The president has given China a deadline of August 12th to agree to a trade deal. The Federal Reserve is again ignoring calls from President Trump to lower interest rates. At their meeting today, they left rates unchanged. Federal Reserve chief Jerome Powell is citing stable economic conditions despite elevated uncertainty. The economy is in a solid position. The unemployment rate remains low and the labor market is at or near maximum employment. Trump maintains inflation is no longer a factor.
