Violet
You think I'm patriotic about economics? Patriotic when we're spending more money on bombs than we are for like social programs?
Caleb Hammer
Literally just got the information that you were just wrong and yet you're still doubling down.
Violet
I'm a military kid and I can tell you that shit is not needed.
Caleb Hammer
What do you mean?
Violet

things that you don't know anything about.
Violet

I would love to.
Caleb Hammer
Then the one that gives everything is the one that likes it. Leave her. Where?

Violet
Hi, I'm Violet and I'm 24.
Darone
Hi, I'm Darone and I'm 27 and we live in New Braunfels, Texas.
Violet
And this is Financial Audit.
Caleb Hammer
Thanks for coming up from New Braunfels, y'. All. All right. I love a good couple's episode. What do you do for a living, Violet?
Violet
I am a student and an artist.
Caleb Hammer
24. Okay. Artist. Well, yes, yeah, Future barista. I see it with your hair. Also, what is it with like tall kind of fat men and like goth women? It's a collection. Like they collect one. It's just like they're born and destined for each other. Like, I don't know, do you collect the tall fatty or does the tall collect the gothy?
Violet
I love tall fatties. I'm not going to lie.
Caleb Hammer
Like, I like that fat, but like, no, I like chubby cuz they're super tall.
Darone
Yeah, it kind of evens it out.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah, I guess it does even it out. So you don't make anything?
Violet
I have a business that does technically make money, but I don't.
Caleb Hammer
What's this? What is it?
Violet
So essentially it's a sticker business. I go to markets and it centers around.
Darone
Oh my God.
Caleb Hammer
It's one of those things I pull up to every weekend and they all have the same pop ups with little knickknacks people made in a spare bedroom.
Violet
Booty frog.
Caleb Hammer
Wow. You're just as unique as all the other people making really weird things that think they're unique. Yes, it's every place now. It's every little place. I'm like, oh, I'm going to a cute little farmer's market. And it's just like everyone's selling their spare bullshit they make.
Darone
I. You'd be surprised at like what people will pay for a lot of the stuff.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, I'm sure they do. I'm. I'm sure they do. I mean, that's why they're again everywhere. It's kind of crazy. So what does this business make of which you make nothing from?
Violet
So total revenue, I want to say in the last year it's been around 50k. And then what?
Caleb Hammer
And you've made nothing?
Violet
I don't pay myself.
Caleb Hammer
Where does it go?
Violet
Primarily back into the business. I believe in reinvesting into my business as much as possible. So.
Caleb Hammer
Well, what's the future of this business that the investing would get us towards?
Violet
Primarily just variation in products.
Caleb Hammer
Variation in booty frogs.
Violet
Yes.
Caleb Hammer
So they show One hole there and a different hole there.
Violet
Oh, no, we don't show the hole. Just.
Caleb Hammer
But what's the variation?
Violet
Okay, okay, so like stickers, pins, magnets, keychains.
Caleb Hammer
Do you employ any one? How are you putting 50,000 hours into this? There it is.
Violet
I employ my little sibling.
Caleb Hammer
How old they are?
Violet
18.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, okay, okay, okay. How much do you pay them? 50,000 a year. So really, do they reap all the rewards of your business? Is that what's happening here?
Violet
Kind of, essentially, yeah.
Caleb Hammer
How do you feel about this? Cuz that means all the bills are on your shoulders.
Darone
Not a huge fan about it.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah, I would. I would bet. Okay, so you bring in zero. You say you're a student too. What does that. What's that situation?
Violet
So I'm an art student. So I get money from the VA to pay for my.
Caleb Hammer
Why?
Violet
Because both my parents are 100% disabled, so I have chapter 35.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, okay. So you don't pay anything for college.
Violet
Nope.
Caleb Hammer
And you're using that opportunity for a art degree?
Violet
Yep.
Caleb Hammer
You picked up the goth one. Other political stickers. I thought they're booty stickers.
Violet
They're booty stickers. Political stickers. I think art is inherently political.
Darone
I mean, you know.
Caleb Hammer
What do you mean inherently political? If I composed a piece of music, that just sounds like number one Victory Royale.
Violet
Yeah.
Darone
Fortnite.
Caleb Hammer
That's political.
Violet
Not necessarily.
Caleb Hammer
It's not inherently political. That's just take. What do you do for a living?
Darone
I am an R and D software engineer at a university.
Caleb Hammer
There we go. Now we know how the bills are paid because we know 50,000, which actually is, like, good for the small business just getting started, but you just blow it all. Now you had. What does the employee even do?
Violet
They're mainly in charge of inventory management and making sure that the products that we have are.
Caleb Hammer
Why can't you do this yourself?
Violet
Because if I did this myself, I wouldn't be able to go to school.
Caleb Hammer
For your art degree, you're building a business. Why is that more important? Building a business of which people are showing demand, of which the marketplace is actually giving you a thumbs up. I would want to double down and go full steam.
Violet
No, that's what I want to do.
Caleb Hammer
Then do it.
Violet
He requires me to get a degree.
Caleb Hammer
Requires. What is he, your daddy? What the is happening?
Violet
Pays my bills.
Caleb Hammer
Kind of. The VA does. I do. Hello. That's me.
Violet
For the most part. It's him.
Caleb Hammer
Why pay for your degree? Of what? You're getting an art degree. So you want. You're forcing her to go to school. And you're okay with the art degree?
Darone
I mean, that wasn't the first degree that we talked about.
Caleb Hammer
Should be the last.
Darone
Originally, there was talk of being psychologist, a psychiatrist, or.
Caleb Hammer
Well, you look like you just give everyone their mental health. Tick tock diagnosis, the diagnostic medicine, regardless of anything. I don't know if I would want you to be a psychiatrist. I don't think you just enable everyone. Okay, okay. But what about this business? It makes money. Why can't she? Why do you control her? Why the Are you just like, oh, you do what I say?
Darone
I think there's a couple reasons, but one of them probably does come down to some, like, family issues that my family is very big on education, and everyone in my family focuses on having.
Caleb Hammer
I'm glad I have a family that's more entrepreneurial than the endless degree collecting because we actually end up being successful in life other than just having pieces of paper on a wall. I'm sorry, why is pieces of wall. Why is a piece of paper more important than what we actually accomplish in life?
Darone
I mean, an art professor. How else are you gonna be an art professor without a degree?
Caleb Hammer
Is that what she wants to do? Overrunning her business?
Darone
Daddy, that's a good question. I would say good question.
Caleb Hammer
It seems to be. You're the one answering it.
Violet
I would prefer to do my business.
Caleb Hammer
Hey, why the can't. What do these conversations go like, why the can't you stand up and just be your own applaud?
Violet
Oh, I do. But at the end of the day, if getting a degree is the only thing he asks of me.
Caleb Hammer
Only thing he asks. You've been in school for seven years and being told I've been in. Only thing I. Only thing he asked. This is. This is a massive percentage of your life. This is about. We're going on like, a whole six. I don't know, what, 10, 16, 16% of your life? I don't know. Something crazy.
Darone
I would say that at the end of the day, we need the money from the VA for their schooling, and that brings in more than, like, this is the opportunity to finally get their degree. They won't get this opportunity again.
Caleb Hammer
I'm assuming their means yours. Are we on the they them pronoun pipeline?
Violet
I mean, I have blue hair. I don't.
Caleb Hammer
We're not surprised.
Violet
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
Should I ask you yours or do we.
Darone
I'm kind of fine with anything.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, great. I love that. Sure. Why not? Okay, so art degree. They. Them, blue hair. We get it. But here's the thing. If her business is making. If their business is making $50,000 without her putting. Without. Here we go. Without their putting any effort. Without them putting any effort. It's like I'm learning English again. I swear. I'm so sorry. I'm not intending to be disrespectful. Without them putting effort into their business. $50,000. Not a lift of a finger practically right now, but imagine what it could be if she's actually.
Darone
Let's be real. That's revenue.
Caleb Hammer
Yes, it's revenue, but if she. Oh, my.
Darone
That's not profit. Like, at the end of the day,
Caleb Hammer
can I be like. Name the phobic of your choice. I don't care. Can I be phobic for a second? Can't you just be her for a second? So I could just speak? So I could just say words.
Violet
I don't mind anything.
Caleb Hammer
Thank you. I just want to be able to talk without doing equations in my brain. Oh, my gosh. I went to school. I learned him and her. I respect pronouns. I don't give a technically, do what you want to do.
Violet
You also use they them when you don't know the gender of the person.
Darone
I mean, they them goes back to Shakespeare.
Caleb Hammer
So good.
Violet
So good.
Caleb Hammer
So good. New spring arrivals are at Nordstrom rack stores now.
Violet

Darone
How did I not know rack has Adidas? Because there's always something new.
Violet
Join the Nordy Club to unlock exclusive discounts. Shop new arrivals first and more. Plus, buy online and pick up at your favorite rack store for free. Great brands, great prices.
Caleb Hammer
That's why you rack. In what context? I mean, again, I don't care about pronouns. I'm down with pronouns. I'm just. I want to. I just want to talk here. I'm talking about money in your legs. I'm not trying to jump through hoops to be the good guy. Okay. So, yes. I mean, I say they when I don't know things. Absolutely. But also, I mean, when a chick with, like, her nipples showing through her thing in front of me is there, I'm thinking woman. It's not that. It's. And it's not. Yeah, I don't. I don't want to go down the rabbit hole. I respect it. And I typically say the pronouns. And I don't really. I'm very, like, freedom oriented to do whatever you want to do. I really don't give. I'm just trying to talk. I'm Just trying to talk and it's complicated. It's complicated. Imagine I'm just going to begin. Do I have consent for she.
Violet
Yes.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. If she is barely even touching her business and full focus is on school and even with her employee doing inventory management is making 50,000 hours. Imagine what it could be if she was putting her full focus on her business. That could be four times. That could be $200,000. That could be $200,0000.
Darone
But the thing is is that I think that the business is currently at capacity at $50,000.
Caleb Hammer
How do you think this entrepreneurial king. Because where's your assessment?
Darone
My assessment is based on the fact that of how much money they make per event, how many events they can run per year. There's only one of the events at school.
Caleb Hammer
And also you could just come up to Austin again. I say I walk around a corner and there's one of these pop ups. They're everywhere.
Darone
I just went to Asian festival every week. That's only $52,000.
Caleb Hammer
Thousand do per pop up. Thousand dollar per pop up. She could probably pay $250 for someone to run a pop up somewhere.
Violet
See, that's why I've been wanting to grow my team and like at least get more of a team.
Darone
But you want to grow your team with other art students that don't go to work.
Caleb Hammer
No, that's perfect.
Violet
It's an art business.
Caleb Hammer
That's perfect. She wants to work with art students. She can pay a minimum wage. They're worth nothing. It's easy. Well, yeah, well they're not getting a job anywhere else.
Darone
Fair enough.
Caleb Hammer
She's actually in the correct marketplace.
Violet
And then that way I can also like pay them to go sell at the events. They can start getting more experience for themselves. I've even thought about doing like the three month. The three month internship into like.
Caleb Hammer
Listen, I mean here's the reality. The fact is there's a big disconnect here. I know people like you, it's not necessarily a bad thing. But you and your family have ingrained in your brain the Derek the degree collection mentality. You think college and education is above all else. But you don't realize the actual education that happens when scaling a business. You don't realize the actual education that happens out in the real world outside of just a classroom. Classroom isn't the only place you learn in this world. People that just collect degrees, they might become a professor in the end. But the most successful people in this entire world that have led generations of entrepreneurs are actually college dropouts that's the fact is the most successful people tend to be entrepreneurial, driven. You're a degree collector. Nobody respects those except for other degree collectors.
Darone
I mean I would say that at least for me, collecting a degree has been very profitable, has been very capable.
Caleb Hammer
You're an engineer. You're an engineer. You could have done that with a certification, you would have been fine. I just had one on the show the other day. How much do you make?
Darone
I make 110.
Caleb Hammer
Very good. That guy was making 100.
Darone
No degree that's good for him.
Caleb Hammer
That's good for him. And a lot of other people I know through like course career certifications and whatnot, they go ahead and get. They get a certification, they get $100,000 job. Your degree collection didn't do it. Your skills did it. And getting a degree was good, but people have been able to do it without certificate with certifications. Now don't get me wrong, he is
Violet
talking about leaving his job.
Caleb Hammer
Well, not only that, but the labor market is aggressively hard right now. I will say so. Degree might push you over that edge a bit more, but experience will push you over the edge any day over that degree. The people that are struggling right now the most are right out of college who don't have those experience. And a more advanced degree could help them. But you want to leave anyway. Yeah. And do what?
Darone
I want to get my PhD.
Caleb Hammer
Oh for sake.
Darone
In, in robotics engineering.
Caleb Hammer
And what you going to do?
Darone
I'm planning to either work for another research laboratory or I'm planning to go into industry.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, listen. I mean robotics is great. Robotics is the future. I'm not necessarily inherently opposed to this. However, this is the income that brings. Well, that pays the bills.
Darone
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
And if you continue to force her to go to school instead of actually making money, it's the only income that pays the bills. Also, why is it taking you seven years? Why are you such a failure?
Violet
Because I have to keep dropping out in order to pay for it. I had to pick up a full time job as a stripper to be able to pay for my school.
Caleb Hammer
You still do that now?
Violet
No.
Caleb Hammer
How long did you strip?
Violet
About four years.
Caleb Hammer
What? You were full titty titty flapping, flapping butthole.
Violet
Yep.
Caleb Hammer
You went butthole?
Violet
I had to do nude when I was 16.
Caleb Hammer
It was the 18 plus bars.
Violet
Yep.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, that shit's intense.
Darone
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
Did you ever do anything under the table?
Violet
Nope.
Caleb Hammer
I've been told that happens.
Violet
It does. I don't think it's worth it. I've seen other people do it.
Caleb Hammer
It's probably not worth it.
Violet
It's definitely not worth it.
Caleb Hammer
No, that's good.
Darone
That lowers herself usually. Yeah, it lowers what you make like.
Violet
It lowers what you make and it also lowers what everybody else make.
Caleb Hammer
That's weird.
Violet
Okay.
Darone
I had lots of stripper friends, so it worked out.
Caleb Hammer
Is that where you.
Darone
No.
Caleb Hammer
Collected her?
Violet
No, we met in high school.
Darone
Someone skipped a grade and.
Violet
Yeah, I skipped a grade and he did.
Caleb Hammer
How old were you?
Darone
I was 17.
Caleb Hammer
Which means you were 14. Yes, that is a bit uncomfortable. Like 17. If it was like you were 21 and 17. I feel a little less comfortable. But 14's like 14s. 14 is crazy young.
Darone
I didn't know their age until their birthday.
Violet
Yeah, he didn't know I was 14 until I turned 15.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, oh, okay, listen. It doesn't matter. It was so long ago. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. It's just like. It's just. Yeah, when I hear 13, 14, I start. My brain starts firing. Okay, Okay. I mean I don't care. People date all up in the grades in high school. I don't know. This isn't TikTok. Moral masturbation, weird freak out about everything. Okay, so the main issue here though that I'm being. That I'm being told specifically is that you just hate that he's trying to shove Dave Ramsey down your throat. And I love you big fat. I know you love big fat daddy being shoved down your throat. And Dave is one. Thank you, David. Well, probably ought to do some more research than that.
Violet
Yeah, we did Dave Ramsey for about five years.
Caleb Hammer
How do you do it for five years? It's not a five year thing. What do you mean you did Dave Ramsey for five years?
Violet
Well, we tried the cash stuffing method for five years.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah. What the happened? You guys are. Hey, hey. You guys are. I don't think David worked for you. Cash stuffing. That's not even bad. Like I don't. What do you mean? How do you struggle with that for five years and get more. What are you doing?
Violet
We kind of got with credit cards about a year ago.
Caleb Hammer
Oh yeah, that's my favorite Dave Ramsey strategy. Open credit cards.
Violet
Well, that's where we started disagreeing on the Dave Ramsey thing. I thought.
Caleb Hammer
And now you guys are fucked. Yeah, interesting. Maybe old fatty knows more than blue haired freak.
Violet
Entirely possible.
Caleb Hammer
Listen, I disagree with him on credit cards in general, but for the average person, I mean, you guys are. You have no self control. You have no self control on anything. I Mean, his advice applies to the average person pretty correctly. Guys are children in the way you live your lives endlessly in school. Well, endlessly in school.
Violet
It doesn't help that I buy a lot of designs.
Caleb Hammer
What have you guys accomplished in life up to this point that actually is tangible and real? I'm gonna say nothing, but let's say,
Violet
well, we own a condo and we have a baby.
Caleb Hammer
You have a child?
Violet
Yes.
Caleb Hammer
You were stripping when you had a child?
Violet
No, I stopped stripping after having a child.
Caleb Hammer
Were you popular?
Violet
Yes.
Caleb Hammer
Okay.
Violet
I was one of the highest earning strippers that were there.
Caleb Hammer
You're relatively attractive, so I think it makes sense. Oh, but then you immediately started an of.
Violet
Yes.
Caleb Hammer
Sake. Here we go.
Violet
I had to.
Caleb Hammer
Had to. What is this? Had to?
Violet
Management required it.
Caleb Hammer
Huh?
Violet
As part of stripping? Yeah. When I was a stripper, management required it as part of my advertisement.
Caleb Hammer
That's interesting. Okay, you've deleted it.
Violet
I haven't deleted it.
Caleb Hammer
No, you haven't deleted it.
Violet
It's mainly where my regulars from when I was stripping still support. So I still get not a lot of money, but it's like a little bit of money that can pay for dinner every week.
Caleb Hammer
Hold on, Wait, are you still posting?
Violet
No.
Caleb Hammer
Wait, how are they giving you money? They just forgot to cancel. What are you bringing in with us? I'll put that down as the income.
Violet
I don't actually know. I think it's around $60 a week.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, okay. Okay, okay. Okay. So 242. 40amonth, which you would have to pay taxes on. But I mean, with that, it's like, so. So nothing. Okay. It's interesting. How long has it been since you've posted on it?
Violet
I haven't posted on it in. I want to say, like, two years.
Caleb Hammer
That's good. That's good. I'm happy. I want women to get out of that pipeline.
Violet
Has it only been a year?
Darone
It's only been a year.
Caleb Hammer
Either way, I'm happy to get. I'm happy to hear women getting out of the pipeline, especially as a mother. How old's the kid?
Violet
14 months.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. Have they decided the pronouns yet?
Darone
We're letting them decide later on.
Caleb Hammer
And what are you. What's your. What's your net?
Darone
My net is. So I just started this job, so I'm still, like, seeing what it is after taxes, but I think my net is around 5,800amonth. And then I also get disability from the va. Why do you get a disability?
Caleb Hammer
You were in the military?
Darone
I was in the Navy for two years.
Caleb Hammer
What'd you do?
Violet
Okay, he went to school, and the Navy paid for it. And then he got out medically.
Darone
I was Naval reserve. And then.
Caleb Hammer
And what's your disability other than your
Darone
hair, Depression and anxiety?
Caleb Hammer
What's the net again? 5,500.
Darone
Yeah, sorry, 5,800 for the salary. And then the money that I get from the VA is around, like, 2,070.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, so what are the financial conversations in this household? You want to leave. You want to barely make any money being a PhD student somewhere.
Darone
However, how I will get more money from the VA when I go back to school.
Caleb Hammer
Okay.
Darone
2400 extra on top of my PhD stipend.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, well, so you're still losing, though, by. And probably 33% overall.
Darone
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
So what are the money conversations in this household? She went into stripping and of. Because you couldn't support her.
Darone
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
And now he wants you on to abandon school. And you're not allowing her to pursue. Actually, you know, it's even a little more up. She actually has a business that doesn't involve people seeing her literal clit, and you're not letting her do that. But you were okay with her stripping for four years and posting her posts online. It's like, what the. What the is this? What is this? Hey, I can tell you guys are pretty progressive, right? Okay, very good. We love that. Where's the woman empowerment? It's only empowering when they're showing areolas, and you won't empower her to go make a business on her own, and then you want to back out and go pursue a degree collection. But the entrepreneur actually bringing in $50,000 as a small business selling buts and political messages you can't support. That was the woman empowerment there?
Darone
I would say I just don't see the ability to scale the business in the same way.
Caleb Hammer
I literally brought up, like, three ways to potentially do it that you probably that, like, immediately your brain didn't even bring up, and they were the most simple things ever. I don't think. I don't think your lack of ability to see a business being able to scale because you've never been an entrepreneur in your life and your family's never been an entrepreneur in their entire lives because they're degree collectors has anything to do whether or not she should. Your ability to see it is insignificant and pointless and not a part of the conversation. I don't give a what you see. Why should she? Who are you to determine that? The man of the house. The man of the house is the one who gets to determine. Well, I don't see this business being successful. $50,000 without her doing anything on the business is pretty damn successful. Small business employs 48% of the population in this country of workforce. What do you mean you don't know what the you're doing? You're a degree collector. Get off her ass. You let her strip, but you won't let her sell? Shit. The is wrong with you?
Darone
I mean, big booty frog. I guess it can do pretty well.
Caleb Hammer
Uh huh.
Violet
It's also because he's upset about me buying designer items.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, well that would be. How much are you spending on designer items? Was it the strip money or is it money that you don't even bring in?
Violet
It started when I was stripping. I would buy stuff for myself and then after I got out of it to go back to school, I started.
Caleb Hammer
Are you spending on designer?
Violet
I don't. It like depends month to month. Like for my birthday, he got me a.
Caleb Hammer
He got you? You didn't even get it. I thought you were being criticized of you buying designer shit.
Violet
Oh, well, he did criticize me when I was buying it for myself.
Caleb Hammer
How much When? What if this is the big argument, what even is it?
Violet
It was like maybe which thing?
Darone
Cause I can remember the numbers.
Violet
Yeah, I think the bag that I have is 4K and then I have a wallet that's 4K.
Caleb Hammer
What the. In what way? You guys are drowning in debt. You were in the David Ramseth program and you're getting a 4K design or something. What the is wrong with you? What. In what world do you live in?
Violet
The world where you have to pay money to make money. That's kind of what it is.
Caleb Hammer
What world is that? Stripping. There needs to be a bag in stripping.
Violet
Hey, the more money you.
Caleb Hammer
I've been to a strip club twice. I didn't look at the bag someone had in their dressing room. In fact, I look at their titties. You suck with money. So you download a budgeting app. You start with the classic one, Ynab, but everyone just deletes it because it's way too complicated to use. So you go to every dollar. That's Dave Ramsey, the personal finance guy, right? Well, they're gonna force you to use it his way. That's not very personal finances. Rocket Money, they got a lot of commercials, but they're owned by Rocket Mortgage. Guess what they want to sell you in the end. Then there's the new guy on the block, Monarch. Hundreds of millions of dollars of private equity raising so far. But private equity doesn't have the best track record when it comes to private data. That's why I like Dollarwise. Built by these people just like you for people just like you. No private equity, no gimmicks. Just the best budgeting app there is. Download it now. Start the free trial. Dollarwise.com link in the description below. That's kind of stupid, I'll be honest. But what's not is actually getting a checking account that gives you free money. Free money. We like free money. You can get up to $350 in bonus cash right now when you sign up for the checking account that I use, Chime. Also, it makes your savings grow at a 3.5 APY interest rate. Guys, you can watch Financial Audit and get free money at the same time. Who would have thought? That's incredible. Check it out. Link in the description below. Sign up for chime. Get that $350 right now in your checking account.
Violet
You would be rare because there's a lot of men that look at the money that the strippers make.
Darone
The big spenders?
Violet
Yeah, the big spenders look for the ones that make the most money.
Caleb Hammer
What are you talking about? I got some gooners in this office and I've never heard anyone mention this.
Violet
That's. I would hope they're not spending a shit ton of money at the club
Darone
because I'm talking about pay enough for them to be spending that much at the club.
Caleb Hammer
Braunfels even has this.
Violet
No, this was when I was living in dc.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, the politics. Well, the DC is a different culture though. DC is a very.
Violet
DC is very big about like what you make and like what you look like, how you show it, what you look like, all that kind of stuff. So I got into getting designer stuff because of that. And then I just kind of got who's politician dick.
Caleb Hammer
Did you suck?
Violet
None.
Caleb Hammer
That's a shame.
Violet
Just his dick is the only dick I've sucked in the last nine years.
Caleb Hammer
Rip.
Darone
I don't know. I think it's pretty nice. I can show you later.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. Okay. Again, I want to know how these conversations go. Guys, I need to see some insight into this household.
Violet
I'm the one who does most of the budgeting, so I sit down and I budget for the month because he gets paid monthly and so does the VA and everything.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, okay. Why aren't you a part of these budgeting conversations and I'm part of the conversation? What do you mean, what does it look like then?
Violet
It's mainly just us talking about what we're going to allot to what? For each month. So like.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, you actually go through that?
Violet
Yes.
Caleb Hammer
We also do spend last month. What was the outflow? Tell me. You should know this. Budgeting kings.
Darone
I think I know how much it was.
Violet
And it was bad last month. It was really bad because I lost track of it. Think it was about.
Caleb Hammer
It's always the month we have out of all the months. Oh, we lost track of that one. That got a little weird.
Violet
I mean that is why we came here is because I lost track of it and I wanted to be better within one month. Yes.
Darone
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
What do you mean? You wouldn't be in this much debt from one month. That's. No, no.
Violet
We're in this much debt from one month. So what happened? Well, someone decided to buy a computer and all new parts at the peak of the most expensive time to buy computer parts.
Caleb Hammer
Why?
Darone
So I'm currently pursuing my grad studies part time.
Caleb Hammer
Okay.
Darone
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
Right.
Darone
And back at my old work, I had a $10,000 workstation to actually get all of my SIM done on.
Caleb Hammer
Uh huh.
Darone
And I didn't have that anymore, so I had to build something.
Caleb Hammer
Had to?
Darone
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
You would die without it.
Darone
I wouldn't be able to finish my work. I have simulations that take up 32 gigs of vram. Take up.
Caleb Hammer
The school that you're studying with doesn't have a rig for this?
Darone
No, they don't actually. It's actually really shitty.
Caleb Hammer
Then why are you there in a shitty program?
Darone
Because it's a really highly rated program.
Caleb Hammer
He's a highly rated. Yet they don't provide any resources. Makes no sense.
Darone
I smoked pot with John Johnny Hopkins.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah. That makes no sense that they wouldn't provide. That's so stupid.
Darone
No, it is.
Caleb Hammer
Well, so what was the outcome? What did you spend on that?
Darone
I think in total, all the parts. And I recycled some old parts too.
Violet
You did not recycle old parts.
Darone
No, my GPUs. I kept the old GPUs one part. That's two parts.
Violet
One of the parts alone was over $2,000.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah. Okay.
Darone
That was just the RAM though.
Violet
And you bought two of them rams.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah.
Darone
Yeah, I think I spent 7k on it.
Caleb Hammer
Crazy. You guys are dying in debt 7k again for your degree collection. It isn't actually even providing anything for the household. Do you not understand the difference there where she's out actually contributing to this world and you're doing nothing but a ego boost.
Darone
I mean, if I miss my degree.
Caleb Hammer
She's earning money, you're spending money.
Darone
Double my income.
Caleb Hammer
Potentially but the thing is, in the worst situation you guys have ever been in, in order for your degree collection, you're putting all that money in there.
Darone
I need more degrees in order to get where I need to go.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah, no one's ever made that much money without degrees to a certain point, is what I'm saying. It's the timing thing, man. It's the timing. Worst time to spend, by the way. That doesn't even account for. I mean, you guys spent outflows 25,000 hours where income was 12. Like, so that doesn't even make up for that whole amount. Yeah, but even still, when we're already at going even further in the holes. Insane.
Darone
I mean, I needed to get my work done. There was no other way.
Violet
Well, you didn't need the cat litter robots.
Darone
I work all day. I can't. I come home and you shouldn't have cats.
Caleb Hammer
You can't take care of them.
Darone
I was taking care of them by getting the cat litter robots.
Violet
We had one litter box, and then I was like, let's get more of these stainless steel litter boxes that are like 40 bucks each. And he said, no, I only want more litter boxes if it's the litter robots and not any of the refurbished ones. We have to get the brand new one.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah, but you're a retaliatory spender. Colton's telling me from your guys's spending. Like, quote, if you get to spend on what you want, then I get to buy what I want.
Violet
Yes.
Caleb Hammer
No. Do we not care about the household? If he's up, let him get up to a certain point. Leave them. Maybe if you guys disagree. But not just that. I mean, I don't want you guys to actually separate. But why does that mean you should dig, you guys, your. The household into a worse position?
Violet
Because at the time, we thought that we had enough for both of us to be able to spend and cover it. That's where I lost track of the transactions, is we kept promising, like, the same 4,000 to something different.
Caleb Hammer
How do you guys even. I don't even think you know how to budget. Like, what. What the are you guys doing? I mean, you spent more than double that came in. This isn't about $4,000 being allocated here and there. Like, I don't. I don't understand it. Then what's going to happen when we lose 33% of the income for the house? What are we gonna do? What are we gonna do?
Darone
I planned it for, like, two and a half years. I'm not planning on doing it.
Caleb Hammer
Huh.
Darone
I'm not planning to do it for another like two and a half years, though.
Caleb Hammer
What happens then that doesn't magically change the situation? She'll still be in school until she's
Violet
dead, so hopefully I'll be in my master's program by that point.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, good. Master's in something that will never return its investment. Why are you. Don't let him influence you on this. Pursue your fucking. Your passion is actually showing numbers on the paper. Most people that pursue a dumb little business, honestly, yes, it's a complete failure, but you actually have promising results. Do it. This is actual female empowerment I want to do.
Violet
I just. The biggest issue is that I think it would be worth going for it full time and really pouring my heart into it.
Caleb Hammer
Yes.
Violet
But everyone I've ever talked to around me says that my degree is first.
Caleb Hammer
They're cowards. They're cowards. They're cowards. I mean, I would relatively agree. Score more with the college branded Venmo

free in general, if you were preferably getting a better degree and your business had never shown any promise. If you're like, well, I, I want to drop out just to start this business. I bet. All right, let's pause, let's pause, let's think. Don't be. But instead you have something that has brought in 50,000 hours last year without you doing anything practically.
Violet
Yeah. And I have in an art degree
Caleb Hammer
being more important than that. No. You're surrounded by cowards and pussies and degree collectors.
Violet
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
There's nothing wrong with a degree too. I don't want to, I don't want to sound anti degree, but it's like when you prioritize that above all else, including contributing to this world in a real way.
Violet
Yeah. I really want my business to be the full time thing.
Caleb Hammer
Do it. Are you going to let them control you? How domineering, how domineering is he in these conversations about this business, when it
Violet
comes to the business, very.
Caleb Hammer
Tell me, what does it look like? What happens?
Violet
A lot of the times it's me talking about something I want to do to scale the business and him telling me that I need to focus on my degree, get that done as fast as possible.
Caleb Hammer
How does he tell you that? What does this conversation actually look like? I need insight here.
Violet
It really is just me going, I want to do this and him saying, you need to focus on your degree first.
Darone
Well, you want to, like, go into debt for the business.
Violet
Because I want to be able to scale the business to be bigger. And like, the problem is, is if I don't do something about it, I'm just going to get stuck and like, I won't be able to continue moving forward.
Darone
But, like, if the business can't sustain itself right now at the fact that you're not taking anything out of it for yourself, how is it going to sustain your. How is it going to sustain when you go full time on it?
Violet
Because I'll be able to, first off, I'll be able to actually put time and energy into it and I'll be able to market it, which I haven't been doing. I'll be able to, you know, post about it on social media, which has been getting us a surprising amount of orders online. I'll be able to actually focus on the online business and like, maintaining that. And I can work on getting someone to help me with the marketing. And then after that point, it should just be able to pretty much float on its own. Like, we, we don't do any marketing for the business. And it, like, it really does, like, really well for the fact that I don't do any marketing. I don't do anything to like, promote it other than go to these events. And I go to these events, I stand out. And people come and they buy things and they buy a lot of stuff. I can't. I don't want to, like, raise prices because I need to, you know, get someone to help me with marketing or something like that. I'd rather pull out a little bit of debt that I can easily pay off if I could just focus on the business.
Darone
But that's just, it's just more. It just, it's more debt. It's more things that we're trying to get out of. It's more things that we're trying to avoid. And you want to do all of this while still buying your designer bags.
Violet
If I didn't have to go to school and I didn't have to and I could, like, focus on the business. Do you think I'd have enough time to focus on designer bags?
Darone
I mean, you manage to now you manage to focus on them when you have school, when you have the business, when you like were being parents and we have to do all of that. And yet you still have time to focus on. You still have time to harp on it. So when is it? When would it be different with the business?
Violet
I'd be able to make my own money to pay for it. Did you think about that? I'd be able to bring in money so I can pay for it myself.
Caleb Hammer
What debt have you gone into?
Darone
In what way?
Caleb Hammer
What debt have you gone into? Debt, dude.
Darone
No, no, I mean like in relationship.
Caleb Hammer
What debt have you taken out?
Darone
I've taken out, let's see. I've taken out student loans.
Caleb Hammer
Cool. But she can't take out something for her future.
Darone
I mean, the way I see it is that the student loans have a much longer and much more protections. Like it has a much longer protections,
Caleb Hammer
but might not have a better return on investment.
Darone
I could see that.
Caleb Hammer
But at least also not bankruptible.
Darone
Hers would be for like an SBA loan.
Caleb Hammer
Would. SBA is sba. The way you're going about it. What kind of debt are you looking into? I'll be honest, I don't want you to go into debt. I don't think you need to. I think you can cash flow this.
Violet
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
You're already showing the results of that. So I'm against the debt as well. But for you to be vehemently against it, will go into debt for your own passions and career. Pretty hypocritical.
Violet
I don't want to go into debt for the business. I just don't with like school and everything. I don't have the time to put into the business to like make more to cash flow, something like that, or to even cash flow, like something like more people. Because the products themselves take up most of the revenue. And after that, I pay my little sibling. And then after that, we have a very little amount that I generally put back into making either different products or more stickers or more variety for the business.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah, but you're talking about getting a Birkin bag.
Violet
Ideally, I would like.
Caleb Hammer
What are we talking about? Are we caring about our business? Want to put money into our business? Are we getting a Birkin bag?
Violet
I want to put all. That's why I put all the money from my business back into my business.
Caleb Hammer
Why are you considering getting a Birkin bag?
Violet
Because.
Caleb Hammer
Because, you know the best way to have business. Good investment. The stock market's going to do better.
Violet
They return normally around like 10% each year.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, and are you actually going to exit it?
Violet
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
Really?
Violet
Yes.
Caleb Hammer
You're going to leverage against it?
Violet
I'm planning to, like obviously, once it gains more value, like sell it.
Caleb Hammer
But why not take advantage of the market, which by the way, is closer to about 12% now. But either way. Either way it's just like. And that's a huge upfront cost. We can get in with fractional stairs into the market a lot cheaper than a massive priced Birkin bag. Birkin bag? When you guys aren't even paying off debt. The best way to go into business, less risk is by having a fully funded emergency fund of approximately a year. And we've not yet.
Violet
We've had multiple emergencies.
Caleb Hammer
Exactly. But you don't now. It's a. No. Birkin bag. Cute. Birkin bag. You know, get a Birkin bag until you're out of debt and you have a fully funded emergency fund and then you're building your business. What the are you talking about?
Violet
I just think that.
Caleb Hammer
What do you think about this birkin bag thing? 16 to $20,000 for a larger model.
Darone
I see it as only plausible if it was less than like. If it was like 1% of our net worth.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, listen. The Birkin bag does not make sense at this situation. I don't understand why it's even a conversation.
Violet
It's more of a conversation because his family is big on how we present ourselves.
Darone
Okay, my honest.
Caleb Hammer
Who gives a shit? Why is it all about his family? I don't give a.
Violet
About his family because my family too.
Caleb Hammer
No, but who cares if they're having. Why are you allowing them to have that kind of outside influences? I care about my family too, but do I revolve my entire life around what they value, what they care about? No. What?
Violet
It's also so stupid, but it's also like.
Caleb Hammer
Or is it just jealousy that it grew up rich?
Violet
It might be, yeah.
Caleb Hammer
Colton tells me you are actively jealous that he grew up rich.
Violet
I am very jealous that he grew up rich. I wish I had that. I think most people would wish that they grew up rich, but.
Caleb Hammer
And that's why he's not willing to take risks. That's why he's a degree collector, because he's never actually had to build anything in his life and no one around him has. Yeah, but that's why people like you and me, that come from nothing. We're builders. They just follow along and they work for us. Dude, this is a Wendy's restaurant.
Violet
I've been trying to convince him to do something himself that's.
Caleb Hammer
Well, he doesn't have to. He is doing something great.
Violet
No, I know.
Caleb Hammer
Don't get me wrong.
Violet
I think he's really, really intelligent. I feel like could do a lot if he were to like.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, well that's.
Violet
Do something outside of it.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. I don't really care. He makes good money. I don't give a. He. He can do whatever he want. But that applies to you as well. As long as it's not an actively dumbass decision. Why'd you guys move here, by the way, from dc?
Darone
I lost my job. Yeah, I got fired in the federal fire.
Caleb Hammer
Colton told me you guys blame Trump.
Violet
Yeah, Trump him in the ass.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, for the job. Yeah.
Violet
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, you worked with the federal government. Yeah.
Violet
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
Good. Thank you. I appreciate you getting fired. I would like to not spend as much in taxes. What the. Why. Why do we employ so many people? I mean, it makes no sense.
Darone
At a federal research lab that provides goods for society, I would say is a good thing.
Violet
Well, in general, your defense.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, so Trump fired you. I guess the federal government was the highest laid off sector, but I mean it does over employ dramat.
Violet
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
So it shouldn't be a jobs program. Yeah.
Violet
So we moved over here.
Caleb Hammer
Unfortunately that didn't cut the deficit though, so it didn't even matter.
Violet
Yeah, we. We. Shortly after or like right before he got fired, we had our daughter and I was a stay at home mom with my daughter and his mom actually moved up to the street.
Caleb Hammer
Funny how tried you guys are for how incredibly not trapped you are. You make bombs to bomb people.
Darone
I told you, we seem trapped.
Caleb Hammer
You're a stay at home mom, wife and mother and you domineer her in terms of what she's allowed to do for work in her entire life. Like what the are we doing?
Violet
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
So confusing.
Violet
But I was a stay at home.
Caleb Hammer
Maybe almost like your guys's feminism is just performative, not actually resulting in anything positive for women.
Violet
I mean the. The positive part is that I get a choice and that's.
Caleb Hammer
Do you?
Violet
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
No. No, you actually don't. Are you right now, now I have to ask you, feminist to feminist, are you? Because the fact is you literally have told me in this conversation you want to build your business. He is making you get your degree. You're doing what you want. You have a choice. What, has he warped your mind this much? What do you mean? You have told me you do not have a choice. What the are you talking about? You have a choice. You went into stripping an of you have a choice. That was the only entrepreneurship he actually encouraged. What do you mean choice? There's no choice. He's not giving you a choice. Where's your choice? You don't have a choice. This isn't feminism. This isn't helping you out as a woman. You being a leader. You being a leader as a woman and pulling out. No, this is on you, buddy. I'm bringing up the shit that you're doing that she's seeing for the first time and it's hitting her there's no choice. He's not giving you a choice. And I don't want you to be all of a sudden convinced that you have a choice. It might be in love from his perspective, but it's from a domineering, perverted worldview.
Violet
I need a break.
Caleb Hammer
Take a break. Take a break. Here we go. What happened there? Cause that is the reality of her situation. And maybe she hasn't confronted it or thought about it for the first time in her entire life. You own her. It's weird. Let her pursue this. I agree. If she said, I want to open a lemonade stand and nothing's ever happened, okay, we have a bigger conversation as adults in a couple, in a relationship, as a marriage, as a future. But she has had return on investment. She has numbers on paper. Let her pursue this thing. And if she fails, it's okay because she has a strong support system with a high incoming income husband. And if you guys control your damn budget and build up an emergency fund and pay off the debt first, it wouldn't even that be a big bomb in her face. And I know you love building bombs. Okay?
Darone
I have trouble seeing it.
Caleb Hammer
Why does it matter if you have trouble seeing it? Why are you the end all be all? Why are you the dictator of this relationship? Why have you conquered the relationship village? Why are you the Houthis of the straight of this relationship? Why are you bombing any trade from going through? You're not allowing her to go out into the world and get shit done from people that demand it.
Darone
I mean, I think that I'm not the only person that informs her decision to go to school.
Caleb Hammer
Informs? Informs. Guy, she obviously looks to you and listens to you as the couple, and you guys are more trad than you're willing to admit. Come on. What the are we doing here? Just because she goes by they them, you guys are treaded up.
Darone
I think that this is one of those situations where Violet has built up in her mind what my family wants, what their family wants. And just it's become this situation where like I told Violet last night that I think I believe in the business
Caleb Hammer
and I believe you haven't said that shit here. I don't believe that.
Darone
Let me clarify. I believe in the business. If she were to work the business,
Caleb Hammer
you know, every weekend backtracking, if I've ever seen somebody. We literally established that very thing here. And you were against it. You're like, I don't see it. I don't see it. It's not happening. I don't want to see.
Darone
Because she wants to be able to spend time with. With our daughter.
Caleb Hammer
That's why you think she wants to pursue her business is just spend time with the daughter. Which by the way, wanting to spend time with the daughter, is that a bad thing?
Darone
That's not what I'm saying.
Caleb Hammer
To drop out of school.
Darone
I'm saying that. I'm saying that she believes that if she goes full time on the business, she will never have time with our daughter.
Caleb Hammer
She's the one who wants to go full time in the business.
Darone
We have different conversations about this.
Caleb Hammer
What is she not telling me? That's true.
Darone
I would say that right now I am not the main person that actually wants her to get her degree. Who is probably my mother and who
Caleb Hammer
the does she matter for?
Darone
Why?
Caleb Hammer
Who gives a. Is she here? She knew brothels. No, I don't give a. How often are they talking?
Darone
Are they.
Caleb Hammer
Are they Skyping every night? What's going on?
Darone
Talk pretty often. And when I. When, when, when Violet talks about like needing designer bags, needing all these things and talks about them being related to my family. I don't give a shit about that stuff.
Caleb Hammer
Or is your mother kind of manipulative? Is she showing that she needs to be shown all this to be impressed by her daughter in law? To be impressed of her daughter in law, I should say.
Darone
I can see it.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah. So talk to her. Instead of holding her down. Talk to your mother. Let her free. I am a peacock. You gotta let me fly. Most people who struggle with budgeting are irresponsible. They care about their money, but they get overwhelmed every time they look at it. They download an app, connect their accounts, and try tracking. But within a few days it feels like a homework assignment. They're failing. Too many categories, too many rules, too many red alerts screaming at them about what they did wrong. So of course they stopped opening it. Not because they don't care, but because it makes them feel worse. And here's what nobody talks about. The stress isn't coming from your spending. It's coming from having zero clarity in using tools that turn money into a failing grade. Have you ever thought I just want to know where my money's going without being judged for it? You're not alone. That's exactly what we built dollar wise. If you want a calm and clearer way to see where your money is going, try dollar wise. Download the app today and get a three day free trial. No setup nightmare. No manual tracking, no pressure to be perfect. Just connect your accounts, see where your money's actually going and decide if it works for you. Click below to download. Download and see if this helps you feel more in control without the stress. And if it's not a fit, cancel anytime. You you possessive oppressive freak. Man like I don't know mother mother in law. Why the would we let mother in law control our entire destiny? And if you see that you should stand up like a man, tell her to back off. Some manipulation, Some feeling of pressure to fit in when that shouldn't be it. All she should need to fit in is love. Love being welcomed to the family. Shouldn't matter what degree she has, what bag she has, what she's doing with her career. That shouldn't be the prerequisites. Checking off a list to be fit in and loved by a mother in law.
Darone
Yeah, yeah. I mean this even came in with like Violet was talking about possibly pursuing like what is it? Tattooing or so forth. Like you know, being a tattoo artist. And I talked about it to my mom being like, hey, you know we need to pay. We need more money for school. Cause you know chapter 35 barely covers it.
Caleb Hammer
Just a short break with something useful.

And my, my mom was like no. Like those people don't care about her degree or what she's getting or so forth. They don't care.
Caleb Hammer
Why are you vocal frying every word you say? Why you just talk. It's obnoxious. It's impossible to listen to.
Darone
I don't mean to. It's hard.
Caleb Hammer
You don't mean to. There's no way you don't mean to. Whenever people are just endless vocal frying, of course they mean to listen. You need to have a conversation with this family. Darone
Like a three.

Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
Bring back corn memories. Feel good?
Violet
Yeah, I feel better.
Caleb Hammer
Lindsay enjoyed the show, I assume. Very good. Well, I was listening to his vocal fry for about five minutes and it was thrilling. And I don't know, sounds like there's a lot of pressure from the family. I don't give a about your mother in law. I don't give a about her. She shouldn't manipulate you. She shouldn't make you feel like the only way to stay welcome is to be impressed. Kurt, I don't give a. This is your life.
Violet
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
Doesn't mean you can up. Especially with a daughter.
Violet
That's what I'm scared of. I'm scared of.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah, but pursuing a business as long as you guys pay off the debt first. Well, like you're going to have to slow rule because you need to actively pay off the debt. Get a fully funded emergency fund, then go to the business. But let's look into the finances and what things actually look like today. So Sapphire reserve. What the is going on?
Darone
It's our main card for pretty much everything.
Caleb Hammer
Have an aggressively horrendous disgusting balance of $4,661.
Violet
That's because of the computer part that he needs to return. And then.
Caleb Hammer
What are you doing? I think also 16 years to pay off the payments.
Violet
Only I think it was also the litter box. The litter boxes.
Darone
It's been like a million.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, it was a. It was a lot more.
Violet
Yeah, I was gonna say it was a lot.
Caleb Hammer
A lot more than that. Okay, $4,661 owed and 31 now. Who's the swiper on here? Is it both?
Darone
Yeah, both.
Caleb Hammer
And what do you guys have no self control? Why? Why if we are struggling, even though you guys make well above with the household, the median household, the New Braunfels, the. Are we swiping like this non controlled. It's disgusting. It's disgusting. Throw away the computer. Take away all that outside of even just that alone. It is insane. Spending beyond insane.
Violet
I think it probably doesn't help that we have like. I think this time around it was because we were buying stuff for my birthday and my daughter.
Caleb Hammer
Who gives a about your birthday? Who cares?
Violet
I didn't think you care about your
Caleb Hammer
birthday more than your daughter. Well then you're a disgusting creature.
Violet
No, I care about my daughter's birthday more than mine. That's why we celebrated hers.
Caleb Hammer
Thank you. I don't give a shit about your birthday. Pay for her birthday. Do a little thing.
Violet
That's what we did.
Caleb Hammer
You did yours as well, you creature. Your daughter's what, three, no, 14 months. So she doesn't even know what the is going on. She's getting imprinting right now, but she won't have any memory. She won't have any memory of the.
Violet
This.
Caleb Hammer
She'll have some pictures to do a cute little thing. Cheap on the cheap. Wonderful. You're paying off debt. You're trying to become. Create a better household for this. You grew up wealthy. You don't know what it's like on the other side, but you're about to find the out if you keep going down this path. Okay? If you keep going down this path, you're going to find the out. Get that foreclosure notice, get the collections in the. In the mail. You're going to find the out. And then your daughter's going to be growing from that household. All for your birthday. Your birthday. I don't give a shit about your birthday. You shouldn't either. Who gives a shit? You're 24.
Violet
It doesn't matter because I didn't think I'd make it this long.
Caleb Hammer
Ooh, welcome to life. I don't give a. What? You cut yourself once. I don't care. You're here now. You have a daughter. Okay, okay. We're not sympathizing. Sob story from 10 years ago. You have a daughter today.
Violet
I know.
Caleb Hammer
Today. I don't give a. About your birthday today. Also your phone. You're on our show.
Violet
No, today my alarm went off.
Darone
Off to feed her.
Violet
My alarm to feed my daughter went off.
Caleb Hammer
So I give a. Who cares about your birthday? I don't think I would make it. Well, that's like what half the people say in life anyways. I don't even give a. That means nothing anymore. That's just the Tik Tok generation of endlessly victimizing themselves in every way whatsoever. Your daughter's alive. Your daughter needs to have a good future. Your birthday doesn't matter.
Violet
No, she does. She.
Caleb Hammer
You don't know. You don't know.
Violet
529 every month.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah, thanks to the mother in law. Right? Right.
Darone
No, no.
Caleb Hammer
From who?
Violet
That's from us.
Caleb Hammer
Why? Why would you do that right now if, like, you're heading down a path where you might not even be able to keep a roof over the head? 5:29 is great. I know mother in law put 10,000 hours in, but other than that, 529 does not take priority over actually making sure that there is a Potential success in the future here. I love that you guys are doing it, but it might be misplaced at this exact moment.
Violet
I just didn't want to. I wanted to make sure she was still getting her money no matter what we did.
Darone
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
Yes. But the thing is she is gonna live with you guys for a very long time. And if the household is absolutely struggling throughout her entire life and it puts stress and strain on the relationship, which it always does and it already is, that is not better.
Violet
Yeah. Okay, that was my fault and I was trying to make sure.
Caleb Hammer
Again, no, it's not a bad concept. It's just misplaced right now. Now.
Violet
Okay.
Caleb Hammer
She already has good money in her 529.
Violet
Yeah, I just wanted. I don't know. I think I wanted to also build out her trust as much as possible. Cuz I think you were opening that, right?
Darone
Yeah, I was going to open an upma.
Violet
An upma for her name.
Caleb Hammer
But the thing is I want to just keep the roof over the head guys and you guys are headed down a dark path.
Violet
Yeah, well, right now we have a roof over my head cuz we're staying with my mom. So we live with her and my little sibling right now in a four bedroom house. So we take over a bedroom for us and then a bedroom for the baby. And so that's been really helping us because we can't get out of the condo that we had to leave in D.C. in D.C. because we bought a condo in D.C. initially.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. Okay.
Darone
That's what the mortgage is.
Caleb Hammer
Cause this is. This absolutely comes down to nothing of why you are spending absolutely horrendously on this credit card. What the are we doing? Your mother, your parents. Do something, fix your shit. Where is the behavior change? You have indications, little sprinkles of behavior that are good. The fi. You know, saving up for the kid, everything there's. But then you guys completely up everything around it. I really don't understand.
Violet
I really was trying to keep track of each transaction. Like I list them all out and in an Excel sheet.
Caleb Hammer
Then why are you doing this? That makes it worse than ignorance. You're actively choosing to do this. You can't figure it out. You put it in an Excel sheet, you know exactly what's going on. Also, by the way, that just doesn't work as good. Just use the dollar Wise app. You guys get it for free forever. Just do that. It puts everything automatically in categories and it makes it much easier for the brain to just see things which actually makes you make changes instead of seeing Things in Excel sheet, which you have the manual update anyway. Yeah, clearly it's not working. Hasn't for years. Even with the David Ramsey method. Dave Hayden Work Providence. What's this? Provident Age.
Violet
Provantage.
Caleb Hammer
Provantage. Sorry.
Darone
That would be the PC.
Caleb Hammer
Great. Critical necessities for life in n out. More PC. $3,206 there. Kill me now. Potential groceries. Potential bullshit. I don't know. Another 1800 to the PC groceries or. I don't know, Jerry's Artarama.
Violet
That's for my class.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, for sake. Something that you're never gonna. So moronic. It's so stupid. UTSA refreshes. Oh, yes. Food on campus.
Violet
It's mainly food.
Caleb Hammer
Great. That's great food. Uber Eats. Uber Eats? You guys are dying in poverty?
Violet
Almost.
Caleb Hammer
And you guys are Uber eats? I cook when I. Oh, that's wonderful meal prep. That's.
Violet
I try to.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, I better shut the up. How many?
Violet
We have five people. Give me a feed.
Caleb Hammer
Give me your phone. Give me your phone.
Violet
Okay.
Caleb Hammer
Open your phone. I can't use a locked phone.
Darone
Are you going to Uber Eats?
Caleb Hammer
No. Oh, can you make it English?
Violet
Sorry.
Darone
No. Honestly, I have a hard time too. Whenever I have to use this.
Caleb Hammer
From America. Okay. You use your phone and averages 6 hours and 24 minutes a day.
Violet
I've been trying to work on it.
Caleb Hammer
You don't have time to cook? You.
Violet
No, that's because I put things on while I do things. I don't have time to.
Caleb Hammer
Shut the up. Shut the up. Put this on English, so I can actually understand what's happening here. I'm a. I'm an American. Okay.
Violet
There's. You know, Spanish is also a language of America, but.
Caleb Hammer
But the American continent, I guess.
Darone
Funny enough, America has no official language until. I think.
Caleb Hammer
That is funny. That's hilarious, I would say, actually, yeah. Try that at a bar downtown.
Darone
I will.
Violet
I mean, it depends on the bar you go to. Some of them only speak Spanish.
Caleb Hammer
It is true. I do love tacos. Doesn't mean I can read it.
Darone
Biria hits differentia.
Violet
Does hit different ques.
Caleb Hammer
You guys are a little too close to San Antonio for me.
Violet
What the.
Caleb Hammer
You're showing me a picture of your cat.
Violet
You phone is just. It's doing. I don't know what's happening. I put it to English and it's not.
Darone
Oh, it has to reset to the language.
Violet
Yeah, it's just sitting there.
Caleb Hammer
So then just be patriotic all the time.
Violet
Patriotic. That. That makes sense.
Caleb Hammer
Are you not patriotic with blue hair?
Violet
You think I'm patriotic.
Caleb Hammer
You can still be patriotic and be wrong about economics.
Violet
I can't be patriotic when we're spending more money on bombs than we are for, like, social justice or, like, social programs.
Caleb Hammer
We spend 50% of the federal spending on social programs. Like what social programs? Medicare, Medicaid, mandatory spending, SNAP benefits, veteran benefits.
Violet
You mean the SNAP benefits that people just got taken away from them?
Caleb Hammer
You think everyone just got taken off snap?
Violet
Most people.
Caleb Hammer
Everyone. You think the majority just got taken off SNAP? Our military spending is 10 to 20%, and that's the bombs you're freaking out about. 10 to 20%. It's egregious. We spend 50% on social programs.
Violet
I'm a military kid and I can tell you that shit is not needed.
Caleb Hammer
Girl, you literally just got the information that you were just wrong, and yet you're still doubling down. We don't spend the majority on bombs.
Violet
Okay, maybe it's not the majority, but
Caleb Hammer
as well, it's not even close to the majority. It's not even a quarter.
Violet
It's far too much.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, you could advocate for that, but that all of a sudden, it doesn't mean. You just said we don't spend anything on social. That's where like, more than half of our money goes. What are you talking about?
Violet
I think it needs to be more.
Caleb Hammer
As usual, you're uninformed about everything.
Violet
I think it needs to be more.
Caleb Hammer
And then you're just not patriotic. What do you mean? We spend more than, like, anyone? Well, number wise, absolutely. Yeah. Well, technically, by technicality, by money, by per capita, by. Yes, we do. A lot. We're a very progressive nation. We have the most progressive income tax in the entire Western world.
Violet
Okay.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, boy. I love when people have no idea what they do and then they're just not patriotic. It's like, dude, you're literally not a contributor. You should be the most patriotic person. You contribute nothing. I mean, you contribute literally nothing. You've only been a taker, and yet you're the one that doesn't like the country. Then the one that gives everything is the one that likes it. Leave for where?
Violet
Anywhere. I used to live in Germany. I don't have any.
Caleb Hammer
Grass is always greener. What would you be doing in Germany?
Violet
I could still be an artist there.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah. You think Germans just immediately, they're like, oh, you want to be an artist? Let's give you $80,000 a year.
Violet
Well, I know that they're not going to give me $80,000 a year for the artist.
Caleb Hammer
What do you think would all of a sudden happen.
Violet
I think if I was able to do my art full time, I'd be able to make the money I need to make.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah. Germans trying to pursue art. That always goes over well.
Violet
All right.
Darone
Well, yeah, that was a pretty good one.
Caleb Hammer
What do you. Nothing would be different. Grass is always greener, dude.
Violet
I know.
Caleb Hammer
Grass is always greener.
Violet
That's why I'm still here. I'm in Texas. I definitely didn't want to be here.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, well, you didn't want to be where the jobs are and where cost of living is lower.
Darone
I mean, that is why we're here.
Caleb Hammer
I mean, I agree that. I mean, it's hot, which it wasn't so hot.
Darone
I also was worried about, like, you know, all the, like, fire, like, wildfire notices that, like, terrifies me.
Caleb Hammer
You don't have to be, like, patriotic where you're like, yeah, we've never done anything bad. That's just. That's just nationalism. That's. But it's okay to like the country you're in and want it to do well.
Violet
No, I want it to do well.
Caleb Hammer
That's patriotism.
Violet
Wanting it to do well is not patriotism. Believing your country is good is a. Is patriotism.
Caleb Hammer
Huh? Believing your country is good and everything is not patriotism.
Violet
That is basically what most people consider
Caleb Hammer
patriotism to be more nationalistic, in my mind, where you think you're absolutely incredible on everything. Patriotism is wanting the best for your country and changing what's not that.
Violet
I mean, then in that case, I guess I am patriotic.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah. Except you didn't even know anything about our federal spending when you tried to make a complaint about social programs, even though that's what we spend all our money on. You should not be allowed to have a position if you can't even speak on it. Like, what the. You don't even know what you're talking about. How do you even have that opinion? What do you mean?
Violet
I have opinions on a lot of
Caleb Hammer
things that you don't know anything about.
Violet
I definitely know more than I thought I did. What I know about a lot of
Caleb Hammer
things that even mean. What else do you disagree with that you want to flee to Germany for?
Violet
I don't want to flee to Germany. I would, like, kind of said that.
Caleb Hammer
What about you said you'd rather live anywhere?
Violet
I'd rather go to Iceland.
Caleb Hammer
I mean, okay, what do you disagree with our country about?
Violet
I disagree with how we handle a lot of our issues. I think the fact that I mean
Darone
healthcare, like, I would say, like, Medicare, for all. Stuff like that.
Violet
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
What about it?
Darone
Like it should be a universal program.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. How's the NHS going? How's Canada doing right now?
Violet
Oh, I have a friend in the uk.
Caleb Hammer
Their wait times have gone even further and further. I have a friend in the uk, she had a migraine. Took her three days to be seen when she had a severe medical issue being happening.
Darone
Yeah, yeah.
Violet
I mean, but at least she could get seen. There are people here that can't get seen.
Caleb Hammer
You can go into. That's not true. That is objectively not true. Anyone can go to an emergency.
Violet
How many people are stuck in medical debt because they went to an emergency room?
Caleb Hammer
Buddy, you know how insignificant it is to go through bankruptcy in this country at this point? I'm not even saying it's great. I'm not defending our system, but I would rather at least get seen in a life and death situation.
Violet
But most people don't get treated.
Caleb Hammer
Life is more important than debt. What do you mean most people don't know? People go to emergency rooms from their primary care care. People know the options.
Violet
People know that they can go to emergency rooms. There are many.
Caleb Hammer
You're not going to have me aggressively defend our care system. But if you want to bring a system that is not working in Canada and the UK here, I don't think a lot of people are going to be in favor of that.
Darone
I'm not saying that like UK or Canada have the like.
Caleb Hammer
Why you want to do Germany where it's mixed between public and private? Because most people have a private plan on top of their public.
Darone
Pretty good. China's healthcare system is pretty good.
Caleb Hammer
Concentration camps in western China. That's a system I want to replicate.
Violet
Concentration camps here. I was literally talking about a concentration camp, you know, where you go for
Caleb Hammer
a week to learn and focus, you know. Oh, man. RE education camps where we force people at gunpoint to learn our culture.
Violet
Do you know what's going on?
Caleb Hammer
You're actually going to consider camps that
Violet
we have here, bro.
Caleb Hammer
At gunpoint. Learning our culture and just. And forgetting everything about their religions. You think we do that?
Violet
Yes.
Caleb Hammer
What the. Your worldview is broken.
Violet
States and native people. You think they didn't do that shit to natives multiple times?
Caleb Hammer
So you're comparing what China's doing right now with what happened before any of us were born.
Violet
History does mean something.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah, but it's not happening now. I'm talking about using the system now, asshole. I'm not going over to Germany and crying about the Holocaust for every political decisions they make. Today. What are you talking about? That's such an immature baby argument.
Darone
I would argue that Chinese like development of infrastructure is much better than ours.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah, you know how? Because people can't stand up and speak for their rights, their property rights. You want that? You want us to be able to plow New Braunfels to the ground to build high speed rail between Austin and San Antonio?
Darone
Okay, that might be a hot take, but actually I am so pro that
Caleb Hammer
that is, I'm pro high speed rail. But if you're okay with literally the government, you not having any say on what the government does, then yeah, we can build a hospital overnight. You're absolutely right. And we'll make sure people die to get it.
Darone
What if it saves more lives?
Caleb Hammer
Your worldviews are weird. I would say actually western culture is pretty good. We've done a lot of good things. It's been good for you as a woman.
Violet
It has.
Caleb Hammer
I don't think I actually want to go to a regime that has either. Forced abortions and re education camps and
Violet
25% youth unemployment, forced sterilization in places like Puerto Rico.
Caleb Hammer
When did we do that?
Violet
Do you know anything about the history of Puerto Rico?
Caleb Hammer
I'm asking you a question. When did we do that?
Violet
Would you like me to pull up a specific year, ish, decade?
Caleb Hammer
My goodness. You're the one that bring it up. Brought it up. Have some kind of knowledge to be able to talk about.
Darone
It's 20th century.
Violet
That is 20th century.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, very good. So not in our lives.
Violet
So you want me to only care about the things that have happened right now.
Caleb Hammer
Things that we can change. You can change the youth unemployment in China and the re education camps. We can change that. Now if we were Chinese. We cannot change what happened in, in Puerto Rico already.
Violet
We can change what's happening.
Caleb Hammer
Yes. And we are not cutting out people's balls in Puerto Rico today.
Darone
But we still have like horrible infrastructure built in Puerto Rico from those decades of like continued.
Caleb Hammer
Now that is an actual argument. Not bitching and moaning about something that wasn't in our life.
Violet
Well, if you'd let me finish a sentence, I'd be able to actually get to that point.
Caleb Hammer
Yes, please. We cut off people's balls and that's why they don't have a rope roads.
Darone
I was worried about that.
Violet
Yeah, because that's what I said.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah, I was worried about that too. And guess what? And you probably are against data centers too. I am, aren't you?
Darone
Wait, what?
Caleb Hammer
Why? What's the argument?
Darone
Oh, wait, sorry.
Caleb Hammer
Other than you Just have blue hair. What's the argument? What's the argument? Because Texas is leading in data center construction. What's the argument?
Violet
Well, the fact that they're bad for the environment.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. Why are they bad for the environment?
Violet
Well, for one, they use a lot of the fresh water and the word starting.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. They use less than 0.5% of all fresh water in the United States. Long lawn maintenance in this country uses 2.5% of all fresh water.
Violet
Lawn maintenance is a good thing.
Caleb Hammer
Very good. Almonds in California alone use over 1% of all the United States water. We have now closed system loops and data centers that barely use any water. And now data centers that are being built by Amazon, Amazon, Google are actually net contributors to water in this country. So you're again, again something you have no information about. Now if you wanted to say energy, there's a valid argument there.
Darone
I was going to say I actually,
Caleb Hammer
but of course you're just blue haired, uninformed on everything and you want to flee this country and you have no idea what you're talking about. And by the way, all the other Nordic countries with all the social programs you like, they build data centers like no other.
Violet
That doesn't mean I support them either.
Caleb Hammer
But you should. What's wrong with that? What is actually wrong with that?
Violet
I just don't think that they're contributing to like anything.
Caleb Hammer
Well, objectively, they were the only thing that grew the economy last year. Yes. And two, do you want to have China completely dominate that? You know what happens in countries that didn't invest in the infrastructure of the 20th century? They're left behind. Doesn't mean we cannot be those people in the 21st century, the electricity. That's a valid argument, but guess what? 70% of the US entire electrical grid is near retirement because we haven't invested in it in 20 years at all. The only reason we're even having that conversation is because of data centers. And data centers, many states are requiring them to have on site electricity generation and any connectivity to the overall network and generation being powered by the network, they have to pay for 100% of the cost. That actually happened from the Trump administration with Democratic governors and Republican governors doing that in the states of Michigan and places like Texas.
Darone
Microsoft, that led that effort.
Caleb Hammer
Microsoft is leading that effort. They were pioneers on that. Absolutely, absolutely. So again your argument is invalid there. Now many places have seen local increases in electricity prices, but now we are fighting that. We are fighting that by making them build on site and pay for 100% of the cost. Okay, so you're against them still?
Darone
Well, I'm against the on site generation when they're using like turbines to do it. Like, I think that's ridiculous.
Caleb Hammer
Well, it makes sense when it takes three years to connect to the power grid because our regulations are absolutely insane. That means by the time they want to build the data, if they do not do on site, say actual electricity, it means they have to wait three years just to open it. Which means the 1200 jobs or so that are created with each building of an actual complex like in Abilene, Texas would take three years just for those people to start working. That doesn't make any sense. In fact, they were able to cut property taxes in half in Northern Virginia where the highest concentration of data centers are. And guess what? Now they're banning all new construction of data centers because of people like you that have no idea what the they're talking about and they're just on the next thing of outrage and they want to flee to Germany where they're. They build data centers. You're just. And have no idea what you're talking about. Open your phone again. We'll see how much that was cut. Starbucks is bull and a waste of money. And you already know that by making your coffee at home and investing the rest. So now you need to do that with your energy drink as well. Make gamer subs at home for just 40 cents a serving. And honestly, it literally tastes better. And we proved this accidentally via a blind taste test in our Hammer Elite show Fat and Fatter. The number one ranked energy Dr. Drink is Game Sauce. Yeah, that's why I leave it playing
Caleb Hammer
while I'm Leave it playing while you cook?
Violet
Yeah, that's what I do.
Caleb Hammer
But you just said you don't cook.
Violet
Because I have afternoon classes. So I get up in the morning and then I cook for the dinner and then I go to class.
Caleb Hammer
One of you needs to wear more deodorant.
Darone
Oh, that might be me.
Caleb Hammer
Who's going to Cheesecake Factory? You can't afford shit to save your life.
Darone
That would be awesome in Chick fil
Caleb Hammer
a that's real progressive homophobic.
Violet
Chicken just tastes refreshing.
Caleb Hammer
Wild cherry cola meets smooth cream.
Violet
The treat you deserve.
Caleb Hammer
Pepsi Wild cherry and cream treat yourself.
Violet
Tastes good.
Caleb Hammer
It does. Really does.
Violet
Unfortunately, it really does.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, this is so funny. Now we have to leave and report to that conversation 21amonth for chat GPT.
Darone
I was using it for a little bit. I canceled it but.
Caleb Hammer
But it's very good for workflow. There's nothing wrong with utilizing a tool.
Darone
I was using it for their codex integration. So.
Caleb Hammer
And here's the thing. Listen, I'm not. I'm like I would actually rather AI not be a thing because I'm terrified of what it's to going going to do for jobs. I just, I'm not going to be ignorant to the just the reality of the world. And we can't get left behind. The fact is, if you're going to be so anti AI that you're not going to learn it, you're actually going to get left behind in new industries.
Violet
I'm anti using it for stuff like art, but I'm not anti AI as a total.
Caleb Hammer
But even still, people are going to use it for art. I don't like it either, but if you don't figure out how to use it for what you do, you're going to get left behind.
Violet
No, but that's what I'm saying. It's another tool to Use. But I don't like when people use it.
Darone
For some of your business planning.
Violet
Yeah, I was going to say I use it for my business planning.
Caleb Hammer
Well, you're using data centers. They use 10 times the electricity per query in chat GPT than you do a Google search. You're doing that and then you're. They're so performative. They have no actual values in this world. They don't even know what they're talking about. Oh, I'm glad I got to meet one in person. I'm so dead. I'm so glad you guys are horrendous. I'm so glad civilization doesn't listen to you so we can all progress.
Violet
Just remember, I can vote.
Caleb Hammer
We know. We know. And I don't think you have an impact in Texas.
Violet
You be surprised.
Caleb Hammer
No, you don't have an impact in Texas. I'm not even a pro state government here in Texas. I think they go way too extreme to the right. But listen, it's like we could vote.
Darone
Yeah, but you haven't found out.
Caleb Hammer
You haven't done anything to save your life, so. Okay. Cheesecake Factory. Yeah, I'm glad we can have financial people that are completely undisciplined and can't speak on a subject to save their life. A nanny's cakes. Neiman Marcus. What is this? Lebowden. Kristen Lebowden. Oh, that's Louis Vuitton.
Violet
That's Louis Vuitton.
Caleb Hammer
What the are you spending $1,185 on when you can't even keep a roof over your head? Potentially.
Darone
Was that your first or second pair of shoes?
Violet
I only have one. Oh, no. I do have to.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, and you're gonna spend $5,000 going to the place you'd rather live? England. Soon. What the is happening here?
Violet
We're going to England to visit my best friend.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. Make them come here if they can afford it. You can't afford a 5,000 hour trip.
Violet
No. They have come here multiple times.
Caleb Hammer
But you can't afford this right now. FaceTime. You can't afford this. You can't. That's just a reality. I want you to see your best friend. The fact is, and this is how a lot of people are going to see this for the first time Time. They're going to see me as being Ruh Roo pro AI or Ruh Roo pro Republican government in Texas or Ru Roo anti traveler. Ruh Roo. I hate Germany. No. You guys are just so broken in every perspective in an extremist position, including you're. Not willing to cut back on a trip to go to the uk. I want you to go there. I want you to have a best friend. I want to get you to that position. But you've thrown away your life, life so much that you're only going to go further down a hole that is going to hurt you and your child. And they matter more than seeing your best friend. They do. That's a fact.
Violet
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
So cancel this now.
Violet
Well, that's why we're here is to fix it so that we'll cancel it.
Caleb Hammer
I totally knew you will not go to the uk. See, that's why you're here. You. That's not why you're here. You want to do what you want to do regardless. You're set in your ways. That's why you have opinions on things you're not informed of about. Because you are set in your ways. You're not open to alternative perspective, perspectives and information. Then cancel the UK trip. You cannot afford 5000 hours. You couldn't afford the 7000 hour PC. You certainly can't afford a 5000 hour UK trip on top of it.
Violet
Cancel it.
Caleb Hammer
You will?
Violet
Yes.
Caleb Hammer
Officially, yes. It's done?
Violet
Yes.
Darone
There's no way to pay off the debt before then and then take the trip.
Caleb Hammer
When's the trip? Can you get a 12 month emergency fund before doing that? Doubt it. Because that's what you need before she can do business full time. Time.
Darone
You want to ramp up the business with what time?
Caleb Hammer
Wait. Do this.
Violet
No.
Caleb Hammer
Do this.
Violet
No.
Caleb Hammer
Please.
Violet
No.
Caleb Hammer
Please.
Violet
No.
Caleb Hammer
Please.
Violet
I know why.
Caleb Hammer
I have a bit I'm trying to do.
Violet
I.
Caleb Hammer
That's what stinks.
Violet
It's not, but okay.
Caleb Hammer
You like to get up there in them hairy pits.
Darone
Absolutely.
Caleb Hammer
Listen, you. You look. You look like friend of the show Papa Gut if he had hair. And he loves getting his wife's hairy pits. And I love that. I love that for him. I love that for him. Oh, I did get a big whiff as you put them down. So actually.
Violet
Okay, I kept him down.
Caleb Hammer
But starts bakery, Dairy Queen, University of Texas, San Antonio. I think he just bought something there. Two Tarts Bakery in. And I Lily, go Starbucks, Neiman Marquez. You can't afford Neiman Marcus, asshole.
Violet
I don't know what that was for.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, you don't even know what it's for. That's when you know you're in an absolutely horrendous position. You're a fake moralist. You really just want to live a bougie lifestyle. Yeah, that's it.
Violet
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
That's it. Let's just be honest. You don't actually give a. About anything you talked about here that you're uninformed on.
Violet
I would like to be more informed on it. I just.
Caleb Hammer
Why have an opinion before being informed? I don't. I try to not allow myself to. We all fail on that as humans.
Violet
Mainly just I try to stay as informed. But I forget a lot of the things that I read if I like, and I don't. Where do you read a lot of, like, sources from? Like, I'm. I'm big. I was a psychologist for.
Caleb Hammer
Where do you read your information?
Violet
Mostly journals.
Caleb Hammer
What journals?
Violet
Depends on the. On what we're talking about.
Caleb Hammer
From where?
Violet
Mainly from government sites.
Caleb Hammer
Government sites? It's not usually the most reputable reporting sources on government programs.
Violet
I know, but I try to find a source that's as close or as reputable.
Caleb Hammer
What do you mean? I would rather have an independent journalist that's going into a government organization, especially the current administration. Almost any information they put out, I'm like, not gonna listen.
Violet
Oh, no, I'm not listening. But I need to be able.
Caleb Hammer
Because they're all like, hype, hype on their. Yeah, so I'm not gonna listen to this, but I wouldn't listen to the Biden administration either. I'd rather. Look, I'd rather the Wall Street Journal look into what the administration is doing. Get some sources on record or off record and make a report.
Darone
Yeah, that is like, if you can still trust them after all the firings.
Caleb Hammer
Again, Wall Street Journal. Are you talking about the Washington Post?
Darone
Oh, yeah, I mixed up with the Washington Post.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, my gosh. They know nothing. They have opinions and they know nothing. Amazon, Uber Eats, Nordstrom, Sephora, Lily's Cookies. Going in and getting some bullshit. Amazon. Going and getting some bullshit. Nordstrom again. How often do you go to Nordstrom?
Violet
Decently often.
Caleb Hammer
Why? Why do you feel entitled to that? I mean, what do they call them? Caviar, Socialist, Something like that.
Violet
I knew he was gonna say.
Caleb Hammer
I mean, am I wrong, though?
Violet
No. No, you're not.
Darone
We actually had a talk about this, like recently.
Caleb Hammer
I mean, objectively, you are.
Violet
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
Louis Vuitton, Nordstrom, all this insane pop. Amc. Amc. Target, Target, UT Commons Cafe.
Violet
When I go to Target, it's groceries.
Caleb Hammer
I hope so. But there's also a couple purchases of the same day. One was like a grocery amount and one was like a five dollar purchase. Highly doubt that's groceries.
Violet
That was probably Starbucks.
Caleb Hammer
Why are you living up to every stereotype? It's so unfair to you. I'm not even doing it. PayPal, dpad, Michael store, turnstile coffee, brie. Signature nails. Signature nails. McDonald's, Amazon, Barnes and Noble. Barnes and Noble. Jerry's, Artarrava. They have one there?
Violet
Yeah, in San Antonio.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, they're all around.
Violet
Yeah, I think that's the only one.
Caleb Hammer
They have a spinning Jerry?
Violet
I don't think so. No, it's not. It's like a smaller one over there.
Caleb Hammer
There's a cool Jerry's Artarama here.
Violet
Is there?
Darone
Oh really?
Caleb Hammer
With a big spinning Jerry. Don't go there after here.
Violet
Here we go.
Darone
I'll think about it.
Caleb Hammer
Dbrand D, Brain case or skin? Yeah. Oh, for sake. For 200 bucks. My goodness. I love them. They should support the channel. But you can't afford them. Nordstrom again. Oh, HB booking fee. Yeah, but HB was it $2 and then you went to get groceries.
Violet
We also get the pharma privacy.
Caleb Hammer
No. Okay, that's fair.
Violet
So it's. It's like the smaller.
Caleb Hammer
I'm sure you're on a lot of self diagnosed meds.
Violet
Not self diagnosed, but a lot of meds. I see far doctors to be self diagnosed.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, I'm sure you do. I bet you're getting endlessly enabled. Come on, we've seen it so much in this culture. Have you seen the mental health diagnosis among young women in this country?
Violet
No, I'm talking about physical. Physical.
Caleb Hammer
What's wrong with you?
Violet
A lot. My entire autonomic nervous system doesn't work properly.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, you're gonna have to tell me what that is.
Violet
Is so you're at least.
Caleb Hammer
I don't pretend to know something when I don't.
Violet
No, that's fair. Autonomic nervous system is what controls like your heart rate, your sweat, your like a lot of.
Caleb Hammer
Why are you so stinky if you don't sweat?
Violet
That actually happened after pregnancy?
Darone
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
That's good.
Darone
After pregnancy, my whole body.
Violet
I used to not smell at all. And then like now I can't really.
Caleb Hammer
You went from Asian to Mexican?
Violet
If that's how you want to put it, sure. Yeah. I didn't really sweat before and now it's completely different. I'm like relearning my body right now.
Caleb Hammer
So. Cosair Gaming of 2500Kill me now. You both are horrendous. Michael Storr's PNA to photo $806.
Violet
Wait. PNH photo. I think for my. Wait, what was that for?
Caleb Hammer
Oh great.
Violet
How much was it? How much was it?
Caleb Hammer
Bullshit. Bullshit. Bullshit. This is so stupid. Okay, okay, let's move on to the second card.
Darone
Okay.
Caleb Hammer
I thought you guys were protesting Starbucks. Aren't they on the BBC list or whatever?
Darone
Oh, no, I think. I think they are, but, like, that's why we were, like, rationalizing it, because it's the formative. The target. Champagne, Starbucks versus, like, the other have no values.
Caleb Hammer
I will say I'll let you use the Mine card. It used to be the fizz card. It's the Mine card card. Thank you for the footsie under the table. I appreciate it. That's okay. Now let's play footsie. Let's. Let's touch toast.
Violet
I mean, I'll play footsie with you.
Caleb Hammer
We'll play footsie. You're getting cucked over there. We're playing footsie.
Darone
Oh, boy.
Caleb Hammer
I'll let you guys use the Minecart. It used to be a fizz card, but it's the Minecart now. It is the debit card that builds credit. I highly recommend it. You can't spend more than it's in your checking account because that's what you do. Amazon Business Prime Card.
Violet
Yes.
Caleb Hammer
What's going on here?
Violet
Any business purchases? I wanted to switch to a different one, but it.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, those.
Violet
The reason it had a balance at
Caleb Hammer
the time was for Business prime for me.
Violet
Oh, a Business prime. I know.
Caleb Hammer
$273.87. $35.
Violet
That's under you. You have a business.
Darone
Oh, you want me to pull it up?
Caleb Hammer
No, Whoever has it and. Yeah, I mean, well, audible. That's not business.
Darone
No, that was an accident.
Violet
That was an accident.
Darone
It was. Because it's connected to the same Amazon account.
Caleb Hammer
Arts and Crafters. I mean, it makes sense for the business, I guess. SquarePad Services, Marketplace Market. Actually, none of this is Amazon, so I don't even need to see this.
Violet
Yeah, I was going to say Amazon
Caleb Hammer
Markets for makers and Canva.
Violet
Yeah, it's all. It's all just purchases for the business.
Caleb Hammer
This is. Oh, Mario. Cheers. The condo. This is good. We love a condo. Expensive payment.
Violet
Hold up.
Caleb Hammer
What the. This is an expensive condo. Yeah, this is as much as my condo. That was, like, downtown Austin. Austin. And you're a New Braunfels?
Violet
No, that's. That's in Alexandria.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. What's the. What's the. Where are you gonna sell it?
Darone
We've been trying to sell it.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, what's it listed for? Since May.
Darone
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
What's it listed for?
Darone
Currently it's listed for 420.
Caleb Hammer
And what was it listed for?
Darone
A Start it was originally listed for. It was originally valued at 450.
Caleb Hammer
You've only cut it by 30k.
Darone
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
Since May.
Violet
Yeah, well, now we're. We're trying to rent it and we're getting.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah, I was gonna say, because if you. You're not gonna sell it at 420 with that, I mean, obviously, clearly the market has shown. But not only that, but you'd break even at best. Because after all costs and whatnot, with the 385.840.63 you owe on it, you.
Darone
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
Would break even.
Violet
Yeah. We thought we were going to be staying there a lot longer, but I needed help with the baby, so we came here.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. $2,921.61 a month. Yeah, it's chunky. And how long have we been trying to rent?
Darone
Only like two months. And we have one possible renter lined up, man.
Caleb Hammer
What are you trying to rent it for?
Darone
28. That seems to be what the market is doing right now.
Caleb Hammer
And so we're going to definitely be losing money on this because you're going to have repairs, you're going to have maintenance, you're going to have all this and then not even that. It doesn't even cover the mortgage.
Darone
Yeah, I really want to get out
Caleb Hammer
of it, but whose student loans?
Violet
If it's Aid Vantage is mine.
Caleb Hammer
Aid Vantage Federal student loans. So these are on pause.
Violet
Yes.
Caleb Hammer
That's good.
Violet
So long as I'm in school. And we did pay off a little bit. Forever. Yeah. At this point.
Caleb Hammer
Well, okay. $27,512.33 for art degree week. Can't finish. Well, some of these do not have great interest rates when they do resume.
Violet
No, that's why we started paying them off a little early.
Caleb Hammer
Well, I wouldn't now because, I mean, we. That. But. Okay, well, I thought you had student loans. I don't see them.
Darone
Oh, they should be there. We submitted them.
Caleb Hammer
I just got a it Be Ed Financial. I just got it. Okay, well, either way, you're in school, so they're paused as well. Yeah, but how much are they?
Darone
I believe I have 20,000.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. All right. Checking account. Is this combined. This Navy Federal. What?
Violet
That's combined.
Darone
Okay. Yeah, combined everything.
Caleb Hammer
And it was seven down from 10. Seven's definitely a good balance to have. I mean, I. I don't know if I'd even keep that much in there personally. Maybe like five? Nah, it depends. I mean, I know you guys are budgeting not. So that's why you should have a lot because it Means you don't it up. But if you're actually budgeting properly, you wouldn't need that much in there. You could actually make some money and grow in a high yield, like chime.
Violet
I just, I'm really bad with like switching everything to digital and.
Caleb Hammer
What, you mean cheaper cash?
Violet
No, because when I was cash stuffing, it was easier to keep track of everything.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. San Antonio. San Antonio. UT San Antonio. Who's going to UT San Antonio? AM I AM. So what was that almost 2,000 bucks right there? Two purchases.
Violet
That would be paying for my classes.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. And then you get reimbursed.
Violet
Yes.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. Okay. How much is going on? Okay, where was savings? Is there savings? I know we have investment accounts here, but was there savings? Was it just what was in the checking account? Well, that's dangerous.
Violet
No. Wait, did you not submit the rest of the savings accounts that we also have?
Darone
I don't think we have.
Violet
We have.
Caleb Hammer
I mean the investment account.
Violet
No, we have the savings account.
Darone
Which one?
Violet
The VA savings account.
Darone
That's it. That's in the combined one?
Violet
Is it in the combined one? Okay then. Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, okay. Well. 69K in this Vanguard. Who's this? Roth Ira Mine. Okay, good for age. For income, actually, yeah. Okay, I'm happy with that for one account. Let's see what the rest looks like. Is this Vanguard 7 separate or is this just within inside of it?
Darone
I have a separate brokerage.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, great. Then I am happy you are on track for your age. That's good. But we have a household here, so if she has zero, that's going to bring you from a 10 out of 10 to a 5 out of 10. But fidelity. What's this? 734. So. Oh, that's 529 the kit. Whoa, I thought so.
Darone
That's. That was a 529 that I started before she was born.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. Okay.
Darone
And.
Caleb Hammer
And whose is this? Cuz I have a Roth IRA and
Darone
a UT Sabers, so both are mine.
Caleb Hammer
Okay.
Darone
UT Savers is a four.
Caleb Hammer
So you have an additional seven sitting there. Just about Acorn's 446. You as well?
Violet
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, what do you got? So you're at about like what, 85 with the mentally. Okay. And then so far, who's thrift?
Darone
That's me.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. About 50. So. So we are actually. The world moves fast.
Darone
Your workday even faster.
Caleb Hammer
Pitching products, drafting reports, analyzing data.
Darone
Microsoft 365 Copilot is your AI assistant for work built into Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other Microsoft 365 apps.
Caleb Hammer
You use helping you quickly write, analyze,
Darone
create and summarize so you can cut through clutter and clear a path to your best work.
Caleb Hammer
Work.
Darone
Learn more@Microsoft.com N365 copilot.
Caleb Hammer
You're more than on track. And who's 13 on Ed Edwards? Jones.
Darone
Edward Jones.
Caleb Hammer
Good. And your parents have taught you these skills. Why the don't you have anything? Why aren't you contributing? You've worked, you've made money.
Violet
Because I've put my money into his stuff.
Darone
You haven't.
Caleb Hammer
Are you prenuped?
Darone
No, we're not prenuped.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. Okay. Okay. Well he doesn't think he put money into his butt.
Violet
I think did.
Darone
Are we talking about like we put
Violet
money into your Roth IRA from my
Caleb Hammer
dancer Money into his Roth ira. Should you. That's.
Violet
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
I don't know if that's kosher.
Darone
No. If we're married, I think that that's. Yeah. And I was making money at the time too. So like it's about like earned income.
Caleb Hammer
Okay.
Violet
It was cuz we were trying to combine.
Caleb Hammer
Listen. For the household. Well since the house actually from all technical math household is a 10 out of 10 because you actually bring it nothing. If you brought in money it would actually bring the household financial score. But since you meet over one times income currently.
Darone
Yeah.
Caleb Hammer
You actually. Well that's what's going to carry your score. But let's, let's get this budget figured out because I want to get you guys to one. You being able to be that woman hero icon. You want to be that they. Them icon. I want you to get there. So all debt, including the mortgage, 2,800, 161. And I can't include the renter yet. I can't until we have it in there. Yeah.
Violet
No.
Caleb Hammer
So all debt included is going to be $2,999.61 on a monthly basis. Okay. Now you're still paying for utilities and whatnot. It's going to be cheap.
Darone
Utilities are really cheap.
Violet
It's like 20 bucks.
Caleb Hammer
Okay, good.
Violet
That's about $85 a month.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. For two, that's not bad. Car insurance is.
Violet
That's new. So that's.
Darone
Yeah, that's new. That was 130 for both. No, for me they're still under their.
Violet
I'm still under my mom.
Darone
Yeah, their mom.
Caleb Hammer
Car gas from. From Drive. Drive.
Violet
How much gas is about.
Darone
It's a lot because I have to commute.
Violet
How much? $135 a month.
Caleb Hammer
That's a lot.
Darone
No baby, it's more than that because I.
Caleb Hammer
How much is the gas? Guys, please.
Darone
So I have to get gas every. Like. Like, I would say like every three days.
Caleb Hammer
What's the number a month?
Darone
Let's say like $200 a month.
Caleb Hammer
That's okay.
Violet
That's not okay.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. Is. Is the. Is the baby from the booby? No, she on the formula.
Violet
She was on formula, but she's not on formula anymore. What.
Caleb Hammer
What does she eat? Baby food.
Violet
She eats regular food. She eats regular food?
Darone
Like human.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. I think we should be able to budget $750 for food for the household. So the only catch based on Hebo. What's the catch?
Darone
We have to pay for the whole household.
Caleb Hammer
It's an entirely different kind of flying altogether. It's an entirely different kind of flying.
Darone
We.
Caleb Hammer
We make food for everyone who's in the house.
Violet
My mom and my little sibling.
Caleb Hammer
Are they okay with your meal prepping on the cheap? Well, you're gonna have to communicate with them because you guys are trying to get yourself to a better financial position so you can move out. Yeah, we should be able to budget for about a thousand one hundred.
Violet
Okay.
Caleb Hammer
We have a meal plan. We will give you that. I don't have it right here, but it's right there. We'll give you that. And we'll also give you the cookbook based on HB prices.
Violet
Oh, bet.
Caleb Hammer
Cool. Yeah. Okay. TP fund anything else for you, the kids, all that good stuff. About 200 bucks a month. Medical, Health care. I know you're broken. What is our co pays on a monthly basis. Basis.
Violet
So co pays are about $30 for each doctor basis.
Caleb Hammer
Come on,
Darone
you've had a lot of appointments.
Violet
I have them.
Darone
Let's say once a week. So.
Violet
Yeah, once a week.
Darone
So let's just say like 160 to be safe.
Violet
160.
Caleb Hammer
Good. Is there a gym?
Darone
Not right now.
Caleb Hammer
Subscriptions? Let's try 40. Are there pets?
Violet
Yes, we have three cats.
Caleb Hammer
Oh, what's wrong with you? $150 for pet insurance because you couldn't afford.
Violet
It's actually $65 with pet insurance.
Caleb Hammer
Well, those are probably. Those probably really bad pet insurance.
Violet
It was the ASPCA pet insurance.
Caleb Hammer
I don't know what that covers. I would reassess. Listen, I'll put a 65 for now, but I would reassess because a lot of people with cheap. That's actually quite cheap for three cats. And with that, it might not cover a big expense, which is the whole point.
Violet
It's extra than just take a Look,
Darone
as all I'll do.
Violet
Take a look. Okay.
Caleb Hammer
I'll put up for 65 for now. How much for cat food?
Violet
I believe their cat food is about 120amonth. Month.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. Anything else that needs to be in this budget that I have not put in yet.
Darone
I mean, are we still going to be contributing to the 529 plan?
Caleb Hammer
Let's take a look. Okay. We probably can. 5,999.61 on a monthly basis. Obviously that math changes a little in your favor when you get the renter. But we have to get the renter first. Income right now, now 240 from you. My household is 8110 now. It will go down, but that's in a couple years. So I'm not freaking out about freaking out about it yet.
Violet
VA money from, from my stuff, it's about 1500amonth.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah. Isn't that just paying for school though?
Violet
It gives a little bit extra at least.
Caleb Hammer
How much extra?
Violet
300.
Caleb Hammer
Okay. Plus 300. So you have an extra $3,310.39. I mean, I would manage the credit cards. Obviously you pay those off immediately. That's not hard.
Violet
The plan that you wanted to do for paying off the credit card.
Darone
Oh, I was just planning to throw everything.
Caleb Hammer
Yeah, just throw it. You paid off in a couple months. That's not a big deal. Yeah, my big thing right now. Then after that, pretend like you don't have a renter. Okay, good. Which I mean, you save up in just a little over a year and then you can go full force. That's nine months emergency fund. That's incredible. I think in just over a year you guys have a nine month emergency fund. Your debt's gone. Except for the mortgage and student loans. Student loans are commitment to payment until they're paid off. Once those are even started. Mortgage. Hopefully we can sell that at some point when the real estate market recovers.

Podcast: Financial Audit
Host: Caleb Hammer
Episode Date: March 27, 2026
Guests: Violet (24), Darone (27), New Braunfels, TX
In this candid, at times confrontational episode, host Caleb Hammer sits with Violet and Darone, a young progressive couple from Texas, to dissect their tumultuous financial life, interpersonal power dynamics, and underlying values. Facing nearly $418,000 in debt, a stalled business, and conflicted ambitions, the conversation dives into how family expectations, social values, and personal histories complicate the path to financial autonomy.
While the episode’s explicit purpose is a “financial audit,” it quickly becomes a case study in delayed adulthood, generational values, and the intersection of culture, gender, and money.
[02:22] Violet introduces herself as a student and artist, with a sticker business that brought in ~$50k in revenue last year, yet she pays herself nothing—choosing instead to reinvest or pay her younger sibling, her only employee.
[03:43] Caleb mocks the “pop-up” sticker business trend, pressing why Violet doesn’t focus full-time on something proving demand.
[06:11] Darone works as an R&D software engineer at a university (salary ~$110k), sustains the household financially, and receives VA disability for depression/anxiety from a Navy stint.
[07:13] Heated debate emerges over Violet’s pursuit of an art degree, largely driven by Darone and his family’s emphasis on education over entrepreneurship.
[08:31–09:09] Caleb interrogates why Violet allows Darone’s family to dictate her choices.
“Why pay for your degree, of what?… Why do you control her? What the fuck are you just like, oh, you do what I say?” (Caleb, [07:40])
[13:36] Caleb identifies Darone’s “degree collector” mentality, contrasting it with an entrepreneurial family and culture.
[35:05] When asked how domineering Darone is, Violet concedes:
“When it comes to the business, very. A lot of the times it's me talking about something I want to do to scale the business and him telling me that I need to focus on my degree, get that done as fast as possible.”
(Violet, [35:16])
[45:16] An emotional turning point: Caleb confronts Violet’s assertion that she has a “choice,” forcing a break.
“You own her. That's weird. Let her pursue this… She has had return on investment… Let her pursue this thing. If she fails, it's okay—she has a support system.” (Caleb, [45:16])
[17:44] Violet’s past includes four years of stripping (starting at 16, going nude); afterward, she continued with OnlyFans to support herself.
[20:24] She still passively earns ~$60/week on OnlyFans from old regulars.
[24:12–25:01] Discussion surfaces on both partners’ irresponsible spending, notably designer bags ($4k for a wallet and a bag), and $7k on a new computer for Darone’s grad studies, despite massive pre-existing debt.
[31:34] Retaliatory spending dynamic:
“If you get to spend on what you want, then I get to buy what I want.” (Violet, [32:08])
Caleb points out this ensures they only spiral together.
[18:11–19:14] They tried the “Dave Ramsey”/cash stuffing method for five years but fell off when opening credit cards:
“My favorite Dave Ramsey strategy: open credit cards.” (Caleb, [18:40])
Caleb rebukes their lack of self-control, “What have you guys accomplished that’s tangible and real? ...Nothing.”
[28:06–28:53] Though Violet claims to run the monthly budget, both admit they overspent due to poor tracking—at times spending more than double their monthly income.
[12:16] Caleb repeatedly pushes for Violet to focus on her business, which grossed $50k even without her active involvement, suggesting significant untapped potential.
“If she is barely even touching her business… and it's making $50,000. Imagine what it could be if she was putting her full focus on it.” (Caleb, [11:57])
[33:35] Violet is torn:
“The biggest issue is that I think it would be worth going for it full time... but everyone I’ve ever talked to around me says that my degree is first.”
Caleb calls this out as “cowardly,” lamenting performative feminism that doesn’t empower actual choices.
[64:06] A sprawling digression into political values, patriotism, and “fleeing Trump’s America” leads to barbed sparring over government spending, medical systems, gender roles, and data centers:
“Girl, you literally just got the information that you were just wrong, and yet you’re doubling down. We don’t spend the majority on bombs.” (Caleb, [64:33])
[93:04–94:43] Darone, thanks to a privileged upbringing and consistent work, has decent retirement savings (~$85k), while Violet has virtually none due to funneling stripper income into household expenses—and claims to have contributed to Darone’s Roth IRA.
[90:00–91:13] Major liability: a condo in Alexandria, VA, bought for $420k, is not selling; they're trying to rent it below their mortgage payment, facing likely cash-flow shortfalls.
[102:13] Final Hammer assessment:
Action Plan:
On Power Imbalance
“Why are you allowing them to have that kind of outside influences? ...why do you control her?” (Caleb, [07:40])
“You own her. That’s weird. Let her pursue this.” (Caleb, [45:16])
On Business vs Degree:
“You’re surrounded by cowards and pussies and degree collectors.” (Caleb, [34:51])
“I really want my business to be the full time thing.” (Violet, [35:01])
“Don’t let him influence you on this. ...This is actual female empowerment.” (Caleb, [33:10])
On Spending:
“You both are horrendous. ...You spent more than double what came in.” (Caleb, [32:54])
“You can’t afford a $5,000 trip to England... FaceTime. You can’t afford this.” (Caleb, [80:11])
On Political Values:
“You contribute literally nothing. ...You’ve only been a taker, yet you’re the one that doesn’t like the country.” (Caleb, [64:52])
“Blue haired, uninformed on everything… I’m glad civilization doesn’t listen to you.” (Caleb, [79:01])
On Budgeting & Reality Check:
“It’s a stupid position to be in because it’s not very hard.” (Caleb, [102:13])
The episode oscillates between abrasive, sarcastic, and sincere. Caleb’s tone is blunt, often vulgar, but distinguished by a genuine (if sometimes exasperated) concern for the guests’ well-being. Violet is self-deprecating and conflicted; Darone is rationalizing but occasionally evasive or defensive.
This episode is not just a financial critique—it’s a window into how education, class, gender, politics, and family pressures play out in real households. Despite their progressive self-image, Violet and Darone exemplify many traditional and self-defeating patterns—they are stuck between worlds: entrepreneurial ambition and academic inertia, luxury tastes and crushing debt, empowerment talk and real agency.
Listeners are left both frustrated and empathetic: a vivid, cautionary tale for young couples negotiating money, identity, and meaning in modern America.
