Federal officials arrested Ricardo Roman Flores and his twin brother Emilio. The Department of Homeland Security said in a release they threatened to kill the agency's assistant secretary, Trisha McLaughlin, and posted a call on social media to shoot ICE agents on site. The brothers, both US citizens, face conspiracy counts for making terroristic threats. Emilio Roman Flores also faces weapons charges and cyber harassment. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis designated the council on the American Islamic Relations a foreign terrorist organization, leaders of the group's chapter in the state have promised to file a lawsuit, and they say the state has no legal basis for such a declaration. CAIR's deputy executive director Heber Rahm blamed DeSantis support for Israel as the reason for the executive order because she said the group's activism has caused discomfort for Israel. Died Raul Malo, the soulful tenor and frontman of the Grammy winning band the Mavericks, has died at 60 years old. His wife, Betty Malo, announced his passing Monday night on his Facebook page. Malo had been battling cancer, openly sharing his health struggle since revealing in June of 2024 that he was undergoing treatment for colon cancer. In September, he disclosed on Instagram that he was also facing a rare and devastating condition that occurs when cancer spreads to the membrane surrounding the brain and spinal cord. The Mavericks are known for their genre bending blend of country rock and Latin influences.
