The protests began several weeks ago over the country's faltering economy and has since turned toward protests against the regime. The Justice Department says there's no current basis to open a civil rights investigation into the killing of Renee Good by an ICE officer in Minneapolis. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche did not elaborate on how the Justice Department came to that conclusion. The FBI continues to investigate the shooting. This says Los Angeles county supervisors are expected to consider a measure addressing federal immigration enforcement.

The proposed ordinance would create, quote, ICE free zones in Los Angeles county, preventing federal immigration agents from using county owned property, including parks, as operation bases, staging or processing areas. It would also require clear signage stating the property is owned and controlled by the county and cannot be used for what it describes as unauthorized civil law enforcement, including immigration enforcement. The motion calls on the LA County Board of Supervisors to place the ordinance on its agenda within 30 days.

Prices rose in December at a modest 3/10 of a percent as measured by the Consumer Price Index. Excluding food and energy, the increase was 0.2%. For the year ending in December, the CPI was up 2.7%. 2.7 matches the November number and is tied for the lowest inflation measured by the CPI since May. CPI was up 2.6% on an annual basis excluding food and energy. Both core readings came in below forecasts. The CPI has improved significantly from a peak of 9.1% in June of 2022.
