I mean, if you're a Bears fan, you're thinking Forward Progress.
B
Come on. Forward Progress A Chicago Bears podcast with Dan Bernstein and Matt Abetic Cola on 312Sports.
A
We give you forward progress on 31 2Sports, making sure you know everything you need to know about the Chicago Bears and the NFL and anything else we damn well think of. Hello Matabaticola Hello. I've got a bunch of stuff here because there are. There's all sorts of rankings we've got. We get names and numbers and rankings and people with opinions about your Chicago Bears.
B
Yeah, but there's a lot of a lot of fun stuff here for us today to get into. As as well, I'm not sure where I want to start. I'm so excited about this Bears news.
A
Which news about the training camp dates?
B
No, the most important thing that's happened today.
A
The most important thing that's happening. Is it a ranking of something?
B
No, Dan, it's Holiday Touchdown. What is Bears Love Story?
A
Holiday Touchdown. A Bears love story?
B
Where would I Chicago Bears are are teaming up with the Hallmark Channel and the NFL for a new Holiday Movie.
A
No, they aren't.
B
Holiday Touchdown A Bears Love Story. The film is part of the network's upcoming Countdown to Christmas programming and will feature cameos from team coaches and players. So far it's been confirmed. I've seen the video. Dan. Ben Johnson and Colston Loveland fall in love cameo. No, no, they don't fall in love.
A
Why not?
B
It's not Ben Johnson and Colson Love Story. They have significant others.
A
But that's true. I've actually, I actually met Colston Loveland's girlfriend. She is lovely. A lot lovelier than Ben Johnson.
B
This is great. So Holiday Touchdown A Bears Love Story. It's the third NFL themed Hallmark movie following previous hits centered around the Chiefs and the Bills. Filming for the movie is slated to take place in and around Chicago. Which is. Which is good because it was.
A
Andy Reid falls in love with a Costco chicken pot pie and a giant hoagie. He actually drew a smiley face on it like Wilson the volleyball.
B
It's set to premiere on the Hallmark channel later this year during the 17th annual Countdown to Christmas event. Hallmark recently expanded its country music theme programming with the original TV movie. So they're, they're doing like.
A
Wait, it's like they're playing country music?
B
No, no, they're, they're, they, they're going off into the country music world as well with their Hallmark love stories. And so the, so like, the country music is one avenue at the NFL and football is another avenue of what they're creating. Yeah. So they're trying to capitalize on the popularity of country music. And I think Hallmark just realized that football is popular, so we should take advantage of that.
A
Maybe also among their target audience of middle America.
B
Yeah.
A
Maybe middle brow middle America. Here is football, along with cliched love stories.
B
So now you know you've made it, man. When, when you're the, the center point. The, the theme around a Hallmark love story. Your Chicago Bears are not a center.
A
They're just. It's going to be cameos. Right.
B
But it's based in Chicago. It's a Chicago movie. It's around the Bears.
A
That means there's going to be pandering, references to food.
B
Yeah. There'll be deeply pizza and hot dogs. They're going to break. They're going to break up. Because she puts ketchup.
A
I was just going to say, at some point, Colston Loveland has to go diving in.
B
No.
A
To prevent somebody from putting ketchup on a hot dog. Like his hand slides right over as the, the ketchup Hits his hand. Oh, it burns.
B
And then he falls to the ground and he's all covered in ketchup. And Ben Johnson walks in and thinks he was injured and he's all bloody.
A
What happened? What happened? Are you okay? It's all right, coach. It's just ketchup. I had to say.
B
Yeah, she tried to put ketchup on her hot dog. Yes. Yeah, she's like. She's a girl from the country moved to the big city for a job and falls in love with a die hard Bears fan and they break up because she puts ketchup on the hot dog. And. And then Colson Loveland helps get them back together because of a game winning touchdown.
A
She is not properly angry about Logan Jones being given number 54. We are breaking up. You are supposed to be up in
B
arms, but I can't wait. So. Yeah. So holiday touchdown. A Bears love story on the Hallmark Channel. Your Bears have made it, man.
A
It can't just be like the city of Chicago and Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson.
B
No, because it's got to be NFL theme because somebody.
A
That's what I'm saying.
B
Yeah, but they learned though that the NFL is so popular that they need to take advantage of it.
A
Well, I know, but what I'm.
B
The popularity may die off. You never know.
A
I don't know. Guys, we gotta strike while the iron's hot on this whole NFL popularity thing, right?
B
Have you seen super bowl numbers? They're huge. They're huge.
A
But we don't know how long it's going to last, so you better get while the getting's good.
B
Yeah, some executive is like, well, how many Super Bowls have they had so far? I don't know, 60 some. Hey, well, might be our time to jump in on this.
A
I don't speak Roman. I don't know. I can't determine. Bring in the experts who speak Roman. I don't know, a bunch of inscrutable symbols here.
B
So, yeah, I'm very excited about that. That's. That's really exciting.
A
Okay, well, is it going to somehow involve their Hammond? Because I think. I think really what you could do is you could have zombies or like these toxic Avengers that emerge from the swamp they come out of Lost Marsh golf course and.
B
Or maybe the girl in the movie moves from Hammond to Chicago.
A
No, just. Just work with me on this. They come out from under the slag heap and under the human waste and Ben Johnson and Colston Loveland have to fight them off. It's really like a zombie apocalypse Christmas thriller.
B
As long as they get to Kevin Warren before they're, they're fended off.
A
Oh, that's what happens. Like all of the, the, the sludge people actually consume Kevin Warren. Oh, they make him one of them. It's like, no, no.
B
So the scene closes in on the zombies jumping on him. They get him, they bring him to the ground. And then they cut to Kevin Warren having a hot dog because the zombies.
A
No, he holds up his Bible.
B
No, the zombies didn't want him. They're like, no, go ahead, you go back.
A
No, he hold at the end, like the, the. The swamp creatures are coming out of Lost Marsh golf course and like out of the sand trap.
B
And then they're.
A
And they attack Kevin Ward. But the end, he has the all powerful Bible.
B
So he turns them away with his Bible.
A
Yes, he turns away. Then the force of God pushes everybody back. And then the Illinois legislature just kind of stands there and goes.
B
And then Kevin spins around, does a 180, and then he performs the ceremony for the couple who fell in love.
A
And then he takes another job.
B
The Bears don't have a stadium.
A
The Bears go back to Soldier Field
B
and the woman goes back to Hammond. Or.
A
No, no, the end of retail.
B
It works at a bank. The end of the movie is they. They jump ahead 20 years and they look at this couple. They're married for 20 years. They have kids. They're going to a Bears game where they first met and that game. So 20 years from now, it's 2046. And where's that game being played, Soldier? Soldier Field on the lakefront.
A
Of course.
B
That's how the movie ends.
A
That's good. I like it. Deal done. Scene done.
B
Okay, we'll sell that then.

Start your free trial@shopify.com There is a ranking, though. There is a list. I know you love lists.
A
Hey, man, I don't know how to feel about anything unless somebody else puts them in order for me.
C
Well, you have to.
A
That tells me what my opinions should be.
B
All right, so here's what ESPN did with Bill Barnwell. He ranked wide receivers, tight ends, and running backs from every team as like, in general.
A
As a collective.
B
As a collective.
A
So anybody who touches the football.
B
Hang on, hang on, hang on. Here's how he does it. All right, so here's the criteria. Because I know you always ask. So before you can Bernstein it, here's the criteria.
A
Too late.
B
He looks at the 2026 on field performances only. That's where that starts. That's one. So this is an overall history of these players. Looks at last year. Only injury history plays a part into it. Wide receivers, they, they bring the most weight about in the, in his opinions. So wide receivers way more than tight ends and running backs. And the fourth thing, he looks at the top five contributors to the offense. So he's not looking at like a full wide receiver room or a full tight end room or a full running back room with some potential guys that contributed. Only the top guys. Here's his, here's his top 10. The top 10 goes New England Patriots at 10, the Eagles at 9, the Vikings at 8, Dallas at 7, Arizona's 5, San Francisco's 4.
A
Wait, who's 6?
B
Wait, 10, 9, 8, 7. So sorry. Arizona 6. Okay. San Francisco is 5, Atlanta is 4, Cincinnati 3, the Rams 2, and Detroit is 1. Now obviously looking at tight ends, wide receivers, running backs, this list can get, you know, he puts this list out in, in this order. This is without adding the quarterbacks to the room, because if you add quarterbacks, I mean, you're dropping Arizona, you're, you're, you're dropping Atlanta, you're dropping Minnesota from the top 10. But just looking at wide receivers, tight ends and running backs, that's his order. I looked at it only because I thought maybe the Bears might crack the top 10.
A
Well, so it's running backs that probably hold it back.
B
Yeah. So. And where it is it? The Bear, he had the Bears at 15, so the Bears at 15. And he looked at. And it was running backs. And what he looked at was he didn't want to give DeAndre Swift as much credit for his performance. He thought that the credit went more to the offensive line and Ben Johnson and not so much to the veteran running back. But he also, he kind of, it looked the way he worded out, too, that he kind of favored Kyle McNun guy's performance over DeAndre Swift. That DeAndre Swift is more based on the offensive line and not his own ability.
A
Why?
B
I don't know.
A
I think DeAndre Swift did much more on his own with his own speed,
B
and I thought he had a great.
A
Than Kyle menungai did.
B
Yeah, it might, might be a case of not seeing all of the games. Yeah. Plays. Yes. In that regard, I, I get where he says that a lot of the success comes from the offensive line and what Ben Johnson did with it. I see that after the first couple weeks, obviously. But to, to kind of limit his. The credit to his success was kind of, again, a case of not seeing it all play out. Yeah. I just thought it was interesting, but
A
I'm not sure I agree with him on that. But.
B
Okay. Yeah, but, but also I thought it was interesting because again, you, I mean, you take quarterbacks out of it and this is what you can get now. You know, I get, I get Minnesota being there and Arizona being there, Atlanta being there. But, man, you, you do that, you do this exercise again and you, you mix quarterbacks into it. I think there's three teams that drop out of that top 10.
A
That's really interesting. And that's, I mean, look, it's something to do at this time of year.
B
That's. Dude, that's what, 95% of this.
A
I know it is.
B
I mean, if someone's not getting arrested, then you're trying to find content.
A
Well, what did I, what did I say yesterday? I said, as long as it's not
B
a Bear it's fine.
A
I said it yesterday. I said, usually right around this time, you get like a murder or something that. That starts stealing NFL headlines. And not long after I said that, what story broke?
B
The dude from the Lions.
A
Have you read the details of this? Yes.
B
What's his first name? I know his last name is Arnold. I can't remember.
A
What's his name? Terry and Arnold.
B
Yeah. Terry and Arnold. Yes, this is. I did read it.
A
This is some bad.
B
Yeah.
A
Terry and Arnold, Lions cornerback, is facing multiple felony charges after he was arrested yesterday in Tampa in connection with a robbery and kidnapping in February. This is from espn. Tampa police previously arrested six other individuals involved in a targeted armed robbery that took place shortly after midnight February 4, during which three men were pistol whipped, held at gunpoint and robbed, according to police. Police say Tarrion Arnold was the primary conspirator. He is accused of coordinating and directing the co defendants to lure three men to an apartment where the assault occurred. Arnold turned himself in, was taken into custody in Hillsborough County. He faces four counts of kidnapping, four counts of armed robbery, which carry a potential sentence of life in prison. He. He's scheduled to appear in court today. They filed a pretrial motion to keep him in jail until trial. The incident began after personal property belonging to Arnold and others was stolen February 1st from an Airbnb that Arnold rented in Largo, Florida, and periodically stayed at with the six co defendants, who are Ariana Del Valle, Jasmine Randazzo, Lindell Hudson, Kristen Williams, Bo Kai Hilton, and Freddie Lee Hughes III. They reported property loss totaling more than $250,000. What are you keeping in your Airbnb? And Arnold suspected two of the three victims in the kidnapping were responsible for the robbery, but investigators later determined they were not involved. So they got the wrong people.
B
Yeah, that's a. That's a.
A
This is. Yeah. The state's Attorney's office accused Arnold of orchestrating the kidnapping. And ro just hours after reporting the missing items to the Largo Police Department, they located a group chat in which Arnold and Hilton gave directions to Del Valle, Williams and Hudson during the assault at the part at the apartment. Two of the co defendants pleaded guilty, other four being held without bond. So this is. This is pretty amazing.
B
You.
A
Even if somebody steals something from you and you then report it to the police, as you should do, you can't then turn around and decide, well, we're going to go kidnap him and pistol whip him and try to get our stuff back. This is what they got OJ On.
B
Yeah, I was gonna say this is OJ Stuff.
A
This is exactly what they fought. What finally took OJ down was apparently him kidnapping people and attacking them, invading their. Their apartment or whatever it was for what he believed was stealing his stuff. So we'll follow it. At least we got that. There's. Did you also see the Caleb Williams News, which something we've been following.
B
Wait, real quick. On Arnold thing, how many. How many counts? What are the charges? I thought there was like seven or eight, right?
A
There are four counts of kidnapping, four counts of armed robbery.
B
Oh, man, that's a lot of time, dude. Oh, that's.
A
That's a. The minimum he's gonna get is a lot of time.
B
Yes, yes. That's what the judge will say. Yeah, a lot of time, dude.
A
Whatever it is, it's a lot. So go in there for a while.
B
All right.
A
Did you see it?
C
No.
B
Well, it depends which one. There's a bunch.
A
He has. He has lost his attempt to trademark the word.

A
Yeah. The US Patented trademark office has refused his application for Iceman. It is not due to an application for the same word by George Gervin or the trademark possessed by Chuck Liddell. Instead, the Patent Office saw too much similarity and a likelihood of confusion in a trademark filed in 1988 by Kilmer by Lacrosse Footwear for insulated boots.
B
Huh?
A
It's an Oregon based footwear company, owns the trademark Iceman for the name of one of its boots and boot liners. Caleb Williams had applied for trademarks in multiple categories, including clothing, and that allowed the U.S. patent Office to offer the broad refusal to his trademark application.
B
Yeah, that makes sense, though, because I would confuse Caleb Williams Iceman with a boot more than I would with George Gervin. Yeah, yeah, that makes sense.
A
They made the connection between the other goods in his application, even though they're insulated boots. And Caleb is claiming shirts and hats and pants, that those are related goods.
B
Yeah, because when I watch him play, I think of boots.
A
An initial refusal is not unusual. 63.5% of recent initial trademark applications have been turned down. So there's still work that they can do. And his trademark application of an Iceman logo remains under initial review, and Williams can't appeal this ruling.
B
All right, well, good luck to him.
A
That's the latest on the Iceman controversy.
B
All right, I have some more information, some more things, some more stuff, some more comments from our guy, Todd Monkin.
A
Yes. How's his hair?
B
We're tracking Todd. We're tracking Todd Daly to see if he says anything.
A
Not Todd Daly, Todd Monken. Yeah.
B
But every day, though, we're checking in on him to make sure that he. If there's anything he said or anything he's done. So here's. He sat down with the Baltimore son and he gave a pretty lengthy interview. And he says, well, it's been six months since. Since the Ravens fired Harbaugh, obviously. Then Todd Monkin goes, and Todd Monkin then lands the job in Cleveland as the head coach. And he says it tells you how fickle just in general life is from the year before. If you had told me that, we'd have been fired after the year we had. Offensively, he says, I'll give it this. Coaches, for the most part, the players never quit. So he has some interesting things to say about some players, but he doesn't name players. But he talks about the players a few times. Okay. He says, we had no idea we'd still have a chance. Talking about how the season was going with injuries and then with Lamar Jackson going out and Tyler Huntley coming in to. To start for. For the Ravens and for them to come out and play their ass off. Play physical hell. Snoop. That's the nickname for. For Huntley. Snoop saved our season twice. He saved our season against the Bears when we were 1 and 5. He saved our season against Green Bay, and that's a real credit for him for a guy that wasn't even with us at the start of the season. But ultimately, everything has a shelf life. I can say this. The coaching staff and our preparation never changed. We worked our balls off. I can't say that about everybody. So I'll just say that ultimately, it was time. It was time.
A
Wait, is he calling his own players lazy?
B
It's the second time in this interview he calls players out for not being prepared.
A
Well, you got to be careful with some of this stuff, man. Telling you, he doesn't. He didn't care.
B
I know. He doesn't seem like he's lost.
A
We worked hard, job. Yeah, but it's not just working hard. You also have to be good, right?
B
So then he talks about the text message he received from Lamar Jackson, who congratulated him on the Cleveland job. His reply then I said, go fuck yourself. We're gonna blitz you every third down.
A
No, he didn't.
B
Yes, he did.
A
He didn't say, go fuck yourself, did he?
B
Said, go f yourself. Oh, yes. Go fuck yourself. We're gonna blitz you every third down.
A
My bad.
B
Yeah, so. Oh, I got a text here. Oh, Lamar text. Congratulations on the Cleveland job. All right. Go fuck yourself. We're gonna. We're gonna blitz you every third down.
A
Oh, that's great.
B
Yeah, that's our guy, Todd Monkin.
A
And first and second.
B
I really hope that he lasts more than one year.
A
Well, I don't think it's gonna happen. I just think you gotta enjoy him while you can.
B
Well, that's definitely one.
A
I think it's like Hallmark is doing with this whole NFL popularity thing.
B
Yeah. Before it dies away, make sure you
A
get the most of it.
B
So in the NFL's NFL.com's top 100 players.
A
Oh, where are we? We've got to be into the top 20 by now.
B
No, no, no. We're at number 96 and 95. Number 96 is New Orleans running back Travis Aichen.
A
Never heard of him.
B
Yeah, you have etn.
A
Oh, Travis Etienne.
B
No, but it's hn.
A
Oh, Travis Hn.
B
Yeah, he. He. He corrected a pool of media about the pronunciation of his name, so it's been mispronounced for years. And. And the actual pronunciation, Hn goes.
A
There's a Devon Hn.
B
His Louisiana Creole roots. And so in college, people would. Would. Would mispronounce his name and they would say Etienne. And so he just went with it because he was tired of correcting people. And so he met with. And this was before the season ended. He talked about it and said, this is how my name is actually pronounced, and this is how I want it pronounced, because that's how it's actually pronounced. So. Yeah, Travis Hn.
A
Okay.
C
Yeah.
A
Wouldn't that be Cajun and not Creole?
B
I'm just reading what the story said, man.
A
French is Cajun and Spanish, and he's
B
from Jennings, Louisiana, I want to say. And it talked about his Creole background.
A
Okay. Yeah. I always thought that the French names were Acadian or Cajun.
B
So he is number 96, however you want to pronounce his last name. And number 95 is Demario Davis, outside linebacker for the jets, which you probably never heard of.
A
Or did you not heard of demario Davis?
B
Well, I don't know. I don't know how well you follow the. The Jets.
A
I know him well. And by the way.
B
Yeah.
A
The Creoles are colonial Louisianans during the periods of French and Spanish rule before it became a part of the United States. Traditional use of French, Spanish, and Creole languages. Okay, so, yes, there is French Creole, but it was used by French Creoles to distinguish people born in Louisiana from those born elsewhere. So that's different.
B
Travis HN get it right, mister.
A
Cajuns have been historically known as Creoles, but some Louisianans identify exclusively as either Cajun or Creole. Okay, I'm confused now.
B
Well, don't be confused. Just say his last name how he wants you to.
A
Travis Hn.
B
Yeah.
A
You know what I wonder? Huh? I wonder if the other guy. A C, H A N, E. Is that Devin Achan who was on the Dolphins? Okay, I wonder if that is a phonetic spelling of the same name. Where's. Where's he from? Because that would be. That would.
B
Yeah.
A
Devon or Devon Hn. Here he is.
B
And how does he spell it?
A
He's from Missouri City, Texas. Okay.
B
That's not Louisiana.
A
No, he is.
B
How does he spell his last name?
A
A C, H a N, E. Pronounced Hn. Yeah, I want. Maybe they're related and they don't even know it.
B
Yeah, possibly.
A
Okay, just checking. I just find that interesting. All right, are there any. Any other name updates that we've been mispronouncing this entire time?
B
Not that I'm aware of. Except Game Changer can't say my last
A
name correctly, which is neither can Siri.
B
Yeah, Siri and Game Changer.
A
Siri always calls you Matt Abatakala.
B
Yep. That's what game changer does, too. Abatacola. One last thing.
A
Batting.
B
Yes. One last thing that I have is. Oh, oh, no, it's the count. I always do the count. I love the count. Yes. I love listening to it. I'm two zero.
A
Two wonderful balls outside the strike zone.

to go, where's the Hammond stadium? Everything around smells like farts day.
B
That'll be next. Next year.
A
Are they doing that? Oh, and then.
B
Well, no, that'll be in eight years when they, when they start building the stadium there in Hammond. Okay. No, that's not going to be. I mean, they're going to end up in Soldier Field. All this time that we spent and they're going to just end up in Soldier Field. I know they're going to extend that lease and just stay in the city.
A
Well, we'll see because they're about to push the timetable now when they get some idea of, you know. Well, we're just going to keep sitting around until other people do what we want. Well, why don't you just go to Hammond? We grow. We are where we will. Don't you worry. We're headed there.
B
Yeah, okay, good.
A
Please do.
B
Maybe Kevin can run for mayor there. That'll be, that'll be.
A
Well, they have a mayor.
B
Well, when he gets. When he's up for election, maybe he can run for it.
A
He's waiting. They're coming. They're coming right down. Right down. 394. Wherever they. Here they come anytime now. They're waiting for them. And then everybody's gonna pay their brand new taxes.
B
Yeah, good luck with that.
A
Right. They're kind of mentioning. Oh, by the way, all you people that live. I don't know.
B
Tax has gone up. Oh, remember the bears moved here.
A
It's like the Simpsons. Remember the actual bear showed up. Get rid of the bear. That's terrorizing Springfield. Well, politicians do something. They made fun of this whole thing. Politicians, please take care of the bear. Okay, we will take care of the bear.
B
And they do.
A
And then their tax bills are. Bear tax. What's that? They literally open their mailbox and there's a line item that says bear tax.
B
Well, get ready for it because it's coming Porter County. But the one thing, you're not going to feel it until you really.
A
If they were to tax cigarettes and like gas station video gaming and video poker, you want to get people there up in arms. You really want to cause a freak out if they, if they start to do that. If all of a sudden they add this on top of a cigarette tax.
B
So cigarettes and video game slot machines at, at you, you will have stations uprising. You will have a. Right there.
A
Then you will have a public uprising. If they were to do that. So they won't. I don't think they'll touch that because then you're talking like core constituency stuff right there. You're talking hitting people where they live so they're going to stay away from. It would be my prediction. That just cuts, cuts a little too close to the bone right there.
B
Yeah. You're gonna make some people angry with that. What's he trying to say? Exactly what he's trying to say. Yes, you got it. That's Dan Bernstein and I'm Vaticola. Episode: Chicago Bears WRs, TEs, and RBs ranked / Hallmark Love Story
Hosts: Dan Bernstein & Matt Abbatacola
Release Date: June 25, 2026
This episode combines classic off-season banter—with a healthy dose of sharp wit from Dan and Matt—on two fronts: the breaking news that the Chicago Bears are being featured in a Hallmark holiday movie and an in-depth reaction to ESPN’s new rankings of NFL teams’ wide receivers, tight ends, and running backs. The hosts also touch on training camp updates, trademark drama involving Caleb Williams, and NFL crime news, all peppered with sideways humor and Bears-centric skepticism.
