Disputing the data. I'm Lisa Licera, FOX News. The Justice Department is open an investigation into whether crime statistics in Washington, D.C. were manipulated to make it appear violent crime is on the decline.

D.C. police statistics show violent crime down 26% from last year. Members of the Trump administration and local police union dispute the data President Trump posted about the allegations of number tampering on Monday, writing it was done, quote, to create a false illusion of safety. A D.C. police commander involved in compiling numbers was reportedly put on leave earlier this year pending an investigation into changing statistics.

Fox's David Spunt in Washington, Nebraska, has announced plans for an immigration detention center in the state's remote southwest corner as the Trump administration looks to add new facilities across the country to house people that accused us of being in the US Illegally. The White House says President Trump is working with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukraine's President Zelensky to set up a one on one meeting to work out a ceasefire.

The United States military is sending three Aegis guided missile destroyers to the waters just off Venezuela. The Aegis Combat System, an American integrated naval weapons system, it uses computers and radars to track and guide weapons to destroy enemy targets. These ships are expected to arrive soon, according to the military, and have been assigned to the region to support counter narcotics efforts. President Trump has been putting pressure on Mexico and South American countries to do more to counter drug cartels which he says are committing crimes in the United States.
