Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
Welcome in, everybody, to fantasy pros. This is the fantasy football podcast. It is me, Joey P. Joe p. Zapia. Round 2 of the playoffs is here and Jake Sealey is also from the Athletic, fresh off John Cena's final match. So a lot of people can't see John Cena, but Jake Sealey was able to. Jake, before we get into it here, I mean, pretty special moment to be in that arena. Yeah, I'm a big wrestling guy. Have a wrestling podcast myself that I've been hosting the last six, seven years and, you know, certainly a moment in time there. So have you calmed your emotions ever since that? Have you able to take it all in and say your last goodbye to John Cena?
Jake Sealey
I said my last. That was actually my first and last. I had never seen him in person. I've always missed him in person. I've been to a Royal Rumble and it wasn't at the Royal Rumble. It just happened to be that way. And then I was going into it like, you, you're kind of on the same page. I am a little more so than I am, but it's just kind of like, hey, I kind of like John Cena. Like, not indifferent, like a little bit skewed more toward positive, but like a six out of ten. Like, yeah, okay, cool. He's like. And then I got home and I like, like, laying in bed is gonna sound weird, but like, I got home alive laying in bed. It's just like starting to ruminate. How's this going? Just started to ruminate and I'm like, you know what? This actually does kind of suck. I am a little bit sad because you're never gonna see seen a Cena. Like, I'm probably never gonna see a Cena type ever again. It's just kind of so. And this was Nicole. Nicole had to get the sweatshirt.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
It's a nice looking sweatshirt. I'm not gonna.
Jake Sealey
The back of it has all the jerseys. Like, can you kind of see?
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
Oh, look. Yeah, we can. Oh, that's actually dope. That is. Yo, that's that's pretty cool, I'm not gonna lie.
Jake Sealey
Yeah, we got extra large so both of us could wear it. Plus has the date on it.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
So this is what happens. We get married, you share clothes, you share everything. This is it.
Jake Sealey
Well, at least she's not stealing it like we agreed to it ahead of time.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
Ah, that's good. Joint custody, very good Custody that comes later in the marriage. We'll see what happens. Make sure you put in whoever divorce settlements and who gets the sweatshirt. All right, let's talk about injuries. That's going to have a lot to do with the players we're going to see on waiver wires this week. Everything. I mean, we had the Mahomes injury, we had Michael Parson's injury. We had so many injuries.
Jake Sealey
It's six injuries we're talking about. Legit for everybody.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
And all these are contingent, right? So let's first start with the Mahomes injury, okay. Because from a fancy perspective, you are losing one of the QB ones, right? He's say what you will about Mahomes statistically this year. Still been in that conversation. So who are some of the guys that we could stream in Mahomes place they feel good about that might still be floating around waiver wires.
Jake Sealey
So we'll go higher up or people are like, ah, he's not. But he was dropped in a lot of leagues now in the 50% range, even on sleeper. And hey, by the way, the first quarterback this year, including not Mahomes, to throw three touchdowns against the Texans, Jacoby Brissette, bro.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
I started him in a super flex in flex league yesterday and I was like, I have no choice, I have to start him. I'm starting him no matter what. He's always a QB one and my boy still got the job done for me.
Jake Sealey
Well, and that's the thing you said it though is like I had to do it no matter what. Like I had to do it. So a lot of people dropped him and that's why he's down to 50. He gets Atlanta at home this week, which is not the best matchup, but way softer than the Texans. Yeah, much better.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
Well, so I saw Mike Evans get a lot of yards and godwin everybody else. I mean, like, you know, I don't think he landed secondary is what it was in the first six weeks of the season, that's for sure.
Jake Sealey
Now that's the always the testament to what we can talk about for next season is don't try to predict defenses in weeks 14 through 17. At the beginning of the Year. But yeah, on the flip side, it just happened last night and I know it's the Dallas defense, but we just said last week that J.J. mcCarthy had the best game of his career. And then against Dallas looked pretty good again. I mean, definitely kept missing Justin Jefferson. You want to argue which way that one should have went?
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
Talk about you can't see him.
Jake Sealey
Oh my God, that is a really good one.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
But here, guess what, J.J. right there.
Jake Sealey
You just face Dallas, get what they get to do this week. You get to face the Giants secondary. So if you're deeper, JJ McCarthy is your fill in because I'm not trying to get. I lost Mahomes. The point here is that I'm not trying to get C.J. stroud against the Raiders. I'm not trying to get QB18. I'm trying to get somebody who could finish top 10 if everything breaks right.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
All right, let's talk next about the first guy on our list of running back Bam Knight potentially being out this week. So Michael Carter obviously becomes somebody that everybody should be looking at if he's still available.
Jake Sealey
Yeah, especially because. And he's highly available. Going to be like the lead option, demarcato return, but he'll be the pass catching option. And an Arizona Cardinals against the Falcons at home. We just talked about a set, kind of expect them to be in mostly control or at least competitive throughout that game where they will lean more to Carter if they were pass catching a lot. Probably more of a 50, 50 split because Carter would still be involved. Hopefully you're not this desperate. This is pretty much going to be the majority of today's list, Joe, as you know, hopefully you're not in the playoff semifinals in like this this desperate, but we just lost like half the league in Week 15. So you might be Michael Carter, probably an RB3, but startable against the Falcons.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
All right, so startable against the Falcons. Devonte Adams came out with a hamstring injury. We're still waiting for the evaluation of it, but I have to imagine he's at least missing next week. Like I think that is the bare minimum, if not the rest of the regular season. Maybe you get him for the playoffs. Again, this is just my speculation, but I'd be shocked if you have devonte Adams next week. So Puka Dukuwa came out of that game, but it was just cramps. So hopefully that's okay and that situation is all right. But who steps up into that void in that Rams wide receiver core, in your opinion, with Adams potentially out and Adam's a Huge loss. A guy leading the league and receiving touchdowns.
Fantasy Pros Promo Host
Right.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
I mean, that is huge to replace in your lineup.
Jake Sealey
It is. And they have a Thursday night. So I'm with you. There's no way that Adams is playing Thursday Night Football. So you say, all right. Is it be conundom upfield who started to step up and start to show some flashes and Tutu Atwell's back and Jordan Wayne's hand? And we've played that game before. How about the person that headed into that game as tight end five over the last four games, and now he's tight end three over the past five games because he's been better than Brock Bowers now after this past week and Colby Parkinson. Parkinson is your answer. Ahead of him as a fringe tight end one this week. Wanted to put him higher because I mentioned that. That he was top five. He's honestly inside the top ten conversation. Parkinson ever since we had the injury again. Now I'm spacing on his name. I'm looking at the tight end. I can picture his name. The tight end that they've had forever, that keeps getting hurt, that is now out for the season.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
Why can't Tyler Higby.
Jake Sealey
Thank you. Thank you.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
I didn't even think it was that simple. I'm thinking, like, what is this deep. No, no, no.
Jake Sealey
Like, I could picture. It's one of those things when somebody else's name.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
Yeah, it's week 16, bro.
Jake Sealey
Like, I mean, I was about to say that Colby Parkinson's up in the realm of Only behind Trey McBride and George Kittle is where he's been in production, just behind those two. So Trey McBride came into my mind, and then. Because TYLER Higby. Trey McBride. And then I couldn't get to Tyler Higby, as I about to say. But anyway, Croby park is white guys.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
Who catch footballs for a thousand anyway.
Jake Sealey
Yes, but the point being is you can put Parkinson in your flex at this point if you need it. If you are that needy. I mean, there's a lot of teams, Joe, that had Trey McBride and another title had Kyle Pitts both playing in their lineups this week.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
Yeah, well, Kyle Pitts things for a lot of teams, I'm sure. All right, let's talk about R.J. harvey. He had a rib issue. So is Jaleel McLaughlin somebody that we can look to pick up this week? Is he necessary? What are your thoughts on McLaughlin?
Jake Sealey
He's necessary, if nothing else, also to play block. And that's only if RJ Harvey is out. Like, this is the thing like, people are like, I don't need him. He'll be my fourth, fifth, sixth running, whatever. You don't want to see Jahliel McLaughlin surprise and go off for 20 points on your opponent's roster. And I know at this point of the season we are rostering all the backups. If you have, you know, Tyler Algier, if you have Bijan Robinson, Brian Robinson, as we just saw, we thought that we might not have Christian McCaffrey, like all those need to be rostered. But at the same time, if you're rostering way down the depth chart and that you're talking about other backups, like, even for like Seattle with, I would drop Charbonnet to block somebody getting McLaughlin because we know McLaughlin might be an RB2, whereas Charbonnet is. We have the healthy situation with Walker this week. You see, my point is like block if you can before. It's like, even if you don't need McLaughlin.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
All right, so Christian Watson, always a guy that struggles career. This one look, this one is, you know, he went to the hospital with the chest injury. So obviously, you know, our concerns are with his health, for his football life and what's going on there. That's always more important. But is Matthew golden, who had a couple moments in that game, maybe somebody that could pop off in week 16 and be streamable?
Jake Sealey
I think could is the best way to say it because when it happened in that game, Wicks and Golden, as I'm sure you saw, were kind of rotating the opportunities once Watson left. But it's the opportunity to replace Watson. You're not replacing Dobbs, you're not replacing Reed, you're replacing Watson. What are you replacing? The downfield ability. Wicks can do it. But I like the fact that when Golden Love was actually taking shots to golden, more so than Wicks, you had that one that went to Wicks, but more so he was actually kind of looking for golden and it might not happen, it might not work out in Chicago. Of course, if it ends up being 15 degrees and 40 mile an hour winds, you're not going to play pretty much anybody for the downfield game. But if the weather's decent enough and you're looking for that wide receiver four that could hit like a K, Sean booty type, Golden's now in that conversation. We want it to happen this entire year, but at least in that pivot of that game, they both tried to fill the role. It looked like it was finally starting to click. I know the one play he didn't catch But Love was looking to him to have that fill in for Christian Watson.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
All right, last situation, we're going to talk about the Washington Commanders backfield. Chris Rodriguez was out. So JCM had touched on that game. Is McNichols somebody we're looking at? How do you look at this Washington Commanders backfield going forward for week 16?
Jake Sealey
Yeah, it sounds like Chris Rodriguez is maybe 50, 50 to play this week, which throws it out into a full blown committee. But here's where I go with Joe and I'm kind of curious if you agree. They're home Saturday. By the way, we have two Saturday games.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
That's right, Saturday football's here.
Jake Sealey
Home against the Eagles, which is not a good matchup and also the Eagles should be able to score. So if I'm picking one, I know Crosby Merritt had the game, but it was against the Giants. They were in the lead. They controlled that game. Well, if you're going against the Eagles, what do we expect? I would actually lean to McNichols on this one because they started with them.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
I understand that thought process.
Jake Sealey
Granted, McNichols did not do well between the tackles to start the game. He's Jeremy McNichols. But they started with them and then Crosby Merritt looked good between the tackles, but now you're facing the Eagles. Well, you're going to want McNichols in the passing game, so I'm going to give him the sight lean. I don't obviously want to start either one, but if you're desperate enough in a half and full point PPR, I would actually lean to McNichols over cross game Marriott at least for one game.
Joey P (Joe P. Zapia)
All right, so there you have it, everybody. That's what the waiver wire looks like. And if you need more help on the waiver wire for round two of the playoffs in week 16, head over to Waiver Central. That's the place to be. Download the Fantasy Pros app or go to fantasypros.com myplaybook and you can find the difference makers to stream this week. So hopefully you have advanced to round two of the playoffs and hopefully we can help you along with the tools, find the right players to get on your roster so you can win that championship. We're so close, we could smell it. Let's go, Jake Sealy. Go. He's great to have you, my friend. That'll do it for us. But the story of the game goes on for Jake. I'm Joey P We'll see you next time, kids. Hustle Loyalty Respect thanks for listening to.
