We were right in the middle of the crowd of about 2 to 300 people, which was one of the larger and more antagonistic crowds that we've had here in weeks. And protesters who were looking for a confrontation with police crossed these barriers and went out into the restricted area of the road to try to march down to the ICE processing facility. When police as police moved in to try to get the crowd back, some of the protesters started shoving the officers, leading to more than 20 arrests while three officers had to be taken to the hospital for injuries.

The legal team for accused killer Luigi Mangione is working to challenge a statement his lawyers say was made by his own mother that could be damaging to his case, including suggesting the fatal shooting of health care CEO Brian Thompson might be something she could see him doing.
JD Arias
Luigi Mangione's defense attorneys are demanding prosecutors provide proof to back up this claim made during a high profile news conference by the NYPD Chief of detectives last December. But in newly filed court documents, Mangione's attorneys say to date there has been no documentation provided in discovery that confirms the chief of detective statement as to Mrs. Mangione's alleged statement. In fact, all the discovery provided so far indicates that she did not make such a statement. They go on to say if it is true that Mrs. Mangione never made this statement, then it is shocking and unconscionable that the district attorney's office and the NYPD have have never corrected the highly prejudicial false statement.
