Fox News Hourly Update: 10AM ET – June 26, 2025
On the morning of June 26, 2025, the Fox News Hourly Update delivered a comprehensive overview of the latest national and international developments. Hosted by Dave Anthony, the episode covered pivotal topics ranging from military actions and political trials to economic indicators and significant shifts in the food industry. Below is a detailed summary capturing the key discussions, insights, and conclusions from the broadcast.
The newscast opened with a significant focus on recent military actions involving the United States and Iran. President Donald Trump lauded the Pentagon's update regarding the U.S. airstrikes on Iran's nuclear facilities, describing the communication as "one of the greatest, most professional updates he's ever seen" (00:02). Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth provided further insights, stating, “I can say here that the assessment is that we significantly damaged the nuclear program, setting it back by years” (00:21).
Addressing reports that suggested the damage might have been limited, Hegseth clarified the situation: “It admits itself in writing that it requires weeks to accumulate the necessary data to make such an assessment. It's preliminary. It points out that it's not been coordinated with the intelligence community at all” (00:36). This statement was in response to initial Pentagon assessments that had been leaked to the media, leading to a more cautious approach from the administration in forthcoming briefings to Congress.
The broadcast also highlighted Iran's response to the airstrikes. Despite the reported damage, Iran's Supreme Leader appeared on state television declaring victory over Israel and the United States. Ayatollah Khamenei boasted, “the Islamic Republic delivered a hard slap to America's face by attacking one of its key bases in the region” (01:04). Specifically, the Al Udin Air Base was targeted, and while U.S. forces successfully shot down the incoming missiles, the Iranian leadership remained defiant in their public statements.
Additionally, Pete Hegseth remarked on the complexity and scale of the operation: “Was a remarkable operation. And let's not forget that it was preceded by the Israeli Israelis taking out nuclear scientists, taking out the ballistic missile capability” (00:55). This underscores the coordinated efforts between allies in addressing regional security threats.
Switching gears to the legal front, Dave Anthony provided an update on the high-profile trial of Sean "Diddy" Combs, who stands accused of sex trafficking. The trial, taking place in federal court in New York, was approaching its closing arguments phase. Anthony noted, “Closing arguments about to get underway at Sean Diddy Combs sex trafficking trial in federal court in New York. Prosecutors go first. The rapper and music producer did not testify in the case. His lawyers arguments are tomorrow” (01:04). The absence of Combs’ testimony adds another layer of complexity to the proceedings, with both the prosecution and defense strategizing their final arguments for the conclusing of the trial.
A significant portion of the update was dedicated to the state of the U.S. economy. Early reports indicated that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) had contracted by 0.5% in the first quarter, a worse revision than the initially reported 0.2% (01:04). Dave Anthony contextualized this by stating, “the updates on the economy shrinking last quarter, not a big deal on Wall Street” (02:29). Indeed, despite the GDP contraction, major stock indices showed resilience, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising by 194 points, the S&P 500 increasing by 279.4 points, and the Nasdaq experiencing gains.
Further detailing the labor market, Jenny Casola reported mixed signals in the unemployment sector: “People filed for unemployment Benefits for the first in the week ending June 21, though, more people are remaining on benefits, new claims declined by 10,000 to 236,000, the numbers fewer than economists were predicting. But continuing claims, those remaining on Benefits rose by 37,000 to 1.97 million in the week ending June 14th. That's the most continuing claims reported since November of 2021” (02:49). This indicates a nuanced economic landscape where new joblessness claims are decreasing, but the stability of existing claimants is eroding.
The update also touched upon the fluctuating energy markets. Oil prices saw a modest increase of about half a dollar, pushing the price per barrel above $65. In contrast, gasoline prices experienced a slight decline, with AAA reporting a national average of $3.22 per gallon for regular gas — steady compared to the previous week and down by 27 cents from the previous year (03:18). This volatility reflects ongoing adjustments in the global energy sector, influenced by geopolitical tensions and market dynamics.
In a notable shift within the food and beverage industry, Hillary Barski reported significant changes aimed at improving consumer health standards. “Nestle will eliminate artificial colors from its US food and beverages by the middle of 2026. Nestle is the latest company to make the commitment. Last week, Kraft, Heinz and General Mills said that they would take out artificial dyes from their US products by 2027” (03:36). Furthermore, General Mills announced plans to remove artificial dyes not only from their cereals like Cheerios and Lucky Charms but also from all food served in K-12 schools by mid-next year. This collective movement by major food corporations signifies a broader industry trend towards more natural and health-conscious product formulations.
Shifting to the sports arena, the broadcast provided updates on the ongoing NBA draft. Dave Anthony announced the commencement of the draft, highlighting that Cooper Flags from Duke was selected as the number one pick by the Dallas Mavericks (04:05). Additionally, Jared Max reported a historic moment for the Brooklyn Nets, who became the first team to select five players in the first round, a feat achieved through a series of trades totaling ten (04:10). These strategic moves reflect the Nets' aggressive approach to reshaping their roster for future seasons.
The June 26, 2025, episode of the Fox News Hourly Update encapsulated a broad spectrum of newsworthy events, offering listeners a thorough analysis of critical issues. From international military engagements and high-stakes legal trials to economic performance indicators and transformative industry changes, the broadcast provided a detailed and engaging overview tailored to inform and update its audience effectively.
