Union Pacific is buying Norfolk Southern in an $85 billion deal. If the deal is approved by regulators, It America's first transcontinental railroad, combining Union Pacific's dominance of the Western U.S. with Norfolk's network of 22 Eastern states. A joint statement says the legendary companies will seamlessly connect more than 50,000 route miles across 43 states from the east coast to the west coast, linking approximately 100 ports and nearly every corner of North America. The deal also requires support from labor unions. It says both railroads envision every union employee who wants a job in the combined company will have one. Ginny Coselda, FOX news.

More than 43,000 people in Pittsburgh will be getting notices that past medical debt is forgiven, more than $58 million worth total. It's through a partnership between the city and the nonprofit Undue Medical Debt. Legislation passed in 2023 authorized the contract. The debt forgiveness is for Pittsburgh residents who have a household income between 0% and 400% of the federal poverty level or have medical debt that equals 5% or more of their annual income. There's no application or request for relief. Everyone who qualifies should automatically get letters from Undue medical debt starting this week. Chris Foster, FOX news.
