Welcome in friends of fantasy pros. This is the Fantasy football podcast. I'm Chris Welsh. Pat Fitzmaurice, Andrew Erickson, Quarterbacks, tight ends, we got them for you. We are going to be going through the top 12, the starters and maybe a few more on both of these positions for week 14. We got the full breakdowns whether it is going to be streaming. There's actually quite a few really interesting discussion points at quarterbacks fits like in the 8 to 12 range, which in the world of quarterbacks that does start to justify some of the streamers. There's going to be some tough decisions people are making. But we also had, you know, a couple nice re additions. Joe Burrow is back, but I think the back end of quarterback is going to be highly discussed this week.
Pat Fitzmaurice
Who would have thought before the season, Welsh, that Lamar Jackson vs. Jacoby Brissette might be a debate we're having in week 14.
Chris Welsh
That is literally the debate that's going to be. Yeah, I mean that like to that point it's like who would have thought that Lamar Jackson would be as big of a question the tight end market, Erickson, it's relatively chalk. We do also have a new name, Brenton Strange actually just as a preview is going to fly up boards for this week. But the back end of tight end is continuously becoming a little bit of a question and you are 100% going to travel back down a road. The last tight end we're going to talk about in this show, we're going to travel back down the road of dicey tight ends, which I don't like to do. And you're going to try to bring Darren Waller back just as a preview.
Andrew Erickson
He is facing the jets and he was checks notes tight end 2 the last time he faced the Jets. So I think this one's a layup.
Chris Welsh
All right, well we'll get into all of those before we do start. It's giveaway time. Go to fantasypros.com rankings to check out all the positional from defense and you can even go further into like season long stuff with Dynasty. But you can follow along@fantasyprose.com rankings. Let's look at quarterbacks. Our top 12 quarterbacks for the week on the big board starts with Josh Allen going against the Cincinnati Bengals at 1, Dak Prescott at 2. Matthew Stafford, Jalen Hurts, Jared Goff, Joe Burrow, that's your top six. Bottom half, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Baker Mayfield, Jacoby Brissette, Jordan Love and Bo Nix. Now before we started the episode a couple hours ago, Lamar Jackson was actually a spot lower and he was below Baker Mayfield and he was right next to Jacoby Brissette. He had moved up one spot as the rankings will kind of adjust. Here he is ECR8. He doesn't look healthy. This offense doesn't look healthy. And there is going to be a barrage of people that started last week that are saying should I even bother starting Lamar Jackson? Now he's going up against Pittsburgh's defense, which is a little toast right now. QB 8. Fitz has got him at 8, but Erickson, you got him at 6. So let's start with you Erickson. You are even higher. You not worried about him not rushing, not worried about the offense being putrid. You are going in and saying this is a Lamar Jackson week.
Andrew Erickson
Yes I am. He was one of my predictions this week. He's going to be a QB1. He's going to score more than 10 fantasy points this week. That is one of my bold predictions for Lamar Jackson because yeah, it's been really tough for him. But look, the injuries aside because we all kind of can acknowledge that doesn't look nearly as healthy. It's not a lack of rushing attempts. Like he's still running six or seven times per game. But I'm not trying to play doctor here, especially when he has 10 days off. So this is the longest extended rest that he's had. He was playing with an injury against the jets and he comes back short week. Okay, doesn't have much time to rest, has to play the Bengals again. Doesn't play necessarily super great. But aside from that, he's really kind of running in like this one percentile type of outcome where he doesn't have just one passing touchdown. Last week he has two passing touchdowns that get called off because Isaiah likely fumbles at the one yard line and Zay Flowers has a 35 yard touchdown that's called back on offensive pass interference. So if those actually end up being touchdowns, are we as freaked out about Lamar Jackson? Probably not. So I think everything's kind of being a tad bit overblown with. Right. This guy's garbage. Jacoby Brissette against the Rams he's a much better. Like I'm. I'm not there yet and if you disagree with me, that's totally fine. Willing to take the L when we talk about Lamar Jackson next week when Jacoby Brissette throws for 300 yards on 50 drop backs like he does every single week. But something that gets lost in the sauce is he threw for 246 passing yards last week. That was his second highest passing yardage total of the season. And if that Zay Flowers touchdown converts, well, he's almost matching his season high for passing yards. But nobody's talking about that. I was just talking about. Oh, what was me, Lamar Jackson. He's trash now. I think that he bounces back here again. I'm betting against the Steelers in this situation. I want to bet on the Ravens offense to bounce back in a spot where the Steelers defense is kind of reeling right now. Not great against really anything they can't get out of their own way. 26 in passing touchdown rate allowed. I think Lamar Jackson can throw two touchdowns in this game. 10 days off. I think this is the healthiest we see Lamar Jackson since he came back from that hamstring injury originally. So I'm back in again. I'm still being kind of modest with my projection of him in ranking. I still have him QB6. So you're still starting all the other elite options who have been more consistent producers over the last month or so. But I'm not going to the waiver wire to replace Lamar Jackson this week. That's just how I'm playing it.
Chris Welsh
We've kind of had a theme of like these titanic players. And if you've only listened to this episode, not the Others, these players that you just kind of go down the ship. With the wide receiver episode, it was kind of Justin Jefferson and going down with the ship and the running back episode, kind of the Saquon Barkley situation. You're kind of going down with the ship regardless of what's being played and not trying to be cute with it. Lamar Jackson is kind of the triad here, the third piece of our Titanic here where it's just like it's hard to not go down with the ship and to get too cute with the, with the streaming quarterbacks. But Fitz, maybe you can tell us different. I mean, it is not. It doesn't take a, doesn't take an analyst to just look at Lamar Jackson and be like this is not right and things don't seem well. So you understand why people are going to be asking a lot of questions about streaming. But are you going to Titanic with him based on your rank, which is ecr, do you have a lot more, more pessimistic view on Lamar Jackson?
Pat Fitzmaurice
No, I'm going to Titanic with him. Welsh I will play on the deck, play my trombone on the deck while the ship goes down. If it goes down. He could absolutely snap out of it this week with a big game against the Steelers at home, but man, things have not looked good lately. Erickson's right to point out that he could have had a couple touchdown passes, but instead he's gone three straight games without one. And Lamar hasn't run for a touchdown since week one. Over the last four weeks, he's QB31 in fantasy points per game. It has been ugly. But no, I'm not starting Jacoby Brissette over him. I'm not starting Trevor Lawrence over him, not starting Baker Mayfield over him. And Baker Mayfield's kind of been in a slump himself. So look, I, I don't think he looks that unhealthy. And maybe the extra 10, well, the 10 days rest, nine days rest, whatever it is, that's going to help. But like, I think he looks healthier than Daniel Jones. So I think the Lamar Jackson we know and love is, is still there somewhere and maybe we'll see him in week 14. But I just, I don't think it's going to keep going this badly for Lamar Jackson.
Chris Welsh
A quarterback that falls just outside of the top 12 here, but not in your guys's ranks is Justin Herbert. Now Justin Herbert had like a fractured bone in his non throwing hand. He had surgery on it, but he expects to play, which is, I don't know, a little bit of a surprise across the board. He comes in at ECR 13. You guys both have him at 12 and 11 respectively, which is right in that range where Jacoby, Brissette, Jordan, Love, Bo Nix is at Love and Knicks maybe specifically have like really good matchups. Fitz, why don't we start with you? What do you think about Justin Herbert? I'm a little tiny bit worried with that fracture that they want to maybe lean on running the ball a tiny bit more, taking the ball out of his hand. But you tell me you've got him as a QB one this week.
Pat Fitzmaurice
Yeah. I mean. Or do they want to lean on him running the ball because, like, he was having trouble with handoffs last week. Like, I think he was using his opposite hand to hand the ball off. It was just kind of weird. And they were putting him in a lot of like shotgun and not playing him at all under center. And I'm still really worried about his offensive line. And the Eagles are not the easiest matchup. They've allowed the fourth lowest opponent passer rating this season. They've only given up 12 touchdown passes. Only the Broncos have allowed fewer. So.
I liked it much more Welsh when I was a little behind ECR with Justin Herbert and now I'm ahead of ECR and I'm not sure that's where I want to be. I'm very nervous about him, Erickson.
Chris Welsh
You are. I think you have him at 11, so you got him a tiny bit higher. Are you nervous at all about Herbert?
Andrew Erickson
Yes, I am extremely nervous about Justin Herbert. I'm probably going to move him down and closer to ecr. I don't feel confident just starting him. And I don't think anybody really knows what's going to happen with Justin Herbert in this offense. I think that conventional thinking would assume that we got to protect our quarterback. Let's run the ball against a team that just got absolutely destroyed by two Bears running backs last week in their own house. I think Greg Roman, I know this year has been much more of a pass happy approach with this Chargers offense, but we know Greg Roman, he likes to run the football when the opportunity arises. O', Marian, Hampton back in the lineup. We have one guy. We're so banged up everywhere on offense, let's get the one guy we have that's fresh off of his injury. Let's get Omarion Hampton going. Protect our quarterback. Run the football. What are the Eagles so terrible against? Play action. You have to make things easier for Justin Herbert. You need to slow down this pass rush. How do you do that you have to establish the run in some way, shape or form. So I think that I think they have to lean on the run a little bit more. So that's going to take past attempts out of the offense and I don't think we're going to see a lot of design rushes for Justin Herbert. I mean he's playing with a broken hand, right. I don't think they want to expose him to more hits. So although Herbert has been a monster for Fantasy this year for the most part because he's throwing a ton and he's also adding value with his legs similar to Daniel Jones. We see him in his first game back from his injury or his injury announcement and he has one carry like so Herbert I'm just going to probably just ride with where ECR has him because I think there's a lot of outcomes where this just doesn't work out well and I think you're probably trying to again with Lamar Jackson. I'm not going to the waiver wire. I think this week I think I'm just too afraid to start Justin Herbert against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Chris Welsh
Is there any fear with Daniel Jones? Daniel Jones is ECR14 also dealing with some injuries. Fitch, you've got him at 18. Erickson, you've got him at 15. He's going up against the Jags. Presumably could seem like a decent matchup, but he's not ranked very high and you guys are both ranking him outside so you are more comfortable with Herbert over him. Erickson, why don't we start with you? You're a little bit more optimistic about Daniel Jones, but you're still lower than ecr.
Andrew Erickson
Yeah, probably another quarterback. I probably have to move down just because I think I'm lagging behind the ecr. With Daniel Jones it's just about he's probably going to attempt a decent amount of passes in this game. Like really that's like the upside case with him because you know the Jaguars are one of these pass funnel defenses. Number one pass rate face this season. Now does that change with Daniel Jones? He's battling an injury. Obviously the Colts want to establish a run with Jonathan Taylor, so maybe that's more of the game plan. But Daniel Jones has kind of been in that 16, 17 point range over four straight weeks. QB 13 to 17 range. So he's kind of been on that fringe of outside the QB1 territory, mid range, QB2. Four teams are on bye week so that's kind of where I've settled on him as that QB 13 to 17 range. But like I mentioned before just one carry against the Houston Texans. They actually had Tyler Warren in there doing the tush pushing so we don't even get bailed out by like a potential rushing touchdown with Daniel Jones. So I think that he's another quarterback where I don't think he's the guy that you want to go for on waivers this week or someone that you're feeling confident starting. Even if he has a lot of passing volume, I think that's more indicative. Okay. The Colts receivers have a chance to be successful in this game, whether it's Pittman or Alec Pierce. Tyler Warren, of course, but for him, he needs to be really efficient and he has to do it without the rushing equity, which is a tough bet to make with Daniel Jones battling this injury. So he's another player that I've got to move closer to where Fitz has ranked.
Chris Welsh
Yeah, Fitzy, you actually kind of, you offhandedly had mentioned like your uncomfortability with Daniel Jones and you're really burying him here at 18. He is a no go for you this week.
Pat Fitzmaurice
Yep, he's hurt. He's got this fibular fracture and 17 rushing yards in his last two games and it seems like maybe they're trying to protect him. He's only averaged 28 pass attempts over his last three games, so I don't know if they wind up throwing a lot against this pass funnel defense or if they think that's just too risky because really things were going south for Daniel Jones even before the injury. Maybe not so so much in fantasy, but just as far as turnovers, fumbles, interception, sacks, all of those things were starting to go bad with Daniel Jones. So maybe that sort of influences the play calling with Shane Steichen and he just figures the way to kind of avoid the worst of this is to run the ball. Even though the Jaguars are much better against the run than they are against the pass on defense.

All right, let's go to tight ends. Those are our quarterbacks. You want to check more quarterbacks, obviously go to fantasy bros.com rankings our top 12 tight ends for the week. Looking at the big board, we've got Trey McBride coming in at number one. Nothing crazy at the top end of this. Brock Bowers at number two, Tyler Warren at three, Travis Kelce comes in at four and Brenton Strange at five, Jake Ferguson at six. Our bottom half here is Kyle Pitts, Mark Andrews, Duan Johnson, Aranda Gadsden, Harold Fannin and Colston Loveland. I gotta ask you guys, I didn't originally have this on the sheet, but I need to get your take on Britain Strange and not only where you have him, but are you buying this? This is a very highly aggressive rank on a guy that just returned. Obviously this is a good matchup against the Colts. He's above Jake Ferguson. He's above Kyle Pitts, right below Kelsey here. We do have a couple tight ends that are out Fitzy by buy or sell Brenton Strange as a top five tight end this week because people are going to be plugging him in over some pretty big names.
Pat Fitzmaurice
Oh man. Well, sell for me, I guess, because I have him behind Jake Ferguson. But I've been debating that. I think it's kind of like a tie with those two guys, so. Especially if Parker Washington doesn't play this week. And Erickson talked about this a little bit on our wide receiver show about how it just seems like Trevor Lawrence is much more comfortable throwing in the middle of the field than he is out wide. Like we saw this when Evan Ingram had more than 100 catches a couple years ago and he just seems to be much more comfortable throwing to his tight ends and his slot receivers.
Chris Welsh
Erickson, buy or sell Brenton Strange as a top five tight end in week 14?
Andrew Erickson
I think I'm going to buy it, so I got to move them up. My ranking is I'm slacking here against ECR on Strange. I thought I was going to come on, you'd be like, yeah, got it. Seven really high on Breton Strange this week. Nope, not the case. So I'll have to move him ahead of Kyle Pitts and honestly I might move him out of Travis Kelsey against the Texans. Like they're another defense that's really tough on tight ends and I just feel like one of these Chiefs playmakers is going to be left holding the bag if they get held to 14 or 17 points against this really strong Houston Texans defense. So I'm not concerned about that with Brenton Strange. I know we didn't talk about Trevor Lawrence on the quarterback show. Last eight games he has one finish outside the top 15 quarterbacks and it was against the Houston Texans. So Lawrence is going to probably be a top 12 quarterback this week and if he's going to take guys along for the ride, it's probably going to be Brenton strange in a really plus matchup.
Pat Fitzmaurice
What about strange versus Ferguson? Erickson, since you're Mr. Vegas total and Lions Cowboys has a Vegas Total of 54 and a half last I checked.
Andrew Erickson
I feel so confident Ferguson is going to catch a touchdown because he didn't catch one last week despite just he just didn't get his feet in bounds on Thanksgiving and people were tilting their faces off with anytime touchdown. That's on Jake Ferguson. I can speak from experience, so I think he's probably going to score against the Lions and I think that's going to obviously put him in a pretty good spot to outdo Breton Strange. So I would put Ferguson slightly ahead but Strange, I mean, checks up all the boxes. He's got Trevor Lawrence's trust, he's seeing targets, he's been efficient. The matchup is there. So yeah, wheels up for Strange.
Chris Welsh
You mentioned Kyle Pitts. That's what we're going to talk about. He comes in at number seven on ecr. Four star graded matchup on Fantasy Pros on the ranked site. You guys are in a general vicinity. Fitz is one spot lower. Erickson, you're one spot higher. You just were kind of indicating maybe Pitts might fall down to ECR level. If you're going to move Strange up, what's your take on Kyle Pitts this week.
Andrew Erickson
Erickson, well, he's been Kirk Cousins number one target and I pushed back against Darnell Mooney last week because I just didn't trust him after he only saw three targets in a game. And then of course he puts up another dud just because that's been the season for Darnell Mooney. But Kyle Pitts put up actually a really strong game last week. Seven of his eight targets for 82 yards against the New York Jets. It was a good matchup. The Seattle Seahawks are another good matchup for tight ends. And TJ Hawkinson had a had a career game for the season against the Seattle Seahawks with Mack Brosmer as his quarterback last week. So clearly the Seahawks can be had against fantasy tight ends. My only concern is obviously if Drake London plays then that obviously takes a big chunk of the targets out of Kyle Pittsburgh. But he has been Kirk Cousins guy and should be at least somewhat efficient in a pretty positive matchup. It's top five for tight end. So I like Pitts this week. Obviously he'll get downgraded though if Drake London suits up.
Chris Welsh
Fitzy, do you believe that Pitt should get even more downgrade if London is going to be active? He wasn't practicing on Wednesday. And then what's your overall take on starting him this week?
Pat Fitzmaurice
Yeah, I'll have Pitts at like tight end 11 if London plays. And that's the thing. London has missed two games and we were kind of hoping that Pitts would have this big usage spike. We kind of saw it in his last game with seven catches, 82 yards on eight targets against the Jets. We didn't really get it in the first game that London missed when Pitts had two catches for 25 yards on five targets against the Saints. And man, we're just, we're not getting any touchdown juice from Kyle Pitts at all. One touchdown in 12 games this year, 11 touchdowns in 73 career games. So yeah, I just, I don't want to be any higher than tight end 8 on Kyle Pitts.
Chris Welsh
All right, the final tight end we teased, we're going to talk about Darren Waller. Darren Waller comes in at ECR 13. Both of you fine gentlemen have him at 12. Now I will say, looking at the list of the next couple guys I do see it's like a similar tier. I think you can ask the question, can you even start Gadsden anymore? And he comes in at 10 versus Philly. That scene seems, that seems incorrect about ECR. That won't be how my ranks are fannin in Tennessee versus Tennessee. We'll see. Loveland against Green Bay. We'll see. Waller is kind of an all or nothing type of guy, it feels like. And Fitzy, we'll start with you. You got him at 12. I'm surprised you guys are both in commitment there. He just returned. You guys are both going in saying Darren Waller, but do you think there's even a, an argument to say you take his upside over. Like I said, like the Gadsden who's got a horrible matchup not getting targets anymore. What's your take?
Pat Fitzmaurice
Yeah, I have been.
Having a great internal debate about Darren Waller and now that Erickson refers to him as a layup, I just dropped Waller three spots in my rankings because Erickson and I have had our Darren Waller debates before. No, he's, he's such an interesting got to try to evaluate because he's not really a full time player. He's not even really a tight end for that matter. He's basically the Dolphins number two wide receiver right now. He's averaging 13.7 yards per catch, which is really high for a tight end. His average depth of target is like around 11 yards, which is insanely high for a tight end. Like he is a boom bossed big play tight end with a wide range of weekly outcomes. So it's just really hard to peg him in any given week.
Chris Welsh
Andrew Erickson, how do you not have him hire? You're almost like you're almost obligated to have him as to be the highest on Darren Waller. When you go Waller week, you go all in. So talk to us about Darren Waller.
Andrew Erickson
Yeah, I mean, looking at where I have Gadsden ranked to your point, he was a player that I talked about in the prediction show with Worm about just being really concerned about his outlook. Brutal matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Target competition. Quarterback injury just doesn't seem like a good spot for, for Gadsden. Whereas Darren Waller, we've seen him in this exact spot before already this season against the New York jets and he scored two touchdowns. He led the team in receiving yards last week on two catches, three targets. He also had a red zone target where TUA missed him. I, I just think that he's a player that they love to use in the red zone. We expect them to be able to move the football against the New York Jets. That's why Devon Hn is the number one running back in the fantasy football rankings this week because they're going to be able to run the ball all over the New York Jets. And when they get in close, TUA looks for Darren Waller. So, yeah, I think the thing with Waller too, and we've had so much pushback with Waller and just myself, Fitz, dbro, all the analysts here at Fantasy Pros. But the thing that I've always held true with Waller is it's never been ability. It's availability with him. Like he has always hurt, which has been even true this year. Right. He's just like his fourth game played. But when he was healthy and playing, he was scoring touchdowns left and right. And even last week in his first game back, he was relatively productive based on the role that he had. That was pretty limited. Mike McDaniel even said that they were kind of conservative with him in his first game back. Look, I'll never know why he decided to come out of retirement and play for the Miami Dolphins this season. Just a very, very weird career arc for Darren Waller, but obviously doing it for the money, as Welsh is indicating. But I think he was put on this universe to catch touchdowns and I think he's going to do that against the New York jets two weeks in a row or two games in a row. So give me Waller. Would you say.
Pat Fitzmaurice
Would you say Darren Waller's musical career is more about ability or availability?
Chris Welsh
Availability, probably some big similarities there for sure. Well, get Darren, I guess. Get Britain Strange and Darren Wall up Darren Waller in your lineups just like you all expected in week 14.
