Defense Secretary Pete Hegsett signed off on a plan to send as many as 600 military lawyers to the Justice Department to serve immigration judges. The temporary duty comes as federal immigration courts deal with a significant backlog of cases ballooning to about three and a half million in recent years, with cases growing as the Trump administration ramps up arrest and deportations of immigrants in the country illegally. At the same time, dozens of immigration judges have been fired or resigned, according to the union representing them. The Justice Department oversees the immigration courts and requested assistance from dod.

The 6.0 magnitude quake flattened villages with mostly mud, brick and wood homes in a remote mountainous area of eastern Afghanistan. Thousands of people are injured, and the United nations coordinator for Afghanistan expects the casualty rate to be exponentially higher than what's known so far. The Taliban government's asking for help from other nations and humanitarian aid groups. The US and other countries have cut aid for Afghanistan in part because of the Taliban's restrictions on women and girls and terrorism concerns. The UN says more than 420 health facilities are closed due to lack of funding, 80 of them in the eastern part of the country where the earthquake happened. Chris Foster, Fox News.

Michelle Paulino, FOX News Graham Greene was 73. Graham Linehan, the co creator of British TV sitcoms Father Ted in the IT Crowd, says he was arrested at Heathrow Airport after arriving from Arizona over a series of posts over transgender people. Police didn't name Linehan but said it had arrested a man at the airport on suspicion of inciting violence. In Pon X, Lenihan has been released on bail. He claims he's not allowed to post on X as a condition of his release. He's due in court later this week on a separate case where he's accused of harassment, harassing a transgender woman and damaging her phone. I'm Lisa Licera. This is FOX News.
