And before the president went to Quantico, Virginia to address those leaders, he talked to reporters about his plan for peace in Gaza that Israel's prime minister agreed to yesterday at the White House. Hamas is yet to respond.

The president says if Hamas rejects the plan that would release all the hostages, he'd support Israel keeping up the war to destroy Hamas. The clock keeps ticking for Congress to improve new funding before tomorrow to keep the government operating.

Thousands of federal workers deemed non essential could be furloughed in the wake of a shutdown. Programs like Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and law enforcement will continue, but the employees working in those agencies could go without pay until the shutdown ends. Republicans and Democrats still have significant disagreements on avoiding a shutdown ahead of a midnight deadline.
