oh, maybe he's going to come back in 2018. He doesn't. He goes on injured reserve. So there's just a poor taste, you know, in the mouth of just he disappointed you if you drafted him, if you thought you could make a run at him later. He disappointed. He's 27 years old.
Andy Holloway
Which signed to a big deal two years ago.
Jason Moore
Yeah, it's both good and bad. Right. Like, you know, running backs tend to peak around 24 right now, but 30 is the death age. 27 is a fine age for a running back. That's not. That's not good. Yes, it's a good year. And so I think he comes back and you saw how desperately Atlanta needed him last year. Tevin Coleman was not able to do it. We don't know where he's going to sign, but I think. I think Freeman is an RB1 and if he's not an RB1 in 2019, he's at least, you know, a top 15 back in fantasy football. He's being drafted right now well outside of that. So I think he jumps up from where he's being drafted into a higher tier.
Mike Wright
Let me give you a few names here. Jason, with your fedora.
Jason Moore
Okay.
Mike Wright
Leonard Fournette or Devonta Freeman.
Jason Moore
Devonta Freeman.
Andy Holloway
I would say Fournette for myself.
Mike Wright
Now. Let me grab one more. Dalvin Cook.
Jason Moore
I would. I would go Dalvin Cook. I'm willing to take the gamble on his enormous upside.
Andy Holloway
Mike, who you got?
Mike Wright
So I'm going with my guy. My guy. Make no qualms or disclaimers about who is my guy.
Jason Moore
Oh, this is the stupidest things. I feel like I'm just being shamed. I must have lost some bet. I'm wearing a fedora and having my guys stolen out from under me.
Mike Wright
Marlon Mack, Ek Ek Ek like sky, yeah. My guy. And you know what? Really for me it's not, it's not necessarily the running back. I want the situation. I want Andrew Luck as the quarterback and I want an offensive line that is back. They are full of young budding superstars. Last year Pro Football Focus had them graded out as the third best offensive line. Football Outsiders had them graded out as the fourth best rushing offensive line. And that's what I want. I think that they're his role. Marlon Mack's role is secure enough at the top. He gave you enough big games gave the Colts, I should say enough big games that they don't need to be in the levy on Bell hunt. They don't need to throw a huge dumpster full of gold bullion at Lev Bell. They're good. And the guys behind him, Naheem Hines, Jordan Wilkins aren't good enough to supplant Marlon Mack. So his he is in a great situation coming into next year and I'm going to be very excited for him. And we're talking way, way too early ADP over on fantasy football calculator. But right now he's in the back of the fourth round going behind Derek Henry. Going behind. Let's see. I'd probably take Freeman ahead of him but here's an interesting question for I'll throw this to Jason because I think we know Andy's answer. Sony Michelle or Marlon Mack. If Andy, I'm sure you would take Sony, right?
Jason Moore
Marlon Mack is. I would take Sony if Marlon Mack is, you know, status quo. They don't add or change anything. I think I would go with Marlon Mack here because you'll be able to trust him when he's out there. I don't, I don't like playing the trust game with Bill Belichick and you know, the New England backfield. That being said, at the end of the year, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony Michelle score outscores. But I would rather have had. Yeah. Because he gets the three touchdown games and has these monster performances.
Andy Holloway
But.
Jason Moore
But I think I would rather have the consistency of Mac assuming he could play 16 games.
Mike Wright
What about Philip Lindsey who right now on calculator is an early third round pick. Andy, would you go with Philip Lindsay or Marlon Mack?
Andy Holloway
Yeah, that's a good question. I think I and we're not really.
Mike Wright
Factoring cost in right now. We're just saying the early EDP is people prefer Philip Lindsay.
Andy Holloway
So yeah, I mean I put them in the exact same area. I think they're about the same. It's funny you brought up Philip Lindsay because he's going ahead of the guy that I have as my tear jump candidate, at least according to very early average draft position. And that's Joe Mixon.
Mike Wright
That's crazy.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I know. Joe Mixon led the AFC and rushing yards last year with 1168 yards. Look, he was second highest breakaway percentage. I looked this up. Saquon was the only other running back with 200 or more carries. They had a higher breakaway percentage, higher proportion of his runs being 15 yards or more. Mixon has fire and you saw it on a team that struggled, that lost a lot last year. Towards the end of games, Mixon was the one guy that was running hard just like he was in the first quarter. Look, he finished the season by rushing for over 100 yards in three of the last four games. And now you bring in Zach Taylor, a new head coach, new offensive system. There's a little bit of news recently. Mark Walton.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Arrested for battery, dummy. Not good. And it should be the Joe Mixon show next year. So I think if he's being drafted in the third round, in the middle of the third round, this is a tier two guy that has tier one potential. I really think he does. He has. And he has what you need to be in a tier one, which is the ability to catch the football.
Mike Wright
Right. What's interesting as I'm looking through the the way too early adp. It's going to be a narrative that happens this entire off season. As we are all to do, we overreact to what happened last year. Two years ago, wide receiver, wide receiver scoring was awful. It was just, it was a low that we had not seen in a very, very long time. Especially considering the way that that scoring was trending. You flip that and people overdrafted running backs and they bypassed great wide receivers this past year. Wide receiver scoring went way up. And so now we are seeing a ton of wide receivers going in the early rounds. You're talking A.J. green currently going in the back of the second round. And I'm trying to figure out how many wide receivers are actually going in front of him.
Jason Moore
Well, you got five wide receivers in the first round alone.
Andy Holloway
That's 1212 wide receiver, 12.
Mike Wright
A.J.
Andy Holloway
Green.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I mean like that. And that's just speaking to the depth of the position and how I look. People are going to do this in drafts this year. They're going to see what the wide receivers did and they're going to flip the scripts and overlook running backs who can be foundational, tear, jump RB1s for these wide receivers.
Andy Holloway
Well, I think the thing that's very interesting about the running back position is outside of that tier one group. Melvin Gordon should have been included in that probably.
Mike Wright
Oh, yes, yes, you are. You're absolutely right.
Andy Holloway
But outside of that, you have a variation like Lev Bell, James Conner. Right now they're kind of back of the first guys. Philip Lindsay, Joe Mixon, Dalvin Cook back of the third. So that gap, I mean, do you feel confident that, you know that Leonard Fournette or David Johnson is going to have a better year than one another? Nick Chubb or David Johnson? Philip Lindsay and Marlon Mack, you brought him up. Philip Lindsey and Joe Mixon.
Mike Wright
I do not like that Philip Lindsay price at all.
Andy Holloway
No, the Philip Lindsay price is ridiculous.
Jason Moore
I'm a big fan of Philip Lindsay. I believe he wins the job and has it. But I wouldn't spend this capital with the risk that still has to be admitted is in his situation.
Andy Holloway
Mixon and Cook should both go ahead.
Jason Moore
And honestly, when I agree Joe Mixon, Freeman and Marlon Mack are three of the better values, I think that's why we're saying we see them as possible tear jumps from now till draft season or if they stay there, certainly that's when you want them.
Andy Holloway
All right, you still have a chance to grab a signed Todd Gurley jersey, by the way, @footclangiveaway.com bunch of free ways to enter. Go ahead over there and get yourself a few opportunities to win a signed Todd Gurley jersey and some other stuff. Let's get into the news.
Jason Moore
News and notes from around the league presented by Sleeper.
Andy Holloway
All right, the Bills have. They've released tight end Charles Clay, Mr.
Mike Wright
Necessary.
Andy Holloway
Mr.
Jason Moore
Unnecessary.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, very unnecessary at this point. Yeah, I mean, he may resurface, but not in a fantasy relevant role anywhere else. The 49ers, they've declined Pierre Garcon's 2019 option.
Mike Wright
This was interesting.
Andy Holloway
Dante Pettis jersey's up on our wall today. Jason.
Jason Moore
Nice.
Mike Wright
The reason why, it was shocking to me. So they, they cut ties with Garcon. I get it. I mean, he's. He's an older guy. He's been beat up. Yeah, he's. And he's. He would have been expensive, but he's expensive to cut. I mean, 7.2 million in dead money and they gain just over a million dollars towards their cap for next year. I mean, so you're taking a huge, huge hit for. To me, it was almost like you should just pay him. Because I think that Garcon could still Be a productive part of a team.
Andy Holloway
He'll be 33 years old by the time the season starts this year. So I know that that's not ancient, but at the same time, for a guy that's been banged up, they might just want to develop a younger guy versus worry about it.
Mike Wright
That's a fair point.
Andy Holloway
How much does the declining of that option, does it. Does it aim the 49ers towards a big name free agent pickup? Whether that's trading for Antonio Brown, the biggest free agent, or even Tyrell Williams or something like that?
Mike Wright
The big free agents is not a free agent. It's Antonio Brown. Other than him, I mean, the list is garbage.
Andy Holloway
I'll be previewing it very soon, by the way.
Mike Wright
And a lot of, like a wide receiver who's at the top of a lot of free agent lists at the wide receiver position is Golden Tate.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I mean, it's.
Mike Wright
Why would you cut Pierre Garcon to give a guy like Golden Tate a bunch of money?
Andy Holloway
No, that doesn't make sense.
Mike Wright
So it's huge news for Dante Pettis, who is gonna. Man, he's getting a first class ticket right on that hype train. People are gonna love him this offseason.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, no doubt about it. We will be getting into Brooks. What is the Thursday show? I don't know. It's not the free agent preview on Thursday, right?
Mike Wright
Not quite. That's gonna be next week.
Andy Holloway
But this Thursday, 10 things to remember from 2018. Oh, that's bringing out the little black.
Jason Moore
Book that we keep all year long. All the notes that we're writing down to ourselves of, I don't want to forget this. I don't want to forget this. I need to make sure next year I get smarter.
Andy Holloway
I got one for you for next year.
Jason Moore
Don't wear a fedora.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, that was it.
Jason Moore
Yeah. Let me write that down.
Andy Holloway
Put that in your little black book.
Jason Moore
I would like it known that you're the only reason I'm wearing a fedora.
Andy Holloway
How dare you?
Mike Wright
What are the. What are the odds? I'm gonna put this to Andy. What are the odds? By the end of Thursday show, Jason starts looking in the mirror going, you know, 0% 0.
Andy Holloway
The way I believe his quote before the show started was, I want to punch me in the face. So he doesn't seem like he has a lot of confidence today on the show.
Jason Moore
No, I feel.
Mike Wright
Suit up, man. Suit up.
Jason Moore
I feel.
Mike Wright
Put the hat on.
Jason Moore
You remember when I. When I had the optometrist appointment and I got to wear my shades Inside. Oh, that was liberating. I felt like. I felt like a genius. I feel like an idiot right now.
Mike Wright
So you feel like this? You have to guard your takes.
Jason Moore
No, I feel like this has made me dumber as a person.
Andy Holloway
Impossible.
Jason Moore
I know. I'm already so low on that scale.
Andy Holloway
All right, that was today's news and notes. We've got a lot going on on the show today, so be sure to switch your dynasty league over to Sleeper. The sleeper app. Download it today. Super easy. We love it. You ready for some mailbag? You ready to answer some questions?
Mike Wright
Oh, my goodness. Okay.
Jason Moore
Mailbag, mail bag, Fedora edition.
Andy Holloway
Jason does look. He just looks sad. I feel bad now. Look, I put the petition out there. I wasn't the one who signed it. I mean, that was hundreds of thousands of people.
Jason Moore
I'll bet I can find your name on that.
Mike Wright
Jayla, let's do a quick trade. I am also wearing a hat. You give me the fedora. Yeah, and just so you're gonna look.
Jason Moore
Cool, and I'm still gonna look stupid.
Mike Wright
How do I look?
Jason Moore
Oh, you look so cool.
Andy Holloway
You look way cooler than. Wow.
Jason Moore
You look great in a fedora. Okay, how do I look? Oh, I look so stupid.
Mike Wright
You also look like you're wearing your. Your dad's baseball cap. Because my head is so.
Andy Holloway
So. All right, we're gonna dive into the mailbag. If you have a question, by the way, you can send in a voicemail question. 302464, TFFB. Keep those brief to the point, so we can put them on the show, and then you can submit questions on the website. Go to the more tab. Click submit a question, and we answer them from time to time here on the show. Try to. Try to make your life easier. Try to get you that W in 2019. All right, here's a question from Travis in North Carolina. I'm starting a dynasty league this year. I've been planning on using. Using a taxi squad. What are your thoughts on taxi squads instead of having all players on a regular roster? Mike, you've spoken before about taxi squads. Yeah, so?
Mike Wright
So for the uninitiated, a taxi squad is a. Almost like a separate roster. So, I mean, you. You know that dynasty. You keep everyone on your player. You have a huge amount of players, and there's oftentimes guys that you don't want to get rid of to make room for the incoming rookies, which if you don't have a taxi squad, that's what you have to do. So you add in a taxi squad, it's usually, you know, three to five spots. And these are rookies that you can draft and just let them sit there. They don't count against your active roster.
Andy Holloway
But you can't play them, right?
Mike Wright
But you cannot play them. If you're gonna add them to your active roster, you would have to drop someone from your active roster. And there's all sorts of different ways to use a taxi squad. It's like the dynasty league. I'm in it or I'm in that uses one. It's first and second year players are allowed on that squad. It's, I mean, it's nice because then you, you have these developmental players that you're taking with your 3rd and 4th round rookie picks that you know they're not doing anything for two years, so. But you believe in that player. This gives you an option to hold on to them and see if they actually amount to anything.
Andy Holloway
Now, there is an article on our website the fantasy footballers.com the introduction to Dynasty fantasy football article by Corey Evans. He'll talk a lot about the ins and outs of a dynasty league if you want to learn more in that capacity.
Jason Moore
So in general, do you prefer having a taxi squad?
Mike Wright
I do. I like it.
Jason Moore
I prefer no taxi squad.
Andy Holloway
Do you guys want to fight about it?
Jason Moore
No. We already know he's going to win. Look at, look at how well he wears hats.
Andy Holloway
All right, before we get to this next question from Mr. Carlita, oh, I have to tell you about 23andMe. Listen, we live in a world where we have so much access to data gives us insights, right? My kids, they're obsessed with their Fitbits. They're running circles outside the basketball court to get to their goal.
Mike Wright
Gotta get them steps.
Andy Holloway
But with more than 112 genetic reports, 23andMe allows you to go beyond ancestry to access more personalized insights based on your DNA. Let me tell you about two of these reports. There is the deep sleep report. If you always feel like maybe you are a little sleepier than somebody else, maybe after missing a night of sleep, your genes could be involved. Or maybe the alcohol flush reaction report which details the genetic factors that make it hard for some people to process alcohol. Mike Wright
Indeed.
Andy Holloway
All right, Mr. Carlita has a question. This one comes in from our Instagram. All right. Changing names mid season. Is that good luck or bad luck? This is an important question. Deep analytical thought here.
Jason Moore
It really depends on your record. I mean, look, if you're, if you're 06, you're going to need to rebrand, you're going to need to rebuild.
Andy Holloway
You've done a rebrand, right?
Jason Moore
I have done a rebrand after a poor season and also taking on a co owner and we, we made it ours. Our team name.
Andy Holloway
But the Rat Pack, right?
Mike Wright
Yeah, yeah.
Jason Moore
See, no, but man, Brooks say, I mean, we play in a lot of leagues where, you know, it's keeper or, you know, there's, there's, there's.
Andy Holloway
I don't know, man.
Jason Moore
You know, and, and I think whenever there's history, divisions, things like that, I would say I prefer to not change league, you know, your team name because.
Andy Holloway
I, you want that, you want the banners in the rafters, you know.
Mike Wright
Okay, let's just say redraft though. This is one off.
Andy Holloway
Look, if you can get a, if you can get a psychological edge over your opponent, that might be a reason why. There was a time I was going through the playoffs and. Oh yes, remember this, this was years ago. Me and Mike were heading towards another battle in the title game. And I changed my logo to this was my like little soup superstitious get in their head. I just kept changing my logo to a picture of my opponent's best player.
Mike Wright
It'll be a gif.
Andy Holloway
And then they would struggle week after week. And then when we got to the.
Mike Wright
Final, it didn't work.
Andy Holloway
It didn't work. Yeah. It's almost like the player didn't even care that they were my logo.
Mike Wright
I'm going, bad luck.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, bad luck.
Mike Wright
Don't do it.
Andy Holloway
All right, this question from the YouTube community, Dan Hinkle says, who will retire first? Is it Frank Gore? Wow. The eternal one or Adrian Peterson, whose name is all day. So either Frank Gore or Adrian Peterson, maybe they're in a competition with one another to last the longest. I think, I think Adrian Peterson will last longer than Frank.
Jason Moore
I agree. I now that there's been a change down in Miami and Gase is gone, if Frank Gore doesn't sign there. I don't know how many teams out there want to sign Frank Gore. Even though he looked okay. Like I don't know if they.
Mike Wright
He looks. Sure he looked pretty good in spurts.
Jason Moore
In spurts. But are, do you think other GMs are like, yeah, we need to add, you know, 35 year old Frank Gore. But I do think that there are GMs that still believe in Adrian Peterson. I mean, you know Adrian Peterson last year maybe.
Andy Holloway
Thousand plus yards.
Mike Wright
Yes, that's the thing that's in Adrian Peterson's favor.
Andy Holloway
Also two years younger than Frank Gore.
Mike Wright
But Frank, Frank Gore got a job in free agency. Adrian Peterson got the training camp job because someone got hurt.
Andy Holloway
You think Gore's back this year? I don't, I'm not even sure he's back this year.
Jason Moore
No, I, he could be retired.
Mike Wright
I think, I think Peterson will outlast him.
Andy Holloway
All right, Seth, on Instagram, what is Pat Mahomes dynasty value in a six point passing TD league?
Jason Moore
It's certainly very high.
Mike Wright
That's a big question.
Jason Moore
Well, I mean like at a startup, what round do you think, you know, you would take Pat Mahomes and obviously if this was a two quarterback or super flex league, you're talking in the first few pinks. Yeah, you could. I know you're, you know, late quarterback and I totally get that. I usually am too. But if I'm at the third pick and Pat Mahomes is still on the board in a super flex, I might be considering that. Otherwise, in a single quarterback league, it changes drastically for Me and I would say probably third round would be the earliest I would consider taking him third round, Mike.
Mike Wright
No, I would not take him in the third round.
Andy Holloway
You'd wait.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I would not take him in the round. And just by the way, like one thing we can actually agree on this is in this question is six point passing touchdown. It doesn't matter. Makes no difference if you're in a four point or.
Andy Holloway
But if you're in a 30 point per passing touchdown, Lee, then it still doesn't matter.
Mike Wright
Unless it's Patrick Mahomes.
Andy Holloway
I guess it really does matter at that point.
Mike Wright
Patrick Mahomes get 30 points per touchdown. Well, it doesn't matter because they all get 30.
Andy Holloway
Well yeah, but it actually does matter at that point because you would. If one quarterback touchdown accounted for all the same points that the rest of your team scored, then it wouldn't matter.
Jason Moore
We're trying to make any 30 point passing touchdown lead. They're rare.
Andy Holloway
But yes, the point is, is that the water level rises with the points scored. So whether it's 3, 4, 5, 6, as long as it's not outlandish. It's more about which quarterback. I mean he's.
Mike Wright
He's the number one dynasty quarterback.
Jason Moore
Yeah. And the reason it's hard to take him even in the third round, where you could argue mathematically the value is there for him compared to other people on the board there. But what you're forgetting about is that late in the drafts, you know, you can get Jameis Winston, who's a young, you know, bright future. Now the Arians has bought in and you know they're going to let Fitzpatrick go. James Winston will cost you very little in a draft. And you know, you what the players that are there in the third round you're going to need for years and years and years at wide receiver and running back.
Mike Wright
So, so I'm looking at. They're good friends of ours, but dynasty league football, they track their own adp. And right now Patrick Mahomes is an end of the second round guy.
Andy Holloway
I see him at 35 in my list on another consensus.
Mike Wright
But here are players. So if you take Patrick Mahomes, that means that you have passed on Travis Kelsey, Dalvin Cook, Brandon Cooks, Zach Ertz, George Kittle, Kerry on Johnson, Sony Michelle. These are guys all going after Patrick Mahomes.
Andy Holloway
I get named somebody on that list that I was like, yeah, definitely.
Jason Moore
Oh, I feel like every single name I would definitely take over. Pat Mahomes.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, well, I mean you look at a guy like Kelsey Over Patrick Mahomes. Like, I get Kelsey's value, but how long is that going to be?
Mike Wright
Long enough.
Jason Moore
29 years old, I believe, right now.
Mike Wright
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
If you're giving me at least Holmes is 23 years old.
Mike Wright
Yeah. But you're giving me three years at least then three years at Elite Production, I would take that over.
Andy Holloway
I think you do see a variety of opinions on this, though, because I've seen him as high as number eight or nine on Redraft or, I mean, on Dynasty startup drafts. Because if you could let me. Let me put the question to you differently. And I know this is hard to do, but it's still a possibility. Let's say you pencil in 45 touchdowns a year for Pat Mahomes for the next 10 years, then I'd take him. Where would you take him? You take him in the first round.
Jason Moore
100%.
Andy Holloway
I think that's why you see, the variety is we don't have enough track record.
Jason Moore
Yeah. And for everyone out there thinking, well, look what he did this year. He was a huge. I mean, when we're saying we're taking him in the third round, we're not anticipating he throws 50 touchdowns next year. It's not going to happen.
Andy Holloway
But he could be in entering the NFL at a time in which 40 is his baseline. He could be a 40 touchdown guy for the. For his entire career.
Mike Wright
He could. But if I'm getting. If I'm having replaceability at the quarterback, where I can take two or three guys and I know in a matchup that they have a high probability of throwing two, maybe even three touchdowns. And so my quarterback is throwing 33 touchdowns. Yeah, that's just, that's the route that I take.
Andy Holloway
No. And that. And that's.
Mike Wright
I get the security that people feel of Patrick Mahomes. I mean, right now he's. He is ironclad the way that people view him.
Andy Holloway
It could be an illusion, though, because Carson Wentz, I mean, he looked like ironclad guaranteed guy last year. Things change.
Mike Wright
Yes.
Andy Holloway
1. Tyreek, what happens if Tyree Kill goes down at the beginning of next year? How many touchdowns does he throw? So. Yeah, your points well taken. All right. Fantasy football bachelor party. James in Boston says loves the show. He rates it a 55 out of 55. All right. He says he's getting married in September. And instead of a cliche bachelor party, I want to plan something involving fantasy football. Some of the guys are in leagues with me and some are. Other. Some. Others are moderately interested. What do you guys in J. Griz recommend.
Mike Wright
Oh, man, you got to have the bachelor league.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
That's exactly everyone who's there you need to. I don't know if you're going to have enough to fill 10 or 12 teams, but it doesn't matter if you got eight guys there. You can figure it out.
Jason Moore
Just make sure it's an even number.
Andy Holloway
It is timing up well with the marriage in September, you can draft this thing in August.
Mike Wright
You do a live draft. Man, if you've never experienced the live.
Andy Holloway
Draft, just come to our live show.
Mike Wright
Oh, you could do that.
Andy Holloway
I mean, that's a. You can work that into there.
Mike Wright
But a live draft, the thing I look forward to, the day I look forward to, I like Christmas a little bit more. But that our live draft that we have for our league of record is top three day of the year for me. It's so much fun. I mean, you got to go all.
Andy Holloway
I drive slow on the freeway, man. I can't risk an ass on the way there.
Mike Wright
And get, get an mc, get someone to announce your draft making an extravaganza and you'll never be able to go back to online drafts.
Andy Holloway
We have an article on the site by our editor in chief, Kyle, named 5 Ways to make your live draft legit. You should check that out.
Mike Wright
He's probably talking about MCs.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. All right. Instagram question from P. Money runs.
Mike Wright
Wait, what?
Andy Holloway
Money runs.
Mike Wright
Let's just go.
Andy Holloway
Pomoni Raiders fan question. Is there any fantasy value to be had on this team? Talking about the Raiders, as of today.
Jason Moore
You'Re a little bit hard pressed. Obviously if Jared Cook resigns, he could be somewhat valuable there. When you're starting off with Jared Cook, that's the best.
Andy Holloway
Here's the funniest part. If you look at like an ADP for like a dynasty draft right now, the earliest pick from the Oakland Raiders is the 143rd pick in a dynasty draft. And it's Jared Cook.
Jason Moore
Wow. Who's not even a Raider.
Andy Holloway
Derek Carr is 165. Jalen Richard 185.
Jason Moore
Jordy Nelson, 210 the best value. They will probably go out and try to sign a big name running back. I mean, they have to. Marshawn.
Mike Wright
Marshawn and Krampus himself, Doug Martin are both free agents.
Jason Moore
Yeah. So yeah, I would, I would say that the most valuable Raider going into next year is going to be their starting running back who probably isn't on the team right now.
Andy Holloway
That's fair. That's fair. Do you think lynch is done Again, he's not. I don't think he's gonna go play somewhere other than Oakland.
Mike Wright
Yeah. And they have, Oakland has all that.
Andy Holloway
Turmoil and they should be playing though in California again for at least one more year.
Mike Wright
I think he could come back, but I'm. Right now I'm going to say he doesn't come back.
Andy Holloway
All right. All right. Here's a question from Jordan in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Hey, ballers. I have favorite fort. Yeah, that's mine too. I have pre ordered the UDK and I was curious how I throw my hat in the ring for the 2019 Listener League.
Mike Wright
Well, well, Jordan, look, first off, you have already because right now through. Was it March 1st?
Andy Holloway
Through March 1st, if you preorder the ultimate draft kit Atultimate Draft Kit.com, you are automatically entered to win one spot in the 2019 Listener League.
Mike Wright
But other than that, it won't, we won't open this up until July, August. Ish. And honestly, the way that we get people in, we just, we want people to have a good time. I don't care about your Yahoo trophy case, your sleeper trophy case, your espn. I don't care how many tens of thousands of dollars you've won. We just want to make sure you're going to have fun in this league. And we like people who are big fans of the show because it's, it's a common denominator between all of us and so it's always fun.
Andy Holloway
Line is, Jason didn't win last year so there's one extra spot open.
Mike Wright
Well, there's not because it's already taken by the champion.
Andy Holloway
There's the same amount of spots open.
Mike Wright
I mean, I guess there's one.
Jason Moore
There's no fewer than usual. Yeah, that's usually I win.
Andy Holloway
That's right, Jason. Normally it's a worse situation for you out there.
Mike Wright
Yes. But yeah, you big fedora couldn't take it home.
Andy Holloway
Once we start taking entries in, you can send in videos. You can send in. We've had everything. We've had. We've had videos, we've had political type speeches on video. We've had songs, we've had art sent to us. Yeah, we've. We've got a pair of Back on the foot clan wall. We've got a pair of vans just that are painted with our logo on them.
Mike Wright
The other tip, besides no trophy case screenshots is too long. Didn't read. Man, don't. Don't send me a wall.
Jason Moore
We have text because we have hundreds of these things to go through and I And it's a shame because if you take the time out to write this big long 12 page letter to us, I feel like I should read it.
Mike Wright
But too long. Didn't read.
Jason Moore
But I didn't.
Andy Holloway
All right. So that's how you get in. You also get 10 bucks right now to shopballers.com for free if you pre order the ultimate draft kit. All right. This question comes in from Twitter from Joshuaorum. Big Ben's value with no AB or Bell. Question mark.
Mike Wright
I think he'll be fine.
Jason Moore
I do not.
Mike Wright
I honestly think he'll be okay.
Jason Moore
I think that Big Ben is going to be a very risky pick. If you lose Antonio Brown.
Andy Holloway
I mean, your lows are going to be lower.
Jason Moore
Yeah, his. It's not like Big Ben has been this automatic stalwart, top five fantasy quarterback year in and year out. He usually isn't. And that's with Antonio Brown. I think you take Antonio Brown off and he'll be a guy I'm happy to draft in the double digit rounds because I do think he'll have great games. But he's a streamer and nothing.
Andy Holloway
Kirk Cousins are Big Ben. If AB and Bell are gone, I.
Jason Moore
Would probably draft Big Ben over Kirk just because I'm afraid of what the Minnesota offense is going to turn into with the offensive coordinator change. I think they want a real Kirk Cousins back.
Andy Holloway
Did we Talk about Baker vs Big Ben?
Mike Wright
Have we. I don't. I don't know if we have. No.
Jason Moore
That's a great one though, because they're both going to be late in the draft. You'll. You'll be able to draft either one in the man in the 10th round. I know for me, I would rather take this shot at Baker. This is the argument I was making a while ago. That's not even to say that Baker will be ahead of my rankings.
Andy Holloway
So Big Ben is 36. What did he finish as this past year?
Mike Wright
He finished. Let me pull it up.
Andy Holloway
He's top five, right? I mean, he was number three or something.
Mike Wright
He was the leading passer in the league.
Andy Holloway
So here's his history.
Mike Wright
He was number three.
Andy Holloway
Three. Okay. That's his best finish ever, by the way. He finished fifth back in 2014, but he's only finished inside the top 12 at the position. That would be five out of the last 11 years.
Mike Wright
Yeah, but Big Ben's biggest problem is missing games.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
So his end of season is usually a bit lower than his actual per game that he's given you.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, yeah, that's true. And that's part of the risk. And if you mix that in with no AB and no bell, I mean, maybe they make a splash, maybe they do something else, but it's probably going to come through the draft for them.
Jason Moore
So who would you guys rather have between Big Ben and Baker?
Andy Holloway
I would take Big Ben.
Mike Wright
I think I would take Ben right now.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. He coming off a number three finish. I'm not going to.
Mike Wright
I think between. Between James Washington, Vance McDonald and then whoever else they add. James, Connor, Juju, I think that Big Ben will actually be okay.
Andy Holloway
All right, this question for fantasy. Yeah. Phil in St. Petersburg, Florida. Hey, fellas. Just purchased the UDK for the first time. Extremely excited to use it this year. I'm in a keeper league and have the option to keep Carry On Johnson.
Jason Moore
Whoa. Carry on my wayward son.
Andy Holloway
My guy for a sound. How dare you?
Jason Moore
You. You stay away from my Carry On.
Mike Wright
Johnson and Marlon Matt, when you're wearing that stupid hat, you get you.
Jason Moore
I get vanquished.
Mike Wright
All rights to players.
Andy Holloway
I quit Carry On Johnson for a seventh round pick. So you can keep Carry on for a seventh or Damian Williams at his.
Jason Moore
Adp, which right now that's going to.
Andy Holloway
Be hired in the seventh.
Mike Wright
Yes, it will be.
Andy Holloway
This is a half ppr.
Mike Wright
The that's the hard thing about this is if it's ADP at time of draft, at the time of the draft, you'll know if Damian Williams projects out to be the guy or not. And if he's projecting out to be the guy, he's going to go at least in the third round.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
So let's say Damian was the guy, though, and he's in the third round. Would you take him there over Carry on for a seventh? I mean, that's a. That gap right there is pretty tough to decipher. I think I would take Damian.
Mike Wright
I think I would take Damian still. If it's a third round, if it's up to second.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Andy Holloway
Then I'll go carry on.
Mike Wright
I'll go carry on.
Jason Moore
That's exactly what I was just about to say. And I think if he projects to be the guy, they don't really add anyone but, you know, some scratch behind him. Then I think he'll be in the second round. And at that point, I would take care. I would take care.
Mike Wright
And just for clarity, Kerryon Johnson, my guy. Damian Williams, Jason's guy.
Andy Holloway
Yeah. Yep, yep. Jason's gonna explode. He's just gonna fully.
Jason Moore
This is the best show ever. It's the worst show.
Andy Holloway
Who's the guy from the pixar movie. The were they inside the body? The anger.
Mike Wright
Anger.
Andy Holloway
I can see Jason getting mador and then the fedora goes straight up in the air. Brooks, can we spend some hard earned money and effort to get a system that will slowly just drop a fedora onto his head at certain times of the show?
Jason Moore
Episode 693. My least favorite episode.
Andy Holloway
My least favorite. Don't worry.
Mike Wright
Episode 693.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
That means big seven. Hondo.
Jason Moore
Yeah, it's coming soon.
Andy Holloway
Coming. It's coming. All right, here's a great question because I don't think we've talked a lot about it yet. We will. Chris Molina writes in from Twitter. What are your expectations for Jerick McKinnon next year? Seems like Shanahan's system has been very RB friendly, very. By the way, yeah, Colonel Mustard last year, Raheem Mostart, Jeff Wilson Jr. Name is Jeff. Both guys had success last year and you're not even mentioning Matt Burrito who looked electric in that offense. What do we think about Shanahan, Jerick McKinnon's return?
Jason Moore
I love Jerick McKinnon next year. I'm not, I'm not worried.
Andy Holloway
In fact, Devonta Freeman, Jerick McKinnon, I.
Jason Moore
Freeman, yeah, I guess I would go.
Andy Holloway
Freeman, which injured player do you want?
Jason Moore
Yeah, I know that. That's the, that's the issue.
Andy Holloway
He's like, the role is better for.
Jason Moore
Freeman and Freeman has established that he can play 16 games. I mean, this is, you know, he's done it year after year after year. He got injured once. So I'm not, I'm not too worried. This was Jerick McKinnon's first chance to be the guy. And granted, it wasn't like it was a workload he couldn't handle. This happened before the workload even started. But I do very much like Jerick McKinnon. The San Francisco system is going to be great. And because he's coming off that injury, he won't be valued even where the high expectations are. Like, he won't go. You know, people think, oh, he could accomplish being the running back 10 this year. No one's drafting him as the 10th running back off the board, even the optimist, because he's coming off that injury. So I think I'm very much going to have a lot of stock in him this season.
Andy Holloway
All right. By the way, if you wonder about the Kyle Shanahan effect, and we're going to get into coaching changes and some previews on that, listen to this. The Shanahan running backs 2015 in Atlanta, seventh most fantasy points. 2016 in Atlanta, the most. 2017 last year was San Francisco without Derek McKinnon two years ago. Yeah, sorry, two years ago, eighth most fantasy points.
Mike Wright
So that was Carlos. The Carlos.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, the Carlos height year. It generally works out for Shanahan, running back, rotations or, you know, as was the case.
Mike Wright
Well, yeah, they had the 13th most fantasy points last year despite only six rushing touchdowns. Yeah, that's bananas.
Andy Holloway
Here's we're getting a lot of Antonio Brown questions. What's the dream landing spot for Antonio Brown?
Mike Wright
Pittsburgh.
Andy Holloway
Where's the most realistic landing spot? Dream spot. Realistic spot. Let's. Let's take Pittsburgh out of your options, Mike.
Mike Wright
Okay.
Jason Moore
Which very well might be the most realistic landing spot.
Andy Holloway
Well, he's already landing there. He's already. He's already landed. He's. He's been in Pittsburgh. He's not land. He's not re. Landing in Pittsburgh.
Mike Wright
His flight is sitting on the tarmac. He's trying to get out.
Andy Holloway
But there's like assuming he takes off and he flies away from Pittsburgh. Look, there was. There was some talk this morning. I don't know if you guys saw this. The New England Patriots at the trade deadline last year, the most aggressive team trying to get Odell Beckham Jr. Is a dream landing spot for Antonio Brown. Is it going to someplace like New England?
Jason Moore
No.
Andy Holloway
Here's the different train of thought. And you guys correct me if I'm wrong, there's two possible destinations for Antonio Brown. To me, there's put them on a great team, but then he's probably not the only guy. Then there's put him on a bad team where he's 100% the guy, but you don't have as much trust. So you put him on a team like, you know, hypothetically, people might say New Orleans.
Mike Wright
Right?
Andy Holloway
Dream spot. Well, you got Michael Thomas, right? You've got two, two or three running backs that catch the football. Put him on a bad team. Right. And put them in Arizona. And you got a Josh Rosen problem. So what. What's the actual dream land? Is it. Is it Carolina with Cam Newton?
Jason Moore
It's funny, I haven't heard that. And I was literally just going to say Carolina a lot. Steve Smith back in the day, you know where you got that hybrid target. I know they brought in DJ Moore to be that, but if you have the chance to get Antonio Brown, I think Carolina would be one of those spots. We've brought up San Francisco before. That's certainly a great spot. As they don't have an established number one. And they do have what they think is a premier quarterback. My dream spot would be Arizona to trade Josh Rosa for him straight up and then draft Kyler Murray.
Andy Holloway
I actually think I have a dream spot for him. I've got my pick. It's Indianapolis. Okay, I'll take him in Indianapolis.
Jason Moore
You still have that. He's not necessarily the guy with Ty Hilton there.
Andy Holloway
The thing is, is Ty Hilton makes his mark on 60 catches. He can. He can make his mark with 60 receptions. I think the combination of great quarterback, ascending team at 10 and 6 and then the opportunity. In my opinion, he walk in and be the one. So that's where I'd go. I don't want to. If he signs in, I guess he's not going to be in the AFC North. They've already said that.
Mike Wright
Right.
Andy Holloway
He's not going to be on the Patriots. They've already said that.
Jason Moore
Oakland.
Mike Wright
And then the. The. I'll say the other interesting one. I don't know if the fit makes sense, but the Philadelphia Eagles definitely need help at the wide receiver position with. I believe Mike Wallace is a free agent.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
And I mean, look, Alshon is great, but if Antonio Brown went there.
Andy Holloway
What about San Francisco? You like him in San Francisco?
Mike Wright
I do with Garoppolo because Garoppolo is good enough and Kyle Shanahan's offense can score points, so. Not bad.
Andy Holloway
Yahoo's Matt Harmon, who's been a part of the ultimate draft kit for years now. He puts out his reception perception content. He charts each of the individual pro receivers, their strengths, their weaknesses, and rates them based on just what they're doing on the field.
Mike Wright
Yeah, this. This is inconsequential of how good your quarterback is. This is how good is the wide receiver.
Andy Holloway
16 hours ago he tweeted out, he said, been charting Antonio Brown for reception perception this weekend. It's so wild. We're even talking about a hopeful contender trading for this type of talent. He's a total wizard open all the time, a difference maker wherever he goes. Man, we could land in. But Detroit want Matthew Stafford.
Mike Wright
No.
Andy Holloway
Yeah.
Mike Wright
No.
Andy Holloway
All right.
Mike Wright
No.
Jason Moore
Yeah.
Mike Wright
Please. No, please. Please don't.
Jason Moore
I don't want it because of the offensive coordinator change, but we'll talk about that in a couple episodes.
Andy Holloway
All right. We've got time for a couple more. Where will Philip Lindsay be drafted at? This is from Brandon Hicks on YouTube.
Jason Moore
I think he'll be drafted late third.
Mike Wright
Yeah. Right around there.
Andy Holloway
Twitter Brent Curtis. Who is the better keeper for 2019 and beyond? Hunter Henry or O.J. howard. Howard.
Jason Moore
O.J. howard for sure.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, I agree. It's Howard. YouTube the classy H. Zech. Don't know how to pronounce that. What is your number one guy? Who is your number one guy for 2019 talking?
Mike Wright
Everybody. Are you talking rookies?
Andy Holloway
Hey, man, I have the question ever.
Jason Moore
It's written, who are you driving? You've got the one on one. Who are you drafting today?
Mike Wright
I mean, I want to say it's Todd Gurley right now.
Andy Holloway
I think it's Saquon.
Jason Moore
But those.
Mike Wright
Those doubts, those C.J. henderson doubts are creeping in.
Andy Holloway
I was telling the guys this morning I have Gurley in our dynasty league. There was a time at the end of November last year when I was offered David Johnson. Devonta Freeman at 2019 first, a 2019 second straight up for Gurley. And I had to say no because I was running towards the playoffs.
Mike Wright
Yeah, I mean, you were playing to win.
Andy Holloway
There's no way I could do it. Now I look at that trade and I go, man, because I look.
Jason Moore
Whoops.
Andy Holloway
It's impossible not to have doubts. You're stupid if you don't have some sort of doubt now, how much weight you give it? That's your decision on where you pick them. But you don't normally have elite MVP world beaters that all of a sudden disappear for a few games. So I think we all, as Todd Gurley fans, right, we want news to come out that he had a hangnail that was real bad or something, you know? You want to hear a reason beyond yo, I just wasn't playing good.
Mike Wright
Yeah, it's probably Barkley and then the Zeke and then Zeke is. It's close. I'm very excited to see what happens out when I. When you project the full stat line, who actually sits at number one?
Andy Holloway
All right, Fedora watch is almost over. Let's jump into another good receiver here. Pristine deal of the day. Well, we got the Dante Pettis autograph on the wall, but yesterday, yesterday on Pristine Auction, the deal of the day, DeAndre Hopkins signed. Houston Texans mini helmet. JSA witness went for $73. Whoo.
Jason Moore
He is the cleaning up.
Andy Holloway
Yeah, he's the number one right now in terms of redraft. Wide receivers, first wide receiver off the board. You can go sign up@pristineauction.com that's P R I S T I N E auction dot com. Let them know the fantasy footballers sent you. And there are about, I don't know, 2, 300 of these that go off every day. We just give you we give you one. We give you a taste. We give you one of the sprinkles on top of the sundae. You got to go to the website for the Sunday, we'll give you two.
Jason Moore
We got the Pettis jersey for 29 bucks.
Andy Holloway
Now, that was. That's illegal, and we shouldn't admit that on the show. That's not right. All right, thanks for tuning in. And on Thursday, 10 things to remember based on this last year. You don't want to miss it. Check us out on Twitter at the FF Ballers.
Mike Wright
Yeah, we'll see you next time, folk Land. Goodbye.
