This will be President Trump's longest foreign trip of his second term so far, a five day swing through Asia with stops in Malaysia, Japan and South Korea. The president's long haul flight took off last night and and won't land in the region until late tonight. His schedule is packed with key trade meetings with world leaders as he looks to finalize deals and shore up new investments. But his biggest test is a face to face meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping amid their ongoing trade war.

The House GOP is on recess since passing their clean bill to keep the government open through November 21. But the measure has failed repeatedly in the Senate with Democrats stressing they won't support a bill that does not include extensions for Affordable Care act tax credits such as to expire at the end of the year. An attorney for the office of the attorney general here in D.C. calls the deployment of the National Guard on the streets of D.C. unlawful and that it's causing irreparable harm in the city. An attorney for President Trump said the city's lawsuit is a political stunt and said what the president is doing is trying to reduce crime in the city and says that is actually working. The current deployment is supposed to end at the end of November, but military officials have told the out of state troops to prepare for winter. The D.C. oAG says federal law prohibits the military from being involved in civilian law enforcement.

A ruling is expected sometime next week. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass picks a new fire chief to fill the void following the most destructive wildfire in city history. Fox's Gary Baumgarten has that Deputy Chief.

Jamie Moore, a 30 year veteran of the department, is the new chief, replacing Kristen Crowley, who Bass fired over her handling of the Palisades fire, which destroyed or damaged nearly 8,000 homes and other structures and killed at least 12 people. Moore says he will prioritize preparing the department for major disasters. Gary Baumgarten, FOX News President Trump said.

He was ending trade talks with Canada after the Canadian province of Ontario created an ad that included anti tariff comments from former President Reagan.
