By now, you know all of the free agents and the names. We've been talking about them for months. But today what Joey Wright and I are going to do before free agency opens is talk about the best potential landing spots and who we think would be best in each of those landing spots. Joey, it is Monday, so here we are on the Football Guys Fantasy Football show. First question I have for you before we jump into all of these potential landing spots. And and maybe I'm setting ourselves up to just have all the viewers tune out immediately, but do you think we put a little bit too much importance on landing spots? Should we just blindly be betting on talent or does this actual mat actually matter, like where these guys end up?
A
I mean, you can see a great player land in a bad spot and it definitely hurt their value. I think landing spots matter a lot. So. So I think it's good we're doing this and I don't think people should tune out. So we're going to cover some good stuff. But yeah, landing spots definitely do matter. I mean, there are certain players that no matter where they go, they're going to succeed. But for the most part, there needs to be opportunity there as well.
B
And I think different positions as well, like running backs are going to be much more impacted by landing spot receivers. We can see if you're a good receiver even in a bad situation. I mean, don't look at Justin Jefferson, what he did last year, but for the most part, like we do see wide receivers, if they are very talented, can overcome bad situation situations. We often see good running backs in a backfield with another good running back not doing what we want to see. We all saw the Seattle backfield and how that shook out last week, but or last year. But anyway, Joey, what we did, we took some of our favorite landing spots. We ranked them 1 through 14. We're going to start at the bottom and work our way up. These are all relatively good landing spots, but we'll get to the best of the Best at the end of the show. But first one we're going to talk about here, the Baltimore Ravens wide receiver. They, we, we know that they've got Marquis or not Marquis Brown, Zay Flowers there and Mark Andrews of course. But I think the major out here that we want to see if a wide receiver lands in Baltimore is a guy who can catch a lot of touchdowns. Because we saw just a couple years ago Rashad Bateman was able to make his year like that. So is that what we're hoping for here or do you think there is room for another volume based wide receiver?
A
I mean, I think it has to be somebody efficient. I don't think a volume based wide receiver is going to work. Well, it would have to come at the expense of Mark Andrews. And if it did happen, Baltimore passed the less least amount last year, 25 times per game on average. That was only 45.4% of the time. You know, if they had like a big bodied wide receiver, a red zone threat, I could see that working. Someone like Mike Evans who's linked somewhere else, it sounds like. Which listen, my Buccaneers heart, I've had him for what 11 seasons now. Let him go elsewhere, let, let others get to share in the joy of his thousand yard seasons and multiple touchdowns. It's wonderful. He's beautiful, beautiful man. But like we're talking about Baltimore right now, not Mike Evans. Joey, we need to remember that. I do think it would need to come at the expense of Mark Andrews. So I don't think we're going to see a volume base. I think it's going to have to be somebody super, super efficient.
B
And that's exactly what we saw in 2024 from Rashad Bateman. Like the volume target. The target volume wasn't there but he was able to catch a bunch of touchdowns and we've seen that this is kind of like how they operate as well. You remember they were in the running for Kenny Golladay when he was a free agent. They brought in Sammy Watkins. We saw just last year with DeAndre Hopkins. I think Mike Evans would make a lot of sense for them. I think the issue is this is just such a low volume passing attack like Zay Flowers barely got there in fantasy last year, pulled a 29 target share, 11th most of any wide receiver. So even if you have a massive, massive target share, it's just such a low volume offense that it's really hard to get too excited about the secondary or tertiary options here. But still we will be watching as we know this could be efficient. Passing attack. Next spot we want to talk about here. Another one that probably going to require some good efficiency. But the Kansas City Chiefs, they are going to be looking for a wide receiver potentially. And Joey, I'm just going to be honest. I think that they need to start looking ahead at life without Rashi Rice, whether it's this recent thing that he's going through, other issues in the past. I feel like they're kind of on a expiring shelf life, if you will, with Rashi Rice. So is there an available free agent in this class that you think can do a lot of the same things that Rashi Rice does in the Chiefs offense?
A
Well, I mean there's kind of some low hanging fruit there and I had the thought, I wonder if they would think about bringing Tyree Kill back. I had the thought but Chris Jones tweeted it. Already tweeting at him, you know, kind of kicking the tires. Like would Tyreek Hill make a lot of sense there? I think he would. I think he fills a lot of the needs that the Chiefs would need to have. He's been there before. Maybe we can mint some fences, see them back. As far as his injury, he is expected to be back week one. There was no cartilage damage or no nerf damage in the cartilage was still intact. So I was a little worried about that injury. But it sounds like Tyreek Hill could be back on the field. I'm sure he would lose maybe a step or two from that injury, but still, he's still one of the fastest players in the league. I could see him doing everything Rashid Rice does to a small degree though.
B
And I'm not gonna try to talk too much about the injury just because it's so far out right now like it is March. We don't know what he's going to be looking like in August or September. I will say I feel like this time of year is like peak time of year for agents to just be like blindly optimistic and pushing out whatever they can. I mean, I saw Tyree Hill's knee fold in half and he is 30 years old coming back from an injury that we've seen like Tank Dowell, who is younger and seemingly more healthy at this age in his career, is struggling to come back from as well. So I'm a little hesitant to see that he'll be ready week. But again, we'll talk about that as we get closer to training camp. Some of the guys that I look at, you know, we've seen this Chiefs passing attack. They, they really like those, those crossers where they can just quickly get the ball in the receiver's hands and allow them to create after the catch. So some of the guys that get me excited, Wanda Robinson. I don't know if the Chiefs have the money to afford him, but seeing what he did over the last couple of years in New York, I think that would be a great fit. Romeo Dubs. You're going to hear me talking a lot about Romeo Dubs on today's show. I think he is much better than the way he was utilized in Green Bay. Very good blocker. Can also create after the catch. Good possession receiver, surehanded. I think he'd make sense there. Juwan Jennings, kind of a cheaper option if they can't get. Romeo Doves, also a little bit older. And then John Mechi and Diami Brown. Those are some maybe weird names to be pulling out talking about free agency. But we have seen if there's a type that this Kansas City team really likes to go out and get, it's these guys who are highly drafted and didn't really figure it out with their first teams, but have the pedigree, have the athleticism, have the draft capital and they like to try to retread those types of guys. So John Mechi, Diami Brown, Brown. Other guys that might be on the watch list for the Kansas City Chiefs.
A
Let's go. I really like the jump. Oh, I love the John Mechi call out. He's someone that I've always rooted for because he got taken off field. It was really not his fault.
B
Right.
A
With what happened to him and last year he had some bright spots with the Jets. To see him move on to do that with Chiefs would be awesome. I would love to see that. Yeah.
B
And for anybody, you know, it's not a. A secret he had leukemia. I mean like just unbelievable that he was able to come back whatsoever. Missed all of his rookie season. He found out this diagnosis right before training camp open. So missed quite a bit of time and was able to come back last year looked great in flashes with the jets and a guy who can catch the ball and create after the catch, which is what we know they really prioritize in this offense. But the next spot that we want to talk about, we are still in the. The decent if we want to label these the decent landing spots. Indiana wide receiver. And I think that the for the Colts. This is an interesting one because we know Alec Pierce is expected to leave. But also if you look at Michael Pittman's contract, he is just prime candidate to be a potential cap casualty here. They owe him $29 million this year. They can release him and save 25 of that $29 million. So to me, I almost wonder, like, why haven't the Colts done this already? Like, why haven't they just moved on from Mike Pittman and used that money to resign Alec Pierce? Joe, do you have any insight here?
A
My theory on that is that Alec Pierce knows he. It's a pretty weak wide receiver class when you look at some of the wide receivers available. Not that it's weak, it's just there's not a big name sitting out there. Alec Pierce might be the best wide receiver on this free agent market. He led the league last year in yards per reception with a minimum of 50 receptions. So you're looking at 21.3 yards per reception. The next closest person to him was Christian Watson with 17.5, almost six total yards after the reception, more than the second place guy. He is going to if, in my opinion, probably get the biggest contract of all the wide receivers on this free agent market, I think he's going to test it. I do still think he could go back to Indianapolis though. They could reach some, reach some type of resolution, you know, give him the bag and then he's there. But I think that's what Indianapolis will probably like at this point too.
B
And I think Alec Pierce is kind of the skeleton key that unlocks this entire offense because his ability to play deep just opens up the underneath targets for Mike Pittman and Josh Downs and Tyler Warren. It also helps the run game with Jonathan Taylor. So I would really hate to see him in a new spot. That being said, if we see an uptick in target volume in a new spot and he can maintain that efficiency that we've seen through his first few years in the league, Alec Pierce could take a huge step forward in 2026. Let me check, Joey. I think, yeah, this is the last one that we're going to talk about in this tier of the decent landing spots here. A wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins. Now, we don't know who the quarterback's going to be in Miami and I think a lot of OB signals right now are pointing to Malik Willis. But when I'm looking at this offense, Joey, we know that Jalen Model is going to get his, Devon Achan is going to get his. How much is there left over in that passing pie? If we're looking at a potentially low volume offense with Jalen Waddle and Hn getting theirs off the top is There enough for another wide receiver to still operate inside this offense and be relevant in fantasy.
A
I do think there is. I mean last year we did see them the Dolphins Road bottom 10 team in passing but the private previous two years they were passing about 6% more a game. So around 52 to 55 of the game they were passing the ball. It just changed last year. I think that injury with Tyree Kill kind of changed things around but a chance catching a lot of balls out of the backfield. So yeah, they're gonna get their work. But you know, Tyreek Hill was getting around 100 targets, over 100 targets in some instances and seasons with Miami there. So I do think there's room somebody that I like and I think might be an unusual. I did think it was an unusual fit until you kind of was it the confirmed my, you know, thought was Juwan Jennings. I think he would do really well in this offense. His height kind of addresses some of that red zone work they were having trouble with last year. They were targeting the tight end as well. And I know Juwan Jennings isn't necessarily a tight end, but he's a big body wide receiver that can work in the middle a little bit. I think he's a good fit for Miami. Do you, do you like Jennings there?
B
Yeah, I think Jennings makes a ton of sense. I'll also talk about Romeo Dubs, who I'm going to talk about a lot on this show today because I think that he is another very well rounded guy. Also with Halfley there in Miami now as the head coach, he's got the connection with Romeo Dubs from their time together in Green Bay. Debo Samuel, another one that I think could make a lot of sense. But I think so much of this comes down to who the quarterback is going to be and like we think it's going to be Malik Willis and we've seen Malik Willis like he can hit the checkdowns, he can run the ball, but he also has a big arm as well. So I want to see if they're going to add some sort of field stretching element to this offense. Offense. But again we're, we're like speculating about speculating right now. Like we're saying like what this offense could look like with Malik Willis and what they need to add to it. But what if they do go the Kyler Murray route or what if they bring in Derek Carr? Like there are so many other options out there that it's hard to know exactly what moves they'll be making. But either way Jaylen Model. I think there is enough potentially left over after he gets his share for there to be a serviceable wide receiver too, in this offense. But Joey continuing to work down. Now, we have moved from good, I'm sorry, from decent to good landing spots. And the first one we're going to talk about here, the New Orleans running back room, we still don't really know what's going on with Alvin Camara. There are rumors that he could potentially be retiring, that they could be releasing him. We don't really know. But assuming he's gone, which I think is a safe assumption to make at this point, you'd think that maybe the Saints would lean on Devin Neal or is this almost assuredly a position of need that they want to go out and address in the free agency or draft here? I tend to think that they probably won't want to go in with just Devin Neal, but I want to get your thoughts here, Joey.
A
Yeah, I was kind of the Devin Neal guy last year in the draft process. It was somebody I really liked coming out of Kansas and I thought, okay, this is a really good fit. When he landed in New Orleans, I was like, all right, Albuquerque will probably be gone in a year or two. This is great. And then we saw Devin Neal playing the NFL last year and it didn't look so great. So I don't think he's going to be Alvin Camara's successor. Now listen, Neil could go out and have a great sophomore year. I don't think we're looking at that. I want to shout out my good buddy Jeff Bell, who likes to talk about narratives. I like to talk about narratives, too. Yeah, there is one player that's just we need to get on one highway to get to New Orleans. Just one highway. Dave, do you know what is one highway away from New Orleans?
B
I don't.
A
Jacksonville, Florida. Travis ETN, moving over to the Saints. I think he's a really perfect fit there. He's a great pass catcher, great changing directions a lot like Alvin Camara. So if we're looking for a successor to Alvin Camara, I think Travis Etienne kind of fits that mold. That's a big name player to go in there.
B
I do like that. Yeah, if.
A
If they see a lot of promise in Devin Neal, though, maybe they don't bring in somebody as big as him. But I think ETN makes a lot of sense there in New Orleans, and
B
I think the only major concern would be the cap space. You know, they'd have to get a little bit creative. But we've seen historically that Mickey Loomis is willing to just wheel and deal and push money around and make things happen. Rico Dowdle is the one that jumps out to me just because Kellen Moore, when he was at Dallas, that was when they drafted Rico Dowdle. So he's got some familiarity there. I think that he'd be a good fit. But Joey, we got to backtrack a little bit. I'm gonna flip the overlay back. We were just talking about wide receiver, Indianapolis Colts and I was talking about like, why haven't they brought back Alec Pierce at this point? Well, we just got news. Alec Pierce is returning to the Indianapolis Colts. Four years, $114 million. So came through right as we were recording here. So for anybody watching live, you're getting our instant re right now on Twitter. But we just talked about why this makes so much sense. He is the skeleton key that unlocks this offense. As I talked about, he got paid. We're going to see whether they are going to keep Mike Pittman or not. Like I said, they can save $25 million by releasing him. But right now, the Colts, you know, they're in a spot where they didn't really have. They had about half a million dollars of cap to work with, giving 114 million to Alec Pierce. I assume that they are going to move on from Mike Pittman, but we'll get news on that later today, I assume. But let's keep walking through some of these good landing spots. Next up, we're going to talk about the running back position in Seattle, the reigning super bowl champs here. They need to add somebody and it sounds like Kenneth Walker is as good as gone. Joey, my fear here is that this is just going to end up being a trap in fantasy because what happens when Zach Charbonnet returns mid season and immediately regains control of the backfield? I think that's my fear here, is that somebody's going to sign there. We're going to get excited about that player. They're going to start off really, really hot early in the year and then just be kind of worthless late in the season.
A
Yeah, before the injury, we started seeing the shift there in Seattle and the fact that they had Kenneth Walker, who was. I mean, he's the super bowl mvp. There was a very fantastic running back. They were still putting Charbonnet on the field. I think you and I both love Charbonnet coming out of ucla. I think this is his backfield. Once he returns, it's just going to take him a little while to return So I don't think we're going to see a big name come in here. Somebody that I think could, and somebody I'm going to talk probably a lot about as the show goes on is Rashad White. Being a Buccaneers fan, I watched Rashad White almost improve year by year. In his first two years, he could not own two tackles. He did, yeah, he did, yeah, yeah. In his first two seasons, he just could not break a tackle to save himself. So they stuck him on the outside, Baker Mayfield checked down to him and Rashad White found life. Well, then in the last year, he learned how to break tackles. I don't know what happened. You know, a good training facility over there in Tampa. I guess, like one Buccaneer away. He just got learned how to break tackles over there and now he's truly could be a third down back. You know, when Bucky Irvin missed time last year, they brought Rashad, Rashad White in and he succeeded quite well. I wouldn't be surprised if it was somebody of Rashad White's caliber and not a Travis ETN or a returning Ken Block walker.
B
Yeah, I don't think that they're going to spend that much because we've seen like this coaching staff. They played George Holani for over one third of the snaps in the NFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl. I think they trust the system much more than the running back, and that's why they're willing to let Kenneth Walker move out of here. So when I look at the potential, first of all, I love Rashad White. You know, I'm just going to corroborate everything you said. I tweeted about him the other day saying, like, why isn't this guy Getting more buzz? 27 years old, increased efficiency every single year he's been in the league. Pass blocker, pass catcher, very well rounded back, three down size. I can go on on. I like Rashad White a lot. I think he's going to expand a bit of money, though. And I think what the Seahawks might try to do here is just kind of moneyball this situation, knowing whoever we're bringing in is going to be here for a good time, not a long time. So I wonder if, like, maybe they can find Joe Mixon, like if he is willing to play or show that he's healthy, maybe he makes sense. Miles Sanders, Kareem Hunt, Alexander Madison. Because I think what they're looking for is a guy that can split the load with George Holani for the first half of the season before they give it back to Zach Charbonnet. So this will be an interesting one. That being said, we talk about, you know, this is a fantasy football show, of course, Joey, I think, you know, so much of what we do is trying to hit on those rookie running backs and the guys in new situations or the young guy coming back from injury. I think if you're taking that zero running back approach, if one of these boring veterans signs with Seattle, that's the great type of guy that you want to target in like the 12th round of your fantasy draft. So when you're taking your swings on, you know, the, the, the, the Catron Allens and the Mike Washingtons that might not pop until the second half of the season. If you can balance them with an Alexander Madison or a Kareem Hunt in the Seattle backfield, that'll be getting work for the first couple of months. I think that makes a lot of sense. So a guy that will definitely be paying close attention to is whoever lands in Seattle could end up being that key for zero running back builds.
A
Yeah, I love what you're saying there with the especially one in a draft strategy. Take that Miles Sanders or that veteran guy, that Alexander Madison. Because Charbonnet is going to fall in draft, in drafts this year, he's going to fall much further than where he should be going. And if you can get the guy that's going to start the season in the 10th round, the 11th round and still pick up Charbonnet, I don't know, the eighth or ninth if he falls there. Seattle's backfield is not a bad one to invest in to hit two picks on. We've seen historically like they produce. So from a draft strategy perspective, I love that grab both Seattle running backs in your drafts this year. So the next one that we're going
B
to talk about, hey man, it's never too early. We got, we got drafts going right now over on NFFC underdog drafters. Wherever you're playing, it is not too early to draft a fantasy football team. Last one we're going to talk about in the good tier, Joey, and then we're going to get into the great tier and the best case scenario tier. But we're going to talk about the Minnesota Vikings who just moved on from Aaron Jones. So right now they've got Jordan Mason there. But Jordan Mason just did not live up to the excitement that we had for him last off season. Even with Aaron Jones getting injured, he just never really put it together on a consistent basis. We'll assume that they're going to add some Sort of complementary running back here. So when I look at what Jordan Mason could do, I see Rashad White, who you just talked about, Kenneth Gainwell, Jeremy McNichols, a lot of these pass catching specialists. I think it makes sense to add a guy like that. Or do you think that this could be one of those teams that is sneakily involved in Travis etn, Kenneth Walker and some of the bigger names?
A
I mean it could be a bigger name going here. I, I see, I look at what the Vikings have going on and we're going to talk about them one more time today, I believe down here in a little while at an even better landing spot for a different position they need. So for me, I was mentioning Rashad White. I think he's the kind of running back you want to see go here because he needs to be a pass catching running back because Jordan Mason cannot do that at all. Rashad White's the kind of guy that can come in and he could win this job out if it were to be a three down back position. So if you like to gamble and Rashad White ends up there, he is somebody I could to end up seeing as a three down back. But we've got Kenneth Gainwell, you know, you mentioned him. That could be a possible landing spot here as well for him. Yeah, it's just they had to be a pass catcher because Jordan Mason cannot do that at all.
B
Well, Joey, you know, before we recorded a little peek behind the curtain for the viewers that are watching, we decided to scrap one of these situations that we were going to talk about which was the Atlanta wide receivers, just because we said, I don't know if there's an exciting name there. They don't have a lot of money in Cap. They just locked up Kyle. Pittsburgh, we got breaking news as well. Just coming to you non stop on today's show, the Atlanta Falcons did add a wide receiver, Joey Zacchaeus back with the Atlanta Falcons. So good thing we kind of glossed over that one. I think that he is a good fit when you've got Kyle Pitts and Drake London can both play deep downfield given Oz some of those short targets across the middle of the field. But to answer anybody's questions about his fantasy relevance, I'd say that there's very little fantasy relevance for Alamede Zakis in Atlanta.
A
You were real high on him last year, Chicago and he like, he kind of served if you need to fill in a spot a couple games, like it wasn't terrible. But yeah, that doesn't, that doesn't scratch the edge we're looking for.
B
It certainly does not. But hopefully some of these next spots that we talk about will. We are now moving on from the good landing spots to the great landing spots, Joey. And the first one that we're going to talk about here, wide receiver for the New England Patriots, Stefan Diggs. I don't think they've officially released him yet but they said they're going to be releasing him so theoretically released himself. Yeah. Really? In theory. Like if you just look at this like the New England Patriots, you've got Drake may a superstar young receiver. They don't have a wide receiver one. This is a good offense. Like it sounds like this should be the guy that we really want is like a good wide receiver to land as the wide receiver one for the New England Patriots. But the Patriots offense and Drake Bass specifically, they really like to spread the ball around. So Stefan Diggs, for all intents and purposes was the wide receiver one last year but struggled to find any consistency. Is there a wide receiver that you could see landing in New England that you think could actually be a fantasy wide receiver one or maybe even a wide receiver two?
A
I don't want to take your guy away from you, but Romeo Dobbs seems like the perfect fit. He's used to being in a timeshare situation at the wide receiver. I think he works really well in New England side. Just sidestep real quick. I imagine New England's pretty upset that Alex Pierce is not available because. Right. Seems that their profile.
B
Yep.
A
But no, I mean Dobbs has averaged six touchdowns the last three seasons. He's. He's a good all round wide receiver so you can kind of use them anywhere you want. And he handles about 85 to 100 targets per season and that's basically what Diggs is walking away from. So that's what Diggs had before. So he could slot right into that role and I think produced really well and I hate to take him away from you, but that was my perfect bid here for New England.
B
I think it makes a lot of sense too because he does a lot of that dirty work that is required in this Josh McDaniels offense. He could block, he could catch balls across the middle of the field. A reliable chain mover. I think for me, like as a a guy who's been touting Dobbs a lot over the last couple of years, I would like to see him in a situation that allows him to be a little bit more versatile where he can just kind of win in more ways because I do feel like this Patriots offense is very similar to the Green Bay off Green Bay offense where it's like you have your role, you're going to do your job and that's kind of it. I'd like to see Dobbs playing a little bit more of a versatile role, but it does make a lot of sense. I do wonder just again trying to look at the salary cap situation here. New England, they've got a decent amount of money to play with, about 40 million and they probably put some of that aside for Alec Pierce, which they won't be using on him now. So Romeo Dubs would make a lot of sense. But I do wonder if Nick Westbrook Akine is kind of the boring answer here. Just the ties to Mike Vrabel kind of fits the role that they need. They have a lot of underneath weapons right now. Matt Collins, you know he's a good field stretcher, but Nick Westbrook Akine can do that as well. So I wonder if that's what we're going to be looking at is just like a Nick Westbrook Kenne reunion with Mike Rabel and nobody really gets excited about it. But this is one that I think whoever signs here, I think people will get excited. But I feel like we just fall into the strap all the time. We just did with Stefan Diggs. You know, I remember Johnny Smith getting his $50 million. We've got to remember Hunter Henry is going to get his Kyle Williams DeMario Douglas Kayshawn Booty. Like they're going to spread this ball around a lot in Foxborough, so I think it is a great landing spot with the right guy. If it's just an anyday guy who signs here, I'm not going to get overly excited, but if they pay up for a player that I do like, I can talk myself into excitement between now and August. Next spot we want to talk about here, Joey, the quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals. And this was the one. When we ranked these landing spots, I think this was the one that we had the biggest ascension on. I think I had this as my third overall spot. You were a couple spots lower here, but man, we just saw Jacoby Brissette just last year. QB one week after QB one week. They've got Trey McBride, Marvin Harrison Jr. Michael Wilson, terrible defense. Do you think that we might be sleeping on this as a potentially elite landing spot for a quarterback?
A
I. I don't think we're sleeping on it. I mean, they've got a top three tight end end. I mean, we. I guess we are a little bit. Top three tight end, young wide receiver.
B
Whoa. I know you like Elijah Higgins, but top three tight end? I think you're getting a lot of yourself here.
A
Elijah Higgins, top three title. No, it's Train McBride, of course. Elijah Higgins, like might as well be if just sky's the limit for that guy. No, but they've got Marvin Harrison Jr. As well. A young wide receiver with pedigree that we know hall of Fame pedigree from his father that was fantastic in college that we just haven't seen unlocked yet. So we, we really want to see a great quarterback come in here and start to unlock him and really unlock this defense. But my fear is just the names that are out there, are they that much better than Jacoby Preset? Yeah, I mean, that's my big question. I think Malik Willis, if he lands here, that's the best case scenario at this point. I know we're going to talk about this later, but you know, which of these positions are going to be filled through the draft rather than free agency. And Arizona was kind of the one that popped up for me. I'm like, yeah, I could see them taking a quarterback and I think that
B
would make a lot of sense with them picking early in the draft. I mean, it would probably be a little too early for Ty Simpson, but desperation, like, you know, if they need to get a quarterback, they might look that route. And I hate myself for talking in, talking myself into this one, but Derek Carr in this offense, like, could you potentially get excited about Derek Carr as like a, a high end QB2 in fantasy, if he's throwing to Trey McBride and throw into to Marvin Harrison Jr. Michael Wilson, like I talked about that terrible defense that just puts them in these game scripts where they have to throw like I, I think that's the one landing spot of course Minnesota, which we'll talk about in a little bit. But like I could see myself getting kind of mildly maybe excited about Derek Carr in this offense
A
he might sneak into like by top 24 quarterbacks just because of who's around him there. I mean Michael Wilson, we didn't talk about Michael Wilson at all. I mean he had a fantastic, if you want to call it a breakout. I don't think that's, that's bad to call it that. What happened with them last year. I mean I, I would, you know, I like to draft two quarterbacks so I could see like if I landed Trevor Lawrence, like yeah, let me grab Derek Carr as my backup. But I don't know, but I don't know where the excitement is on the scale there. Like a four.
B
Yeah. And yeah, I think four out of 10, it's about as excited as I can get about Derek Carr. But the next fight we want to talk about here. The wide receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders. Now this is one that I, I can go so many different ways because on one hand we have seen the history of wide receiver ones with Clint Kubiak. Brandon Ayuk had his best season ever with Clint Kubiak. Justin Jefferson, he's a year two breakout came with Clint Kubiak. We saw Chris Olave and Rashid Shahid feasting in New Orleans. We saw Jackson Smith Najigba just did last year in Seattle. Clint Kubiak, his entire offense is predicated around getting that wide receiver one open in space where he can create on these crossing routes and make plays after the catch. Part of me wonders if that's just going to be Brock Bowers, that they're just going to say hey Brock Bowers, you are the new Jackson Smith najigba. You're getting 160 targets and you're going to be wildly efficient with them. The other kind of layer to this discussion about the potential wide receiver 1 in Las Vegas is that they are going to be drafting Fernando Mendoza. And we know historically rookies do struggle to support multiple pass catchers. JJ Zacharison has done some great studies on this. Of course we've seen like the one outlier is CJ Stroud when he had Nico Collins, Dalton Schultz and Tank Dell all giving us fantasy relevant weeks. So what do you think? What are your expectations here? Should we temper expectations for whatever and, and I will say almost assuredly we are going to see a wide receiver sign with Las Vegas. This team has more money to play with than anybody else. They've got $110 million to spend and wide receive wide receiver is a massive need for them. So I'd expect them to bring in a wide receiver. But how excited can we actually get about this wide receiver, Joey?
A
Well, I mean, I think you hit the nail on the head with Bowers, like and I love that situation for Mendoza because I love seeing a rookie quarterback that comes in that's going to be thrown to the wolves right away. Them having a solid tight end to lean on Brock Bowers is definitely that, I think. If you're looking at a wide receiver, what are they going to bring in? I kind of want a different route with this. I see a lot of potential in Jack Betch and Dante Thornton. I could see them bringing in a veteran like Debo Samuel, who was also a really good short area target for Mendoza to kind of work with them, mentor them a little bit. I would be shocked to see Debo end up there. I think that'd be a good fit. But there, this Vegas offense is going to be very invested in making Mendoza a superstar and their franchise quarterback. So they're going to put pieces around him that's going to best support him.
B
I do wonder how much with, with Tom Brady, you know, being a part of the front office, they're kind of having a say in some of the personnel usage. I wonder if, you know, you said Fernando Mendoza thrown to the Wolves. I, I can't help but wonder if they're going to bring in a veteran and, you know, just Tom Brady, hey, this is how it worked for me. This is obviously to work for other quarterbacks. Take that old school approach, let him sit, you know, kind of get that year of development underneath his belt again. You know, we just talked about Derek Carr. You know, maybe Derek Carr, a reunion in Las Vegas is what he needs. Maybe they bring in another veteran. But I'm not, not fully sure that we see Fernando Mendoza in a week one role. But again, we're talking about the wide receiver one here in Vegas. I, I think we're kind of beating around the bush, but I, I think it's Brock Bowers, like I don't care who they bring in. When I look at the available wide receivers out there, I like the call out with Debo Samuel. I think he would make a lot of sense. Rashid Shahid probably makes more sense than anybody else given the ties that he has to Clint Kubiak. But I don't know if there's anybody that can land in this offense that's available, aside from a trade for like an AJ Brown or something like that, I don't think there's a veteran wide receiver available that can come into Las Vegas and immediately get more targets than Brock Bowers. I think he's just going to get that treatment from Clint Kubiak before any wide receiver does.
A
Absolutely.
B
Last one we're going to talk about in this tier. Joey. Nope, I lied. We are into the final tier now. This is the elite tier. The best possible landing spots. The quarterback for the Miami Dolphins. We, we've already kind of talked about this a little bit. You know, we, we talked about a wide receiver in Miami. So let's kind of change the, the topic a little bit now. Let's just assume that Malik Willis was there because it does sound like it's all but a done deal at this point. How high can we rank Malik Willis in our offense? Throwing the ball on those slants, Jalen Waddle hitting Devon Achan in the flat, the rushing upside. It's really easy to see the ceiling case for Malik Willis in this offense. How high would you be willing to rank him in 2026?
A
So where I have him now and he's not even officially with the Dolphins and this might sound low, but I've got him at QB20 now. Let me finish. He's in my fourth tier of quarterbacks because I think this fourth tier of quarterbacks is fantastic this year. I'm talking alongside Baker Mayfield, Jared Goff and Jordan Love. So QB20 is not bad for me. That's in my fourth tier. There's a big glob of guys there. You know this Dolphins quarterback position could be very profitable fantasy. I think Malik Willis is the best case scenario to end up there and QB20 is the floor for him. Like I mentioned those other guys that goes as high as QB14 so he could be as high as that.
B
You know we're not getting into like the draft theory part of the off season yet. We'll do that a lot more in August as the the season gets closer. But last year we talked so much about how deep quarterback was and that like don't pay up for any of these back end QB1s. Anyone who paid up for Bonix and Baker Mayfield and those guys felt burned last year and there's just been such an influx of young talent coming into the league and now we see a lot of these veterans in good situations as well. So many guys with rushing upside that I think. Yeah, you say like QB20, that might sound a Little bit low, but you can make an argument that he could be as high as like QB8 as well. And I don't think that you're wrong because that whole kind of glob from like QB8 to like QB24 is just so tight in rankings here. So again, you know, there's still the, the free agency in the draft and much to discuss, but I think this is going to be another, another one of those years where fantasy managers who choose to wait on quarterback are just going to have it better than those who pay up for them. So a couple more of the best landing spots to talk about, Joey. And this was one of your highest. That was a little bit lower. This is again one of the few that we had some dissension on. But the running back for the Kansas City Chiefs. Now we've been wishcasting this for a long time. Like we just want a good running back in Kansas City with Patrick Mahomes and it just happened. So unless they sign ETN or Walker, do you think that we're going to see a back who could potentially emerge as a workhorse here or do you think that anybody else that gets in this situation is just going to end up in a committee like we've seen for the last 10 or so years?
A
Yeah, you bring up a good point of just like we need to forget what Reed did and early in his career with these big bulking, you know, running backs that ran, you know, all three downs and we need to look at it more of a committee. So if it's not Ken Walker, I think it's going to be one or two guys. Maybe the draft. I listen this draft class for the running backs is not getting touted. There's one guy that's getting touted very heavily. But through that combine and through, you know, some or shout out to our football guys, rookie guide, I've started getting excited about, you know, some of these other guys, price and whatnot. So you know, was it Adam Randall out of Clemson?
B
Like there's Adam Randall is the one. Oh my gosh. Adam Randall in an Andy Reid offense.
A
Chills.
B
Chills right now. Yeah.
A
So there are players that I think would fill it in well here. Rashad White, you know, you've got room of dubs. I got Rashad White today would fit in pretty well here. But I have a question for you, Dave. Do you think that CEH pick scared Andy Reid off from ever investing in a running back again?
B
Well, if you remember, that wasn't a ch or that wasn't a An Eddie Reed pick. That was a Mahomes pick. If you remember, he told Mahomes he could make that choice. And it was, it was a terrible choice at the time. Like I, I, I was ripping that one apart the second they made it. I think that was kind of foolish to let Mahomes make that pick. But I think you could be onto something there because that was terrible. And since then, you know, they've tried kind of putting this Frankenstein running back room together. We're like, we've got our goal line guy, we've got our pass catching guy, we've got our early down guy, we've got our change of pace guy. And I think we, we still have this mindset that like Andy Reid is just like Midas with running backs that he touches. But that was Brian Westbrook, LaShawn McCoy, Jamal Charles, early career Kareem Hunt. Kareem Hunt left Kansas City eight years ago and it has just been running backs by committee ever since. So I think maybe he can buck that trend if they end up, well, not maybe, like if they end up with Jeremiah Love, Travis Etna, Ken Walker, they buck that trend and they go back to Andy Reid leaning on a workhorse running back. But I don't know if anybody else really does that. I think Adam Randall, like we talked about it, would be a really fun player, but he can't handle 300 touches. Like they'd be using him on some creative Jerick McKinnon type looks. Rashad White, I think potentially could be a three down back. I think he's kind of the floor for me. Like I think Walker and ETN would assuredly be three down backs in this offense. I think if you look at Tyler LG or and Rashad White and kind of those tier two guys, they probably get lumped more into a committee. But that's my fear here is I think that we're going to see one of these, I don't want to say a lesser name but like, you know, one of those more middle of the pack free agents is going to sign here and everyone's going to say wheels up for that running back when the reality is he's just going to fall into a committee like every other running back has done in the last eight years in Kansas City. So that leads to the next one that I want to talk about. And Joey, maybe I'm crazy here. I think this is a better landing spot for a running back than Kansas City. Washington commanders, I think they have a, a big need for a running back right now and this is my top landing spot. I prefer this over Kansas City. I prefer this over the quarterback spots. This is a Dan Quinn offense, Jaden Daniels in the backfield. This feels like a spot that you can plug a lot of different free agent running backs into and they'd immediately be considered top 15 backs in running back. So, you know, we, we talk about Rashad White, the guy you've been talking about so much on this show. I think this makes more sense for any other running back out there. He's college teammates with, with Jalen Daniels. They played together in New Mexico State, so they've already got that familiarity in the backfield. To me, I think this makes so much sense to put Rashad White here. But who are some of the other potential guys that you think could end up working out in this backfield?
A
Yeah, real quick. I think last year, if you look at this Washington running back room, I think they kind of got forced into having to experiment the way they did with Eckler going down and. Daniel, go ahead.
B
I. I don't cut you off. We'll come back to this. Kenneth Walker is officially a Kansas City chief. So we just talked about it. Intends to sign with the Chiefs. Shout out to. Who is this? Yeti. Yeti. Sorry, YETI in the chat. Let us know here. And I looked it up. So Kenneth Walker officially with the Chiefs. Scrap everything I said about them potentially putting a guy in a committee. This was the guy that we said if Kenneth Walker, Travis ET end up here. This is a three down back. I don't, I don't see how you can look at Kenneth Walker as anything besides a top eight running back right now. In fantasy.
A
Not at all. I mean, he coming off the soup off the super bowl mvp. I mean, he's gonna have a ton of hype, but no, he's gonna live up to the hype. I like it a lot and I. Dave, I do think we're. I feel like we're two for two on the breaking news because with Alec Pierce, we said like, really? I think the Colts want to have him back. It makes the most sense that he'll be there. And then he was the first name we mentioned with Kansas City. We're doing great. We're doing great today. Dave.
B
The fun thing with this show, we're live streaming it too. So a lot of people are gonna be listening to this on podcast over the next couple of hours. Typically what we do if we were pre recording the show is we would just cut this out and then like, you know, go back, re Record those sections, patch it all together. But we're live streaming this one right now, so everybody listening, they're getting the unadultered audio as we are, you know, reacting to this live as it's coming through. But let's go back to the running back for the Kansas for the Washington Commanders. I talk about wanting Rashad White here, but Joey, what were your thoughts on this backfield?
A
Yeah, so there's a name we haven't really mentioned yet and I think he doesn't have a whole lot of mileage on him. Are we ready to have the Tyler Algiers conversation? Because he's a name you brought up and I think it makes a ton of sense there. He had over 135 carries and back to about seasons when the Falcons had Bijan Robinson still on the field. He is supremely talented. The only knock I have on Algier with this offense is he's not much of a pass catching back. Could he develop that? I'm not sure but I think it makes some sense for him to be here as well.
B
And I also, I wanted to check there was no overlap there. But I think like Dan Quinn being with the Falcons and Tyler Algier being with the Falcons, like it feels like there's some connection there. And also Tyler Algeria just feels like a Dan Quinn running back. Like I, I don't know what, like there's no connection that I can make here. It's just to me like Tyler Algier, he's just that hard nosed three down grinder that I think Dan Quinn wants. So I would love to see Rashad White here just because I think that would be one of the best case scenarios for his fantasy value, pairing him up with his college quarterback. That's what I would like to see. But this is one that you know, Kenneth Walker off the the map now but Travis Etn, like if he potentially signs there. There are a lot of running backs that I could talk myself into because like we saw Jacori Crosby Merritt, not a very good running back, still producing last year. We saw Chris Rodriguez Jr. When he got the opportunity producing last year, Austin Eckler at the end of the 2025 season and to start last year, still productive. When you have a rushing threat like Jaden Daniels, it just opens so many opportunities for the running backs. So this is one that I'm and can't wait to see who lands there. But Joey, the last one we're going to talk about the creme de la creme, the best landing spot for any potential free Agent here, and I wonder how many people would have guessed this one, but Minnesota Vikings quarterback, this one. You know, our Matt Patanti isn't crazy about the offensive line, but they've got some good pieces there. So, you know, an average to above average offensive line. But really it's Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, TJ Hawkinson, and of course Kevin o' Connell hosting the school of Learning how to Play Quarterback. Good. It's open for enrollment right now. So Joey, what quarterback do you think would benefit most from a year with Kevin o'? Connell?
A
I mean, we've, we've seen the name most linked to it and, and that's Kyler Murray. You know, Arizona's moved on from him.
B
I'm smirking right now because Frank in the chat two seconds before that came out of your lips said give me Kyler to the Vikings or give me death.
A
And I, and I think that's what it is. We all seen the potential in Kyler and there were some knocks on him for either on the field or off the field. Whatever you want to get into with Kyler, it would just be good to see him actually come to fruition. I think any team that's got Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison as your two top pass catchers, that's a dream landing spot for any quarterback. We saw Sam Darnold, you know, excel in this offense to great degrees two years ago. You know, last year it was just a mix of bag of what we got. Now I have a question for you. Are the Vikings in a position to use that, what is it, the 18th overall pick to take a quarterback or are they gonna give JJ McCarthy one more year to see if they can develop them?
B
Yeah, you know, some cost fallacy is a very real thing and I think that investing, I always forget, I always get flip flopped. I believe he was the, the 10th overall pick, right? Either 10th or 12th. But they invested a premium draft pick in J.J. mcCarthy. They already missed out on the entire rookie season with a knee injury. My guess is that they'd want to at least like sit him on the bench for a year and see if they could reclaim what they have with him after this season. But I think just the way the stars are aligning right now with like Kyler Murray needing a good landing spot. Kevin, Kevin o' Connell being able to fix some of these highly drafted quarterbacks with pedigree. And then of course like, like the Minnesota Vikings, they don't have a ton in salary cap. So with the Cardinals paying Kyler Murray's salary this year, them Getting to be able to bring him in on a vet minimum contract. It's like they kind of double down on, like, the. The two things that you want with the quarterback. Either the quarterback on a rookie deal or their quarterback quarterback on a vet minimum contract. And they have one of each. So I think, you know, McCarthy also being a young, scrambling type of quarterback, I think learning from Kyler Murray could help him. So to me, it just makes sense for Kevin o', Connell, makes sense for the Vikings, makes sense for Kyler, makes sense for JJ I don't think they'll use a first round pick on a quarterback this year because I think they still would like to see what they have after this year if they can fix J.J. mcCarthy. So, you know, crazier things have happened. We didn't think they were going to take J.J. mcCarthy. We didn't think the Broncos were going to take Bo Nix. You know, crazy things happen in the draft every single year, but I would be shocked if they use that pick 18 on a quarterback this year. Year.
A
I would be, too. I just, I had to ask it because, I mean, the question was there last year. And then we saw. I mean, JJ had flashes, though. That was. The thing is, we can see it, but it just. You can't string enough good performances together to make it like, okay, let's put this team on his back. And I don't know, like, that it gets to a point where your opportunities aren't out there, where you just can't be trusted anymore. So.
B
Well, Joey, we. We talked about the 14 landing spots that we're excited about. Two of the 14 were filled by the expectations we had during the show. So that's fun to see. It is a crazy, crazy week. We see this every year where I feel like, you know, free agency used to last for, like, weeks. Like, we would just slowly kind of see these trickling in. Now, as soon as legal tampering opens, we get all of these big names. We're going to see even more coming through on Wednesday. So right now, remember, you know, nothing is officially official at this point. The Colts are because they are allowed to make moves on guys that are currently under contract. Kenneth Walker will officially sign in a couple of days. Just all the. All the tampering right now is. Is legal and. And, you know, as it should be. But Joey, anything else that you'll be paying attention to this week? Some. Some spots that you think maybe, you know, these landing spots that we were looking at today saying, like, I don't think anybody's gonna sign There they might just address that in the draft or anything else that you're gonna be paying attention to as we as we head into this week.
A
Yeah. The two teams that I think will probably hit the draft to fill their holes would be New Orleans. If it's not ETN. 8th overall. Jeremiah Love doesn't sound bad to me. That sounds like a good fit. He looks fantastic, you know, in college in the combine. So yeah, Love's got a lot of buzz going in. I can see him going inside the first 10 picks. And then Arizona at quarterback Ty Simpson. I think this draft class for this quarterbacks is not extremely highly touted. I could see Ty Simpson going there to Arizona as their next quarterback.
B
Yeah. And looking at the drafts, I mean Jeremiah Love, it really is going to be interesting to see where he goes because like Arizona at 3, I don't know if it's that crazy. Like Trey Benson has not answered any questions. I know they brought James Connor back on a one year deal. They restructured his deal. But Arizona, I mean Even Tennessee at 4, Tony Pollard's as good as gone. They don't trust Tajie Spears with a full workload. Washington at 7 would I think be the ideal landing spot. And then New Orleans at 8. Those could all end up working out, but going to be fun. Just about a month and a half away until the NFL draft is officially here.
