Fox News Hourly Update – 10AM ET 08/13/2025 Newscast Summary
Release Date: August 13, 2025
The Fox News Hourly Update delivered a comprehensive roundup of the day’s most pressing headlines, encompassing international diplomacy, domestic security, economic indicators, and local incidents. Hosted by Dave Anthony, the episode provided in-depth coverage with contributions from various FOX News correspondents and experts.
The newscast opened with significant developments in U.S.-Ukraine relations. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is currently in Germany engaging in talks aimed at strengthening the battle against Russian aggression. Additionally, a highly anticipated phone call between Zelensky and President Trump is expected to address critical issues.
Mark Meredith reported from the White House:
“Leaders coming just hours before the president will head out west to Alaska for his rare one on one summit with the Russian president. This call expected to cover a number of different topics, including ways that the US could pressure Russia on how they make sure that they get the best deal possible.”
(Timestamp: 00:16)
The conversation in Alaska is poised to tackle strategies for exerting pressure on Russia, securing Ukraine’s territorial integrity, and ensuring future security guarantees for Kyiv. The discussions aim to chart the path forward following the initial summit.
The update then shifted focus to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister has announced plans to escalate military actions as the conflict moves deeper into Gaza City. Palestinian officials reported that at least 25 more individuals were killed today while attempting to access humanitarian aid.
In an effort to address the humanitarian crisis, the Israeli Prime Minister stated intentions to allow Palestinians to relocate from Gaza, with South Sudan being considered as a potential destination.
Turning to domestic affairs, the National Guard and federal agents have been deployed in Washington D.C. amid heightened security measures. This move follows President Trump’s directive to take control of the police in the nation’s capital to combat rising crime rates.
U.S. Attorney for D.C., Jeanine Pirro, emphasized the administration’s commitment to public safety:
“I fight on behalf of those people who simply want to be safe and want to be able to walk outside their homes and not worry about a bunch of thugs or young punks going after them and beating the hell out of them. Those days are over.”
(Timestamp: 01:14)
Pirro highlighted the administration’s efforts to restore safety and curb criminal activities affecting everyday citizens.
In significant law enforcement news, 26 suspected drug dealers associated with powerful Mexican cartels have been extradited to the United States. Among those apprehended are top leaders from the Sinaloa, Jalisco, and Noreste cartels, all of which are designated as foreign terrorist organizations.
Attorney General Bondi stated:
“These 26 men have all played a role in bringing violence and drugs to American shores. Under this Department of Justice, they will face severe consequences for their crimes against this country.”
(Timestamp: 01:33)
This operation underscores the administration’s stringent stance against international drug trafficking and its impact on U.S. communities.
Tragic news emerged from East Tennessee, where severe flooding has resulted in the deaths of three individuals. A fallen tree obliterated a vehicle, leading to one of the fatalities. The region continues to grapple with the repercussions of the flooding, with ongoing rescue and recovery efforts.
The newscast highlighted a record-breaking morning on Wall Street. The Dow Jones Industrial Average surged by 360 points, the Nasdaq climbed 66 points, reaching an all-time high, and the S&P 500 increased by 24 points. Concurrently, oil prices experienced a significant drop, with prices falling below $63 per barrel, while gas prices saw a modest rise of one cent, maintaining AAA’s national average at $3.15 per gallon.
Carmen Roberts reported on economic developments:
“GE Appliances plans to invest $3 billion in the U.S. the company, an independent subsidiary of Chinese Ha Smart Home Company, plans to expand and modernize its factories over the next five years and help blunt the effects of tariffs by reshoring some work now done in China and Mexico.”
(Timestamp: 02:48)
Roberts detailed GE Appliances’ substantial investment aimed at expanding manufacturing capabilities in the United States, creating approximately one thousand jobs across five states, including South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, and Kentucky. This initiative is part of broader trade negotiations between the U.S. and China, signaling a move towards reshoring production to mitigate tariff impacts.
Among lighter yet noteworthy stories, beachgoers in Maine were alerted to a large great white shark swimming near Portland waters. Jason Chaffetz provided additional context:
“Great white sharks made famous 50 years ago in the movie Jaws, are not common in Maine, but sightings have increased in recent years, possibly due to a growing seal population.”
(Timestamp: 03:30)
Authorities issued warnings accompanied by drone footage of the 10 to 12-foot shark observed near three beaches. While shark attacks remain rare in Maine, the latest sighting echoes a tragic incident from 2020 when a great white fatally attacked a woman from New York City near Bailey Island.
