Welcome in everybody to Fantasy Pros. This is time to talk about the busts. It is me, Joey P. Joe P. Zapia. That of course is my patty cakes, Pat Fitzmorris. And we're going to talk about players that we're avoiding for different reasons. We're going to talk about some guys going early in drafts in those middle rounds and even later in the maybe 100 period where we just don't like the player. We think there's better uses of your draft capital. So Pat and I are going to break those names down for you. If you're watching right now on the YouTube channel, I know you are, make sure you subscribe to the YouTube channel. We're trying to get to 300,000 this year. And while you subscribe like this video, drop your comments below because you might just win yourself the AJ Brown Salute to Service autographed helmet. Go birds from pristine auction.com. that's right. How do you win? I just told you. Drop a comment, subscribe to the channel. Ring the bell to lick goes ding. So you never miss a piece of content here on the channel. And then we can let you know if you're the winner of the big AJ Brown helmet from Pristine Auction. All right, Pitts, Morris, let's start with an early round first, maybe even second round guy that you're avoiding in drafts in 2025. And why?
A
Oh Joe, it's Breece hall. And like I like him. He's talented. He catches passes. He's a, a good player. But new jets head coach Aaron Glenn has been saying all offseason that he wants to use multiple backs, not just two. It, it sounds like he want Hall, Braylon Allen, Isaiah Davis. And then preseason games come and like Aaron Glenn is good to his word. Like I think it was the second preseason game for the Jets. Justin Fields played 10 snaps of those 10 snaps. Breece hall played five. Isaiah Davis played three. Braylon Allen played two. Like I know some folks are going to say that it's just preseason, but like preseason usage, these are coaches establishing their usage patterns that they are going to stick to in the regular season like a committee back on a Jets offense that is not going to be one of the higher scoring offenses in the league. Like I'm just out on Breeze hall at a high end RB2 price and I know some people are going to look at that and say, well he was being drafted as an RB one not so long ago. I'll take him as a high end RB2. Unfortunately, I think we might be looking at like low end RB2, high end RB3 production from Breeze hall this year.
C
Especially when you can get the other part of that committee. At player 98 overall, I'm looking at the real time ADP for Braylon Allen and to me that's the easier shot. That's the cheap investment and who knows how things work out here, how that timeshare ends up working for me. I'm gonna push this ADP even further. The real time ADP of the player going seventh overall. Yeah, that's right, seventh. And I'm not touching them there. And the reason why is I don't have to. It's Christian McCaffrey and I know people are gonna say but he's healthy. Well if he's so damn healthy, why didn't he play any preseason games? If he's so damn healthy, why are we trading for another running back? If he's so damn healthy, then why have I seen him miss big chunks of seasons in the last few years? And I'm not saying Christian McCaffrey isn't one of the great boomer bust risk reward players he is. But why do I have to do that with the seventh player overall? Why do I have to do that when there's guys around there, Justin Jefferson, CD Lamb, Derrick Henry Amman, Ross St. Brown, who are all steady as she goes, right? As range showing up every season. I just don't feel the need to do this and to start my fantasy team this way. And I think when you look back Pat, at the early ADP, when you go back to July of Christian McCaffrey and best ball, he was going around the 14th player overall and I thought cool. That's an interesting discount where I'm in on Christian McCaffrey there now he is the seventh player going off the board. That to me is a bridge too far and I'm just not going there. I'm not going to put that sort of voodoo on my teams. I understand how good he could be. He could be the number one player overall, but he could also be an injury risk that costs you winning games on a weekly basis. And I just can't put myself in a hole to start. Had he been playing in preseason, maybe I feel better about that, but I just don't. And I know they want to put him in bubble wrap, but it's football. Eventually you got to break open that bubble wrap and guys got to play. Let's continue on Pat, and let's talk a little bit more about some of the other busts potentially or guys who might even be traps in those middle rounds before we get there. It's Mark Andrews, who I think has been a pretty solid value at tight end in recent years. But I don't want to chase the 11 touchdowns he scored last season. I just never want to bet on the repetition of a big TD season. And like if you go past the touchdowns, things were kind of bleak for Mark Andrews last year. His 3.2 catches and 39.6 yards per game were his worst numbers since his rookie year in 2018. And Mark Andrews did not eclipse 70 receiving yards in a single game last season. And he only got to 60 yards in four games last year. And like people were dropping Mark Andrews early last year and then we got this touchdown avalanche and and maybe he was still recovering from the season ending injury he had in 2023 and then there was that car accident last August. But I, I feel like we should heed the drop off in catches and yardage and just kind of like steer away from a touchdown dependent profile. Like I don't expect Lamar Jackson to have 41 touchdown passes again this season. He had been at 24 the year before. I think he probably finishes in the low 30s. But that's a haircut of about 10 touchdowns and I think some of those are coming off Mark Andrews total. So I just, I would rather have Tucker Kraft a full round later or Tyler Warren a round and a half later. I just don't think Mark Andrews is a very good value right now.
C
I haven't had a haircut in 20 years. If you want more Mark Andrews conversation? Go watch our video. We just did draft court. So DBRO was on the pro Mark Andrews. Fitzy of course, obviously on the anti Mark Andrews. How did the jury decide? Go watch on our YouTube channel. It's right there under the live video section. All the fantasy draft courts, fun times. And me in a wig, not cut. It's just right there. The wig is in full bloom for you. All right. The guy in the middle rounds that I think is a trap this year is Travis Hunter. And I think I'm not the only one who perceives this as well because I've seen his ADP start to fall a little bit. He's going as wide receiver 31, the 70th player overall right now, somewhere between 70, 72 on the real time ADP and again it's more about the player investment and the other guys going in that similar range. Guys like Ricky Pierce all going in that range who I like a ton more. Calvin Ridley, who's coming off a couple thousand yard seasons right now, he's got a much better quarterback. So if I'm looking for receiver, I just don't know if the young Travis Hunter is the way I want to go. I don't understand necessarily how the impact is going to be with him playing some on the defensive side as well. What the wear and tear in that takes its toll potentially over the season. This is not college football. This is the NFL is a whole different level of the game. And Travis Hunter is a great kid, he's a great story, he's a great talent. But at the same time I just don't feel like he's a great fantasy investment. He's not the number one on his team either to BTJ is still the alpha dog and in a big way in that offense. So for me, Travis Hunter again, Igbuka Pierce, all Matthew golden, all of those guys in that similar range, I find to all have wide receiver 1 potential on their team. Even if something happened to Mike Evans like Buga I think could step in, I think he's that talented. Just don't know if Travis Hunter is there and some of the route running that I've seen from him so far in preseason and some of the tape has not been the best in that transition to the NFL. So that's the guy that I'm passing on. Fitzy, let's go a little bit deeper and let's talk about some of the guys in the late round. Sometimes players are sitting there that we're either familiar with or you've heard good buzz about, but maybe they're not necessarily the best investment. Who fits that bill for you?
A
Josh Downs. And I have, I have discovered a disease within the fantasy football playing community. It's called Jameson Crowder syndrome and it is the addiction to small jitterbug slot receiver types. And there is a real weakness among some people for players of, of that ilk. And I think Josh Downs is a favorite of those people right now. And I just, I don't get it. I kind of didn't like his profile even before this hamstring injury that has sidelined him the last few weeks and that he is potentially going to be slowed by early in the season, maybe at risk of aggravating. The Colts are likely to have mediocre quarterbacking this season. And even though I think people think Daniel Jones is best case scenario for the pass catchers in Indianapolis, like if you are pinning your hopes on Daniel Jones as a reason to draft a player, I think that is fundamentally flawed. Mainly I think Joe, like I think Tyler Warren is going to be a big problem for Josh Downs as far as his target load because Tyler Warren I think is going to get a lot of short area and intermediate range targets because he is a monster after the catch. And like I think he's going to put a dent in Josh Downs target total. Also there's just no touchdown potential with Josh Downs. Seven touchdowns in 31 career games. Like he's not going to score touchdowns for you. So I just, I think there are a lot of headwinds here with Josh Downs. The injury, the presence of Tyler Warren, the lack of touchdowns, the quarterback situation. So avoid Jameson Crowder syndrome and don't draft Josh Downs.
C
All right? For me, the last guy I'm going to talk about that I'm going to avoid. And I know some of you like to live in the past and the member Berries and I remember, I remember, I remember when Cooper cup was good. It was glorious, fantastic league winning Cooper cup in 2021. But unfortunately we can't keep chasing that. He played nine games in 2022, in 2023 he played 12. In 2024 he played 12. Now look, I, I understand that, you know, once upon a time he was great at fantasy football, but now he's moving from a Sean McVeigh offense to a Seattle Seahawks offense not run by Matthew Stafford anymore. Okay? It's run by Sam Darnold and I know Sam Darnold was good last year with the Vikings, but let's not forget everything that was around him for success. And Kevin OConnell is a chip off of that Sean McVeigh block. Now that's not the case in Seattle. Seattle offensive line has giant question marks. The quarterback play has giant question marks. It's JSN and Ken Walker. Maybe a little Charbonnet here and there, but I just can't see investing in Cooper cup and didn't catch a ball in the preseason. Didn't really show out at all. I know it's small sample size, but you know, preseason doesn't mean anything except for the guys that it means everything for. And I want to see guys out there, especially with new teams and how they're gelling with their new quarterbacks and their new offense. And small sample size or not, there's no sample size to go off here with Cooper Cup. There's nothing in the trajectory that says all of a sudden now he's going to be healthy and great again and come back. It just seems like Cooper cup is one of these players that had a glorious run for a couple years and now unfortunately we're on the back end of that and it's unfortunate, but once again, when you're trying to look at the ADP in real time, he is the 104th player to the 113th player going off the board. Depending on the trends of what's happening right now, I think Cam Scatter boo. I think Drake may, I think some other guys in that range are just far more interesting. Heck, maybe even a shot now at Austin Eckler in that range might have more upside and fantasy in their situations than Cooper cup will. So for me, I'm going to be out on Cooper Cup. These are some names that we are out on for a myriad of reasons. But who are you out on in 2025? Drop your comments below. Who are you absolutely not drafting? We love to hear from our audience here. | Draft Range | Player | Main Concern | Recommended Instead | |----------------|----------------------|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|-------------------------------------| | Early (1–2) | Breece Hall | Committee usage & bad offense; not worth high RB2 price | Braylon Allen (late rounds) | | Early (1–2) | Christian McCaffrey | Climbing ADP, injury history, mystery around health | Jefferson, Lamb, Henry, St. Brown | | Middle (5–8) | Mark Andrews | Unlikely TD repeat; declining volume/stats | Tucker Kraft, Tyler Warren | | Middle (5–8) | Travis Hunter | Inexperienced, uncertain offensive role, not WR1, questionable adjustments | Egbuka, Pearsall, Golden, Ridley | | Late (9+) | Josh Downs | Slot profile overvalued, poor QB, injury, no TD upside | Tyler Warren | | Late (9+) | Cooper Kupp | Past-prime, new/severe context, injury-plagued, unproven situation | Cam Skattebo, Drake Maye, Ekeler |
Joe and Pat keep things honest and actionable throughout this episode, cutting through preseason hype, nostalgia, and recency bias. They stress that draft capital should be used wisely and that it's better to pass on names with big question marks—be it due to committee usage, injury concerns, or unstable team environments. If you want a safer path to a fantasy championship in 2025, these are the players to move down (or off) your draft list.
