No: Nils sto ved vinduet på Oslo Lufthavn Gardermoen.
En: Nils stood by the window at Oslo Lufthavn Gardermoen.

No: Han så på snøen som falt tett utenfor.
En: He watched the snow falling thickly outside.

No: Inne i terminalen var det travelt, til tross for stillelstanden.
En: Inside the terminal, it was busy despite the standstill.

No: Folk i vinterjakker sto i små grupper, så på listene med kansellerte flyvninger.
En: People in winter jackets stood in small groups, looking at lists of canceled flights.

No: Nils prøvde å roe seg ned.
En: Nils tried to calm himself down.

No: Han måtte hjem til Trondheim.
En: He needed to get home to Trondheim.

No: Kona, Anja, og barna, Mikkel og Lise, ventet på ham.
En: His wife, Anja, and the children, Mikkel and Lise, were waiting for him.

En: "The children must get their Christmas presents."

No: "Nils ringte Anja.
En: Nils called Anja.

No: Han forklarte situasjonen og sa at han ville prøve å ta toget.
En: He explained the situation and said he would try to take the train.

No: Anja, alltid støttende, sa at de ville holde varm grøt klar til han kom hjem.
En: Anja, always supportive, said they would keep warm porridge ready for when he arrived home.

No: Nils følte seg litt roligere etter samtalen.
En: Nils felt a bit calmer after the conversation.

No: Han kjøpte en togbillett.
En: He bought a train ticket.

No: Togstasjonen var like kaotisk.
En: The train station was just as chaotic.

No: Mennesker lounged på kaféene, noen med varme kopper gløgg og pepperkaker, ventet på at tiden skulle gå.

No: Nils nikket.

No: Hun delte noen pepperkaker med ham.
En: She shared some gingerbread cookies with him.

No: "Det er disse små tingene," tenkte Nils, "som gjør reisen bedre.
En: "It’s these little things," Nils thought, "that make the journey better."

No: "Toget sakket inn og stoppet flere ganger, men det fortsatte sin reise sakte men sikkert.
En: The train slowed down and stopped several times, but it continued its journey slowly but surely.

No: Timene gikk.
En: The hours passed.

No: Nils bet negler av nervøsitet, men også av håp.
En: Nils bit his nails out of nervousness, but also out of hope.

No: Han holdt alltid blikket mot horisonten.
En: He kept his eyes on the horizon.

No: Endelig, som om julenissen selv hadde gitt tommel opp, nådde toget sin destinasjon.

No: Nils løftet sønnen opp og klemte ham hardt.
En: Nils lifted his son up and hugged him tightly.

No: "Pappa, du er hjemme!
En: "Daddy, you're home!"

No: " lo Mikkel.
En: laughed Mikkel.

No: Det var alt Nils trengte å høre.
En: That's all Nils needed to hear.

No: Han hadde knust seg gjennom vinterens hindringer og var endelig der han hørte til.
En: He had braved the winter’s obstacles and was finally where he belonged.

No: Julen hadde ikke mistet sin magi allikevel.
En: Christmas hadn't lost its magic after all.

No: Gjennom reisen lærte Nils en viktig leksjon i tålmodighet og det uvurderlige ved å være sammen med familien i alle omstendigheter.
