Say new numbers show illegal crossings along the southern border at the lowest annual level in decades.

Preliminary data released by the Department of Homeland Security show that unlawful U. S. Mexico border crossings are at a 55 year low. U.S. border Patrol agents made nearly 238,000 apprehensions at the southern border in fiscal year 2025, which began in October of last year and ended at the end of September. That's the lowest annual number since 1970, when there were about 202,000 southern border apprehensions. Most of the apprehensions in fiscal year 2025 happened during the final three months of the Biden administration. The Border Patrol apprehensions are the number of times migrants were intercepted and processed entering the US between official ports of entry. Tonya J. Says the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo shows signs of containment, with no new confirmed or probable cases since the last update October 1st. As of Monday, there's a total of 64 cases, including 14 probable cases and 43 death. Police investigating the stabbing of a town mayor in Germany think she was attacked by her own daughter.

Iris Stalzer was only elected mayor of Heerdecke at the end of last month. Yesterday, she was found at her home with multiple stab wounds. Investigators say the 57 year old has identified her daughter as the attacker. The 17 year old is in police custody along with Mayor Stalzer's 15 year old son. The politician is in the hospital but but out of danger. Prosecutors say they intend to release the children into the hands of youth welfare officers who would decide what to do while the investigation continues.
