Welcome in everybody to Fantasy Pros. This is the Fantasy Football Podcast. It is me, Joey P, Joe P. Zeppia Week five is upon us. It's time to look ahead to the waiver wire to more additions and certainly week four had its share of injuries as usual in the fantasy football world and that goodness. Jake Seeley from the Athletic is here to help us get some of the guys and we're going to start with somebody who is the hot topic of not only this waiver wire show, but also the full length waiver wire show which you could also watch on our YouTube channel. Subscribe to the YouTube channel Fantasy Pros It's Woody Marks of the Houston Texans who exploded for 17 carries, 69 yards, a touchdown. He also caught four of his five targets for another touchdown. Huge day for Woody Marks. I was telling people Sunday morning to pick this guy up for free just in case he went off to save themselves some fab budget. But looking at the the numbers, he's still available in more than 75% of leagues. So my guess is people really weren't listening as they should have. But now, now it's going to cost him. So let's talk about Woody Marks performance on Sunday, Jake and let's talk about what it might look like for the rest of the season for him in this Houston Texans backfield after Houston finally gets their first victory of the season.
Jake Seely
Yeah, not only that, I mean they just clearly turn it's happening gif from the office like it was. We saw it during the game. We saw a little glimpse of it last week. The differ some of the other options that people were asking about us and saying you know, should I stash Blake Corum or him or you know, other options like Tyler Algier and it's like it's cool that Corm and Algier get points but the difference being is that Marks could take over without an injury and it actually started to happen and it did happen. I mean we're talking about a 70, almost 30, almost 30 split between him and Nick Chubb and the fact that Nick Chubb even got some of that run late in the game when things were already taken care of. And you saw the explosiveness, which I think the comparison I made coming out of college was Tajie Spears. And that was the thing that kept bringing up, like, if you knew Tajie Spears, Spears was behind Nick Chubb, Tasha Spears would be like 80% rostered. Like, that was the whole point here. And it's finally happening. So the, the upside of his explosiveness, the fresh legs, the fresh ability, and what Nick Chubb is at this point, he won't get 20, 25 touches every single week. And that Houston Texans offense and offensive line will eliminate him at times. But this is somebody that I think is I put behind Trey Benson going forward, but not by much. He'd still probably be in my top 20 where Benson would be like pushing top 15.
Joey P
All right. Obviously the big injury in week four, Jake was Malik neighbors tearing the ACL. He'll be done for the year. Hopefully a speedy, good recovery for him for next season. So it's like the Giants can't have nice things, right? They get a quarterback, they get a W. But what does it cost you?
Jake Seely
Everybody was losing their minds after that first drive.
Joey P
Yeah, I know. It's like that Thanos beam though, right? Well, you got a franchise quarterback, right? What did it cost you? Everything cost me Malik Neighbors Cam scad will test ball 25 times. That's good, right? Let's talk about. Let's talk about Darius Slayton, who could see an uptick in his volume now in the weeks ahead with Jackson Dart. Obviously it's not going to be a very high volume passing game. I think that's probably the best way to put it. I mean, Dart's line was not super fantasy impressive. Now, from the standpoint, obviously of the Giants getting their first W and beating an undefeated team, super impressive. So not taking away anything from the kid, but expectations do have to be tempered. That brings up Darius Slayton, who had three receptions on four targets or 44 yards. So walk me through here. Darius Slayton's value, how much people should spend on him on fab because he's not a replacement for Malik Neighbors. He's just a guy who's going to see some more opportunities in the absence of.
Jake Seely
Yeah. So also, by the way, you remember Iccu iclee curse you. Just to show how far reaching my curse is, my mom texted me Saturday. I have the screenshot. I tweeted it and she said what's the favorite number of your favorite Giants player? And I texted her back and I said, you know, I don't really root for the Giants anymore. And she said, I know, but I know you still like players. And I said, it's one. And I said, yes, seriously, it's one. It's Malik Neighbors. And she said, I only needed a number. So my mom texted me for the first time in years about the damn Giants and who gets hurt. You can blame me. It's all my fault. Darius Slayton. As much as the misery of the Malik Neighbors injury, I just let you know the misery of picking up Darius Slane is going to be possibly there too. Because I will say Darius Slayton might be a 12 week grab and you're dropping him because you brought it up. It's not going to be a high volume passing game. Jackson Dart did look Malik Neighbors a thousand times to start off that game and I don't think he's going to look at Darius Slayton. So that's where we go with this is what if he just starts peppering Wandell Robinson and he was using Theo Johnson, which by the way, if you need tight end, there's a deep one. We're not getting to that. But Theo Johnson could be interesting because it's going to depend on who Dart continues his rapport with. And yes, Slayton could step in. He will be the outside receiver. He's been the leading wide receiver five of his six years, which is just insane to think about with the giants. Good job, 700 yards. But that's the thing. You're probably Getting a wide receiver 4 if he's incorporated enough. So if it doesn't happen in the first two weeks and that's just not Jackson Dart style like it was Russell Wilson's, we move on.
Joey P
All right. Also, you know, Prize, you said for the next couple of weeks probably useful to buy week starting up this week. So the Falcons, Bears, packers and Steelers all on buys this week. So like Slayton might not be as bad as you think. If he can get you double, if he can get you 10 points at a PPR, you take it, you move on and you get it to week six. All right, let's talk about running back. Another one here. Kenneth Gainwell, who late scratch there for Jalen Warren, he was out of the game. And Kenneth Gainwell once again making the most of opportunities. And Caleb Johnson, not so much, just frustrating there. But what a game for Kenneth Gainwell here. Let's talk about this one. 19 carries for 99 yards. He had two touchdowns. He also saw six targets in this offense, caught all six for 35. So a huge day here for Gainwell in this game internationally in Ireland on Sunday morning here on the East Coast. So what does it look like going forward, Jake? Because Gainwell is kind of tough, you know, when Warren comes back, we don't know exactly what happens to Gainwell. Unless you saw enough out of Gainwell where maybe Gainwell is the better of these two guys. I don't know where are we at here with the Steelers running back situation?
Jake Seely
So this is. I wanted to include him for another reason too, is because you just brought up the buys so he's going to slip past because a lot of people when they go look waivers, they look at projected points for the next week instead of what they're coming off of. So gamewell won't even show up. That's the biggest thing. So I don't want people to forget about gamewell if you need running backs and they come out to face the Browns, which isn't the best matchup, but they're back at home. But the question that you asked is the important one is I think you look at the Steelers go back to what they were doing previous years and to start this year where it's kind of more of a 60, 40, 50, 50 split where game one was the lead, Gamewell was getting the short yardage and they started to steer into Jalen Warren and we were all like, oh wow, this is a little surprising because they've never shown this before, that they want Warren to be that guy and then Warren gets dinged up. So maybe this is a like warning sign for them and that's what it's like. You're not going to go out and be like, oh my God, Gamble is going to do that every single week now.
Joey P
Yay.
Jake Seely
No, it's just that Kenneth Gainwell could be an RB3 and as you brought up, we're about to hit buys for a while. An RB3 will have some value where you can plug them into your lineup for a few weeks where that 5050 split is there.
Joey P
I know this is a dangerous game to play, but Kenneth Gainwell is on pace to have more than 50 receptions this year in his offense. Just, just saying like it's something in those PPR leagues you pay attention to in those bye weeks. All right, let's go back to the Giants and any more curses that Jake could possibly throw upon them. And let's talk bit about Jackson Dart here. Now my guess is in most super Flex leagues. He was already at it ahead of time. But if he's still floating around there or as we're talking about now in those single QB leagues, here we are, we're in bye weeks. Is Jackson Dart viable? Especially this week? He's got the New Orleans Saints. That's a pretty good matchup on paper at least.
Jake Seely
Yeah. So I actually. You put this here just for single quarterback too? Well, I actually started him this past week because look like this is just what happens sometimes. I had burrow lost him so my backup plans and there was a quite a few running or quarterbacks that were stacked up on the waivers that like were trash. It was like Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers had a good game surprisingly. But you get my point. It was like Aaron Rodgers and Bryce Young and like those are the worlds. And I'm like, you know what, I'm just going to roll with Jackson Dart because what we saw the rushing upside. He is Daniel Jones. Daniel Jones 2.0. Like I made those jokes. But the truth is is like that's the similar style. Do I think he could be better than Daniel Jones? Absolutely. Maybe not. It doesn't happen. Cool, whatever. But the point is we're talking fantasy and he's going to run design runs. Took it himself. They tried it multiple times in near the goal line where he got the one touchdown. But then they kept trying after that where he didn't get one. And that's the point in fantasy. Like if he could have that game and that was what I brought up too on waivers last week, is like if he somehow has a good game against the Chargers, which we could call that good ish people are going to go nuts for him and he wasn't off the charts. So people aren't going nuts. But they're like, oh, okay, maybe we do have new Daniel Jones. And I think that's why in a single quarterback league you bring up the Saints, there's going to be a lot of matchups. Looking at the Giants scheduler, you could be like, you know what, he should get me a top 15 performance just because of the rushing alone.
Joey P
All right, one more guy to talk about. You're on the program today. It's Cleveland Browns wide receiver Isaiah Bond, who obviously signed with the team late in the training camp period. And against the Lions this weekend he saw six targets. He did catch three of them for 58 yards. And Jerry Judy hasn't really gotten it done. I think Cedric Tillman after a good start is getting a little sort of going back productivity wise in the other direction. The Browns have all sorts of trouble and at some point there will be a quarterback change and things going to change once again. But in that meantime, let's take a look ahead to the future a little bit. Bond is a guy that I've got on my dynasty leagues. When he signed, I immediately went to go pick him up because we all know the talent he was at Texas. He was a very good player, very speedy. Got a lot to offer here potentially. So what could he possibly offer fantasy managers in 2025 going forward?
Jake Seely
Well, and that's the biggest thing. So if Cedric Tillman is out for a while, we have to wait on the news of that injury, like how long it should be. But once he left that game, you talk about Isaiah Bond after this. So this is after Tillman left the game. Same amount of routes as David and Joko and Harold Fannin just behind Jerry Judy. So he is the clear replacement. This is the situation where I was bringing up in waivers and saying this is similar to Isaac Tesla is if injury happens in front of him, they're going to step up and be a top two wide receiver. And you bring up the speed and the ability. I think Isaiah Bond is a lot like Jalen Waddle. And I like, I like Isaiah Bond more than golden coming out of Texas in college. And so that's the appeal. Like, you know, the whole situation, the off the field would have changed everything. He would have probably been a second round, honestly. So that's what you can think of when it comes to Isaiah Bond. Now, of course, if Cedric Tillman's back next week or back in a week or whatever, he might get a cluster and it's going to be a headache because now you still have Cedric Tillman is going to be top two. But maybe you can push Jerry. That being Bond can push Jerry Judy a little bit. Maybe you can see that going forward. But at least while Tillman is out and Joe Flacco's at quarterback, if they turn to Dylan Gabriel, that's going to be the question. This is similar to the Jackson Dart situation is like, okay, now we also expect a more muted passing game, but does he connect more with Judy or more similar to like the Dart situation where like I don't know if we go back to the Giants if people saw that, but they ran out Jalen Hilat a lot because they were giving him another option where he's felt comfortable because Jalen Highlight hasn't been playing all year, but he's been playing with Jackson Dart with the practice squad, which gets overblown I'm not saying, oh, he's immediately going to connect with the guys that they're practicing with. But there's that rapport that's already built in. So there might be the opportunity that if they do turn Dylan Gabriel because he spent a lot of time with Isaiah Bond to start the year before Isaiah Bond started getting worked in. That that's the Rapp. So all that being said, we can hope that we get a wide receiver for value. Kind of Adam going forward again, it's going to depend on Tillman, who's that quarterback, though.
Joey P
Yeah, it's going to see Dylan Gabriel eventually. I think that's one of those inevitabilities. Who knows, Maybe we'll see Shador Sanders.
Jake Seely
You're going to because they did it yesterday. As soon as they went to Dylan Gabriel, we got boom, shout out to Sanders on the sideline, saying it like we're going to see him no matter what. It's just whether or not we'll see him with a helmet on.
Joey P
Yep. Well, we'll find out soon. And of course, these players can help you.
