States of emergency. I'm Debra Valentine, Fox News, New York City preparing for up to 9 inches of snow this weekend and its worst snowstorm in years. New York City Emergency management Commissioner Zach Iscold discussed some ways the Big Apple is ready for the storm.

In addition to DSNY snow operations, we'll have additional FDNY NYPD staffing deployed around the city. DOT has been taking care of our bridges and tunnels and our tow truck task force is deployed around the city to address any stuck vehicles or vehicles blocking snow operations.

Holiday travel is hit with delays due to the storm. Fox's Brooke Taylor reports from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul declaring a state of emergency ahead of that snowstorm. But at this moment right now we are seeing more than 6400 delays and more than 1500 cancellations. Airports most impacted are JFK, LaGuardia and Newark. So that New York area and then Philly and Toronto. But really we are seeing it issues across the board here. Expect post Christmas travel delays tonight into Saturday as the winter storm moves on through winter. Weather alerts are in place for more than 60 million people from Philadelphia to New York.

New Jersey and portions of New York are under a state of emergency due to the inclement weather. Three deaths are reported in California due to an atmospheric river that has brought heavy rain to Southern California and snow to the sierra Nevada mountains. Department rescue more than 100 people who were trapped due to the storms. They used a helicopter to hoist at least 21 people from cars and at least 20 others were pulled out of vehicles by crews on the ground during the intense rainfall.
