I'm Jake Hofer and this is Back 40, a limited series show on Wire to Hunt, part of Meat Eaters Podcast Network. Each episode I'll be asking eight whitetail hunting pros a focused, thought provoking question about hunting and land management. How do I hunt the best part of the farm with less than ideal access?
Joey P. Zepia
Should you? That's what the real question is.
The Welsh
Stand without good access is not a good stand.

Welcome in everybody to Fantasy Pros. This is the fantasy football podcast and it is out of bounds. And it's me, Joey P. Joe P. Zepia. With me is my other best friend, the Welsh, because Bogman is stuck in an airport in Tampa. Oh, my goodness. He called me last night, said the weather is terrible. He is not gonna make it to today's show. He went for some fun and this is what happens. You go to Florida and you think it's all going to be fun and games. Next thing you know, Florida starts to take over and we've learned that lesson. It's a hard lesson here on the show. We've been talking about the Florida man all before for the last few weeks. Welsh, what are the chances that Bogman never returns to Texas and just becomes a Florida man?
The Welsh
I don't know. But he told me he will never, ever be flying to Tampa or Florida again. It will be only a drive. He was supposed to come back yesterday and it brought. It brought back like fears we all had when we were in Vegas. There was this like torrential snowstorm around the country that was. It literally delayed every single person's flight. A couple got canceled and Bachmann was texting me, he's out. He has. He's being rerouted to Cleveland and then hopefully get back to Houston. So I don't know. He is. He might. What's that movie with Tom Hanks about the guy that was just stuck in an airport for like eight months and just lives there? That might be Bachmann.
Joey P. Zepia
Forrest Gump. Now the air up there, is that what it is?
The Welsh
I don't remember what it was called, but it's like the real life story about the guy that got just like stuck in just because of like Visa stuff in the airport.
Joey P. Zepia
Just lived in the airport. Yeah. You know, Scott Bogman does have the beard already growing, so we'll see what it looks like by the time he hopefully comes back next week. But we got a lot of football to get to today and a Lot of fun things to talk about including we have a landing spot for Cooper Cup. We have got some rumors floating around. We've also got some intrigue at the running back position I can't wait to talk to Welsh about. And some big news on the Bengals Eagles. Not one but two big signings. But first let's get to Cooper cup because it's fun. Seahawks have officially signed Cooper cup to a three year 45 million dollar contract. Yeah sure, three years. We'll see how that works out. But let's talk about this Welsh because Cooper cup obviously it was over, it was done for him with the Rams. He has had a myriad of injuries over the years. He's at a two year window where he had some of the largest volume we've seen from a wide receiver and it's clearly taken its toll on him and I think a lot of people were buying back in last year and now I feel like there's going to be the potential for people to want to buy in again because every time somebody goes to a new team everybody thinks well it's all going to be better. Now he's in a different environment, maybe we give him another shot. I don't know about you. I am still out on Cooper Cup. I know the ADP is probably still going to be pretty low. I understand the thought process well. JSN's the only other real wide receiver there. One why not Cooper Cup? To which I say, have you paid attention to how few games he has played and played effectively in the last basically three years? So Welsh, what are your thoughts on the Cooper cup signing and your constitution as it were to ReInvest potentially in 2025?
The Welsh
I guess the, you know we were talking last week, one of the things it was like, so what are the Seahawks doing? What? What are you doing trading Geno. Then you're signing Darnold and you traded DK and now you brought in Cooper Cup. It's been kind of hard to figure out so I guess it's maybe coming together a tiny bit. But like everybody at Nauseum has said the same thing and I don't disagree. It's like they're all slot guys. Like you took another like prominent slot wide receiver with jsn. So again what is the plan? Are you going to just bring. Is it like Bobo is going to go on what, like what are you going to do on the outside? Are you going to have both of these guys just be the slot Kings? I'm not 100% sure his ineffectiveness of separation Was on point last year. I mean, that's why, you know, he wasn't getting targets and his health is in question. I do think this has the potential to be a boost for his fantasy value. I'm just not sure it's going to be like, there was a point last year, remember, where some people were like, hey, he's going to be a big breakout. He's going to be one of the best values out there. I'm really not sure that that's going to happen, but I do think there's an opportunity for targets. Darnold, good quarterback. I like him there, but like, like, where is he at? Do you know? I'm going to look real quick.
Joey P. Zepia
Well, while you look at that, I'm, I'm, I'm chuckling because the air up there is a Kevin Bacon movie where scouting the, the potential basketball players, I want to say in Africa. And that is not. It's the terminal. That's the name of the Tom.
The Welsh
It is the terminal. Yeah. But I would like to air up there.
Joey P. Zepia
I like him, maybe have a layover in an African nation and perhaps become a basketball scout. I think that would be a really interesting turn for Scott Bachmann at this juncture in his career.
The Welsh
A five foot eight, you know, the flat three pointer. Yeah, yeah, I guess. Yeah. Bogman look good with the beer. They'd be like, Luca, you know, he's like, no, no, no. Cooper cup, by the way, currently on ECR over on Fantasy Pros. We've got ranks up. You guys can check it out. He's 104th overall, 43rd at wide receiver. I kind of got to tell you, I think, like, that might be a value as long as he doesn't push inside the top 36. Like, like what, what would you project that? Like targets? Like what. What is the positive or negative to Cooper cup in Seattle right now? Outside of like figuring out what the hell the going to be, you know.
Joey P. Zepia
I, I just think the players washed and it's something that I think we all learned the hard way this year in a very short period of time. With the trade deadline where DeAndre Hopkins went to the Chiefs and did nothing and Mari Cooper went to the Bills and did nothing, and Deontay Johnson went everywhere and did nothing. And I think we all just look at each other going, well, maybe sometimes these things just end. And even though they go to situations that appear better for them, maybe on paper, sometimes not all of it, but sometimes that is a very, I think, dangerous road to go down right now. Jalen McMillan's going near him. Jacoby Meyer is going to Khalil Shakir. I'm taking all those guys over him. I'm probably taking Juwan Jennings going after him. Michael Pittman Jr. Probably after him as well. Keenan Allen hasn't signed yet. I would probably take Keenan Allen over him as well. So Cooper cup again. Just because a guy gets a fresh start doesn't mean it should be a restart for him. On your fantasy invest, you know, it's been great.
The Welsh
If they had, you know, like a wide receiver, like, I don't know, like a DK Metcalf who could stretch the field. That's the thing that you're missing. If you only had. If they only could have acquired a wide receiver that can stretch the field. I don't have a problem with two guys that are going to play like short yardage and try to get yak and stuff. But who's going to stretch the safeties out on that team right now? Jsn I don't think he's going to become their deep option. So that is kind of weird.
Joey P. Zepia
Well, we'll see what happens. I mean, there's still plenty of time. And there's also that little thing called the NFL draft. We've got more. Actually. There's a fantasy move that I actually really do like, like from NFL free agency. We're going to talk about in a second. Debro saying Matthew golden to Seattle. Don't you dare put that evil on him, Ricky Bobby. I want Matthew golden going to a much better situation than that. Let's go to Black Raptor's question here. Black Raptor, by the way, I believe the winner of our MLB show draft from last week on Twitch here on the channel. Make sure subscribe we are live here on the Twitch again, Twitch TV Fantasy pros, the first one we did over there. We're gonna do a lot of NFL drafts on the Twitch this year. They have a Dynasty question. Not necessarily need a running back, but I got offered Bijan Robinson for my 2025 first round pick and my 2025 third round pick in the Dynasty draft. I'm ninth overall in every round. Do I accept? I say yes. It's a good running back class. But Bijan Robinson is on the precipice of becoming an absolute superstar and he's already shown you that he can do it. You don't know where these other guys. I mean, it depends on what your draft is too. Like if a draft is before, usually it's after the NFL draft, but I would be taking Bijan and giving up that extra third round pick in a second. How about you, Welsh?
The Welsh
Yeah, this one's not even a question because it's the ninth pick. Let me, let me throw a little curveball maybe. Would you do it for the first overall pick and the, and the three? Because I think I would.
Joey P. Zepia
Because like if you said it's Genti or Bijan Robinson who I want next year and the next two years it's probably Bijan. And Gendy is smaller too. He's only five, eight. You know, we, we don't know how it's going to all work out. I'm very cautiously optimistic about it. But I'm taking the proven guy who is still very young, who's in a situation where we know where it is, we know what the quarterback is, we know what it's going to look like and there's no questions. I, I don't like a lot of questions. Now the Denver Broncos, they had questions at tight end but they answered it with Evan Ingram comes over from the Jaguars two year deal. I love this because Evan Ingram is the perfect fit for a guy with a short a dot IN the quarterback there, Bo Nix. And to me I'm looking right now at where he's listed. He's the 10th tight end on Fantasy Pro's rankings right now. I think I feel better about taking him than I do about David and Joku at 8, Travis Kelsey at 9, maybe not, but John who Smith. Like as good as it was last year. I don't know if we're necessarily locked into that being a copy and paste situation year over year. We. Where do you stand with this Evan Ingram signing? Because I actually really like this one and to me this is one that could rebirth his fantasy value. Because last year there's a lot of injuries, a lot of inconsistency. I feel like this is the perfect fit when you're looking for Evan Ingram who is supposed to just be a guy who could even end up being the second biggest target getter in this offense.
The Welsh
Yeah, by the way, a big plus for people coming and hanging out. We got the, the king of bros Dbro in the chat and hanging out with us and Debro had put in here, Ingram would be a top five tight end and I think that's on the table here. I think maybe the only question is about that offense and how they separate targets. You know, that was one of the problems sometimes you would have is like obviously Cortland Sutton would get like a decent amount of those targets, but then it would Just be like seven other wide receivers, the balls flying everywhere. There wasn't a concentrated focus on targets. Maybe Ingram will provide that and they'll start to hone it in a little bit because I didn't want to. The only thing I never loved was how Bo Nix or how they ran that offense being like a Chiefs light, you know, where every single weekend it's eight different players getting a target. But Evan Ingram is built for a massive amount of targets. There's some touchdown equity in there, Bo Nix being able to move around the pocket. This is like an awesome on paper fit and I think there's a lot of upside. I guess we just need to see how the offense is going to readjust and make him a focal point in the offense because I'm not really, you know, sure how much Bo Nix is going to have that be a big, a big spot in as far as his targets go outside of Cortland Sutton. But I'm hopeful and I kind of agree. I think this could lead to him being a top five tight end this year.
Joey P. Zepia
Here's a question from prime here. What about Mims in the offense after a great finish to the season sleeper in 2025? Again, I just worry about the target volume. I just think Ingram comes in all over. I think that Mims will get a couple shots here and there. Like he's maybe a flex worthy guy in certain situations but I don't feel good about him on a weekly basis in terms of the target share that he's getting in the offense.
The Welsh
Ingram and actually make this worse. He'd actually make this situation worse because like Debro said in here it's another thing. It's what the packers do. What's so I screamed about it last year, all year on these shows, Joe was they just scheme out. It's like you would put, what was it, Wicks and Watson together and then you put Reed and I'm forgetting the like they would always do those stupid little scheme wide receivers and never have constant guys. It's going to make it worse if they end up doing that if with the Broncos continue to do that for a guy like Mims. Because you not only now have Sutton who's going to get a regular set of targets, it's now going to be Ingram. So no, I don't think it's good for Mims at all unless they committed to him getting out of these stupid like you know, scheme rotations.
Joey P. Zepia

All right, so while we were away last week, some RBs started resigning and, and acquiring and all this stuff. So Kareem Hunt goes back to the Chiefs, which, it's funny because I Remember having a conversation about Isaiah Pacheco? I don't know. It was on this show or another show. We were talking about. I, oh, I know. I was a guest of the CBS podcast and we were talking about Pacheco. Somebody was asking that question. I was like, I would rather take the picks over Pacheco going into next year. And that was before Kareem Hun signed. Then you had Jordan Mason who played terrific in circumstances for the 49ers last year. When called upon, he goes to the Vikings. The only thing ahead of him is Aaron Jones, who is an older running back. And then Rico Dowdle, formerly of the Cowboys, goes on a one year deal to the Panthers, which I don't think is the, you know, necessarily what everybody had on their bingo card. So of these three running backs who landed in these three spaces, who's the most tempting to you to invest in in 2025? Because Chuba was very good last year, Aaron Jones was very good last year, and Kareem Hunt kind of had to step in and be the guy while Pacheco was out. So it's not like these three names couldn't be useful this season.
The Welsh
Man, I think this might be just a toss up because I think Kareem Hunt resigning seems like absolutely detrimental to Isaiah Pacheco. One of the things that could come out of this though, and pretty clearly is like Pacheco's injury or coming back from injury last season could have just stunted him from volume because he just disappeared. He went the wrong way. It was like he came back, he got carries and then he just started tailing down and we. I didn't know what the hell was going on with this. So like in theory, Kareem Hunt looks like it could be the best, but I think it just might be another piece of insurance as Pacheco gets healthier. So I wouldn't be surprised if Pacheco's carries go back up. I want to say Jordan Mason is the most interesting. They gave him a two year contract. The only problem is like Aaron Jones is not going to unseat it. Just, you know, maybe he goes from whatever, you know, 16, 15, 16 touches a game down a tiny bit. I'm just not sure Jordan Mason's ever going to be able to get massive volume. But you are putting a rookie quarterback in there. Maybe you want to establish a little bit more on the run. Both of these guys can catch out of the backfield. I'm not in on Rico. This is Chuba's backfield. Chuba is Going to roll here. So I guess if I had to rank them, it would probably be Mason Hunt and then Rico. But I really think we got to see how this all plays out. Mason is the one guy I think that could completely take over a backfield of all of these players.
Joey P. Zepia
Yeah, I think Mason, there's father man, friend of the show here, friend on our discord too. Talking about Mason. I can see myself having some shares of Rico and Mason because I know the ADP is going to be less. I'm somebody who goes after wide receiver early, so taking shots at rb, you know, you never know what happens here. And you know, with Jonathan Brooks in that situation in Carolina too, I mean, it's so unfortunate because he was gonna be the next big thing potentially. And then, you know, two ACL tears to the same knee. I, I, I'd be surprised if he ever played the NFL. And I know that's just depressing. I don't want to be depressing. It's just not something that happens. Like Thomas Davis had two torn ACLs and came back and played. I think there's not a lot of names out there. There's just not a lot of guys where you have the double tear and it works out for you NFL career no matter how young or old you are.
The Welsh
He was going last year. Do you remember how high he was going in drafts? Like he was, oh, Jonathan Brooks. Oh, Jonathan Brooks.
Joey P. Zepia
And do you recall the conversations, I know Derrick Brown does of me yelling at people and talking about, well, you know, look, maybe week 10 is when you get him at the most, like, that's the best case scenario. And everyone thought I was crazy. I was like, week 10, maybe week 11, 12, that that might be your best case scenario. And people are putting way too much in him.
The Welsh
And I think going ahead of Chuba, he was going ahead.
Joey P. Zepia
Oh, yeah.
The Welsh
I mean, it just, I mean, hindsight.
Joey P. Zepia
Here, but, you know, and Deborah brings up the point about Pacheco on being fully healthy. Well, Pacheco doesn't have a great track record of being healthy. The style in which he plays and the frame that he has, that hasn't been great. And it is something I think we all have to kind of, you know, wrap our minds around a little bit too. By the way, I was just thinking this, you know, do you think that Bogman didn't come today because he was worried because you're talking about Masons and it reminded me of Mason. Rudolph did come back to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Do you think he just wanted to avoid the show? Just not to. To talk about that or any other potential Steeler quarterback signing. You think he was like, oh, I know I'll go to Tampa and get stuck in the airport and then I won't have to talk about the Steelers quarterback situation.
The Welsh
If you were on the, if, if anyone was like watching live on the show or re. Watched it over on Twitch, you would have seen it was just like news, news, news, news. Signing signings were just happening left and right live on the show. You hundred percent know he was terrified that Aaron Rodgers is going to sign a deal. But at this point, you know, I mean, just to talk about it for a second, it seems from all the news that's out there that it's Minnesota or bust, like you said. I don't know if you saw that rumor that it was like, if Minnesota doesn't come to terms, he might just rebuke the others.
Joey P. Zepia
And just literally the Brett Favre.
The Welsh
Said he should sign there. Favre was like on some show and was like, he should sign with Minnesota.
Joey P. Zepia
Like, okay, yeah, okay. Yeah. Well, I don't know if I'm taking any advice from Brett Favre about anything. I don't know if that's the best idea. No, just saying. Also in the rumor mill, speaking of Aaron Rodgers, as you mentioned, the Vikings are seriously discussing that possibility. Jameis Winston is going to meet with the Giants on Tuesday. We'll see how that goes. And the Eagles are open to trade talks involving Dallas Goddard. And I thought that one was a little curious here. I didn't quite get that. But the Eagles are in a situation where they're going to have, I think, 20 draft picks in the next two drafts because of all the guys that have gone away in free agency and all the things they've done. And I do know Howie Roseman is pretty dangerous with those draft picks. I think that's pretty terrifying for the rest of the league to give him that much draft capital work with. However, I was surprised that Goddard was potentially on that block. Any landing spots in your mind that a team that could benefit could use some tight end help potentially in 2025?
The Welsh
Oh, that's interesting. Yeah. You know, the one thing I was going to say real quick before that is that I think the Eagles are taking a little bit of that 49ers approach as well. I mean, Niners are a test case. Look at what they're doing. They're just, they're just depleting, depleting across. They're just selling everybody. It feels like they're selling for nothing. They Just sold away Jordan Mason. They've. They're. Half of their defense is gone because you've got to get your young draft picks. You've got to build them up so they can have replacements when these bigger guys are needing contracts and so you can avoid paying these big contracts. So I think that might be part of like a need scenario knowing that, you know, maybe they're going to bring in a young guy. They're not going. They don't want to pay him and they want to like clean up the books a little bit. I actually like D. Rose down there. Indianapolis. I think Indianapolis would be a really good spot for him. I would imagine Goddard is going to want to. Because I think you could play out like there's, you know, half a dozen kind of non winning teams out there that you could go to. Indianapolis is kind of on the precipice.
Joey P. Zepia
Jacksonville too, now there's a void at the tight end position.
The Welsh
Sure.
Joey P. Zepia
I think Jacksonville will be an interesting one too for somebody to come in and Duvall and remake this team a little bit. You know, we all know what's going on there.
The Welsh
All right, cringies.
Joey P. Zepia
So those are the rumors. Let's add on to non rumors the facts. The Bengals made some big news. They spent some money. Jamar Chase, four years, 161 million dollar contract extension. He is the highest paid non quarterback in NFL history. Good on him. I mean that dude absolutely balled out last year and my God, if there isn't a good reason to look at that and say this is what happens when guys are playing for contracts, I don't know what is. I mean it was spectacular. But the surprise is that they got the T. Higgins deal done too. Four years, 115. The Bengals are still hoping to sign Trey Hendrickson. I think they will. I think they're going to continue to figure this out. I don't know what else is going to be on that defense. But we are right back to where we were last year going in, which is we have Jamar Chase, T. Higgins and we have Joe Burrow. I think this is going to be a really interesting scenario here because I expect the Chiefs to take a step back. I think that division is going to be much improved again year over year and far more competitive. I don't think it's this cakewalk to a bye week for the Chiefs into two home playoff games next year. I just don't see that happening. Everybody's a year older. And I also think that you're looking at potentially here that the window for The Ravens, the Bills, and perhaps the Bengals could not get better in terms of like, look, we've got our arsenal of weapons. It's time to really make that push. So what do you think about these two signings here and the upside for maybe even a Joe Burrow MVP with all these weapons? If they say healthy, yeah, I definitely.
The Welsh
Think that's on the. The mvp. Like, it might be really. I don't know what, you know, some of those early lines are going to look like, but that would be a good one to throw. And also the division I think you're kind of alluding to is like becoming maybe more obtainable. The Steelers look like they're on kind of a downtrend right now. They're trying to pick up the pieces. The Browns are obviously on that. So it's like if it' a two horse race, I actually think like resigning getting Chase done with Higgins was the key. Like, not that you wouldn't obviously want to like resign Jamar Chase, but it would feel maybe like the tiniest bit empty. Like, oh great, we got Chase done. But then you got this big hole of what's going to happen with T. Higgins to get them done. At the same time, I think was key because it is in a ridiculous one two punch and Joe Burrow needs it. He needs those targets. They want to get that passing game going. So I think it's a good controllable offense. I think they need to probably put a big heavy focus in the draft on defense. But yeah, I mean, I don't know, like you said that like the Chiefs are kind of even trending down like the AFC is. It's a little open right now and one or two moves away. You know, the Bengals resigned. They got their big core pieces, but you know, they shock everybody and maybe, you know, hit on a good draft pick defensively or maybe make a trade. It seems like they're one piece away from being.
Joey P. Zepia
I mean if they can, if they could do what the Eagles did last year and just nail those, those, you know, nail two secondary picks in the first two rounds. If you do that, that would be. That'd be swell. Like that's exactly what you want to do. Let's take another question here and we'll talk more about the rankings of T. Higgins across the board on some other players too. This is from Wayne Wright. I have a championship winning dynasty team. One of my league mates mentioned he might trade Derrick Henry for my 112 pick. What do you think? I've got Saquon Bijan, Brian Robinson, Charbonnet and Tyler Algier. I was thinking of keeping my pick to get a good future RB. It is a good draft for the RBs. That is a tougher one because Henry's probably got one more good year for sure. I think in him maybe a second one it's a little trickier. Welsh, where do you stand with this one112 you're gonna miss out on. Look, it's not an elite quarterback class, right. So for your three quarterbacks are gonna go. You probably get the tight end to go. You'll probably get four wide receivers. So you are probably looking at, you know, Genti's never gonna make it to your 12. I don't think Hampton gets there. Is it the Caleb Johnson's of the world? I feel like that's kind of where.
The Welsh
Well I can. I'm looking at. We also have rookie ranks if you want to check it out. Pretty good almost. It's a little over 30 experts as well on, on fantasy pros you can go check it out. Under NFL rankings you can select rookies and at 12 it's Cam Ward but right above is Caleb Johnson. So Caleb Johnson is ranked as the 11th overall player. But you know that's going to be kind of tough to hope for here. I mean I don't know, maybe someone reaches for like a Travis Hunter and it drops him. Caleb Johnson's the most likely but the other one would I think more likely is like a Cam Scatter Boo. I think Scatter Boo is probably the running back that you're looking at. I know Bogman's really want him.
Joey P. Zepia
Derrick Henry because fun but I just don't know if he can do it in the NFL.
The Welsh
So here's the only other kind of caveat though. Look at those running backs he had. How many can you start? How many can he get in there? Because he had one. Bijan and then Brian Robinson Saquon last.
Joey P. Zepia
Year again, you know when we get to that threshold I want to double check my numbers here. But you know we talked about it ad nauseam last year about the 417 touches of Christian McCaffrey from the regular season for the playoffs two years ago. Last year 345 attempts. During the season for receptions he had 33. So we're pushing there and by the time we get to playoffs obviously well over 400. So we're. We're in that same range with Saquon and typically going into the next year that does not work out well for guys staying healthy. So if you are kind of in this win now mode a little bit too. Like, you just won. Maybe you go all in one more year, try to win one more time. I don't think that's a bad idea. You're getting Derek Henry. Like, Derek Henry could continue to just blow everybody's mind and just play way longer than anybody could possibly fathom because he's such a freak of nature. I'm just. I'm very willing in this class to, in my dynasty leagues to move as high up as I possibly can with all the draft capital I can or as far out of this draft is into next year, because there's a few, a handful of players I like. But I'm just not overall in love with the depth of this class like I have a couple years ago. Like, I remember drafting Khalil Shakir in like the fourth, fifth round of a dynasty rookie draft a couple years ago. Just, you know, always seeing these guys, I was like, oh, this guy's really interesting. Or Pacheco's really interesting. There are all these prospects I really like. Like, I don't have that same feeling about this draft class. I want to go back to T. Higgins for a second Welsh, because I want to get your feeling right now. In the consensus rankings on fantasypros.com he is the 12th wide receiver. Feels about right for how much they throw the ball. And if you're a fantasy manager, you want the Bengals defense to suck because you want to be in shootouts and you want all the fantasy points you possibly can get. So don't root too hard for that to change. JSN is at 13, Lad McConkey at 14, Terry McLaurin at 15. Do you think T. Higgin should be drafted over those three guys?
The Welsh
Oh, man. You know, Lad is. Lad is the one that jumps out to me where I'm like, it's super, super close.
Joey P. Zepia
Not Terry. I mean, Terry was pretty good last year and Jaden Daniels in year two.
The Welsh
Yeah, no, I mean, all of them are good. It was just lads specifically kind of jumped out. To me, I think you can. You can buy that. I mean, you know, Terry's like, he was. I mean, built a mountain of his fantasy value off of those huge, huge plays. And it's. If Those big, like, 50 plus yard touchdown plays are similar to, like, touchdown equity, like, how, like, how much can you count on repeatability? The other two guys, you know, working out of just, like big, you know, slot targets left and right. I guess what I'm getting to is like, T. Higgins to me is like the complete Wide receiver. He's not built off of just having to be big, long, deep plays. He's not built off of just having to play out of a slot. Even if he's a wide receiver too, he plays as a wide receiver one also, by the way, with Terry like they did bring Debo in and we'll have to see what Debo does with some of that offense. But I think, I think the tier makes sense. But I do believe like him being above it is the play.
Joey P. Zepia
I think it's very close. I think over Jackson, Smith and Jig, but I'm good with over Lad. It depends on format. If it's straight ppr, I'm listening. But if it's half, I want the touchdown equity that Higgins is going to bring. I think.
The Welsh
Think yeah, yeah, I completely agree with that.
Joey P. Zepia
McLaurin. For me, that's the dice one because I just, I love, I'm in love.
The Welsh
With the quarterbacks, but Debo doesn't. Well, I mean, what about Devo being in there? You know, I think people's gonna pull his James Harden, he's to have his fat suit. He's gonna try to be Superman now. He's gonna play for his team.
Joey P. Zepia
He's gonna be. He's gonna show up to camp, best shape of his life.
The Welsh
He's gonna look jacked.
Joey P. Zepia
He might. But I also remember all the Diami Brown moments and all the other guys that they've used the case, all these other, other guys that have been around and also how well they utilize the running backs last year too, and how important at times that you had Austin Eckler being important in that offense too. McLaurin for me, again, I probably take over Higgins, but it's very close. I probably go McLaurin, Higgins, like really close together. Then probably JSN and McConkey, but that is a sweet spot too. So for you and Bogs who still like to take those running backs early, you know, if you take a. A Saquon or a Bijan, right, and you. It loops back around to you in the third round, you're probably looking at this group of wide receivers to double up. I think that's actually a nice way to build in 2025. It might even be my preference to build if I don't get Chase or Jefferson. Like, that's very, very intriguing to me. What do you think of that in terms of. I know it's early to think about builds, but it kind of makes sense. Like if you are going to go early running back, man, like this group of Wide receivers I didn't even mention. Also in this grouping right after Mike Evans, Garrett Wilson, Devonte Adams, all of which are in pretty good spots as well.
The Welsh
Well, looking at half PPR too, there's this big hole though. So looking over on fantasy pros ranks, you've got like Barkley and Bijan at the top, but inside the top 12 after that, I guess you have Jameer Gibbs and then Derek Henry. But there's only four running backs in there. So I guess that build that you're talking about for me would probably end up having to be like, I get Jameer Gibbs at 5 or 6 and then I come back around and I'm staring at, you know, again, maybe like an AJ Brown, maybe Malik Neighbors falls a little bit or Bucky Irving specifically. And then I would jump in into that third round. And that's where you start looking at like JSN T. Higgins and stuff like that. I could definitely, I could definitely see it though. There definitely is a hole between like 5 and 20 of only like just a couple running backs that make a lot of sense. So, you know, high pick, I'm more likely to look at Bijan and Barkley and then come back around and do what you're talking about. Yeah, it's going to be fun to start playing around with some of these builds.
Joey P. Zepia
Yeah, I'm still Chase. 1 Jefferson 2 I don't care if it's JJ McCarthy or whoever. It ends up like I'm, I'm still. Yeah, what he did last year with Sam Darnold, you know, Jefferson's four on the rank. I know. It's absurd to me.
The Welsh
Well, for you, so.
Joey P. Zepia
Exactly. So I'll, I'll draft four. That's fine. You want to give me my spot? I'll take four any day. I like Bijon. After that, then Barkley. And I know that's going to be unpopular, you know, but I, I keep going back to the data, and the data keeps telling me it was a glorious, magical, wonderful season for Saquon Barkley. But we crossed that 400 touch threshold. The next year is bad. The data tells you every single year it's bad. Guys don't come back and play at the same level. And I, I know at times they tried to, you know, measure him out. And I know they did skip him one game there at the end. And I, I know I, I get all that. But it doesn't matter. You know, history dictates otherwise to us. Even Derek Henry wasn't immune to it. So that to me is something to keep an eye on and watch. But again, one of the great things about this, we can continue to have conversations on our Discord, too. So if you want to interact with us here on Twitch, you can. But you can also do it on our Discord, where it's also free fantasypros.com chat. And there's lots of fun shows going on. Warm and fits. At 5pm Eastern the first Tuesday of every month, they're doing AMAs. You can ask them questions about Dynasty or Redraft too, if you want. And it fits in bogs 5 Eastern every third Tuesday of the month. So spend your Tuesdays talking football on our Discord. Again, fantasypros.com chat. That's the place to go. And when you're a premium member of Fantasy Pros, you get access to a whole lot more. Look how happy I am. Look how I'm pointing.
The Welsh
Look at you.
Joey P. Zepia
Right here to the Discord. That's what it looks like. Oh. Oh. That's what I'm saying. Oh, look at his discord. Oh, it's unbelievable, baby. Oh, it's pretty good.
The Welsh
Seeing these shots from the photo shoot pop up and artwork is just.
Joey P. Zepia
They're pretty ridiculous.
The Welsh
It's phenomenal.
Joey P. Zepia
They are a good time. All right. Speaking ridiculous, Scott Bogman sends us a lot of reels. That's that. He's our friend. This is what he does. He's that friend. Every friend group has that one person that sends more reels than everybody else. And, you know, sometimes you then start trolling around on things, and when you click on one thing, then all of a sudden it just gets in your algorithm. And I don't know what I was looking at, but, you know, it got to a point where. And don't get afraid, everybody. This is just fun stuff.
The Welsh
I'm a little scared.
Joey P. Zepia
This is like something. I think it's called Epic wars, right? Where they take, like, Roman soldiers, you know, a thousand Roman soldiers against 20 Civil War soldiers and things like that.
The Welsh
Like the computer generated thing.
Joey P. Zepia
It's the computer generating things.
The Welsh
I watched one last night. Oh. Oh, yeah. It's like. It's this game, and it'll be like. Yeah, It'll be like 100 hulks versus 1 million scarlet witches or something like that.
Joey P. Zepia
Yes. Well, this was.
The Welsh
I watched this one. This is.
Joey P. Zepia
Okay, all right.
The Welsh
I watched.
Joey P. Zepia
I don't want this one. But this one made me laugh because it was 100 Harry Potters versus a million Kermit the Frogs. So, Kermit, I want everybody in the chat. And if you're watching on the YouTube channel too. As you're watching, I want you to make a prediction here. Who do you think would win this matchup? Because I was watching it yesterday and I'm thinking to myself, well, Harry Potter's magic. So why can't Harry Potter, you know, is a hundred of them. That's got to be enough spells. It's got to be enough, you know, Avada Kedavra. Depends on how fast, Right?
The Welsh
But see, I didn't like that they were running right here. It's like, no, Harry, don't even run at all. Get space between your Kermit. You're right. And then space between.
Joey P. Zepia
Can we get that on a shirt?
The Welsh
You always put space between your Kermit. So let's see now Potter is just destroying. In this angle, it looks like, hey, Harry Potter is doing some work on Kermits. Kermits are coming in. But then when it starts to span out, you remember it's a million Kermits that they're blasting about. I don't know, roughly like each Harry Potter looks like he's getting a couple. But look at that. Look at that. I mean, it's just overwhelming.
Joey P. Zepia
It's too many Kermits. I think they went too many Kermits. I think that's the problem because you could see eventually the Kermits are just enveloping the Harry Potters.
The Welsh
And now there's a mountain of dead Kermits that only a few Harry Potters are on. And look. But look at the distance around.
Joey P. Zepia
Numbers are.
The Welsh
It's a lake of kermits.
Joey P. Zepia
I was also like to see this with other Muppets, like how many animals? You know, I also wanted to know how many Miss Piggies does it take to destroy a million Kermits? And I think the answer might be one, just one. Because as you can see, Harry Potter eliminated 619,000. But eventually all the Harry Potters were killed off.
The Welsh
I want to know what game this is where people do. I don't know, million of these.
Joey P. Zepia
But I started me thinking too. Like, I want to see, like do we do content team versus dev team? Like can we create powers for ourselves? Or even like the football guys against the baseball guys here at Fantasy Pros? I think it's so unreal Engine is what Callie, our producer is saying.
The Welsh
But I want to know what were Kermits doing though, by the way? What exactly were the Kermits doing to the Harry Potters?
Joey P. Zepia
I think they just overwhelmed them. They just over rubbing. Rubbing his.
The Welsh
Rubbing his little lightning bolt.
Joey P. Zepia
Well, I guess if you have enough Kermits, like, if I'm the kermits. My strategy is all of us get up there on Harry Potter as much as you can. All you got to do is cover the mouth. Right. Because you can't say the spell. It's kind of a problem. Right.
The Welsh
I don't know, Kermit. It's pretty evil.
Joey P. Zepia
Yeah. I'm just saying. So there you go. I just wanted to bring that to. It's funny that you saw this one. Some of them are really interesting and then some of them are really stupid. This was one that was really stupid in it.
The Welsh
And it's always like. It's like, you know, 50 versus a million or something like that. I Want to see 50 Joe Pizza PIAs vs vs 50 Mike Mayers and see who wins.
Joey P. Zepia
Can we do that for leading off, which by the way, is coming to Twitch this week. So leading off, noon, two days this week. Because we've got actual baseball to talk about. So we're doing like a little early leading off. Now the question is, Welsh, will you wake up that early to watch the baseball games in Japan tomorrow?
The Welsh
Yeah. What time isn't it?
Joey P. Zepia
Like, we're at noon, the game time. I don't. Eastern time. I don't even know. It's like 4 o' clock my time.
The Welsh
So I might just never go to sleep. PM Eastern or something like. No, I probably won't.
Joey P. Zepia
No.
The Welsh
It'S tomorrow. That's tomorrow. That would be up at. Oh, God. 30. Yeah, I think it's some ridiculous time.
Joey P. Zepia
It's 3:30am on the way.
The Welsh
On the west coast, which I am PST right now, so. No.
Joey P. Zepia
Yeah. And I. I still. For the love of God, Will. It hurts my brain when I consider how you guys do the time change in Arizona where you don't change the times, you just change time zones. I. I just.
The Welsh
It's. It is stressful because I'm like, worried I'm gonna miss things because now everything is an hour back for me. We don't change our clocks like you guys do, but, like, things have changed. So I'm always worried trying to decipher. It's. It's a problem. Mountain standard to Pacific, I'm at right now.
Joey P. Zepia
Here's one.
The Welsh
Let's lock it down.
Joey P. Zepia
Down 2000. Ryan Wormley's against one Mike Mayer. De Bro's taking mayor. I gotta say, like, mayor fights dirty. You know, I think he would find a way to do this.
The Welsh
Like, I'm one. Mayor is plenty, you know, 2,000, it.
Joey P. Zepia
Was 5,000 Ryan Warmley, maybe. Yeah. So I think, I think that's the funny part.
The Welsh
How many surgery recently, Mayor? Oh, yeah, like one arm.
Joey P. Zepia
Mayor is in fuller recovery from his arm surgery. So there you have it. And of course, if you're watching on our YouTube, make sure you subscribe to the YouTube channel. Drop your comments below too. Who would you take over? T. Higgins? I'm curious, because you got JSN, you got Terry McLaurin, you got Lad McConkey, you got maybe even a Devonte Adams. I mean, he's a number two receiver too, last time I checked. So I love hearing from all of you. Let the debate begin here. And of course, if you want to watch us live on out of Bounds, join us on Twitch. That's Twitch tv. Fantasy Pros, we continue to grow for, for our audience over here on the Twitch channel, which has been very cool. FantasyPros - Fantasy Football Podcast
Episode: Free Agent Frenzy: Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Cooper Kupp, and Aaron Rodgers | Out Of Bounds (Ep. 1547)
Release Date: March 17, 2025
In Episode 1547 of the FantasyPros Fantasy Football Podcast, hosted by Joey P. Zepia and Welsh, the hosts dive deep into the latest free agency moves, analyzing the impact of key players like Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Cooper Kupp, and the potential signing of Aaron Rodgers. Despite technical difficulties with co-host Bogman being stranded in Tampa due to severe weather ([00:35]-[01:52]), Joey and Welsh ensure the discussion remains insightful and engaging for fantasy football enthusiasts.
The episode kicks off with an in-depth discussion about Cooper Kupp's recent signing with the Seattle Seahawks on a three-year, $45 million contract ([02:05]-[07:22]). The hosts debate whether Kupp’s move revitalizes his fantasy value or if his history of injuries and inconsistent performances will continue to hinder his effectiveness.
Joey P. Zepia ([03:41]):
"We're going to talk to Welsh about Cooper Kupp because it's fun. Seahawks have officially signed Cooper Kupp to a three-year, 45 million dollar contract. We'll see how that works out."
The Welsh ([04:53]):
"Cooper Kupp obviously was done for the Rams. He's had a myriad of injuries over the years. He's at a two-year window where he had some of the largest volume we've seen from a wide receiver, and it's clearly taken its toll on him."
Despite Kupp’s low ADP (Average Draft Position) at 104th overall (43rd at wide receiver), Welsh remains skeptical about his consistency, citing his limited game time and effectiveness over the past three years. However, Joey sees potential upside if Kupp adapts to the Seahawks' system, though he advises caution.
A significant portion of the discussion focuses on the Cincinnati Bengals' strategic moves in securing their star wide receivers.
Joey P. Zepia ([23:11]):
"The Bengals made some big news. They spent some money. Ja’Marr Chase, four years, 161 million dollar contract extension. He is the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. Good on him."
The Welsh ([26:56]):
"Resigning and getting Chase done with Higgins was key. It's a one-two punch that Joe Burrow needs. They need those targets to get that passing game going. This is a good controllable offense."
The extension of Ja’Marr Chase and the recent signing of Tee Higgins on a four-year, $115 million deal solidify the Bengals' offensive prowess. The hosts predict that these moves could lead to a Joe Burrow MVP season, provided the players stay healthy. They also discuss the implications for fantasy managers, highlighting the increased stability and high target volume of these receivers.
Joey and Welsh shift focus to the running back position, discussing recent signings and their fantasy implications.
Joey P. Zepia ([17:08]-[26:56]):
"Kareem Hunt goes back to the Chiefs, Jordan Mason signs with the Vikings, and Rico Dowdle joins the Panthers. Of these three, who's the most tempting to invest in for 2025?"
The Welsh ([18:16]-[22:16]):
"Kareem Hunt signing seems detrimental to Isaiah Pacheco. Jordan Mason could potentially take over a backfield if Pacheco gets healthier. Rico Dowdle is less predictable, being part of Chuba’s backfield."
The hosts analyze Kareem Hunt's return to the Chiefs as a potential negative for Isaiah Pacheco's fantasy value. Jordan Mason’s two-year contract with the Vikings is seen as the most intriguing, given his performance under pressure and potential to earn more carries if Pacheco regains form. Rico Dowdle’s one-year deal with the Panthers is deemed less attractive due to uncertainty in his role.
The podcast also delves into the swirling rumors around Aaron Rodgers' free agency status and the potential signing of tight end Matthew Golden by the Seahawks.
Joey P. Zepia ([23:11]-[26:56]):
"Aaron Rodgers is being discussed as a potential signee by the Vikings. Additionally, the Seahawks might sign Matthew Golden, a move that could boost their tight end position."
The Welsh ([24:06]-[26:56]):
"Indianapolis could be a good spot for Matthew Golden. Jacksonville also presents an interesting opportunity for tight end upgrades."
Rodgers' potential signing with the Vikings is analyzed, with Joey expressing skepticism about taking advice from Brett Favre regarding player moves. The discussion moves to Matthew Golden, highlighting his possible impact on the Seahawks' offense and his fantasy viability, with Welsh considering Indianapolis and Jacksonville as likely landing spots.
A significant segment is dedicated to fantasy rankings and drafting strategies, particularly focusing on Tee Higgins' position relative to other wide receivers.
Joey P. Zepia ([29:00]-[32:12]):
"In the consensus rankings, Tee Higgins is the 12th wide receiver. Should he be drafted over players like JSN, Terry McLaurin, and others?"
The Welsh ([30:47]-[33:34]):
"Tee Higgins is positioned as the complete wide receiver, not just a slot player. In a half PPR format, his touchdown equity makes him a valuable pick over others."
The hosts debate whether Tee Higgins should be prioritized over other receivers such as JSN, Terry McLaurin, and Lad McConkey. They conclude that Higgins offers a balanced value with both consistency and high-ceiling performances, making him a solid choice in various draft formats.
Listeners contribute questions about specific trades and draft decisions, such as whether to trade Derrick Henry for future picks. Joey and Welsh provide their perspectives, emphasizing the importance of balancing current performance with future potential.
Joey P. Zepia ([27:58]-[28:53]):
"Derrick Henry has shown elite performance but has a history of injuries. Would trading him for future first and third-round picks be worthwhile?"
The Welsh ([28:53]-[29:00]):
"Henry is a robust option if you're in a 'win now' mode, but his injury history makes it a tougher decision."
The conversation underscores the complexity of trading high-performing but injury-prone players, advising fantasy managers to weigh immediate gains against long-term stability.
Towards the end of the episode, Joey and Welsh engage in light-hearted banter and discuss their community interactions on Discord and Twitch. They encourage listeners to join their platforms for live discussions, AMAs, and additional fantasy football insights.
Joey P. Zepia ([36:01]-[42:28]):
"Join us on Twitch and Discord for more live discussions and fantasy football strategies. Engage with us and other fantasy enthusiasts to enhance your league performance."
The Welsh ([36:02]-[36:42]):
"Seeing the community interactions and fan contributions is phenomenal. It's great to have a thriving community supporting the show."
Joey P. Zepia ([03:41]):
"We'll talk about Cooper Kupp because it's fun. Seahawks have officially signed Cooper Kupp to a three-year, 45 million dollar contract. We'll see how that works out."
The Welsh ([04:53]):
"He has had a myriad of injuries over the years. He's at a two-year window with some of the largest volume we've seen from a wide receiver, and it's clearly taken its toll on him."
Joey P. Zepia ([23:11]):
"Ja’Marr Chase is the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. Good on him."
The Welsh ([26:56]):
"Resigning and getting Chase done with Higgins was key. They need those targets to get that passing game going."
Joey P. Zepia ([27:58]):
"Derrick Henry has shown elite performance but has a history of injuries. Would trading him for future first and third-round picks be worthwhile?"
