Welcome into Fantasy Pros. I'm Ryan Wormley, joined as I am every Monday by Tara Roberts. We are talking five moves to make ahead of week eight. I've been saying this basically every week, but yet again I will repeat myself. It's hard to believe that we are already here into week eight, essentially like two months into the fantasy season already. We've got some buys, we've got some sells. We've even got maybe a surprising player to drop here coming from Tara. Let's kick things off. Do you want to remind everybody all of our weekly consensus rankings and tiers can be found@fantasyprose.com rankings Tara, who is your first buy of the week?
A
Let's kick this off in a positive. I like to start off with the buys here. We are going to do some buy lows and start with Jalen Waddle here. And supposedly the word coming out of Miami is that they are not expecting any changes in terms of personnel, if you know what I mean. Mike McDaniel mainly being the one. So take this opportunity here before we know any major changes to buy low on Jalen Waddle, who I think is one of our stronger buy low candidates here because Miami's offense has looked objectively awful at times and on Sunday that was definitely the case there. Javon Devon HN being the only bright spot there. But we can't use this performance right here as a baseline of what to expect from Jalen Wad just because there was a lot working against him in this game. First of all, it was a brutal defensive matchup. While there have been other wide receiver ones that have found success in this type of matchup with this defense, it does help having a quarterback that can handle that type of pressure and unfortunately to a tug of low is not one of those guys. Then you add on top of that terrible weather, it was just a recipe for disaster for Miami's passing game. Unfortunately you can tell it was a weird game here because Malik Washington led the entire team in targets and receptions, and we know that he tends to hover right around a line of scrimmage there. So it tells you that they really simply couldn't push the ball downfield here. But when they're in decent situations, when Miami's offense is not dealing with weather or major issues there, Jaylen Waddle does have upside as the wide receiver one there and he is the clear wide receiver one. He's been the most productive pass capture in terms of being the wide receiver one after the exit of Tyreek Hill there. And we have to remember that we're not in unknown territory here with Jalen Waddle as the wide receiver one for Tua Tug of Aloha. There was a year that existed before Tyreek Hill got there, and he had an excellent rookie season with Tua operating as the wide receiver one there. The Dolphins do have some favorable matchups coming up and more importantly a playoff schedule that includes Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Tampa Bay. Two of those are very pass friendly and even the Steelers matchup tends to yield volume just because people are typically trying to chase points against a Pittsburgh offense that has been surprisingly successful there. So. So, you know, take this opportunity, this bad game, a little bit of an outlier here and buy low on Jalen Waddle.
C
Yeah, a perfect storm, right? Not just the storm itself, no pun intended, but then also going up against the Browns defense as strong as it is, and Tua just looking like totally incapable of doing anything offensively. I know it seems like like McDaniel, at least for now, is going to be sticking around. Do you think there's any chance that we see Quinn Ewers as a guy like, I'm not saying he'd be like the permanent starter rest of season, but getting starts here and there. And if we were to see a quarterback change, even if it's not this week, but you know, at some point later down the line, what would you make of Jalen Waddle in that circumstance?
A
Honestly, I wouldn't put too much change on the outlook for Waddle. We also had Darren Waller go down with an injury. We've got a clear target funnel to him, indecent opportunities. So even if we do get that switch, and we might get that split switch at some point later in the season, in particular when the Dolphins are clearly trying to figure if they actually have anything in Quinn Ewers or if they need to make a major investment in quarterback in the draft or this off season here. So yeah, I think it's realistic to expect that there could be a quarterback switch here, but Quinn's perfectly capable of getting the ball downfield. We've got a nice target funnel again to Jalen Waddle, so I wouldn't worry too much about the potential of a quarterback switch there.
C
You've got another wide receiver here for your next buy.
A
I do. It is Ted McMillan, and again, it's another buy low in understanding here why there was a rough day for him. Just like Jalen Waddle, there are circumstances that made it so that unfortunately, Ted McMillan just had a bad day. Unfortunately. Bryce Young obviously left the game with an ankle injury, but here, this was just a really tough defensive matchup. The jets struggled earlier in the season, but they've gotten healthier as the season has gone on and they've clamped down on offenses. Recently, Xavier Leggett had the big game here, and you can look at that and kind of see that this was a little bit of an outlier. Because if you look at the jets in past performances here, having these random wide receivers outperform the wide receiver one is not unusual. The game I like to point to is that Dallas game where Ryan Flournoy popped up, had a massive game, outperformed George Pickens and then disappeared. Calvin Austin also outperformed DK Metcalf in this matchup. A guy like Sterling Shepard also had a great matchup against the jets here. So it's just one of those weird matchups where obviously they clamp down on the wide receiver ones and everybody else has an opportunity to potentially step up there. But if you're looking outside of this game, in this matchup here, Ted McMillan has had a very steady floor all season, and he's been a reliable flex option. Last week we finally saw him actually reach the end zone. Multiple touchdowns there. And when we're looking at this offense here, I know it's easy to kind of look at them and feel like the Panthers are in a bad situation there, but they actually move the ball pretty well. The run game has been effective and definitely improved. Their defense has stepped up as well, allowing them to stay more competitive in games so. So that they don't get into a situation where Bryce Young is heaving desperation throws. He can stick within the confines of the offense there and run a more balanced offense as well, creating more red zone opportunities potentially for McMillan as we move forward here. Now, moving forward, we're probably going to get Andy Dalton at quarterback here, another guy that can air the ball out, make some mistakes there. But we're also looking at, again, another potential opportunity for these red zone targets to increase for Ted McMillan. But again, main thing there is is that outside of this matchup, the floor has been very steady. Targets have been very steady for him and that should continue here. So it's a good buy low opportunity for people that are feeling a little bit underwhelmed. And the fact that the other Panthers receivers stepped up, particularly Xavier Leggette there.
C
I was going to ask, like, with the quarterback change, like, first of all, you don't need to sell me on, like Tedro McMillan, the player. I've been just like so over the moon about him for, you know, months at this point. Like, I ranked him very aggressively during draft season. I've been wanting to buy low on him where I can, except for I can't buy him most places because I already drafted him aggressively in most places. What do you make of the quarterback change? Like, is it an improvement or are you going to temper expectations for however long Andy Dalton is playing quarterback?
A
I don't mind it because as we've seen with Andy Dalton before, he will push aggressive volumes. Now sometimes that can create a bunch of turnovers and things can go sideways. And Bryce Young for his credit has done a better job at kind of clamping down on the turnovers overall there in general. But we should see pace uptake a little bit here, airing the ball out a little bit more maybe. Andy Dalton has a tendency to be a little bit more aggressive there so we can take advantage of the contested catch ability that Ted McMillan has there. So it might not be a bad match. It could actually, from a contested catch perspective, be a better match for him since Dalton can be a little bit more aggressive.

All right, Tara, let's get into ourselves. Who do you have for us?
A
We're going to sell a guy that we talked about last week as a drop candidate. That might seem counterintuitive, but go with me on this. Y' all didn't really drop him, so now we're going to potentially sell him. Here it is, Jacoby Myers. And I understand if you held on to him because unlike our drop candidate, we'll talk about a little bit here, we've at least seen ample evidence that Jacobi Myers actually offers upside. Like, we know what he is, we know what he can be. So yeah, that can be absolutely tough to let go and make you less inclined to drop him. Do I still think he's worthy of a drop? Probably. But you still have an opportunity here to potentially open up a little sell window for him because rumors are floating around that Jacoby Myers is on the trade block. And obviously there are a lot of rumors, right, that go around, but this one seems more credible because we know that Jacoby Myers actually asked for a trade in the offseason, so that just kind of falls in line with what he had been requesting. We know he was frustrated with his contract. We know that he's in the final year of this contract and we know that the Raiders more than likely were moving on from him after the season since they drafted To Jack Besh, who was, you know, theoretically a direct replacement for him because their skill set directly overlaps there. So logically, the Raiders, who are just not competitive right now, might be very open to trading Jacoby Myers and actually getting something out of him instead of just letting him walk away at the end of the season there. So while the fantasy potential right there might make you want to hold on to him rather than selling him, I would rather roll dice and just trade him away because we have no idea if he gets traded, if he'll land into a situation that actually does upgrade his fantasy value. He could end up in a very crowded receiving room as a depth piece for a contender or be a wide receiver too, on a good team. But a situation where maybe he'll see low volume and remain inconsistent. And then there's also the possibility he doesn't get traded at all. And then you're stuck with Jacoby Myers and his seven fantasy points over, over and over again. We don't have a lot of confidence that Geno Smith is turning anything around any soon, anytime sooner. So then you're maybe hoping, hey, can we, can we get a little spit switch to Kenny Pickett here to maybe uptick things for Jacoby Myers? But the fact that we have held on to him this long through the single digit fantasy point performances, there's a little sliver of opportunity here to see if we can capitalize on those trade rumors. So if you got them, potentially try to shop him around there because there could be some people that are looking for these little, these little trade target gems and be very interested in Jacoby.
C
Myers right now at this point. I think if you trade it for a bucket of footballs, right, like whatever you can get just kind of sell at any. Like sometimes we talk about like, you know, like buy low, sell high. Sometimes it's a sell low, like just get what you can for them. And I think that's the category that Myers would certainly fall under. You know, hasn't had double digit targets since week two. Obviously. Like, like we know the production hasn't been there and the, you know, trade rumors and you know, didn't even play in this game. So. Yeah, I, I'm with you on this one for sure. Let's go to your other cell here.
A
Yeah, this is, this goes along those same concept of a cell low, get out while you can kind of deal. It's Alvin Camara, unfortunately. Then we've got a little sliver of a window. That's the theme for this, this video is that we've got little slivers of windows to maybe pull the escape hatch and get out here because it feels like it's been virtually impossible to get out of Alvin Camara because nobody is wanting to invest in him for a wide variety of reasons. Right? But now might be the opportunity that you finally have to be able to capitalize on that because we had hoped for a while that there would be trade rumors going around him and he shut those down real quick and said that was absolutely not happening or he would be somewhere sipping pina coladas. Now we've got him and Kendra Miller unfortunately out for the season here. Now with Kendra Miller out, we know that he was contributing significantly to that backfield, so maybe you might find people to think, okay, we know that Alvin Camara is going to stay there. We know that Kendra Miller has been contributing significantly here and it's reduced the snap counts for Alvin Camara. So logically, if we have Kendra Miller exit with an injury, are we really going to see someone else pulled up and kind of increased to a significant role or would we just logically see more of a reliance on Alvin Camara, who was apparently going to remain a focal point of this offense here? I don't know if this is the situation that you want to stick for pair with because unfortunately we got a great matchup here with very little Kendra Miller in this matchup and Camara still put up mediocre numbers here. Again, we're not selling high here, but we're looking to get out of this while we can here because theoretically the bulk of the volume should go to Camara. Unfortunately, he's probably not going to be able to do anything with it here. So the road ahead is also not super friendly in terms of a run defense perspective and Alvin Camara has made it clear that he's not going anywhere. So we've got this little opportunity here. You might want to just get out while you can.
C
He's ranked ranked RB27 in rest of season rankings. These are just amongst the experts who have updated this morning. So it's not, you know, the full allotment of experts in our consensus rankings yet because it is still Monday morning. But that's the range that he's in in some of these early consensus rankings. Does that sound too high, too low or just right to you? Again, RB27, I think it's just right.
A
Because after you get past 24, you get into a kind of shaky area where you start looking at running backs who don't have a solo solidified position in their offense and things could adjust on a weekly basis there. They're operating in committees and whatnot. So theoretically, yeah, A high end RB3 does make a lot of sense. In a perfect world, we get this volume, you know, just like funneled down to him and he can at least hit 10 fantasy points in a game and maybe not much more than that, but at least get a double digit fantasy point. So that's. It feels about right. But it's not really a range that you, that you love to kind of play on a weekly basis.
C
Let me ask you this. Would you trade him for, oh, Marion Hampton, knowing that you're not going to have Hampton for a few weeks, but that the injury isn't supposed to be season ending so at some point you'll be getting him back? Does that feel like it? Because they're very close in the consensus rankings, I would.
A
Especially if you have a winning record now, your team is tracking good. Amirian Hampton is a, is a good example of someone to trade for that you can't use now. But you're not going to be using Alvin Camara now because if you're in a good position, you're not rolling him out in your starting lineup. You've already moved on. Your roster's better, you've adjusted. So yeah, you're trading somebody who you ideally don't want in your lineup for somebody who's not going to be in your lineup but has much higher upside in the future.

But it is surprising when you think about the hype coming into the season where this player was drafted, what we thought the role might look like, what the other back in the backfield we thought was going to look like. All that stuff makes us surprising. Why are you dropping Trayvon Henderson?
A
Yeah, and I'm going to get some pushback on this. I know it because it's very similar to the situation where we were advising like, hey, of saying, hey, you got to drop, you got to move on from Caleb Johnson and got a lot of pushback on that too. Because it's hard to let go of these rookies who we know we have, we know they have extreme talent. We know that if they're just given the opportunity, if they get just give them 10 carries and we know that they can do something impressive with it. But unfortunately it's just not happening for Travy on Henderson here. We're looking at drop candidates. They're my least favorite to talk about here, especially when it comes to rookies that we love. But unfortunately it's just such a tough scene there for Henderson. And the problem is, is that we have gone through about like 10,000 scenarios where Henderson should have theory theoretically been able to step up and he didn't or wasn't given the opportunity there. We had both from Andre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson just fumbling on top of fumbling on top of fumbling. It was kind of crazy. You would think logically. Okay, well let's give it to the back who has not been fumbling, give him some more opportunities. You know, we often see coaches punishing backs for fumbling multiple times there. That didn't happen unfortunately, that didn't do it for Henderson to get more opportunities. Then Antonio Gibson got hurt and we thought, okay, at least this will force it into a two man committee. Both of the running backs will offer value here so we can, you know, at least get a nice little floor here from Trevion Henderson. Nope, that didn't do it as well. And now we get another scenario of, you know, we've only got these two running backs, in theory, we got a blowout game. You would say, okay, well, you know, Henderson, garbage time. Nope. Unfortunately the garbage time touches didn't go to him either. This might not be his year. Unfortunately, it's not a negative towards him. I feel like if he was given the opportunity, he could really thrive. But when you look at the coach and the offensive coordinator and kind of, we knew it makes sense. We knew this was something that we had to be concerned about heading into the season. Given the history, Patriots committee, backfields, we just thought that logically the most talented one, the young one with the pop would come through, but that just hasn't happened there. So if you want to hold on to him as a handcuff to Ramon Dre Stevenson, I get it. That's fine if you have the ability to do so. But then I question if even the Patriots would actually make him the lead back or if they would just force a couple other backs into a committee as well. Is this ultimately something that we can trust? If you're in a situation where you're dealing with bye week issues, you're dealing with injuries and you need actual usable pieces and unfortunately, Henderson does not look like a usable piece right now. You might have to move on.
C
Mike Vrabel said after the game that the team found its five minute back in Terrell Jennings, which is just like deeply disturbing to hear. I mean, I mean Henderson like, like I, there were experts out there who were talking about this Tennessee matchup as kind of like the last chance for Henderson. Like we're going to roll him out there one more time. And he had his worst performance of the year. He had two carries for 5 yards and not a single target. I, I mean he has under 10 total fantasy points combined across the last three weeks. And like you would think as a rookie you will be getting more usage as the season gets on and it's, if anything it's getting worse. His season high in rushing yards in a game is 32. Like his, his receiving yards high is 30. He's only, he only has one game where he has 50 combined receiving and rushing yards. And this is a guy that we thought of as a capable pass catcher and third down back. So I mean the, the production has been extraordinarily drop worthy. It's just the like, not even just the logic of a handcuff and like, well, rookies have upside. It's also the emotion of like depending on when you drafted, you might have taken Ederson in like the fourth or fifth round given the hype that was coming up. And it just feels like really tough to drop those guys before Halloween and there's no injury and it seems like there should be a path forward. So I get why this is like a hard one and why you might get some pushback here. Certainly I don't think you would get any pushback on him being like permanently benched until we see something. But you know, stash versus drop is often one of the most difficult conversations. One of the most difficult decisions you can make in fantasy is deciding if it's time to drop a player or if you want to keep stashing them. You know, you got to make room for whoever it is that you're trying to go pick up. So this is an interesting one because my job would not be on the floor if we get to Thanksgiving and are like, okay, Henderson is like the lead back in this backfield. Like if at some point it does happen, it would, it would suddenly based on what we've seen so far, but it wouldn't send me just knowing that this was an early second round pick and a player that we like and everything. You know, maybe Ramondre fumbles a couple more times and Ravel finally takes him off the field. So like, like, it wouldn't totally stun me, but I just don't know how you can count on it right now. And if there's a player that you want to pick up, this is a Buymageddon week. Right. There's six teams on bye. So if you need to pick somebody up to make room and you know, I'm sorry if you mentioned this and I missed it, but like, the matchups the next two weeks too are not great. Cleveland and Atlanta, so like, that's not going to be, you know, super easy for him even if you were to be getting usage. That, yeah. At a certain point you're talking about like, okay, so you're not even going to consider starting this guy again until like week 11 or whatever. And he's got a buy in week 14, which is not fun even if he was getting usage. So at a certain point he almost becomes like a guy like a landmine. You drop him and let somebody else pick him up and waste away a spot on their bench and, and maybe in their starting lineup. So that, that's a very long winded response for me of saying like, yeah, it's, it's like it feels weird to say, but I, I get it. I don't, I don't think you're that wrong. And I think if you do get pushback, it's from, it's from folks who just want it to not be true and kind of aren't looking at the evidence in front of them.
A
Yeah, and I, and I get that completely. Like, I, I was, I'm, I'm not someone who avoided trivia at all costs. You know, I, for perspective, I drafted him a super, you know, deep league and I can't start him. It's not, it's not physically possible at this point. So, yeah, if there's better options on waivers and it's going to be beneficial to your team, you got to make that move.
C
Unfortunately, he's RB33 in the rest of season rankings right now, consensus rankings. I would not be surprised if that gets lower as more rankings come in, you know, throughout the early part of this week. Because again, if you couldn't do it against Tennessee and not even get the opportunity against Tennessee, like, I just don't know what you're, what you're waiting on anymore, so we'll go ahead and wrap up on that fun note. Those were five moves to make before week eight for Tara. I'm Ryan. Thanks for tuning in. We'll see you again next time. Thanks for listening to the Fantasy Pros Fantasy Football Podcast. Episode: 5 Moves You Need to Make Week Ahead Of Week 8 (Ep. 1787)
Date: October 21, 2025
Host: Ryan Wormley
Guest Analyst: Tara Roberts
Overview:
This episode zeroes in on five concrete moves fantasy football managers should consider making before Week 8 in the 2025 season. Tara Roberts delivers her top buy, sell, and drop targets, with actionable analysis grounded in the latest performances and news. The advice is designed to help listeners maximize their rosters for the run to the fantasy playoffs.
"I wouldn't worry too much about the potential of a quarterback switch... We've got a nice target funnel again to Jalen Waddle." (A, 04:15)
"I don't mind it because as we've seen with Andy Dalton before, he will push aggressive volumes... so it might not be a bad match." (A, 07:24)
"Sell low, like just get what you can for them. And I think that's the category that Myers would certainly fall under." (C, 12:19)
"You're trading somebody who you ideally don't want in your lineup for somebody who's not going to be in your lineup but has much higher upside in the future." (A, 15:56)
"You drop him and let somebody else pick him up and waste away a spot on their bench." (C, 21:59)
"Take this opportunity, this bad game, a little bit of an outlier here, and buy low on Jalen Waddle." (A, 03:21)
"We have no idea if he gets traded, if he'll land into a situation that actually does upgrade his fantasy value." (A, 11:07)
"We're looking at drop candidates, they're my least favorite to talk about here, especially when it comes to rookies that we love." (A, 17:04)
"Stash versus drop is often one of the most difficult conversations. One of the most difficult decisions you can make in fantasy is deciding if it's time to drop a player or if you want to keep stashing them." (C, 21:14)
"Theoretically, the bulk of the volume should go to Camara…unfortunately he's probably not going to be able to do anything with it here." (A, 14:28)
| Move Type | Player | Reason | |------------|----------------------|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------| | Buy | Jalen Waddle | Outlier bad week, WR1 opportunity, good playoff schedule, don’t overreact to QB rumors | | Buy | Ted McMillan | Floor remains strong, new QB may target heavily, schedule and opportunity improving | | Sell | Jacoby Myers | Trade rumors create a window, production down, uncertain role if traded, possible waivers value | | Sell | Alvin Kamara | Opportunity with Miller out, but not capitalizing, tough schedule, sell before value dips further | | Drop | TreVeyon Henderson | Consistently low usage/production, buried in committee, no signs of change, bye/injury need |
Candid, empathetic, and practical. Tara and Ryan balance hard-hitting advice with an understanding of the emotional aspects of fantasy football (“It feels really tough to drop those guys before Halloween and there's no injury and it seems like there should be a path forward…” – Ryan, 21:48). Throughout, the focus is on seizing opportunities, cutting dead weight, and staying ruthless in pursuit of championship aspirations.
This summary highlights the depth and nuance of FantasyPros’ weekly analysis, equipping listeners to act decisively as waiver deadlines and trade windows approach.
