I'm sorry, the Jets? Well, yeah, the media beat report a little bit.
Dave
I didn't see it. No. Every time I see something Jets, I immediately just scroll past it.
Alfredo
Well, Aaron Glenn took the the stand yesterday on Tuesday and this was after Monday. Yeah, yeah, he was on the docket. So he gets up there for his like pre practice press conference. And this was the day after it was reported by Rich Samini that Garrett Wilson was going to miss three to four weeks. And they asked him about some injuries and he just goes, I don't know. Why don't you ask Rich? He's got all the answers and they're like ag, like, this is your job as the coach. You got to tell us what's going on with Garrett Wilson. And he goes, no, no, just. Just ask Rich. He's got all the answers. And like they keep pressing him for it and he just keeps going back to now Rich. Rich knows everything. Rich knows what's going on. All right. See how the practice field. And he just walks off.
Dave
People are livid about it.
Alfredo
And I thought it was kind of funny.
Dave
I mean it is like, it actually is like kind of funny, man. Like, I think. I think the only reason people are actually upset about this is because it hurts their wallets. Like it hurts fantasy managers. It hurts people that are betting. It hurts people in dfs. It hurts people. Like those are the only people that truly care. I feel like jets fans are already there like, they know what's up. I think general NFL fans are like, you. They're just laughing and they're like, ah, good on him. Coach razzing a reporter. You know, the people who are truly upset are clutching their pearls for all.
Alfredo
Of their own personal reasons, 100%. Also, like, this goes back to the Baker Mayfield of it, what he was saying like a month ago. Like, you know, when I was young, I was immature, I was an idiot, I was a jerk. And now all of a sudden I'm winning and I've got moxie and I'm a dog and people love me. The jets are 2 and 7. If they were 7 and 2, I think people would be loving Aaron Glenn doing this sort of stuff. But they're losing, so I don't think people have the patience for it. But I don't know. I think it's funny. And even if you watch the clip, like, all of the reporters are laughing, like, it's not like this, like, tense moment where there's like this, like, headbutting between the coach of the media. Like, even the reporters are laughing. Like, it's a funny moment. But I think you're spot on that. Like, people need to set their BFS lineups and get their prop bets in and they want to know what's going on. Yeah.
Dave
Mike McDaniel went around the Fort Lauderdale bar trolling Bills fans, and it was hilarious to everybody because the Dolphins win. When they lose, though, he's not doing that. And all of his little quirks are incredibly annoying and everyone hates it. The same thing with Aaron Glenn. It had. If they had a winning record right now, they'd be like, oh, that Aaron Glenn, I like him. He's refreshing. This is the same thing with Dan Campbell. Dan Campbell got made fun of and they started winning and they're like, the NFL needs more coaches like Dan Campbell. It's just what it is, man. All we do is play the result.
Alfredo
Yeah, I, I am kind of excited to see what this. You know, I like Justin Fields. No. No surprise to the listeners here. I'm kind of excited to see. Kind of excited to see what they look like with, With. With a quarterback. I don't, I don't think Justin, what are they getting? Long term answer there.
Dave
Okay.
Alfredo
Next year, I'd assume. I don't think Tevrod Taylor is the answer either. So I don't. And that's the other thing too, is I think that if Aaron Glenn, if he was on the hot seat, he probably wouldn't be chirping like that. I think him kind of playfully poking at the beat probably tells me that he feels like he's got a little bit of job security there.
Dave
Yeah. I think you think back to Woody Johnson making the comments about Justin Fields and saying, like, you know, nobody's going to win with a quarterback like this. I think that was him sort of saying, we're going to give this coach more than a year. We're going to let this, this play out. Yeah, we'll fix the, the front office and all that and we'll change that.
Alfredo
And they should consider me an ag fan. I mean, like week one when he was doing the dance on the sideline, like, I, I, yeah, I'm an ag fan.
Dave
Why not, dude? Like, I'm all about coaches that are. There's like a pathway to players, you know, like, he seems to be one of those guys that tries to connect. I mean, you're a former player, right? He wants to connect the players as much as he can. Welcome in to the football guys fantasy football show. Today we are talking about players that you need to trade for if you are looking to make the playoffs and win the fantasy playoffs. So the way we're going to do this is we're going to break this down to two categories. Those of you fantasy managers who have anywhere from three to six wins that you're fighting for a playoff spots get in. Or fantasy managers with seven to 10 wins who you probably have this thing wrapped up. You're going to be going to the fantasy playoffs. But, but you need that extra push to ensure that you're going to win the fantasy championship. Dave, I got to get up to you, man. This was not originally our topic. We were going to talk about playoff stashes. I think we can still do that next week. But this is an article. You have done that. Don't, don't touch your mustache. I almost forgot it was there because I wasn't looking at you, I was looking at the camera. Nope, nope, we don't say that either. I was trying to give you your flowers because you do a very insightful article every year and we turned it into an episode this year. So yeah, I was going to say good idea. And then you talked about stroking your stash on air and now just the whole show has been derailed.
Alfredo
Well, thanks to everybody for tuning in today. Yeah, we're, we're going to talk about this and I think this, it just, just saying trade targets at this point in the season. I don't think that's really fair to the audience. Because like, different teams are focused on different things. Like, if you already have clinched a playoff berth, you should be looking at weeks 15, 16 and 17 and guys that'll help push you through to a championship. And if you are scratching and clawing to get into the playoffs, you want the guys that are giving you immediate production. And if you've got zero to two wins, you know, thanks for tuning in and hanging out with us this late in the season. Better luck next year.
Dave
What? You must have a good personality.
Alfredo
Yeah, yeah, it's.
Dave
Have you seen the meme of you. You watched Arrested Development, right?
Alfredo
Oh, yeah, multiple times.
Dave
Jason Bateman, when he's trying to figure out why his son is into that girl and he's like, is she funny or something?
Alfredo
Yeah.
Dave
Fantasy managers that you got two wins, you're probably really funny. All right, let's her. Her.
Alfredo
Really?
Dave
Yeah, her. All right, so let's do this. We're going to break this down. We got our first category which is fighting for a playoff spot. These are the fantasy managers with three, three to six wins here. Dave, we each have two players that we are going to talk about, which I gotta say, my first one got totally derailed. I was going to talk about Marvin Harrison Jr. And then as we're getting ready to start the show, we get the report that he has appendicitis. Right?
Alfredo
Yep.
Dave
Cool. Emergency appendectomy totally changed everything. But Dave, you've got some targets. Let's hear your first one. First player that you're looking at.
Alfredo
And first of all, like these aren't going to be buy low targets. Like if you are sitting at 3, 4, 5, 6 wins right now, you need to make a big splashy move to get you into the playoffs. And the guy that I'm looking at right now isn't going to come cheap. But Quintean Judkins has a really, really nice schedule between now and the fantasy playoffs. Next week he gets Baltimore giving up more than three and a half points per game to running backs more than average. After that he gets Las Vegas. Another plus matchup. The San Francisco matchup the week after. Not great. But then after that Tennessee, after that Chicago, after that Buck Buffalo. I mean this guy is a plus matchup every single week between now and Week 16 when he gets Pittsburgh in Week 17. Not necessarily a plus matchup, but also not something that's going to scare us off too much here. But what we've seen from Gwinja Judkins is that he is the clear workhorse back in this Cleveland Browns offense. We know he's a talented player. There's no competition for touches and he has a really nice remaining schedule. And this is kind of how I looked at this when I was looking at like players that teams that need immediate production should look for. The first thing I did was eliminate anybody who still has a bye week. You don't want to be trading for somebody who isn't going to be playing between now and the fantasy championships. And then I'm looking at guys who have opportunity right now and guys who have remaining good schedules. Quinton John Judkins checks every single one of those boxes so he's not going to come cheap. Like if you're trading a wide receiver, you got to be okay giving up, you know, a high end wide receiver too to get him. But this is a guy who has a strong stranglehold over this backfield, is talented and plus matchups, one of the best guys you can go and get right now.
Dave
Something you said there I think is going to apply to nearly every player we talk about here today and it's going to apply to the next guy that I'm going to talk about. And it's that we're not really in Bilo scenario with a lot of these players. And honestly I just don't think that that type of thing exists anymore at this point in the season. The bilo windows, we know who's good, we know who's bad, right? Everyone has access to a strength of schedule tool. Everyone can look at these things. Football guys, dot com, head on over there. But the only kind of buy low windows you're gonna have is if a player goes on a bye week and that manager is desperate for a win. That's really it. Like that's all you're going to see. So I'm doing the same thing. Dave, you mentioned buying high on Quinn. Sean Judges, I'm doing the same thing where I am buying high on T. Higgins, wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals. This is my Marvin Harrison Jr. Replacement. He Here and it's pretty simple. Like I'm not going to over complicate this and throw a bunch of data at you. Just keep it really, really simple. It's a good player. We've got the return of Joe Burrow. Whether that is in two weeks, in three weeks, it doesn't matter. Like right now we've got a good quarterback situation with Joe Flacco. We've got really good opponents coming up here that are great for fantasy football. Dave, we got Pittsburgh Steelers this week who T. Higgins had his touchdown the last time and we all remember that game where I know Jamar chase got like 37 targets in a single game against the Steelers. But the Steelers secondary continues to get worse and injuries start to pile up over there. Situation already wasn't very good. After that you got the Patriots where like you and I were talking before the show. Christian Gonzalez is going to be on Jamar Chase for most of that game and then you've got after that Baltimore and Buffalo. So you're looking at games that not only are there going to be easy corner matchups, but these are going to be shootouts, games where the ball is going to have to be passed a ton. I mean I'm ready for a Joe Burrow Bengals against the Josh Allen Bills matchup. Like that's going to be phenomenal. Or give me a Lamar Jackson Joe Burrow matchup in a couple weeks. Like I want to see these. And yeah, maybe, maybe there's going to be that small bit of worry that Joe Burrow doesn't return to exactly what his form was before. But I don't care.
Alfredo
I've seen Joe Flack overlays the last few weeks. They're going to be fine.
Dave
Right? Like that's part of trading. Like there's always going to be that 1% or that 5% or however you want to look at it of risk. Like this is the time that if you're look it's it's now or never. Like you can't carry over the the consolation into next season, make the move and go for the playoffs.
Alfredo
Yeah, and what you said earlier too about like being willing to buy high, I think you have to at this point in the season. Like the buy lows are guys that you are buying early in the season that are underperforming and you've got the patience and the time to wait for them to break out. It's crunch time. Like we got a month left before the fantasy playoffs start. I don't have a lot of patience, especially if I've got a losing record right now. I need to buy productive players who are giving me points right now. Quinjan Judkins is going to do that. T. Higgins is going to do that. The next couple of guys we're talking about are going to do that as well. The last thing too that I'll I'll mention before I talk about my next player is we're throwing all of these numbers at you. You know about these matchups and other plus matchups. Go to footballguys.com click the little tool Button, tools button, I should say. And then you'll see strength of schedule. This is one of my favorite and I don't use it at all in the first half of the season because I don't think we have enough data points to really draw from it. But over the second half of the season, that's when we start getting these trends. It might be my favorite tool to use over the second half of the season. You can sort by week, by position, by overall, and it tells you exactly every single week how much more or less running backs, wide receivers, quarterbacks and tight ends will score against those opponents. So we've got a lot of good tools over at football guys, but this time of year, this is without a doubt my favorite.
Dave
If we're talking tools over at football guys, I also love the fantasy points allowed tool that I think goes hand in hand with the strength of schedule. For those of you looking for more, you really get into the data. That's another great one that we have over there.
Alfredo
And talking about tools over at football guys, shout out. Joey Wright. Hey, I was wondering if. We love you, Joey.
Dave
I was trying to hold it back.
Alfredo
Really love you, Joey. Hope you're having a good day.
Dave
That'll be the test to see if he's watching or listening. All right, Dave, we each have two more here for fantasy managers that are trying to get into the fantasy playoffs. Who's the next guy you want to talk about?
Alfredo
I actually like this guy more than Quinn, John Judkins, but personally save the best for last both, you know, just, just really what I like though is the remaining schedule for Jalen Warren. It is so good. He's got one of the best remaining schedules and it starts this week. Week 11 going up against Cincinnati. This is a wild stat, Alfredo. Again looking at the football guys. Strength of schedule tool. Cincinnati is averaging 10.6 more points per game to opposing running backs. An average team out there. So I mean like we're looking at Jaylen Warren right now giving us about 15 points per game. Just looking at this tool like if we add the matchup to it, like this should be a 25 point week from Jaylen Warren. We've talked about it a bunch that he is just getting a workhorse role. We were expecting the efficiency to dip a little bit knowing that he'd get more volume with Najee Harris out of the picture. That has not been the case. Like he is just as efficient as ever. He has looked good this year. He is double digitized by Google carries and two plus targets in every Single game he's played so far this year, giving him a very safe floor. A couple of weeks ago, we were talking about the, you know, potential for positive touchdown regression. He immediately comes out the next week, scores two touchdowns. So we know that he can do that now. And even while he is in this workhorse role, just a couple of days ago, Aaron Rodgers came out and said, we need to get Jalen Warren more involved. Like a guy who's already getting 70% of the backfield touches, they want him more involved. We see him making spectacular plays almost every single week, whether it's breaking tackles, hurtling over defenders. He is the same efficient player he was now, just with a much bigger workload. And it's not just this week against Cincinnati. The week after that, he's got Chicago, which we know is a great matchup. After that, Buffalo giving Up over more 4 points per game more than the average team. After that, he's got Baltimore. After that, he's got Miami. After that, he's got Detroit and then Cleveland. Week 17, you know, not the best matchup, but if you get to week 17, you know, you can. You can deal with that when you get there. And might have a tough start. Sit decision, but future problem. Exactly. Yeah. Right now, you know, I'm worried about the next month and a half getting to the championship. And Jalen Warren is one of those guys. If you can trade for him, he will help get you to championship week.
Dave
I don't think it's crazy to say that Jalen Warren might be the best offensive player on the Steelers at this point.
Alfredo
Yeah, I mean, I mean, Metcalf's a better athlete, but yeah, Jalen Warren, like, he's darn good. And consider me a doubter, too. Like I was. We have seen this song and dance so many times where backup running back comes in, sees soft boxes, has these really nice efficiency metrics, and then when he gets the full workload, falls off a cliff. It's very rare that that guy actually gets that full workload like Alexander Madison, Zemir White. Like, we've seen all the guys that have busted. And for every Tony Pollard who ends up actually becoming a good workhorse back, you've got 20. Alexander Madison's right. Jalen Warren is on that Tony Pollard trajectory. Like, he looks really, really good as the lead back this year.
Dave
Well, he'll be on the Titans next year then. And.
Alfredo
Oh, please, no, please. Know everybody, as soon as you put on that Titans jersey, you just instantly look washed.
Dave
Like it doesn't matter who you are. Hopkins Andre Johnson, just Drake May could.
Alfredo
Put a Titans jersey on right now and I'd be like, okay, career.
Dave
Don't. Don't you put that evil on me. Dave Kluge. No. All right, man. I'm gonna go with another player here, a running back, which I think this might be our first real buy low of the show. And even that I think is only semi true. He's not really a buy low, but David Montgomery, running back for the Detroit Lions One of the big things we talked about this past week is that Dan Campbell took over play calling for the Lions. And I know that it was made a big deal of it, like there was a big deal made of it on TV by the broadcasting team because it had not been seen throughout Dan Campbell's career. But I think the biggest thing we saw from it is the usage trends that Dan Campbell wants. He got Jameson Williams more involved, he got David Montgomery more involved. And that was the big thing for me, is seeing that Montgomery saw the most touches that he has since week five. He had his highest snap percentage of the season in this game. A lot of people won't notice those things right now because he only scored 10 fantasy points.
Alfredo
Jameer Gibbs at 250 yards.
Dave
Yeah, like he got three touchdowns and just has this insane game. So everything is going to be one. Well, Jameer Gibbs has a stranglehold on this backfield when in reality he doesn't like he actually had a lower snap percentage than David Montgomery. Jir Gibbs is just incredibly talented player who's going to make big plays. So what I like to see is just that there's more volume in Montgomery's favor here. He's still leading Detroit's backfield, especially when they get down into the goal line and an early down work. Lions are top five in red zone drive rate, meaning they're getting into the red zone a very high percentage of their offensive drives. And that's something where we know that Dave Montgomery still has that two or three touchdown game potential in him in any week. So not only do you know that you've got a good floor of an a low end RB2 who's going to get you 12, 13, 14 touches in a game, but he can also be that guy. Gives you top five running back upside with two touchdowns on the goal line. The schedule coming up is the fourth easiest schedule for fantasy running backs. Philly, New York Giants, Green Bay and Dallas. Dallas, that big one where it's going to be wide open for him and that is the final week where teams are trying to get into the fantasy playoffs.
Alfredo
And you know, we, we talked in the cold open. If you're watching on YouTube, go check out, you know, what we do on Apple podcasts and whatnot. We always have these fun little cold opens, but we talked a lot about Aaron Glenn in the cold open. And, you know, Dan Campbell obviously is the one that helped Aaron Glenn get to where he is, but might be the best coach in football right now. And like, what we saw last week, like, a lot of coaches aren't going to do this. Like, the team was 5 and 3. They were sitting atop the NFC North. And Dan Campbell still said, like, we need to make a change. Like, we're not getting those explosive plays. Like, David Montgomery isn't getting involved. And he took play calling away from an offensive coordinator that had led them to a 5 and 3 record. One of the better offensive performances that we've seen so far this season. It's not an easy decision to make, but we saw Dan Campbell immediately reverted this Lions team to what they were last year, where they've got the explosives with Jameson Williams, they've got the physical David Montgomery, and then that opens up for Sam LaPorta to have a big game as well. Jir Gibbs coming in fresher, only playing 50% of the snaps. He can rip off bigger plays and do what he does as well. So, you know, I, I, I think a lot of coaches would just be sitting there saying, like, hey, you know, we're, we're doing well. We're, we're winning almost 70% of our games. We're in first place. Like, let's just keep coasting through the season here. And Dan Campbell still saw room for improvement. So I love that. And you know, we, we were very much so big. Jameson Williams touts this off season and felt pretty silly about that through the first month and a half of the season. But after seeing what he did last week, you know, now, now we're seeing Jameson Williams over his last four games, averaging over six targets per game. Like, he's getting involved now. We saw him as kind of the focal point of the offensive passing attack last week. I just think the Lions are trending in the right direction. I want to trade for any Lion I possibly can. Good remaining schedule, but also almost all the remaining games are indoors. And that's when we see this Lions offense really clicks.
Dave
All of you three win fantasy teams right now. This is how you win. This is how you do it. This is your moment. Go out and get some Lions today. We'll attempt a feat once thought impossible. Overcoming high interest credit card debt it requires merely one thing, a SoFi personal loan. With it you could save big on interest charges by consolidating into one low fixed rate monthly pay payment. Defy high interest debt with a SOFI personal loan. Visit sofi.com stunt to learn more. Loans originated by SoFi Bank NA member FDIC terms and conditions apply nmls696891 all right Dave, let's go to the other category we want to talk about here, which is the teams that have either already clinched or most likely clinched. You've got either seven to 10 wins in your fantasy league. Everything's looking good for you. You know you're going to make the fantasy playoffs now you just need players that are going to help you win when you get there. This is either players that are not valued the way they should be, players that have very easy matchups in the fantasy playoffs, or just guys that are due for some regression. Regression to the mean. Don't get at me in the comments, okay? It's a real thing. It's not positive regression. Actually, you know what, I do want to hear it get at me in the comments. It helps the algorithm. All right Dave, talk about this first player that you want to get if you have already clinched a playoff spot.
Alfredo
I'm probably taking the low hanging fruit here, but Amarian Hampton, like this guy has all of the markings of being a potential league winner. And I think a lot of people right now that spent a second, third, maybe he fell in the fourth round, but like he was going early in drafts this year and has missed a lot more time than I think people expected. And if that person who is rostering Omarion Hampton right now is one of those guys that's sitting at three, four, five wins, they probably need to make a shakeup to help them get into the fantasy playoffs. And this week we're probably not going to see Omarion Hampton the week after that. A bye week. So they're still looking at two more potential zeros for Omarion Hampton and honestly, like I don't even know if he's going to be back the week after that. I don't know if he's going to be back the week after that, but we probably expect him to see him at some point this season. When Omarion Hampton was out there after the Najee Harris injury, we saw him just immediately turning in RB1 production. We were talking about this guy as a top five rest of season running back, a first round draft draft pick on a good offense. He was getting peppered with targets out of the backfield as well. And that's something also that now without Joe Alt there, we see a lot more of those short passing attack type of mentality from the, from the Chargers. You know, early in the year when they had Joe Alt, it was all downfield stuff. Getting the ball way deep downfield to Quentin Johnson. Without Joe Alt, we've seen them revert to this kind of dink and dunk approach. Getting the ball to lad McConkey, getting the ball to Aronda Gadson, and when Omarion Hampton comes back, getting the ball to Hampton as well. So I'm kind of at the point that, like, if I already clinched a playoff spot or if I'm sitting at seven wins and I know that I'm probably making it in, I don't really care about what happens over the next couple of weeks. But when I start looking at the playoff matchups like Week 16 against Dallas, Omarion Hampton is going to be in the running to be the top scoring running back that week. Like that is a great matchup. We know he is a talented first round player on a good offense, has some nice matchups remaining between now and the end of the year. Even if he doesn't play the next three or four weeks, it doesn't matter. You're already in the playoffs. Go out and trade for Amari and Hampton.
Dave
Yeah, man, Chargers offense is just, it's good. Like I can make it as simple as shocker. This is a good offense with a good quarterback. If we've seen that Kamani Vidal has been able to make things work for fantasy purposes and for NFL purposes and that different players can score. It's not just one or two guys like this. This offense is built for everyone. Let's get Amari and Hampton back out there now. Granted, be ready. This is the type of decision you make for when you are a team that already has the wins and already has the roster. Because there could be a ramp process, right? Like maybe when Omarion Hampton is activated, you don't start him in that first week. But then you see, okay, there was a good amount of usage, they're going to continue to ramp him up and you're starting him in that second week or flexing him, whatever you're doing there, right? So I think this is. These are the kind of moves that you take with calculated risk because your team is already very good.
Alfredo
Right? And my guess is that he probably comes back week 13. I think he's probably going to get one more week off. Then he's got the buy in week 12. He'll come back in week 13. You're not playing him there. But then you get that week 14, the week before fantasy championships or fantasy playoffs start. Then you feel good putting them in your lineup and then by the time week 15 comes around actually in the fantasy playoffs at that point I've already seen what he looks like. He's probably already through his ramp up period. And then you've got the utmost trust in just firing him up as an RB1 through the playoffs.
Dave
100%. 100%. And I'm going to get to my guy here, Dave. Tyler Warren, tight end for the Indianapolis Colts and this is 100% a buy high moment for Tyler Warren here. I just, I don't want to try to survive through the fantasy playoffs. Like that's not how it works. Like having a guy who's sort of on the cusp of being the tight end 10 to 12, it's not really going to set me apart from the other teams in my league that are very, very good. I want to be able to be superior at, at these premium positions, quarterbacks, tight ends, because as you get into these smaller batches, those positions are going to matter that much more. And Tyler Warren has a bye week this week. I talked about it earlier. There's not really buy low windows left anymore for any of these players, especially the really good ones. This might be the only time that you can maybe go out and trade for Tyler Warren because that manager is thinking, okay, I've already grabbed another tight end off the waiver wire or I've had a Harold fan and, or someone that has been on my roster all season. I think I can make a move here that makes me better. And I think this is where you do it. There was a lot of excitement this last week around Alec Pierce and the Colts offense in general and Jonathan Taylor. But Tyler Warren quietly had the best game of his career. Eight catches on 10 targets for 99 yards. We didn't get a huge touchdown output and like I said, this is the buy high scenario. But he's got the easiest strength of schedule for tight ends in the Fantasy playoffs. Weeks 15 through 17. Seattle, San Francisco, Jacksonville. That Jacksonville secondary is absolutely atrocious. Go back and look at the Brock Bowers game against Jacksonville. Yeah, that's all I'm going to say. It's, it's. Everything is set for Tyler Warren to not only just be a very good rookie, a very good tight end, but to be a fantasy league winner from a very important position.
Alfredo
Yeah, and I think you've kind of got like your elite tight ends that you feel really good about, and that's Trey McBride, Brock Bowers, Tyler Warren, Gadson, if he's able to play, and then George Kittle now that he's healthy again. But, like, I want one of those guys in the fantasy playoffs. Like, you know, you can get through scraping by in the regular season streaming. Colson Loveland and Harold Fanning and Hunter Henry and those sorts of guys. Jake Ferguson, like, even I, I think he's on the fringe. I, I have Jake Ferguson kind of in like the Kelsey Goddard tier where, like, he's not.
Dave
I'm saying, like, I'd. I'd much rather be able to move one of those guys. No, I. Kelsey and Quinton Johnston or something like that for Tyler Warren, to me is, those are two good players. It's fine. I'm getting such a massive upgrade at that important position. I'm doing that immediately.
Alfredo
Or another one. If you've got one of these guys that like, you know, is going to be here for a short time, not, you know, like a commandee Bidal, you're.
Dave
For a good time, not a long time.
Alfredo
Right, right. Like, like I'm thinking like a Commandee Vidal or Shot White, a guy who's a starter right now but isn't going to be starting through the fantasy playoffs. If you can trade your Travis Kelce plus Kamani Vidal to tear up into one of those tight ends who is a true difference maker, I don't know how easy that is going to be. Like, easier said than done. Of course, a lot of people don't want to give up on these elite tight ends, but, like, I'm making strong moves to try to get these guys before the playoffs.
Dave
All right, Dave, we got two more players that we're going to talk about here. You've got a similar theme to the last guy you talked about. There's another guy that's, that's been out of action for a little bit, but when he returns, could be really big.
Alfredo
Pretty Ricky. Maybe I'm just tethered to my preseason biases still. Like, maybe I wish I knew how to quit you. He's just, he's so good, man. Like, that's really what it is. He is sixth in the league right now in yards per game, tied with CD Lamb. And of course, yeah, context came on a very small sample size ranking games played. Exactly. That's the missing context here. He's been hurt for a long time and like, probably should have had an IR stint, but sounds like he is going to return to practice this week. And like whatever you look at, if you're looking at the per game data, the per route run map data, it doesn't matter. Like he is checking elite boxes here. 2.29 yards per route run is elite for wide receivers. So again, this is one of those where I think that people who have been holding on to him are just frustrated at this point. Like they've been holding him, he never hit IR so they couldn't move him to the IR spot. He's just been taking up dead space on the bench for the last two months here. He's also got a week 14 buy which a lot of people who have drafted Ricky Pearsall, if they've got a losing record right now, they're looking for players who don't have upcoming bye weeks. But really, for me, I don't care if Ricky Pearsall misses the next three weeks and comes back after the buy. It's that playoff schedule that gets me really excited. Weeks 15, 16 and 17, three straight plus matchups. He's got Tennessee in week 15 giving up over a point per game more to wide receivers than the average team. Indianapolis is an even better matchup, giving up 3.2 points per game more than the average team. And then in week 17, just a smash matchup against the Chicago Bears getting up over four points per game more than the average defense. So this is what you're drafting or I'm sorry, trading for to get Ricky Pierce Hall. I don't think it matters if he's back this week, next week, the week after. It's after the buy. I mean, I'd love to see him log a game before the buy so we can kind of see what he looks like and then the ramp up after the buy. But that playoff matchup is so juicy. He's a talented player that we already saw, can be the wide receiver one in this offense. He's a guy that I would love to go out and get right now if I've already clinched the spot.
Dave
And I'll say this like, we're starting to see better production from Joanne Jennings. We're starting to see that George Kittle is putting it together. We haven't even gotten Brock Purdy back out there yet. Like, we have not seen this Niners offense back at full strength. And Dave, we need to. I think what we need to do is at the end of the season, we've always done this. Like, where did we go wrong and what lesson like, can we Just make a manifesto of all the things that we need to be keeping track of and need to remember for the next season. Because one of the things that has stuck out to me so much is Brandon Ayuk is still not playing, and we may never get Brandon Iuk on the field this season. And, like, it's just one of those things that you. I want to remember this next year. It's like, don't. Don't be buying into these players just because you get the massive discount on a guy who's coming off injury and not playing. Chris Godwin is the other one. Like, I know I sort of.
Alfredo
I veered this preseason. You said, like, injuries are going to find you in the season, so don't go looking for them in your fantasy drafts. And that stuck with me. That was very eloquently put.
Dave
It's. They're just there, man. Like Ricky Pierce. All. I understand there's going to be a lot of people that are frustrated right now. This is a guy that we saw when he's on the field. He's. He's much better than I think a lot of people thought. I think he's every bit as good as some of his counterparts in his draft class. The lad McConkeys trying to think, yeah, no, no, no, no, no. Not Keon Coleman. He's much better than Keon Coleman. Yeah, Like, I know that was a guy, like, he was getting comped to a lot because they were drafted around the same time. There's maybe some other similarities as well. Scrappy gym rats, you know, But Ricky Pierce, all man. I love this schedule, Dave. I love the schedule. Seeing Chicago in that final week and Indy the week before is like, those are the games that it is set up for. Just perfect success of a shootout with a bad secondary. And I'm so in on that.
Alfredo
Yeah, I usually, like, stay very locked in on the show, but as I was doing that, I was just like, I flipped real quickly over to my home league and I'm like, go with Ricky Pearsall's got a losing record. Let's see if, you know, looking at it. Like, yeah, yeah. So I don't know, like, Jameson Williams is on my team and that was the first guy I was like, maybe I'll trade Jameson Williams for Ricky Pearsall. I think I still prefer Jameson Williams there. But the offer I sent over to this guy who is desperate for some starters, I just sent him Keenan Allen and Tajie Spears to see how low I could potentially buy on Ricky Pierce. I'll We'll. We'll see if that gets accepted. I doubt it.
Dave
Yeah, probably. I wouldn't do that one. All right, we got one last player here and this one, I will actually admit I saved this one for last because in my eyes, this is maybe the, the riskiest one because you may just get exactly what he is right now and nothing more. And say, Flowers, man, wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens. I'm looking at this as a little bit risky because you might be moving mountains to go and just get a guy who's going to continue to be a low end wide receiver 2, high end wide receiver 3 on most days. But I think that a lot of what he's done this season has been kind of put out of context. We have so many games without Lamar Jackson, and having Lamar back is just the ultimate cheat code. And then having this offense and Lamar come off of a bad passing week against Minnesota, I think is going to keep the price a little bit lower on a guy like Zay Flowers. So it could potentially mitigate some of the risk that you have here. Zay Flowers just continues to lead Baltimore in targets in target share. He's eighth in the NFL with 27 target share. He's averaging seven targets per game. He's got all the great peripherals that spreadsheet guys love. The yards per target, yards per route, run yards after catching, doing everything. One of the big stats, one of the big metrics that stands out is only a 6% team touchdown rate. It's the touchdowns, man. He's got one touchdown all season and it was week one with Lamar. Now I'm looking at it this way. I'm trying to add context and just add common sense to this. It's a good player getting the most targets on his team. Lamar Jackson is their quarterback. The Ravens themselves will be having to compete for a playoff spot going forward. Dave and then weeks 15 through 17, in those final weeks, you've got Cincinnati, give me that shootout against the Bengals secondary, you've got the new New England Patriots, who Zay Flowers, I think likely we would have said would get covered by Christian Gonzalez. But Zay Flowers moves all over the formation. You're going to see him running out of the slot and doing a lot of Z work that you wouldn't typically see out of a team's top receiver. And then Green Bay, who we just saw Devontae Smith be able to have himself another big game there. So I think there is, there is absolutely a path for Zay Flowers here to be a league winning type player. We just need that touchdown regression to the mean. We need that touchdown variance to come back in favor for him.
Alfredo
Yeah, and I mean yards per route run we talk about all the time like one of the most predictive metrics out there for how a player is doing. And right now there's a very short list of guys that are ahead of Zay Flowers in yards per route run and that comes with half of his games being without Lamar Jackson. The guys ahead of him right now, Devonta Smith, Jalen Waddle, CD Lamb, Drake London, Amonra St. Brown, Stefan Diggs, Puka Nukua, Jackson, Smith, Najigba. That's it. So like say Flowers is performing like a wide receiver one. He's drawing targets like a wide receiver one. It is just the touchdowns and we know that Lamar Jackson is going to throw for a lot of touchdowns. And I think that there's so much like looking at the full body of work for Zay Flowers. He feels like a very disappointing draft pick this year. But just the touchdown luck, the Lamar Jackson injury, those are both things that we don't have to worry about the Lamar Jackson injury anymore. The touchdown look should balance itself out. I'm glad you talked about Zay Flowers because if you didn't, I was going to squeeze him in at the end here. Another one of those guys that I think is just like a buy low. I talked about him in a buy low show two weeks ago. Talked about him in a buy low show three or four weeks ago as well. Like I've been trying to buy Zay Flowers all season long.
Dave
I think we had a good balance of players here. I think we had a good balance of like the obvious guys going to the buy highs, the players that are really good with really good schedules. We had the guys coming off of IR who maybe some have forgotten about and then some other players, they're just sort of off the beaten path that you're not really thinking about as even buy low players, just players that are there. So I think we gave everybody a little something to chew on here. Dave, this was fun. I really like this exercise, man. Kudos to you. It's a great idea. Alfredo on trade urgency:
“It’s crunch time; I don’t have patience, especially if I’ve got a losing record right now. I need to buy productive players who are giving me points right now.” (11:40)
Dave on “buy low” fallacy:
“We’re not really in buy-low scenario with a lot of these players. And honestly, I just don't think that that type of thing exists anymore at this point in the season.” (09:16)
Alfredo, on Dan Campbell’s boldness:
“Dan Campbell still said, like, we need to make a change…He took play-calling away from an offensive coordinator that had led them to 5–3.” (18:41)
Dave, summarizing strategy:
“All of you three-win fantasy teams right now. This is how you win. This is how you do it. This is your moment. Go out and get some Lions today.” (20:27)
