The move overrides objections from Republican leaders who warn the bill will undermine negotiations designed to achieve a comparable but stronger meas now heads to the Senate, where is it expected to face an uphill battle. And the United States has imposed sanctions on Cuba's President Miguel Diaz Canal, along with four other individuals. That's according to a filing Thursday on the U.S. treasury Department website. the state votes by mail. California is one of eight states plus the District of Columbia that automatically mail ballots to all active registered voters. And in California, voters can drop their absentee ballots at dropboxes or voting centers or at the post office on Election Day. As long as the ballot is postmarked on Election Day, the ballots have seven more days to reach the registrar's offices across the state. That pushes us to June 9th, and then they can be counted for another 13 days after election day, bringing us to June 15th. And it could be another two weeks before the election is certified.

Steve Hilton is still holding a slight lead with 27% of the vote over former Health and Human Service secretary Secretary Javier becerra, who is 26% Democrat. Billionaire philanthropist Tom Steyer is in third with 20% of the vote. Maine Democrat Senate candidate Graham Plattner staying in the race despite a brewing scandal.

Maine's Senate primary is fast approaching and despite multiple scandals, Democratic candidate Graham Platner, he's holding on and top Democrats are sticking by him. So far, Platner is running to challenge Republican Senator Susan Collins, her seat a toss up this cycle. Platner has shocked some Democrats, though, with his past behavior. And the scandals are piling up. They include multiple controversial posts on Reddit, a Nazi era tattoo on his chest which was covered up, and allegations of inappropriate messages sent to women even though he's a married man.
