Iran wants to talk. I'm Dave Anthony, FOX News. That's what President Trump tells reporters on Air Force One as he considers taking military action over Iran's crackdown on protests. Well, he may meet with them. I mean, a meeting is being set up, but we may have to act because of what's happening. Iran's foreign minister claims they have the situation under total control with a big counter demonstration supporting the regime that includes death to America chants after days of protest against Iran's leaders. A source in Tehran speaking with Fox News via Starlink, described security forces open firing into crowds of people, using tear gas and arresting thousands. Human rights organizations say at least 544 people have been killed over the past two weeks. But with an ongoing Internet blackout, the confirmed number is expected to increase significantly. Fox's Trey Yang Someone drove a truck into a crowd of protesters in Los Angeles who are demonstrating against Iran. No one was seriously hurt, but the crowd surrounded the U haul, smashed the windows, attacked the driver and police took him into custody. In Minneapolis, the anti ICE protests have gone on for days, angry over what they call murder. The shooting death last week of Renee Good, who Homeland Security says was interfering with ICE operations and then drove toward an immigration agent. And more federal officers are coming, hundreds.

Of federal agents being deployed to the Twin Cities. Some came Sunday, others coming this week. On top of the over 2,000 ICE officers in D.C. dHS investigators already on the ground and tracking down and arresting what Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem calls the worst of the worst criminal illegal immigrants.

Fox's Jeff Manasseo. Pope Leo met today with Venezuelan opposition activist Maria Corria Machado. Last month she came out of hiding to accept her Nobel Peace Prize. In Norway, the first American pope called for Venezuela to remain an independent country after U.S. forces captured former Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro. That's CJ Papa.

Some Democrats in Congress have called on leadership to block funding for the Department of Homeland Security even if it were to result in another government shutdown. Senator Mark Warner is not one of them, saying he doesn't want to see a repo of last November's longest shutdown in history. Congress has until the end of January to pass 12 appropriations bills to fund the government. One of them funds the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees ICE on Capitol Hill. There was arson over the weekend in Mississippi, a synagogue set on fire.

Jackson Mayor John Horn calls it an act of terror and says the city stands with the Beth Israel congregation. Its president, Zach Schumper says in a statement, we are thankful to the fire department, law enforcement and to everyone checking in on our community. No one's reported to have been injured in the fire early Saturday. Parts of the building are destroyed and there's one suspect in custody, the Simon Wiesenthal Center. Jewish human rights organization calls the fire an assault on the heart of Jewish life in the South. The Council on American Islamic Relations says in a statement houses of worship should always be places of peace and safety, never targets of hatred or violence. The synagogue was attacked once before but firebombed by the Ku Klux Klan in 1967. Chris Foster, Fox News.

Some hospitals in New York City are taking care of patients without nurses. 15,000 of them walked off the job before dawn this morning, going on strike against three hospital systems. And Mayor Zora and Mamdani joined them on the picket lines. They are not asking for a multi million dollar salary. What they are asking for is for their pensions to be safeguarded, to be protected in their own workplace. The hospitals say the nurses demands are unaffordable. On Wall street, the dow is down 112 points, but the Nasdaq is now rising by 13 as the price of gold and silver hit record highs today. I'm Dave Anthony. This is FOX News. This is Ainsley Earhart.
