B
Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers Podcast, coming to you from Draft.com Studios with your hosts, Andy Holloway, Jason Moore and Mike Wright.
A
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the podcast, the Fantasy Footballers Podcast.
B
I hear it's a good one.
A
I am the remains the carcass.
B
I genuinely, last night, I genuinely thought we're gonna have to have our first solo one man show with yours truly. Because how you are alive right now, Mike, I do not understand. I would be deceased and be missing from this table if I were in your wet boots with socks that you were in last night.
A
But I am Mike the fantasy hitman, right, joined by Jason Moore. Congratulations to everyone out there. Moving on to the championship game. A tip of the cap.
B
Thank you, Mike.
A
Congratulations to Jason. Congrats, Brooks. Thank you. I cannot wait for the week long animosity of this office.
B
Oh, I came in and gave him a stare down.
A
Nice.
B
You bet your patootie.
A
One of many to come.
B
Oh, yeah. So I'm gonna wear a. I'm gonna get a shirt printed up with Giamatti's face on it with a big circle. No and the. No, the cross out.
A
And then you asked me what my.
B
Percentage chance of winning was. And what did I say, Jason? You said, did you go 50?
A
50?
B
You bet. In all, in all fairness, looking at our rosters, I think it's 50, 50. It's going to be a battle.
A
What was not 50, 50 last night? For those. If you were following along with me on Twitter, it was a magical night. It was.
B
It was awesome.
A
It was a magical night.
B
Well, for me till about five minutes into the fourth quarter or five minutes left in the game.
A
Yeah, it was. It was very, very close. I needed incredible magic to happen. It did not. But that's. That's neither here nor there because we're talking about you. We're talking about waivers helping you win those championships. Get that hashtag foot clan title. Want to remind you about YouTube. We're on there right now what's up everybody? YouTube.com the fantasy footballers. You can follow us on Instagram, Instagram.com fantasy footballers. And of course the giveaway is still going. Just a few days left on that, I believe. Footclang giveaway.com giving away a signed Hopkins jersey, a signed Barkley jersey, signed Michael Thomas mini helmet. It's free to enter. It's free to enter. And reminder on that if you've already entered, go check it out. There is another option, another entry possibility. Let's talk about the Monday night game. That was or wasn't for some people. It was not, not an offensive game. The Saints took it home 12 to 9. Cam Newton looked like a man who was hurting.
B
He looks like a man who is about.
A
There was none of this.
B
No, he. He looks like a man who is about a week before his shoulder surgery. Yes, that is what. That's what should be happening. In my not a doctor opinion.
A
Yeah, it's hard to imagine that Cam Newton doesn't get shut down because they should. They are 6 and 8. The Panthers are 6 and 8. I don't know. I can't recall if they're technically mathematically eliminated. But when you're 6 and 8, you're going to need a miracle of all miracles.
B
When you're six and eight and you want to make the playoffs. The only situation where that ever happens is when your division sucks and someone gets in the division. But. But the Saints are the number one.
A
But the saints are 12 and two.
B
Right. So you have no shot. I think they probably are mathematically eliminated. But yeah, at this point, I mean, if you watch the game, Cam Newton, I was hopeful. In fact, the fact that it was a Monday night game because he's been dealing with the shoulder stuff the last few weeks. He's been bad. I thought that the rest, the extra day of rest would really help him to the point where he'd come out and be booty scooting Cam Newton. And every single throw was a grimace. Looked like he was trying with all of his might and throwing it short. And that's on.
A
That's what it looks like when I throw right.
B
Yes.
A
I give everything I got for that 20 yard pass.
B
I think you need shoulder surgery, Mike. They can improve you.
A
Can I get.
B
They can make you better.
A
Can I get rookie of the year shoulder surgery?
B
Oh, man.
A
Make the tendons real time.
B
That was the dream. The dream. I mean, I growing up as a basketball fanatic, I just wanted to break my legs and somehow get fixed to where I could dunk from the three point line. Oh, every play slamming, dunking over you for three.
A
Did he just say funky butt loving. What a movie. I need to watch that again. On the other side of. Well, actually, let's stick with the Panthers real quick. Christian McCaffrey, he just, he continues to dominate the volume. Fifteen carries, eight receptions, he did not score. But other than that, he was incredible. He is so safe.
B
Well, he did throw a touchdown.
A
Yes. Brooks just reminded me he threw the touchdown. So it was a great game for Christian McCaffrey, the Saints side of the ball.
B
I mean look, if you had, if you had your playoff last night, so many people they're either winning or losing based on last night. And if you had the players, then you lost more than likely if your opponent had the players, then you won because Drew Brees was epically bad for fantasy. 200 yards a pick, no touchdowns. He's not rushing the ball. That's garbage time. Alva Camara salvaged it with that touchdown.
A
Yep.
B
But otherwise you're not, you're certainly not happy with any wide receiver between Drew.
A
Brees and Cam Newton. The QBR ratings of these two guys, Drew Brees was at 28.5 and Cam Newton at 20.1.
B
So if you put them together, they had a bad game like combined added together.
A
That is correct. What's your. Let's get a temperature check here on Michael Thomas because he was absolutely sensational to start the season. But ever like we're on a quite a rough patch here with Michael Thomas. He's going to be taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers. So I mean here's his last four games. 4 for 38, 5 for 40, 11 for 98. Okay, but then back down to 7 for 49.
B
Yeah.
A
Those are not the performances you expect from a wide receiver. 1.
B
And during that stretch you've got games against Atlanta, Tampa Bay and Carolina, which juicy matches, great matchups. You're not worried about them now the Carolina want to kind of throw out in division. They know them well, you know, get, get jacked up for that game at home. But yeah, I mean you've, you've got to be a little worried. That being said, it's, it's irrelevant because you're going to start Michael Thomas every single week. He's the number one for a high powered offense. And like, like I just said, Carolina jacked up at home. They know the team well. You know, he'll get Joe Hayden this week in Pittsburgh, but I think Michael Thomas can beat Joe Hayden.
A
Anything else you want to comment on from this game.
B
Not much. I mean, I don't think you could trust any pass catcher. Not named. Not named. Christian McCaffrey for Carolina. We are starting to get all hot and bothered over DJ Moore when I get on the ones and twos over Curtis Samuel. Getting the volume with the speed, but with Cam shoulder, it's just you cannot start any Carolina Panther receiver.
A
All right, let's get into the news.
B
News and notes from around the league.
A
Running back Edo Smith, Atlanta Falcons. He will undergo knee surgery this week. He is done.
B
My understanding here is that he should be almost as productive this coming week as he has been.
A
Goodness, get bodied. You do not like Edo Smith.
B
No, because look, I was a Devonta Freeman fan, a believer. I think he would have been great. And Ito Smith got so much pub earlier. Like, oh, he's going to come in. He's going to get the work. He got the work. It was irrelevant. He stunk. Stinks.
A
Speaking of Devontae Freeman, Jay, do you want to give an update?
B
Yes.
A
There might be people out there crossing their fingers. They see Ito's out. Devonte Freeman.
B
They. They whispered, I did the same thing. I was gonna return. Ooh, wait, can't Devonta Freeman come back?
A
He can.
B
Week 15 and he can. He could come back this week, except he's not going to. He is not ready. He has not resumed practicing yet. So. And really why they clearly the Atlanta Falcons need Devonta Freeman as a dynasty owner or a keeper. Owner of Devonta Freeman. Please don't bring him back because your team needs him. He's under contract for a lot of money next year. Tevin Coleman might be gone. If it's just him and Edo Smith, then it's just him. So, yeah, I mean, no, he's not coming back this season.
A
The packers have claimed running back Capri Bibs off of waivers. This just confirms that Aaron Jones is in trouble. I can't imagine he'll be playing this week.
B
Yep. And it confirms that they got rid of Ty Montgomery earlier in the season. Yeah. Oh, whoops. Whoops.
A
Randall Cobb in the concussion protocol. Here's a big one. Sean McVeigh says that Todd Gurley is day to day with knee inflammation. We're going to be talking about John Kelly little bit later in the show. Eagles coach Doug Peterson says the Eagles are not putting Carson Wentz on the injured reserve, but Nick Foles will start.
B
In week 16 and the rest of the season. I actually, I heard some of this before, like a couple weeks ago, talking about how they might not put him on the IR and still plan to not play him just because of the. Their roster makeup. So I, I don't, I don't really understand why. But he's not going to play anymore.
A
Melvin Gordon was limited in Monday's practice. He said he is healthy enough to play this week. Believe it's a Saturday night game. And of course Anthony Lynn decided to take a lemon, cut it in half, get some wedges, and then he just sprayed them right into my eyes because he said, oh, well, if the game was Sunday, then Melvin Gordon would have played.
B
Ah, well, how would you, would your team have done better with Melvin Gordon? Yeah, a little bit.
A
Little bit.
B
How much did you need to get to the championship?
A
Two points.
B
So just a little bit little.
A
I needed a Melvin Gordon.
B
All right. I'm sorry for your loss.
A
Austin Eckler still out and not really fantasy news, but NFL news. Hunter Henry returned to charges practice. They have activated his window. We'll see if he makes the team for the playoffs. It will at least be nice to see Hunter Henry out there moving around, catching passes before we move into next year's draft season. Because Hunter Henry was one of those, those guys who was hot. He was getting, getting the hype train.
B
I fully expect Hunter Henry to be a factor in the postseason. Assuming that the Los Angeles Chargers, you know, get a round or two in. Hunter Henry should be back. It's very similar. They had a player a couple years ago that they, they did the exact same thing with, same timeline, played in the postseason after the acl. So yeah, he should be, he should be there for the playoffs. Not our playoffs, sure, but the real life ones.
A
But speaking of the NFL postseason, foot Glenn, you got to stick around for the Fantasy footballers podcast. We are year rounds.
B
We don't go nowhere. I mean, we go, I guess we go down, right? Like in January, we'll go to two shows a week. Three, if you're with us on Join the foot over@jointhefoot.com supporting the show. But they are fun. We have a ton of fun. We look at the truth of what happened, understand some stuff that makes you better as a fantasy player. And we, you know, look, we cut.
A
It up a little bit, a little bit more. If you're into Dynasty, that comes up a lot more during the off season. Always a good time. And you never know, I mean, you never know. We might do something real cool and special during the playoffs.
B
Yeah, I don't usually do. I don't know. Also, prepare yourselves. If you're listening and you're not in it well, first of all, good for you. You are smart, you are preparing for your next year's title. But if you're still in the running, you might want to just like type out hashtag footclan title. Hit the control A, the control C. Get it ready to go, get it ready to put out there on Twitter.
A
Get ready to control V, get ready.
B
Control V, that hashtag foot clan title all over the place. We want to see all the titles, post your pictures when you win it. I know a lot of people, this is really weird. A lot of people won their championship this year, like already. I don't understand the week 15.
A
They heard your how angry you get about week 17. So angry I get hulking week 17 championship week. So they said, well, we'll one up him then we're going to go to week 15.
B
We got a one week year. Week one champions are made.
A
All right, let's get into the waivers.
B
Let me in, coach.
A
All right, won't be a huge list of names this week because we're talking about one week rentals, guys that if you are hurting, perhaps you could pick up and play them.
B
And just as importantly, if your opponent is hurting, you can pick up and block them. Usually we're always telling you, tomorrow we'll tell you again, drop it like it's hot. Look at who was dropped. But this week it's more of a block it like it's hot.
A
Oh, block it like a blocker. Block, block a block, block, block, block, block.
B
So look your opponent. Maybe they've got Cam Newton and they made it through and they're in the championship. They're going to be looking for another quarterback and you're going to say, not today, enemy. They're mine.
A
Maybe they had Keenan Allen and somehow they snuck through to the championship. We do not have an update on him, but my speculation at this point is I don't expect to see Keenan Allen this weekend. How are you feeling about it, Jay?
B
No, I would be shocked if Keenan Allen is out there. I mean, we'll have an update later. I guess I shouldn't say shocked. It's so early in the week. But my expectation is he will miss this week.
A
So having said that, wide receiver pickups you can grab this week. Robert Foster, he was my rising star. Like I said, four of the past five weeks he's hit at least 94 yards. He gets to take on the New England Patriots. So let's break down. I'm going to throw out all the names, Jason. And we're just going to rank Them real quick, and then we'll. Then we'll break down some analysis. Robert Foster, Robbie Anderson, Mike Williams, and John Ross. And John Ross is in this list only because of the injury to Tyler Boyd.
B
Yeah.
A
So I'm going to throw his name because he's. I think he would be dead last for all of us.
B
You're saying John Ross would be dead last? Yeah, I think he would be last. Of those. Of those people you named, Mike Williams is certainly my.
A
He's your number one.
B
I realized that the matchup is not great. You're playing against the Baltimore Ravens. They have been unbelievable. But Mike Williams without Keenan Allen, without Hunter Henry, I mean, you've got Antonio Gates. He was the one. And the way. The way they used him, it looked from time to time like it was Keenan Allen. You'd see those Keenan Allen screen passes where they, you know, they put him out wide, they throw it to him, you know, on the left, have two blockers. Go ahead and have him circle in and just get some yak. And Mike, Mike, yak. Shout out to all the Ace Ventura lovers out there.
A
You're going to shout out to yaks? No, no.
B
The Yaks don't deserve.
A
Where my bison at?
B
Water buffaloes. But Mike Williams and I would throw Tyrell Williams into that as well. Both of those guys are very interesting to me. If Kenan Allen's out now, I realize Mike Williams, he's. He's owned in about half, about half the leagues, but goodness, if he's not, he's my clear number one. I would much rather go with Philip Rivers, probable number one target than Sam Darnolds or Josh Allen's. I mean, those guys are getting it done. But give me Philip Rivers.
A
So for Robbie Anderson, it was a great game. It was. He hit 96 yards, had a touchdown. He's getting the snaps. Finally. It was a strange year for Robbie Anderson, who looked like he was an ascending number one talent this past year and then couldn't do anything. But I think that was a little bit more related to the play of Sam Darnold. So how would. How do you look at. Between Robert Foster from Buffalo and Robbie Anderson from the Jets?
B
I would put Robbie Anderson next up on the list. We were high on Robbie Anderson this last week while you were out, Mike.
A
Right.
B
Andy talked about him a lot. We talked about him. We recommended him everywhere.
A
Gets to play Green Bay this week.
B
And he's at home against Green Bay. So I, you know, part of this was Quincy and Unwa, and I don't know you know, it's a little early to know whether or not he'll be ready for this coming week, but he has been banged up all year, missing every single practice now. He missed the last game. I think Quincy Anunois misses again. And Robbie Anderson, if he's the main target against Green Bay, I love the matchup. So he's, he's. He's neck and neck there with Mike Williams to me. So those two are a tier above. And then maybe I'm just disrespecting Robert Foster.
A
I get it.
B
Do you feel like I am?
A
No. Because I even. He's my rising star. I'm very intrigued by him. But it still feels hard to trust even though it's been. You've got a decent sample size. You're talking four games, which 25% of a season is. It's not a terrible sample size at this point, but I get it, man. It's the same reason why it was hard to play Josh Allen this past week. Of. Can you actually trust that offense to produce for fantasy? I would put Robbie Anderson above Robert Foster at this point. A couple of guys.
B
Robbie Anderson, if you're. If you're not aware. First of all, he was great last year, but this last week when Quincy was out, he had his highest snap count of the season up at like 94%. He was basically on the field every single play. He had been living in the 70s. So if Quincy's out again, really into disco. Right. You know, Afro absolutely was just cutting it up. He had that Saturday Night Fever, the huge shoes. Platform.
A
Yes.
B
I mean but that helps him, right? He's taller than the small DBs. He's got the platform cleats on which those are hard to get. Platform cleats. You do not want to be cleated by platform cleats. I'm speaking from experience.
A
Would you like to play Robbie Anderson over and rankings will be up on the website in a little bit. So. And they're just initial but this is a gut check. Robbie Anderson or Corey Davis versus Washington?
B
Corey Davis versus Washington. I don't think I can trust him. While it is the Tennessee Derek Henry's, the. The Tennessee Derek Henry's have said, look, Marcus Mariota, you've been okay, but you're not great.
A
Thanks, but no thanks.
B
Instead of having you try to win games, we're going to not do that. And that's been really. That's been winning games for Tennessee. They're on a winning streak, they're looking great. And Marcus Mariota is throwing the ball as few times as humanly possible.
A
Yes.
B
Week in and week out and winning. And winning because of the Derek Henry's. So yeah, I would lean Robbie Anderson there.
A
Robbie Anderson or Josh Gordon versus Buffalo Gordon, who's been very reliable.
B
Has he?
A
Mike has been very reliable until last week.
B
Hey, who'd you start?
A
Josh Gordon.
B
You did in this last week.
A
I did. And his one reception cost you cost me a title shot.
B
I remember you before beforehand saying, man, it's a tough decision between Gordon and Mark Ingram. Mark Ingram. And then Brooks was like, it's got to be Mark Ingram.
A
Yep. And I didn't listen and I look and then now I'm just sad.
B
I'm sorry to bring this up again.
A
I was swimming in a pool of tears. Thanks.
B
You're welcome, my good buddy.
A
So would you play Robbie over Josh Gordon?
B
If Quincy Dunma is out, then I would. I think Robbie Anderson's upside is a wide receiver. One, he's got the speed to beat guys, the height to go up over people. You know, Robbie Anderson is an extremely talented player and if he becomes the number one, like early in the season we said cut him and rightfully so because Sam Darnold was not willing to throw the ball more than five and it was, it was the Quincy Newmar Show. But the season has progressed. He's become, you know, not just this noob, first game quarterback.
A
Call him a noob.
B
I said he's no longer one.
A
Before we move on from the wide receivers, last guy I want to talk about, just a pair actually. Broncos wide receivers. Daeshun Hamilton getting them targets. 12 targets. That only turned into seven for 46. And Tim Patrick 10, five for 65 on eight targets. They get to play the Oakland. The Raiders.
B
Oh, that's good. The Raiders.
A
Who better be doing their best to lose this game.
B
Please don't, please win Oakland. Please. As a, as an Arizona Cardinals fan, I beseech you.
A
So is there any interest in Hamilton or Tim Patrick? Yes, let's say that Kenan Allen plays. Do you like Daeshun Hamilton more than.
B
Mike Williams in a full ppr? If I am projected to win and I just need solid points, then I would be okay with that. But I think the upside is still with Mike Williams because of touchdowns. Mike Williams is, you know, a double digit touchdown type of guy. Even in a difficult matchup. I would, I would rather have that now in full PPR because of the targets. You're going to have a very nice baseline with both Daeshun and Tim Patrick.
A
Before we move into the running backs. Want to thank today's sponsor, Pristine Auction. You know, Pristine Auction, the absolute best sports memorabilia web site on the known Internet. Getting deals like this. Oh, my goodness. Dante Pettis. A sign.
B
I love Dante Pettis.
A
Dante Pettis is going to be. He's going to be blazing the hype train this offseason. Yeah, he will be.
B
What did it go for?
A
Dante Pettis signed 49ers jersey, just $70. And Antonio Brown signed Steelers photo for just 51 bucks a Jordan Reed. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Jordan Reed, old floppy toes photo. I still love Jordan Reed. And someone else, someone else does because they got a signed photo of him for just $17.
B
Hey, and when the people are down, scoop up the deal.
A
Buy them low, sell them high. That's what we say. Check them out. P R I S T I n e auction.com. make that completely free account and when you do, you let them know that the fantasy footballer sent you.
B

A
Some running backs. This is where the action is at. Let's start here with Kansas City the pride of the Kansas City Chiefs, Damian Williams. Spencer Ware, who would be the presumed starting running back. He's making progress with the hamstring. He is considered day to day. We know that the Kansas City Chiefs offense is dominant. They get to play Seattle, which is. It's in Seattle.
B
It's unfortunate that it's in Seattle, yes.
A
But it's still not a terrifying matchup for running backs, especially for Kansas City Chiefs running backs. We're going to go through a couple more names obviously, but with Spencer Ware the being an unknown at this point and waivers are going to run tonight. Are you going to go in on Damian Williams or would you prefer to look at take a trip to the Bellagio, grab Kalen Bellaj rookie for the Miami Dolphins or go with the rumbling, stumbling. We got to get this in here. Jamal Williams, there he is.
B
I see him. I see him.
A
He's at the 20.
B
He's still running slower than Aaron Jones.
A
He's at the 22.
B
Aaron Jones is on all fours and winning the race.
A
He's got a spray in his.
B
Aaron Jones is now on his back scooting along faster than crab walking.
A
Look, Jamal Williams, we can make fun of him, but he got it done. 12 for 55 and a score 4 for 42 through the air.
B
Yeah.
A
So in this hypothetical situation, I got ahead of myself. Would you take the risk for Damian Williams who I think has more upside than these two guys, Caitlin Balaj and Jamal Williams, or would you go with the surefire starter that Jamal Williams looks like he's going to be.
B
I'm going to trust the offense. Now in.
A
What does that mean? Does that mean.
B
That means the folks listening at this point, this is week 16. Which offense do you trust?
A
The Kansas City Chiefs.
B
The Kansas City Chiefs or Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers? It's Pat Mahomes. I mean even in Seattle I'm going to trust Damian Williams. Now he's amazingly, he's still available in like 33% of leagues but he is mostly owned. But if he's out there, he should not be and I would be picking him up with the complete confidence that he's the full time starter. I would not be worried about Spencer where even though Spencer where could come back and you have to pivot off of Damian Williams because I think the upside there is, you know, the touchdown opportunities for Kansas City running back are going to be very high even in Seattle.
A
Okay, so the other two guys who are actually widely available, Kalen Balaj, Jamal Williams, how do you rank those two guys? Kaylin Bellaj will get the matchup against the Cody Kessler led Jacksonville Jaguars or Jamal Williams against the New York Jets.
B
So. And I wanted to circle back as quick as we could because all jokes aside on how slow and plotting Jamal Williams is by comparison to Aaron Jones, Jamal Williams is a great pickup this week as well. So it's not to. Look, we have.
A
He would be my top pickup.
B
He would be your. So even over Damian Williams?
A
No, not over Damian Williams. But of the guys who are actually widely available, he would be my top pickup.
B
Mine as well. You have to assume Aaron Jones is completely out based on the fact that they're picking up and based on the fact that it's Capri Bibs. This is going to be the Jamal Williams show. The New York jets are a middle of the pack team against running backs. I wish it was at home for Jamal Williams. I would like that far better than on the road. But look, he had basically 100 yards last week and a touchdown this week. I think Jamal Williams has a, you know, he has a. He has a very good week. And if it's someone that you must play like something happened where you don't have another option and you're deciding between Damian Williams or Jamal Williams in that situation, I. Jamal Williams is more secured. Yes. Because he's going to be the full time back this week.
A
Otherwise Caleb Bellage, he's interesting.
B
Yeah. I mean if it wasn't Jacksonville, and I know Jacksonville is kind of phoning it in right now and did you.
A
See the reports that Dolphins head coach Mr. B. Hole said Canyon Drake's limited role has nothing to do with injury.
B
Sure it doesn't, Adam. Sure it doesn't.
A
Adam Gase hates Kenyan Drake.
B
That is.
A
We are at the point where I can firmly say that he. There is a personal vendetta against Kenyon Drake for some reason that we are not privy to?
B
Yeah, I mean there's no alternative theory that would make any sense.
A
No, none at all.
B
He hates him as a man, as a person, as, as, as an employee even. No, but I do believe it's injury related. I mean, he doesn't want to go out and say, yeah, I'm worried about his shoulder, please don't hit him hard. No, he's going to go out and say he's healthy, he's fine.
A
Because guys would take that into account. Like they're not going to try and hit. Can you Drake as hard as they can, regardless.
B
That's the problem with Mr. B. Hole. He plays these games, plays these games from the backside.
A
I'm surprised that Mr. B Hole doesn't do the who's going to be the quarterback starter every week.
B
Oh, I mean, it might be Tannehill. If he could, he would. There are still NFL rules with regard to injury and what you have to, you know, make known.
A
But the only thing worse than Mr. B hole is a dirty Mr. B. Hole.
B
And he usually is, let's be honest. This is ridiculous. Now that being said, Frank Gore is done.
A
Yes.
B
Frank Gore is not going to be playing this week, rest of the season, we probably won't see him again. So with Kenyan Drake either in the doghouse or I guess we should call that the toilet, he's either in the toilet or. Or he's injured or both. Calum Balaj is interesting. He's definitely available. He's got the juice. He's got the speed to break one. I mean, when I was anti Caleb Bellaj coming into the draft, Andy was super high on Caleb Bellage, you know, and even then when I was badmouthing him, I said he'll break a couple long runs because the dude has top end speed. Weight adjusted speed is unbelievable. But what I said then over and over kind of pissed Andy off. The amount of times I said it was. He is great at running in a straight line.
A
Yes.
B
And that's basically what he did.
A
And I 100% agree with that take.
B
That's what he did. He ran in a straight line this last week and nobody could catch him. But he could do that again. I mean, Derek Henry says, what about that Jacksonville defense? So yeah, Caleb Belage this late with an injured toilet ridden Kenyon Drake and no Frank Gore. I think Kalen Balaj is. Those three guys to me are the three pickups of the week.
A
I wanted to throw out one more name before you decidedly said who the top three guys are.
B
Too bad I already did it.
A
But Elijah McGuire is not in the top three. Okay. He's available in about 70% of leagues. 18 for 42 with a score on the ground 3 for 29. Isaiah Crowell, the starter for the New York jets is on the ir. He gets to play against Green Bay at home. So you would go for the jackpot at the Bellagio over Elijah McGuire this week?
B
Yeah, I mean the volume will be there and I think McGuire is fine. I'm not anti McGuire here. I'm just pro those three guys. But Elijah McGuire was very inefficient and it wasn't the best matchup last week. But if he didn't get that touchdown, everyone would have been very disappointed with his performance. I think he was averaging like 2.3 yards of carry and did not look that great. And I don't believe a lot. I've never believed. Elijah McGuire is a very talented running back. So at home against Green Bay as the full time back, he should be owned. He's a worthy flex. But in the championship, most people have better running backs, you know what I mean? Like.
A
Well, a lot, a lot of players went down this past week.
B
Yeah, I mean a few did, but some are coming back. I mean you get Melvin Gordon back this week. So I feel like Damian Williams, Jamal Williams, those guys can crack into playoff lineups. Elijah McGuire, not so much. If he's cracking your playoff lineup, then everyone's rooting for you because you're the Cinderella of the playoffs. You don't belong there.
A
Are you picking up John Kelly, backup for the Los Angeles Rams, perceived starter? If Todd Gurley is to miss any sort of time. We know that Gurley is day to day. I would expect him to play, but you just, you never know at this point.
B
Here's a helpful tip. Every player that is not worth playing this week for you or for your opponent does not need assuming this is your championship week as it should be and you're not week 17 if you're week 17, take this advice for next week. Every player on your lineup that you know that you don't think your opponent should play or you shouldn't play does not belong on your roster. There's no reason for it other than keeper considerations if you're in that league. So don't be afraid to drop a ton of guys to pick up. You know, look, if you're going up against the girly owner, you should absolutely pick up John Kelly and drop your Randall Cobb or whoever is on your bench just as a backup player that you're not going to use because it should the knee get aggravated further this week. Yeah, I think John Kelly though I would much rather have that type of a player on my lineup than a middle tier wide receiver that you're not actually going to start this week.
A
Talk about some tight ends.
B
Oh, one other name to throw out there. Alfred Blue. Lamar Miller hurt his ankle.
A
The report on Lamar Miller though is that the Lamar that the ankle injury isn't serious.
B
Okay.
A
So I was going to talk about him less exciting but he gets the matchup in Philadelphia. Jeff Wilson also was in consideration to be talked about because Matt Burrida aggravated his ankle injury.
B
Will be back.
A
He'll probably be back. And also Chicago Jeff is playing the Chicago Bears.
B
My name is Jeff. We are stupid. Oh.
A
All right. So can we move on to the tight ends, or do you actually want to talk about the Buffalo Bills running back?
B
No, I would actually like to move on to defenses. If we can skip tight ends, I would be a happy week. Did you guys mention Smallwood?
A
Do you think he's.
B
We didn't.
A
No. Look, all right, Brooks, you're. You're right.
B
Let's talk about 12 touchdowns this past week. It's just one week.
A
I know. All right, let's talk about Wendell Small. With Josh Adams starting running back for the Philadelphia Eagles, he was forced to leave on two separate occasions, but he did come back both times.
B
And yeah, I mean, it's a monitor.
A
Wendell Smallwood would be behind Damian, Jamal, Bellage, McGuire. McGuire, probably. If Jeff Wilson is alone in the backfield, even with the matchup against Chicago, I would play him over Wendell Small.
B
If Alfred Blue is alone, I would play him over.
A
How does that make you feel, Brooks, knowing that we'd play everyone we talked about over Wendell?
B
You never know. What if said if Josh.
A
Is Wendell Smallwood on your team?
B
No, Widow Smallwood is on my team, my dynasty roster. You have Josh Adams. So if Josh Adams were to go down this week because he's dealing with injury, if he's ruled out, then Wendell Smallwood is absolutely valuable, as is Darren Sprouls. If you're in a PPR league, Darren Sprolls of Josh Adams is out. He'll be a sneaky PPR machine. That's all I'm saying.
A
He's worth an AD in some leagues.
B
As of right now, I don't see any reason that Josh Adams won't be out there. They just won. They're in the hunt. This is a get up, get out, get healthy, get in the game, Josh Adams situation. So I don't think they're resting them.
A
All right, let's talk about the tight ends real quick.
B
Don't make me do it. I mean, here's one. Evan Ingram. That's it. End of list. He's available in like 30% of leagues.
A
He's not available in your league. I get it. Evan Ingram would be the top pickup, but Antonio Gates, if Keenan Allen is going to miss the game and your love for Mike Williams.
B
Yeah, just. Do you know how many targets Antonio Gates had last week?
A
5.
B
That's right. Do you know how tired he is? Do you know how tired Antonio Gates. Thankfully, it was a Thursday night game.
A
Yeah, he's got extra rest.
B
He's got the extra time to rest up. Here's what's crazy. Antonio Gates would be the next man up. He would be next best of widely available owned or widely available unowned tight ends. I would choose Antonio Gates over Gerald Everett over Blake Jarwin and Matt Lacoste and Ian Thomas.
A
Really?
B
Don't do it, man.
A
All right.
B
I mean, so are you going to.
A
Roll into your championship week then with David and Joku?
B
Yes.
A
Versus the Bengal. Okay. Jimmy Graham.
B
No, no, no, no, no.
A
Versus the chess. So you would. Okay, let's say you had Jimmy Graham or you had Kyle Rudolph.
B
Okay.
A
Now, are you looking at the waiver wire?
B
I'm looking for Evan Ingram. Please be there. Evan Ingram. Come on.
A
Matt Lacoste, Denver Broncos tight end. He gets to play the Oakland Raiders. Who are monks, the league worst. Blake Jar, winning for the Dallas Cowboys. Gets to play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And he's come on the past two games, I believe, back to back weeks with seven targets. We're not talking about world beaters here, but you don't want. So you don't want goose eggs. You don't want that Austin Hooper 0 in your tight end position.
B
Tight ends take a while, you know, rookie tight ends don't ever. It's very, very rare for them to pop.
A
Except for Evan Ingram. And then they decided that they didn't want to use them for.
B
Well, they're like, you got too quick a head start in your rookie year. We're going to slow you down. Sophomore year, you'll be back. No, but my point is, I want guys. So you've got the Ian Thomases, Matt Lacoste, Blake Jarwin's out there starting to get more involved. I would much, much rather have the guy who has been more involved in Chris Herndon. Chris Herndon would be the next guy up against Green Bay at home. He's been involved, getting more and more involved. That's the tight end for the New York Jets. You know, that would be tough for me between him and Gates going up against the Ravens, I feel like I might go Chris Herndon over Gates. It would probably go Evan Ingram, Chris Herndon, Antonio Gates. That. That would be my list.
A
And what about new hotness Ian Thomas?
B
I can't.
A
Carolina Panthers.
B
I can't trust a Panther unless they were to replace Cam Newton. Right now. That's the way I feel. And look, if he gets healthy, figures out something good this week to help the shoulder, but it's been my understanding that the shoulder will probably be something he gets surgery on this offseason, but he can play through it. But it's not getting better, it's getting worse. And so the only thing I have to go off of is the past. And the past is a downward pointing arrow. And if it's pointing down from last night's game, that's, that's very down. That's. That's just in the turf. That's a spiked football.
A
All right, you get your wish, Jason. We're going to talk about defenses, the, the top plays, even whatever. The Patriots versus the Bills. They're not available. So let's, let's talk about teams that are actually available. The Dolphins are taking on the Jaguars. They're widely available.
B
Cody Kessler. You know what's funny is as soon as Cody Kessler started his first game as the starter, I remembered Cody Kessler from the Browns and thought to myself, he was better than I thought he was going to be. And I think maybe he'll be able to do something. Nevermind, he's Cody Kessler. That was about how long that lasted.
A
The Jaguar offense was better with Blake Bortles.
B
Dude, they need a snake, man. That's not fair what they've done to their fans. They need Blake the snake. I got a snake, man.
A
Yeah, but they're not. They threw the towel in. Oh, it's done for Blake Bortles. He will not be back.
B
What do you do? Let me asking for a friend.
A
Okay.
B
What is your hope for Blake Bortles in a dynasty league? Because he's. I started. I went into this season with a. With a three pack that I thought could. I mean, granted I'm in the championship here against Brooks, but I thought my quarterback situation was going to be a plus because I had Matt Ryan, Carson Wentz and Blake Bortles and now it's like, stay healthy, Matt Ryan. Blake Bortles future is what?
A
Wow.
B
Who can sign him as a starter?
A
Goodness.
B
I mean, you'd have to really be where desperate.
A
Where can Bortles actually get a starting job? I don't know. I know at the top of my.
B
Head that's a tough one. Anyways, I derailed us. The Dolphins against the Blake Bordelous Jaguars. Cody Kessler leading the way. Leonard Fournette looking like he's forgotten how to run. I think the Dolphins at home are a good defense, but I would rather, if I'm looking out there at the waivers, I would rather have the Tennessee Derek Henry's against the Washington Redskins. The Redskins are. We've said this for the last couple of weeks. They're on their third string quarterback who's really like a 17th string and he's been, he's been admirable for what he's had to try to do.
A
Sure.
B
But I mean this is a guy that's been out of the league for half a decade and he's playing behind a mashup offensive line with a 30100 year old Adrian Peterson running back. Like this offense, not good, can't score. Didn't the, their defense scored last week? Right. I think Washington Redskins scored a defensive touchdown or something and they still only scored like I got to look that game up. But I mean their offense is not going to put up points on the Titans. It's just not happening.
A
So Titans are only available at about 50% of leagues, but I agree that they would be of defenses available in about half of leagues. The Titans are at the top. I do really like the Dolphins against Cody Kessler. I think that's a safe matchup. The Cleveland Browns against the Bengals is also very intriguing. The Bengals are going to be without Tyler Boyd.
B
As soon as they lost Tyler Boyd this last. I mean they have, they could not move the ball. It's Joe Mixon and bust.
A
Yeah, if you can just put 10 in the box.
B
I mean the only other player they have is a top 10 drafted wide receiver in the NFL. John Ross, fastest man alive has not been good. Here's another defense I would, I would definitely play. And I know that the matchup is one that a lot of people stay away from. This is a matchup I lean into. It's the Dallas Cowboys at home against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
A
Interesting.
B
Yes. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers put up a lot of points, a lot of yards. You got to know your scoring system. But a lot of scoring systems aren't just dependent on yards. It's. It's turnovers, it's defensive touchdowns, it's sacks, it's things that Jameis Winston specializes in.
A
The Ravens were not a strong play against the Bucks.
B
I would still be willing to do it. I mean the Cowboys defense has been good. I mean, look, Andrew Luck didn't do much. I know Marlon Mack had a nice game, but that was on the road. I would be willing to play them in the championship.
A
All right, let's talk about quarterbacks.
B
Full stream ahead.
A
All right. There's really only one streaming option.
B
I mean there might need to be more for the people, but there's. I think there's a best. Right. If you're, if you're looking at the waivers and people that are still available in the majority of leagues. Somehow, some way, Josh Allen is available in the majority of fantasy football leagues. Here's how, here's how he's available. Let me read you his yards since he came back from the PI week. Passing yards, passing yards.
A
Okay.
B
160.
A
Not good.
B
231. 206. How about 204?
A
No.
B
Okay, well, at least he's thrown an average of a touchdown a game. One.
A
So one for 200. Okay.
B
Yeah. So one for 200. QB interest you in that?
A
QB 19, QB 20.
B
Right. Oh, no, no, no. He's also averaging a pick a game, so less than that, take off two points. This quarterback just, he stinks. Except over the last four weeks he's been a top five quarterback because his rushing yardage of 99, 135, 101 and 16 with three rushing touchdowns in that span and fantasy scoring being broken for the quarterback position. Josh Allen going on the road against New England. Yes, they're a great defense that schemes the best option away and Josh Allen's rushing is the best option. But Josh Allen's rushing is not a, it's not designed, it's not scripted. They're not calling him out on Lamar Jackson designed runs. They are having place break down every play and Josh Allen going, I'm more athletic than you think I am and I beat you with my legs. And all it takes is that one, literally that one play it doesn't take, you know, oh, he rushed the ball 15 times for 100 yards. He could rush the ball 10 times for 10 yards. And then once he just beats a guy that you don't expect him to beat and he takes a 60 yard jaunt and it's like he threw for 200 yards.
A
Because fantasy football since he came back, since Josh Allen came back from his injury week 12 against Jacksonville, so these four games in points per game, he is the number two quarterback overall though in just fantasy points total at the quarterback position. Number one.
B
Yeah, number one I was going to say ahead of DeSean Watson and Tom Brady. But everybody, that's what when you're the number one, name a quarterback. He is better than him since the bye week. So yeah, I mean you can stream him.
A
Goodness.
B
Now we read a lot of the bad stats that say I don't want to trust him if I've got a great option, you know, if I've got a really good quarterback. I mean what about the same matchup, right? Same game. Tom Brady on the other side of the field against Buffalo, who Are you starting in that game? Tom Brady, hall of Famer.
A
Why couldn't you start with, like, softballs of saying Drew Brees versus Pitt or Cam Newton versus Atlanta?
B
Wait, wait, wait. Drew Brees versus Pitt versus Josh Allen. Who are you playing?
A
I think I would play Josh Allen.
B
I would play Drew Brees. I know. It's a. Oh, man. That was a softball. These are all hard. When it comes to Josh Allen in your championship. Do you want. Do you want to roll with the devil? I mean, I feel like. I feel like you are playing with some dark magic to throw Josh Allen, and we're recommending that you do throw Josh Allen in. But I don't feel. I don't feel clean about it.
A
All right, so you draw the line at Drew Brees, but Cam Newton, you'd play Josh Allen over 100%.
B
Josh Allen over Cam Newton.
A
Okay, let's. Kirk Cousins versus Detroit.
B
Where are they?
A
They're at Detroit.
B
I think I would play Josh Allen. Oh, my goodness. I think I played Josh Allen.
A
Dak Prescott vs. Tampa Bay at home.
B
Oh, no.
A
And then we'll back to where we started.
B
Tom Brady.
A
Tom Brady. Touchdown, Tommy the Golden Boy, also known.
B
As the destroyer of fantasy playoffs. Historically, these are the weeks for many.
A
Years running where he has he destroyed me last week. Tom Brady or Josh Allen?
B
Josh Allen. I can't even say it. I think it's Josh Allen. I'm going to look, here's the deal. Foot clan. We are digging in deep on our rankings today. They'll be up in a couple hours. I will pay special attention to these matchups and the quarterback and where we place Josh Allen. But the point here is that the point here is Josh Allen should be on your roster even if you don't play him. Make sure your opponent doesn't have that dark magic and play Josh Allen. It's.
A
I got one. One more nasty one for you. Josh Allen or Jared Garve. Jared Garve.
B
Jared Garf.
A
Somehow you survived and you're in the title game. Are you playing Jared Goff? And I have seen Arizona.
B
I have seen people that Jared Garf that has said and they showed me screenshots that people are in the championship having gone back to back bad weeks with Jared Garf. And I could tell you I would play Jared Goff against Arizona.
A
No way. Not me.
B
Yeah, I will.
A
I'm not doing it.
B
I will. I will play Jared Goff over Josh Allen. But I guess that is where we draw the line. Where you should draw the line on your holiday shopping is to go to Omaha Steaks right now. Jason shares his excitement about the championship game, highlighting the strategic moves that led him to the final round. Mike adds humor by mentioning the upcoming office rivalry, adding a personal touch to the competitive spirit.
[03:57] Jason Moore:
"Cam Newton looked like a man who was about a week before his shoulder surgery. Yes, that is what should be happening. In my not-a-doctor opinion."
[04:16] Mike Wright:
"But the Saints are 12 and two."
The hosts dissect the Monday night game between the New Orleans Saints and the Carolina Panthers. They express concern over Cam Newton's performance, speculating on his potential shoulder surgery.
[05:18] Mike Wright:
"That's what it looks like when I throw right."
Mike humorously compares Newton's struggling throws to his own less-than-perfect passes, underscoring the quarterback's painful performance.
[06:17] Jason Moore:
"He did throw a touchdown."
Despite the overall disappointing game, Jason acknowledges Christian McCaffrey's standout performance, praising his reliability and high usage in the Panthers' offense.
Michael Thomas:
[07:14] Mike Wright:
"Michael Thomas can beat Joe Hayden."
Despite a rough patch with inconsistent performances, the hosts remain optimistic about Michael Thomas's potential to outperform his matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers' Joe Hayden.
[09:06] News and Notes:
Edo Smith (Atlanta Falcons):
[09:24] Mike Wright:
"Goodness, get bodied. You do not like Edo Smith."
Edo Smith is set for knee surgery, ending his fantasy season. The hosts lament his underperformance despite high expectations.
Devonta Freeman Update:
[10:32] Jason Moore:
"If it's just him and Edo Smith, then it's just him."
Freeman remains sidelined, with no immediate return in sight, leaving fantasy managers to seek alternatives.
Packers Claim Capri Bibs:
[10:43] Mike Wright:
"This just confirms that Aaron Jones is in trouble."
The Packers' acquisition signals potential issues for star running back Aaron Jones, hinting at limited playtime.
Carson Wentz and Randall Cobb:
[11:10] Jason Moore:
"Nick Foles will start."
The Eagles confirm Carson Wentz remains off injured reserve, promoting Nick Foles as the starter.
[14:46] Mike Wright:
"Mike Williams is certainly my number one."
The discussion shifts to Week 16 waiver pickups, focusing on wide receivers and running backs who can provide immediate value.
Recommended Wide Receivers:
Robert Foster:
[16:46] Jason Moore:
"Robbie Anderson next up on the list."
Consistent yardage against favorable matchups.
Robbie Anderson:
[18:19] Mike Wright:
"He has the platform cleats on which those are hard to get."
Leveraging his increased snaps and strong matchup against Green Bay.
Mike Williams:
[17:00] Jason Moore:
"Mike Williams without Keenan Allen, without Hunter Henry... clear number one."
Despite a tough matchup against the Ravens, Williams's touchdown upside makes him a top pick.
Recommended Running Backs:
Damian Williams (Kansas City Chiefs):
[28:00] Jason Moore:
"I would be picking him up with complete confidence."
Trusting the Chiefs' dominant offense for high touchdown potential.
Jamal Williams (New York Jets):
[30:05] Mike Wright:
"Jamal Williams is a great pickup this week as well."
Secured as the full-time back, offering consistent performance.
Kalen Bellaj (Miami Dolphins):
[33:40] Jason Moore:
"Caleb Bellaj is... those three guys are the three pickups of the week."
Utilizing his speed and favorable matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
[47:04] Jason Moore:
"Josh Allen should be on your roster even if you don't play him."
The hosts tackle the quarterback streaming strategy, highlighting Josh Allen as a valuable option despite mixed statistics.
[49:15] Mike Wright:
"Since the bye week... number one."
Josh Allen ranks as a top quarterback option in fantasy, thanks to his rushing yards and touchdown capabilities.
However, they caution against relying solely on Allen's volatility, comparing him to more stable options like Drew Brees, though ultimately favoring Allen for his high ceiling.
[51:05] Mike Wright:
"I would play Jared Goff over Josh Allen."
Jason introduces some skepticism about Allen's consistency, suggesting Jared Goff as an alternative despite Allen's overall higher ranking.
The debate underscores the importance of balancing high-risk, high-reward quarterbacks with more stable options in championship matchups.
[42:56] Jason Moore:
"Titans are at the top. I do really like the Dolphins against Cody Kessler."
The conversation transitions to defensive streaming, with recommendations tailored to Week 16 matchups.
[43:18] Mike Wright:
"The Dolphins at home against Cody Kessler. A safe matchup."
The Dolphins' defense is favored against the struggling Jaguars, offering solid fantasy points through turnovers and sacks.
[45:56] Jason Moore:
"Titans vs. Washington Redskins is favorable."
The Titans' defense benefits from a weak Redskins offense, making them a prime defensive streaming option.
Additionally, the Dallas Cowboys defense is recommended against the Buccaneers, thanks to their ability to accumulate points through defensive touchdowns and sacks.
[39:12] Jason Moore:
"Evan Ingram would be the top pickup."
While tight ends typically see less movement, the hosts emphasize the value of available options like Evan Ingram, who offers potential touchdowns and consistent targets.
[40:07] Jason Moore:
"I would choose Evan Ingram, Chris Herndon, Antonio Gates."
Ingram tops the list, followed by Herndon and the veteran Antonio Gates, who remains a reliable option despite limited recent targets.
They caution against low-tier tight ends like Matt Lacoste and Blake Jarwin, recommending focusing on high-upside or consistent performers instead.
As the podcast wraps up, the hosts reiterate the importance of strategic waiver pickups and thoughtful quarterback streaming to maximize points in the championship week. They encourage listeners to participate in giveaways and engage with their community online for continued support and insights.
[51:40] Jason Moore:
"Josh Allen should be on your roster even if you don't play him."
The episode concludes with a strong endorsement of Josh Allen's value, positioning him as a must-have for fantasy managers aiming for the championship.
Mike Wright [02:00]:
“Congratulations to Jason. Congrats, Brooks. Thank you. I cannot wait for the week-long animosity of this office.”
Jason Moore [03:57]:
“Cam Newton looked like a man who was about a week before his shoulder surgery.”
Mike Wright [07:14]:
“Michael Thomas can beat Joe Hayden.”
Jason Moore [14:46]:
“Mike Williams is certainly my number one.”
Jason Moore [30:05]:
“Jamal Williams is a great pickup this week as well.”
Jason Moore [47:04]:
