The whole Middle east is happy and it won't be. The strait will open as soon as we have it signed.
Jill Naito
The president had been threatening another round of strikes against Iran in retaliation for the downing of an American military helicopter earlier this week. But those strikes have been put on hold in Washington. Chill, NATO, Fox News.

The president, meantime, is nominating U.S. attorney Jay Clayton to be director of national intelligence.
Political Analyst
The president felt the pressure that was coming from Capitol Hill, including from a number of Republicans that were not happy to see Bill Pulte in the director of national intelligence position. He was named as acting dni. What this does is set up the nomination for Jay Clayton, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District in New York. He was also the chairman of the sec, the securities and Exchange Commission during the president's first term, I think was 2017-20. He is well known around Washington, obviously in the legal circles also it served to believe on the board of American Express. The question, of course, here is will this propel Congress to move quickly on this nomination. Tulsi Gabbard, who had been confirmed for this job, obviously was going to be replaced and she had announced that she would be leaving the president going in a different direction.

That's Fox's Mark Meredith. The U.S. supreme Court denying Alabama's emergency request to execute inmate Jeffrey Lee using nitrogen gas. The new legislation, officially called House Bill 472, is one of two the Ohio state House fast tracked this month. It also approved a Senate bill that would amend the state constitution to add photo ID requirements for in person voting. Republicans call the measures common sense and say polling shows voters support them, while Democrats called the changes unnecessary, saying documented voter fraud is ra. The bill that would amend the state constitution will now be put on the November ballot. The bill requiring photo ID for mail in voting is awaiting Governor Mike DeWine's signature.
