Scott Bogman here with Tara Roberts to go over the Sunday games for you before Sunday Night Football. We're starting a little early. That's mainly my fault. I'm a psychopath when it comes to my Steelers kicking off. But look, I'm a Steelers fan. Tara's packers fan. These games in the afternoon were absolutely awful, Tara. So, yeah, I mean, these were some ridiculously bad games. We're going to fire up early. We're going to end a little early so Tara and I can go watch the Sunday Night Football game. No, Deepak today. He is saving babies and children and everybody at the hospital. He could not join us today. So you will just get our injury expertise here. Like we really need it because there's one really horrible injury. But, Tara, how was your Sunday? Was it a good fantasy day at least?
Tara Roberts
It was a good fantasy day. Those, those low end guys came through. So if you, if you had streaming options that you had to turn to deep, they definitely came through this week. So this was a fun week. I enjoyed this one.
Scott Bogman
Yeah, this is not bad. You know, look, the Steelers still haven't played, so I'm not that mad. I did clear out a whole box of, of Kleenex because I was crying tears when my guy Cam Scatterboo went down. I mean, I've been one of the staunchest Cam Scatterboo supporters of, you know, anything in this offseason here and really sad to see him go. We will talk a little bit about how to replace him. But I mean, Tara, this, this injury, did. Did you see it? Hopefully you were able to look away because it was gross.
Tara Roberts
I saw it. I did. It was immediately like, oh, it's pain. Like, I. Running back injuries for me are more painful than any other position just because their, their rookie contracts are on a premium. You hope everything goes well so that they can get that big one. It's just, I hate to see it, especially the way that the Giants have been gelling with Jackson Dart and Cam Scatter Boo. Just this dynamic duo here and it was starting off perfectly and then it seemed to deflate the entire team.
Scott Bogman
Yeah, I mean, it, you know, I didn't think that this game in Philly was going to be what the Thursday night game was. Obviously Thursdays are weird. They've been weird all year. But I expected Philly to win, but man. Yeah, this really took the air out of the sails of the Giants. You could see it. And obviously he's going to miss the entire season. I've seen this injury compared to Aiden Hutchinson's last year to Alex Smith's pre, you know, infection. Hopefully he doesn't have to deal with that, but that was the big one. Obviously if Deepak was here, he would, you know, maybe tell us a little more in depth, but we know this dude is out for the whole year, so it's going to be Tyrone Tracy. It's going to be Devin Singletary in there. We'll talk a little bit more about how to replace Cam Scatter Boo, but we had a couple other injuries as well. Tara Saquon left with the hamstring. Now, he said post game he's good and he sat because they had the lead. We'll see. Hamstrings are tricky and weird. What are your thoughts on Saquon moving forward into next week?
Tara Roberts
Yeah, I'm the same way. I mean, hamstrings are tricky. You never know. They feel fine right after and then it pops up and you practice it. It doesn't feel quite right. The only issue here is that we have a week nine by for the Eagles and unfortunately that means we don't hit those lovely practice reports that give us some kind of indication. So in terms of, you know, what to do and maybe looking and seeing if Tyrone or if Tank Bigsby is there and whatnot, unfortunately, like, you're just gonna have to take a leap of faith here that he's healthy or head your bets and get Tyrone Tracy because the bye week kind of mess puts us in a messy place right there.
Scott Bogman
Yeah, you know, not. Not a good spot. At least he is barely banged up. We're going to say we're going to take his word for it before the bi week, so hopefully he'll just be rested up and good to go. But you never know. Quinch on Judkins also left with a shoulder injury. The entire Browns offense looked pretty miserable today. I guess it's not that big of a shock, but this guy had been providing us a lot recently and that's, you know, I mean, Saquon had the bye week anyway, but cam down. Saquon injured, now Judkins hurt too. It seems like some of these RBs are dropping like flies here. Tara, what are your thoughts on Judkins moving forward and is it Ford? They just go straight to him. Do we think we mix Sampson or is it maybe just more passing because those guys have been ineffective.
Tara Roberts
Yeah, I get. I don't think they can do more.
Scott Bogman
Passing.
Tara Roberts
Unfortunately or fortunately maybe. Again, it depends on if you're saying, you know, hey, we get an extra week here, we got another week nine by here. Our running back injuries are bumping up here, so we're not going to know exactly what the severity of the injury is there. But yeah, the good news is, is that I don't think anyone's going to fighting you for options on waiver wires. It'll be a lower priority there if he is out. I. We technically do have two sample ish games. One full sample, one a partial sample of what this offense looks like with no Quinton Judkins. And it is a committee. It'll be a committee. You want the one that is going to catch the passes. They both have that capability. But the slight edge does lean towards Dylan Sampson. He did showcase better and more usage in terms of being a pass catcher and was the more productive one in. In the first game and the partial little second game where Judkins was only in there for a limited amount of snaps there. And we also saw Sampson get more receptions in this game as well. So yeah, that's. That's one that you can put a little waiver claim in on Dylan Sampson. But we do got to see how this plays out with Judkins.
Scott Bogman
Yeah, I mean, you know, the. The wire has been pretty barren for rb, so there will be some to buy this week, that's for sure. So if you have any fab left there, I have a couple spots where I am just bone dry out of fab. I had too many Joe Burrow shares go out early, so I spent it on bad quarterbacks. And now I have no money left for regular quarterbacks. Like, I had no money to buy Joe Flacco. I had to spend $9 because someone. My last $9 of fab because someone cut Dylan Gabriel because I wasn't sure if Justin Fields was going to start. And then Justin Fields started and I started him. So. But we also had Luther Burden go out with the concussions. Daniel Bellinger went out with a neck injury. So Bellinger, who knows? I mean, he's not the biggest fantasy asset anyway. Probably just a nice bump for Theo Johnson. Luther Burton was kind of hitting his stride and then we saw DJ Moore get some decent yards after Luther Burton left. So maybe this is wheels up for more if he, if Luther Burden, that is, misses a week, right?
Tara Roberts
Yeah, I think that does make sense. I mean, unfortunately, we did, we did at least see some evidence that someone can pull away. It's been a while since we've seen anybody really having a strong fantasy day, so at least we did get that from Roma Dunes. The offense is still shaky as a whole. We've got inconsistency from Caleb Williams, but yeah, it's a, it's a way too many assets to throw to from a fantasy perspective. If we can narrow it down, that does make it a lot easier for us.
Scott Bogman
All right, well, that's all the injuries for now. We are going to hit storylines. We're going to see who we're panicking on, and we are also going to answer your questions at the end of the show before Sunday Night Football starts. And before we dive into the action here, let me just remind you guys that we have a giveaway. That's right. AJ Brown jersey giveaway. All right, Tara, let's get into some storylines and we're going to start at number one here. Cam Scatterboo. How are we going to replace my man Scatterboo? Because like we talked about before, the waiver wire has been absolutely barren and desolate with running backs. It's been mad Max out there. You have to spend a bunch of your fab to get anybody. I feel like it almost has to be a trade. Although Tyrone Tracy is 48% roster on Yahoo, I looked at the aggregate on fantasy pros. He's 41.4%, so he's hovering right around 50%. There is a chance that he's on your wire. So it's him by a million miles, I guess. What do we do if there's no Tracy? Is it single? Terry, Are we just looking to trade from depth because there's nothing on the wire? How do we go about replacing an asset that had become one of our automatic starts every week?
Tara Roberts
Yeah, I will say that with Tracy because he would have been dropped inconsistently throughout leagues. Don't, don't assume that he might not be on your waiver just because he is higher roster. We saw some, some crazy drops happening this week as people have, were trying to, you know, push through bye week and all by massive bye week and all of these injuries. So he might be out there. So just double check there. I, I don't feel we got a big play from Singletary. I just don't feel like that's the direction you want to go. I think there are a lot of interesting buy low trade candidates here or buy mid trade candidates here as well. So I think you're right. Going the trade route is probably the best route to try and replace him there.
Scott Bogman
Do you think it's going to cost you, like to get an RB3? Do you think it costs you a wide receiver too because of the thinness of the running back position? Or do you think it's more fair? Maybe you have to add a kicker, not an actual kicker, like an add on. You know, do you have to add on like something on top attack on to get this instead of trading like two decent assets instead of one much better asset? Or do you think, hey, look, that's just going to be the going rate because the wire is thin right now?
Tara Roberts
Yeah, I think so. I think that makes sense. I mean, you could also look at trying to trade for one of these wayward RB2s that have been bouncing back lately. And maybe someone's thinking that they're selling high like on a Chase Brown, someone who has been sitting through misery here can think, you know, hey, maybe this is my opportunity to get out of it. He's had a big game here. I can sell high and they're just ready to move on there and maybe you can go that route. Yeah, you're buying at a little inflated price here, but you're still getting a pretty hefty discount in terms of what his actual value is. And at this point with Joe Flacco, the way he has opened up this entire offense has been truly incredible. Not just the receivers. I mean, just being able to turn it around multiple weeks here, Chase Brown has looked the Best he has looked all season by far with Joe Flacco. So I trust it at this point to be able to make that investment.
Scott Bogman
Yeah, he went to the locker room for a second at the end of that game and I think everybody went, oh, no, not Jake Browning again. But he came out and finished it. We didn't even mention him in the injuries. We're assuming he's going to be fine for next week. Let's talk about some buy or sell on some good weeks for struggling offenses. Tara. Let's start with the Jets. Their first win, Obviously for Aaron Glenn. 502 yards of offense today is incredible. Obviously, Cincinnati not providing much on defense. Trey Hendrickson tried to gut it out. He went down and left the game. Their defense is rough right now, but Fields 244 yards and a touchdown also ran for 31. Breece hall had two scores. Isaiah Davis looked good out there. Mason Taylor caught a touchdown from Breeze Hall. He also threw one. Tyler Johnson had three catches for 64 and a score with Garrett Wilson down and everybody else down for the Jets. So is this a Cincinnati week or is this. Hey, look, maybe the jets are coming around. Maybe they shouldn't bench Fields. Or do you think after their bye week, Tyrod's healthy, they might just go to Tyrod anyway, I mean, this is really interesting the way this offense is going to unfold coming up here. What are your thoughts on the Jets? Are you buying or selling this nice performance?
Tara Roberts
I am. I'm in the middle. Is that cheating? This is. This is a Cincinnati thing for sure to an extent here. Because the one thing I want to highlight. Well, first of all, in theory you would think that, hey, after this you would keep Justin Fields. You have to remember, it is the Jets. A lot of times they don't make the most logical decisions. Woody Johnson did speak out very vocally. So perhaps he's not personally ready to roll back exactly what he said and move forward with Justin Fields, even though Tyrod Taylor objectively did not look better the last time we saw him. But the one that I. The section that I want to highlight here is the running backs, because this right here was not just a function of the running backs. The run game has been good. Now, in difficult matchups and very difficult matchups, it hasn't pulled through. That's understandable here, but as long as it's not like a truly bad matchup here, Breeze hall has had a fine game on the ground. It's just been the touchdowns that have been eluding him. And here he goes getting Two on the ground and one one through the air passing. Fantastic day for him. So the touchdowns being elevated there is definitely a function of the Cincinnati defense, but the overall performance and the yardage, that makes sense. They've been good. And I want to highlight it because one, you could either see that version of Bree hall, you can see that potentially version of Bree hall being traded to another situation, or if it stays like that, this, he's still a fine candidate. And then if he does leave, that puts Isaiah Davis, who showcased very well today and quite frankly has been showing over the past couple of weeks his receiving chops as well. He's a very rounded back. So pay attention to this little grouping here and if they can more effectively move forward. Anyway, the contributions of Davis were obviously elevated because of the matchup, but this is what they wanted to do in a perfect world. They wanted to run a committee like the Detroit backfield. So this was very indicative of the vision of what they had for this team.
Scott Bogman
I always thought it was weird going into the season where they said, yeah, we're gonna have a three headed monster. I was like, no you're not. You have Breece hall, right? Like, I mean, I get it, you want to do that, but it's just like, you know, what is Brian Robinson getting for the Niners right now? Right? You have Christian McCaffrey ahead of you. When you have a back that good in the game and when you're playing close games or from behind like the jets are going to do most of the year, you're going to want your best guy out there. So I always I drafted Breeze on a bunch of spots. I would love to see him go somewhere else where the offense is healthy. And I thought Isaiah Davis was better than Braylon Allen last year. Obviously I did too. Not came through. Yeah, he's a more complete back coming out of college. Right. He could catch the ball. I thought Braylon Allen was slower than what he showed us last year. I was mistaken about that. But Isaiah Davis looks great. Those two could be a nice one two punch if Braylon.
Tara Roberts
Absolutely.
Scott Bogman
So we'll see what happens with Hall. I hope he gets traded, you know, by week coming up. It's a good time to do it. So. So we'll see. I like that. Let's move to the Texans here. 475 total yards, the most yards they've had all season. Stroud got more than one Mississippi back there a lot. So he was 30 of 39, 318 yards, two touchdowns and a pick. Woody Marks look good Chubb had some yards and the pass catchers were good now that everyone is hurt for them. Hutchinson caught a touchdown. Noel looked good out there. Higgins had a touchdown as well. Schultz was the one to disappoint out of the pass catchers because I think he was ranked a little too high among tight ends this week. But what are your thoughts on the Texans? Was this a hey, look, the Niners are weak. This is weird. Or was this a, hey, the Texans are fresh coming off a buy. We've reassessed, we've reworked things and now maybe we have some pieces to look at here on the Texans offense.
Tara Roberts
Yeah, I think the 49ers defense showed unfortunately that they're still, you know, no insult to them. I mean, when you lose talents like Nick Bosa and Fred Warner, you are going to be a bad defense. So, you know, that's no negative there, unfortunately. Whatever they pulled through last week against Atlanta was clearly just Atlanta struggling there. So this was a good matchup. Shroud showed well, but he showcased, you know, exactly what we needed to see. As long as the offensive line can be competent, he is a good quarterback. It just takes giving him some time, as you know, it takes with the vast majority of quarterbacks. That's not unusual there. It was good to see the backfield hold more steady. We didn't get that reverse uno that we got before when Woody Marks had that breakout game and then disappeared the next week. So that was good, especially since this was definitely tilted more towards Houston in this matchup and we could have gone that direction there. The pass catchers though, was very interesting here. I was, I was happy to see Jaden Higgins step up with Nico Collins out. But I think it is important reminder that they, they do like Xavier Hutchinson a lot. So I say be careful about potentially leaning towards leaning into Jaden Higgins because you're excited and he's the rookie and whatnot. Remember that Nico will be back and that does kind loop things in terms of the overall too. Yeah, yeah.
Scott Bogman
Christian Kirk will be back as well. I were assuming at some point here. I think Higgins and Noel are better than those guys. I think they're both probably better than Hutch too. But Hutch has been around for a long time and this is like Iowa State fans had to enjoy this after what they saw Yesterday was rough against byu, but they saw all their wide receivers out there for Houston, Iowa State south there. That was nice to see. Let's go to Miami. I mean, look, not a lot of yards. 338 yards. He scored some points there. This is on 37, 58 possession, but two ahead four touchdowns. Now this is clearly because I traded for him. So I'm the magic touch on Tua. I'm just.
Tara Roberts
There we go.
Scott Bogman
Not a magic touch at all. But Achan scored a touchdown. Ollie Gordon scored a touchdown as well. They split a little more, but they both look good. Waddle had a touchdown. Malik Washington scored. This was a strong game from the Miami offense. I don't know if I want to. I don't think I'm going to bet on this on a week to week basis. So. Tara, right?
Tara Roberts
Yeah. I trust two people. I trust Hn and I trust Jalen Waddle. So it was, it was good. And this was a crucial bounce back for Jalen Waddle because I think a lot of people were skeptical coming off of last games. They got a lot of start sick questions and I'd say, yeah, play Jalen Waddle. And the response would be, Lynn, are you sure? Jalen? Yeah. Yes. Jaylen Waddle. He is the wide receiver one. We love him. I mean, I understand, but last week was an anomaly. That was a bad, terrible matchup. Bad defense, Rain. Poor Tua said he couldn't see over the line. He probably shouldn't have, you know, admitted that and whatnot. But. But yeah, this was a good game to see that our superstars are. There are superstars and we trust them.
Scott Bogman
All right, I want to ask about a couple rookie backs that we had some good games for. I mean, first, let's start with Trayveon Henderson. 10 for 75. He did lose a fumble, but he looked better than Stevenson. And clearly they just ignore fumble issues in New England. They don't care because they gave the job right back to. They give their job right back to Ramon Dre. So he looked better than Ramon Dre still didn't do anything in the receiving game. Is this, is this enough for us to keep Travion Henderson or if there's someone okay on the wire, you know, are you like, if Isaiah Davis is on the wire still and this is the last guy on your bench, are you dumping Henderson to get Davis or is he. Look, we're going to stick because the upside is still incredible.
Tara Roberts
Yeah, I'm dumping Henderson to get Davis just because of the. Hey, look, it's the upside at this point for me there we have enough proof that there's the standalone value for Henderson, isn't there? Because that was great what he did on the ground. But that's not enough from a fantasy perspective. So am I stashing him, knowing that what he offers on a week to week basis is not enough for me to play him. And again we have to hope that you know, if he would get a standalone role if Ramandre Stevenson went down or you know that's hedging on the injury or you can hold Isaiah Davis for couple of weeks here until the trade deadline passes because if that hits off, you've got yourself an instant at the very least, RB2, you've got yourself an instant top 24 back, maybe even top 20 there. So yeah, it's just a hedge in your bets things. Henderson is a handcuff, so if you want to hold on to him, that's perfectly fine. But the standalone value there, it's not enough for me.
Scott Bogman
Yeah, the the truth of Henderson being a handcuff hurts me deep in my soul. I would love to see this guy get more touches than Stevenson, but they just refused to do it so I don't know why now. RJ Harvey scored three touchdowns today, seven for 46 and two scores. He also got a garbage one at the end, a five yard receiving touchdown. Still didn't get as much action as Dobbins. 15 for 111 for Dobbins. He also had two catches, more snaps, all of that. But this was a pretty good week and this could easily eat into J.K. dobbins. We know J.K. dobbins history as a running back is, you know, getting hurt late when he's a little bit more worn down and things like that. That has been the history of this running back. So RJ Harvey definitely at least sexier to get on your roster than Henderson, right?
Tara Roberts
Yeah, for sure. For one, I think the big thing there is when we, when we look at the New England offense, it's fantastic, but it's very specific. Drake May is operating at such a high level that the man only has to throw in the low 20s in order to effectively blow out the other team. So it just, it limits the upside there for him, unfortunately for, for the running backs, unfortunately on the opposite side, Denver, we're seeing Bonick start to turn things around. This is a good matchup of course, but we're seeing things trend in a more positive direction. We've seen him last year have that big shift in the back half of the so if this offense gets hot, yeah, there might be a little something there in terms of standalone value for RJ Harvey because I don't think he is in the doghouse in the same way with Sean Payton as unfortunately we've got for New England over there. And also, you know, the increased odds of the J.K. dobbins injury history. It is, you know, unfortunately, it is very realistic there.
Scott Bogman
Let's go to. Let's talk about Thursday night and what happened with the Minnesota backfield here because Aaron Jones came back. He had five attempts for 15 yards and two catches for 15 yards. Jordan Mason had four attempts for three yards, one catch for three yards. Minnesota got rolled. This Jones snap count was 26 of 49. Mason was 17 of 49. So was more Aaron Jones. Are we. Is this gonna ruin Mason for us?
Tara Roberts
I think so. At the same time, when you are playing from. I don't. I don't know if the most effective version of him would ever be in any scenario when they are chasing points against a very aggressive offensive team. So.
Scott Bogman
And Carson Wentz at 30 or whatever he was at. Yeah, as well. My God, he was like a dying phone out there. Yes.
Tara Roberts
I mean, like, if we could get to some, you know, hey, we supposedly getting JJ McCarthy back? We haven't seen enough to be able to say yay or on that, but we need the games to be closer here. We know this is a committee. We know that they want both backs involved. We know that Mason would thrive more with goal line opportunities there, but we got to get to the goal line. So we do have to have a better version of this offense in order for both of them to be viable fantasy assets.
Scott Bogman
I have to imagine JJ McCarthy's healthy enough to play here. So we'll see. I mean, Coach Carson Wentz is not Max Brossmer, pride of Minnesota. Look, the Ravens look good. Are they back? Tara? You know, Huntley had to step in here for Lamar, which is so many people were so mad about this, and I don't blame them. Like, the NFL is going to, you know, do an investigation into why this was announced so late and all that stuff as well. But Snoop got in there. He played great. 17 to 22, 186 yards, a touchdown. He ran for 53 yards. Derrick Henry had the big day, didn't fumble, scored two touchdowns. Zay Flowers was 7 and 9 in catches, 63 yards. And, you know, Charlie Kohler scored. Mark Andrews had an okay day for Mark Andrews based on what he's been doing recently. So are we buying in on Baltimore? The schedule is pretty cakey down the stretch here. It looks pretty good.
Tara Roberts
Yeah. And prior to the bye week, one of my recommendations was is that, you know, you need. You need to buy Derek Henry. You need to buy at this offense because Things get very easy down the road here. So, yeah, they're getting into a nice little soft schedule here. We see, you know, Derek Henry is who he is, right. He's fantastic. As long as these games are competitive, we're good to go on him. Zay Flowers, we would like to see a little bit more, obviously when Lamar Jackson does come back. We would anticipate we would see a little more there, but again, it was a fine day. No major issue there. Overall, the Titans did well. So, yes, this was a very well put together version of the Ravens and this was an excellent matchup, make no mistake about that. But again, as you said, we've got excellent matchups moving forward and assuming that we get Lamar Jackson back, regardless, they are, they're fighting for their lives to stay in the hunt for the playoffs here. They're highly motivated.
Scott Bogman
Yeah. Last week, I think the Ravens at whatever they were, one in five, one and six, whatever they are, same chances to win the division as the Steelers because of the schedule down the stretch on a bunch of, bunch of odds makers. So that was, that was surprising. But I looked at the, the schedule, I was like, man, this is realistic. If you have Lamar and this offense, you know, the defense has issues, but Roquan came back today, Kyle Hamilton came back today. They looked a lot better. So, yeah, I think the Ravens are going to be scary moving forward and the, the demise of Derrick Henry might have been talked about a little bit.
Tara Roberts
Yeah, we can never count Derek Henry out.
Scott Bogman
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, that's not a smart decision. Before we move on, we're going to talk about the panic meter. Overall there seems to be no escape from Cam Ward who I thought was going to be good but has not been good at all this year. Our boy Pat Fitzmorris was completely right about him. What do you think about. Let's start with the Titans. What do you think about the Titans and Pollard, Nay Manor and Calvin Ridley and everybody that should have some value but it's rough right now.
Tara Roberts
Yeah, it is. I, I will. Ward shows flashes, but the flashes just aren't enough for us. Unfortunately the easy one to start off with is the backfield and saying that on a week to week basis. You will never know which one. Unfortunately it's a committee. We say it's, you know, whoever has the receiving value has the upside there but quite frankly it flips back and forth because they are both same level of good pass catchers there. So there is no true delineating factor on it. Last, you know, Tony Pollard came back or Taj Spears came back, we got Spears, then it was Pollard, now it's Spears back again. It's just, it's a mess. This is. If you're dealing with injuries or bye weeks or something, you can plug one in and hope that's the one that hits there. The receiving core is interesting for me. I am, I loved Tim Radike as a prospect so to see him get this opportunity and pull through, I believe in it. He was technically drafted higher than Alakaya Mater there, so they're on the same level there quite frankly. And combined they did look good. It's not that Ridley looked bad before, right? But both of these guys look like you can work them in and progress them towards the future because this is your core right here and really is going to be there. But again, this is your young core that you're trying to build around with Cam Ward, your rookies here, you're grouping IO manor. I don't know that we can trust him at this point. Especially because we are going to get Ridley back at some point. You know, we might have, you know, a week or two left with him dealing with a hamstring injury.
Scott Bogman
But long term, traded too.
Tara Roberts
That's true. He could get traded. That is a possibility there. But long term and if that happens Then absolutely he would be stashing there. But I do like. I do like DK a lot more. I. I'm not gonna lie on that one.
Scott Bogman
I think. I think it depends on what you're looking for. Right? Like, because they are different players. DK is so fast. The upside is incredible for him. A minor is not fast at all, but he is a possession guy. So if you're in ppr, I think I'd rather have iron minor. If you're in standard, I think I'd rather have the big play guy in dk. But they're. They're both kind of mid, as you. As you said before, they meet that mid. What about Alvin Kamara in this Saint struggling offense? He doesn't want to get traded. Like, we're done holding out for that. He said he'd rather retire than get moved. He must love the food. New Orleans. I don't know what's going on there. Can't love the organization. It's miserable. So are we just worried about starting Alan Camara? Is he going to be like a borderline RB2, RB3 every week moving forward? I mean, you start him now because there's so many injuries and it's so thin, but you don't feel good about doing it.
Tara Roberts
I benched him. I didn't start him this week. And one, like, I had bipocalypse. Yeah. And one. And one. I had to. But in the other one, I was like, no. I had options. I was like, no, we're at a 10 panic meter on this one. He was a. He was a sell candidate for me last week. Like, hey, take advantage of this, Kendra. Yeah. In the video that I do, the five moves to make it was, take advantage of this before we get Alvin Camara out there looking terrible. Take advantage of the Kendra Miller news and sell while you can. And I got a lot of pushback of people saying, well, no, Kendra is gone. We're going to see an increase in touches. Nope. There it is. The evidence right there. Unfortunately, we can't see an increase in touches if this offense is just flat out bad. So unfortunately, we need more receiving upside for him. It's not happening. It's just the function of how this offense is working right now. If there were more checkdowns, he's Alvin Camara. It's not that I think he's regressed, it's just that this offense does not function in the way that we need it to for him.
Scott Bogman
What about some of these backfields that are mixing a little more? Tara, what Is you give me your 1 through 10. Let's start on the Panthers. Right. Obviously a gross game today against the Bills. They had to pass a bunch. Andy Dalton looked awful in the Bills were off a bye week. Fresh. They look great. They were rolling. But Rico and Chuba splitting. Chuba's still getting more touches, Rico's getting more yards. It's gross. It just seems right down the middle. It's exactly what we didn't want it to be is what it has shown up as since Rico looked good. So what are your thoughts or panic level on the rbs in Carolina?
Tara Roberts
Yeah, it's, it's like a, it's at an eight, unfortunately. Well, I'll give it a seven because here's a good thing. I think we can take this game with Andy Dalton and throw it away because it's Andy Dalton and we know that it's either going to be, you know, a really great three touchdown, 400 yards or it's just going to be trash. And unfortunately, well, we got the trash version here. So when you're looking at the negative thing is that we don't know for sure that Bryce Young will be back next week. So we're just crossing our fingers. But when Bryce Young was the starting quarterback, the offense was balanced, right? And the defense, this was a bad matchup for them to keep it close but the defense was being confident enough to keep things close. They were in competitive games and when they're in competitive games they can lead on the run. So they actually do run a lot. They don't, they don't lean aggressively on the pass or anything. They're very balanced offense and we're successful on the ground. This just didn't showcase it. So I'm not at a full blown panic because they have been effective on the ground and in better matchups they can be effective. But unfortunately, this being a committee, it's not going to work from us. From a fantasy perspective, how about the.
Scott Bogman
Bears mixing between Swift and Manangai? That ticked up a little bit more this week as well. And it seems to be working better for both running backs. Right? Like Swift, not so much this week, but the two previous weeks massive games with fewer touches. I think it's because you're keeping him gassed up for the fourth quarter. What are your thoughts on that one?
Tara Roberts
Yeah, I completely agree with you on that one. We don't want to have too many touches for DeAndre Swift. You know, we've seen him in this Ben Johnson offense before and he's very electric. So this this kind of playing one off of the other. I like it. I wish we had more of a defined like you know, Kyle Manangai at the goal line type of situation, but DeAndre Swift has been effective so you don't necessarily need that. I like it a lot. You know, you just got to realize that on a week to week basis Manangai might not offer you that standalone value. You do have to pinpoint and try and figure out like is it going to be a game where we can see the. A little bit of garbage time maybe in the later half and get an upgrade or an uptick of volume from an ungai. But yeah, he's. He's one that is absolutely a stash. He needs to be rostered in leagues. I think everyone's on board with that. He finally jumped up to like over 40% so we're good on that. You know, he's a, he's a good handcuff. They run the ball well. The offensive line is clicking from that perspective there and DeAndre Swift is trustworthy so I like this little dynamic that they have.
Scott Bogman
Any, any worry about him or would you maybe add on a deep roster? P. Ryan has been getting a little bit of love in this Bengals backfield as well. I hate it. I wanted Brooks to be the guy. I think we've seen a lot of Samaj but he looks good last couple weeks. He looks good enough to be a number two back anyway. So any worry about Chase Brown? I'm not too worried about it. I just think that. I just think they want to mix a little bit more than we would like. But I mean, P. Ron looks okay. Is he, Is he. Are you worried about Chase Brown because of Samaj P. Ryan at all?
Tara Roberts
No, I feel about as positive about Chase Brown as we have been all season. You know, it's good to see P. Ryan getting this action. I think, you know, maybe this uptake was more so. He looked particularly good in this game. So maybe they kept him in there in terms of trying to ride that hot hand a little bit here because before then we didn't have. He was involved. Right. And he looked good. This is not the first time. Right. So we weren't really getting that kind of, you know, double digit standalone value there. I still think that Chase Brown is going to be the heavy lean there, but I don't, I don't mind this, but we need to be cautious about Samaj P. Ryan because I know that'll be one where we maybe go to the waivers and think about, hey, you know Big game this and, you know, changes coming, maybe not trustworthy on a week to week basis there.
Scott Bogman
You should view him as a handcuff. Right? Like if something were to happen to Brown, that's the. P. Ryan is the guy you want because they're playing him over Taj Brooks right now. So Natasha Brooks is a good back, but that's not one of those. Like, you know how Haskins was ahead of Vidal, right?
Tara Roberts
Yeah.
Scott Bogman
And then when Vidal came in, I was like, well, Haskins is a special teams guy too. I think Vidal is a better back. Right. And that obviously worked. It wasn't what they gave us. All the reporters were saying it was going to be Haskins and it wasn't Vidal. So I, I don't think Taj Brooks is like that to P. Ryan. It wouldn't be the most shocking thing I've ever seen. But P. Ryan looks good and they're actually giving him touches. I mean, Haskins wasn't getting anything when. Before Hampton got hurt, so. Or not much of anything, so. All right, let's move to everybody's favorite part questions. Says Bo Nicks rest of the season. What are your thoughts on Bo Nicks.
Tara Roberts
Top 10 rest of season? Again, we. I talked about a little bit there. He. He gets streaky when he gets hot and he appears to be on a little bit of a hot streak here. We would have thought a little bit more volume here, a little bit more fantasy points in this matchup. But again, we got the random uptick and touchdowns from RJ Harvey. So it's not as if the offense didn't exist. It just randomly went in that direction in terms of fantasy value there. But we need to trust them. I know that early season was problematic, but Trust them rest of season for sure.
Scott Bogman
This one from Atlantic City. Phil Vidal or Breeze hall rest of the season.
Tara Roberts
Oddly enough, that is that, that's the trade candidate everyone was floating to go to LA Breeze Hall. So we don't, we don't know when Hampton is going to be back. Right. So that does put a little bit of a caveat there in terms of O Vidal is in the better offense. Whoever is running as the lead back there for the Chargers has been successful but we do have a time limit there unfortunately. So you know, hey, if you're in a position where you're maybe have a losing record and you need the higher pop right now. Yeah, my Vidal might give that to you but long term haul because that is his. He's a starting running back rest of season.
Scott Bogman
All right, this one from Coke Butter Cheese says Giants fan and Scat owner. I'm absolute destroyed. But hey, Tet, Rome, Harvey and Hall all came through for me. I still feel terrible. Should I drop Pollard for Burchard Smith? I just saw Scat and my other running backs are ETN Hubbard Harvey either 5 and 3 or 6 and 2 after this week 12 team half PPR. So I think actually the first one was just to brag about this one is from Thassel. Should I drop Pollard or Burchard Smith? I just lost Scat for my other running backs or ETN Hubbard Harvey. What are your thoughts there?
Tara Roberts
I would still hold on to Pollard because we do know that. So first of all, Pollard and you know Tasha Spears are a committee. But Rashad Smith is not overtaken anyone in that backfield. And I love him, I do love him and his value that he offers from a receiving perspective. But he is not taking over Isaiah Pacheco. So from that extent he is in a committee as well, technically a 3ish man committee there. And his upside is specifically pass catching. Right. So at the very least if Tajie Spears goes down, Pollard ascends to exactly what he was before. Right. More trustworthy in terms of being a steady RP2. So yeah, we still have to stick with Pollard for that. For that reason.
Scott Bogman
Let's see Franklin or Madre rest of the season.
Tara Roberts
I mean it depends on what you need, right? But yeah, I mean in theory Ramandre would be the one. Franklin is the. He's the wide receiver too. He will pop in good matchups, right? We, we know that for sure. This was the steady proof of he is the wide receiver too. Cortland Sutton, there is weekly flex value for him. Ramondre is the RB one. So he is a frustrating back and we don't trust him overall and we don't trust the Patriots. Technically, that is Ramon Dre.
Scott Bogman
Yeah, I mean, he's just guaranteed touches. That's the thing. Like, you know, Franklin could get touches from here on out to the end of the season. They could easily start throwing. I mean, you saw Pat Bryant's great catch, right? Mims is still there. RJ Harvey had three touchdowns. There's so many weapons for the Broncos. There's just not that many for the Patriots. And Ramandre has been one of the main guys. So let's see. Mr. Nice Guy, both Ravens D got healthy in Chicago. Offense been mostly. Oh, Caleb's still not a good quarterback. I thought this was a question, just a comment. So, yes, Mr. Nice Guy. I agree with that. 100. Let's see. I think. Oh, here we go. Let's see. Do I keep Purdy or drop Tired of holding him now that I have Bo Nicks, but I'm three and five. So are we holding on to. Are we holding on to Purdy? I mean, if it's super flex, you have to hold on to him.
Tara Roberts
Yeah.
Scott Bogman
I think in a one quarterback you can cut Purdy, right?
Tara Roberts
Yeah. And one quarterback, you can cut them again. We've seen, you know, we've seen inconsistencies in that offense and we know that they do want to run through Christian McAfee on Christian McCaffrey on the ground there. So ultimately, Bo Nix has higher upside anyway, on a week to week basis, you're probably going to be starting Bo Nice Knicks, so you can, you can drop him and try and get out there and get something that's gonna maybe actually have a chance to, you know, high upside, turn your season around.
Scott Bogman
Mr. Mr. Chadden says is Jefferson worth it for the rest of the season, which Justin Jefferson. Yes. I think so.
Tara Roberts
Yeah.
Scott Bogman
And you know, changing anything, I mean, I know their quarterback issues. It's still Justin Jefferson though, right?
Tara Roberts
Yeah, for sure. And we, you know, we got to remember that, you know, we didn't see a ton of him with JJ McCarthy, but we also got to remember that in addition to that, we didn't see that version with Jordan Addison. And Addison's presence helps Justin Jefferson. So yeah, I would like to see all three of these together.
Scott Bogman
Yeah, we haven't seen that offense healthy the entire year. Right. Because Addison was suspended, then McCarthy got hurt. And let's not forget, like, you know, if there's just a little bit of improvement in McCarthy's game, look what A little bit of improvement look like for for Jamar Chase. Right. I think wasn't it another 12 or 13 targets today after his 23 against Pittsburgh on Thursday night. So the upper echelon players are the upper echelon. A lot of them are quarterback proof. Sometimes you can't be because of game script. Right. And I think that's been a little bit what Jefferson's going through. But I wouldn't trade him right now. I think you'd be selling low for sure.
Tara Roberts
Yeah.
Scott Bogman
Let's see Nelson ask are you concerned for Jake Ferguson? It looked like he was was splitting snaps with two other tight ends. So any instant worries coming off that game about Jake Ferguson? Maybe we'll have to dig a little deeper on a snap count and things like that. I don't think I'm too worried. But I also don't roster Jake Ferguson anywhere so it's easy for me to say that.
Tara Roberts
Yeah, yeah. I didn't look at the snaps from that game either. So I don't know how much they were involved. I know we got that, you know that, you know, frustrating touchdown for him. Yeah. So no, I don't think so. Especially because those tight ends have existed for a while while with them. So it's not a new development or new, new young guys that they want to work in. We know that Jeff Ferguson is the, is the tight end one in that offense. So no, I think it's just a weird anomaly that they were throwing targets the other way.
Scott Bogman
Would you rather trade away Gadson or Kittle rest of the season? If you're rostering both?
Tara Roberts
Whichever one you can get highest value for, quite frankly. Yeah, you might be able to get a big poll from someone on Gadsden. You might be able to. So don't be afraid to shop either one around and see which one you get the most bang for your buck for.
Scott Bogman
Like as the words were coming out of your mouth there, I was like, I think it would be kiddo because you'd get more. And then I went, maybe not me.
Tara Roberts
After that Thursday game, everyone's like, he looked pretty good.
Scott Bogman
Qj I had him in two spots. Qj.
Tara Roberts
Oh no.
Scott Bogman
What about Kittle and Daniel Jones for a big time quarterback if you have Fanon? I'm doing.
Tara Roberts
Yeah, I don't mind that at all.
Scott Bogman
A lot of Titans to pick up like. So if anyone gets hurt, I think you can pick somebody up. But I think I would try to make the upgrade if I possibly could.
Tara Roberts
Yeah, I would do that.
Scott Bogman
That was from Phillipsy. I'm not giving up on Jake. I I think that's everything guys. So I think that is going to do it for us. And look Tara, we get to go and watch our team warm up a little bit and see all of Sunday Night Football now and one of us is going to be crying at the end of that game. Scott Bogman and Tara Roberts delivered a comprehensive week 8 reaction episode, centered on crushing RB injuries, shifting depth charts, and how fantasy managers can aggressively pursue waivers and trades in a depleted RB landscape. Major takeaways include the critical waiver status of Tyrone Tracy, the importance of being proactive with RB3 trade targets, and measured optimism for offenses like the Jets, Texans, and Ravens. The panic meter flagged the Saints, Panthers, and Titans as risky fantasy assets, while listener Q&A covered critical rest-of-season outlooks for underperformers and promising adds.
