Vladimir Putin has come and gone from Alaska, but the latest development from overnight is that now Vladimir Zelinsky is going to come to the United States. He'll be in the Oval Office the day after tomorrow. And this is why President Trump says it was determined by all that the best way to end the horrific war between Russia and Ukraine is to go directly to a peace agreement and not a mere ceasefire agreement which oftentimes do not hold up. And despite the lack of a ceasefire so far, Putin packed praise for President.

I mean, we were together almost three hours and it was very extensive and we agreed on a lot of points. I mean, a lot of points were agreed on, but there's not that much. There's, you know, one or two pretty significant items, but I think they can be reached now. It's really up to President Zelensky to get it done.

Hurricane Aaron strengthening into a Category 4 storm as it churns toward the Caribbean. Fox Weather's Robert Ray in St. Thomas on the U.S. virgin Islands.

We are beginning to feel some breezy conditions which we felt overnight and some rain as this storm has rapidly increased. It is to the northeast of where we are at and we will feel the effects. What we are in for for the rest of the day is deteriorating conditions throughout the United States Virgin Islands, including Puerto Rico, which is to the west of where we're at. Thankfully, a direct hit is not in play as the system will make that turn up into the Atlantic and likely cut in between BERMUDA and mainland U.S.

Police President Trump's federal takeover of Washington, D.C. s police department is still in effect, but D.C. s top cop remains in charge of the city's police force. The city's attorney general filed a lawsuit challenging what he called an unlawful attempt by the federal government to seize control of city police. Attorney General Pam Bondi had named DEA Administrator Terry Cole to be emergency police commissioner overseeing the force, but she toned down that order after the suit was filed. She now says Cole must work with the mayor's office when it comes to directing police in Washington.
