Lorenzo Rodriguez is accused of keeping his two year old daughter inside a locked car while he slept in his home after a night of drinking. Police suspect the child died from being in a hot car given the temperature that day in Midland, Texas was around 99 degrees. According to the National Weather Service. It's believed the temperature in that car may have risen to more than 130 degrees. In Texas, capital murder can be charged for a limited number of offenses, including if someone's actions result in the death of a child under 15 years of age. Colt Gray had pled guilty Friday to 55 counts, including murder, in the September 2024 attack at at the school about 45 miles northeast of Atlanta. A former Hong Kong opposition leader has been allowed to stay in the UK after initially being detained.

Wu Chi Wai traveled to London to reunite with his wife and son following five years in prison in Hong Kong. But after initially being refused entry, he was allowed to stay in the UK for only one week. The activist pleaded for more time with his family and has now been granted a six month visa. Wu was jailed over his role in Hong Kong's quashed pro democracy movement. British authorities feared he'd seek residency, considering him not a genuine visitor.
