New claims for unemployment benefits rose by just 6,000 last week to 226,000 continuing claims. The reading on those remaining on benefits continues to inch higher, 1.97 million for the week ending July 26th. It's the highest number of continuing claims in more than three and a half years. And it's a sign new jobs are less plentiful, so laid off workers are having to look longer for new employment. Ginny Coselda, FOX News.

Back at home, Fox's Alexandria Hoff reported on the contentious redistricting efforts in Texas. GOP Senator John Cornyn responded assertively, stating that the FBI has agreed to help track the Democrats down who have been fined. Additionally, Republicans are threatening to remove these lawmakers from office if they continue to obstruct the process. Cornyn emphasized the seriousness of the situation, highlighting the lengths to which the GOP is prepared to go to secure their political advantage. [01:38]

The economic segment provided an update on the stock market and broader economic indicators:
President Trump's focus is set to shift towards retirement accounts, specifically 401(k)s.
