In a letter shared to Truth Social, President Trump says he's removing Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook from her position effective immediately. He cites a criminal referral from Bill Pulte, the director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, who has claimed Cook falsified bank documents and property records, allegedly alleging she claimed two different properties were her primary residences when obtaining mortgages in 2021. In the letter addressed to Cook, the president explains, in light of your deceitful and potentially criminal conduct in a financial matter, I do not have such confidence in your integrity. Cook was appointed by former President Biden and has been serving a term that ends in 2038.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Israel deeply regrets the bombing at the Nasser Hospital Monday that's killed at least 20 people, calling it a tragic mishap. Netanyahu says, quote, our war is with Hamas terrorists. Our just goals are defeating Hamas and bringing our hostages home. Among those killed were several journalists, including a freelancer for the Associated Press and a reporter for Al Jazeera. Dozens of journalists have been killed while covering the war between Israel and Hamas.

German prosecutors charge an American civilian military contractor stationed at a US military base in Germany since 2020 started approaching Chinese government officials last summer approach them repeated repeatedly offering to hand over classified information about US Military operations. But the aspiring spy, identified as Martin D. Wasn't at it for long. Arrested in November at Frankfurt airport, now indicted, charged with having declared willingness to engage in espionage for a foreign intelligence service. German prosecutors call it a particularly serious case. But German media report the suspect apparently didn't manage to pass any intel to the Chinese and before his arrest and detention. There's a coffee merger that Keurig Dr. Pepper believes will lead to the world's number one pure play coffee company. Keurig Dr. Pepper is buying the parent company of Peet's Coffee, Amsterdam based JDE Peetz. It's an $18 billion deal. The Peetz brand is based in Emeryville, California. And Keurig Dr. Pepper plans to split its coffee and soft drink companies into two businesses. In addition to Dr. Pepper, it owns 7Up, Snapple and Energy drinks Bloom and Ghost. The coffee business includes Green Mountain and Keurig machines. Keurig Dr. Pepper has two headquarters in Burlington, Massachusetts and Frisco, Texas.
