Who is currently working and not getting paid would get paid under this proposal. The Democrats are going to try and counter it with a political gimmick which would pay federal employees once, but then continue the shutdown.

Democrats have blocked new funding that would end that shutdown, demanding health care provisions be attached to spending. The European Union has joined the US Imposing new sanctions on Russia for the war in Ukraine. President Trump putting financial penalties on Russia's two biggest oil companies after canceling his planned second summit with Russia's leader.

The Dow's up 39 points. The Nasdaq's gaining 101, 21 points higher for the S&P 501 stock on the move is Tesla, though in reverse. The electric carmaker down about 5% after reporting earnings during the summer quarter that were worse than expected despite record Tesla sales. There's also a recall.

The problem's a battery pack Defect in nearly 13,000 TESL 2025 Model 3 and 2026 Model Y vehicles are getting recalled. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the cars may lose the ability to accelerate while driving and that can raise the risk of a crash. So far, Tesla's identified 36 warranty claims and 26 field reports linked to the issue, but it's not aware of any collisions or injuries. You Jill Naito, FOX NEWS now, another.

Electric carmaker is reportedly cutting the cord on more employees. The Wall Street Journal reports Rivian will have about 600 layoffs. The new sanctions on Russian oil has driven the price way higher, up $3 this morning, back over 61 bucks a barrel. Gas is a penny pricier. Triple A's national average regular 307 a gallon, still a dime cheaper than a month ago. This is a big deal in New York City, especially for anyone who has tickets for a show on Broadway.

A strike would have forced the cancellation of 23 musicals. But after talks into the night, the union represent Broadway musicians have a tentative labor agreement with producers. They threatened to go on strike if there was no deal. By morning, the American Federation of Musicians Local 802, representing 1200 musicians, had been without a contract since the end of August. The new three year agreement includes pay raises and higher health care contributions. It's the second Broadway labor deal in less than a week.
