Attorneys revealing Google's YouTube has reached an undisclosed settlement with a minor who accused the platform of negatively impacting mental health. This would have been the second California state trial accusing tech companies of intentionally creating addictive features that led to harms including anxiety and depression. A jury in Los angeles previously finding YouTube and meta liable. Addressing the settlement, a rep for Google tells local media this matter has been amicably resolved and our focus remains on building age appropriate products and parental controls. A lawyer for the plaintiff says YouTube's decision to resolve this case before having to face a jury speaks for itself, adding the tide of the law and public opinion are shifting.
