Senator Gary Peters and other Democrats keep demanding ICE reform or they'd block new funding for homeland security. Money for a lot of DHS operations runs out tomorrow night. It's day 12 of the search for Nancy Guthrie and a tent has been put up in the front of the entrance to her home in Tucson, Arizona where she was kidnapped. Fox's Matt Finn reports.

Of course, that doorstep has now become such a critical element of this investigation because we have seen that masked figure right outside of that front door. Also the blood drops leading from the front door down the sidewalk to the gravel driveway. Perhaps the tent is protecting that blood, the evidence from the sun. Or perhaps there will be ongoing investigations that they want to keep a little more discreet underneath that white tent.

While Congress remains on deadline to fund homeland security by tomorrow, two other pieces of legislation advanced in the House that are very unlikely to become law. Republicans approved the SAVE act the Democrats oppose and can block in the Senate requiring proof of citizenship and voter registration and an ID to cast a ballot. The other bill would get vetoed by President Trump.

The House voted 219 to 211 to reverse the tariffs on Canada. Democrats used a mechanism to force the vote over the objections of Republican leadership through what is called a privileged resolution. A handful of Republicans joined Democrats to vote for it, including Congressman Dan Newhouse of New York, Kevin Kiley of California, Nebraska's Representative Don Bacon, Jeff Hurd of Colorado and Pennsylvania's Brian Fitzpatrick. While goods that fall under the U S, Mexico, Canada or USMCA agreement are exempt, there are tariffs on a number of good goods that fall outside of that, as well as on energy products, aluminum and steel. President Trump has said any Republican who votes against tariffs will seriously suffer consequences come election time, including during primaries. Jessica Rosenthal, FOX News the president's won.

A federal judge in Florida rejected the BBC's request to delay proceedings, instead setting a trial for February of next year. President Trump filed a $10 billion lawsuit in December accusing the British broadcaster of defamation and unfair trade practices for the way a speech he delivered before the capitol riot on January 6, 2021, was edited in a documentary. The president says the footage should have included him telling supporters to demonstrate peacefully. The BBC plans to file a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, arguing the US Court lacks jurisdiction.
