It's a world of artificial intelligence, of limited character tweets, of mini clips on TikTok. My name's Mishke, and the Mishke Podcast offers something wholly different. The lost art of simple human storytelling. Whether humorous tales, absurd narratives, or real drama, telling stories is my stock in trade. So escape to the very human Mishke Podcast, wherever you get your podcasts. I mean, if you're a Bears fan, you're thinking, forward Progress. Come on.
B
Forward Progress, a Chicago Bears podcast with Dan Bernstein and Matt Abeticola on 312Sports.
A
We give you forward progress on three 1, 2, sports talk bears and NFL. And there have been a couple of bits of news since we just posted DBU regarding the Bears and this stadium disaster, this absolute clusterfuck of a Kevin Warren effort here.
B
I'm proud of you.
A
With all that was involved.
B
You didn't talk.
A
I know.
B
He did good.
A
I didn't let you sucker me today. I didn't. I.
B
For a Monday. You did good. I know.
A
I know. Because usually this is when I forget. But, no, I didn't let you because I saw you were all prepared. I don't know. I'm good. Maybe at home, I'm more not, like, as aware of you because when. When I. When you're.
B
Yeah. Yeah. If I'm. If I'm not physically in front of you. Yeah, you are staring right at me, waiting. You were, like, squeezing your mouth shut, too. I'm like, say something. I was baiting you.
A
I know you were.
B
You didn't. You didn't buy any of it.
A
I know.
B
All right, so, yeah, major, major cluster fuck. First.
A
First of all, Jim Tenaglia, the mayor of Arlington Heights.
B
Yeah.
A
Apparently says, look, we worked years on negotiating this pilot bill. We're not creating an authority that whatever that was, that they tried to get through 11th hour through that the Senate passed, that the House didn't take up. They're not interested. I also saw a post that says that per the letter of the arrangement, any municipality of 70,000 or more that is entirely inside Cook county is eligible to create a sports authority of some
B
kind, which they are not.
A
Arlington Heights is in Lake county. Partly. That would mean that they'd need a special easement to even be eligible for this, if they even wanted to do it. So congratulations, Kevin Warren, you have worked the Chicago Bears. You have spent all these millions and all these years getting them back to square one, accomplishing nothing. Now, if they fire Warren and George McCaskey wants to try to say, hey, sorry, I screwed up, that this guy. And let me also say something else, cuz I've been, My phone has been blowing up and I've been talking to a lot of people today and there's a lot of things that I've been hearing for a long time that I've told you about forever, about just how badly Kevin Warren was handling this and what people were saying about his stewardship of this particular project. He's had people advising him about politics, about how to really do that, whether it's his own advisors that he's hired, whether it's comms people, lobbyists. He's also ignored a lot of advice. He's ignored it.
B
So he comes in from the outside, gets help and guidance on what to do, who to talk to, where to be, where to go.
A
The interplay between city politics, state politics.
B
So all the lobbyists that he's hired that he's paying to give him advice and guidance, he's been doing what?
A
Not just ignoring them. And not just the lobbyists. I'm talking about communications people on how to shape a message, when to say certain things and what to say when you. What not to say about shovels in the ground and cranes in the air and all that. And that's also been ignored. So it hasn't been. There's. They've tried to say, hey, probably don't want to go that route. But no, he's always known better. It's always been about him, it's always been about selling the monorail. And this is a case where it does appear. And there also seems to be a weird narrative out there where everything is devolving into, see, this is blue. No, this is what politicians are supposed to look out for taxpayers. It's not the job of government to give money to billionaires to build a stadium.
B
Right?
A
So I love the fact that it's not easy for somebody to just snap their fingers and get public money to build a stadium. I don't want that. I've never wanted that for anybody. I don't want Indiana to give away their money so they don't have roads or schools or anything else there. Everything else, it's falling apart. In some of these other states, these quote unquote big business friendly states that aren't friendly to the actual people they're supposed to be governing. Especially the neediest people. Especially the neediest people.
B
Right. We were never advocating for the state to do that for the bears, but
A
there was a way to do it. There were signs that were all along the road saying if we do this. And if we do this, and this can be this. And you want infrastructure, of course. If you want to pay for this and you need improved roads and stoplights and exit ramps and extensions and all that, well, we're willing to do that for you. And yet they never did. George has to take over. He won't. He's just too. He's. He's. He just never would do it. If this is going to get resurrected, it's got to be George. It's got to be George actually talking to the people involved, saying, I'm the owner of the Bears. I'm representing the Bears. Nobody else is representing the Bears. How do we restart Pilot? You heard the mayor of Arlington Heights really despondent over how much work they put in on the payment in lieu of taxes bill. That was gonna help the White Sox, too. And now you fucked them over, too. If you're a Sox fan, you should be really pissed today at Kevin Warren.
B
Right? That's why I said on DBU and take a listen to Dan Bernstein Unfiltered, where we get a little bit deeper into it as well. I said that. I believe that there will be a special session called because you're not waiting till the fall. You're not waiting till November, because again, getting the votes in means more votes. That just means more work. That's going to be harder. A special session will be called. So I have two questions left. Who's going to get that special session called? Is it the governor, or will it be Welch and Harmon? Because they can do it the two ways it can get done. Who calls it in the session, and will Kevin Warren be fired before that or after that?
A
Or will George himself say, I'm gonna restart negotiations with the city. We're gonna see what the city can do because we can't take this franchise to Hammond, Indiana. First of all, they can't afford the cleanup.
B
Yeah, I understand that, but I don't think they're gonna. They're gonna reopen Chicago. He's already said that. It's Arlington Heights.
A
What are they gonna do with the land?
B
Right? That's what I'm saying. They have the land.
A
What are you gonna do?
B
They have the land, and they're committed to paying $3.4 million in taxes through next year. So, yeah, you have that window of time. And people are like, oh, well, if it doesn't happen midnight last night, it's not done. Their lease at Soldier Field is up through 2033. The Bears aren't on a particular timeframe that they have to make a dumb decision based on time pressure.
A
I just don't know what he's. What that phone call with Roger Goodell is like this morning. That's the one I want to know. Roger Goodell's on line one. George.
B
Hey.
A
It's fine. Things are fine. Well, no, no, it didn't pass. It didn't pass. We could go to Hammond. Yeah, that's always there. Yeah, we'll see. Well, we're going to wait. Wait for what? I don't know. We're going to. It's not over yet. Just give us a little more time.
B
Yeah.
A
And the league's like, look, we came out there, we flew out there, we made you come in front of us and do a song and dance and tell us what's happening here. What are we. The shit are gone. Off the pot.
B
Well, I think. I think the league knows that Hammond's not a viable option either.
A
But he toured it, and we saw pictures of it during the Super Bowl.
B
That was done to help the Bears.
A
You think?
B
Yeah.
A
Wait a second. Are you saying that Kevin Warren would do something with a mere photo opportunity just to sway opinion that didn't have any basis in political reality?
B
No, but the hell you say. I mean, he's the Pied Piper of the stupid to think that that's a real option. Because it's not. So, yeah, you know, maybe. Maybe George needs to launch Kevin today, sooner than you know, because that didn't work. Then waiting for this. Because that's what's. What's going to have to happen is this. They're going to have to resurrect this pilot option. It was the best option out there. It makes the sense. It makes the most amount of sense for both sides. The Bears get what they want, the state gets what they want. You get to use the land that you've already bought and are fucking paying for. So get it done. So if George. If George needs to launch Kevin so he can continue to resurrect it and then move it forward, then do it. Don't wait. There's no reason to wait. Launch the guy. Why have this guy involved in any more decisions, Dan? They gave him a voting member of the board.
A
They gave him all the power.
B
He's a voting member of the board.
A
They gave him all the power.
B
You want him being involved in any decisions that this franchise makes.
A
Somebody's got to run this thing. See, if Virginia were still. I say this confidently. If Virginia were still alive, Kevin Warren would be out.
B
She proved it when she launched her Son. Yep.
A
Like she actually.
B
Right. Yeah, yeah. Because like, is there someone within the organization that they could turn this to and say, hey, I don't know if there is.
A
It's George, it has to be.
B
I know, but he doesn't want it. Otherwise Kevin wouldn't be here.
A
You cannot continue to keep hiring outsiders. They were lucky Ted Phillips was there when he was. They were lucky they at least had somebody who isn't in their weird ass family who happened to be an Ernst and Young accountant who didn't have the last name of McCaskey, who could get a phone call returned. And they were lucky he happened to be there. Happened to be over promoted from their accounting office. That weird little building still has too much weird in it. You got it out of the football side and the football side's going great. But this whole thing.
B
Yeah, the business side needs to.
A
And you let Kevin Warren spend gobs of money to hire all these people and build out all these people he hired, what was it, Karen Murphy and Ted Cruz and all of these people that he brought in important executive this and this and this and this and desks and computers and then private planes and everything that they've done for nothing.
B
Can they, can they hire like Crane Kenny for like a 30 day consulting job?
A
There's a million consulting firms out there. There's a million because there's a million efficiency based McKinsey consulting firms that they could come over here and sniff over everything and say that.
B
But how about a guy that's gotten it done though, on the business side of things?
A
Somebody.
B
Yeah. So maybe, maybe George has to launch Kevin sooner rather than later and then move this thing forward.
A
You have to send a different message. You have to send a different message. Message. And somehow the, the only way it sounds like Arlington Heights wants to really do business with you is if the pilot program everybody spent years working on that was just summarily dissolved. Dismissed like, no, not doing this. And that was because Warren screwed up too, right? Because he powered Chicago and did all that like, hey, you know, you're not out of it yet. What do you mean we're not out of it? Well, this falls through. And that's because he was scrambling knowing that people were seeing through the Hammond Roos.
B
Well then it's pretty simple. Kevin Warren has to go. And if you're gonna, if you're gonna remove the fingerprints left of this disaster where it's at now, remove the guy that put him there. That's. That's the quickest way to move this forward.
A
But they. You've already wasted three years.
B
Yeah, you have, but let's not waste three more. Yeah. All right. There's dirty fingerprints all over this window. Who made the fingerprints? Who messed up the window? He did. Get rid of him. That's the quickest way to move it forward. Because if you let him linger, that stench stays. Because people involved will start thinking, when does he mess this up next? When will he do? And then. He can't help himself, Dan. He can't. He's proven that. Look at the Big ten. He's proven it. He can't be allowed to stick around after all this. If they want this to get done
A
after all this, he can't be allowed to stay. Because this, right now, that's the face of your organization is just the face of a massive political embarrassment.
B
That's the face of this fumbled project, period.
A
That's why I made the joke on DBU today. And I hope you just him standing there. The Aristocrats. After all of it. After everything you just saw and everything that went on.
B
The backdrop is Hammond. And there's green fumes coming up from the ground.
A
There's like half open drums of toxic waste and human waste.
B
Everybody.
A
Birds falling from the sky with the X's for eyes. Yeah. And he's there. Come on down. The Crazy Kevins. Home of the big ones.
B
It's got to go. Gotta go. Like, what a. Did I. Hey, Mary, I told you last week it wasn't going to happen.
A
You're right. You're right.
B
Just. Just the way it felt.
A
You're right. I owe you lunch. I'll get you lunch today.
B
Oh, you will? Yeah. Only if you buy for everyone else in the. In the suite.
A
I will. I'm gonna. I'm gonna buy for all of suite 2700.
B
You buy lunch for everyone. Deal?
A
Yep.
B
Okay. Yep.
A
It's on the way. Should be here about 40 minutes.
B
Can we do some fun stuff?
A
Let's. Yeah, please, let's do some fun stuff. And. And just, you know, I'm. We're. We're on top of this. We're finding everything out. But. But with every dribb and drab of news that is coming in right here, the Bears really, really has. The Bears. They got to figure out now going forward. Get. Get everybody assess. That board should be meeting. They should be licking their wounds and saying, how do we repair the damage that's been done here?
B
Right? And the quickest way is to get rid of the guy who caused the damage that's going to take up the Biggest amount of. You want to talk about forward progress, get rid of that guy.
A
What are the other municipalities in Cook county that are 70,000 plus population?
B
Take a look.
A
Look up Cook county cities by population. Schaumburg. Ooh. Palatine. Just Mrs. Schaumburg's at 157,000. Cicero, 81,000.
B
No,
A
it says Arlington Heights is 77,000. Oh. Evanston, 74,000.
B
Here's what I talk about.
A
A nightmare.
B
Okay, Is there a large piece of land that would house a stadium and an entire entertainment district? Dan, in a city in Cook county,
A
yes, but not entirely in Cook County.
B
Okay, but is there a piece of land that the Chicago Bears own already?
A
Well, I'll be damned.
B
And where would that be?
A
It's in Arlington Heights. They already own the land.
B
All right.
A
Sounds perfect, doesn't it?
B
Yeah.
A
So how could I just go say so how. How do you think somebody could possibly find a way to torpedo that deal?
B
Oh, was that the line you gave me earlier today? Was that from the hunt for Red October?
A
It was.
B
Is that what that was?
A
You arrogant ass. You've killed us.
B
Yes, that's the line. Torpedoes coming back at them. Yep. Yeah. Okay.
A
Yep.
B
I thought that's what it was.
A
Yeah, It's Stellan Skarsgard.
B
Yeah.
A
And they're in the Alpha. That is another ship and the Alpha. Andre, you lost another submarine.
B
Yeah, that was this. That's what it was. That's what Kevin Warren did.
A
Yes.
B
So Kevin Warren's shots. He's in. He's in the. He's in the submarine. George is next to him.
A
You arrogant ass. You've killed us.
B
One of the many VPs is like, hey, what's this? What is this coming at us? Yeah. Bing, bing.
A
100 meters. 50 meters. Yeah. Boom.
B
Or it's George in the sub, and Kevin's on the torpedo, coming right at him, riding it through the.
A
Like Slim Pickens. Yee haw.
B
That's right.
A
His orange ties flapping behind him in the water.
B
Yep. Got the preacher on the back with him.
A
Oh, God, I pray for the Chicago Bears to have a stadium bang. Yep.
B
All right, here's some fun stuff. I saw this on ESPN. It was titled 100 days to the 2026 NFL season. That's where we sit right now, 100 days. And they have a. Oh, my God. There's a whole variety of things and tidbits and nuggets and bold predictions and thoughts, and I thought, well, you know what? The Chicago Bears won their division last year. There's got to be something good about the Bears. Bears related stuff in here.
A
Yes.
B
So I'm scrolling through. Dan, here's the first thing that I, that I, that I found.
A
Okay.
B
And this comes from our pal Matt Bowen. Caleb Williams threw for 3,942 yards and 27 touchdowns in 2025, his first season under coach Ben. With another off season to develop in Johnson's system, the Bears QB is primed to play at a high level in 2026. Plus he has a versatile and explosive group of pass catchers. The arrow is pointing up on Caleb Williams. Matt Bowen's prediction for the 2026 season.
A
Let me guess, 10 and 7.
B
Caleb Williams will win the NFL MVP award.
A
Now is he on the COVID of Madden or not?
B
I believe so.
A
Okay.
B
I believe my children have told me that that's accurate.
A
Okay.
B
Now the picture that I've seen it, it's a really close up shot of Caleb like his torso and his head and he has his arms over his shoulders like this and he's down like the heads down and there's like snow falling in the background. I don't know if that's an accurate picture. It's pretty cool though. That is pretty cool. So Matt Bowen has Caleb Williams winning the NFL MVP award in 2026.
A
Well, I think they might have to extend his contract if that's the case.
B
Well, they're going to have to do that anyway, Dan, because his kind, when his rookie contract ends, they're going to have to sign him to a new one if they want to keep him.
A
Probably before.
B
Yeah, either that or he'll play for that Hammond team. Where's he going? Hammond.
A
The pride of Indiana. Caleb Williams. Do,
B
do, do. Hey, let me ask you this question, Dan.
A
Yes.
B
Who is this? Who did this part? Oh, Ben Solak. I love reading Ben Solak stuff here on espn. He has a rookie taking over for a veteran at a position.
A
Logan Jones at center for Garrett Bradbury on the defense. A rookie taking over for a veteran on the deep. Well, that we already don't know. Or let me guess. It's Malik Muhammad taking over for Tyreek Stevenson.
B
Ding, ding, ding. Give that man lunch. That is correct.
A
I get lunch back.
B
You do? I'm going to buy you lunch today. It's almost here.
A
Works out beautifully.
B
The turnover in the Bears secondary has left them with a big battle at cornerback. 2 and Sean Wright was a godsend last season.
A
I don't have time for lunch.
B
For his on ball production. But the Bears wisely decided not to bet on another five interceptions and three fumble Recovers instead, the snaps opposite Jalen Johnson will go to either the incumbent Stevenson or Muhammad. Picking Malik Muhammad to take the job from Tyreek Stevenson.
A
I think they want that to happen. I think that would be ideal.
B
All right, scrolling through for more. Looking for the Bears logo. Here was the next section. Five underrated rookies, Dan, not selected in round one. Who are one of the five? Your guy at center, Logan Jones. The sudden retirement of Drew Dahlman left a huge hole at center for the Bears in the long term. Chicago traded for Garrett Bradbury to be its presumptive starter in 2026, but he'll be a free agent after the season. Jones could be the centerpiece of Chicago's o line in 2027 and beyond. But I believe, and I think you believe the same thing, that it'll happen before 2027 season.
A
I think so.
B
I don't think it'll be the start. I don't think it'll be.
A
It'll likely be injury.
B
You really? Yeah, I think it'll be production ability. What he learns, I just don't know. And. But you know, I've read enough about Logan Jones to say that he could be up to speed to take over by week one.
A
There's a little bit of breaking news here from. From Jordan Schultz. Oh, the NFL Insider and son of Howard Schultz, the Starbucks founder. The Browns are in the process of trading all pro pass rusher Miles Garrett to the Rams. And his only other line is. Yes, this is real. An absolute blockbuster. This is. This is the real saint. This is the real guy. He has broken news before. He's got half a million followers. The Browns are. He didn't say, talking. In the process of trading Miles Garrett to the Rams. Multiple sources.
B
I don't like it. I don't like it either.
A
Not. Not one little bit. Unless. Unless they're giving up everybody else on the team. I mean, there's going to.
B
Well, are they trading for Matthew Stafford?
A
Well, no. Oh, so now it's the. It's Ty Simpson time. They're moving up the timetable for Ty Simpson to take over the Rams. Then it's fine.
B
No, if they. Yeah, I'm good on that. Yeah, you can do that.
A
Okay.
B
Yeah. I don't like that. I'm not a fan of that trade. I don't think that's a good.
A
No, I liked him in the other conference. Yeah, there it is. Tom Pelissero. The Browns are finalizing a trade to send superstar Miles Garrett to the Rams. Cleveland is expected to receive two time Pro bowl edge Jared Verse.
B
Okay.
A
A 2027 first round pick and additional compensation.
B
Huh. So not Matthew Stafford.
A
No. But you're swapping out Jared Verse for somebody who's better. Jared Verse already really good. I wonder what the that impact makes. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know what that. What impact that makes. He's better.
B
Who's better?
A
I mean Miles Garrett's better than Jared Verse. Yeah, but it's not like Jared versus Bad.
B
Yeah. Jared versus yeah. It just. He's not. He's not a top five guy. Top three guy. I mean old Miles Garrett's the best defensive player in the. In the game.
A
That's really interesting. Okay. I wonder what the additional compensation is. I would certainly.
B
Matthew Stafford. Tom just didn't include that. Wow. Good for the Rams. That's. Did he find a way to take a sideswipe of the Bears for not addressing the edge all.
A
Was that a rule? Now all national media.
B
Yes.
A
Cleveland is expected received two time Pro bowl edge Jared Verse. A position the Bears have not addressed.
B
There's nothing in there like that.
A
No.
B
No. All right. I don't even want to continue now with the fun stuff. I don't feel good.
A
Okay.
B
I don't like it.
A
Wow. Wow.
B
That's. Man, oh man. That's very unexpected. That is.
A
Adam Schefter has it now. That was it. Jordan Schultz first on it. Miles Garrett is a Ram. Yeah. Yeah. All right. There's got to be some money difference there about who's where they are in the contract clocks as they try to figure out what we need. This interesting move by Cleveland because that's not going to be a very high bet. 2027 Rams first round pick. It could be the last pick in the first round.
B
Yeah. All right. I'll see how that develops.
A
I'd like to know more about why they certainly felt they had to move. Was he just demanding a trade? What? What was.
B
Maybe he got around our guy for a few practices and was like, think
A
that's what it is?
B
No. Not staying here.
A
Hello. Why is your play sheet in your pants? Or maybe Todd Muggins. Like I don't need this guy.
B
Who is the owner of the Browns again?
A
Jimmy Haslam.
B
Yeah. So you think then come on in. Oh, hey, what's up, Miles? Hey, I want to go. Oh, I'm sure you could. I'm sure. You're free to leave. No, no, no, no. I don't want to play here anymore.
A
No, it's bad. I gotta go.
B
I don't like this I'm done. Yeah.
A
I don't know what this guy's talking about.
B
All right.
A
See, I'm doing this to my guy, Todd Monken, though. I still kind of like this.
B
Well, you said he's gonna get the first guy fired, didn't you?
A
Yeah, I did.
B
Yeah.
A
But that's.
B
I mean, we're watching him because we love him.
A
I know.
B
All right, here. I'm done with the fun stuff. I want to go to other stuff.
A
That's not fun.
B
You ready?
A
It's not fun.
B
Yeah. This is not fun. Ready? So we know the controversy that happened with Jackson Dart, Abdul Carter, the Giants.
A
Right. So Abdul Carter was like, I think our quarterback might be a shithead.
B
Yeah. Basically, it's what happened.
A
Yeah.
B
So here are some other. Some comments from both sides of this. Jackson Dart. So the president. The president position has always been a position that I've well respected, regardless of political affiliation, regardless of political power. This is Jackson Dart.
A
Wait, he didn't write that.
B
You know, my intentions were just that. I believe he did because. Let me. Let me continue on here, please. I also understand that in this world, politics can be a sensitive matter, a sensitive topic. I also understand this is good, that I'm the quarterback of the New York Giants. Okay. That's a good story.
A
That's good.
B
Yeah. And that involves a lot of responsibility. He wrote this because he said it. It's under a limelight.
A
A limelight. Not the limelight.
B
It's under a limelight.
A
Okay, maybe he did write it.
B
He did write it. It's under a limelight, living in a
A
limelight, under a microscope.
B
And there's a lot that comes with that. And it's been something that I've embraced. I loved being here. I love the city of New York. I love the state of New Jersey, the people that I've met here. It's just been really amazing.
A
I get to it.
B
Hang on. And there's not another place I'd rather be. Mostly the people in this organization, my teammates, the staff, coaches, everybody that has a hand. We've had a lot of honest conversations with each other as a team. I'd like to keep those things private between me and my teammates. All right, here's what Abdul Carter.
A
Okay, that's fine. The question is, do you support mass deportations? Do you support disenfranchising minority voters? So that also important to you?
B
We know what Abdul Carter originally said. Here's more. When asked, does he want an apology
A
from his quarterback, what did Abdul Carter say?
B
No, I don't want him to say he's sorry, like stand on what you believe in.
A
There it is. That's what I've been saying. That's what I've been saying about Matt Shaw. That's what I'm saying about Jackson Dart. Don't pretend that you don't support or just be real. Yes, and say, yes, I support mass deportations. Yes. I don't want black people to vote. Just say it.
B
Yes. I don't want slavery taught in our school systems.
A
Right. Say those things.
B
So Abdul Carter says, no, I don't want him to say he's sorry, like stand on what you believe in. But it can't be a problem when I stand on what I believe. And that's all that matters to me. As long as we have that understanding, it's all good. Like I said last week when we talked about this, we both agreed. You can have that opinions you want. I support your right to have that opinion, but fucking own it and speak it.
A
Tell me if you. Look, here's the thing. You're allowed to be a shithead, right?
B
You're allowed to be a racist.
A
And that I can. That I can react to that and respond to what you support and form my judgment of you based on what you support. That's how this works.
B
Right. And I can frame my interaction and my engagement with you accordingly.
A
Right. And if I know I walk in a room and I'm dealing with a shithead, I'm informed.
B
Right. And then I can turn around and walk out because why there's a shithead.
A
Exactly. It's really very simple.
B
Yes. Or we just go to what I always say. People should just wear signs. And your sign would say, I'm a racist shithead. And I'd walk up and I'd say, because I'm. I can't see very well. So I would say, what's it. Hey, can you sit up a second? What's your sign say? Oh, it says racist shithead. Okay.
A
Oh, good. Thanks for letting me know.
B
Yeah. And then when you say, hey, how are you? And I ignore you and walk away, you'll know why didn't.
A
Was it Roy Wood Jr. Who had that great line about the Confederate flag where he some. I forgot who I think it was.
B
Roy Wood Jr. Was it about not taking it down?
A
Yes.
B
So I know. Yeah.
A
Yeah. He said, like, everyone's getting rid of it.
B
Yeah.
A
He said, no, no, no, don't. That's how I know who the dangerous white people are.
B
Yes. Yeah. All right. So. All right, we're going to Stay on top of all the things that are happening. God. Yeah. Not only with Miles Garrett going to the Rams, which is fucking stupid. That's a dumb trade. Cleveland.
A
I'd like. I got to know more, but all we know is that it is real.
B
Like, did somebody in that division, like, get together with your guy and be like, hey, you know, it'd be good for you guys to do this Would be really great. I should trade Miles Garrett.
A
I was under a bridge getting my hair cut.
B
A troll came by. Yeah, cut my hair again.
A
Coach is under the bridge again. Todd, we have practice.
B
Get a haircut. Play sheet in his pants, bottle of Jameson rolls away.
A
No, no, no, don't. Come on. We don't know that. Later. After he's fired.
B
No, that's during his haircuts. Hey, everyone's barbershop is different. Yeah.
A
Maybe he's got to wait. Maybe. Maybe it's like one of those barbershops where you actually have to, like, go there and wait.
B
Yeah, I don't go there.
A
I never, like, make an appointment. Go there when your appointment is, you know.
B
Well, it's because those places that don't take appointments, the barbershops, like that. I mean, it's a hangout. It's a hangout. It's also cheaper. Oh, yeah, you don't pay. That's. I'm surprised you don't do that. Wait, what do you pay for a haircut again?
A
Well, I had enough Supercuts points that I redeemed 200 points, so I got $10 off. So instead of.
B
So they gave you money.
A
So instead of 30, it was 20.
B
You got a haircut and a $5 bill.
A
So instead of 30, it was twenty. And then I gave my stylist the extra ten.
B
Your hair did look nice today when you walked in.
A
Thank you. It always does. Yeah, she does a great job.
B
She always does a great job. It doesn't always look nice when you walk in, though.
A
I know. It's one of two. Either. Either Piedad or David. Either one does. And it's easy. It takes 10 minutes.
B
Oh, I got breaking news here from Albert Breer.
A
What's that?
B
The Cleveland Browns are trading Miles Garrett to the LA Rams.
A
Yeah, I got it, too, because my kid is in Sweden, you know, he's in speed and telling me all about Miles Garrett going to the red just now for Jared Verse and picked.
B
Is he really? Yeah. Tell him it's fake.
A
No.
B
Yeah, just tell him it's fake. He's bothering you and you're recording a show and you're talking about it.
A
7:30 there.
B
Yeah. There's seven hours ahead, correct? Yeah. All right.
A
He'll be headed out soon.
B
All right. We gotta get. We gotta wrap this up.
A
Okay.
B
And we'll keep on top of things because.
A
Stuff.
B
And things. Oh, yeah.
A
And big celebrations of.
B
Yeah. Well, you bought lunch for everyone, so.
A
Yeah, and so did you. We both bought lunch for everybody. Perfect. On the same day.
B
You better thank us.
A
Yeah. All of sweet 2700. Better than us.
B
I want those guys in the drive to thank us. Especially the guy who attacked you while you were fishing.
A
Who?
B
Bird. Who attacked you?
A
Bird.
B
I want to find out why he attacked you. I'm going to ask him.
A
I wonder if he'll be here today.
B
He will be. There's lunch. I'm going to be like, hey, why did you attack Bernstein over the weekend? He'll try to deny it.
A
I didn't do anything of the sort. I don't know what you're talking about. On the drive. Here's ZZ Top with cheap sunglasses. Oh, yeah.
B
Wait. Yeah.
A
You done yet?
B
I know. Are you done yet? Yeah, I'm done. You didn't wrap the show up.
A
Oh. Forward Progress, a Chicago Bears and NFL podcast on three 1, 2. Smart forward progress has stopped. Ted 2:19.
B
2, 19:19. Forward progress, a Chicago Bears podcast with Dan Bernstein and Matt abetic cola on 312 sports.
In this fiery episode, Dan Bernstein and Matt Abbatacola dive head-first into two high-impact stories shaking the NFL: the ongoing Bears stadium cluster and the bombshell Myles Garrett trade. They offer unfiltered, passionate, and often bitingly humorous takes on failed stadium negotiations in Arlington Heights—pinning the blame squarely on Bears President Kevin Warren—and analyze the reverberations of the Myles Garrett deal. With sharp real-time reactions and relentless accountability, this episode delivers classic Bernstein and Abbatacola: part therapy session for Bears fans, part football clinic, and full-on Chicago attitude.
The hosts express outright exasperation with the collapse of the Arlington Heights stadium deal, lambasting Bears President Kevin Warren for mismanagement, political naivete, and failure to heed expert advice.
Main Argument: Warren ignored sound advice from political, communications, and lobbying consultants, leading to “square one” after years and millions wasted.
Arlington Heights fails to meet eligibility for the much-needed Sports Authority “Pilot” bill, deepening the stadium impasse.
The guys stress that securing massive public funding is not easy (or even desirable)—and shouldn’t be. They’re critical of government handouts for billionaire teams.
The only path forward, they argue, is ousting Warren—forcefully and fast.
Constant frustration at McCaskey ownership’s hesitancy to get hands-on.
