Park it right here, everybody. It's time for the tailgate. It's me, Joey P, Joe P. Zappia. With me today, DBRO Derrick Brown, the king of bros and big pot energy, Andrew Erickson. We are here to talk about the NFL draft. Now that free agency is over and done with, pretty much, we can start to get a much better picture of what some teams are going to do in the first round. And we're going to have a little mock draft action. Fun, relaxed, hanging out, talking ball. That's what we do here on the channel. So if you like that kind of thing, well, watch this video and subscribe to the channel. Because when you do, you could also get yourself some free stuff, like our recent giveaway, the Saquon Barkley signed Eagles jersey. So how do you win this from pristineauction.com I'll tell you all you got to do. Subscribe to the channel of the tailgate. Drop your comments below. And that's it. That's all you got to do. Two things. That's unbelievable. And you get free stuff. Cool. Free stuff, too. Nice Saquam Barkley jersey. Go Birds. And of course, don't forget to ring the bell till it goes ding. So you never miss a piece of content on the channel. And of course, we can let you know if you're the big winner of the Saquon Barkley jersey. All right, some great stuff been going on the channel recently. If you missed it, go back and watch. We had a show with Laquan Jones from NFL Network. We had a show with Jake Seeley from the Athletic. We've had a show with Trevor Sigma from pff. And now it's just the three of us hanging out. Talk a little football, talk a little NFL draft. And I got a recommendation for all of you out there, too. If you got some time on your hands. You don't like the NCAA tournament? Raise the flags. The prime video series about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It's like nine parts. Like, I couldn't believe they could do Nine parts in the Buccaneers, to be honest with you. But I was enthralled by it. It was excellent. As a little bit of a football historian myself, I love 70s 80s football, so. So all those stories were amazing and fantastic, from the Tangerine Years all the way to Tom Brady. Some good stuff. I highly recommend the Raise the Flags documentary series. It's excellent. And it was funny because they said in a way that Tom Brady was responsible for both of their championships, guys, because Brady not only won them the championship, but the Tuck rule game is what really got the end of. Jon Gruden with the Raiders, ended up with the Bucks the next year, falling out with Al Davis and they got their championship. So really, he was kind of one directly and one indirectly responsible for all those championships in Tampa. That was kind of fun. And the Mike Evans love was just extraordinary. Andrew, how are you doing with Mike Evans not being a buccaneer anymore? It's still weird for me. I don't like it.
B
Yeah, I mean, he's not the first wide receiver to play his entire career with one team and then leave for hopefully greener pastures. I mean, he's decided, hey, I don't want to play Big Mayfield anymore. Mayfield was not good last year. Know that he was dealing with a lot of injuries, but hey, catching touchdown passes from Brock Purdy in California could be worse.
C
Well, I don't know if the greener pastures, they might be magnetic pastures. I'm not sure. Dbro, did you see that George Kittle interview where he was talking about the trees? Did you see this if you missed?
A
Oh, no, I didn't see that. I saw the IUK stuff.
C
Okay, so the thing that George Kittle says, I just want to know. He's like, look, conspiracy theories are funny, he said, but I always like to know, like, somebody should go out there and really do a study and let us know for sure if it's a bad thing or not. Because he said the one thing that I know when I was a rookie, there used to to be trees over there. And he said all year round there was never leaves on any of those trees all year round. And then two years ago, the NFL took the trees down completely. And he thought that was kind of weird that there was that. So I'm just saying the leaves on the trees, no tendons inside the ankles and the. And the knees of people. Just putting it out there. D Ro, what do you think?
A
And next there's going to be crop circles over there around the mf. It's, it's, you know, we're going to go down a rabbit.
C
Dogs and cats living together has hysteria.
A
All right, we'll fly.
C
Let's get to the first overall pick. Nothing has changed here for the Raiders. I think we can all agree Fernando Mendoza to the Raiders still looks like the lock dbro in the off season. How do you feel now about what the Raiders did in free agency for this pick?
B
Good.
A
I mean, they got. They got one heck of an addition in Max Crosby, so the defense should be pretty good. The offensive line, I mean, if we get SpongeBob SquarePants back, Jackson, Paris Johnson, the offensive line should be better than what they were last year. And Chip Kelly's not coordinating this non offense.
C
If we.
A
I mean, if everybody be kind of rewind all the stuff that came out when Chip Kelly was let go. So, yeah, I think the Raiders are going to look like a competent franchise now with an offense run by Fernando Mendoza.
C
And you bring in a real center like Linderbaum too, Andrew. I mean, that certainly helps the Fernando Mendoza. Day one. You know, you got your guy in there. He was their big target. They brought him in so that it definitely like what they're doing so far. Would you agree with the Raiders off season being more of a positive for Mendoza hitting the ground running in Las Vegas?
B
Well, I mean, is he gonna hit the ground running? Because I keep hearing that they want to bring in Kirk Cousins to be the bridge quarterback. So Clint Kubiak has talked about, hey, I don't want to start a rookie quarterback. Tom Brady, he didn't start as a rookie. So I mean, I'm not going to be surprised when they do sign a veteran guy like a Kirk Cousins and maybe he starts one. So just something to keep in mind,
A
Kirk wanted to do that. Like, why would Kirk step into a situation where he's going to get panicked again? Like for me, I think money.
C
I was gonna say money. Money.
A
Got plenty of money. Dude, he's new. Sam Bradford. Money ain't a problem.
B
He's a mercenary. He's gone and gotten the bag from multiple teams, including the Atlanta Falcons.
C
Yeah, he's got a bunch of kids, too. He's got a bunch of plaid shirts to pay for. There's a lot going on with Kirk Cousins there.
A
He's on the Philip Rivers track. Slowly.
C
All right, let's take a look at number two here, the Jets. The jets continue to turn over this roster and we'll see if they could see it to fruition. Now, they got a couple picks here in the first round, so let's talk about number two here, Debro, we're still going Arvell Reese for the jets, right? Just kind of makes sense.
A
Yeah, I mean there's so many different ways the jets because now they kind of walk into this outside of quarterback, they've plugged a lot of different holes and like they really could just go bpa. Like I wouldn't rule them out being we didn't go this direction, but I wouldn't rule them out being a Caleb Downs team as well. Arvo Reese, I think he just makes a ton of sense. It's the high upside swing that you take in this draft. Like eight sacks, 119 pass rush snaps last year. Like yes, they got Will McDonald, yes, they got Joseph aside. But like those guys are not going to preclude you from taking somebody like an Arville Reese. If anything, they honestly make the case a little bit better because now you don't have to shove him into like an every down role and he could just be a chess piece for your defense.
C
Next up at number three is the Arizona Cardinals. Now Andrew, we had talked about maybe Jeremiah Love here to the Cardinals, but did Tyler Algier, did that signing kill that potentially? I know that sounds like a weird thing to say. They got so many running backs there, I can't imagine him going with another one. Even though Love would far and away be the best one they would have. So where do the Cardinals go here with this pick?
B
I try not to speak in absolutes when it comes to the NFL draft because the minute that you start saying there's no way this could possibly happen, well, that's exactly what's going to happen. So I do think that Jeremiah Live could still be the pick here. That's not the direction I went because I think that the Arizona Cardinals have a glaring need at their offensive tackle, specifically get the right tackles position. So Monty Austin Fort two things that he's done during his tenure with the Arizona Cardinals as gm, he drafts guys from Ohio State and he drafts premium positions. So I'm very torn here because there's so many Ohio State defensive players, but none of them except for Reese are playing that premium position. So I went with the offensive tackle again. When they drafted Paris Johnson Jr. It wasn't really till late in the process that everybody kind of caught on to, oh wait, they're just going to draft the highest ranked tackle here. They're not actually going to draft a defensive player. So Francis Maminoa, Miami starting right tackle makes a lot of sense playing opposite of Paris Johnson Jr. Again, they have A huge, huge hole at that right tackle spot even after free agency. So yeah, they continue to pound away at the premium positions.
C
All right, so let's speak in absolutes. If Jeremiah Love falls to four, is it absolutely sure that the Tennessee Titans can't pass on him? I mean, you're getting a defensive minded coach here with Robert Sala. You're getting a team that made some moves. They brought in Brian Dabel now to be the offensive coordinator. Wandell Robinson, they, they pulled a rece receiver there and I'm sure that's still wide receiver room in progress. Calvin Ridley did restructure, so we assume he's coming back. What kind of focus level we get from him, that's to be determined. But is it Jeremiah Love or do we go defense here with the defensive coach? It's a big question. I think either way, love or defensive pick helps the Robert Sala philosophy. That's my take anyway. D bro, what's yours?
A
I'm going Jeremiah Love here, running back from Notre Dame. And people could say, well, they already have Tony Pollard, dude, they could cut Tony Pollard. He is the domino that I think is yet to fall where a team like Seattle could just be waiting for him to hit the market. Whether it's trade or they can cut him and save $7 million against the cap. So I, for me, I honestly think Tennessee right now, considering their offseason moves and how much they've restructured the defense, could they go defense maybe? I honestly think this pick is between. Which weapon do they think can help Cam Ward the most? I think this pick is between Jeremiah Love and Cornell Tate personally. So I'm going to go with Love because again, non premium position, but he's still one of the best players in this draft.
C
I think it's Love too. I think it, I think it helps them the most. I really do. I think when you have a run game in a balanced office and you can play defense a little bit, you're giving your quarterback a chance. You're giving him shorter third downs, you're giving him opportunities where the chains get moving. You're just, you're making life easier for him because you're keeping the opposing defense honest. So for me, I actually think Jeremiah Love is absolutely the pick here for the Tennessee Titans if he's still on the board. And I think Robert Sala will be happy to run the football, play defense and let his young quarterback grow at his own pace as opposed to the light speed that everybody anticipates everybody having to do at the NFL level. At this stage, which is obviously not working out for everybody. Next up here at number five, well, we've got the New York Football Giants, Andrew Erickson, who's the best player on the board for them.
B
Here at number five, it's Caleb Downs, safety from Ohio State, who John Harbaugh has already talked about that this guy has the potential to be a Hall of Fame safety. So I don't want to overthink it here. The Giants defense needs to improve tenfold across the board. Second worst against the run in 2025. And although they don't really need a safety on paper, I think they just want the defense to be so much better than it was last year. And Harbaugh has history of valuing the safety position a little bit more than some of these other regimes. Although I wouldn't be surprised if they went in the wide receiver direction here either because Harbaugh's also drafted a bunch of wide receivers in the first round. Shaw Bateman, Zay Flowers, Marquis Brown. So I am kind of torn between wide receiver and safety here, but I think Caleb Downs, just based on the talent, I think that Harbaugh's not going to let him fall past five, especially if Jeremiah Love is already off the board. So I like Downs here. Again, look at some of the betting stuff. Almost three to one to be the fifth overall pick. So that's something I've been looking at
C
a little bit more.
B
I mean, Jeremiah Love is minus 135 to be drafted by the Titans. Are you guys guys betting that? Is that how confident you feel?
A
I'll say this, if he doesn't go to Tennessee, I think he's going to the Giants. I don't think that Jeremiah Love gets outside the top five. I'll say that I'm not confidently going to bet Jeremiah Love to the Titans. I will confidently bet if I can find it out there, Jeremiah Love to go inside of the top five.
C
I can see the Giants trading out of that too. To be honest, if if Love is there at 5 and somebody really wants him, I could see them entertaining offers to move back a couple picks. I could see that also happening. And look, let's not forget too this the safety pick that you're making here, Andrew. I mean they took Kyle Hamilton the first round a couple years ago, right? This is, you know, they know what the Harbaugh knows, what he wants, how he wants to run this football team and take a Caleb Downs here would not be shocking at all. Cleveland Browns it would be shocking if they were good for once Dbro, how can we get them good with the 6th overall pick?
A
Well, this isn't going to get them good, but this can definitely help their offensive line. I mean, we haven't had an entire offensive line remake this off season so far, guys. And honestly, I've been impressed with what they did. I mean, walking into this off season where it was like they do not have a starter on the offensive line. They go out, they trade for Titus Howard, they sign Zion Johnson, they signed Elgin Jenkins, they signed Tevin Jenkins. So really, the only thing they're missing is a cornerstone left tackle, and I'm going to give it to him. Monroe Freeling, offensive tackle out of Georgia. Come on down. He actually has experience at both tackle spots at Georgia. So whether you wanted to play Titus Howard at left tackle, Freeling at right, you have the option to do that. And it just makes a ton of sense. And after this offseason, a player that was early in the process getting mocked like the low first round, maybe he slipped at the second round. I mean, his stock has just been improving throughout the entirety of the off season.
C
Next up, the Washington Commanders, who were very busy on defense. They brought an edge rusher away. Leo Chanel came over there as well, the linebacker. They brought a corner in. Chase on came there, too. So I know they went for tight end. I know they want Rashad White. I know they got Chiga Conquo there, too. But I feel like, you know, they're certainly saying, hey, we got to get better on the defensive side of the football. So they continue to do that here in this seventh pick. Andrew.
B
Yes. They get Sonny Stiles, linebacker from Ohio State. Adam Peters comes from the 49ers. Well, he gets his version of Fred Warner here in the nation's capital at the linebacker position. So, I mean, last year, Bobby Wagner was racking up all the tackles on this defense, and he's 37 years old again, not sure if people have seen the Netflix documentary about the dinosaurs. He is a fossil. Okay? So you got to move on from these fossils eventually at some point and get some youth into the defense. So I like Sonny Styles here, and I think Styles, too. It's possible that he could still go to the Tennessee Titans. So I know we were talking about a little bit about Jeremiah Love and some of his betting odds. So, Debro, if you want to lay -650, that's Jeremiah Love to be a top five pick, I don't think that that's very fun. Wow. No, but.
A
But I didn't think it was it was steam like that.
B
That's where it's at. So everyone is kind of agreeing with you. Yeah, it's Titans, it's Giants or Bust for Jeremiah Love. Like, I mean it's crazy to think that we all thought, oh yeah, like the commanders could draft Jeremiah Love or like the Saints of the Chiefs. It's like, yeah, no, it was seven.
C
It wasn't that absurd at the time. Seven, nine.
B
How quickly things can really change and shift. Similar to Monroe Freeland, the tackle from Georgia, he's tied with the Miami tackle as the first offensive lineman off the board. So it's pretty interesting some of the way that some of these lines have moved. Clearly I've been in the betting streets. Obviously March Madness is happening right now.
C
So yeah, which well, honestly is a perfect time to mention the sponsor of our show, Hard Rock BET Florida Sportsbook. It's tourney time, as Andrew said. See website for full terms and conditions. All right, next up here, the New Orleans Saints at 8, which feels like DBro. They can just have a luxury pick here. That's how I feel. Travis Hn as I'm getting used to saying it, even though I've railed against it, I'm trying my best not to be a jerk in 2026. It's not going to work. I'm still going to be a jerk, but it feels like this can be whatever they want. It could be the best player available. It could be an offensive piece if they want. They can go wide receiver and start the run if they want to do that. Some of the premium defensive guys are off the board. So where do the Saints go if this is the way the board falls in the first seven?
A
We talked earlier about helping out a young quarterback. The New Orleans Saints have already done that bringing in an answer for the run game and I think they continue to add more weapons for Tower Shuck. Let's get Add Carnot, wide receiver at Ohio State. My clear wide receiver, one of this class. He's freaking fantastic. This also gives you not saying leverage but the out if say anything goes awry. Chris Olave is not there long term. Tate's fantastic. He's a good fit with Alave and he's a wonderful addition to this passing attack.
C
All right, the Chiefs are continuing to reshape their roster. They have the ninth pick overall in the offseason. We know they added Ken Walker. We know they resigned Travis Kelce. They dealt away Trent McDuffie. So again they're work in progress like they're trying to figure out what they're going to be. And Justin Fields could be the starter of week one. Isn't that fun little narrative there? Look at that Kansas City Chiefs Justin Fields. Oh my God. If he's good for the month of a Season working with Andy Reid, that's going to be hilarious. I'm here for it. I'm the loki of football. I love chaos. I'm going to enjoy that. So Andrew Erickson, let's talk about the Chiefs here. Do they go on the offensive side of the football or the defensive side of the football?
B
At this pick they are running up to the podium with this card for David Bailey, edge rusher out of Texas Tech. I mean he could go number two overall and I don't think anybody would be too surprised by that. So him to fall all the way to ninth here. The Chiefs are in a position where they don't ever want to pick in the top 10 ever again. So if they can land a premier player at a premium position like David Belly linchpin to that edge rush where last year they could, the, the pass rush was non existent in the second half. Whenever the Chiefs needed to get a sack, they didn't get anything close to a sack or pressure on the opposing quarterback. So that really hurt their defense. Again, the talk out of Kansas City has been hey, we need to get a big bodied pass rusher. So although the betting odds are suggesting they're going to go offensive line early, I think if you see a player like Bailey or Ruben Bane fall to number nine overall, I don't think that they would pass on a player of that caliber based on the way this edge class is kind of set up with a tier one and I think a tier off of after Bailey and bang come off the board. So they go with the Texas Tech edge rusher.
C
Let's do fun facts here. Did any chief have double digit sacks last year? Boys, yes or no?
B
Say no.
C
No, that's correct. No, that's correct. The most was Chris Jones with seven. Carloftis had six. And then Drew Tranquil, Jaylen Watson, Ashton Gillette and Michael Dana and Leo Chanel all had two. So getting to the quarterback, not great last year for the Kansas City Chiefs. I like this pick. I think it works. All right, next up is the Cincinnati Bengals with the 10th overall pick here. So Debro certainly they could use some help on the edge. They could also always use some help on the line. Joe Burrow would love that. He's been a busy boy this off season too. Dayton all around. I go for it. Joe Burrow, with that offensive line that you've had to play for, you might as well live your best life here. You know, just. Just do it all. Do it all, my friend. You ever did an influencer dbro in your younger Days? No, No. I bet Andrew's dated an influencer.
B
Influencer?
A
That didn't be like a plus 2000 question to come.
C
Andrew, you're a younger guy. Would you have dated an influencer ever? Andrew, could you have had, like, you know, would you be the Instagram boyfriend holding the. The phone? He's almost a little bit too old
A
for the influencer age.
B
I mean, influencer, technically, is anybody.
A
I mean.
B
I mean, I don't know.
A
Have you aged out of that, or are you still young enough to pull it off? Andrew?
C
I think he's young enough to pull it off. But what. Seriously, would you be able to do that, or is that not for you? Like that lifestyle? You know, you get to travel a lot and do stuff, but you got to hold the phone, take all the pictures and the videos, comments on your girlfriend.
B
A lot of drama. It does something I tend to try to avoid when it comes to relationships. So that's good, though.
C
That's good.
A
I mean, my bigger question is, when you walk into the restaurant and you take all the pictures of the food and stuff, do you stay and eat the food or they just walk out?
C
I. I stay and eat the food because I'm Italian, so I'm always saying, eat the food.
A
That's fair.
C
That's fair.
A
You could have a second life as an Italian restaurant influencer.
C
Joe. That's my retirement.
A
That would work out well.
C
My retirement plan, let me tell you. You know, there's that old guy, but
A
chicken parm, plates and cutlets for everybody.
C
Forget his name. I think it's Pasquale. So I don't know what is it, but he is like an old Italian man in his kitchen. He just cooks all day and he's got the accent, he's got the thing, and he just. He's got like. You got, like, millions of followers. That's gots me. That's my retirement plan. And he drinks. He. I'm a drink of wine, and then I'm going to make a chicken parmigiano for you and that. And that's what he does.
A
So basically, you're Stanley Tucci 2.0, please.
C
I want to be Stanley 1.0. But I digress. Cincinnati Bengals, what do they do with this pick?
A
They go edge here, man. They stopped the fall for Reuben Bain Jr. I don't care if he's got T. Rex arms or not. Duke could get after the quarterback, and I know they signed Boy Mafe and Jonathan Allen. Miles Murphy has not been what they hoped for since they drafted him. So Having Miles Murphy on this roster does not preclude you from taking Reuben Bain Jr.
C
I would love for one of these smart asses who keeps talking about his short arms to say it to his face. That's what I want.
A
I would love that. Wrestle him.
C
Say it to his face. You know, here's. I heard somebody say this on NFL Network radio. I was driving around yesterday and I thought it was a good point. I, I, it was on Solomon Wolcott show, but I forget who the co host was because I think they rotate around and Solomon's fantast does great work. But what he said was the guy was on there, he said Reuben Bain is probably not a Hall of Fame guy, but he's probably a Ring of Fame guy. Where you could see him being a guy that plays 10 years, has a great career. If they win, you know, you, you put him in the, you know, you retire his number someday. Kind of guy like that kind of talent, but not necessarily a Hall of Fame talent. I feel like that's true for a bunch of people in this class. Like, I don't think there's a lot of gold jacket guys in this class necessarily, but there's a lot of guys that I think if, if things break right, we're talking Ring of Fame kind of guys. And I think those are still very useful pieces for sure. The Miami Dolphins certainly have had an overhaul these last few weeks, so they don't have many wide receivers left. I don't know if you want to go wide receiver this big, Andrew, or do you want to try to beef up the offensive line and hope that you can keep Molik Willis upright here for the entire season?
B
I mean, are they really focused on trying to keep them upright or are they just, hey, we want to get the highest pick for our quarterback to be named later in 2027. Who's the best?
C
Who's the best off of lineman for the run? That's, that's, that's, that's, and that's where
B
I'm going with Spencer Fano, offensive tackle from Utah there. He can play anywhere on the offensive line. So they can put him at center, they can put him at guard, they put him at right tackle. It doesn't matter. Because what the Dolphins are doing this off season is telling us we want to run the ball on first down, second down, third down, fourth down, on every single down that we can. We don't want to throw. So eventually, yeah, I think they will add a wide receiver at some point. It's not going to be Jalen Toburn, Tutu Atwell. But the fact that they decided to move on from Jalen Waddle sign Malik Willis a running quarterback. Honestly I was actually looking at their coaching staff. You know who their quarterbacks coach coached in college.
C
You do?
B
Taylor Green. So you're going to see a Malik Willis, Taylor Green type of backfield coup quarterbacks that can just run up the field with their legs. So I think it's build from the inside out, power up this offensive line so that when they finish first, second or third overall next year, unfortunately from Lake Willis, he'll be the bridge quarterback for a 2027 rookie quarterback that Miami will likely draft with a top five top three pick. So I think they're just going to build up the offensive line.
A
All right.
C
Last year dbro, you could throw in the Cowboys all day long. Like they got to get a cover corner here, right? Like this has got to be priority number one for the Cowboys easily.
A
And I think he can go as high as going ninth overall to the Kansas City Chiefs. Men are Delane, come on down.
C
Dude.
A
He is, I don't even think it's arguable the best cornerback in this draft. You bringing him into the fold for Dallas also allows him to move Duron Bland back into the nickel position. So him and Rebel on the outside, I think it be a fantastic tandem.
C
Now the Rams are another team too. They, they need a corner. They got corner right? So at 13 they have a luxury pick here. Erickson, what do they do here at 13?
B
Yeah, it's really between wide receiver and offensive tackle for me having Stein retired this off season. However, it seems like they're pretty high on Warren McClen, Brendan, the guy who filled in last year. So there have been talks about extending him. So if that's the case then I think it's hey, who's a plug and play wide receiver that we can just drop in to catch touchdowns from? Matthew Stafford. And given look at the top two wide receivers on their team, Devonte Adams is no spring chicken. He's not young, he got banged up last year and Pukinakua, we know how he plays. He's constantly in the blue medical tent. Right. So I think that yes, offensive line potentially is a need here with tackle but I think that adding more wide receivers, even though they'd love to use the multi tight end sets, I think if a player like Makai Lemon is here on the board, they just say again, thank you one last time to the Atlanta Falcons for sending us this first round pick from last year in The James Pierce trade, which at the time I think we all hated. And now we're just like. It's just one of those things where I get. We do the draft grades, but sometimes, process wise, it just felt like that trade was just such an aggressive move for a particular player that again, even though he had a strong rookie year, just so many other things that had to be considered. And it just, again, doesn't seem like it's going to work out except here for the Rams. So they go with Makai Lemon, wide receiver from usc.
C
Where's Devonte Adams in all this? Is he a Ram next year? Is he somewhere else?
B
Well, he's in last year of his contract, so I think that he's probably gone.
C
Okay. I would just do what you think he's gone this year, like. Or you think he plays out his contract?
A
No, no, no, no.
B
After. Yeah, he plays out his contract and then he'll.
C
Because there's been some trade rumors swirling around with him too, like some. Some spots. So that's interesting to keep an eye on number 14. Baltimore Ravens are up next year. Debro, where the Ravens go with this pick?
A
I think the Ravens are kind of tipping their hands here, boys. In the news yesterday, David and Joku was brought in for a visit to Baltimore. So if he doesn't land in Baltimore, Kenyon Sadiq, baby, give him to the Baltimore Ravens, man. We know Declan Doyle is going to use a good bit of 12 personnel. Chicago last year, six most 12 personnel, almost 33% of their offensive snaps. Andrews is not getting any younger. Yes, they need pass catcher, but they don't have to go wide receiver to solve that problem. Sadiq is also going to help out in the run game with his blocking.
C
Apparently the Denver Broncos were kicking the tires on Njoku too, which I kind of like that also.
B
What do you think the odds are for Ravens to draft Kenyan Sadiq?
A
Oh, geez, dude. It's probably plus 850.
C
Yeah, I think that's in that range. Plus 900.
A
I don't think it's. It's close to being a favorite.
B
Being a favorite.
C
Plus 1200 from your reaction.
B
Plus 750.
C
Okay. Oh, okay.
B
Reading the room.
C
Okay. Look at you. So proud. So proud. All right.
A
I would have loved to have seen that line before. Came in for a visit, too. Oh, man, I would love to see it.
B
750 still pretty good.
C
Yeah. So pretty good. No else is pretty good. Paying Mark Andrews all that money, too, for another couple years. That was brilliant. That was great. Great job, right? Yeah.
A
Way to go, Eric DaCosta. You're awesome, man. Stand up, GM. Nobody should question anything you do as far as player personnel and moves. All I could just so is that Kenyon City does pass his physical.
C
Yeah, they're definitely helping. All right, number 15 here, Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Erickson, you're up on the clock.
B
I think that they need an edge rusher and the betting markets agree +110 for them to draft an edge rusher with their first pick. So they go with Akeem Mezador, edge rusher from Miami. Jason Light has been talking about at the NFL combine. Anytime that there's a microphone in front of him. That in order for us to take the next step, we have to get more pressure on the quarterback. They did add some pass rushers, Muhammad Robinson and to one year deals during free agency. But again, they're one year deals. So I don't think it's going to physically or like so impact what they do in the NFL draft where they need to get more pressure on the quarterback.
A
Are they minus 400 to take a linebacker? Erickson.
B
What? The Buccaneers?
C
Yeah.
A
Because they've been trying to solve that
B
problem for like the last Anzalone. So I think. I think they're fine.
A
Yeah, yeah.
C
Answer only gets after. Man, he's, you know, fantastic. Hair too.
A
Well, he's not 35. He's got the Fabio. He's pretty okay. Don't have hair envy, Andrew.
C
He's a high motor guy. I like Anzalone. I think that that's a good play. Look, Tampa is going to be. Tampa is all about Baker Mayfield staying healthy. Hell, he was not. He got hurt in the sixth game of the season. I think it was last year. Yeah. And everything just fell apart after that. It just did. Like, it's just he was not the same. You could tell he wasn't healthy. And there were some other injuries around him too that did not help. So it was a bad situation. If the Bucks are healthy, the Bucks are right back in the top of this division, I think going forward. So we'll see how it plays up. Maybe it's just because I watched that documentary last night. So I'm all team Bucks right now. I just can't get up with the Buccaneers that. That Tangerine pirate. Well, the Saints are still fun, but I think the Saints are still outside looking in. But I'd like to see a little
A
bit plus 400 plus 400 take the division.
C
Just saying.
B
I mean, when you look at the needs of the teams, I mean, we just talked about it when you were doing the Saints pick kind of in a luxury position, they are because the roster feels pretty filled out. As long as. As long as Shuck can continue to develop in Kellen Moore's offense. Again, he's an older quarterback, so I do question what the pure ceiling is with Shock, but if he has a Bo Nix type season. Well, the Broncos were very, very close to going to the super bowl last year, and they had a chance that Bonix didn't get injured.
C
The leadership of Mike Evans being gone from that locker room is enormous. I can't tell you at the end of that show, every episode, they would ask somebody who's the greatest buccaneer of all time. And a lot of the modern day guys, of course, because they're modern day guys, they don't have much of a history with it. They would say Mike Evans. And then the reasons why as they talk about Mike Evans too. And even when Tom Brady was talking about Mike Evans, he is that otherworldly kind of leader guy, you know, the one who goes out there every single year, puts up the thousand yards. The guy you can depend on, the guy you know is always gonna make the big play. We need him to. When those guys leave a locker room and there's a big void. So this is a chance for Baker Mayfield to step into that void a little bit more. So I'm curious to see how that happens and if it happens. And we'll see if Egbuca and the rest of those guys can kind of step up in that void as well. It's going to be a fascinating year for the Bucks, but I'm not counting them out yet. The Jets, I'm counting out though, at 16, so let's just give them a pick anyway.
B
D, bro.
A
Well, we know Aaron Glenn loves his man coverage dude. Azeray Thomas, Brandon Stevens, these are the guys you want to go to war with.
C
No, no, no, no, no, no.
A
Let's give him the best man coverage corner in this draft class. Jamal McCoy, cornerback out of Tennessee. This would be a hand in glove fit. Would love this.
C
Yeah, that definitely makes sense.
B
Good.
C
Get in the corner there. Like the jets need to just get bodies. Get quality bodies. That's. That's your job right now if you're the jets gm, is just get as many quality players as you can draft. Well, don't worry about looking up at the Bills and the Patriots in the division. Just don't worry about it because you're going to be looking up at them because you don't have a Quarterback get better so you can get the quarterback next year and then maybe you're in a good spot.
A
Detroit, the slander of Geno Smith, a top 10 quarterback in the NFL.
C
Top 10 turnovers.
B
I want to throw something out.
A
I have not said this.
C
I'm just telling you there's a high top 10 in interceptions, baby.
A
No, go out to X. Go out to X and just search Geno Smith Top 10, top 12 quarterback. You will find some wonderful receipts from people.
B
Do you think that the. Debra, do you think the jets should make a play for J.J. mcCarthy?
A
I think a lot of teams should be making that play.
C
I think it seems like the Vikings are making him available.
A
I. Dude, bringing back Carson Wentz, that is tipping their hand, man. I'm telling you. Yes, I agree with this. Absolutely agree with this.
C
I see a quote here. I put in Gino Smith, top 10 QB so far. I get Bart Scott saying he's the best of a limited quarterback pool. That's.
B
I mean, he's an older quarterback who doesn't have a torn Achilles on his resume. So like that's pretty good.
C
Like.
B
Like when you're comparing him to Rogers and Kirk, it's like his arm isn't shot like those guys because they lost so much power after those lower body injuries. I mean, Geno Smith has been pretty hell. I mean, he was banged up last year because Raiders.
C
This is the best. Actually, this is the best one here from a Brazilian account. Quarterbacks of the jets since 2013. Ready? Geno Smith, Michael Vick. I forgot about Vic. Michael Vick. Fitzpatrick, Bryce Petty, Josh McCown, Sam Darnold, Luke Falk, Trevor Simeon, Joe Flacco, Zach Wilson, Mike White, Tim Boyle, Aaron Rodgers, Justin Field, Tyrod Taylor, Brady Cook and Geno Smith. So you got the book answer, Geno. Well, that's the tweet.
A
It's really nice to see that Geno Smith finally wrote back to the Jets. I will say that.
C
Yeah. I wonder who's gonna punch him in the face next. Next up, the Detroit Lions at 18. Andrew Erickson, you're up.
B
Going shock 17.
C
17. Pardon me.
B
Going with the chalk here. Drafting a left tackle replacement for Taylor Decker. So I'm gonna go with Kaden Proctor, offensive tackle from Alabama.
C
All right. Detroit Lions to another team. I feel like, Andrew, you think the window is closed on them a little bit? I kind of do that division's really tough right now. I think it's.
B
I think it's.
A
The window is not closed.
B
Alluded to this, what a couple years ago when they lost in the. In the postseason, where it's like, hey, like, you don't always get these opportunities to be here. You can never guarantee to get back. And obviously, last year was a struggle as they kind of had the overturn, losing Ben Johnson. So, yeah, I mean, their window definitely was with Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn, you know, as the D.C. oC and when those.
C
Well, when you lose coordinators. Yeah, typically it's when you win a Super Bowl. So they never got to the Super Bowl. They lost two coordinators. I said last year, remember, we did all those betting preview shows together, and I was like, this is going to affect them. It might not show up right away, but it's going to affect them as time goes on. And it did. The second half of the season, it did. And I think that Pittsburgh Steelers game, that was like, the nail in the coffin for me with this team. I'm not saying they can't be competitive. I'm not saying they're not going to, you know, win 10 games. I just don't know if them as super bowl contenders necessarily is something that I'm in on. Like, when I think of the. I look at that division dbro and I see the progress Caleb Williams made with Ben Johnson last year, and sometimes it was pulling teeth, but I. I still think the Bears are fun. I think the packers are always going to be the Packers. They'll be solid. And now that the Vikings have Kyler Murray, I'm. I'm not saying Kyler Murray is Tom Brady coming in there to fix everything, but I think a motivated Kyler Murray is going to be an interesting thing to see in that offense. I really do. So I just think this is a much tighter division than maybe. I mean, it's just always been a tight division, but now it's really tight. I don't think there's any margin for error here. Where are you? The Lions here?
A
Deborah, I think the window is still firmly open. This is still a young team. They still got so many guys in their prime. They've retooled the offensive line. The one thing. And Erickson, you talk about this yearly, about how healthy teams are. Can we finally get one freaking year where their defense stays healthy if they're. Because we. Joe, you talked about the fall off of last year in the back half of the season that's happened the last few years because the defense can't keep anybody on the field. Hutchins is out. They have no D line. Their corners are dropping like flies. If they can keep their freaking defense healthy, I Think this is a team that sees and I love what they've done this off season with their offensive line bringing in Kate Mays. Juice Grugs is an underrated addition. If they solve tackle here, heck, if they just move Panay. That's been talked about too. That could even happen. Moving Panay over to left tackle and drafting a right tackle. If that happens, this team, I think they're the favorite to win the division. I'll say this, I don't think it's close to me.
C
This is a fork in the road year, I think for the Lions. I don't. If they get back, you either get back to that status of like, you run this division or I think you're really in bad spot. The good thing is that Jared Goff is still just 31 years old. Like, they don't have an old. Like he's not an old quarterback right now. He's still in his prime years. And I'll tell you what, you know, I really like on that team is Isaac Tesla. I think Tesla is gonna have a much bigger role in the offense next year. I really do. I think they love him. I. I love watching that guy. I think he's got a nose for the end zone. I think I see less Jameson Williams. You're gonna see more Isaac Tesla in 2026.
A
I'm just putting that Sam Laporte bounce back season, baby. It's coming.
C
I'm on the Tesla side. That's where I. I'm driving the Tesla. All right, next up we have the Minnesota Vikings at 18. Debro. That'
A
this is easy. I know. It's the chalky pick. I'm just going to continue to go this direction because the need is there. Dylan Thieman, safety out of Oregon. Come on down. Like Harrison Smith.
C
Yeah, we.
A
Is he going to retire? I don't think he's going to go back to Minnesota. He still hasn't retired.
C
But he's retired. Nobody's told him, I think.
A
Yeah. Fair. Well, Ty Hilton mentioned here.
B
You guys know what Ty Holden's real name is?
C
I did, but I don't remember what he was.
B
I do remember. I did know that at some point.
C
I did once upon a time.
A
Then he had his young Hilton.
C
I don't know.
B
Don't look. Don't look it up.
C
I'm not looking it up. I don't. I thought you were posing this question,
A
then you had the answer, Erickson.
C
Oh, yeah. Okay. If memory serves, all I'm gonna say is I don't think it starts with
B
A T. No, it does not start.
C
Oh, yeah.
B
I don't even know why his name is Eugene. Eugene, Eugene, Eugene.
C
But there's more to it. Isn't there more to his name?
A
Eugene isn't his son's Eugene Hilton Jr. Isn't he? So maybe Erickson just.
B
I don't know about his son. That's as far as my fun fact goes. I just know his name is Eugene Hilton. And he would destroy the Texans every single time he played.
C
He would.
B
Every single. It was. It was like DFS load up start of the week. Ty Hilton, he would wear the clown mask.
C
I miss Ty Hilton. Yeah, he's a good.
A
Paul Hilton Jr. His son is a wide receiver at Wisconsin.
C
Eugene Marquis Hilton is his full name.
B
Yeah.
C
How do you get the name Ty? That's the real question.
B
Because he kept thinking defensive backs. For letting him get open. Thank you.
C
Oh, thank you. Is that.
B
No.
C
Is that really it. That's funny.
B
I have no idea.
C
That's really funny. It is.
B
I have no idea why it's dynamic. Ask.
C
Ask Chat GPT. Why is he anything? All right, next up here, Carolina Panthers at 19. Andrew Erickson, back to you for this pick here. Where they go, offense, defense.
B
I think the Panthers are in a really cool spot here at 19 because I think that they can kind of go in any direction they want. Where maybe best player available, because you look at the biggest needs they had entering the off season. Offensive tackle with Ikea Kanwu having an injury or edge, they got Jalen Phillips, linebacker, they got Devin Lloyd. So it was like, okay, we got all of our needs in free agency, doing the things that the smart teams do. You fill your needs in free agency and then you draft best player available in the NFL draft. So I gave them an edge. Rusher, TJ Parker from Clemson. But I think that the Panthers could go in a lot of different directions. They could go with an offensive line piece, they could take one of the top. They could take another wide receiver. That would not shock me at all if there's like, well, Jordan Tyson's our top receiver, so we're just going to draft him. We don't really care what the other receivers are on our board. Again, very analytically driven franchise and something that kind of stuck out to me when I was looking back at last year's draft. Two of the players that they picked, Nick Scorton and Trevor Achan, I guess is his name technically Trevor Etn. Trevor Hn again, Travis Etn or Travis Hn's brother, he has not come out and Said, at least to my knowledge, how his last name is pronounced. Even though you think it's the same because they're brothers. Those were two of the youngest players in the draft last year. Both under 21 years old. So again, what do analytics suggest? You want to draft young players that produce at a high level, at the college level. So Carolina, again, TJ Parker is not the youngest edge rusher, but he's only 21 years old. So I think that he would definitely be in consideration for Carolina if they look to bolster with another edge rusher to join Jalen Phillips.
C
I have an answer to the Ty question. I did find it. So his name is Eugene, but his father was named Tyrone and I guess they used to call him little Ty and then eventually just became Ty and then they became Ty when they used to root for him. So there you go.
B
Nice.
C
There you go. Little Ty. Little Ty. See you learned something today here on the tailgate. That's why you subscribe to the channel, because you learn things like, what the hell is the Ty and Ty Hilton now we know. Have a good rest of your life in retirement. Eugene. Eugene's not a great name. If I my name was Eugene, I'd rather be Ty also. I can just say it. All right, next up, Dallas Cowboys with their second pick here, number 20, DBro. Where are you going with this? One more defense?
A
Yes, I am. And I'm going to pull an Andrew Erickson here. I'm going to connect all the dots. I'm going defensive lineman to D tackle Peter woods out of Clemson. So we're going to keep the Clemson run going. But what stuck out to me at Clemson's pro day, I don't know if you guys saw this, but the D line coach for the Dallas Cowboys was running all the positional drills. So Marcus Dixon is going to be in Jerry Jones ear and saying, look, we need to add a D tackle here considering Kenny Clark isn't getting any younger. And next year, Kenny Clark also carries a freaking $22 million cap. Hit boys. So Kenny Clark gone and his replacement, they draft here.
C
All right, 21. Pittsburgh Steelers are up. Erickson, that means you.
B
I'm going to go offensive line venge Ioane from Penn State. Maybe he knows where the bathrooms are. Again, Penn State's not necessarily right next to the Pittsburgh.
C
Couple hours away.
B
A couple hours away. Pennsylvania still. Maybe he's been there before. Maybe he's seen a Steelers game. So, yeah, maybe they have a hole at guard Isaac Samalu signed with the Arizona Cardinals. This off season. So I'm putting him here. I did consider Ty Simpson as well because I think that he's going to end up being a first round pick and it's moving right up the Steelers alley to pick a guy right where they pick in the similar range of Kenny Pickett in this middle of the the first round. But ultimately they can't pass on a guard. I think one of the a very well rounded offensive lineman in this class.
C
So you know what I hope, I hope that Aaron Rodgers comes back and then they draft Simpson in the first round. That's what I because that, that's, that's what I want to see happen because you know, Aaron Rodgers. Chargers at 22d bro. What do they do?
A
They brought Khalil Mack back but they lost Dafa away. They. Their D line is really thin, man. And they need to inject some youth here. Let's give him Kendrick Falk edge out of Auburn.
C
Good. The Chargers are gonna be good next year. I'm telling Charge defense was very good last year and I think quietly good. I don't think people realize offensive line just has to stay healthy. Herbert played really good football. I like the Chargers. I really like Mike McDaniel taking over
A
as do you think the loss of Jesse mentor is going to hurt him a lot though, Joe, speaking of coordinator losses, my man.
C
Yes but I think the addition on the offensive side of Mike McDaniel is, is cooking. I, I look what he, he has never had a quarterback like Justin Herbert before to work with in the NFL. Like that's.
A
Yep.
C
That's a big difference here for Mike McDaniel and you got a Mario and Hampton there.
B
Do you think McDaniel would push for the Chargers to trade for Achan and to send Hampton?
C
No, I think he just goes.
A
I think they kind of low key did that with Keaton Mitchell signing.
C
No, I just think, I think it's Hampton to the moon. I, I don't think. Yeah, I think you overthink. 23 the Philadelphia Eagles Erickson, are we back to the line here?
B
Yeah. Looking for another long term replacement for Lane Johnson. He's going to come back but he's turning 36 years old and similar to Trent Williams when Lane Johnson misses time, we just see this Eagles offense just fall off a cliff. Just not nearly as efficient. So they need to get ahead of his replacement and how he's usually pretty good about getting ahead of the offensive line pieces as they get older. So. Blake Miller, offensive tackle from Clemson. Yet another Tiger off the board.
C
All right, next up is Cleveland at 24. And I feel like every time we do this pick, it always ends up as a wide receiver. Is that what it's going to be again this time?
A
Yeah, because it makes a ton of sense. If Philly doesn't snipe them as a precursor to an AJ Brown trade, then I think definitely Jordan Tyson, wide receiver out of Arizona State. Can we at this point, can we all say that Steve Smith was right and Jerry Judy is not a dude? I think he's effectively proven that time and time and time and time and oh, look at that time and time again. So, yes, Jordan Tyson, please. We. This passing attack needs you.
C
All right. The Bears, I imagine at 25, has got to go defense here. Erickson, right?
B
Yeah, they got to go defense and it's edge rusher. It's not a secret that they need to add more pass rush. Look at some of the betting odds. Minus155 to draft a defensive lineman or edge player, which is pretty juicy just given the unknown of the NFL draft. The only one I could push edge.
C
I would push edge if I was them.
B
Yeah, that's how I feel as well. I think that they have a couple guys on the defensive line for run stoppers in the comeback. But Ben Johnson has talked about this off season, need for more pass rush, want to enhance the defensive speed. So I actually went with a player that we haven't talked about. I think on any of our first round mocks. Malachi Lawrence, edge rusher from ucf. He's been getting a lot of first round buzz as, hey, this guy's underrated. This guy jumps off the page. He's a good fit with Dennis Allen and when you look at what he did at the combine, 95th percentile or better in a 40 yard dash in both of his jumps. So I think that he might end up having his name called at the end of round one. We always kind of see that random pass rusher that Rose. He's on fringe. He kind of sneaks into the back end of round one. I think that starts at 25 with Chicago. Just based on, hey, they need an edge rusher and you're going to start to see an edge run as actually, as we go through this mock, we're going to see a lot of edge rushes start to come off the board. I think that he's going to be in this conversation at the end of April.
C
Yeah, Dibro, you got edge to Buffalo here. You got Zion Young going.
A
Yeah, man. I mean, look, I don't think Joey Bosa is coming back. No, I know they signed Bradley Chubb, but they, they need more pass rush. Buffalo has had the 12th fewest sacks last year. Like this is just feels easy.
C
San Francisco could also use the pass rush. Erickson, sorry. With three straight edge Rogers here because you got Cassius Howell going, right?
B
Yeah, I got Cassius Howell. Edge rusher from Texas A and M could have gone tackle here based on the Trent Williams situation. That's kind of where the betting is is forecasting again 105 for them taking offensive line with their first pick. And if Trent Williams ends up getting cut, released, whatever, then you're going to see those lines get much juicier towards them taking offensive lineman. But look their edge and pass rush sucked last year. They had zero pass rush last season. Now I know that's a lot of injuries with Nick Bosa, but how is he going to be coming back from a season ending injury? 32nd in sacks last year, 30th in pressure rate. They don't have Robert Saleh anymore. So Salah was working his magic with a bunch of backup players to create a semblance of a defense and I, I do think that they need to add more players. Again, this isn't anything new. Where? Oh, the 49ers draft another defensive lineman with their first round pick. That's kind of how they've invested in this defense more often than not. So it's going to be their tackle or defensive lineman. I went edge here.
C
Houston, the 28's got to take lineman correct on the offensive side. Deborah. They have to.
A
That's where I'm going here, man. And, and, and they've added a lot of offensive line. I feel like they're just throwing bodies at the problem.
C
Well, bodies would be a start.
B
I, I kind of disagree with them needing to go offensive line here. I mean they've kind of revamped. So they drafted Ursury last year.
A
You feel good about Evan Brown at, at guard?
B
He's not starting to guard. You got. They just signed Wyatt Teller left guard.
A
Okay.
B
Center Ed Ingram right guard and then they signed Braden Smith in free agency.
C
Yeah.
B
So I, I, I
C
need offensive line. Maybe you move up here to take a tackle and the Texans move out a little bit.
B
I mean that's what they did last year. They went traded back to get Earth street top of the second round. So no, I mean I, again I don't think that it's a bad move for them to go off so I don't mean to, to rain.
C
No, I think It's a good conversation.
B
I just felt that.
A
I honestly think they, they could go a lot of different directions. This pick when we were going through was really hard for me because with all the additions it's like, do I still go offensive line? But the other thing about it is even if we want to look at like this being a solved puzzle where what depth do they have? They have no depth. Like they, with all of their signings, they're telling us loudly. Also with all of that, they don't want Blake Fisher on the field at all. So if an injury happens, do they want him to play? I, I can't, I can't see that. So that's why I did go. Caleb Blmu tackle out of Utah. It, for me it's, it's okay. But then if he, he comes into camp, compete with Ursary at left tackle. Because I don't think Ursary is also shown you enough to this point where you look at him as being the locked in long term left tackle for this team. So if anything, competition brings out the best in all of them.
C
All right, next up here you have the Kansas City Chiefs at 29, this pick they acquired from the Los Angeles Rams. So Erickson is. The Chiefs continue to remake themselves. What do they do here?
B
I think they're going to address the secondary at some point. Obviously the big moves that they've made were moving away from Trent McDuffie, not paying him, trading him to the Rams to get a first round pick. They also didn't resign Jaylen Watson, he left. He's also with the Rams, ironically. So the Rams took all the Kansas City Chiefs secondary pieces. So I think that at some point they have to draft a cornerback. Aven Terrell, cornerback from Clemson. You look at the roster currently they have no Williams who they drafted last year. He was a nice find in round three. But then it's Christian Fulton, Cater, Kohu, they signed to a one year deal. So when we're talking about, hey, we need a cornerback, they're gonna need more cornerbacks next year too because two of these guys are on one year deal. So I think they're going to draft a cornerback. So I like Terrell here as a good fit.
C
All right, next up, the dolphins at 30d. Bro, what do you have?
A
So I, I want to open that. We, we touched on this lightly earlier. I want to open this up a little bit. Guys. Why are we throwing so much shade at the Green Bay packers south when the Miami Dolphins are basically just doing the exact same thing that The Green Bay packers have done over the last few years with their wide receiver room. They are going to draft Denzel Boston, wide receiver out of Washington here. I like that still have players.
C
Like, I think that's a good pick for them.
A
I think it's a fantastic pick. And the other thing about all of this is they have seven picks inside the top 100. So they walk away with two wide receivers and say they sign somebody like a Juwan Jennings off the scrap heap. Are we still giving this team so much crap about the wide receiver room?
C
I don't. Speaker 2 It looks like crap right now, so it's fun to do, but
A
no, but the conversation about the Miami Dolphins in that wide receiver room discusses it like the NFL draft isn't going to happen. And we're walking into week one in like next week. And it's like, dude, if you give
C
me Boston to happen, if you give me another guy and you sign Juwan Jennings, I think you're fine. I think you're more than fine, actually.
A
Say that they have four third round picks and we talk about this draft class and the depth of the wide receiver class. If they walk into week one and their top three wide receivers or say like their depth chart looks like Denzel Boston, Juan Jennings, they draft one of say Chris Brazil, Ted Hurst or Bryce Lance and Jalen Tolbert is their wide receiver 4. Is everybody still like so freaking concerned about Malik Willis and the other thing I'll, I'll throw in here. Erickson, I'm curious, Curious. Your two cents here too. But like, do we not believe that they also probably told Malik Willis before he signed there? Like, look, we're going to tear this down more, but this is our draft plan. Like, we can't rule that out as being a conversation as well.
B
I think they probably gave him an inkling that they, if they got a good enough deal or future capital, they will move on from Jalen Waddle? Look, I think it makes sense in terms of how this office is going to be structured that should we really be paying Jalen Waddle all this money if we're gonna give him five targets a game? Because we're running the football on every single down. It's like, no, we would rather give him other weapons. We'd rather give him younger pieces to work with. But I do think that they also come to the caveats, like, hey man, you have to really show out here for us to commit to you. Because you look at this contract, it's very much like you're going to start this year, next year, your bridge quarterback money. Because after that, 20, 28, they have an out in his contract that's like, oh, you're giving it to the rookie quarterback. So I think that this is his chance again. He was a third round pick. Nothing is promised you in the NFL. He started six games. So it's not like the Packers. Yes, they obviously believe in him. A lot of the obviously, like you talked about, the Miami coaching staff has come from Green Bay. They like Malik Willis, but he's played six games. Right. So they can't be like, oh yeah, you're our story for the next three years. Like have fun. So I don't think they're like screwing him over in sense of, oh, there's no way he could have seen this coming. I think there's probably some intel that, hey, you do have to show out and you have to show that you can be the tie that rises this offense. And if you give us the 10th overall pick, well, good on you. You, you prevented us from being able to get a different quarterback. But if he flounders or flops, well then, sorry, we're going to draft a quarterback of the future.
A
I just think they're going to give him pass kitchen weapons. Like just look at Green Bay. Like if we would rewind a few years ago and say, okay, everybody's just like, oh, the Green Bay wide receiver room is awesome. Christian Watson, Matthew golden and Jaden Reed. And those are all guys that were drafted. Okay, fine, first, second, third, like they were all answers through the draft. So I feel like that's what Miami's doing here. And I, I also did see some you forgot Romeo type tweets from somebody's, oh, well, he's not there now.
C
That's the reason I left him out. But recently.
A
But again, Romeo Dobbs getting almost 20 mil a year out on the open market says something about his talent level as well. But Erickson, I will also throw it to your way. And I did see somebody tweeting some hype about Greg Dulcich out there in the ether too. So it's not like he's a zero as a pass catcher either.
B
No, he's not. I think that he fits really well with what the packers like to do offensively and they had a great yards out to the catch tight end last year. Maybe you guys heard of him. Tucker Craft, he's pretty good. Greg double six right behind him last season.
C
Nobody talked about the breakout of Kraft more than Erickson last preseason. So if you, if you watched any show with Me and Erickson, he was 100 right on that. Erickson. We got two more picks here. 31 is New England. I've hated every pick that we've done so far in every draft for edge rusher.
B
Right? It's like, who's the next best edge rusher?
C
Well, it's like an edge rusher and then like the last draft and I hated that pick so good.
A
Dude, no, you would love him.
C
If he's a Patriot, that's fine. I like more of my flag football team than I would as my Patriots wide receiver. So Andrew Erickson, redeem all the other drafts. Give the Pats an offensive tackle, please.
B
Yes. I'm going with the Arizona State offensive tackle. Try not to butcher his name here. It's Max, I believe is how you pronounce it on a chore. So Morgan Moses is the current right tackle for the Patriots. He was still talking about whether he's going to come back. He's not getting any younger. He's 35 years old. And if Will Campbell struggles this year again at tackle, well, then there's going to be a serious conversation about, well, he needs to kick inside to guard. And now you have absolutely inside the guard where you have problems. So they need to get ahead of this draft. Another tackle. 6, 6, 325 pounds. He can play right tackle. Maybe he can shift over to left tackle as well. But I just think that they lost Federian Love Thyroid Munford again. Two of their backup tackles, they both left in free agency. So they need to protect Drake. May and I know that we like to do the weapons and the wide receivers and it's fun, but just draft good offensive linemen when you have the chance to, especially franchise tackles.
C
Take the tackle. Go trade your 20, 27 first round pick and some other stuff June 1st for AJ Brown and yes, and kick Will Campbell into guard. I don't need to. I don't need. I don't need to be sold on it that he has to hit the weight room or anything else. I watch him get beat in the playoffs by the elites and look, the Patriots have designs on playing in the playoffs again. So the elites are going to beat him again. Like, I'm. I'm sorry. It was. It was there and exposed. I think it'd be a great guard. He could be fantastic. Pro bowl guard even. You know, I'm not trying to say Will Campbell's not a good player. I just think he's miscast in the role as left tackle in the NFL. And that's okay, that's the thing. He's not the first guy that's been miscasting. So it doesn't mean he can't have a great career guard. All pro possible guard. All right, let's close things out here with the champs, Seattle. Where they go here at 32d, bro. Certainly some holes to fill for Seattle. I would like to see them take price here, but I imagine maybe that's more of a day two thing.
A
I just love that I can't see them. I can't see them doing it. I. I just. I know every mock has price going
C
in the first round. I haven't seen one. I haven't seen one of them.
B
Have you really?
A
Kuiper's new mock has it in there. There was another one that I read out there in the East.
C
I thought I was breaking here.
A
Oh, no. It's become the trendy pick. You're.
C
You're ahead of the trend again. Just like you and Cole.
A
You're ahead of the trend.
C
Yeah.
A
So I'm actually going to go with a guy that has fallen down the board here that broke his foot the night before the combine testing. And this dude still went out with one good wheel and posted a 9.8 last dude. Seattle is just gonna welcome Caleb Banks with open arms. They lost boy Mafe in free agency. No, he's not a D tackle. But the strength of Seattle's defense is not only the talent that they have there, but the depth. You look at last year, the number two, the one in two guys that played the most defensive tackle snaps in the freaking NFL were Leonard Williams and Byron Murphy. So Caleb Williams. I mean, Caleb. Caleb Williams. Good lord. Caleb Banks. I'd love to see Kayla tackle out of Florida.
C
That'd be hilarious.
A
Come on down.
C
Yeah.
A
Might be better at that than a quarterback.
C
Yeah, but look, sometimes we're ahead of the curve. We did a.
A
We did a.
C
A show, what, like over a month ago now, we did a film study show on our Twitch channel for fantasy pros where Debra and I are watching film on guys and we were talking about Cole Payton and Debo and I have him as our second quarterback on this.
