Charlie Kirk was about 20 minutes into a speech as part of Turning Point USA's the American Comeback Tour on the campus of Utah Valley University University today taking questions when a single gunshot rang out, striking him in the neck. The shooting happened around 1220 local times sending this big crowd into a panic. There was around 3,000 people in attendance. Kirk was under a tent in the courtyard at the time of the shooting. Authorities say the gunman fired the shot from a distance on campus, potentially from a rooftop.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, also a Democrat, expressed condolences to Kirk's family, adding what a nightmare this whole thing is and saying it's a very dark time. Investigators with the National Institute of Standards and Technology say they're nearly finished gathering evidence and conducting interviews regarding the 2021 collapse of the Champlain Towers south condo in Surfside, Florida. While a final report is still some time away, some of the newer information gathered reinforces the preliminary findings that the building's pool deck was likely where the collapse began, as opposed to the tower itself, and that signs of structural distress were visible. Weeks before the incident. 98 people were killed when the building fell apart.
