Jared Halpern
No leadership continues trying to cobble together at least 50 votes for the one big beautiful bill.
John Barrasso
Trying to get a lot for everybody. And it's a big bill. Smaller bills would have been easy, but they wouldn't have been as good. I think it's going to do okay.
Jared Halpern
President Trump speaking with reporters ahead of a flight to Florida. The legislation would extend tax cuts passed during the president's first term, boost spending for border enforcement and cut spending on Medicaid and federal nutrition programs.

That's fox's Jared Halpern. President Trump says Elon Musk might lose a lot over his opposition to this bill.
Elon Musk
Musk posting on X that Congress members who, quote, campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame, adding, and they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this earth. In response, President Trump suggested that the government efficiency department should review the subsidies that Tesla owned by Musk receives. Musk helped lead that department during his tenure as an advisor to Trump. Tanya J.

Jessica Rosenthal
58% of us say we are proud of the country. That's the highest number the polls found in a decade, but it's a number that appears to be partisan. Last June, a little over a third of Republicans said they were proud of the USA. Now 85% are. And right now, just a little over a third of Democrats are proud. Last June, 55% of them were. Pride aside, most think the US is the best country in which to live. More than two thirds of us think so overall. But break it down by party, and half of Democrats say so. 60% of independents and 90% of the GOP think so. Trust in the federal government is rough. Just one in three of us trust the feds, and that was roughly the same level of trust we had in 2011, when pride in the country was at 69%. Jessica Rosenthal, Fox NEWS There's a new.

Hurricane in the Pacific.
Evan Brown
Flossie is off Mexico's southwestern coast, a little more than 150 miles out from Manzanillo. Winds are holding at 85 miles an hour. Flossie will travel northwest over the next few days, but stay out to sea. A second storm in the Pacific could be brewing just behind Flossie, though it could be a few more days before it forms in the Atlantic basin. A low pressure system is straddling much of northern and central Florida. The though forecasters say there is only a small chance it could grow into a cyclone.

Fox's Evan Brown at least 36 people are killed in an explosion at a pharmaceutical factory in India.
Jonathan Savage
The massive blast could be heard from miles away. It happened at a pharmaceutical factory near Hyderabad in India's southern Telangana state. 34 bodies were pulled from the site, with other factory workers passing away at the hospital. Some three dozen more are still being treated, with many bodies badly burned and mutilated. The state's health minister says DNA testing is being used to formally identify the victims.

Fox News Hourly Update: 10AM ET | July 1, 2025
Released on July 1, 2025
Chris Foster opens the newscast discussing the ongoing legislative efforts to pass President Trump's proposed tax and spending legislation. He states, “They need to get to 50” (00:02), emphasizing the required majority in the Senate for the bill's passage.
Majority Whip John Barrasso expresses optimism about the bill's progress: “I think we're going to get there” (00:05) and further elaborates, “Trying to get a lot for everybody. And it's a big bill. Smaller bills would have been easy, but they wouldn't have been as good. I think it's going to do okay” (00:27). This statement underscores the complexity and comprehensive nature of the legislation.
Jared Halpern provides additional context, mentioning the Senate has been engaged in amendment votes for over 26 hours and that leadership is striving to secure the necessary 50 votes to pass the bill. He highlights the bill’s key components: “the legislation would extend tax cuts passed during the president's first term, boost spending for border enforcement, and cut spending on Medicaid and federal nutrition programs” (00:36).
Chris Foster reports on President Trump’s remarks concerning Elon Musk's opposition to the tax and spending bill: “President Trump says Elon Musk might lose a lot over his opposition to this bill” (00:50). In response, Elon Musk took to platform X (formerly Twitter) stating, “Congress members who, quote, campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame” (00:56). Musk further threatens consequences: “they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this earth.”
In retaliation, President Trump suggested a conflict of interest for Musk: “the government efficiency department should review the subsidies that Tesla owned by Musk receives” (00:56). This scrutiny is notable given that Musk had previously served as an advisor to Trump in the department.
A heartbreaking report unfolds as two firefighters are killed in an ambush attack near Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Chris Foster introduces the story: “two firefighters shot and killed Sunday in an ambush attack near Coeur d’Alene, Idaho had asked the gunman to move his vehicle” (01:22).
Wes Rowley, the local sheriff, identifies the shooter as “20-year-old Wes Rowley” (01:30). Investigations reveal that Rowley appeared to be living out of his vehicle and orchestrated the attack by setting a fire using a flint to lure the firefighters. Upon their arrival, the ambush ensued, resulting in the deaths of firefighters Frank Harward (43) and John Morrison (52), with a third firefighter sustaining serious injuries (01:52).
Jessica Rosenthal presents findings from a recent Fox poll on American pride: “58% of us say we are proud of the country. That's the highest number the polls found in a decade” (02:17). However, the sentiment is deeply partisan. Notably, “last June, a little over a third of Republicans said they were proud of the USA. Now 85% are” (02:17), while among Democrats, “just a little over a third are proud,” down from 55% the previous June.
Beyond pride, the poll reveals that “more than two-thirds of us think [the US] is the best country in which to live overall” (02:17), though this belief also varies by party: “half of Democrats say so, 60% of independents, and 90% of the GOP” (02:17). Trust in the federal government remains low: “Just one in three of us trust the feds” (02:17), maintaining levels similar to 2011.
Chris Foster transitions to weather updates: “Hurricane in the Pacific” (03:00).
Evan Brown reports that Hurricane Flossie is currently positioned off Mexico’s southwestern coast, approximately 150 miles from Manzanillo, with sustained winds of 85 miles per hour. Flossie is expected to move northwestward over the next few days but will remain out at sea, posing minimal threat to land (03:01). Additionally, a second storm may be developing in the Pacific, though its formation could take a few more days, potentially shifting to the Atlantic basin. In Florida, a low-pressure system is present across northern and central regions, with forecasters assessing a small chance of cyclone development (03:01).
Chris Foster reports a tragic incident in India: “at least 36 people are killed in an explosion at a pharmaceutical factory in India” (03:31).
Jonathan Savage provides details, stating the explosion occurred near Hyderabad in Telangana state and was so powerful it was “heard from miles away” (03:36). Rescue efforts retrieved 34 bodies from the site, with additional fatalities reported at hospitals. Approximately three dozen individuals remain under treatment, many suffering from severe burns and injuries. The state's health minister confirmed that DNA testing is underway to identify the victims formally (03:36).
The financial sector sees varied activity as the first day of the third quarter kicks off. Chris Foster notes, “stocks mixed on Wall Street” (04:00), indicating a day of volatility and uncertainty in the markets.
