It's a mixed market on Wall Street. The dow is up 188 points but the NASDAQ is down 98. The S&P 500 losing about 1 point. The price of oil is down a half dollar. It's back under 63 bucks a barrel. Gas is down a fraction, but AAA's national average for regular remains $3.13 a gallon, just about the same price we've been paying for the last month. They're fueling up Air Canada planes getting ready to resume service after a strike ended early this morning.
Unidentified News Reporter
The tentative agreement between Air Canada and the union representing its flight attendants coming on day four of the strike, which upended travel for an estimated half million passengers, and after flight attendants defied two return to work orders from an industrial relations board which ruled the strike unlawful. The union says the airline will now pay for work done while planes are on the ground, such as boarding passengers. That was one of the major issues which drove the strike. Air Canada says wages would rise by 8% the first year and that flights are slated to resume this evening. But return to full regular service could take more than a week.

Governor J.B. pritzker, who's been mentioned as a possible Democratic presidential candidate in 2028, signed a bill into law this week that opens student financial aid to all residents, regardless of immigration status. Supporters say it creates equitable elig for financial aid and benefits for all students. But Republican State Representative Mary Miller calls it a slap in the face to students and their families who legally reside in Illinois.
