The Israeli cabinet has voted to approve the plan to bring the hostages home and release Palestinian prisoners as part of phase one of President Trump's peace deal between Israel and Hamas. About 200 U.S. troops are going to Israel to help oversee the ceasefire and will work with partner nations on security and the flow of humanitarian aid. Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raul says the judge made the right call, temporarily blocking the Trump administration from federalizing or deploying the National Guard to the state.

The Justice Department had argued it was necessary for the Guard to be called up to protect ICE agents during protests, which they say were violent. But the judge said that she saw no credible evidence of that. With a vote of 77 to 20, the Senate has passed its version of the National Defense Authorization Act. The House passed its version last month. Next the two bills must be synced up so so a compromised version can get to President Trump's desk. But the compromise can't happen until at least next week, as the Senate is in recess until Tuesday. That also means there won't be any more votes to end the government shutdown this week. Cindy McCain, the widow of late Senator John McCain and head of the UN World Food Program, has suffered a mild stroke. A statement says she's expected to make a full recovery but will step away from her duties while she recuperates. America is listening to Fox News.

The City and state of New York are fighting the federal government in court over funds earmarked to protect public transit.

A federal judge did not issue a ruling in Thursday's hearing, but questioned if money from Congress for transit safety can be withheld. Jano Lieber, who leads New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority, said city transit is safe for now. Federal funds that are being torn away from New York have have actually made a difference. New York's Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul called $34 million being held back by DHS partisan.

Requ Immediate surgery Cody Johnson has canceled the rest of his arena tour after suffering a ruptured eardrum that required immediate surgery. The country star, who's up for four CMA awards, including Entertainer of the Year, was expected to perform at the November 19 ceremony. He told fans while battling a severe sinus infection, I burst my eardrum. The healing process will take many weeks and it's not possible for me to sing during this time. Johnson posted a video on social media to let fans know surgery went well. He had six shows left this year, including stops in Pittsburgh, Birmingham and Las Vegas.
