Court in the coming week said to hear arguments over a Hawaii gun law that limits carrying firearms on private property.
F
Hawaii passed a law that prohibits someone with a concealed carry permit from bringing a gun onto private property that is open to the public unless the property owner gives permission to. A few years ago, in its Bruen ruling, the Supreme Court not only ensured one's right to carry a handgun outside the home for self defense, but also said gun laws need to be consistent with the country's historical tradition of firearms regulation. Officials in Hawaii said their law satisfies Bruin that it balances the needs of property owners with the rights of gun owners. But Hawaii residents Jason and Alison Wolford sued while the 9th Circuit Court sided with the state. The Supreme Court has agreed to consider Hawaii's ban.
