Maryland Democrat Chris Van Hollen had confronted Patel about the reporting from the Atlantic, which claimed Patel had been unreachable to his staff. But Patel's filed a $250 million lawsuit over the story. The Atlantic says it stands by its reporting. The state of Louisiana has reached a $4.8 million settlement with the family of Ronald Greene, a black man who died during a violent 2019 arrest carried out by five white officers. The settlement would end a federal wrongful death lawsuit filed by his family and which still needs the approval of the state legislature. America is listening to FOX News.

A judge in New Jersey refuses to dismiss the case against a man accused of killing a honking star and his brother while driving drunk.

Attorneys argue the grand jury was presented with inaccurate evidence about his blood alcohol level when he drove in to Johnny and Matthew Goudreau riding their bikes in Oldman's Township, New Jersey, in August of 2024, 0.087% above the legal limit. They say the blood was mishandled and clotting and that the test subsequently used on plasma, not whole blood, should have been converted down to 0.075 below the legal limit. Prosecutors say the chemist did the calculation and Higgins was legally impaired. The judge says this can all be presented as evidence for a jury to decide and denies the request to dismiss. Aggravated manslaughter and reckless vehicular homicide charges. No trial date's been set. There's another hearing next month. Chris Foster, FOX News.

In structure, the parent company of the online learning system Canvas has reached a deal with hackers to delete data stolen in a cyber attack. The hacking group Shiny Hunters had threatened to leak data from nearly 9,000 schools and 275 million individuals. The company says it received digital confirmation that the data was destroyed, but admitted it's not sure if it was erased. I'm Lisa Licera. This is FOX News.
